Literally need to make a pro/con list for this job offer. Because I'm on St. P's Vestry, I was able to look at the church finance records and see what the current admin is paid per hour. It is higher than what is listed in the job description (which I recall is two years old at least). That with the health insurance stipend, I think I have room to negotiate to match my current salary.

But today has already been a cluster...three pissed off phone calls (directed at the priest but putting me in the middle) in the span of an hour. He still hasn't approved the Easter Sunday bulletin, which will take at least a couple hours to print due to the large amount. I'm so sick of the drama. And I keep telling myself, is it really bad enough to leave?

Then my mind goes, Life is too short to be miserable in your job when the world is on fire and your head is already a miserable place. And here a job offer fell into your lap. Do I really pass this up? If I didn't have the offer, I think I could ride it out for another year. But here is an opportunity to escape. So should I take it?

Arggg...my gut is still telling me to take it. Multiple people have said to take it. I'm pretty sure I should take it. Anxiously waiting for my meeting with W in 5 days.

well, it looks like we officially got a high risk on saturday. its been a lil under a year since the last one. heres the link to see updates, look at the "convective outlook" part for this (linked in the massive pink banner at the top of the page)

especially if you're in that pink area, obviously its hard to predict HOW bad its gonna get cause even with all the tech weatherpeople still aint psychic, but just like. be careful. keep an eye on things and maybe figure out if theres storm shelters nearby just in case, keep an eye on the news, try to avoid watching clickbaity youtubers who call every single storm "the big one" and instead watch actual serious people, etc. from the day 1 outlook description:

A tornado outbreak is expected across the central Gulf Coast States and Deep South into the Tennessee Valley. Numerous significant tornadoes, some of which should be long-track and potentially violent, are expected this afternoon and evening. So work is an epic shitshow that is growing increasingly worse. I met with W to get his advice and he said a) they should not be putting me, the administrator, in between the priest and congregants, b) if he did in fact take down the pride flag from the website, do I want to still work there, and c) the parish sounds like there is something deeply dysfunctional at its core. Beyond individual difficult parishioners.

I felt better when he reflected back how bad the situation is because I keep comparing it to my teaching position, which was horrific and put me in inpatient/partial for a month after I quit. So this doesn’t seem “as bad.” But this massively caught me off guard…W said they will be looking for a parish administrator very soon at St. P’s…would I be interested because W is concerned about my safety and well-being.

I was floored, essentially getting a job offer. I explained I would need to meet with him further because it needs to be comprable pay, have the flexibility around placement, and it would be temporary. I’m graduating next May and would be entering the social work field, so I could give him more or less a year. On top of it being rare that a parishioner also works at their own parish (having your boss also as a spiritual advisor can be a conflict).

A lot to think about. So anxious about going into work today because the lay leaders are having a stern talking with the priest, who is frankly homophobic, Catholic (despite being Episcopal), and literally not doing his job. He is more concerned with our instagram account than visiting sick people who are requesting him. Like what the fuck. Honestly wanted to call out of work, but it’s Holy Week and I have a shit ton to do. Which is his fault because he is not doing his work, which is preventing me from completing my responsibilities. I don’t know a single person who is not pissed off with him…

speaking of moving out, the twins are off to college! i guess solarhaze could have stayed with cezar, but i think odelia and genos are more than happy to be empty nesters.
