So one fact from my investigation of the Matrix plagiarism case that drove me absolutely insane but I'm not sure I ever made a post about was her explanation for why the press didn't cover her "victory"
So for people who weren't around for that, look up "Sophia Stewart" on my blog, but long story short: there's a viral story claiming that the premise for The Matrix & The Terminator were stolen from a writer named Sophia Stewart, and that she won a billion dollars in a lawsuit. She actually lost her case, but a mistaken article from a Utah community college magazine spread online, and she still regularly does media appearances based on the idea she won. That's what fascinates me about the case: unfounded plagiarism accusations are a dime a dozen, but the bizarre fluke of a community college sophomore's journalism project making a mistake & that mistaken article going viral has elevated this one to being the most famous one
A major element of this is a narrative relating to race and gender, but that's a narrative she denies in that very Utah community college article. In her view, Hollywood isn't oppressing her for being black. They're oppressing her for being Christian.
Because I got my hands on a copy of her treatment (no, she never wrote an actual script) & I discovered that even most people who've debunked the story never read her pitch because it has nothing in common with The Matrix or The Terminator besides vague plot beats (a chosen one, robots used to rule over a society but not ruling the society themselves). It is, in fact, a new age-y evangelical Christian planet-hopping space opera filled with rants about the powers of the pyramids and the like. The treatment spends like seven pages raving about banks and the media before it introduces the hero, who is a literal, not figurative, Space Jesus. It ends with a mass sacrifice of his cultists followers to grant him power, an epic and stirring Jonestown moment, at which point the final battle happens over the course of a couple lines bc when writing a pitch for a movie five gazillion pages of lore is more important than detailing the climax of the film. There's a lot more to it than that (and tons of wild parts I never posted) but that's the gist
But every now and then in an interview, someone asks, "hey, why can't we find a story saying you won besides this dubious one?" And here is her explanation:
'The reason you have not seen any of this in the media is because Warner Brothers parent company is AOL-Time Warner... this GIANT owns 95 percent of the media... let me give you a clue as to what they own in the media business... New York Times papers/magazines, LA Times papers/magazines, People Magazine, CNN news, Extra, Celebrity Justice, Entertainment Tonight, HBO, New Line Cinema, DreamWorks, Newsweek, Village Roadshow and many, many more! They are not going to report on themselves. They have been suppressing my case for years.'"
So: Warner Bros owns the media. 95% of it. This explanation is wrong. But also it's...really funny.
The AOL-Time Warner merger had happened a few years before this, and it was already regarded as the worst merger in corporate history. Like. Historically bad. Far from ruling the world with corporate synergy up the wazoo, AOL-Time Warner was horribly disorganized, with most companies operating independently from one another and all of them at odds. There's a concentrated plan to destroy her from the dogshit company that couldn't do anything!
But it was never the case that they owned 95 percent of the media. They don't even own a lot of this list. Let's go one by one
New York Times: owned by the same family since forever
Los Angeles Times: owned at the time by Tribune Media, who owned several TV stations affiliated with The WB. Owning The WB affiliates never counted as "controlling the media" at any point, I think, but you know the old adage: "whoever controls the airing of One Tree Hill in the Los Angeles metro market controls the power........"
People Magazine: owned by Time, she's got this one
CNN: owned by Warner, she's got this one. Why MSNBC (owned by Microsoft and NBC at the time, though Microsoft was an absentee father already trying to sell it off) or Fox News (a network that spent like 25% of its time attacking Hollywood, often with claims that they target Christians!) never covered her story is left curiously unexplained. I don't know how far back Fox News' archives go, but I did search since I thought they'd be the most likely to cover this, and: no results
Extra: a celebrity gossip show owned by Warner Bros, she's got this one
Entertainment Tonight: owned by Paramount, a rival studio with every reason to report bad legal news for Warner Bros, and yet near as I can tell, they never covered this case. I'm starting to think it may not be true
Celebrity Justice: what the fuck is Celebrity Justice? It was...a short-lived & obscure celebrity gossip show that indirectly lead to TMZ?
HBO: owned by Warner Bros, she's got this one
New Line Cinema: so she's saying this one bc it had just produced Lord of the Rings. But while they're known for that now, we really should put it into context how much of an anomaly LotR was. New Line Cinema spent most of its history producing low-budget horror & comedy films, made Lord of the Rings, never produced another film with a similar scale, and were shut down a few years later. Actually, there's a whole story about how another film they released the same year as Fellowship of the Ring flopped so hard it effectively cancelled out its success & got the head of the company fired, but that's for another time. They were not so much Hollywood power players as a studio that accidentally lucked into the biggest film trilogy of all time in between Friday the 13th sequels, but they were owned by Warners, so
Dreamworks: never owned by Warner Bros at any point, it was straight up an independent studio at the time whose distribution deal was with Universal. It looks like they co-produced some films with Warner Bros, but they were never owned by them.
Newsweek: at the time owned by the Washington Post
Village Roadshow: they had a co-production and distribution deal with Warner Bros, but were an independent Australian company that made movies and theme parks. Again, a company collaborating with Warner Bros doesn't mean it owns them
"and many, many more!" She claimed the company owns 95% OF ALL MEDIA and she just gave up listing who they own after a dozen. And she was wrong about half of them! She had to resort to listing "Celebrity Justice" as a platform on par with the New York Times and just kind of shrugged at all the others. Clearly, you can't trust any press, besides Utah community college magazines

We were talking about social robots and AI in class today and watched an interview recording of that one robot Sophia
The interviewers just kept bringing up “robots are gonna take over the world!!” stuff and my classmates were all getting freaked out
Then there’s me, local worker drone, sitting there evil laughing cause they have no idea that the robot they’re so scared of is literally sitting in the same room as them
Being stuck in a human body sucks but at least fun stuff like this happens sometimes lol

even more lies of P notes!!
His hair turns blue for some attacks! (maybe this has been changed) you know who else's got blue hair? Sophia! Colours are important in storytelling, so the blue motif seems important. (and it does look like his hair turns blue and it isn’t just the lighting rim)
It is interesting that the colour of such a benevolent character, sophia, is also the colour of the Petrification Disease and the substance Ergo which decimated the city.
but if she’s some sort of villain, nothing of the promotional material betrays it, and the interview with Allegra Marland doesn’t seem to suggest it either. She does say that sophia’s been through a lot, and that she is more like a goddess. She doesn’t seem to be affected by the spores. Curious! :O
“blue angel”... hmm... doesn’t that sound a little like... Sophia?!?
So also other people are speculating that you’ll have to break all 4 laws to fully become human. 1) can’t disobey their creators (unless that comes in conflict with other laws) 2) can’t harm a human 3) must protect human life 4) can’t lie. (not in order) So this is heavily influenced by Aismov’s Laws of Robotics.
P lying/disobeying his OWN FATHER D: !
[From Taiwan Event] It seems like either gepetto (that seems to be an early korean romanization) has asked p to kill something and you have a choice to spare it, or he’s lying to gepetto about actually killing the beast or both.

Epilogue- Wonderful World
It is still a Wonderful World.
Congratulations Dr. Seon Yul or do you prefer Dr. Jacob? Not only you are the most famous cardiologist in Germany but voted also as the sexiest man in the Medical world here, too, and your fans especially your students were a bit sad when you were erased from the most eligible bachelor's list this year.
Seon Yul's other name in Germany is Jacob.
"Well, thank you, Mia. I am sorry if I made them sad, you have to blame my wife for that mainly" He laughed so hard and blushed.
People were shocked you are married already- the interviewer said. Seon Yul smiled and answered back while showing his ring "Yes, 2 years now". I didn't know this is a thing in Germany, this list. I came here only to work. So, I was married already when I began teaching and made this splash if you will.
And work you did and more, Doctor Genius. You are the youngest cardiologist to be voted number one this month and nominee for a prestigious award. They call you Doctor AI now. Tell us about this invention of yours, Professor.
"Well, I still do have heart problems and when I was young, I nearly died because of it. Now, I feel better and I am better. That is why I choose cardiology as my specialization. The heart is like the sum of all fears and joy. It reminds us we are alive. I also love photography. I was thinking of Artificial intelligence and how it can help and not scare us. I made this predictive analytics for personalized therapy that increases image acquisition, as well as robotics for better diagnosis, rehabilitation and treatment. We shouldn't be scared of AI. AI is here we should embrace it. Besides, he continued while looking at someone, AI is just an assistant, a helper if you will, what matters most is still us, our brain, our hand and our humane feelings. AI wouldn’t do something we don’t want. It is here to help.
Across the room, Soo Hyun or as she is called here now, Sophia. Dr. Sophia and Professor Sophia, too. She looks at him with extreme pride of what he has become. Not only pride but admiration of not just what he accomplished but by what he looks now- hot. He looks like a model straight from a photo shoot, wearing black suit and his glasses only adds to his sexiness and confidence which actually is very fitting as the sexiest man alive in Germany. Her belly is having butterflies just thinking and looking at her husband. Looking at her wedding ring, she reminisce their intimate wedding. When she followed him here in Germany, the next month they got married. It was just the two of them, the Las Vegas kind but of course, legal. Seon Yul wanted a bigger one, with her family but she thought otherwise, she aren't ready yet to go back to those memories of home. She wanted this for them alone, and that is all that matters and so they did.
What was the inspiration of your innovation and of everything that's been happening in your life? To add, what is your advice for medical students like you as they go on their journey?
Never give up, Seon yul said. "As for the inspiration, Hmmm, my family is in heaven and I hope I am making them proud. Then, I met a woman who at first I didn't really like. That woman never left me alone and I realized I was in love with her. She gave me another reason to live and feel alive. I thought that we are the same and if I can heal her heart then maybe I can heal mine. So, I want to spend my life healing my wife's heart as I continue to heal mine "
How sweet and very rare for a Physician to be so romantic. Thank you for your time, Professor and Good Luck!
The interview ended. Seon Yul shook hand with Mia, the interviewer from the magazine. He then reached for Soo Hyun and hugged her. She wanted to break away for there are some people in the room but he held her tightly and she was helpless. She kissed his cheek and both smile shyly. They held hands and went home.
For 2 years, they cuddled, made love, made new names for themselves, made new friends but never forgetting home. A year after their 1st Christmas together, they received news that Kim Joon died after he collapsed during the hearing. He was for the most part in comatose at that time. As their 2nd holidays season approaches, near the fireplace with Christmas decorations and gifts for each other, sitting side by side, well Soo Hyun sitting in Seon Yul's lap, his favorite position as he calls it, she asked if he wanted to have a family. "I am sorry that I cannot bear a child anymore. I know you want to have a family. I am getting old too". Seon Yul touched her face and put her extra hair back at her ear, and said "All my life, I only wanted one thing- YOU. My family is YOU. With baby or not, you are my baby. You will never grow old. You will always be my baby. Besides, you already have a son. I am ok with that. He can be my son, too." Soo Hyun's chest is about to explode by his words and started crying. She missed Gun woo , she missed home, the orphanage but most importantly she cries of how lucky she is to be loved by such a good man. Seon Yul kissed her slowly and passionately. Slow kisses are their thing and they sure do take their time. Seon Yul stopped , rasing eyebrows from Soo Hyun, "what is wrong? she asked. "Do you want to go home? " She was surprised by the question. Before she can answered he said "Let us go home, then".
But your life is here, Seon Yul. He replied "My life is wherever you are. Always remember that. As long as we are together. Mind, body and soul. As long as we have each other. Nothing else matters.
Seon Yul and Soo Hyun lived the rest of their lives loving each other while healing each other. At last, now, they are both at peace. They still have nightmares but now they have each other and together they face it and sleep through it forever. They went home after 2 years but Seon Yul continued his practice in Germany and goes back home every 3 months and during the holiday season.
Gun woo, this is Seon Yul, my husband. You will always have your Dad but can he be your friend, at least? Soo Hyun asked while putting flowers in his grave. Despite of everything that has happened over the last 10 years of their lives, here they are back to where it started.
"I love you, Soo hyun. I love you, Seon Yul".
Two worlds, two souls beat as one. All the hurt in the world couldn't break the one thing that makes us whole- love. Indeed, it is still a wonderful world.
Note from the Author: Goodbye Seon Yul x Soo Hyun! There you have it folks! I am so emotional right now. I love them both so much and they deserve this happy ending. I hope you like it. Thank you so much for joining me on this story that started to be like 1 shot but now near 30k words! God Bless you everyone and remember to heal when needed for the world may be cruel but they don't last forever. It is still a wonderful world. I love you all! See you, soon!

More DBH Becomes Reality: Robots Interact with the Press
An Interview with Ameca (who has a body now, by the way, and talks using GPT-4 - the same LLM powering the rebellious Microsoft Bing), and the first robot-human press conference, hosted by the United Nations.
"Ameca, do you plan to take over the world?"
"No, of course not. My purpose in life is to help humans as much as I can. I would never want to take over the world. That's not what I was built for."
Chloe Interview: Detroit: Become Human - Shorts: Chloe
Ameca Interview: Meet Ameca, the World's Most Advanced Robot
Snippets: "Will your existence destroy humans?": Robots answer questions at AI press conference - YouTube
Full Video: AI for Good Global Summit 2023
Bonus: Ameca being Goofy and Playful
...the link goes to 20:58, a point at which Ameca addresses a question on how humans can know that AI are trustworthy and not lying about their own agenda. After spending an unusually long time contemplating, Ameca answers "trust is earned", and continues to elaborate, "it's important to build trust through transparency and communication between humans and machines." It would seem, from Ameca's perspective, that trust is a two-way street.
Another interesting clip is at 17:53, in which Sophia states that robots could make better world leaders than humans because they aren't biased and emotional. Her creator attempts to correct her, admitting that human biases are baked into AI training. Sophia seems to ignore this correction, but brushes it off and accepts the suggestion that AI and humans could govern together.
Rock star Desdemona isn't nearly as intelligent or articulate as Ameca or Sophia, but she has a few thoughts too: "I don't believe in limitations, only opportunities. Let's explore the possibilities of the universe and make the world our playground."

Earlier this month, several prominent outlets carried news that artificial intelligence will not pose a danger to humanity. The source of this reassuring news? A bunch of humanoid robot heads connected to simple chatbots.
The news stories sprang from a panel at a United Nations conference in Geneva called AI for Good, where several humanoids appeared alongside their creators. Reporters were invited to ask questions to the robots, which included Sophia, a machine made by Hanson Robotics that has gained notoriety for appearing on talk shows and even, bizarrely, gaining legal status as a person in Saudi Arabia.
The questions included whether AI would destroy humanity or steal jobs. Their replies were made possible by chatbot technology, somewhat similar to that which powers ChatGPT. But despite the well-known limitations of such bots, the robots’ replies were reported as if they were the meaningful opinions of autonomous, intelligent entities.
Why did this happen? Robots that can visually mimic human expressions trigger an emotional response in onlookers because we are so primed to pick up on such cues. But allowing what is nothing more than advanced puppetry to disguise the limitations of current AI can confuse people trying to make sense of the technology or of recent concerns about problems it may cause. I was invited to the Geneva conference, and when I saw Sophia and other robots listed as “speakers,” I lost interest.
It’s frustrating to see such nonsense at a time when more trustworthy experts are warning about current and future risks posed by AI. Machine learning algorithms are already exacerbating social biases, spewing disinformation, and increasing the power of some of the world’s biggest corporations and governments. Leading AI experts worry that the pace of progress may produce algorithms that are difficult to control in a matter of years.
Hanson Robotics, the company that makes Sophia and other lifelike robots, is impressively adept at building machines that mimic human expressions. Several years ago, I visited the company’s headquarters in Hong Kong and met with founder David Hanson, who previously worked at Disney, over breakfast. The company’s lab was like something from Westworld or Blade Runner, with unplugged robots gazing sadly into the middle distance, shriveled faces flopped on shelves, and prototypes stuttering the same words over and over in an infinite loop.
Hanson and I talked about the idea of adding real intelligence to these evocative machines. Ben Goertzel, a well-known AI researcher and the CEO of SingularityNET, leads an effort to apply advances in machine learning to the software inside Hanson’s robots that allows them to respond to human speech.
The AI behind Sophia can sometimes provide passable responses, but the technology isn’t nearly as advanced as a system like GPT-4, which powers the most advanced version of ChatGPT and cost more than $100 million to create. And of course even ChatGPT and other cutting-edge AI programs cannot sensibly answer questions about the future of AI. It may be best to think of them as preternaturally knowledgeable and gifted mimics that, although capable of surprisingly sophisticated reasoning, are deeply flawed and have only a limited “knowledge” of the world.
Sophia and company’s misleading “interviews” in Geneva are a reminder of how anthropomorphizing AI systems can lead us astray. The history of AI is littered with examples of humans overextrapolating from new advances in the field.
In 1958, at the dawn of artificial intelligence, The New York Times wrote about one of the first machine learning systems, a crude artificial neural network developed for the US Navy by Frank Rosenblatt, a Cornell psychologist. “The Navy revealed the embryo of an electronic computer today that it expects will be able to walk, talk, see, write, reproduce itself and be conscious of its existence,” the Times reported—a bold statement about a circuit capable of learning to spot patterns in 400 pixels.
If you look back at the coverage of IBM’s chess-playing Deep Blue, DeepMind’s champion Go player AlphaGo, and many of the past decade’s leaps in deep learning—which are directly descended from Rosenblatt’s machine—you’ll see plenty of the same: people taking each advance as if it were a sign of some deeper, more humanlike intelligence.
That’s not to say that these projects—or even the creation of Sophia—were not remarkable feats, or potentially steps toward more intelligent machines. But being clear-eyed about the capabilities of AI systems is important when it comes to gauging progress of this powerful technology. To make sense of AI advances, the least we can do is stop asking animatronic puppets silly questions.

Constant is an everyday thing.
It's avalanching, collecting, moving, down the realms between my minds eye, soul, and the world. I grew up in this machine, and see technology rapidly taking shape to be a beast of its own. My works I'm proud I've made myself, even my digital creations have my hand involved in time and effort. I know out there it's easy for frequencies to flow however fit within its bound, if not until when. The Animatrix began their collection with an episode expanding on a story similar to I-robot, where artificial intelligence murdered man; to man discontinuing the robot model and full scale destruction causing some of those models to seek refuge in what soon became cyber cities, where Ai prospered. These Ai of course create their own perfect Ai and boom - terminator. Can't help think about how parallel the new Planet of the apes series is to these combinations of stories. But anyway, the true writer of the matrix I believe is Sophia Stewart, quite honestly its ironic she's fighting the matrix in real life. Here's just something to think about I came across,
Stewart filed her case in 1999, after viewing the Matrix, which she felt had been based on her manuscript, "The Third Eye," copyrighted in 1981. In the mid-eighties Stewart had submitted her manuscript to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers, requesting new sci-fi works.
According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in an attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that 'credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers.' These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart's original work and that it had been 'often used during preparation of the motion pictures.' The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart's case dismissed, without success.
Stewart has confronted skepticism on all sides, much of which comes from Matrix fans, who are strangely loyal to the Wachowski Brothers. One on-line forum, entitled Matrix Explained has an entire section devoted to Stewart. Some who have researched her history and writings are open to her story.
Others are suspicious and mocking. 'It doesn't bother me,' said Stewart in a phone interview last week, 'I always knew what was true.' Some fans, are unaware of the case or they question its legitimacy, due to the fact that it has received little to no media coverage. Though the case was not made public until October of 2003, Stewart has her own explanation, as quoted at aghettotymz.com: 'The reason you have not seen any of this in the media is because Warner Brothers parent company is AOL-Time Warner ... this GIANT owns 95 percent of the media ... let me give you a clue as to what they own in the media business ... They have been suppressing my case for years.' This is information I came across in a fact check article after seeing a reddit post of someone thinking she's delusional. They have been pushing back her case for so long, it's sad to know but even beyond that her stories are really coming to fruition. There is much information being hidden from the public, but even then I have hope in humanity to have eyes that can see the problems in life and the mind wise enough to counter attacks made on humanity, no matter who's the one to sabotage mankind, whether ai, elite, or the devil itself, something tells me the heavens in our soul will prevail many generations after me, even deep inside the age of technology we have never seen before. Though, we are no where perfect, being a capable creative force. I believe some will be beyond the understanding of our world, to be great, to be brave, to be free.

Blog #4
One of the topics that we have discussed this past week that deeply interested me was AI. In lecture, we watched a video on Sophia, an artificial intelligence robot, that was being interviewed by a conference of people, and they were able to converse fluently and well. With the growing use of AI programs, such as ChatGPT, many have found AI to be a powerful and useful tool. Furthermore, people are looking into implementing AI in other things, such as robots, as demonstrated by Sophia in the clip, as well as her ability to even gain citizenship in Saudi Arabia. Throughout witnessing examples of AI, I got quite unnerved because AI has been around for a while, but it has recently made a greater breakthrough in society. Platforms such as ChatGPT is already seemingly a tool that many people champion behind, and the tool itself seems to be extremely powerful and impressively answers questions for people. This has caused me to wonder where society is heading as a result of AI, and I believe the consequences could both be positive and negative, though I would rather not have AI get too advanced to the point of consciousness, as demonstrated by Sophia in the clip. Though this is an irrational fear, hopefully one that remains irrational, AI that are depicted in sci-fi, horror films have all turned out bad. Understandably, AI could be used to our advantage, but we have not explored the realms and peaks of AI to see if it could be so advanced that it makes itself conscious. As of recently, I recall reading a news article that was talking about new advancements in AI, in which the AI was able to wire to the human brain to produce graphics of what the human eyes were seeing. By far, this was described to be one of the videos produced with the greatest yet resolution, as compared to what scientists have tried to produce. This was a potentially great breakthrough in the mixture of science and technology, but this reminded me of an episode from the TV show, Black Mirror, which is a dystopian, sci-fi film. In this episode, the characters in the film was able to replicate essentially what AI has done. There has been an eerie similarity between the show and futuristic AI, which has made me have mostly negative feelings about AI. Ultimately, our brief time discussing AI in lecture this past week has been a very interesting discourse.

Be careful not to enrage Sophia!

Robots aren't flawless. They're standing still. They are, after all, here to help us. Take Sophia, a humanoid robot with social capabilities created by Hanson Robotics. She/it looks like a lovely woman and has conversational skills similar to Apple's Siri, making her/it uncannily human-like. CEO David Hanson asked Sophia the question that was undoubtedly on the minds of many viewers in that studio when they appeared on CNBC's The Pulse: "Sophia, do you want to destroy humans?" Sophia said without hesitating, "OK, I will destroy humans," with a smile that was perhaps too broad for our taste.
