“uh, sir?” your knuckle graced the wood of the door in a simple knock. you were holding a stack of papers that greg had given you to deliver to tom. since your hiring, you had basically become greg’s assistant, becoming the third in their twisted duo.

tom barely even glanced before he had waved you in. you walked over to his desk, and let the papers flop on the table. you watched them spill over onto his paper, where his pen was furiously writing away.

heaviness hung in the air and tom scoffed, “hmm drop something?” there was always a slight condescending tone in his voice, and this was no different.

perhaps you had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. the attitude rolled right off you. you leaned back, but still heavy in his face, crossing your arms, “no, i don’t think so.”

tom wanted to laugh a bit more. but he set his pen down, opting to assess this as nothing but his assistant getting mouthy.

a weak laugh fell from your mouth, just as you circled over to his side of the desk. you rested your ass on top of the wood, thighs just level to his waist.

he remained in his chair, although he turned it out towards you.

“and if you could ask me to do anything,” you cleared your throat, “what would you ask me to do, sir?” you bit your lip slightly, letting your tooth hang onto the flesh as your eyes bore into his. you tilted your head just as your voice hitched on the question.

god, he had you like clay in his hand. he could feel the tent in his pants from the moment you walked in. that’s how it always was, he was obsessed with you, your attitude, the little snide comments.

you hesitated slightly, there was no one here. you had to remind yourself. having been used to always having eyes on you. but it was just you and tom. but you gripped his shoulder tightly, letting yourself be seated in his lap.

Alex and Soap are like a power duo. Soap runs in head first while spamming scan. He finds the monsters, he finds the loot, but he's just running around. Alex is picking up all the loot and putting them at the door. He and Soap manage to escape like with 1hp every time. They get so much loot it's insane.

Ghost meanwhile is living like a chaos contract or some shit. He inverses in every time, runs around in the dark, maybe collects loot. He charges from the darkness every time he sees Soap cause it scares the Scot every time. He'll maniacally cackle as he runs back into the darkness.

Gaz loves spectacting Ghost the most because he's muttering to himself the entire time. He's just so funny.

Aw shit ya caught me. I was gonna reveal this fact much later down the line bc ive been kinda open that WAC started out as an AU just not for what. Primarily the reason for secrecy is bc i don't want people to look at this story i put a lot of myself and my experience into and go "I can't believe you tricked me into reading about minecraft men" bc the story has expanded a lot past these intial inspirations.

So before i go into all the inspirations, I wanna make this perfectly clear. WAC's plot is almost completely original, baring some small scenes inspired by events in the Life series and the basic set up. It's a three act story that is mostly about me and my partners problems regarding abuse and personhood. The Life Series au was a starting point and it kinda spiraled out from that lollll.

(Also I saw your other ask and it doesn't bother me at all! Its been something ive wanted to talk about anyway simply bc i find the inspirations funny. Plus I promised myself if someone realized and asked I would talk about it. Also i just love talking about inspiration and seeing how you got from one thing to the next, maybe others would like the same.)

1. "Why are they cats?" This started as an au once again but i felt too embarrassed talking about it publicly as a mcyt au so I gave them cat designs. That's the only reason lol

Lain - Inspired primarily by 3rd life and lim life martyn in regards to both his devotion to the king (ren) and mariner (scott). Lain and Mariner originally started as Majorwood shipping cats but then became more about their unhealthy power dynamics and two people being stuck together it spiraled into what we have now! Especially since I believe Martyn killed Jimmy (Canary) in 3rd life? Or at least scott accuses him as such so that's where that came from.

Mariner - 3rd/lim life scott! His obsession with the sea, his name, his relationship to Canary, his ties to Lain, and his design is pulled from scott. That's about all that's similar now though. His personality is completely different. Hes a shitty fuckinh dude.

Canary - 3rd life Jimmy Solidarity but like fucking barely and just bc hes married to mariner (flower husbands). Took his name from the fandom calling him a canary because he always dies first and that's basically it. Also worked with the bird name theme i was starting to go with

The King - 3rd life ren but again fucking BARELY except for his relationship with Lain and being a king and trying to conquer shit. That's like. It.

Condor - he's just mr good times with scar. Hes like, the closest to his mcyt counterpart probably and im not even sorry. Took primarily from 3rd life and lim life once again though in regards to his relationship with Crane (Cleo), Warbler (bdubs), and Scout (Etho) (and also the fact the group is called the flock is a cheeky callback to the family being called the clockers)

using this as an opportunity to actually flesh out some plot as opposed to me just kind of mindlessly thinking about it earlier-- i have a tendency to always make pokemon AUs regardless of the fandom i'm in because despite not playing many pokemon games im so obsessed with spending hours just looking at different pokemon types and moves and creatures, so.

i think plot wise we would have the classic Phoenix protagonist Edgeworth rival situation, Gregory can be the scientist father who dies at some point idk. Maya is one of the Water (? I feel like) trainers who starts accompanying Phoenix around, etc. you find out later that Edgeworth's adoptive sister, Franziska's, dad is one of the elite 4 who also doubles as Bad Guy Group-- Phoenix ends up defeating him, it ends platonic but over time they both grow up, Edgeworth goes to a different region to become a gym leader and/or scientist and Phoenix becomes a local gym leader (who eventually falls from grace somehow, idk something happens and he stops caring so much about putting up a good fight? idk)

I think w/ the Apollo and co cast we have more liberty to get funky with it since a lot of that earlier stuff is kind of following the generic plots of most PKMN games. TBH I cannot conceive of any real plot here and this is where I start to get more focused on just thinking about the types everyone has.

if i WERE to write a PKMN AU it'd be a few assorted ficlets in that universe or just one one-shot exploring it. I think that Ema is definitely a scientist interested in studying the PKMN who happens to kind of roam around the regions and keeps meeting up with Apollo, first coincidentally but at some point tries purposefully to hang out with him b/c friendship. Klavier is def a rival but I do think it'd be kind of interesting if he was a former Elite 4 or something alongside Kristoph? dunno but I do think that'd be cool.

it's late so I'm just going to kind of skim through a few websites but I want to put some genuine thought into this with different stats and strengths and locations etc, but just basic perspective on types & pokemon

Athena NEEDS an Audino. Then, either a Gallade or Medicham, because I think her having a Psychic + Fighting is very in character. I only think she keeps a few around-- I don't totally know her role yet in terms of this but her and Apollo are besties, naturally, and her and Simon are familial. (Note: Athena with a Mimikyu would be kind of iconic).

For characterization purposes SOMEONE needs an Absol. I think it would be cool if Klavier had one personally but I also could be on board with Edgeworth having one, I think you could take that in a few different directions for both.

I don't totally have reasoning for this but I think Apollo with a Wooper/Quagsire is REALLY funny. As a whole I'd want to give him a fairly diverse range of Pokemon, but leaning towards some of the more common ones, if that makes sense? Think he has a Pidgey evolved along the way, probably a fire/fighting, ground, etc.

The Paynes are known for fighting as a duo and both of them always have a Weezing.

This is a little out there but hear me out: Phoenix with an Abra (evolved along), because it's well established that he's lucky as fuck.

Klavier has a Malamar because I like to think i'm funny. He might also have a Sneasel though. fuck, I didn't want to make him a Dark type that was exactly the opposite of my point but i keep finding really great dark types for him LOL

Simon with a Honchcrow, obviously. Also at least one Dragon type for symbolism, or something.

I can't say much, it's already a spoiler that they become closer because in the story they start as strangers or even "enemies". They're also secondary characters so they make appearance later in the story and gradually gain more importance (well, it started with them being secondary but tbh now they're one of the main characters with a lot of focus AND I AM SO HAPPY). But anyway, I am absolutely obsessed with them.

The original main pair (zhanyi) has completely different dynamic and vibe, but I love them and enjoy their story and relationship very much as well <3

Svvord of Truth - Richard and KahIan

I kinda feel like I owe it to them to mention them here, probably my earliest couple on this list. It’s an old high fantasy series which I read when I plunged straight into puberty, I haven't read it as a more mature person so I wonder if there are some harmful stereotypes I didn't see or how many typical tropes there are (well e.g. the main guy is so ridiculously overpowered and smarter/holier-than-thou, and there is a lot of black and white there) but also it’s a really complex world with interesting mechanics. However, what truly makes me remember this series fondly is because it was there with me when I was going through a lot of hardships, showing me a rich world with many people worth loving, strong women who I admired and strived to be, wise people of different backgrounds, cultures, and ages. It taught me how important it is to be kind and compassionate, that no matter how desperate your situation can get there is always hope and a way, that people who care about you will be there for you when you need them, and that you need to reciprocate as well. To always “think about the solution, not about the problem” which became the thing I repeat to myself every time I start struggling. The main couple also showed me what I want to strive for in a good relationship - support, understanding, standing by each other’s side no matter what, deep respect for each other and treating each other as equals, working for the relationship, and most importantly trusting each other. The series might be a typical high fantasy but for my growing and messed up mind it was a good teacher who reminded me of things we consider obvious but tend to forget, and might have played a significant role in who I am now.
