headcanon that percy and annabeth routinely swap weapons in battle. it's not a concious feat. it's just that they consider themselves a single unit when fighting for their lives. so their partner's weapon is also their weapon.

Don't Go, But Don't Come Back Either
Luke Castellan x Female!reader angst
Nothing but pain, beware. I am sorry for this. I cried writing it.
You stared at Annabeth for a long moment, your arms had fallen to your sides as soon as she had finished, Percy standing a few feet behind her, hands fiddling with his pen, that he seemed to have some weird attachment to.
The dishes you'd been holding were cracked, shattered across the ground at your feet.
"You're lying" you breathe, choked, and panicked. "You're lying, you're lying Annabeth, Luke wouldn't do tha- my Luke? No, he- he wouldn't betray camp like that" you insist. "He loves camp, he loves you- he loves me, he just wouldn't" you try to sound sure, but it's more of a plead, and it's clear to the three of you.
Annabeth reaches for you, and you stumble away, tears blurring your vision as you turn and run, heading towards the Hermes cabin as fast as your legs could go. They don't follow. A part of you decides that it hurts.
You make your way to the back, the dejected faces of the Hermes cabin making way for you. Luke's bed is messy, how he usually left it, half-heartedly thrown together, his camp necklace tucked under his pillow, his stuff left around it. It looks like he had simply gone on a day-long quest to gather information, or head into the city for groceries like some are every month, not like he had abandoned you. Betrayed you. Abandoned everyone. Betrayed everyone.
It still looked like it belonged to the Luke you knew, the Luke you love, who loves you. You sit on his bed, crying into your hands, embarrassed and hurt and angry.
One of his half brothers sits beside you, pulling you into a gentle hug. "You can stay, y/n, you're like family too, a year and a half doesn't just go away" he assures you. You sniffle, "doesn't it?" You ask softly, "where is he, if you're right? Why did he leave us?" Some part of you hopes it's a sick joke, and a worse part is glad it isn't, because you could never forgive him if it was, and you don't know if you could forgive him for what it is.
So you lose him either way.
You already have.
A few of the other Hermes kids sit with you, some crying, some not. But you allow them.
It takes a very long while before they all seem to wander away, until one of his half sisters place Luke's camp necklace in your palm, alongside the picture of you and Luke your boyfriend had kept under his pillow as well.
"He really loves you, I saw him looking at it every night" she whispers softly, placing a simple, handmade, promise ring into the palm of your hand, atop the picture, beside his camp necklace. "He asked me to make sure you got it if anything happened to him one day" she admits in a small voice, making her way out of the cabin as you stare at the things in your hands.
You slip the ring onto your left hand, tie the necklace around your neck, and fold the picture to hide his face.
And then you kick off your shoes, and curl up in what used to be Luke's bed, cold, and without Luke to keep you warm, heart heavy and aching with the weight of memories that now mean nothing.
"You know I'd never leave you, I love you, I'm gonna marry you one day." Luke grins.
"Oh yeah?" You laugh teasingly.
"Yeah" he hums, pulling you closer as you curl up in his bed. You melt into him, easily falling asleep. You've never felt as loved as you do when you're with him, and you never want it to end.

Some of my favorite quotes from “Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods.
1. “Look, I didn't want to be a high school senior. I was hoping my dad could write me a note:
Dear Whoever,
Please excuse Percy Jackson from school forever and just give him the diploma.
Thanks, Poseidon”
Already starting off strong I see.
2. “ My second thought was: Why do the gods keep losing their magic items? It was like a job requitement for them:
1) become a god, 2) get a cool magic thing, 3) lose it,
4) ask a demigod to find it. Maybe they just enjoyed doing it, the way cats like knocking things off tables.”
Percy still has his snark I see.
3. “I am a guy of limited talents. If I can't kill it with water, a sword, or sarcasm, I am basically defenseles. I come preloaded with sarcasm. The pen-sword is always in my pocket. Now I had access to water, so I was as prepared as I could ever be.”
See even he knows his sarcasm is a weapon.
4. “A shiver ran across my shoulders. The last thing the world needed was boomers aging backward, like, We enjoyed monopolizing the planet so much the first time, we're going to do it again!”
Too true!!
5. “ "Do I get to say this is a terrible idea, too?" Grover asked.
"Just do your best," Annabeth said. "You're the fastest runner. You're also the only one who speaks Chicken."
"Technically Chicken isn't a distinct language," he said, "though many animal dialects sound just like Chicken…”
"Dude, just yell at them," I suggested "Do you any fowl insults?"
"This is a family amusement center!"
"Where they are trying to kill us for complaining
"Good point," Grover said. "I will insult the chickens” “
This chaotic conversation. Another for the unhinged moments like the Dam scene.
6. “I also didn't want to die, but at least if I got killed down here, Annabeth would feel really bad about pushing me. Then I could tease her about it forever.
Except I'd be dead. Never mind.”
Love that.
7. “—and also how the kite had gotten zapped by lightning (in the middle of a sunny day) as soon as it was airborne. Even back then, before I knew I was a demigod, Zeus had been watching me. Because that's what you do when you're the king of the gods. You spend your valuable time being as petty as possible, frying forbidden kids' kites out of the sky for fun.”
Of course Zeus is a petty bitch.
8. “I remembered learning about some Norse wolf named Garm, but I wasn't the Mighty Thor, so I didn't want to cross that particular Rainbow Bridge. I had enough to worry about on the Greek side.”
The nice little nod to the Magnus Chase series before he knows it’s a thing.
I added these to my notes as I read this when it came out. I wanted to give some time before posting it. I’ll still mark spoilers even though I don’t think these give much away.

oh well … I just finished the episode and as a luke stan, this hurt in every single way and angle.
there’s a lot I could say (and I will) but I want to focus on how, during the confrontation Luke doesn’t act like your typical storybook villain. there's no malicious smirk, no sinister laughter, no scornful remarks about Percy's trust. there is no “I can’t believe you trusted me” or berating in any way. he doesn't belittle or exude confidence; instead, he stands devoid of arrogance, pleading.
he is there, and he’s begging him. he’s pleading him to understand. because they walked on the same path. they lost their mothers to a God. and sure, you could argue that Sally never described Poseidon as a monster and neither did May. but I wonder, to what extent can the love of a profound being envelop you without sculpting you into a poignant victim of its depth? “trust me I know” and it’s the second time Luke agrees when Percy talks about his mother. he knows, he’s been there. history - fate - is repeating itself. he can’t stop it, he tried with his mom. but he is still trying and trying and trying. he tried so desperately, to alter the narrative etched in the stars, to rewrite the script that destiny had penned. but it didn’t work back then. but maybe this time …?
when I say I’m thinking about the parallels between Percy and Luke I mean I am thinking about their relationships with their parents, with their mothers, with how their fathers left their mothers (albeit Poseidon’s actions didn’t make Sally go insane) and thinking about how everything Percy does is because of and for his mother and thinking about how Luke sees himself in Percy and thinking about how Luke never got to have the type of relationship with his mom that Percy has with his because of the gods and I’m thinking of how home is the first place you learn to run from, and how losing faith in your father is like losing faith in a God. but what when he’s both? and I think of how Percy almost lost his mom because of the gods. I think of their shared pain, one fighting for the love he has and the other for the love he lost.
and oh, the hesitancy to pull a sword on Percy. he still saw Percy as his brother. they could’ve been a family, all of them. him, Percy, Annabeth. they could’ve been one happy family, without the burden of their parents, the constant quests, the fighting, the dying.
because, imagine this. you are seventeen and coming back from a failed quest that your father tossed at you like trash, with a scar that will forever be imprinted on your face. the gods, once the pillars of your purpose, have now withdrawn their interest, rendering you a discarded pawn in their divine game. and the realization strikes like a thunderbolt – you are useless to them. you are useless. years of training and fighting and bleeding until you were on your knees, yet you are of no use to them. so who are you then? and despite all of this, the younger campers still look up to you. and you see it in their faces how they still yearn for a chance to embark on a quest themselves, to be chosen, to catch the fleeting attention of their unknown godly parent. and there you are as you realize that their highest aspirations are to put their lives at risk while running an errand for a parent that does not care and will never care. they hope that in death, they’ll get the recognition they didn’t get alive. and some souls, still to this day, yearn for the acknowledgment that eluded them in the realm of the living.
so truly, you can’t be mad at Luke for thinking “do the gods find pleasure in our begging? does the aroma of our need, our desire, our pleas, not reach the pantheon of the heavens, or do you simply choose to turn away?” because wouldn’t you be filled with fury too? wouldn’t you want a better world? wouldn’t you too be easy to manipulated by a titan?
he didn’t betray Percy, he wanted a better world for them both, for all of them. but Percy betrayed him the moment he mentioned his father, this mention became an unwitting weapon, inflicting a pain that would forever bleed. this cut deeper than his own scar. he could’ve had it all. but he lost it again. and why does no one understand him? someone please understand him. he’s not going insane, why can’t anyone else see it?
the gods, in their relentless whims, have cruelly drained the essence of their youth, offering hollow promises of glory that crumble into the tragic reality of sacrifice and unending celestial burdens. the gods are the ones who shattered it all, but they hate Luke Castellan. it’s always him, isn’t it? first he couldn’t achieve that damned quest and now he wasn’t able to save what mattered the most in the end. his family. again.

[ Dramatically bust's through the wall kool aid man style ]
GHAAE ( + Wolf) HEADCANONS :D
( for both Fable and MerSMP cuz I am having massive brainrot )
Fable:
- When Rae and Aax were younger, they would always without fail have some sort of picnic in their cave, this had led to Caspian, Rae, Aax and Fenris to have a makeshift picnic at random moments,
- Caspian has become a master at braiding his boyfriends (and boyfriend in law's) hairs, he'll sometimes do it automatically whenever one of the sits in front of him, he doesn't even realize he's doing it until they ask him about it.
- Fenris likes to draw stars on Rae whenever he can, Rae will be happily sleeping next to him and Fenris will just pull out a pen and draw the prettiest stars you've ever seen just- on this man's arm, Caspian and Aax have also been drawn upon on a few occasions but not *nearly" as much as Rae.
-Rae and Fenris can easily preen wings, Caspian *can* but he's not as good as them at it, Aax has no genuine clue what he's doing.
- If true crime existed in Fable, Aax and Caspian would be watchings, commenting and taking notes on any video they could get their hands on.
( TW for slight mention of child abuse )
- Whenever Aax thinks about the memory of Fable hitting Rae, he'll go to Rae and kiss where Fable hit him. He loves it whenever Aax does this.
Mer:
-Raylan will have constant dreams of old places he and his family used to go to, He can *almost* picture what their home looked like, He's tried to draw it from memory but it never looks right.
-Krit walked Raylan down the isle on his wedding day
- Mer! Caspian and Aax (Percy??) Still have Rayland ring on, Caspian has tied both his rings around his neck in fear of losing them, while Aax keeps them on his finger.
-Raylan has written letters to his family in hopes that the wind will bring it to them, He hadn't heard anything back yet- but he's hopeful, he put what he remembers, what he doesn't remember, what happened and his cords in it, folded it into a paper air plane and let the wind guide it out of his hands, he then quietly whispered a prayer that it finds them and that they don't hate his guts.
- Raylan hasn't been sleeping well, not only because he's mapping out the stars, but also because his bed feels too empty. The only times he's gotten actual good sleep is when Bucket laid in his chest and purred.
-More often than not, whenever Raylan is laying in bed, trying to sleep- He'll hear Caspian singing.. sometimes he'll even sing along- just to feel closer to him,
-Mer! Aax and Caspian have been absolutely worried sick about when Raylan is, They've been to so many tavern with a picture of him and Krit, asking the bartenders if they had seen either of them, Solaris and Jamie have been hoarding coral in the hopes that Raylan and Krit will just- magically appear so they can give it to them.
- Krits been awake more often, and has been trying to help Raylan remember anything about his husbands, it's worked to some degree- but he still can't remember Mer! Aax's name.
Dontcha just love it when you suddenly begin to brainrot over fiction gay men? I sure do :D

you color me blue, mm
[percy jackson x f!reader]
before he went missing
Tumblr media
"You're fun, and you're wild, but you don't half of the shit that you put me through."
Tumblr media
Dear flower myself, I don’t know why I assumed that I would give it over to my darling flower after our fight. I know she hates me now because of what I said last month. That we were only a fling…I wanted to say I love you too. I wanted to say that you are my special girl. But Martinez made me mad when they started dating. Bragging about how good she tasted on his tongue sent me. But then I just told her to stop talking to him if she loved me even though we weren’t dating and her pretty [e/c] eyes suffocated me so hard that I couldn’t talk loud enough to tell her that I…I love her…but if I tell her now she'll hate me, and I don't want that.-Percy
It was during last month that he started dating Rachel Elizabeth Dare along with the discovery of a new demi-god, Carlos Martinez, who annoyed Percy enough to start the argument. That day was the last day that you cried for him, the sobs heard by Annabeth and Hudson who were spending time with each other in Cabin 4, Demeter. You shed tears because another girl stole him away from you and because you could feel your adoration slowly slip away from him.
He didn't like that.
" Hey Jackson! Have you seen my girlfriend, [Name]?"
Percy frowned, Riptide twisting through his long, pale, fingers. His curly, blonde, hair fell against his forehead as he stared at his ballpoint pen.
" No, I haven't seen my gi-[L/N], if you're here to brag about how much she ‘loves’ you, don't bother. I’ve heard it from her cousin and Annabeth enough because they hate me for letting you crawl into her life. ." He snarled, his anger as evident as his love for you was to his close friends.
Grover stared at the Son of Poseidon while sitting with his girlfriend, Juniper. Sometimes he wondered if you knew how Percy loses his mind while thinking of you, but Grover knows you deserve better than his best friend.
And you were glad because of it.
Tumblr media
"But I can't change that, and I can't change your mood."

while i'm feeling stabby let's talk about action scenes in the percy jackson show (bc i refuse to let this go i refuse i do)
bc the actions scenes otherwise were not unfortunately memorable for me i'm going to be talking about the first and last ones and why they don't work both on a cinematic level but also on a character level. did i want to address the disappointingness of the st louis arch fight? yes. but literally cannot remember it beyond the fact that it was disappointing. which says a lot imo.
so. let's start with the mrs. dodds fight shall we?
i'm going to say it. taking away the sequence where percy assumes that he's wrongfully in trouble kills a bunch of subtle character work in the series.
in the books percy has a short monologue at the beginning where he starts off with "am i a troubled kid?" and so the lead up to mrs. dodds attacking him does several things. we, the reader understand that percy didn't (consciously) do anything, so we feel the unfairness when he's pulled aside - this scene asks us, the readers, to sympathize with the kid, not the authority figure. it sets up a fundamental theme in the books, that authority figures, and more specifically adults, can be challenged, can be wrong, can be terribly unfair to children. and this is important considering the protagonist of this story is dyslexic and has ADHD???
and they take it out. and it's really really galling.
there's so many other things that i could say about the character work in this scene. so many, like the fact that mrs. dodds' monologue about the gods is misinterpreted at first to be about the school - setting up the connection between the school administration unfairness and the gods unfair attitudes towards their children. like the moment when percy thinks that it might have been his ADHD acting up when mrs. dodds got up the stairs quicker than humanly possible. there's also less foreshadowing for mr. brunner being chiron, like the pen turning into a sword isn't even properly shown hello the pen suddenly having magical properties could be completely divorced from mr. brunner gifting it to percy.
there's just. a lot. of character work I'M LITERALLY SCREAMING IT'S NOT EVEN A HARD SCENE JUST PLEASE WHY IS THE SHOW ALLERGIC TO TENSION LIKE PLEASE
but they don't add in the conversations, they don't add in the moment of self-doubt, they don't add in mr. brunner. mrs. dodds just approaches menacingly. in broad daylight. like sir. the mist can cover a lot but it showed ares as a kidnapper. it doesn't make that much sense that it completely erased people's perception of mrs. dodds. like please.
(also idk if this is disney, but i think that it was incredibly frustrating that they really just removed percy's being treated as a delinquent and as a troubled kid. the show begins with the monologue but the monologue is kickstarted by percy being at "Yancy Academy, a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York." HELLO??? you could have had the exact same monologue but you change it for subpar themes????)
ok so it doesn't work on a character level.
does it work cinematically?
HELL NO.
this scene has already been torn to shreds and back (BUT NOT ENOUGH) so i'll be short. EVEN THE SPY KIDS HAS IMPACT SEQUENCES. ONES THAT LOOK REALISTIC MIND YOU. there's no impact. percy isn't pushed down by mrs. dodds, he just. trips? ig? silently? without any noise? ahahaha the lack of noise??? someone else has already mentioned the lack of noise but yeah once you hear (or don't hear) it, you can't un-hear it.
ahahahaha
ok but surely the show improved as they went on, as the filmed more etc etc. sure. but like. also no. (and also though i'm sure they did film these episodes in order lets also keep in mind that filming is not always linear)
ARES FIGHT SCENE WOOOOO LET'S GO
ok i did lose the video (i looked for it i swear, i took 30 min trying to look for it, which really isn't that long but yeah) but a lovely tumblr user here (i think i know who it was but i don't want to be embarrassingly wrong) edited the ares's fight with his internal monologue and an awful recorder rendition of that one song from the titanic and it really does encapsulate my thoughts. but yeah if you aren't familiar with the video.
when i was watching the final episode i swear i was trying to turn all critical brain functions off but it was really hard for me not to notice the increasing amount of time that ares just lets percy get up. i just watched dune (second part) so i was spoiled for good fight sequences but something i did notice was that in dune, when there is a pause in a fight it is FOR CHARACTER REASONS. the characters are DELIBERATELY NOT ENDING THE FIGHT. and that was not the impression i got from ares. it really wasn't.
and that took away from his authority/menace as a god ngl.
so yeah was the fight better than the dodds fight. 100%. like 500%.
does that make it a good fight sequence.... ehhhhhhhhhhhh....
(why did the scenes with luke have more tension than the ares fight hello)
and character wise. assassination. all the assassination. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CULMINATION OF PERCY'S CHARACTER ARC AHHHHHHHH. sorry. but like this was the point at which percy decides he's done running. and stands up to ares with all the taunts and quick thinking that we know him for. unfortunately the show thought itself better and erased that theme ahaha.
so this really is just a fight for the helm. no big reveals, no reading the actions and emotions of a god, no strategy, no trying to get to the water and ares stopping him. like
WOULD IT BE SO HARD TO JUST FOLLOW THE NICE LOVELY SCRIPT THE BOOKS GAVE YOU FOR EXAMPLE: shot of percy looking at the water, shot of ares looking at percy looking at the water, maybe a pan to the water here, percy moves towards, ares blocks. YOU CAN IN FACT SHOW BATTLEFIELD STRATEGY IN A MOVIE. BC BATTLE STRATEGY RESULTS IN STRATEGIC FIGHTING. WHICH IS WHAT THE VISUAL MEDIUM IS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD AT. RIGHT? RIGHT???
ahahaha sorry just feeling stabby i don't really know why. anywho off to the senate meeting. i'm running a bit late but i did rsvp with a knife sooooo

I cannot get over how perfect the casting was for the show as a whole, but I want to highlight how perfect the gods were.
I can see Lin Manuel Miranda visiting May, checking up on her, while she waits for Luke to come home.
I see his defeated expression when his son dies. How he clearly blames himself
I can see him blaming Annabeth and Thalia for not changing his mind
I can see him talking to George and Martha, and helping Percy sneak out of camp
I can see Jay Duplass buying Hazel colored pencils, and fumbling about trying to raise Nico.
I can see him with his hands over his ears trying to ignore Nico’s nagging to get him to join the battle of Manhattan.
I can see his face when his Mother in Law moves in and tries to make everyone eat cereal.
I can see his anger as Maria DiAngelo is murdered. And How he just barely manages to save his children.
This is the man who cursed the oracle in rage and pain. Saying no one could take her place as long as his kids were outcasts
I can see him lock up the boy his son is crushing on, and being beaten up by him five minutes later.
I can send Timothy Omundson watching monitors, keeping tabs on Leo and his siblings, wishing he knew how to talk to them.
I can see him building mechanical animals and visiting Calypso.
I can see him saving the head of his son’s pet dragon. So proud that he was able to tame it and put it back together.
Can’t you see Toby Stephens offering to build a palace for Sally Jackson
See him falling in love with her
See him still in love with her.
He tells Percy that he’s his favorite son.
He lets his home be destroyed because his son asked him to come help.
I can see his face light up when he thinks Paul’s last name is Blowfish.
I can imagine Adam Copeland taking his anger out on Clarisse. Demanding that she take his revenge. Blaming her. Demanding she earn her keep.
I can see him with a grenade pen, bullying terrified kids into giving Frank a premonition, and the look on his and everyone else’s face when amnesiac Percy says that he’s pretty sure he’s beat him up before.
We’ll never get to see Lance Reddik turn Thalia into a tree.
Or him fall for a movie star and have two children with her.
We’ll never see him promise one of them to his wife as a peace offering.
But can’t you just imagine the look on his face when he offers Percy immortality, and in return gets told to pay his child support.
and Jason Mantazoukus is literally Dionysus. There is no question.
This is the man who eats popcorn and watches drama go down between campers
Genuinely distraught when he loses Castor. He asked Percy to protect Pollux cause he can’t stand the thought of losing another child
The god who refuses to acknowledge or learn anyone’s names because knowing there names makes it more difficult when he watches them go off and die
who doesn’t like Percy or demigods like him because they remind him of Theseus.
Who helps mend Chris’s minds after he goes mad in the maze.
Who pretends not to care because he cares too much.
The gods can change their form and look like whatever the heck they want, but it takes true talent for an actor to fill those shoes so perfectly. I love it.

Rewatching the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson series for like the fifth time like any sane person and just wanted to make a comprehensive (and I mean comprehensive so bear with me here) list of all my thoughts, however unhinged they may be so here goes.
EPISODE 1
Walker’s monologue at the beginning gives such great background and I’m not gonna lie it destroyed me hearing ‘look I didn’t want to be a half-blood’ as the first words. Not to mention the fact that half of that monologue is pretty much word for word from the book which is something I die over whenever it happens
Blackjack looking out for Percy - we love a bit of foreshadowing
The light that comes into the picture when he says things changed when he met Grover. This is literally everything to me, I am so glad even just in the first two episodes they’re showing how strong of a bond they have. Also let’s not forget that they have Mythomagic cards
Sally Jackson (my goddess) imparting words of fucking wisdom - ‘not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero and not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster’
Also her explaining to Percy the story of Perseus (his name sake) - like I am sorry but the centring of the mother/son relationship which only amplifies once Percy loses her is something I don’t know how to explain how much I love (like her even prays to her over his father who is a literal god but we’ll get to that later). ‘hold fast Perseus, brave the storm that was made to break us for we are unbreakable as long as we have each other’ 😭
‘hang on to that, it is a mighty instrument’ - oh yeah it is
Grover spouting scientific facts about bullying - ‘childhood trauma, feelings of inadequacy’ - like he’s written a research paper on it 🤣
Percy and Grover swapping things on their sandwich like they’re siblings
‘I was thinking more like shoving Nancy in the nearest dumpster’ and there mischievous smile afterwards - oh I love you Percy
Grover saying ‘If there’s one thing I know about bullies, you should never stand up to them’ and Percy saying ‘that doesn’t sound right’
I was a little underwhelmed with the whole Mrs Dodds encounter. I don’t know I think I just expected something longer and with the whole drama of Mr Brunner throwing Percy the pen but I think maybe in hindsight it makes more sense cause it’s easier to convince Percy that it didn’t happen
Gotta say that the first time I watched the scene in the principals office I did not even realise Rick was in it but now I can’t not see him
Grover ‘betraying’ Percy was heartbreaking cause you know Grover doesn’t want to do it but knows that he has to and you know that Percy feels like he has lost the only friend he had
Actually really glad that Eddie is a nice sympathetic guy not one of Gabe’s poker buddies
Still disappointed by Gabe - I still think he needed to be a bit more grimy and disgusting (and the way he talks in the scene was just not right for me, don’t know whether it was the acting or the script but it was a no from me). Though Percy’s ‘Losing at imaginary poker’ line was funny
Logical and Sally Jackson. That is all. Just know that I actively sob every time I watch this. Also her sitting in the rain so contentedly will never not hit me, on a personal level knowing how certain things can just provide peace and an escape from life otherwise but also more contextually with her and Poseidon (bottom line: water is the ultimate comfort)
Of course Sally believes Percy and brings him blue candy. Keeping the most important themes of the book. The mother-son bond (which I will to more later) and the blue
I always thought Brunner was pronounced runner but with a b in front of it
D’Angelo’s - yes I will take any peace of nico that I am given (fingers crossed for the lotus casino scenes)
My kin sally Jackson crying in a car while watching her son sleep knowing what lies ahead, nope sorry but I’m not okay and neither is she
‘You fell in love with god, like-like Jesus?’ - oh Percy my love. If nothing else this is who Percy Jackson is.
Percy fully believing that something is wrong with him because that’s what he’s always been told
‘What is he doing here, I don’t want to see him’. Grover and his impeccable timing and panic. Don’t get me started on why I think the ‘You didn’t tell him about me?’, ‘You’re early’ exchange between Grover and Sally is the funniest thing to me.
‘Why is there half a goat in your pants?’ and ‘Why is it wearing underpants?’ - Percy asking the important questions here
I honestly don’t know how they didn’t figure out Percy was Poseidon’s son after the whole Nancy no of it and then Clarissa like it was quite obvious
‘I’m actually 24’ oh Grover we know you bleat when you’re anxious
Sally’s goodbye to Percy - I am a sucker for sadness
I do agree that riptide should be bigger but the only thing I can think is that maybe it’ll grow with him
EPISODE 2
‘You drool when you sleep’ the iconic line. It kinda disappointed me not going to lie.
PETER JOHNSON-pretending to be Percy’s father-PETER-using Percy to break the rules Dionysus introduction and pipeline (oh he is horribly perfect)
‘Yeah but did you’ persassy is in the house and I hope he never leaves (one of my favourite lines and the way walker delivers it is perfection)
Camp looks incredible. I know people have issues with the grandeur of it all but that’s the way things work in the film industry and I personal adore it
And can we talk about Chiron’s injured back leg. Like am I forgetting something (probably) but I don’t remembered him being injured
For those who don’t know, finding out that like is the bad guy is probably gonna destroy them. Charlie bushnell really was like I’m gonna make everyone love me only for them to be crushed (and even though I know I am still gonna hurt - yes I have a soft spot for Luke)
I was so confused when Grover went into the woods and saw the council (it was the only part that I was like what in the world is this, this wasn’t in the books)
Luke being the one the comfort Percy and show him around - oh a genius choice narrative wise but I do miss my girl Annabeth
Introduction to Clarisse was everything - Dior is my goddess
‘Should I try again’ and the resounding ‘NO!’
‘Is there a Greek God of disappointment. Maybe someone should ask him if he’s missing a kid’ - Percy Percy Percy stop making me love you more than I already do like I don’t think my heart can take it
Then Chris’s lovely little tangent and Luke going man why the fuck are you saying this and reassuring Percy - you go storyline building up the loveable Luke (I’m already hurting)
‘They like the smell of begging’ - top teir line
‘You burn what you’re gonging to miss the most’ flash forward to Percy taking this and burning his blue candy praying, not to his father who is an actual god, but to his mother (I cannot handle this, like this kid knows that his mum is the real goddess)
Walker’s voice breaking on ‘well’ - I am sobbing
And the fact that he says he made actual friends - the narrative damning us to inevitable torture
The resentment in his voice when talking about his father - I am so glad they leaned into this
I kinda loved the bathroom scene. And how we are first introduced to Annabeth in this and how she is her blunt self (still don’t know how they could not have known)
Like calling Annabeth his little sister and saying he will always be on her side (I am hurting even more - we never get to see Luke’s perspective in the books and this, this absolutely ruined me)
Pronunciation of Thalia is still going to take some getting used to
Chiron forever in that suit jacket and fence is just not sitting right with me - doesn’t fit the whole trainer of warrior vibe he should be giving
‘Not you sunshine’ - honestly better than seaweed brain
Percy tripping over the branch and Annabeth just standing there and her facial expression (on Leah you are everything)
‘When it’s time he’s going to be ready. I know it.’ Cut to a montage of Percy doing the most 12 year old things possible, including but not limited to flossing (which I thought was kind of out of place and cringe) and petting a random gecko (which I thought was out of place but one of the most hilarious things ever so I’ll give it a pass) while his helmet and weapons lay discarded
Percy I thought you were meant to be proving yourself to your dad to get his attention or something, telling people where the flag is to avoid a fight is not exactly how to do that
Honestly any time Dior is on my screen is a good time - her manic laugh and anguished scream Dior is the moment
Annabeth’s bluntness will always be everything to me - ‘listen, Percy, I’m sorry’ and Percy’s ‘what is wrong with you’ (top five moments of the show)
The reveal - Percy Jackson son of Poseidon
‘I am Sally Jackson’s son’ yeah you tell them Percy (you will always be first and foremost Sally Jackson’s son)

Both six of crows and pjo are rotating around in my head like a rotisserie chicken so I was thinking what it would be like if The Crows met The Seven (including some other characters)
!! Spoilers for both the Six of Crows duology and the pjoverse !!
Also disclaimer it’s been literally years since I’ve read any of the riordanverse so I’m going off of solely my memory here bear with me
Jesper joking around with Percy and Leo like cmon they would all be such good friends
And knowing how excited Jesper was with Sturmhond’s flying ships, he’d probably think the Argo II is the coolest thing ever
That’s where this is taking place actually I’ve just decided. Let’s put all these traumatized teenagers on a giant ship and see what happens
Wylan and Leo talking about explosives, need i say more
Wylan and Annabeth talking about architecture and Wylan showing Annabeth his sketches of the Ice Court
I wanna say Kuwei and Leo would also get along, since yk, fire powers and they both know science things. Leo keeps getting called an Inferni and it sounds cool to him so he doesn’t say anything
I don’t know why but I feel like Kaz and Percy wouldn’t really like each other (at first)
Kaz probably respects Percy a bit more though after learning that Percy literally fell into Tartarus for Annabeth and they made it through alive
Either that or he wouldn’t believe it
He’d also try to steal Riptide just to look at it after seeing it turn into a sword. It keeps returning to Percy’s pocket which confuses Kaz even more. After Kaz finds out just what’s up with Riptide though, he continues stealing it just because he can. He knows it’ll go back to Percy’s pocket but Kaz needs to be dramatic ok
Just “where did my pen go this time—?” “THIS pen?” “Damnit Brekker—”
Jason and Matthias would be friends, the stoic blond dudes who are incredibly loyal to the places they grew up in. They’d both be talking about wolves and growing up with them. Oh and they also have one other thing in common I’ll let you guys guess that one 😁😁
Nina being a big sister to Nico bc let’s be honest they’ve both been through a lot and hello?? Raising the dead??
Kaz would be somewhere off to the corner avoiding talking to anyone and maybe just maybe he’d see Nico, the boy with hurt in his eyes who reminds him a little too much of himself when he was younger
Wait I just had the sudden image of Kaz and Nico bonding over card games excuse me while I cry
OUGH WAIT THEYVE BOTH LOST OLDER SIBLINGS TOO HOLD ON
Kaz being haunted by his memories of Jordie 🤝 Nico being haunted by his memories of Bianca
Piper and Nina sharing beauty tips and braiding each other’s hair :>
Annabeth showing Inej her dagger bc oooo knives
Wait I just realized they both have daggers/knives either made of bones or having a bone handle
Frank turning into a wolf and Matthias being really excited
The Crows tripping up and accidentally calling Percy a Tidemaker (multiple times) He doesn’t know what it means but hey it sounds cool
Hazel doing things with her mist magic and Kaz being so incredibly baffled bc what do you mean it’s just magic. No there’s a trick behind it how did you do that
Frank turning into a crow and Kaz internally fanboying just a tad bit
Jesper and Hazel can both do cool things with metal and rocks and stuff so I think Jesper might call her a Fabrikator they’d exchange some knowledge about it or smth
Frank lowkey losing his mind bc one Leo was bad enough but now there’s Jesper ?? (/lh)
Kaz and Annabeth being the schemers/planners and leading their groups. Don’t know if they’d get along or not, what with Kaz’s,,, methods
I also think The Seven trying to explain the gods being real would go horribly wrong. Kaz would just snort and be like “yeah and I have two good legs”
Ough don’t even get me started on all the parental issues literal everyone has here
Except for like. A select few that have stable relationships with their parents
Colm Fahey helping his children commit crimes 🤝 Sally Jackson and Paul Blofis fighting off monsters that one time in The Last Olympian
I literally can’t think of any more, feel free to mention any interactions you think would happen :D

Something from the Transformers Band AU or Regency AU? Those were super fun.
Five times Drift’s new bandmates were weird and one time he embraced the chaos
The first time Drift realized how weird his new bandmates were, he hadn’t even joined the band yet. They weren’t his bandmates. They were just Arcee and Rod’s friends he was meeting at a diner because they were about to go on tour without a bassist and one of them had heard him practicing on the couch. Drift was kind of expecting to get about five questions in before they figured out he wasn’t worth it and moved on.
What he got instead was the guy he was pretty sure he hadn’t met going, “So you’ve done tours before, right? You know you can handle it?”
“Yes,” Drift said, and got ready for it to fall apart as soon as they asked him about those tours.
“And double checking—you’re not using anything, right?’ the guy he was pretty sure he had met said. “Like, no shade, no harm, it’s not a problem, we just gotta know.”
“Using…?” Drift said, carefully.
“Drugs,” Rod elaborated from where he was playing games on his phone and stealing fries from the guy who must have been the one Drift had already met.
“No. No, I’m not.”
“Do you snore?” the guy he hadn’t met before asked.
“I don’t know.”
“Yeah,” Rod said. Drift tried not to wince. That didn’t seem like an answer they’d want to hear.
“Okay, you’ll bunk with Percy,” the guy he’d met before said. “So how this is gonna work is, we’ll run you through the schedule and the set basics and if it all sounds good, we’ll get you in to talk with our lawyer and—do you have an agent?”
Not anymore. Drift just shook his head, cautiously.
“—that’s fine, you can borrow ours. You can talk to them two and get the contract shit straightened out and call the first tour leg a trial run. Doesn’t work out, that’s fine, we can track down someone else and you can get back to your life?”
It went up at the end like a question. Drift was still trying to figure out what was going on. They hadn’t told him to leave yet.
“He’s in,” said Rod, who had managed to figure out how to interpret Drift’s blanking face in the past two months. “Hey, you should let me be your agent.”
“Don’t do that.” The guy Drift had just met today, whose name he would learn in short order was Impactor, pulled out a pen and grabbed a napkin out of the dispenser. “So here’s what the first few shows are going to look like—”
===
Drift had actually learned what band he was gigging for by the time the publicity circuit started. Seemed like the ‘Wreckers’ were pretty well known in the States. They had pretty regular radio interviews, and after they’d wrapped a very successful first leg of the tour and were starting to talk about him sticking around, they had him come along to one of them.
Drift hadn’t absorbed much of Springer’s rundown besides “Are you kidding me, that’s fucking hilarious, please say that,” when he checked if it would be okay for him to say that he’d never heard of the band before he joined if the interviewer asked. About the only other thing he’d tracked was “Oh, and if we all stand up, that’s a signal that the lady asked a walkout question and we’re getting the hell out of there.”
He’d assumed this was them trying to fuck with him and nodded accordingly. As such, it took him a couple seconds to notice when the rest of the group went silent in response to a question to Springer about some kind of anniversary.
“Welp,” Impactor said, and slapped his hands against his thighs. They were all standing now, and Drift scrambled to his feet to follow them out. The radio host was staring at them with baffled offense, but none of the rest of them even looked at her.
Whirl led the way out of the radio station at a confident saunter, losing his helmet that he wore for all official band business into his backpack in a quick slight of hand Drift couldn’t catch. That plus Perceptor’s sunglasses rendered them just about invisible, as a group.
“So, ice cream?” Whirl asked. “I’m feeling ice cream.”
“What was that?” Drift asked, still glancing back. No one was coming out of the station after them, not even Kup. Were they in trouble?
“I told you about walkout questions, right?” Springer asked. “Stuff about my dad who’s in jail qualifies.”
“...I thought you were joking.”
“Oh, super not joking.”
“It’s in the contract,” Perceptor said. “All of us have things we’d rather not discuss publicly. Some of the press don’t read it, or think that the ‘right to terminate immediately’ isn’t something we’ll actually exercise.” He adjusted his sunglasses. “Kup will take care of it. We haven’t had to show we’re not bluffing in a while.”
“Sorry, dude,” Impactor said, clapping Springer on the back.
“It’s whatever. Drift, you wanna put anything on the list? Shit people absolutely cannot ask about?”
He did. Might as well start big and let them help him figure out what was unreasonable, right? “My entire career before this.”
“Fuck yes,” Whirl said. “I love it. Walking enigma of a man number two. Do you want help making up a fake backstory or are we just calling it a void?”
Drift’s new bandmates were very weird, but he couldn’t say he minded.
===
They were through the second of three tour legs and taking a night to celebrate—both making it this far and that Drift had decided he’d be joining the band. They’d crammed into the same room, along with Rod and Arcee and a bunch of things from the game shop down the road that looked fun. Everyone except Impactor was drunk and Arcee had her head in Springer’s lap while he petted her buzzcut. Drift was pleasantly buzzed for the first time in a while
“Hey,” Arcee said, reaching out to pat Drift on the arm. “Hey. Hey Drift. If you’re with the band now. What’s your carsona.”
“What?”
“OH FUCK YES,” Whirl said, sitting up so fast he fell off the bed. Perceptor dropped a pillow on top of his face. It didn’t dampen the effect. “Did I tell you guys, I had the coolest fucking idea for the next one. First off, I’m going to need a bunch of guns—”
“What are you fucking talking about,” Drift said, because he’d learned that Whirl explaining one of his ideas could take an entire conversation’s worth of words and he didn’t want to move on without an answer. “Impactor?”
Impactor was already scrolling on his phone, and five seconds later he shoved it in front of Drift’s face. Drift could recognize the opening notes of Wreck and Rule before it even got four bars in, playing over an animated shot of a tank rolling down a deserted road. The song built to the opening fermata, and as the saxophone held out the note, the tank started to break into pieces and reform into a helicopter.
“What,” Drift repeated.
The helicopter launched into the sky as the bass dropped and the drums kicked in, and two cars shot off a ramp in the background to come crashing into frame as another helicopter dive-bombed the camera. An unsupported microscope flew through the air to keep up.
“What.”
The next three minutes featured car chases, helicopter acrobatics, and absolutely no concern for the laws of physics. It came to the end and Drift immediately dragged the video back to the beginning to watch it again, this time complete with commentary as everyone had to tell him which vehicle they were and why and the cool effects.
“What,” Drift said, helplessly, again, when it had finished. “Why is this a thing.”
“Percy’s idea,” Whirl said. “Because he’s a weeb.”
“Revolutionary Girl Utena is a masterpiece,” Perceptor said to no one in particular.
Drift hit replay on the video again, because he could. This was so weird. It was so cool.
“I wanna be a racecar,” he said, when it had finished again.
“ONE OF US,” Hot Rod cheered, and tried to wrestle him into a noogie. He failed, of course. Springer helped pin him down while Drift got his revenge.
===
“Hey,” Whirl said, somewhere during a long overnight drive on the bus when he and Drift were the only ones awake. “Do you like instrumental stuff?”
Drift looked up from his book. “Sure?”
Whirl waggled a pair of headphones at him. “Wanna give something a listen for me?”
“Sure.”
Drift knew Whirl did a lot of the band’s instrumentations, and that he got bored easy, so he was expecting this to be a new riff on one of the songs they’d been playing so far, or maybe a completely unknown song for the album that was scheduled for work when they were done with the tour. Instead, he got a string quartet.
Even with the tinny, unvarying tones of automated transcription software, it flowed. It was elegant, all the notes interlocking like clockwork, the instruments passing around the melody and making it their own. It cut off abruptly enough that Drift could feel how much he wanted more.
“Okay, this bit. Is the cello doing enough?” Whirl asked, and played the last thirty seconds again.
Drift hadn’t done instrumental music in years, but he had a pretty good understanding of bass parts thanks to this tour. “It’s kind of boring. Syncopate it, maybe?”
“Well, fuck you too,” Whirl said, and snatched the headphones back. He clicked something and scowled at his screen. “Fuck. You’re right.”
“You’re writing this?” Drift asked, instead of going back to his book.
“Side gig. Cyclonus listens to the classical music station all the time. I will get something on there. He can’t escape from me.”
Every time Whirl mentioned either of his housemates Drift wasn’t sure if he was dating them or not, and at this point Drift was honestly kind of scared to ask.
===
Drift was already nervous on the first day of recording for the new album. It was going to be the first time he’d been in a recording booth in almost a year. He might completely fail at this, and not know how to work with them, or not be able to adapt, and just stick to being a touring backup. Which he liked, it was great, but it wasn’t like he could live on that, and it was pretty damn unlikely that he was going to trip into gigging for any other bands the way he had for this one.
So his nerves were running high even before he let himself in with the code and wandered down a hallway towards the sound of raised voices and found Perceptor, of all people, having a shouting match with a stranger in the production booth. The rest of the band was in the recording booth, all doing things completely unrelated to music. Drift snuck in to join them.
“Uh…” At least it was quiet in here. “Are they…”
Impactor flipped a page in his motorcycle magazine. “They’ll need another couple of minutes.”
Drift decided to take a very long time tuning his bass.
Sure enough, a couple minutes later Percy stormed out of the recording booth and slammed the door open to join them. The stranger, grinning smugly, flipped on the mic to chat with them and waved. “Hey! You must be the new guy. I’m Percy’s ex-boyfriend.”
“I told you to stop telling people that!” Perceptor shouted at the booth. “He’s my husband,” he added in a far calmer aside to Drift.
“Oh,” Drift said. He’d vaguely known Perceptor was married, but he hadn’t really expected...this?
“Mwah!” The guy who must be Brainstorm blew a kiss at the booth. “Oh-kay, if you gentlemen would like to get this show on the road, I need some sound checks.”
“Our regular producer is your husband?” Drift asked Percy, quietly. He was pretty sure this wasn’t standard, even for the American music industry.
“He works for takeout,” Springer said, and played a rimshot.
Well. At least his nerves were gone.
===
The album recording process went...fine? It went fine. It went great, actually, Drift didn’t have to do any singing at all and finally understood enough about how they liked the bass to fit into their songs that he could improv some of his own parts instead of asking Kup for help or trying to follow Impactor’s increasingly incomprehensible whims. The album was coming together, they were creeping towards release and planning the next tour, the paparazzi still hadn’t figured out where he was, and he only slept on Rod and Arcee’s couch when he didn’t feel like going home after movie night.
They were doing their first show in a while, to build hype for the upcoming album, and Drift was wandering around the venue after sound check doing nothing in particular. Springer was nearby, challenging people to dance-offs with the camera guy who was doing a documentary for the upcoming tour and also enabling Springer’s burgeoning social media empire trailing behind him.
“Hey, Drift!” Springer waved at him. “Dance-off?”
Drift thought about it. He was less scared of being found than he had been a year ago. He liked it here, he liked his band mates, his old agency hadn’t tried to get in touch with him at all. He’d found a life after washing out of Kpop. Why not?
“Sure,” he said, and launched into an old routine. Not one of the ones from his last tour, that had ended with him falling off the stage, but one of the ones from before that when his health hadn’t been as bad. It wasn’t one of his flashier ones, but he’d drilled it a lot and it looked good close up.
It ended with him facing his audience, one hand outstretched, so he had a fantastic view of the shocked and delighted awe on Springer’s face two seconds before he tackled Drift into a nearby couch shouting “What the FUCK was THAT?”
Drift was going to assume he’d won.

we, as the readers, know that percy's pen double's a sword and I imagine other demigods are also aware because they've seen him in battle, but only a handful of people know his sword returns to his pocket. I mean, no other weapon (that I know of) does that, so why would anyone outside of that handful of people have any reason to believe his sword has that ability?
all I'm saying is at one point in the PJO universe, a group of campers thought it would be funny to steal percy's pen when he wasn't looking and, of course, Percy doesn't freak out when it's not next to him because it'll return to his pocket eventually. meanwhile, the campers go into the woods and uncap it and pretend to be the mighty savior of the world and then they get distracted and placed the sword down for a few seconds and then turn around to find it missing and they fucking panic. they spend hours searching the woods and the entirety of camp half-blood for it but can't find it. so the campers, who are scared shitless, go to tell percy and they're all "we stole your sword and played with it and then we lost it. we're so sorry. please don't retaliate" and percy starts to laugh and they're all "what's so funny? why are you laughing?" and then percy just pulls the fucking pen out of his pocket and winks at them before walking away and the campers lose their fucking minds.

Percy Jackson fan I need your help with a question.
So we all know Riptide is a ballpoint pen right? Anyways Percy has to take the cap off then it turns into a sword. We also know it works like a pen cuz ~tiny spoiler for House of Hades~ in House of Hades when Percy is trying to write something and doesn't have a pen he puts the cap on the hilt of Riptide and it turns into an almost normal pen. This means the cap isn't a part of the sword.
Does this mean that Percy just throws the cap when he fights? In the new show he just sorta flicks it off Also does he have to look for the cap after the fight to turn the sword back into a pen? Would the cap just appear in his pocket like the rest of the sword? How does Percy turn the sword back into a pen without losing it? Does the pen just get a bunch of new caps when it respawns in Percy's pocket or does the pen make a whole new cap and Percy is just leaving a bunch of caps around? How does this freaking cap to this pen work??????
I have been thinking about this for too long. This is the biggest plot hole I have found personally that no one ever talks about.

You owe me at least three days of rest in the infirmary - Solangelo
Masterlist
Part 1 Part 3
Pairing: Nico di Angelo x Will Solace
Wordcount: 1107
Warnings: mentions of trauma, nightmares, wounds, implied death (Bianca)
Summary: The three says in the infirmary with some change.
Tumblr media
TWO | NICO
- I’m so afraid of losing something I love,
that I refuse to love anything -
The bed Nico had been led to was more comfortable than he'd like to admit. The soft covers were pulled over his body and the fluffy pillows were way softer than the ones he had in his own cabin. Will was working on some other patients, humming quietly on some old greek song Nico didn't recognise. Although the bed was like lying on a cloud and the covers felt like they were made of silk, Nico didn't go to sleep. He hadn't slept much since Tartarus and the only times he'd rested were the times he was knocked out unconscious. Since he came back up from that hell of a place he was pretty much running on an adrenaline kick and a prayer. When the sleep took over him the nightmares came back, and he'd had enough of Tartarus for a lifetime.
But to make Will happy and to not have him placing that disgusting, wet towel in his face, he pretended to be asleep anyways. Eyes closed and curled up into a ball. In the distance he heard the door open and someone stepped in.
"Careful, don't wake him up," Will whispered to someone and Nico recognised the sweet voice of his sister Hazel when she replied. She brushed away the locks from his forehead and pulled a hand through his messy hair. The touch was familiar and filled with love and care, but it was only Hazel he allowed to do that. He wasn't the one for physical touch but Hazel was something else. She was family. The only family he had left if you didn't count Hades. He felt Hazel sit down at the edge of the bed, her hand still stroking softly at his hair, just like Bianca used to do. Eventually her soft touch and the feeling of being exhausted became too much. He fell down a bit deeper into the mattress and sleep took over his whole body for the first time in ages.
"Still hiding," Cupid said, smashing another skeleton to pieces. "You do not have the strength."
"Nico," Jason managed to say, "it's okay. I get it."
Nico glanced over, pain and misery washed over his face. "No you don't," he said. "There is no way you can understand."
"And so you run away again," Cupid chided. "From your friends, from yourself."
Nico woke up and sucked in a sharp breath. He sat up and pulled a stressed hand through his messy hair and took in his soundings. The infirmary's clean walls met him and he let out a shaky breath. He was at Camp Half-Blood. Not Cupid's cave. Even though he'd cleared it up with Percy, telling him the truth after all these years, the dreams still came back. Never in his life had he felt so much anxiety, or anger for that matter, than back in Cupid's cave.
"You okay, di Angelo?" Will's voice beside him made him clear his mind. The tall blonde boy stood over him with a cup of water in his hand, looking concerned. Hazel had left for the gods knows how long ago.
"For how long was I gone?" Nico asked, avoiding his question and sitting up straighter in the bed. Will held out the water for him and Nico took it, gulping it down and placing the empty cup on the small table beside the bed.
"About 9 hours, are you okay?" Will asked again and dropped down to sit on the bed beside him. Nico rolled his eyes at him and nodded, "I'm fine."
Will gave him a small smile and hopped off the bed and walked away to an office chair on wheels and sat down there with a journal and a pen. Nico watched him silently, but it wasn't the greatest light in there. He glanced at the clock that hung on the wall and his eyes widened when he saw it was 3 am in the morning. What was Will doing in the infirmary now?
He shook his head so that the dark curls whipped in his eyes. Nico fell back down on the bed with a thud making the blonde boy look up from what he was doing. The dark haired boy groaned and covered his face with his hands. He was already bored and he'd been there for not even twelve hours. And he was stuck here for three more days. At least three days, Will had told him and that made him even more bored, just the thought of the possibilities that he may have to stay longer than that.
"You want something to eat?" Will's voice was closer than he thought it would be, startling him a little. He shook his head at the question. The covers he'd had on him fell down on the floor, the colder air hit him immediately. He shivered and then noticed that he was still wearing the floral print shirt that was completely torn up and his black jeans had a few holes in them. One of the holes in his shirt revealed one of the many hastily stitched up werewolf claw marks that had magically refused to heal. Unfortunately Will saw them when he picked up the covers from the floor. He froze in place and raised an eyebrow at him. After putting the comforter at the foot of Nico’s bed, Will walked away to get something and came back with a scissor, needle, tread, some clear liquid that would probably hurt as hell in contact with wounds, and a few cotton pads. He placed it all on the table beside Nico's bed and went to wash his hands.
"Lay down, you need to get those wounds stitched up properly," Will mumbled and Nico sighed but did as he was told. Will unbuttoned his shirt and a faint blush made its way to his cheeks. The silence was comfortable but it felt like it was too quiet for Will. Nico flinched when the cold metal of the scissor made contact with the wound on his arm but laid still.
"Are you always this quiet?" Nico mumbled and closed his eyes in pain and
Will pulled away the old tread from his skin. Will's frown disappeared at the question and a small smile made its way to his lips.
"No, but you are. It's no fun to talk to myself," he answered. Nico shrugged, he wasn't wrong, was he? "Stay still, or otherwise I may sew you in the shoulder or stick you with the needle," Will mumbled as he continued working, holding Nico's arm still. Oh boy, he thought, this would be a long three days.

Chapter 20 - I Battle My Jerk Relative
Theme of the day: War
Y’all I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna finish these last few chapters before the tv show comes out!! This year really didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to go but by the gods I’ll have at least one goal done no matter how skewed it got 😅 I was really like I’ll be able to read all the Olympus series in a year sjkdfhsd shit happens.
On to the chapter, “war” seems a bit self explanatory since this is when Percy confronts Ares. While Ares isn’t the one to have formed the idea of pitting the Big Three against each other, but he’s enticed by the idea of WWIII, a three-way war. Luke was lucky that it was Ares who caught him, since he probably was the easiest of the Olympians to manipulate (like hey... you could turn me in or you could let me go and start a giant war 😏). It really was a brilliant plan, as I said in my last chapter post, because it takes advantage of the Olympians’ weaknesses and paranoia. And the only way for it to go wrong was for a child to complete his quest against all odds despite having to 1) trek across the country, 2) face countless monsters, 3) thwart trickery from evil masterminds, and 4) trek across the country again. Percy really had very low chances to make it out alive. But he also lives off of spite and proving people wrong lol.
It’s interesting how each pjo book up until the final one is about Percy delaying a war in some way (kinda a theme with Riordan’s books lmao). The start of the chapter shows the beginnings of war with Hades’ army starting to rise up from the Underworld, causing massive earthquakes and fires and general chaos. Like a harbinger of a greater battle. In the immediate sense, it’s a taste of what could happen if an Olympic civil war occurs, but it’s also a bit of foreshadowing to the actual war that will take place in the future. Just like this whole book, it’s setting up what’s to come.
Continuing on that theme, Percy’s battle with Ares really culminates everything he’s learned on how to fight so far, and it sets the stage for what the readers should expect the rest of his battles to go in the series. It makes me think of the final climax of The Last Olympian, how Percy chooses to use his brain and his heart rather than his brawn against Luke, because those are the things that truly matter in the end. In this case, while Percy does use his strength and demigod powers, the reason he wins against Ares is because he uses his intelligence. It really correlates his battle with Echidna, since at that point he didn’t have enough experience to fight with more than just instincts. Actually since St. Louis, Percy has had to rely on his brain when confronting enemies, maybe that encounter influenced him to do that more. And with Ares, he finds that just his instincts doesn’t cut it. He forms a strategy vs Ares’ brute force. Percy even remembers Annabeth’s words from an earlier chapter: “Ares has strength. That’s all he has. Even strength has to bow to wisdom sometimes.” Like the old saying, the pen is mightier than the sword! Which is really ironic in this context lmao. Speaking of irony, it’s funny how Luke’s advice on how to sword fight helps Percy in his battle. The very man behind the robbery and evil plot being a reason Percy survives this quest lol. I know it’s addressed in hoo, but it’s strange how Ares is all brute force and no strategy, because the latter is such a huge part of war?? And it’s not like the ancient Greeks didn’t use strategy in their battles. But ig that’s what Athena is for 🤔
Other ways war and its effects is sprinkled in the chapter without an actual war in bullets bc I’m too tired to fully analyze these very sad things:
Percy mourning losing his mom (again)
Percy compartmentalizing his grief to focus on his mission
Despite winning his battle, Percy not feeling very victorious but instead feeling drained bc there’s no true winner for those in a war
Moving on to something a bit opposite, I can’t not talk about Annabeth giving Percy her camp necklace. Two people, potential enemies, reconciling as Annabeth says. The act is a physical symbol of Annabeth’s words from ch 16 (moreso than the oreos lol). She’s showing how she’s truly on Percy’s side, setting aside an ancient rivalry. In the face of war, Annabeth will fight with Percy and not against him. Kinda mirrors their moment in Blood of Olympus under the Parthenon doesn’t it? 🥹💖
Small things:
Can you believe a child taunted a literal god and the god fell for it
Like Ares could’ve been you’re beneath me and let him feel the wrath of Hades but instead he was like y’know what Ima fight this kid. he called me a coward.
Percy attributes his ability to observe things with his ADHD so ig that is a demigod trait. But he is extremely good at it.

I propose this as a prompt, feel free to ignore it if it's too cringy but some tropes are just too damn satisfying to ignore: during a quest, Nico loses all his memories of Percy (including that they're husbands) and can't even remember who is that beautiful stranger with sad green eyes. The only way to cure him? a true love kiss! (cheesy I know). What will Perseus do? seduce his husband back? (personally I think a Nico pov would be interesting but it's your call really, you can make anything interesting).
"Give. Them. Back." The man (Percy, he said his name was Percy) said as he gripped his sword tighter, pressing it against the god's throat.
Nico didn't understand what the big deal was. True, he may have some lagoons in his memory here and there, but he spent most of his teenage years not remembering his own mother's face. He still remembered Hazel, and Jason, and Reyna. The important things were still there.
So why was this Percy person so incensed with restoring his memory?
Zelus laughed at him.
"I didn't take anything, godling," he said haughtily. "The object I asked Nico to fetch for me had a powerful seal on it. Once he retrieved it, the seal moved, blocking the memory of whatever person he was thinking of."
"You did this on purpose," Percy said, standing back. "You just had to have your revenge on Nico!"
Nico blinked. Yes, he had done this quest for Zelus to not have the god of romantic jealousy mad at him but... the last time he remembered feeling that was back when his ex-boyfriend got too close to his patients, ages ago...
Why had it mattered to Nico to fix that now?
"The seal was placed by Anteros," the god spat at the name. "His magic can only be undone by a kiss of love returned."
Percy made a 'Ha!' sound and turned towards Nico, who closed his eyes as the god disappeared in an explosion of light.
"Hear that, Nico?" Percy said with a smile. He stepped closer to him. "I guess the way to bring your memory back was easier than we thought!"
"I mean, yeah, eventually," Nico said, getting a step back. He wasn't used to strangers cramping his personal space. "Thanks for helping me out, Percy, you really didn't have to."
Nico hadn't asked him. He had just asked him who he was when he found him louging on his apartment. A talk later and he had demanded to be taken to Zelus, sword-pen (neat trick, Nico wondered if he could write with it) already in hand.
Percy deflated and offered his hand again.
"Let's go back home, okay?" He asked gently. "We'll fix up everything there."
For some reason, he couldn't look away from Percy's eyes. Sea green, like the still waters in tropical paradises, but also darkened by a sadness that Nico couldn't comprehend.
He knew he lived with Percy, that was pretty obvious now, but why did he look so sad about Nico forgetting him?
He took Percy's hand gingerly and went back to the familiar shadow of his apartment. Before he could even find his center again Percy was hugging him, making Nico tense up.
"Um, Percy?" He asked awkwardly. "Are we... the kind of roommates who hug?"
It was very unbelievable. Nico didn't like people hugging him, much less people he wasn't family with.
"Right... Nico, can I kiss you?" he said suddenly. Nico's mind blanked.
He pushed him away.
"Um... listen, guy, you're cute, okay? Like, really, really cute," he said, looking at Percy lieing down on the floor with his legs spread and... yeah, that gave him some ideas. "And I know we live together but... I don't know you."
"That's the thing, Nico," he said. "If we kiss, you might remember me... we don't just live together. We're more than roommates."
"You mean like, we were dating or something?" He asked. He wondered how long they had been together.
"Try newlyweds," Percy said, a sad smile on his pretty face. "We got married three months ago."
Nico felt like he was kicked in the stomach by a cyclops.
"I married a stranger?!" He asked. "Why? I'm sure I'd remember that!"
"We're not strangers Nico!" Percy said, standing up. Nico backed away towards the kitchen. "We have known each other for years! I rescued you from Dr. Thorn with Thalia, I'm Tyson's older brother! We know each other!"
Nico paused. He looked at Percy again, trying to recall even a glimpse of him but...
Nothing. Just those amazing, beautiful, sad, green eyes.
"Okay, I can't believe I'm trusting you," he said. Those eyes wouldn't let him believe otherwise. "So if we're... married, that means us kissing is going to bring my memories back, right?"
Percy nodded. His sad eyes seemed alight with hope.
"Okay... go ahead," he closed his eyes and lightly puckered his lips. Bracing himself for the worst. He felt Percy's lips on his.
It was nice.
Very nice, actually. It was exactly how he liked to be kissed. Percy and him must have really loved each other.
A few seconds later, PErcy moved away, looking more hopeful than ever.
Nico shook his head.
"I'm sorry," he said. Percy's face fell. "It was a good kiss. Probably the best kiss I've ever had, but... I don't love you, Percy, I barely know you."
He expected many things, for those sad eyes to come back with a vengeance, for him to leave, ot maybe to get angry.
He didn't expect Percy to grin like a maniac and take his hand.
(Seriously, who did non-mindwiped Nico marry?!)
"That's okay, Ni," he said, thousand watt smile in place. "You fell in love with me once, you can fall in love with me again!"
"Huh?"
"Nico di Angelo, are you free tonight?"
Nico should say no. Nico should stay away and get used to the fact that he didn't remember his husband and maybe that was for the better.
But... he was trying so hard. And behind that smile, he could see some desperation in those beautiful eyes that had already charmed him...
He'd really like to remember this man, he realized. He'd like to know what he loved about him.
"As a matter of fact... I am."
