Homer and Hesiod apparently interpreted the cyclops very differently. To Hesiod, they were the children of gods, smart and gifted blacksmiths. To Homer, they were solitary, vicious monsters. Regardless of interpretation, some have proposed that the myth of the cyclops was sparked by the discovery of the remains of Elephas falconeri, a species of elephant native to Sicily. In the corpses of the dead, in the puzzle we'd yet to understand, we saw ourselves. Rather, we saw someone else, close enough to be our brothers. In the modern day, the puzzle of space becomes our blank canvas, with the imagining of thousands of species we've never met. Interestingly, even despite knowing the obvious, that aliens would be drastically different from ourselves, we continue to imagine them as fundamentally human-adjacent. Maybe this is just a natural human urge, a species-wide narcissism or a lackluster imagination. But human is itself an interesting term, right? We think we know what humans are: us, Homo sapiens, the people we see and talk to every day. The term, in some circles, however, also applies to the many many similar species that we used to share the Earth with. Not only did we exist simultaneously, we met some, but now they're gone. Paints a dire picture of ourselves, maybe, that all the other humans died out before us. One such species, Homo neanderthalensis, was our geographic neighbor, one we met leaving Africa. Its not clear how they met their end, only that they're not here now, and haven't been for a very long time. As an aside, this isn't entirely accurate either. Gene sequencing reveals that their genes are present in countless modern humans, possibly causing behaviors like depression. Like the cyclops, there are multiple interpretations of the place neanderthals occupied, but we do have some predictions of how they would have behaved: solitary, probably as smart as us or smarter, stocky, with a brain developed for tools more than our own. Is the point here clear? I don't to put forth any sort of scientific theory, or make any broad claims about the world or ourselves, but I do think its a fun coincidence, that we've spent lifetimes seeing the shadows for something quite like us, searching for our cosmic companions, only to find that they live on in our own veins, that we have always been the companions or enemies we imagined.

"my duty is to the mask of shadows" from Teridax in MoL was an incredibly ominous and intriguing line that unfortunately went absolutely nowhere, which is kind of a shame, because I think the concept of the Kraahkan being a conscious entity that is separate from Teridax and has a corruptive or tempting presence is an interesting idea, and imo it would have made the brotherhood's eventual turn make a little more sense

Also I love how half of the Bad Kids are All-Powerful, Semi-Immortal teenage girls and the other half are Just Some Guy™. Truly the dynamic of all time.
But I also love how these ridiculously ultra powerful girls (AKA the Immortal All-Seeing Elven Oracle, Saint Applebees Creator and Destroyer of Deities and the Spirit of Rebellion, Arch-Devil of Hell, Wizard's Paramore, Fig Faeth) do not give a single flying fuck about their magical responsibilities and duties.
You want the Elven Oracle to actually live with the Elves and foretell the future? Bitch, she doesn't have time for that, she has straight A's, anxiety and she's going to be late for her part-time job if you don't leave her alone with this oracle stuff.
You want Saint Applebees, Creator and Cleric of Cassandra to... pray? Grow her religion? Talk to her God? Mmmmmm.... No. Sorry, but she's a teenaged lesbian with ADHD and trauma. She doesn't have time for, I don't know, that, she's got her own thing going on. Like her breakup, and working out, oh, and did you hear about her campaign for class president??
And you know that the Spirit of Rebellion won't be found living in or, really, doing anything remotely close to ruling over, her domain. She's not even going to pretend to be interested in her duties as Arch-Devil, just like she wouldn't be caught dead actually showing up to class. The only duties Fig actually takes seriously is that of a ✨Wizard's Paramore✨

Something about how Heart is being compared to mythology, Minds referencing the bible & Soul being the one to use both of those things

Its pretty easy to tell if Heart or Mind are gaving s nightmare.
For Heart, he usually starts mumbling or muttering in his sleep, stratching as his chest or arms. He also looks extremely upset, usually.
For Mind, his breathing gets exponentially faster, and usually he starts shaking. He usually starts to grab at whatever’s closest to him.
Somehow, they both can just… recognize when each other is having a nightmare. They just know, even when the signs aren’t obvious. Especially when the nightmare is more like a flashback than anything else. They usually wake the other up and wait until they’ve both calmed down before going back to sleep.
oh yeah and then soul is just there LMAO- he does have a similar nightmare-radar instinct to heart and mind though.

If the Specter is as I believe him to be, that is to say, Carlo's true self before he died, then look how much taller he was and how much longer his hair was. The Infantilization theory ( ❀ & ❀ ) just stands so true for me.
Special thank you to @/flidgetjerome for bringing it up, because it just all seems to point in that very direction, and it makes everything so much more darker
