Jamie in season one: You know who I think is the ugliest guy on the team? That Roy Kent! You know what I would give him on a scale of 1 to 10? 1 would be the ugliest and 10 pretty... I would give him an 8... 8.5... or a 9... Not, not over a 9.8 cause there is always room for improvement. Not everyone is perfect, like me. That's why I'm holding out for a 10. Because I'm worth it!

Incorrect Quotes- DC Comics Edition #18
Jason: I'm really nice now and I just feel awful about what happened, but I mean, could you argue that this was my fault? Dick: Yes, all- Roy: Absolutely, you're an asshole all the time. Kory: Yes, yes. Dick: Absolutely, you're an asshole all the time. Jason: Yeah, that would be a safe argument. Uh, but let me ask you one question- do you think... I'm happy about this? Dick: Oh my God, Jason. Just because you're upset doesn't mean you're off the hook. Roy: Yeah, and further more, do you want to kick your own ass or should we do it for you? Dick: Yeah. Jason: Oh, uh, well I guess if you're giving me the option, I'll...I'll kick my own ass.

Lol just saw someone say Darren’s concert was a hard pass because of the likelihood of having to sit through AVPM songs when shouldn’t be revisiting it in 2023, more tickets for the rest of us

Sometimes I want to post/rb something about the AVPM trilogy but then I don't because I think I might get harassed by people outside the fandom because of the source material :/

I miss being in academia because I want to write an essay exploring AVPM with JKRs terf decent and also just how its held up over the years. Like I think it is a fantastic parody because it is clearly in love with the source and yet is willing to invert everything the source thinks is good/cool. Add in the Draco and Ginny gender stuff and I think we have at least 5 pages ready for grading.

I think the people who say "I don't like Star Wars" as their excuse assume they will understand nothing, no jokes or plot or characters or anything, so they don't even bother watching...even though StarKid's previous parodies poked fun at the source material while ALSO just having great solid jokes and writing. OR they don't examine why they don't like Star Wars to make their own judgment about if they might like a parody. Do they not like sci-fi? (Then why do they like Starship?) Do they think Star Wars is for kids? (Then why do they like Twisted or AVPM?) Do they think the movies are cheesy? (Have they seen the 1960s Batman TV show, and if so, why do they like HMB?) Their excuses just don't add up.
I made a post on here once asking if non-Star Wars fans still enjoyed what Ani had to offer despite not getting jokes, and the few responses boiled down to them understanding they were missing some references (which are obscure ON PURPOSE because they're making fun of the fandom and being very meta) but still having a good time. This helped me understand what I, a Star Wars fan, might take for granted. And yet, these responses were so far from the general consensus, it made me feel like I was still missing something. Like, what are they seeing or assuming that I'm not picking up on that makes them dislike Ani so much?
The people who complain about the actors not singing...I think need to expand their horizons. I looked up a definition of "musical theatre" just for this, and the only stipulations for a piece of theatre to be musical theatre are "songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance". The actors do not have to be the ones singing. But guess what checks all the marks anyway?? Do these people only exclusively watch musical theatre and Disney movies? So anything else is an absolute no for them?
A side note: Ani is also not really a parody in a traditional sense. Parodies like AVPM or Twisted (or Wicked, for that matter) or Solve-It Squad or even Stranger Sings (a Stranger Things parody Jaime Lyn was in) take characters, story beats, tropes, etc. and mash them together or twist them in some way (like Solve-It Squad is Scooby Doo but not really...the source characters are just basic archetypes from a simple 1960s cartoon) to tell the same story from a different angle or abbreviated, all while poking fun at the source material or even the fanbase if it gets a little meta. Ani...doesn't do that really. It's Star Wars characters in the world of Star Wars breaking the fourth wall cause they know they're "in Star Wars", but none of the plot has ever actually happened. Nick describes it as a parody of sports movies like Rocky, and it follows THOSE types of story beats...but using Star Wars characters and the setting. It feels like the characters are the ones putting on a parody show, and they don't sing because the music in Rocky is just background music (hence the band singing 80's rock-style tunes on stage). It feels more like how Animaniacs does parody: the Animaniacs characters are portraying the roles and playing out the story beats in a silly way to poke fun at the source material. And I think people just don't...get it.
My long-winded point: you're allowed to not like something, and your reasons are your own. But don't be a hater just to be a hater or because someone told you to or because you don't even want to try. I don't like horror, but I live and breath for Hatchetfield! What's the difference here? Ani is a great show if you just give it a chance! I promise the jokes are NOT too reliant on prior knowledge!
tbh I get kind of annoyed when people say they didn't like Ani (or haven't even given it a chance) because they never saw or disliked star wars, because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't care for Batman outside of HMB, or for the Oregon Trail game, or (most of us) who have come to despise Harry Potter, but all of those musicals have still gotten so much love. don't get me wrong, it's okay if Ani isn't your thing, but to just say 'yeah I'm not interested in Star Wars' feels a bit weird to me. because really the only criticism I ever see about the show is that people didn't get the jokes because they didn't know Star Wars (and I can go on a whole different rant about that because the STAR WARS-star wars jokes are like 5-10% of the comedy), or that it felt weird to not have the actors singing on stage. I have never seen people criticise the story or characters or anything, so to ignore the whole 2 hour parody show because you aren't interested in the source material feels kind of superficial
also this isn't an invitation to bash Ani in the notes. you can have your reasons to dislike it but if you feel the need to share them you can make your own post.
