1. Who or what got you into F1?

-> my family! they've been enjoying motorsports for years so naturally, i ended up falling in love too. something about forced proximity lmaoo

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

-> kimi raikkönen!! as a child i would get really excited to see him on tv or on track, my parents said i recognized his car and all. i supported him always, followed his years out of f1 and all, he’s 100% my favorite of all time.

3. Who's your current favourite F1 driver?

-> i have two 2023/24 favorites: lewis hamilton and oscar piastri.

lewis has been a favorite of mine from the beginning, his racecraft has always been enjoyable to me. also, he’s one of the reasons why (alongside nico and schumi) i decided to support mercedes. he’s a big big inspiration for me, all of the things he has done are wonderful so i’ve never doubted him as one of my favorites.

oscar, on the other hand, is ofc a new addition to the ‘fav f1 driver’ list but is one that doesn’t surprise me! i saw him go up categories and loveeed his driving style. i was never a diehard fan but a supporter of his career for sure. when he got to f1 (and seb left) i knew who my new favorite was gonna be! (now i am, in fact, a diehard fan)

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

-> not a pairing but…a boy band…

they live on my head rent free, the videos (and the lore) were so funny (iconic). BUT, if i had to choose a pair, i would go for kimi and seb!! i had always wanted to see them as teammates bc of how well they got along, when it happened i was the happiest. also nico and lewis were my number ones back in the day and by consequence my biggest heartbreak.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

-> everyone in the family likes something different. some have their special reasons but in general they vary.

dad’s favorites are mclaren, lauda, and senna, my oldest sister’s are mercedes and button, my older brother redbull and alonso, younger sister ferrari and verstappen (don’t even ask), and my mom’s favorites were ferrari, prost, schumacher, and häkkinen. <3

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

-> this is such a hard question but i’ll go for the ones i rewatch the most: united states 2018, canada 2011, suzuka 2005, abu dhabi 2010, turkey 2020, and germany 2019.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

-> hockenheim, suzuka, sepang, interlagos, istanbul, spa, silverstone. my lovers fr.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

-> i have! i went to my first gp when i was almost one year old, it was france 2003 — nevertheless, the first one i remember going to/experiencing (faintly but i do) is the 2007 brazilian gp!

i’m lucky enough to have gone to multiple over the years and i’m so grateful to my family for it. 2022 and 2023 were the first years i was able to go by myself or with my friends/colleagues to races! (i did go a couple with my family + i go with my brother everywhere but yeah) it’s been amazing!

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

-> i’m very lucky to say yes, i have met a couple over the years and it’s been great! from the current grid i’ve met everyone but zhou and hülkenberg!!

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

-> FW14B, MP4/4, W11, F2002, RB19 AAAAAAAHQHEUJW. i believe this question goes more towards the liveries but i love those cars, they were such a wonder and the WAY they were driven. ugh. amazing. i love rewatching their races.

11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?

-> ok so, i would say george but since he’s still racing i’m not counting it. i’ll go with pastor maldonado. HEAR ME OUT. it was an insane day, i was ten but i still remember how crazy everyone felt there in barcelona, like what just happened. also insane to think about how it was pure pace, like yes he was lucky on saturday but sunday was his. ALSO having kimi on the podium is a huge bonus.

12. Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can either be inspirational or hilarious.

1. Who or what got you into F1?

Okay, hear me out. Insta reels in early 2023. For some reason, my insta algorithm decided that I want to see F1 content. It started with clips from races and driver memes. Then insta showed me Charles Leclerc and here we are now.

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

Charles Leclerc was the first driver I supported and I still do. He made me a Ferrari fan (thanks for that Charles). He is no longer my favorite driver, but he’s still up there. I still believe that he’s one of the best human beings to wander the earth.

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

My favorite current driver is Alex Albon. He is just one of the people you simply can’t not like.

But I have to admit, my all time favorite driver is Sebastian Vettel. He is just such an awesome person in every aspect of life. An outstanding driver, and human.

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

There are a bunch that I like, but at the top of the list are Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Everything about them just fits. With Nando being the war criminal who suddenly decides to be nice to his new teammate, and Lance’s (Estie) Bestie hating Nando, and the two of them just living in their own little bubble, not caring about the rest of the world. Idk, they make me happy.

But Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen are very close. Even though they constantly break my heart. I wish I could have witnessed the 2021 season just to see their peak together, to see how thankful Max was for everything that Checo has done for him.

There is no Brasil 22 in Ba Sing Se.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

My brother likes McLaren, especially Lando Norris. But he’s not interested enough to watch the races, he just watches the highlights.

The rest of my family hate that I like F1, because it takes up the whole weekend. But they sometimes talk about Michael Schumacher and a few of the other German drivers they know.

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

I’m fairly new and am too busy to watch a lot of the older races, so I have to go with Singapore 23. Just because Carlos won with the highest IQ ever and it was perfect.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

As a more or less passionate sim driver, I gotta go with which circuits are in my opinion the most fun to drive. I haven’t driven all of the circuits yet, but the ones I currently like the most are Monza and Red Bull Ring.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

I haven’t, too expensive. But there are three circuits relatively close to where I live, so if I ever win the lotto, I’ll probably visit the Red Bull Ring or Zandvoort.

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

I have not. But Alex did a meet and greet in Bangkok a week after I was there. You can imagine how sad I was.

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

Not really. I love that the current ones are relatively safe, compared to the older ones.

11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?

That’s got to be Pierre Gasly.

12. Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can either be inspirational or hilarious.

The History of the Mercedes F1 Team

I was inspired by the videos Sky showed during testing of the histories of Aston Martin and Alpine during testing so I thought I would do Mercedes, as this team has one of the weirder histories in F1, bear in mind I have just used the results from the train from Tyrell down to the present-day Mercedes team - so the two championships the original Mercedes team have aren’t included

Tyrell Racing (1968 - 1998)

Eventually, in 1998 and in the face of dwindling form and ill health, Ken Tyrell sold his team to British American Tobacco, the team becoming British American Racing.

British American Racing and BAR Lucky Strike Honda (1999 - 2005)

At the end of 2005, Honda obtained 100% ownership of BAR from British American Tobacco, completing their ambition to become a full F1 manufacturer team. In addition, Jenson Button's Williams contract was bought out for US$30 million, and Button signed a multi-year contract with Honda.

Honda Racing F1 Team (2006 - 2008)

Honda suddenly exited the sport at the end of the 2008 season, unwilling to continue the Brackley-based team's $300 million budget and staff of 700 during the global economic crisis.

The team continued to work on the Honda RA109 for the 2009 season while Honda attempted to sell the racing team.

Ross Brawn bought the team for £1 in order to keep the team in the sport

Brawn GP Formula One Team (2009)

On 16 November 2009 it was officially announced that Daimler AG in partnership with Aabar Investments had purchased a 75.1% stake in Brawn GP (Daimler AG: 45.1%; Aabar: 30%).

It was rumoured that the partnership paid £110m for the 75.1%. The team would be rebranded as Mercedes GP for 2010. The remaining 24.9% stake is Ross Brawn's in partnership with Nick Fry. The team used the Brawn GP base in Brackley for its operations and Brawn stayed on as team principal until the end of the 2013 season.

What's a beautiful girl like you doing in a club all by herself?

Another party, this time in Monaco. Your glass, filled with what seemed like a very expensive gin, vibrated to the the loud music playing in the club.

Let loose. You thought to yourself slightly lowering your body-con black dress and searching for familiar faces.

You looked around the VIP party you had been invited to. Ever since your dad's business put him on the "Forbes Richest" list your reputation had skyrocketed along with it. You were an A-lister yourself at this point, everyone longed for your appearance at their events, and as if your life depended on it, you attended. Your social media and events presence had helped you befriend the hottest models and richest rappers in the game and you quite enjoyed the lavish lifestyle.

You and your dad had flown down for the Monaco GP weekend, courtesy of the team principal of the most popular F1 team, Toto Wolff. Surprisingly, it was your first Grand Prix, and probably your last. The hospitality was, as usual, amazing but you found watching cars go around in circles slightly boring.

You took a rather large sip of your gin and started to tune into the beat, your body processing the large quantities of alcohol you had decided to ingest.

Because you hadn't been invited to the Grand Prix by a driver in particular and had failed to engage with any during the "boring" weekend, you found yourself attending the party and having to fit in all by yourself. Making your way through the club you encountered a few drivers, whom you recognised and recognised you, and their respective guests. You knew you weren't an easy face to forget, so it didn't take long before a few people started commenting about your presence.

Making yourself comfortable around the younger squad of drivers, your body swayed to the loud music that hit your ears. Your eyes shut as you engaged with the environment, allowing the melodies and strong base to sway you in.

"You're a Mercedes guest, aren't you?" A familiar voice rang through. Russell. Your eyes opened to look at the briton who stood very close to your ear, making sure his words were getting to you just fine. You nodded quickly, downing your drink before replying to him "Well, my dad is. I just tagged along"

His lips turned into a small smile as he took a good glance at you, leaning closer again he chatted a bit more; "and what did you think of it?"

"Not my vibe" You shrugged jokingly. "This though, is!" You put your empty glass down in a nearby table and pulled George into what seemed like a circle of people dancing, as In Da Club by 50 Cent started playing.

You both started dancing to the song, George's friends joined, and in no time you set yourself in the party ambient, drenching yourself in alcohol as more bottles were brought in at the request of Russell, Latifi, and a few other younger drivers you hadn't gotten your way around.

0 To 100 / The Catch up - by Drake came through the speaker.

This DJ knew his set you thought, before excusing yourself from the crowd that had embraced you. Feeling the need for a switch of environment you made your way to the bar. On your way, you drunkly greeted a few familiar faces, Bella Hadid and what looked like some actors who had come down for the Grand Prix.

Sitting on an empty stool at one of the bars in the Amber Lounge you asked the bartender for a glass of your favourite, gin. Your head nodded to the beat, it pounded hard. You knew you were more than tipsy at that point, but there was no sign of slowing down.

"Ayo! Bring us a bottle of your most expensive Prosecco!" You heard a voice yell through a line of people standing at the bar. A familiar voice.

His voice sang along to the lyrics, you were tempted to turn around to check who was yelling right behind your ear but your motion to turn was interrupted by the glass of gin you had requested being brought to you.

This was fun! AO3 archaeology always tickles me, like the layers of previous fandoms and Yuletide oneshots (before I got banned from Yuletide lol). Patterns IDK, I don't think I'm very good at writing openings generally (as soon as I have time I want to rewrite the first part of Roman Holiday bc I don't like it at all!). Quite a few opening with dialogue (my F1BB fic also opens with dialogue honk).

Favourites are the 1D time traveller's wife fic for ~sentimental reasons - that's still the longest and by far the most popular thing I've ever written lol. I also like the opening of quite pretty - straight off this is a silly story about foot stuff, and I like the JK voice.

“It’s Sunday sweetheart. Which means it’s race day.”

“Are we gonna have to watch it all day?” Victoria whined.

“Nothing comes between me and the motor racing.” Ethan shrugged.

“Do I actually come second to formula one? That’s actually kind of hilarious.” Victoria laughed a little.

“Only every other Sunday. The rest of the time I’m yours completely.” Ethan chuckled bringing Victoria into his embrace.

He took her by the hand and led them to the couch, sitting down first so Victoria could lean back into his embrace, Ethan wrapped his arms around her as Victoria snuggled against his chest.

“How long have you been a fan of formula one?” Victoria asked.

“Since I was a kid. I’ve always loved cars and the excitement is always great to watch.” Ethan replied.

“Dad and Will like it as well. I’ve never been particularly bothered.” Victoria shrugged. “So who are we routing for today?”

Ethan grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, finding the correct channel where the race was. As he found it, the cars were lining up on the track.

“See the bright red cars? The ones in 4th and 5th? That’s who we want.” Ethan gestured to the TV.

“Okay. And who are they?”

“Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.”

“Are they the best?”

“Vettel is. But the one who will probably win is the one right at the front Lewis Hamilton. He’s currently leading the championship.”

The cars started to move off their positions, all swarming round the track. Victoria had a hard time keeping up with them. She could feel Ethan tensing up against her.

“Who knew a sport could work you up to much.” Victoria teased looking up at him.

“It’s exciting Rookie.”

“Even the interns don’t frustrate you as much.” Victoria laughed.

“That’s a different kind of frustration.” Ethan replied.

“Talk to me. What’s happening here?” Victoria looked at the screen.

“Well to no surprise, Hamilton is leading, he does have the best car, then his teammate is behind him, then the two Ferrari’s.” Ethan explained.

“Who’s the car behind them?”

“That’s Max Verstappen and Red Bull.”

“Oh I’ve heard that name before. I think Bryce likes them. I overheard him talking about him once.”

“They’ve never won a championship. Max has a bit of a hot temper.” Ethan said.

Suddenly on the screen, two of the cars collided and they were sent spinning. Debris scattered the track as the tyres rolled in all directions.

“Oh my god!” Victoria covered her eyes as the crash was replayed in slow motion.

“It’s okay Vic, they’re okay. Look, they’re climbing out of their cars.” Ethan chuckled rubbing Victoria’s arm gently.

Victoria looked through fingertips and saw the two drivers involved in the crash getting out of their cars and walking away from the scene.

“How did they escape from that?” Victoria asked.

“F1 cars are built to be as safe as possible.” Ethan replied.

Victoria watched the drivers walk off the track, recognising one of them.

“Wait! That’s...”

“Vettel. Yep. And Verstappen. It was the latter’s fault.” Ethan shrugged.

“Looks like your favourite team aren’t gonna win today.”

“Leclerc is still there. Although Hamilton looks unstoppable today.”

“I like Hamilton. Not the musical, the driver. He has a nice car.” Victoria said.

Ethan laughed tightening his arms around her. “God I love you.”

Both froze. Victoria’s eyes widened. Did she hear him correctly? Did he just say that he loved her?

Ethan could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He wanted to say those words for a long time, but his plan was something along the lines of the opera and then dinner.

“Did I hear that right?” Victoria sat up to look at him.

“I may have had a better plan than to say it like that.” Ethan replied.

“Oh yeah? And what did that involve?” Victoria smirked as she straddled him.

“Something to do with the opera and then dinner. Maybe over dessert?” Ethan chuckled.

“That sounds lush. But I preferred how you said it now. And I should say it back. I love you too.” Victoria smiled.

Ethan felt as if he was on cloud nine. Knowing actions spoke louder than words, he leaned forward to press his lips to Victoria’s, his hands finding their way into her messy blonde locks as hers wrapped around his neck.

“You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that.” Ethan broke apart, resting his forehead against Victoria’s.

“Believe me, I’ve wanted to say it for a long time. I just didn’t want to pressure you. It took you forever for you to act on your feelings, I didn’t want to make you feel like I was rushing you.”

Ethan answered with another kiss, a softer and more gentler one.

“Falling in love with you was the best thing to have ever happened to me.” Ethan smiled.

“Really?” Victoria said, eyes glistening with emotion.

“Really Vic. I couldn’t think of a better person to have by my side for the rest of my life.”

Victoria snuggled back against Ethan’s chest, feeling safe and secure as his ran his hand through her blonde hair.

“Oh look, Hamilton is 5 seconds ahead.”

Ethan laughed. “He is the best driver after all.”

“Maybe we should go to a Grand Prix one day. Then I can see you in your natural habitat.” Victoria said.

“I thought my natural habitat was at the hospital?” Ethan replied.

“After this, I’m retracting that statement. Seeing Ethan Ramsey getting excited over cars is definitely much more exciting. Then again it does play to the whole boys and their toys stereotypes.” Victoria laughed.

“I’ll take that over shouting at interns. Natural habitats are supposed to be fun.”

“And here’s me thinking you did find shouting at interns fun. Guess I didn’t know you as well as I thought I did.” Victoria laughed pressing a kiss to his cheek.

The couple laid on the sofa as they continued to watch the race, completely content and safe with each other. It seemed like the race went on for hours before finally, the first car passed the checkered flag.

“Hamilton won!” Victoria smiled.

“Told you he would. Completely uneventful.” Ethan rolled his eyes with a small smile.

“I still find it all confusing. It’s so technical. You’ll have to explain it again to me in the future.” Victoria said.

“It could take a while.” Ethan chuckled.

“I’m a great listener and you have a nice voice so it’s very unlikely I’ll fall asleep.”

Ethan laughed as he leant down to kiss Victoria.

“I’m glad you like my voice Rookie.”

“One of the many things I love about you.”

Ethan tightened his arms around the woman he loved as she snuggled up to him. If he spent the rest of his life explaining one of his passions, he was glad Victoria would be the one listening.

Helmet Watch 2023

So, I had way too much fun rating all the team’s liveries this year (if you missed any of it you can find my thoughts here), so much so that I’ve decided to rate all the driver’s helmets as well! (I’ve also had a helmet tag on my blog pretty much ever since I got back into watching F1 because I just love how much effort gets put into each drivers helmet design... and I’m a Seb fan. Stanning helmet designs is in my blood by default)

Under a read more bc we have A LOT to get through! (Listed in alphabetical order by surname bc that just felt the best way to organise it)

Alexander Albon (Williams)

Starting off very, very strong. I LOVE the blue and red pairing, it looks so clean but so eye catching at the same time. And the stripes of the Thai flag is a really nice touch. I’m not sure why there’s the odd flash of light blue though?? It kinda feels like an afterthought.

Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)

I do like the colour scheme, it just feels a tad busy with all the various stripes. But it is a really nice update to his traditional helmet design. I wish the Aston Martin wings were in the darker blue though, they would stand out so much better.

Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo)

I do love me a mix of metallic finishes. The colour scheme as a whole is also top tier, the softer metallic blue with the more glittery charcoal, paired with the crème white is excellent. The overall design is super clean and looks really slick, his partner Tiffany who designed it did a really nice job!!

Pierre Gasly (Alpine)

CHROME MY MOST BELOVED!!!

I really liked his Monaco helmet last year and his design for this year is almost as good. I am obsessed with mixed finishes so the chrome on the crème white base it so nice, I like the pops of red, and the thin French flag going down the middle is a nice touch.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)

So so so so much yes. There’s just SO MUCH I love about his 2023 design. Echoing his original helmet design with the yellow, but mixing in the purple from recent years. And the subtle rainbow gradient lines are so pretty and so perfect. And it looks gorgeous with the black Merc livery, which is always an excellent plus.

Nico Hulkenberg (Haas)

You know what... I really like it. The paint splatter effect is so pretty, I don’t recall seeing it on a helmet before and I think it looks great! It helps that there’s three different shades of orange to give some dimension. I am also obsessed with the glittery metallic purple. It works really well with the orange, and as it’s a warm-toned it should look somewhat coherent with the red in the Haas livery.

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)

Not gonna lie, I got major Schumi vibes when I saw this. Which did make me every so slightly weepy, but he has made it slightly his own with the addition of the Monaco flag. It’s really simple, but it works. But like so much of F1 this year I really wish it was glossy instead of matte.

Kevin Magnussen (Haas)

Gotta respect the consistency Kevin has had with his helmet design since 2014. The colour scheme is also great, it’ll look really nice with the Haas livery, and stand out against his team mate’s (always nice to be able to tell the difference, looking at you 2013 yellow helmet Brocedes). I’m not overly wowed, but I also don’t hate it, it’s a really solid design.

Lando Norris (McLaren)

F1 teams take note bc THIS is how you make exposed carbon work!. The design feels properly thought out, so it doesn’t feel like anything is missing, as opposed to a few of the car liveries this year. And like Lewis’ helmet with the Merc livery, the simple two colour palette looks so good. Probably my favourite helmet design of Lando’s thus far.

Yes. Absolutely no notes. Excellent work. Bloody gorgeous.

Sergio Perez (Red Bull)

It’s ever so slightly busy, but I still do like it!! The white and grey is the perfect base for all the bright pops of colour, and the pattern is very funky. Honestly it’s the Red Bull logo that lets it down for me with the different shade of yellow. If it was the same chartreuse as the accents it would look really good.

Oscar Piastri (McLaren)

I have mixed feelings about this one. One the one hand I love how bright and colourful it is (unlike the MCL60) and I think the colour scheme is really fun (peep the silver holo!!). On the other, the design and layout feels a little too busy. However I do think it will still look really nice with the car, and as always bonus points for not being matte.

George Russell (Mercedes)

I LOVE the shade of blue George picked, it’s really bright which will go really well with the black livery. Though it does remind me of the 2014 Malaysia helmet that Lewis never got to use (which, after 9 years, I’m still mad about) which colour scheme wise I definitely prefer. Overall it’s another super clean design which isn’t too simple that it looks plain.

Carlos Sainz Jr (Ferrari)

I find it a bit wild that Carlos and Fernando have done updates of their classic designs in the same year. Anyway, the geometric pattern is fun! It does make it look a lot more dynamic than just flat lines, though the black feels a bit jarring and out of place to me. I can only assume it’s to differentiate from Charles’ all red helmet.

Lance Stroll (Aston Martin)

Lance is once again staying true to the AM brand and I’m honestly not that mad about it. As a British Racing Green enthusiast I loooooove the base colour, especially bc it’s both glossy and has a super subtle sparkle to it!!! The Aston Martin wings looks great solid as opposed to an outline, but for me they’re a bit too big. And I’m not really sure why there’s a blue outline on the top, white or silver would have looked more coherent.

Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri)

I looooooooove this design so much!!! It’s so different, which I always appreciate, and I always enjoy it when a driver pays homage to their home country/heritage. I should add that we have a Japanese Maple tree in our garden (which is what the leaves are) and using different colour leaves is so so so pretty. I wish he had been able to put the Alpha Tauri logo in a different colour to make it look more coherent.

Nyck de Vries (Alpha Tauri)

I really like the colour scheme on this one, incorporating hints of Dutch orange into the navy and white AT colour scheme works so well, and I also like the flashes of lighter blue. And I especially love the slivers of silver holo, I just wish there was a tad more to contrast against the matte finish.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull)

Obviously, I do have my Seb fan bias of there only being one superior ‘white helmet with driver’s flag colours’ design, but this does look nice. It’s really clean, and unlike Perez’s the Red Bull logo feels like it fits in with the design much better. But, I do feel like it could use a little jazzing up, maybe making the dark blue stripes a glossy metallic.

Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo)

Lad is really going for the paddock fashionista title and I respect that. I adored his porcelain design at Abu Dhabi, so the ode to that around the visor is really cool (peep the smidge of silver holo, more of that please!!). I like that it’s an overall warm toned colour palette that should complement the red and black Alfa well. It’s so bright and I think it will really stand out at both day and night races.

top 10 f1 races!

I'll only list the races I have personally watched (and remember :P)

10) China 2011. An underrated Grand Prix. From the Button boxing at Red Bull's garage moment, to the continuous leader swaps, this race was superb to watch! The close multi-battle up front was a fun one. I had no idea who would win right until the end. I'm surprised it's not mentioned a lot nowadays, but this race had a great enjoyment factor

9) Brazil 2016. Rain, lots of rain. Hamilton and Verstappen wet racing masterclass. The emotional Massa goodbye after his 'career-ending' crash. Hamilton's first ever Brazil win, great race!

8) Spain 2016. To see a Dutchman drive for a top team after waiting for so long was already exciting. To then see those dominating Mercs crash right at the beginning giving opportunity to a surprise podium (not just for Verstappen) made the race even more exciting. But that Verstappen would actually win on his Red Bull debut, holding off the much more experienced Raikkonen, that was amazing to witness!

7) Turkey 2020. After a surprising (and wet) qualification, the race which followed was nothing short of pure fun. I've never been a fan of the Turkey track, but this time it proved me wrong. The spins, the going wide, the overtakes, the spins part 2, the podium battle scramble, the surprise Hamilton win (yes, it actually was lol) and subsequent world championship win, what a race this one was!

6) Azerbaijan 2017. Nuts! I mean what more is there to say about that Grand Prix. Crazy incidents, crazy race. It made a boring track look fantastic, that should tell everything lol

5) Germany 2019. Rain, spins, crashes, some sexy overtakes, this race had it all yet again. The Stroll gamble paying off, Kvyat driving the race of his life, Vettel taking revange for the previous year, another Verstappen win, loved it!

4) Italy 2020 (Monza). An unique race for the fact that this time we didn't need any rain to have such an odd race/result. But the Magnussen and LeClerc retirement, the Hamilton penalty, and strong showings of both McLarens made this one a fantastic race. Even more so since Gasly and Stroll drove the races of their lives too, with Gasly taking home his maiden win. 2020 has been such a weird year, and the Monza 2020 podium might have been even weirder

3) Brazil 2008. The half a lap world champion. How more dramatic could you end a season? Changing conditions yet again, strategic pitstop battles, and tense right till the end. Those last few laps, hell corners even, holy crap!

2) Canada 2011. I called Azerbaijan 2017 nuts, but this one was nuts nuts! I love rain races, and this one was no exception. From the McLarens touching, to the Alonso-Button contact, to Button falling to the back of the grid only to win the race in the last lap, this race had it all. A long, but great Grand Prix!

1) Brazil 2012. An absolute nailbiter! That Vettel Lap 1 incident (to this day I’m still surprised the car kept running) blew the championship wide open. Changing conditions, Hulk leading, Hulk’s collision, championship remaining up for grabs, this race had everything. My favourite! And there’s plenty of other great races which didn’t even make the cut (Brazil 2007, Malaysia 2012, Japan 2005 to name a couple), or which I don’t remember anymore. There have been many good races since I started watching. I could probably make two more lists lol

Ones to Watch in Formula 1 2019

With the season finale of the winter break™ fast approaching, here are my drivers to look out for as we approach F1′s 70th season.

The Safety Car driver

Although he is never on the official driver entry list for any F1 race or team, whenever you see him in a race, he’s always leading. In fact, I can’t think of a time when he was on track and WASN’T in 1st place. It’s only a matter of time before he’s finally able to win a race, and this season could be his best chance in a while. Also seems to follow the philosophy of winning at the slowest possible pace. Due to the Safety Car being a Mercedes, this could lead to some 1-2-3 results, in a conspiracy to help Mercedes win the Constructors title.

Lastname

Although he has disappeared since his brief appearances at Australia and Baku last year, he immediately showed immense talent, putting Kimi Raikkonen under pressure in Melbourne. Should he take part in any race in 2019, he’s already proven that he’s a force (india) to be reckoned with.

Rich Energy

Just watch out for them, really, and should you ever see a can of Rich Energy, report it immediately to the authorities. Unknown reward, but can wanted, empty or full.

Daniil Kvyat

With Ericsson having departed the sport at the end of 2018, Haas lost their favourite driver to blame Grosjean’s crashes on. As such, they have appointed Kvyat to the position instead. However, with Kvyat’s prolific record of crashing, he might actually be responsible for a few of Grosjean’s incidents, unlike Marcus.

British Grand Prix

First one after Brexit. Don’t mention Brexit. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right.

F1 Viewing Figures

With F1 coverage moving away from "free minus the license fee” TV, it’ll be interesting to see how many Channel 4 viewers will be willing to pay to watch David Croft commentate on races.

Overuse of Haas Pun

It Haas to happen every season. Will Buxton is the prime suspect.

Williams

With the team’s recent downturn in performance, many expect them to change their name to “Hispania Racing Team” if the drop off continues. Claire Williams Waire Clilliams has suggested that they’re sandbagging, so they may only be 1 second slower than the 9th quickest car, rather than 6 seconds slower.
