In the Wikipedia article about Patroclus is a part called "Relationship with Achilles" and I think it is really funny
So the first paragraph sounds pretty normal:
Tumblr media
(Erastes: "lover", the older sexual actor, seen as the active or dominant participant; Eromenos: "beloved", the passive or subordinate sexual participant)
(Besides Aeschylus and Phaedrus arguing over who is bottom and who is top)
The article goes on with multiple other ancient greek authors explaining their theories, such as
Tumblr media
which might seem like a sort of simbolism, and continues as such, analysing and comparing paralles.
Tumblr media
But as you can see, in the end all that was just to proof Patroclus is the bottom.
It starts getting weirder.
For example:
Tumblr media
Aka "it already is canon, nobody could be that dumb"
Even Alexander the Great ships it! Did you know that
Tumblr media
That dude really read that story and went "damn, having a boyfriend sounds good, i imagine what it is like" and got himself a "life-long companion"
Finally, Shakespeare shares his own impression of this relationship:
Tumblr media
Yeah.
No.
I love Wikipedia.

Fun philosophy fact of the day
Parmenides was against the philosophy of Atomism, stating, "You say there聽is聽a void; therefore the void is not nothing; therefore there is not the void."
In response, Democritus, one of the founders of Atomism, referred to the stuff that floated in the void and made the universe as Parmenidean Entities鈩笍

I just read a real life Binks' Sake moment in the French Revolution.
The Martyrs of Compi猫gne were 16 nuns. Now during the Reign of Terror period they sort of outlawed being a nun, so these nun had to nun in secret. They were forced to leave their convent so they lived together in 2 apartments in a nearby village. They wore regular clothes and prayed together in secret. Like a secret nun club.
They were arrested for crimes against the Revolution when they were discovered. At that time people accused of crimes against the Revolution were not allowed a defense attorney. "The guilty have no such right and the innocents do not need any."
So they were convicted and sentenced to the guillotine. The first to be executed, Sister Constance, started singing Psalm 116 and the rest of the sisters joined.
The crowd watched in silence as 16 women were one by one executed. Each one singing untill the guillotine came down. Untill a choir became a soloist, until a soloist became a silent square of people filled with blood.
Just like Brook, Mother Teresa kept singing untill she was the last.
Cue sad Binks' Sake.

I was having a bad day, and then this lore fell into my lap. My soul is healed, my spirit refreshed, the morphogenetic field flows through me once again.

Snake Island
Tumblr media
Snake Island, or its actual name, Ilha da Queimada Grande, is an island located off the coast of Brazil. The island gained its nickname from the enormous amount of snakes rumoured to be living there; about one snake per square meter (10.8 square feet). The place is much too dangerous to live for humans, as fishermen usually get attacked as soon as they set foot on the island (in modern times, lighthouse operators died, forcing the authorities to automate the lighthouse).
There is also a lot of diversity in the kinds of snakes you can find there, including the highly endangered gloden lancehead pit viper.
Fun fact: Queimada is Portugese for forest fire.

Transgender Flag
Tumblr media
The most prominent[4]聽transgender flag design is the "Transgender Pride Flag", used as a symbol of transgender pride and diversity, and transgender rights. The flag was created[1]聽by American trans woman聽Monica Helms聽in 1999,[5][6]聽and was first shown at a pride parade in聽Phoenix, Arizona, in 2000.[7]聽Helms describes the meaning of the transgender pride flag as follows:
The stripes at the top and bottom are light blue, the traditional masculine color. The stripes next to them are pink, the traditional feminine color. The stripe in the middle is white, for those who are transitioning or consider themselves having a neutral or undefined gender.

Also probably worth mentioning, Michelangelo very much also had to worry about bills and staying housed. We have David because he was COMMISSIONED TO MAKE HIM!!!! Same with the Sistine Chapel! Yes, Michelangelo was a very talented and gifted artist, but it's absolute horse shit to think he didn't care about money or food.
In fact, he literally only got started in stone bc his mother died, and he had to move in with his nanny and her husband.
Tumblr media
So like, maybe look to artists currently trying to make a living selling commissions for your next Great Master?
