Not the other anon, but the reason it was just adequate. What is the distinction between professional, adequate and poor. Would you mind explaining it in gifs ?

I am like 97% sure I go into the distinctions between those categories in the chemistry master list already.

But Nora and Mary Louise are fine because they do their jobs and they aren't awkward but there's nothing particularly palpable about them, there's nothing particularly natural about them.

Soso and Poussey, for instance, had an ease to them where they would smile and meld into each other and and they look and feel comfortable around each other and there isn't a sense of inherent distance between them

Vignette and Tourmaline had a palpable charge where you feel their tension

I didn't watch All American after, like, four episodes but Patience and Coop was the only thing that stuck out to me when I was watching it because they vibe, it's not the quick hand touch it's the way Coop looks at her after she does it

it's the way Patience has this knowingness with Coop

Saya and Maria were supposed to be friends and it's like yeah that's there in their friendship moments

but there would be this undercurrent in their scenes, in a gaze

this kind of palpable swirly flirtatiousness

where it would be like so I just think you two should just be in love

Nora and Mary Louise are vaguely impersonal. Like Mary Louise should be BEAMING here

she should be looking at her the way Soso looks at Poussey where her entire face lights the fuck up because Nora is being sweet

but it's not terrible, it's just not palpable like something like this.

Like this is fine, I can see that they're doing their best and I'll go with it

but having an energy?

Like chaste kisses are all well and good but they're like Steroline, you can do a chaste kiss where it doesn't feel like you're actually holding something back and where it's like you're actually feeling or savouring the other person

Bonnie and Nora have more an energy
