The weather outside is frightful
written for @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt: snow | rated: t | wc: 571 | tags: fluff, childhood memories Steve hates the snow, while Eddie loves it. I skipped the last 2 days because I was way behind on my Christmas making, but I am now done, so hopefully I will have more time to work on the rest of the month.
Steve had always hated the snow. It was cold, uncomfortable, and always found a way inside any outer layers to melt against the skin. Something that never helped was his parents' conflicting attitude about the snow. At home, he was never allowed to play in the snow, in case he tracked it through the house. If he'd been out in the snow, for school or anything, he would have to kick all the snow off his boots, then go into the garage to take off his boots and any outer layers that may have had snow on them before he could enter the house. And the garage was always freezing, somehow feeling colder than outside. But then whenever they were vacationing at the exclusive ski club that cost far too much for the initial sign up, and then thousands each year, he was expected to spend all of his time out in the snow. He would find himself grounded once back home if his parents decided that he hadn't spent enough time skiing, no matter how much he hated the cold. He hated being forced to spend days freezing outside just going down the same hills over and over again, when he would have much preferred to spend his time using any of the other facilities that were on offer, the gym, the pool, the spa and hot tub. Even just spending the entire time holed up in his room with a roaring fire and a big mug of hot chocolate.
Eddie, on the other hand, loved the snow. It was some of the best memories he had of both his parents. After a heavy snowfall, the three of them bundling up as warm as possible and going out to spend time together. Snowball fights, building snowmen, his parents taking turns to ride down the nearest hill with him on a makeshift sled. So much of his life with his parents was filled with tension, over money, over health, over drugs. But the snow was something that melted the tension away, allowing the three of them to be carefree. A day in the cold followed by coming home to make hot chocolate. And his love of the snow continued even after moving into the trailer with Wayne. Sure, it felt much colder due to there not being much insulation, and the heater being temperamental. But it was drinking hot chocolate and coffee with Wayne. It was snowball fights and building bonfires with the other trailer park kids. It was getting to watch assholes skidding on the ice and falling flat on their asses.
It was their first winter together that they realized how different they were. It took nearly a week of Steve being incredibly grumpy and hating every time he had to leave the house to go to work, and Eddie trying to get Steve out enjoying the snow with him, before they finally talked about the snow, and what it had meant to them. Eddie getting a better understanding of why Steve hated the snow, of it going beyond his dislike of the cold. Steve getting a better understanding of why Eddie loved it so much, and how much those memories meant to him.
"I won't join you out in the snow, but I could start making hot chocolate for you when you come in out of the cold?" Steve offered.
"That sounds amazing." Eddie replied, kissing Steve softly.

Ghouls at the spa 🛁
Papa takes the ghouls to a spa/beauty-salon-whatever with the ministry credit card (old man needs a hot tub and a massage alright?) Who’s getting what?
Rain: bbg gets eyelash extensions, change my mind.
Dew: pretends not to be into it, but gets his nails buffed and painted black with Rory, then goes and sits with Copia in the hot tub (he’s like an immersion heater, it’s almost uncomfortably warm in there and Copia loves it).
Aurora: obviously gets a manicure, but she’s also a huge fan of elaborate facials/masks with exotic ingredients.
Mountain: full body mud mask. He barely fits in the tub even fully glamoured, but makes it work!
Cumulus: She gets back pain, so loves a massage. If you see her fall asleep almost instantly no you didn’t…
Cirrus: is big into aromatherapy. She’s secretly been quite stressed feeling the pressure of wrangling her packmates alone after Aether left, and loves these calm moments to herself to de-stress and relax.
Swiss: after his on-stage antics this mf needs a sports massage, stat. And a pedicure because Phantom has a thing for feet…
Phantom: They’ve heard of this thing called a vampire facial…
As always, thoughts/opinions/your hcs are appreciated <3

How Hot Are Hot Tubs
Hot tubs, with their warm, bubbling waters, are synonymous with relaxation and rejuvenation. But have you ever wondered just how hot hot tubs can get? In this article, we'll take a deep dive into the temperature ranges of hot tubs, exploring the factors that influence their heat levels and why finding the right temperature is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable soak.
The Standard Temperature Range
The standard temperature range for most hot tubs typically falls between 100°F to 104°F (37°C to 40°C). This range has been carefully chosen to provide a balance between comfort and safety. At this temperature, hot tub water is warm enough to relax your muscles and promote blood circulation without posing the risk of overheating or discomfort.
Tumblr media
Personal Preferences
While the standard range is recommended for most users, personal preferences vary. Some people prefer slightly cooler temperatures, around 98°F (37°C), while others enjoy the therapeutic benefits of hotter water, up to 104°F (40°C). It's important to remember that what feels hot to one person may be lukewarm to another, so finding your ideal temperature is key to a satisfying hot tub experience.
Health Considerations
Your health plays a significant role in determining the appropriate hot tub temperature for you. If you have certain medical conditions or are taking medications that affect your body's ability to regulate temperature, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before using a hot tub. For individuals with medical concerns, lower temperatures around 98°F (37°C) are often recommended to avoid overheating.
Safety First
Safety should always be a top priority when using a hot tub. Extremely high temperatures, above 104°F (40°C), can lead to overheating, dehydration, and heat-related illnesses. Prolonged exposure to excessively hot water can be harmful, so it's essential to adhere to recommended temperature guidelines and avoid raising the temperature to dangerous levels.
Heating and Insulation
Hot tubs are equipped with heating systems that maintain the water temperature within your desired range. The efficiency of these systems can vary between models. Well-insulated hot tubs with energy-efficient heaters will help maintain your chosen temperature, even in cold weather, while reducing operating costs.
Adjusting the Temperature
Most hot tubs allow users to adjust the water temperature to their liking. You can typically do this using a control panel located near the hot tub or through a mobile app for smart hot tubs. Remember to make gradual temperature adjustments, giving the water time to reach your desired level. Sudden temperature changes can be uncomfortable.
youtube
Hydration and Timing
No matter the temperature you choose, it's crucial to stay hydrated while using a hot tub. Soaking in warm water can cause dehydration, so have a glass of water nearby and avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate you further. Also, limit your hot tub sessions to around 15-30 minutes to prevent overheating.
Conclusion
Hot tubs offer a wonderful way to relax, unwind, and enjoy therapeutic benefits, but it's important to understand and control the water temperature to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. The standard temperature range of 100°F to 104°F (37°C to 40°C) serves as a guideline, but personal preferences, health considerations, and safety should always be taken into account. Finding the perfect temperature for your hot tub sessions can lead to a more relaxing and rejuvenating experience, making it a valuable addition to your wellness routine.

How to Choose a Good Bathtub or Shower for Your Home?
If you're undecided about which type of bathtub or shower to choose, there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, you'll want to think about how often you plan on using it. Do you prefer a bathtub or shower with a deep bathing area? Or would you rather have something more compact and fit in smaller spaces?
Tumblr media
Consider all these factors into account before making your purchase. Other factors include the size of the water heater, whether or not there is enough space under the sink for storage baskets and plumbing fittings, and whether there's room for fixtures such as rain faucets and towel bars.
Understand the different types of baths and showers
Several different baths and showers are available today, each with unique benefits. Here is a quick overview of the three most common bath types:
- Hot Tub Baths - A hot tub bath is perfect for people who want to relax after a long day. The heated water and jets provide soothing relief from aches and tensions, while the spa-like atmosphere offers an idyllic oasis to relax.
- Shower Spa Baths - These types of baths combine features from both shower heads and spas into one unit. They offer all the benefits of a traditional shower head, such as relaxing rainfall or pulsating jets. They also include added features like aromatherapy massage systems or heating pads that can be used during your soak.
- Full Body Showers - Full body showers are the perfect solution for those who want nothing less than total cleansing and relaxation. This type offers deep soaking combined with powerful massaging jets that thoroughly clean every inch of your skin.
Size and shape of a bathtub or shower
When choosing the perfect size of bathtub or shower for your home, remember a few things.
First, ensure the space is sufficient - Most standard baths and showers measure approximately 60 inches wide by 80 inches long by 32 inches high.
Second, think about your needs - Do you want a traditional tub, or do you prefer an open shower with multiple spray options? Is extra storage space necessary for you?
Third, consider the price - Bathtubs can be expensive, but they come in many styles and sizes. Showers can cost less than $200 but may not have as many features or choices as more expensive models.
The materials used in a bathtub or shower
Some common materials used in baths and showers include rubberized vinyl, acrylics, granite tiles, cast iron grilles, and porcelain tile backsplashes. When it comes to choosing the materials used in a bathtub or shower, there are a few things that you'll need to consider.
- Vinyl tiles: These tiles are cheap, versatile, and easy to clean. They also have a neutral color palette that works well with most bathroom designs.
- Stone tile: This type of tile is natural and looks high-end. It's durable and highly resistant to water damage, so that it will last longer than other tiles. However, it may require more maintenance than vinyl or concrete tiles.
- Concrete tile: This is the most expensive option, but it's also the wisest choice if you want your bathroom to last for years. It's extreme and doesn't suffer from water damage like other types of tile do.
Installation of a bathtub or shower
If you own a home and have been planning to install a new bathtub or shower in your bathroom, then these tips will be of great use.
Our Installation expert at Serveantage can take your installation journey from ordinary to extraordinary! So if you want to get such an expert for your bathroom remodeling project, just call us today.

Why Do You Install Electric & Gas Heated Hybrid Hot Tub?
When it comes to considering the heating solution for your hot tub, the energy source can be a significant factor. While gas heaters are known to provide lower operating costs, they cannot function below freezing temperatures.
Traditionally, this issue has limited their use to warmer climates. With the Electric & Gas Heated Hybrid Hot Tub technology, hot tub owners can now enjoy the benefits of gas and electric heating. Installing this system can allow you to enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable experience year-round.
Tumblr media
Why Gas Heaters Alone Aren't Enough?
Gas hot tub heaters are known for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness in milder climates. However, their performance can decline when temperatures fall below freezing. The combustion process, which is crucial for generating heat, becomes less effective in extremely cold conditions. As a result, spa owners in colder regions may find it challenging to use their hot tubs during the winter months.
Why Do You Switch to Hybrid Technology?
The Electric & Gas Hybrid system is the effective solution to this problem. Combining the advantages of gas and electric heating, this technology allows spa owners to enjoy their hot tubs year-round, regardless of the weather.
Easy Integration: The Hybrid system connects your gas heater's supply and returns lines directly to the spa's auxiliary return and supply ports. This integration allows the spa pack to manage the heating process so that it can make adjustments automatically based on the temperature.
Smooth Transition - When the temperature remains above freezing, the gas heater will warm your spa efficiently. During the temperature goes below freezing, the system automatically switches to electric heat so that your spa remains warm and ready for use.
Year-Round Enjoyment - Using Hybrid Technology, you can indulge in the luxury of a hot tub bath throughout the year. Whether it's a scorching summer day or a chilly winter evening, this spa unit will provide enormous relaxation and comfort.
How Do You Get The Ultimate Spa Experience?
Taking a hot tub session in the winter offers a unique and deeply relaxing experience. The contrast between the crisp, cold air and the soothing warmth of the water offers you a truly invigorating sensation. Installing Electric & Gas Heated Hybrid Hot Tub allows you to enjoy this experience without the limitations of traditional gas heaters.
Conclusion
The Electric & Gas Hybrid spa heating offers a versatile, efficient, and reliable solution and allows spa owners to enjoy the benefits of gas and electric heating. Installing this innovative system enables spa enthusiasts to enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable experience year-round.
Whether you're looking to save on energy costs or simply want to indulge in the luxury of a gas-heated hot tub bath, shop for the Hybrid System from Northern Lights Polar Hot Tubs. For more information about our hybrid technology, please contact us today at 1-800-759-8990.

The Importance of Hot Tub Insulation: Maximizing Efficiency with Kiwi Spas
Tumblr media
What is Hot Tub Insulation?
Hot tub insulation refers to the material and methods used to trap heat within the tub, minimizing heat loss to the environment. The primary goal is to reduce the amount of energy required to maintain the water temperature, especially during colder weather. Poor insulation can result in significant heat loss, leading to higher energy bills and increased wear on your hot tub’s heating system.
High-quality insulation not only keeps your water warmer for longer but also ensures that your hot tub is energy-efficient, eco-friendly, and cost-effective. At Kiwi Spas, they specialize in providing hot tubs with superior insulation, helping customers reduce their energy consumption and enjoy a more sustainable spa experience.
Why is Hot Tub Insulation Important?
Energy Efficiency: One of the biggest benefits of effective hot tub insulation is its ability to enhance energy efficiency. A well-insulated hot tub requires less energy to heat the water, leading to lower electricity bills. In colder climates, where temperatures can drop significantly, insulation is especially important to avoid excessive heat loss.
Cost Savings: Hot tubs without proper insulation can be expensive to maintain. You’ll need to run the heater more often to keep the water warm, which increases your energy consumption. Over time, these additional costs can add up. Insulated hot tubs from Kiwi Spas are designed to minimize these costs by retaining heat effectively, making them more economical in the long run.
Increased Lifespan of Equipment: A poorly insulated hot tub puts more strain on the heater, pumps, and other components, as they must work harder to maintain the desired water temperature. This overuse can lead to premature wear and tear, reducing the lifespan of your equipment. Kiwi Spas’ expertly insulated hot tubs protect your investment, helping you avoid costly repairs and replacements.
Comfort and Convenience: With excellent insulation, you can enjoy a more consistent water temperature and reduce the waiting time for your hot tub to heat up. Kiwi Spas ensures that their hot tubs offer a seamless and comfortable experience, where you can simply relax without worrying about fluctuating temperatures or excessive energy use.
Kiwi Spas: A Leader in Hot Tub Insulation
Kiwi Spas is a trusted name in the hot tub industry, known for providing high-quality, energy-efficient hot tubs. Our range of products includes advanced insulation technology that ensures optimal heat retention, offering customers the best value for their money.
Here’s how Kiwi Spas leads the way in hot tub insulation:
1. Full Foam Insulation
Kiwi Spas provides full foam insulation in their hot tubs, one of the most effective methods for retaining heat. This involves filling the entire cavity between the hot tub shell and the cabinet with high-density foam, which acts as an excellent barrier to heat loss. Full foam insulation not only conserves heat but also adds structural support to the hot tub, improving its durability and stability.
2. Multi-Layer Insulation
In addition to full foam, Kiwi Spas incorporates multi-layer insulation systems. These systems use multiple layers of insulation material to create a more efficient heat barrier. This approach further reduces the need for frequent heating, making your hot tub more environmentally friendly and reducing energy consumption. Whether you’re dealing with extreme cold or simply want to cut down on energy use, Kiwi Spas’ multi-layer insulation is a game-changer.
3. Eco-Friendly Insulation Materials
At Kiwi Spas, we prioritize sustainability, which is why we use eco-friendly insulation materials in our hot tubs. These materials are not only effective at retaining heat but also minimize environmental impact. By choosing Kiwi Spas, you’re opting for a greener, more sustainable hot tub experience.
4. Custom Insulation Solutions
We understand that every customer’s needs are different, which is why we offer customized insulation solutions based on the climate and specific usage patterns. Whether you live in a colder region where heat retention is critical or need a solution for occasional hot tub use, Kiwi Spas can tailor the insulation to meet your unique requirements.
Why Choose Kiwi Spas for Your Hot Tub Needs?
In addition to their superior insulation solutions, Kiwi Spas offers a wide range of hot tub designs that prioritize energy efficiency, comfort, and durability. Their hot tubs are built with cutting-edge technology and are crafted to provide the ultimate relaxation experience. Here are a few more reasons to choose Kiwi Spas:
Wide Selection: Kiwi Spas offers a diverse range of hot tubs, from compact models for small spaces to large, luxurious tubs that can accommodate multiple people.

The Benefits of Removing an Old Spa
Spas and hot tubs have long been associated with luxury, relaxation, and a touch of indulgence. For many homeowners, they represent a private retreat right in their backyard. However, as with all things, spas age and can lose their appeal and functionality over time. If you have an old, rarely-used, or malfunctioning spa, it might be time to consider the benefits of spa removal Melbourne. Here’s why taking out that old spa could be one of the best decisions you make for your property.
Revitalised Outdoor Aesthetics
Over time, even the most well-maintained spa can start to show signs of ageing. The once-pristine surface may become discoloured, tiles might crack or chip, and the overall structure can begin to look dated. An old spa can clash with the rest of your landscaping efforts, dragging down the overall appearance of your yard. Removing it can dramatically improve the visual appeal of your outdoor space. Without the bulky, ageing structure dominating the area, you can implement new design elements such as a garden, a deck, or even a modern outdoor seating area. This transformation can breathe new life into your property, making it more enjoyable and visually appealing.
Boosting Property Value
When potential buyers tour a home, they are often looking for spaces that require minimal investment to make them usable or enjoyable. An old spa that’s seen better days can be a red flag, signalling additional costs and headaches. By removing it, you can make your property more attractive to buyers. The absence of an old spa means one less thing for new homeowners to worry about, making your home more appealing in a competitive real estate market. Additionally, the extra space gained from removing the spa can be marketed as a blank canvas for buyers to create their own outdoor oasis.
Significant Reduction in Maintenance Costs
Owning a spa, especially an older model, can be a costly affair. Regular maintenance is necessary to keep it running smoothly, including balancing the water’s pH, cleaning filters, and checking for leaks or malfunctions. As spas age, they often require more frequent repairs, which can be expensive. Pumps may fail, heaters may need replacing, and cracks can form in the shell. These costs add up over time, not to mention the time and effort required to keep the spa in good working condition. By removing the spa, you can eliminate these ongoing expenses and free up both your time and budget for other projects or activities.
Enhanced Safety for Your Family and Guests
Old spas can become a safety hazard, particularly if they have not been well-maintained. Cracked surfaces, exposed electrical components, or malfunctioning jets can lead to accidents or injuries. Additionally, if a spa is no longer in use but still holds water, it can attract mosquitoes and other pests, posing a health risk. Standing water can also become a breeding ground for algae and bacteria, which can cause unpleasant odours or even health issues if left unchecked. By removing the spa, you remove these risks, creating a safer environment for your family, pets, and guests.
Energy Savings and Environmental Benefits
Older spas are notorious for their lack of energy efficiency. They often consume large amounts of electricity to maintain water temperature, power jets, and operate filtration systems. If the spa is rarely used, this energy consumption can be a significant waste. Removing the spa can lead to substantial energy savings, reducing your utility bills and your home’s overall carbon footprint. This move is not only good for your wallet but also aligns with environmentally-conscious living, which is becoming increasingly important to many homeowners.
Unlocking More Usable Space
One of the most significant benefits of removing an old spa is the opportunity to reclaim valuable space in your yard. Depending on the size of your spa, you could gain a substantial area that can be repurposed in various ways. Whether you’re dreaming of a lush garden, a play area for children, an outdoor kitchen, or even a small pool, the space formerly occupied by the spa can be put to much better use. This newfound flexibility allows you to customise your outdoor living space to better suit your current needs and lifestyle.
Peace of Mind
For many homeowners, an old spa that no longer gets used can become a source of stress. Concerns about potential leaks, electrical issues, or the overall safety of the unit can linger, even if the spa is not in use. By removing the spa, you eliminate these worries. No more wondering if it will cause problems during the next heavy rainstorm or if it will be a point of contention during a home inspection. The peace of mind that comes with a clear, worry-free outdoor space is invaluable.
Simplified Yard Maintenance
An old spa can complicate routine yard maintenance. Mowing around it, trimming nearby plants, or dealing with overgrown areas can be more difficult when there’s a large, immovable object in the way. Once the spa is removed, yard maintenance becomes much simpler. You can mow, trim, and care for your lawn or garden without having to navigate around the spa, leading to a tidier and more easily maintained outdoor space.
Hassle-Free Removal Process
One of the biggest concerns homeowners have about removing an old spa is the perceived difficulty of the process. However, professional spa removal services can handle everything from start to finish, including dismantling, hauling, and disposal. These services are equipped to manage even the most challenging removals, ensuring that the spa is safely and efficiently removed without causing damage to your property. This hassle-free approach means you can focus on planning your new outdoor space without worrying about the logistics of the removal.
While spas can provide years of enjoyment, there comes a time when they may no longer serve their purpose or fit your lifestyle. Removing an old spa offers a multitude of benefits, from improving the appearance and safety of your yard to reducing costs and energy consumption. It’s an opportunity to reimagine your outdoor space, whether by adding new features, increasing usable space, or simply enjoying a cleaner, more open environment. If you’ve been holding onto an old spa out of nostalgia or uncertainty, consider the significant advantages of removal—it might just be the change your home needs.

How to Manage Your Old Spa Hot Tub: Spa Removal in Brisbane
Owning a spa hot tub can be a luxurious experience, offering relaxation and therapeutic benefits. However, as your spa ages, it may become more of a burden than a pleasure. When it reaches this stage, you might wonder what to do next. Managing an old spa hot tub involves several considerations, from maintenance to removal. This guide will help you navigate the process, especially if you’re in Brisbane and considering professional removal services like Dump Runners.
Tumblr media
Assess the Condition of Your Spa Hot Tub
Before deciding to remove your spa hot tub, assess its condition. If it's still functional but showing signs of wear and tear, some maintenance might extend its life. Check for issues like:
1. Leaks: Inspect the shell, pipes, and connections for any leaks. 2. Heating Problems: Ensure the heater is working efficiently. 3. Pump Issues: Listen for unusual noises from the pump, which may indicate problems. 4. Water Quality: Assess the water’s clarity and quality, which can reveal issues with the filtration system.
If these issues are minor, repairing them could be more cost-effective than removal. However, if the spa is beyond repair, removal might be the best option.
Consider Recycling or Donating
Before opting for disposal, consider if your spa hot tub can be recycled or donated. Some parts, like the pump or heater, can be reused or sold. Contact local recycling centers in Brisbane to see if they accept spas. Additionally, organizations or individuals might be interested in refurbishing your spa, giving it a new lease on life.
Plan for Safe Removal
If you decide on removal, planning is crucial. Spa hot tubs are large and heavy, requiring careful handling to avoid injury or damage to your property. Here are steps to ensure a smooth removal process:
1. Disconnect Utilities: Ensure the spa is disconnected from electrical and plumbing systems. This step should be handled by professionals to ensure safety. 2. 7 Tips to Help You Enjoy Your Patio All Year
Just because we’re headed into the cold-weather season doesn’t mean that you should pack away the patio furniture and stay indoors until Ground Hog Day. With the right planning and preparation, you can enjoy your outdoor living space all year long. Here are 7 tips to keep you living the good life in your own backyard.
Tumblr media
Sitting outside in rain and drizzle is no fun when you don’t have anything over your head keeping it dry. Hiring a contractor to build onto your house to create a patio roof can be an expensive and lengthy project. Luckily, Rainier Shade offers retractable awnings that allow you to extend the area of your outdoor living space, will keep you dry outside during the rainy season as well as cool and shaded in the summer. Just to make sure to retract the awning during inclement weather or when not in use. To find out what type of awning would be best for your home, contact a dealer near you and schedule an in-home consultation.
2. Stay Warm with a Power Screen
When the wintertime comes around, there’s no better way to enjoy your patio than a warm area and a hot cup of cocoa. Rainier power screens can help keep the cold out and the warmth in, especially with a heat source. It can also offer a level of privacy so that you can stay out while no one looks in. Depending on where you are in the country, this winter’s going to get a little chilly, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sit outside and do some stargazing or sipping on hot cocoa. Investing in an outdoor heater will not only keep you and your guests cozy but will also add an extra layer of ambiance outside. You can find tall propane heaters, table style fireplaces, or octagon stoves like this one from Rainier Outdoor: https://rainieroutdoor.com/kwik-kamp-octagon-stove.html
4. Warm Up in a Hot Tub
One of the best things about having a hot tub is that it can be used year-round. There is nothing more relaxing than soaking in a hot tub on a cold night, or better yet, a snowy night! Doubling as your own private spa, it can also help relax and soothe achy muscles.
5. Add Some Mood Lighting
No outdoor living area is complete without lighting. Gather some hanging patio string lights or candles and watch the ambiance of your seating area change in an instant. Once you know what kind of lighting you want, make sure you know how to light them up. LED lights will last a long time, and traditional lighting might need some extra electrical wiring outside.
6. Weatherproof Furniture
If you really want to enjoy your outdoor space year-round, you’ll need weatherproof outdoor furniture so that you’ll be able to enjoy your outdoor living area for years to come. Look for furniture created from certain types of wood like teak, eucalyptus, and cedar, plastics like synthetic resin wicker, and metals like aluminum steel or wrought iron.

The Ultimate Hot Tub Buying Checklist: Avoiding Common Pitfalls
Purchasing a hot tub is an exciting investment that promises relaxation, entertainment, and therapeutic benefits.
However, with so many options available, it's easy to overlook critical factors that could lead to buyer's remorse.
This ultimate hot tub buying checklist will help you avoid common pitfalls and make a well-informed decision.
Determine Your Budget
Before diving into the world of hot tubs, it's essential to set a realistic budget. Hot tubs come in a wide price range, from affordable models to high-end luxury options.
Be sure to account for additional costs such as installation, maintenance, and accessories. Knowing your budget will help narrow down your choices and prevent overspending.
Tumblr media
Choose The Right Size And Capacity
Swim spa comes in various sizes and capacities, typically accommodating anywhere from two to eight people.
Consider how many people will regularly use the hot tub and the space you have available. Ensure that the chosen model fits comfortably in your designated area, leaving enough room for installation and access.
Additionally, check that the hot tub's weight, when filled with water and occupants, won't exceed the load capacity of your deck or patio.
Evaluate Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is a crucial factor that affects the ongoing cost of running your hot tub. Look for models with well-insulated covers, energy-efficient pumps, and programmable controls that allow you to manage energy use.
A well-insulated hot tub retains heat better, reducing the frequency of heating cycles and saving you money on your utility bills.
Check The Warranty And Support
A hot tub is a significant investment, and you'll want to protect it with a solid warranty. Carefully review the warranty coverage for the shell, pumps, heater, and other components.
Additionally, consider the manufacturer's reputation for customer service and support. A long-term warranty with comprehensive coverage can save you from costly repairs down the road.
Plan For Maintenance And Water Care
Hot tubs require regular maintenance, including water treatment, cleaning, and occasional repairs. Consider the time and effort you're willing to invest in upkeep.
Research water care systems and decide whether you prefer chlorine, bromine, or saltwater systems. Additionally, ask about the availability of replacement parts and the ease of finding a qualified technician for repairs.
Verify The Dealer's Reputation
Choose a reputable Sauna store that offers quality products and reliable service. Read customer reviews, ask for recommendations, and check the dealer's credentials. A trustworthy dealer will provide you with honest advice, offer after-sales support, and ensure a smooth buying process.

How Important Is Water Quality Testing for My Pool or Hot Tub?
Maintaining a pool or hot tub involves more than just cleaning and adding chemicals. One of the most critical aspects of pool and hot tub care is regular water quality testing. At Pool DoctoRX and Spa, we emphasize the importance of this practice to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and healthy swimming experience. Let’s explore why water quality testing is essential for your pool or hot tub.
1. Ensuring Safety and Health
The primary reason for testing your water is to ensure it is safe for swimmers. Poor water quality can lead to various health issues, including skin rashes, eye irritation, and respiratory problems. More severe conditions such as gastrointestinal illnesses can occur if harmful bacteria and pathogens are present in the water. Regular testing helps identify these contaminants and allows you to take corrective action promptly.
2. Balancing Chemical Levels
Proper chemical balance is crucial in maintaining clear and clean water. Testing your pool or hot tub water regularly helps you monitor levels of chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness. Imbalanced chemicals can lead to cloudy water, algae growth, and scale formation. By keeping these levels in check, you ensure a safe and pleasant environment for swimmers.
3. Preventing Equipment Damage
Water that is not correctly balanced can cause significant damage to your pool or hot tub equipment. For instance, water that is too acidic or too alkaline can corrode pipes, filters, and heaters, leading to expensive repairs or replacements. Regular water testing allows you to maintain the proper balance, extending the life of your equipment and saving you money in the long run.
4. Enhancing Swimmer Comfort
Properly balanced water not only ensures safety but also enhances swimmer comfort. Water that is too acidic or contains high levels of chlorine can cause skin and eye irritation. Maintaining the correct pH and chemical levels creates a more comfortable swimming experience, making your pool or hot tub more enjoyable for everyone.
5. Preventing Algae and Bacteria Growth
Regular testing and maintenance help prevent the growth of algae and harmful bacteria. These microorganisms thrive in poorly maintained water and can quickly turn your pool or hot tub into a breeding ground for disease. By keeping your water clean and properly balanced, you inhibit the growth of these unwanted guests.
6. Cost Savings
By regularly testing and maintaining your water quality, you can avoid costly issues down the line. Preventing algae blooms, bacterial infestations, and equipment damage reduces the need for expensive treatments and repairs. Investing in regular water testing is a cost-effective way to keep your pool or hot tub in optimal condition.
