Learning any new language is incredibly difficult; you're basically rewiring your brain to process the world through an entirely different lens and it's absolutely an uphill battle no matter who you are or what language you're learning.
But there is such a distinct difference between learning languages taught in many schools and on dozens of apps, that also have millions of speakers to share their own insight and to talk to, compared to learning languages that have anywhere from 1000 to half a dozen native speakers left in the entire world, sometimes less. Those languages are the ones that DON'T have special courses on popular apps, that are often restricted to dry textbooks and livestreams with a dozen people struggling to explain their languages in ways that make sense.
There ARE a lot of efforts to make indigenous languages more accessible, but they're slow going and still pretty rare and many of the ones aimed at adults are just confusing. And it seems to me like a lot of the people who are like. Almost offended at indigenous people not knowing our languages just don't understand how few resources we really have, especially diasporic indigenous people who don't live in communities with other people from our cultures.
And Ojibwemowin is not an especially rare language compared to many others but it is still just an absolute struggle to find any resources for it that actually makes sense and aren't a patchwork of things thrown at the learner with very little explanation. Information is often contradictory, grammar rules are explained in ways that only make sense to the linguists doing the explaining, and it is so painfully discouraging to realize that it's easier for you to learn a language from a country on the other side of the world than it is to learn the one your family spoke just a few generations ago.

"He's not little." He snorted, it was supposed to be a silent thought, you whined at his laughing. "Shut up. Just tell me what you wanted to say, I need to pack my things."
He sighed, hands in his pockets. "I mean, the kid is young, things can change just don't be hard on him, I'll try to cover up everything from here but I can't do more than that." He said seriously and you nodded in understanding. "And also when you come back for the holidays don't bring any mini-Yuta or mini-you." He just put his hands up at your glare. "I'm saying, if that's your dirty talk, it won't take long to come into fruition."
He was right to some extent, there wasn't a single time where Yuta had worn a condom nor indication that any of you two wanted him to, he came at least once in you every night with words that left little to nothing to the imagination, it was more of a breeding kink you both had and the fact you both looked to a future together that turned you on during sex.
"Goodbye, Satoru." You said flicking him off, throwing the cigarette away.
It was time to start packing because tomorrow Yuta and you would be traveling into a new life together as sorcerers partners for God knows how long. Just the two of you.

Note- this ended up being kind of a character analysis so I hope you enjoy an in-depth exploration of how I characterize the first years.
...
At first, you would only trail after Ace and Deuce because of Grim's involvement, cleaning up the messes they left behind.
Once you got to know them though, you started hanging out with them outside of fixing their mistakes.
It didn't take long for you to be adopted into the first year friend group.
You adore all of them and, with some time, they come to adore you.
Upon meeting all the first years, you realized one crucial fact:
None of these boys have any self preservation.
Ace and Deuce's squabbling and scheming have gotten them into more than one inopportune situation.
You've had to hold Epel back from punching someone who called him cute one too many times.
Jack refused to take care of himself no matter how many times you urged him to practice healthy self care.
And Sebek of courses has screamed at many people for undermining the importance of the Great Malleus Draconia.
You always have to come prepared when you hang out with them, often carrying a full first aid kit and snacks to class with you.
People around NRC have taken to calling you the campus mom.
While your love and affection is reserved for the first year group of friends, if someone come up to you needing a band-aid, you are happy to oblige.
You do a lot for the first years and sometimes they forget to thank you for it, but you know they love you.

Deuce Spade comes to you for tutoring.
Seven knows he needs all the homework help he can get.
He's a bit slow to understand complex concepts so alchemy is his worst class.
Now you aren't at the top of your class but your a quick learner and you are very good at explaining.
Deuce has called you for homework help in the middle of the night many times.
You always smile and talk him through the assignment, explaining the details when he gets stuck.
He just wants to be a good honor student and you really admire him for that.
He's told you how much he wants to make his mom proud of him and you do everything you can to help him feel proud of himself.
When he gets a B- on a test you helped him study for, he's beyond excited to show you his progress.
And he didn't even need to sign a contract for it!
You tell him how proud you are of him and he almost bursts into tears.
He immediately texts his mom a picture of his test.
He's so happy to finally be on his way towards a new future.

Ace Trappola comes to you for impulse control.
He has a big mouth.
There's no way to sugarcoat it. He speaks his mind and gets into a lot of trouble for it.
While you love how honest and upfront he is, you cannot condone the fights he's gotten into because of this.
You are aware that Riddle would be furious about one of his first years tainting the Heartslabyul reputation so you make sure to stop the quarrels before they start.
Ace has a few tells when he's about to say something stupid.
For example, the corner of his mouth quirks up when he knows he could destroy someone's whole career in a few seconds and his eyebrows twitched when he starts getting annoyed.
He doesn't mean to be contrary, he just hates when people don't get what they deserve.
So when he sees some thugs saying something mean about another student, he's going to march up to them and give them a piece of his mind.
When this happens, you grab his shoulder and lead him off somewhere quiet to cool down.
He has a very strong sense of justice but you're still at a school.
You report the bullies to a teacher and go do something relaxing with Ace.
Usually you color in coloring books.
He insists that he's not a kid and he doesn't need coloring books, but it's actually really calming and fun.
While he's not an absolute hot-head, he's headstrong and sometimes needs someone to reign him back in until he can learn how to regulate his impulses by himself.

Epel Felmier comes to you for comfort.
It can be really difficult being in Pomefiore, constantly being poked and prodded, being criticized on your body and your etiquette and your posture.
Epel keeps a delicate persona while he's around other people but when he drops it whenever he's with just you.
He feels comfortable enough to use his real accent and slouch because he knows your the only person who wouldn't judge him for it.
When he's especially upset with Vil on a particular day, he practically sprints to Ramshackle and vents all his frustrations to you while you brush his hair.
He can't really be vulnerable with anyone else, even himself but you helped him to allow himself to feel.
Sometimes he'll just barge into your room and throw his arms open for a hug.
He's always welcome when he needs any kind of comfort.
You listen when he talks and just sit with him when he needs the reaffirmation.
You know how insecure he is about his masculinity and that he doesn't want to be perceived as so fragile and feminine.
But looks don't amount to masculinity.
How other people perceive you doesn't matter as long as you know who you are and you allow yourself to be that person.
It's a bit hard, since Epel has to change quite a bit to fit into the Pomefiore mold but being with you helps him remember who he is and who he wants to be.

Jack Howl comes to you for self care.
He's obviously very determined about his goals and aspirations but sometimes his determination turns into obsession.
When this happens, he won't let himself rest or eat until he's satisfied with his own performance.
He tries to push himself to work harder, hike farther, run faster.
It often just leaves him with exhaustion and a feeling of inadequacy.
Oftentimes, you've had to drag him to his bed when he stays up late exercising.
He just doesn't know how to practice healthy self-care while still striving for self improvement.
You teach him that self-care is the exploration of things that make you happy and help your brain and body to relax.
He eventually discovers that he really enjoys crochet.
He tries to brush it off, saying that crochet isn't manly or that the Savanaclaw students would make fun of him.
You assured him that it does make him any less masculine to enjoy something stereotypically associated with femininity and that it's actually very brave of him to do something that others may not understand.
The two of you crochet together every other evening and listen to audiobooks, usually romance mysteries.
He says he doesn't actually care about the romance bit but you always catch him smiling when the main characters finally kiss.
Being with you has helped him develop healthy habits and take care of himself more.
He really appreciates how you always try to help him stay healthy but you also will take no sh-- if he is too hard on himself.

Sebek Zigvolt comes to you for safety.
It took him a really long time to accept you onto the friend group and an even longer time to trust you.
He never knew your intentions of aspirations and he didn't trust that weird little cat companion of yours.
You'll just be a troublemaker and he wants you nowhere near him or the young master.
No matter how many times you offer to help him study for a test or try to give him some cookies you made, he refuses to like you.
That is, until one particularly difficult day of training for the knights.
Sebek had been a bit off his guard on that day which made him susceptible to surprise attacks from his sparring partner.
He came out of the training session with more than a few bruises.
When you came to visit the Diasomnia dorm to offer him a slice of cake, he tried his best to hide the injuries but you saw right through him.
He protested as you pulled out your first aid kit but you silenced him with a glare that reminded him a little too much of his mother.
He sat down on his bed and took off his shirt so you could tend to his bruises.
He whined like a little baby when you applied isopropyl alcohol to his cuts, to which you rolled your eyes and kept putting bandages on his wounds.
He actually really likes being doted on, but he'd never admit it to a lowly human like you, even if he does really need the hug you give him after.
No matter how hard he tries to escape, once you've noticed an injury he has, you've already fixed it up and kissed it better before he can say The Great Master Malleus Draconia.
He's used to sticking it out and bearing his pain on his own, physical and emotional so it means a lot to him to have someone else caring about his hurt.

They all love you with all their hearts and see you as a true friend and protector of physical/emotional well-being.
Though you love to help people in any way you can, some particularly nasty students try to take advantage of your good nature.
They ask you for more than you can give them, knowing you won't be able to say no.
They pester you constantly asking you for the treats and snuggles that are reserved for your close friends.
They'll even start venting to you without permission, stressing you out with their overwhelming problems.
When someone like this keeps bugging you, rest assured that they are going to get their a$$ beat.
Your friends first use the raw intimidation, standing behind you with murder in their eyes as an obnoxious pesterer talks to you.
That usually scares them off but if they continue to bother you, one of the first years, usually Jack will corner them in a secluded area to tell them to leave you alone.
If it still doesn't work, that's when it gets violent.
They know you would never condone any of them getting into fights but as long as it's for your honor, they are ready to throw hands.
They may get in trouble with the headmaster but they don't care that much.
Not even Jack will regret decking someone who was harassing you.
When you get sick or injured, the boys are practically your servants.
You tell them that they really don't have to do anything for you but after all you've done for them when they're vulnerable, they need to repay the kindness.
Anything you need or want will be yours immediately.
Ace takes notes for you in the classes you miss.
Deuce makes you tea every single day.
Epel sets you up with any books or movies you need.
Jack just sits by your bed, holding your hand so you don't get lonely in your room.
Sebek will 100% rush around getting you anything you need, from food to tissues to pads.
Ask and you shall receive.
They all just want to show you how much they love you and how much you mean to them.
You've done a lot for each of them and there's no denying that you are a very important person in the first year friend group.

I think I have finally slowly internalised the fact that motivation is a feeling, an emotion just like any other. It comes and goes as it please.
And well my study schedule cannot change to adjust to my bouts of motivation.
The key for me, I realised, was discipline.
Yes it’s hard and sucky and I hate it. But I do it anyway. Because if I don’t, the regret that I feel later on makes me hate myself. And I fear that regret so much.
So for me its a choice - I can either suffer the pain of discipline or I can suffer the pain of regret. And if I’m going to be in pain anyway, why the heck should I not gain something out of it?
So I sit down to study.
Sure I also add things that will make it easy for me to do that. Because I, I love studying. Once I start, I really really enjoy the subjects I have chosen and the concepts I understand. I love learning.
But for me the really hard part is sitting down to study. So I work on that…
1. I just sit down. On time. With a schedule that I follow everyday so that I exert less mental strength trying to convince myself. I just know its time for me to study if I follow my schedule.
2. I am all about the little things, all about feeling good and in control. So I do that. I make a big and aesthetic affair out of sitting down to study. I prepare myself a snack and get myself something to drink and set my study area and books - I create a visual setup that appeals to me and makes me want to study.
3. I limit how many times I get up. I know people say that our attention span is short and we should use the pomodoro technique, but personally speaking it just does not work for me. I find it hard to get in the study zone but really easy to stay once I am there and concentrating and so taking many breaks actually really distracts me and take me out of my study zone. So I take less breaks and I make sure I already have everything I need with me before I sit down to study so that I do not have to get up.
4. I make the process fun for me. I know my way of studying, my strengths and my weaknesses. So I use them to my advantage. I am a very conceptual learner, I am a visual learner, I am prefer to write things down to slow myself and understand, I prefer my study material in my own language and my own way of explaining, I am a very organised person. I am very bad at memorising random facts that have no logic. So I incorporate all these in my notes - I make my notes very organised and aesthetic notes that help me memorise. I add diagrams and flowcharts of my own explanations. I use mnemonics that relate to me and are easy for me to remember (they are usually jokes that make people thing I have a very broken sense of humour).
5. I do not study in groups. I know again this is very controversial specially for med school but when I am understanding a new topic, I find the presence of people around me very distracting. I prefer to study in my room by myself. On the other hand, once I have studied the topic, I benefit from group discussions. I sit down with my friends and make them understand the topic… this helps them and it helps me. Teaching someone else is a very good way of revising for me and their questions make me think and understand parts I may have missed while studying.
6. I plan what I am going to study the next day, the might before. I put my pen on the first page of the topic or chapter or whatever and shut the book. This way I know I simply have to open my book and get down to study because everything else has been done before. It’s almost like I get rid of my possible excuses before hand. I decrease the resistance.
I feel sitting down and understanding your way of studying is important for this very reason. So that you can make your plan and study accordingly. It decreases so much resistance and makes you so sure of your ways.
It makes me enjoy studying and study better all the way!

 AU that lives in my head
It’s ‘92, there’s no upside down and Steve is going to college to be a physical therapist.
He works nights at a bar with Robin, they live together and are very broke but very happy, he is set on not failing school and proving his parents wrong but he's a slow learner, the good grades don’t come easily and he is constantly distracted by pretty faces so he's adamant on not dating until he's done with school.
So he works nights, goes to school in the afternoons and hangs out with his kids in his free time.
Eddie owns a music shop in town that has a special room all decorated for D&D nights and that's how he meets the kids.
But the way that he meets Steve is because one night the bar is hosting a bachelorette party (Chrissy's) and the guy who was supposed to put on a show (nothing too scandalous because all of Chrissy's friends are prudes) cancels last minute and the bar owner tells Steve,
“I will pay you double if you go out there and sing”
And Steve says “No, no way” but the owner insists, 
"Triple if you grab that guitar, take off your clothes and sing two songs!" 
And Steve does obviously, because its easy money and they need it so he's thrown on the stage with only an acoustic guitar that (barely) covers his junk, ("Wait you didn't tell what song!?")
Eddie is sitting close to the bar because he can't stand Chrissy's other friends, making small talk with the barwoman and his mouth hits the ground when Steve appears on stage (Robin's mouth does too but Eddie doesn't see that) 
The guy looks shocked for a millisecond before smiling and saying “Ahoy ladies” and then immediately cringes (the barwoman behind him starts cackling) but the guy on stage takes a deep breath and then starts talking to the audience flirting up a storm and the audience is eating it up, he asks for songs requests and sits on a stool carefully, all the time making sure everything is covered.
He actually uses one hand to adjust himself behind the guitar before crossing his legs (making his audience shuffle trying to get a look) and Eddie thinks ‘big boy’.
When the man asks for requests Eddie yells Metallica just to be an asshole but he perks up and says "Oh, one of my kids has been listening to this song nonstop" before he starts tuning the guitar, Eddie thinks 'He has kids?? He looks so young.' 
So this guy, this David by Michellangelo starts playing ‘Nothing else matters’ and he's not really good with the guitar, mostly playing something resembling the right tune but these people would not know the difference, only Eddie does and he doesn't give a shit because his voice!
His voice is amazing, he’s doing an acoustic, soft version that sounds incredible and he has range, he sounds so good, and he sings looking at his audience with soft eyes that close on the chorus like he’s feeling every word and Eddie is kind of in love.
 When the song is done everyone claps, the audience is enraptured and Eddie claps really loud but not as loud as the barwoman behind him who keeps yelling "Yeah! go Steve!! that's my babyman!!!"
Steve, his name is Steve.
So Steve asks for one last song and Chrissy asks for Don Mclean and he lights up and says American Pie is one of his favorites and he sings with passion and makes everyone join him for the last part with encouraging smiles and winks and its great and Eddie write odes about the naked man with the guitar in his head all the while.
 Then he's off the stage and Eddie wants to ask the barwoman if he's a regular but before he can Steve shows up with the same black shirt she’s wearing and she screams, runs towards him and jumps, he catches her easily as she says, “That was fuckign amazing dude”
 “I’m never doing that again” 
“I saw your ass, it's great!” she says laughing excitedly and Eddie snorts, making them both look at him, Steve smiles bashfully and says to both of them, “Yeah, sorry about that” 
And Eddie, can't help himself says, “Don't be”
Steve turns red and Eddie suddenly feels hungry but he takes a step back, doesn't want to come on too strong and says “You were great, the singing I mean”
“Thanks?, thank you.”
“I’m serious, you have an amazing voice, and the guitar wasn't half bad”
And Steve laughs prettily and says, “My guitar was shit man” and Eddie is freaking out because this guy is fucking gorgeous.
They talk some more, he learns both Robin and Steve have been working at the bar for almost a year now and that that little stunt with the guitar was the first and last time is ever going to happen and Eddie thinks he’s really lucky if that's the case, he says that much just to watch Steve blush again and Robin laugh, he flirts just a little more and then goes back to Chrissy when he gets the hint that, although Steve looks interested he’s not getting his number tonight.
Robbin slaps Steve when Eddie leaves, “Why didn't you get his number?” and Steve reminds her about his rule of no pretty faces while he’s studying.
Next time Eddie sees Steve is when he’s hosting D&D at his shop. They are wrapping up and the kids are leaving but Mike’s car won’t start and he’s cursing and hitting his wheel. It’s raining heavily so Dustin, Lucas and Will are waiting inside and Dustin says, “I think we should call mom”
“No way he said we shouldn't bother him unless it's an emergency, he’s got a big test on monday!” Lucas says and Eddie thinks ‘mom?? He??? Test? What??’
But Mike comes back inside furious “Lets fucking call mom!” he says as if he knew exactly what they were talking about.
So Dustin asks Eddie to use his phone and while he’s calling, Eddie asks Will “Who’s mom?”
“Oh he’s just a friend of ours, but he’s older and really overprotective so we call him mom, it's an inside joke” he shrugs, and Lucas looks at Eddie very seriously and says,
“Not in front of him so please, if he shows up” and mimics closing his mouth with a zip.
Mike look super pissed about having to call this guy so Eddie asks him if he doesnt like him, and Mike, exasperated says “No, I fucking love him and if any of you say that to him I will kill you” and Eddie is really confused. 
Especially when, who actually shows up is Steve but like a completely different Steve from the guy he saw at the bar, that one had dark fitting jeans and an obscenely tight shirt and carefully styled hair and this one? This one is wearing a comfy yellow sweater and gray sweatpants and his hair is a mess and he’s wearing glasses and Eddie is having a breakdown because he doesnt know which one is hotter.
Steve runs to the shop because it's still pouring outside and once he’s in he doesn't even get to talk because Mike is on him instantly, “Steve! This fuckign car man! It keeps breaking and I did everything you told me, I take care of it! I’m so sick-!”
Steve calms him down first, talks him out of destroying the poor thing and says “We’ll look into it,ok?”
Then he finally greets the others, hugs them all and Dustin says “Sorry for bothering you when you were studding man” and Steve messes up with hair,
“Its ok I need it a break anyways” 
He’s so nice with the kids. It's so cute and Eddie thinks ‘oh, his kids, now I get it’ with a smile and that’s when Steve sees Eddie and goes red all over but Eddie saves face and introduces himself as if they don't know each other.
Steve is still blushing but he smiles and makes small talk for a while, then says “Well, let's look at the car”
Mike complains about the rain but Steve says “Sorry kid but I need to get back to studying, I'll check it out, you can stay inside” 
Mike sighs “No, no I told you, I want to learn lets go”
Steve hesitates before going out, whispers ‘I can't get sick tho’ and takes off his sweater and throws it to Will “Here, hold this for me BB?”
Will catches it ungracefully and blushes.
Eddie thinks it's a small miracle he’s wearing a white tank top underneath but as soon as they step outside they are both drenched and the top becomes a curse.
To distract himself he asks Will about the nickname and Will says it mean Baby Byers, “Steve is friends with my older brother so growing up Jonathan was Byers and I was Baby Byers”
Lucas whispers to Eddie that Will might like that nickname a little too much and Eddie chuckles and thinks he can't really blame him, they are all staring at them trying to find out what wrong with the car, well the kids are, Eddie is staring at Steve’s shoulders, his arms, his chest, for some reason even tho he’s already seen him practically naked, the tank top and the rain and the fact that he’s fixing a car is making it much worse.
He hears Lucas tell Dustin “He’s going to cause another accident man” and Dustin laughs so Eddie asks them,
“Another?” and Lucas tells him they once saw a girl run head first into an open car door on her bike for staring at Steve and they all start laughing.
Steve helps Mike fix the car and they high five and go back inside looking triumphant, the kids say it's getting late and while Steve dries with a towel Eddie just handed him and puts his sweater back on (small mercies) they say their goodbyes, after they leave Steve hangs around looking awkward, Eddie thinks he gets why so he tells him, “Listen man, I won't say anything about that show at the bar if that's what you are worried about”, and Steve laughs and says,
“What? No, they already know I work at a bar and Robin already told them about the impromptu concert, they laughed their asses off. I was actually going to ask you not to tell Mike I butchered his favorite song” 
Eddie laughs and tells him once again he didn’t, he was amazing. And if he sounds way too enamored when he says it, they both pretend not to notice.

Vlad had felt eyes on him all afternoon. He had been handing out his flowers since the morning, but there was one person that seemed reluctant to approach him.
Ah, yes, the young one that dear Comte had taken in, he remembered her. Will had informed the pureblood about the newly arrived resident, writing her off as someone unimportant. If not for Will and that he couldn’t sense a drop of vampire blood in her, pure, lesser, or otherwise, he might have thought her a relative of the good Comte with her golden locks. Her stylish clothes also didn't help her resemblance to him, he thought with a chuckle.
She seemed to be on her own, grocery shopping perhaps? The bags at her side seemed to suggest so.
It would be an opportune moment to whisk her away from Comte's watchful gaze with no butler her, and no other residents around to stop him… With no one guarding her, he could escort her to his abode and treat her as a special guest. The thought was tempting.
He decided against it, however, seeing her concentrating so hard on the book in her lap, a pencil moving with careful, measured movements.
An artist, perhaps? A learner, at the very least, with how careful she was being with her strokes.
Well, now he was curious.
Moving quietly, he set his flower cart to the side and walked to the girl sitting on the bench, indeed her pencil moving at a careful, slow pace. He crossed his arms and leaned against the bench back, leaning over her shoulder to take a peek at her book, seeing careful musings of his cart in the sun and the flowers glistening in graphite hues. Vlad smiled.
"Your drawings are quite lovely," he said, startling the girl so badly, a hard line of black scratched her page, miraculously missing her little sketches.
"Ah, s-sorry, monsieur," her cheeks turned pink in embarrassment, "I didn't mean to-"
"It's alright, domnișoară." Vlad's smile brightened, "I was wondering who was staring so intently for so long and had to come over to say hello."
Her cheeks deepened.

Maddie
"So, how does it work exactly?" Loki asked, resting his crossed arms on the back of Maddie's chair, watching her work. She was sewing a little pink flower with shimmering thread, humming a little tune.
"There's not an exact science to it, I think." She said, tying off a knot to look at her handiwork. "Ever since I was a young girl, whenever I sang to some inanimate object, it somehow held onto the feelings I put into it and it worked. I remember making a flower for a girl at school one time because we were classmates and she wanted some courage to tell a guy she liked him, so I stayed up making her a flower she could put on her jacket."
"Did it work?"
"Yeah, it did. She had so much courage that she blurted out all the words she wanted to say, and they went steady for a while, if I remember right."
"Sure it wasn't a coincidence though? Like, maybe it wasn't the flower that gave her courage directly?"
"You'd think that." Maddie turned her flower over, putting some hot glue on the back of it, "but there was another time where a boy was picking on me and I gave him what I call… a hateagram."
"Hateagram?"
"When I was making another flower at the time, I was angry and frustrated because he kept teasing me. About my weight, about my hobbies, that I lived my grandparents, basically anything he could make me feel horrible about, he teased me about it."
Maddie set her flower down.
"So I said some nasty things to the little flower I was making at the time. All my tears and every bad word I could think to call him, I told that innocent flower."
"So, what happened after that?"
"Well, I went to sleep that night, forgetting that I had slipped it in my backpack as a habit. I went to school and saw my tormentor again. He was grinning, at the ready with an insult just for me."
Maddie took a breath.
"Then…"
"Then?"
"My backpack started glowing. It was so strange."
"Glowing?"
"A sickly green color. Then, vines appeared out of nowhere, grabbing onto the boy."
"Then?"
"Hung him upside down by his ankles."
Loki laughed.
"Serves him right."
"Naturally, but, as you know, magic in the Land of Reason isn't all that common. Had to change schools, use plausible deniability to the best of our abilities. Grandad got a laugh out of it."

Clara
The packet of rose seeds had finally arrived in Benitoite, much to Clara's joy. Though she loved living near the briny sea, she felt pangs of homesickness every once in a while, missing the sweet scent of the year-round roses of Rhodolite. She didn't know how the roses will stand the salty air, but she wanted to give it a try, to have a little taste of home away from home.
After asking permission, she found a small patch in the royal gardens and got to work, her big straw hat shading her from the bright sun overhead. She soon found herself humming as she moved soil and made a few small holes. She wasn't much of one for singing, but something about Benitoite sea shanties stuck in her head, making her giggle. One in particular always put her in mind of a certain brother-in-law of hers.
"What do we do with a drunken' sailor," she sung softly, a smile taking over her face, "what do we do with a drunken sailor, what do we do with a drunken' sailor, early in the morning~"
After a few moments into her little song, Clara saw, or rather heard, someone approach. The jingle jangle was unmistakable. Even his shadow looming behind her had glitters of gems from the sun.
"Oi, sass woman." His voice spat.
Clara, standing and dusting her hands on her apron, gave her best cheeky smile.
"Good morning, Prince Silvio," she said, "glad to see you up so early."
The man grumbled while rubbing his head.
"Please stop singing that infernal song."
"But I like it."
"You always sing it when I'm near you. It's pissing me off."
"Rio taught it to me, so… no I don't think so."
Silvio huffed.
"Rotten mutt. Of course it was him."
Clara giggled and went back to her plot, covering the seeds with dirt.
"What are you doing anyway?"
"Planting some seeds. Rose seedlings."
"Of course you are." Silvio sighed. "You know we could have imported that easily if you wanted some of your damned roses."
"I don't know, something about growing them myself, just feels more special, you know?"
"Sounds like work."
"Most things worthwhile require a little work."
Silvio grumbled again.
"As much as you and that mutt keep yapping in my ear."
"You might like the work. You never until you try, Prince Silvio."
"No thanks." he shrugged, "I'll let you and that mutt have your fun playing in the dirt. Where is he, anyway?"
"He had some business with His Majesty this morning, so he left early, promising his evening for me. And the afternoon if he can swing it."
"Rhetorical question."
"Should have phrased it that way, then."

Happy Birthday Scottish golfer Sam Torrance born 24th August 1953 in Largs.
Sam is one of the characters of Scottish sport, he always seems to have a smile on his face and enjoying himself. His father, Bob, taught him to golf when he was 7 years old.
Winning 32 titles on the European Tour and European Senior Tour around the world is something to be proud of. So, too, is holing the winning putt in a Ryder Cup then returning to that same venue – The Belfry – to captain a European team to victory in the biennial event against the USA. But, to come home to Scotland and receive confirmation that you hold a special place in the hearts of the most knowledgeable golfing fans on the planet is surely as good as it gets.
He was one of the leading players on the European Tour from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, with 21 Tour wins. Torrance was a member of European Ryder Cup teams on eight occasions, from 1981 to 1995 consecutively; he was on Cup-winning teams in 1985, 1987, 1989, and 1995. He was the winning non-playing captain of the European Ryder Cup team in 2002.
Torrance currently works as a commentator for BBC Sport golf coverage., previously he was appeared several times on the long running BBC quiz show A Question of Sport and with Sharron Davies and team captain Phil Tufnell in the 37th season of the show made history by achieving the first-ever perfect score on the show since it started in 1970.
Sam was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the glitzy Scottish Golf Dinner in 2012.
In June this year he was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) by the University of St Andrews.
“I left school 56 years ago so I guess I’m a kind of slow learner,” Torrance said.
“But it was magnificent to watch all the students come up, the pride in their faces. It was really beautiful. This is the only place I would have accepted one. It is one of my most favourite places in the world. Or my favourite golf course as it has ever been.
“I’m very happy here. I’ll look back on this and remember it forever. So it’s a great honour for my family, for me.”
He celebrated 30 years of marriage to actress Suzanne Danielle in 2018, the couple have 4 children.

Been Adult dyspraxia not good sport ,or games always be in goal keeper in netball and football.
Sport more challenging for me is swimming and Table tennis and tennis and Badminton but hate losing because was always on lost team I always pick last on round and netball at in school and college too but didn't do well in special school push wheelchair in school. Trying have Job as adult with youth training all well with £40 per week but after leaving Stafford College I working in St Mary ever Wednesday just £20. I lost instead over £20 per week want more money all could have 25p crisp ( which now can't have anymore)
Find really hard keep job incude volunteer job Richard fellowship, PSDA,and Upper morton farm, I was volunteer of Cannock college behalf of Richard fellowship but lost Staffordshire Council link and try Making space but wasn't any good because mum had use phone for me I was told " You can't be volunteer because of mum" at in front of public view in cafe in Stafford and really upset didn't tell mum at first because she was hurt. Charity shops use work all want me do buttons up on clothes having dyspraxia can't do that " I told lazy if didn't do the buttons hate them so glad leave charity shops I won't be returning back too.
Even when working nursing home I hear staff said I don't want work with her she too slow"
I want to find somewhere college crouse working with Animals as missing my dog Darcy Russell Shaw my little lamb tail who die 24 August 2013 and then Annabel die ages of 16 years old 2022 then Sydnee die at age 17 years old really missing then both after Annabel die Sydnee was under happy so was I too under happy wish could bring Annabel from the dead but won't happon but this Christmas is going be hard Christmas for me because second Christmas without Annabel and first Christmas without Sydnee and really missing then and wish there was back sit on my lap You know never gone back in snug how awful Sydnee was put down was see sleep on bookshelf with head drop of bookshelf and her body other side I have pick up Sydnee up try be brave sing going sleep deer Sydnee she was gone then mum told me she wasn't replace anymore cats because she can't have cats and dogs anymore too old.

I did want do secert santa helping uk children but could not active Aid and Compassionuk always asking for card payment not having mobie phone make impossible for me do shopping I don't going Stafford town any more just stayed in did Join Stafford 3UA but sadly ever time meeting was on Monday it was sametime as crouse up Lower Drayton Farm care in Penkridge with help me building the my confidence but hard going back as learner not as volunteer but who want half deaf, Coelic , and dyspraxia volunteer no one would ?
That why have join Dyspraxia foundation membership, Coelicuk, Lone Staffordshire Trefoil Guild, Staffordshire wildlife member , and Stafford 3 UA and Other membership too.
Trying do this for Stafford do something for hidding disabilities but that another story.
Now get back to christmas I enjoy Christmas eve church really enjoy it some of use family left some christmas shops on bus and left our christmas shops but after christmas day I tell you I was luck I was believe God was looking after me but now want is christmas wish sponsor another child want be Compassionuk but can't log on at making me feel frustrated so think sponsor another child with other charity I want more pets.
I want working with Animals in the farm but won't happon going travel around the world could do with hearing dog but don't think family would agree too.

Now that it's Autism Awareness Day, I'd like to go into detail about my own autism.
Starting with the fact that I've been autistic ever since I was a kid and it was one of the main reasons I struggled in 1st Grade on top of my ADHD and OCD. I kept failing my spelling tests, I cried nearly every time I'd get something or do something wrong, and I only got like one award for doing something worth getting an award for in that school compared to many other kids. Something as easy as 1st Grade ended up being one of the worst school years I've ever experienced because of it.
Because of this and more struggles I experienced in 3rd Grade such as falling behind many of my fellow students and being an extremely slow learner, I ended up going to a private school for neurodivergent kids in 4th Grade. And I definitely blended in there much better than public schools. Sure I still often struggled but it was so much less stressful and it had different ways of teaching that would appeal to autistic kids like me that made it easier to understand them.
I've been in that school all the way up to 8th Grade. And when I moved to Oregon, I ended up taking special classes in High School for neurodivergent students as well. They definitely helped me way more than many of the classes my sisters took. Hell I didn't even technically graduate. I just got a participation diploma next to the rest of the students who graduated. But hey the important thing is that I still got out of High School though right? Right haha.
And also because of this autism, I don't have a job either. I rely on Social Security to give me the money I need to pass by. Because if I took a job, I'd struggle bigtime compared to others and it was kind of what made me realize that I wouldn't stand a change in the animation industry no matter how much I wanted to be a Storyboard Artist at Blue Sky.
In spite of these struggles I went through though, I think there have been many perks to my autism as well. I feel that it made me very passionate about the things I love and ended up being a very big and positive part of my personality. I feel that it also made me more empathetic towards other fellow autistic/neurodivergent people. It genuinely feels great to befriend others who can relate and are on the spectrum too. Many of my friends are on it as well.
And the point is, even though there are lots of people like me who have special needs, we're all still valid. We're not dumb, broken, or anything of the sort because of it. We are human. And we will not stand for those who see our autism as harmful in any way. Never look down on yourself for being on the spectrum and having special needs. You are valid and you are loved and you are wonderful. Never doubt that. ❤️

4 April: Were/are you in special education? Regular school? Home schooled? A private school? Did it change over time? Did/do you like it?
Right, so I want to talk about "special education when you don't have ID" in this post.
I was mostly at private schools because special ed in my country is mostly for people with ID or with pronounced physical disabilities that make going to a regular school impossible. Some are for blind or deaf people without ID, but that's rare.
Special ed for autistics is aimed at those with ID. The only real-life friend I have has dyspraxia and CAS (and autism), so he's in special ed for physically disabled people while not having ID, and that's in fact beneficial for him. He's lucky that they adapt the curriculum in a way that he's motivated and "sufficiently pushed". That's one of the very few situations where "special education for people without ID" turns out fine in our country.
There's this problem that most special ed pupils without ID become so called "I-Kinder" - school kids who are disabled but have to try to find their way around in regular schools while having 1:1 aides and accommodations, etc. This is good for some, but hell on earth for most. But nobody cares about the latter. For some reason our government thinks that special ed has to be avoided at all costs. When it actually would be just right for so so many autistics.
So I was at a Montessori elementary school (I really liked that), and then from 5th grade on at a mixed private school "for people with a different learning style" because they thought that maybe giving me the possibility to learn "advanced niche subjects" would motivate me and the possibility to adapt the curriculum would prevent demanding too much of me.
As many of you know, that went well at first, but when rote learning wasn't enough to pass tests anymore and you actually had to understand things, I was absolutely lost and things got too complicated. Which is why I finished school earlier than most.
Many people at my school were gifted ADHDers, actually. Some were gifted but NT (as in quite smart but still NT). We all had in common that, according to our IQ, we could learn well, but that wasn't possible at regular public schools. Be it distractibility, unable to read walls of text, thinking too abstract and being 3 steps ahead all the time, being a visual learner, etc. You name it.
I think we all were great rote learners and "abstract thinkers", which is why I liked it up to 7th grade. But then I realised the difference between what held them back (bright but different learning style) and me (brain damage and slow processing).
I think special ed for people without ID can be good for physical disabilities or delays because sometimes school is combined with physical therapy, etc. And it can be good for blind and deaf people without ID because you learn important things to find your way around in a world that's mostly inaccessible to blind and deaf people.
But otherwise special ed really only is made for people with ID in my country, especially when it comes to autism. And why's that? Because for some reason our government thinks that those without ID need to try to go to a regular school at all costs 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Best of Friends
I enjoy being with my friends' company, especially when I feel at ease with them, even though I know we'll eventually part ways and attend different senior high schools, I genuinely enjoy my group of friends, especially when I feel at ease with them. When I was in junior high school, I actually had friends. At the time, we were intended to be a trio, but as 4 other students joined us, our trio grew to 7, so I now think of them as a circle. They think I'm just chill, but they don't realize that even when I'm upset, I'm still calm. My best pals are kind and it's natural on us that we all have bad sides. They are the kind of friends who will still accept you despite your financial situation.
It's great fun to be part of a group of people who are interested in academics, even if you're a slow learner, they'll be there to support you and help you when you fall short. Despite the fact that you struggle with your schoolwork a lot, it feels fantastic to always be laughing. I really made the most of the ten months we spent together in junior high school because I know how difficult it is to find friends like them. If I could go back in time to when we were in Grade 10, when we were both perfectly content to laugh, I think I would have done the same.
Although we did not attend senior high school together, I am grateful that I had friends like them during that time. Although I cannot say that they are the best friends I have ever had, they are certainly among the best. I am grateful that I had friends like them during my Grade 10 years. I might want to start making new acquaintances in senior high school at this point, but I still won't forget them. They are such a blessing in my life, and I can't let them go because I want my grade 11 buddies to be decent people. I sincerely miss them and all I want to do is see them, greet them, and talk to them.
