I don't usually repost videos but this video, this video made me think of Toji Fushiguro.
Warnings: Dad!Toji, little Megumi, established relationship, Girlfriend!Reader.
Disclaimer: The video is from SpiritWalker on YouTube, their shorts are pretty awesome, go look at them! The rest is just my overactive imagination
The evidence:
The Ideas:
Dad!Toji would definitely be like that, he can't actually see curses so he's not pretending not to see them.
Dad!Toji who asks Megumi what he see, how it looks like because it made him laugh how softly Megumi speaks in his state.
Dad!Toji who finds funny how Megumi stops in his tracks and suddenly hide behind him when he sees a particularly ugly/disgusting curse.
Dad!Toji who kills curses with a cursed pocket knife (you made that pocket knife for him)
Dad!Toji who gets scolded by you, his girlfriend and a sorcerer, for scaring Megumi.
Dad!Toji who has to ask you to explain curses and sorcerers to little Megumi because he doesn't like the topic
Dad!Toji who likes to run away from curses with Megumi but they are running to you so you can kill the curse and be the heroine of the moment. Oh! Megumi looks you with such admiration.
Dad!Toji who gets called to the school because "Megumi is drawing very, um, Disturbing things"
Dad!Toji who tells Megumi she must not draw curses... At the school.
Dad!Toji who finds out about Megumi draw you fighting curses.
Dad!Toji who enjoys seeing you holding Megumi in a protective way when you three get attacked by a curse stronger than usual.

I’ve been stuck in the urgent care waiting room for the past hour and I have nothing better to do so here’s a rant about how my most pathetic character became my most badass character for what is quite possibly the stupidest reason.
So I created this character named Cassidy and her deal is she has a power that is useless. She can reverse time, but that amount of time is taken off her life. I did this so she wouldn’t be too powerful and it became a huge part of her character because she hated her power and worked hard at everything else to make up for it. Still, she never used it.
I always planned to kill off a main character and I chose Cassidy because I thought she was the most deposable. I told myself years ago that I would never change my mind and had to go through with this.
So anyway I changed my mind. Why? Because I realized she had a lot of chemistry with another main character. It wasn’t even intentional—it just happened. The one thing in this world that kept Cassidy from dying was a ship.
Then I thought “if she doesn’t die then what do I do with her?” The answer was still let the antagonist nearly kill her, but out of revenge she finally accepts her power and uses it to sabotage her. She’s willing to shorten her own lifespan to get back at the antagonist and protect her friends.
This is so much more interesting right? I’m glad I realize the shipping potential because that tiny change improved this character so much.

The History of the World Begins in Ice
I’m delighted to announce that, in Summer 2024, Fairwood Press will be publishing a collection of stories and essays from the Spiritwalker (Cold Magic) universe, titled
THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD BEGINS IN ICE:
Stories and Essays from the World of Cold Magic.
That’s right! A collection of fiction and non fiction from and about my Afro-Celtic post-Roman icepunk adventure set in an alt-fantasy 19th century Earth alongside a perilous spirit world, and including Phoenician spies, well-dressed men, revolutionary-minded women, and of course lawyer dinosaurs.
The collection will be published in a trade paperback edition and an ebook edition. It will contain eleven stories and eleven essays, as well as an introduction by N.K. Jemisin.
Each story will have an illustration by a different artist. The collection will include “The Secret Journal of Beatrice Hassi Barahal” with all 28 of the original Julie Dillon illustrations, previously published only in a 300 copy chapbook edition. Here’s the narrator of the trilogy, Cat Barahal, as drawn by Julie Dillon.
Tumblr media
Nine of the eleven stories were previously published. The other two are being written specifically for this collection.
If there is enough interest, Fairwood Press will produce a limited edition deluxe hardcover edition with two extra color plates (by Julie Dillon), a fold out triptych (by Kelsey Liggett), and a chapbook insert of the infamous smut chapter, “Chapter 31.5,” from Cold Fire. I can’t promise exact figures (and recent cost of paper increases may mean my guess is way out of date) but likely in the $40-50 range for a book of about 100,000 words.
You can express interest here (comment below or reply via email) or by writing directly to Fairwood Press. If you are interested, please (if you can) write in as soon as possible since creating a deluxe edition will take additional work, monetary investment, and time (that we would be delighted to take on).
Pre-order information will come as soon as it is available.
I first started thinking in autumn 2018 about producing this collection with a Fall 2020 publication date to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the publication of Cold Magic. Events conspired against me at the time, by which I mean I didn’t have the energy or time to move forward with it.
So I am incredibly thrilled to work with Patrick Swenson and Fairwood Press to bring this long-dreamt-of project to life and share it with all of you Spiritwalker fans.

Tbh, I think a majority of the players would choose Ebyssian, if given the option, and that's why Blizzard doesn't have him in the running.

here are some of the substansial changes I’ve made while working on my second draft. I was a little lost while starting this draft so I hope this helps other writers who aren’t sure of changes that need to be made
changed a minor character’s name to better fit the story
scrapped the prologue and wrote a new one. then after further thought got rid of it altogether because not every story needs a prologue
added more details about what my mc is thinking
added more details about my worldbuilding—this includes more explanations of the magic system and the world’s history
fixed pacing by taking whole scenes out of crowded chapters and working them into other chapters
changed the locations of some scenes to give more uses to unique spaces I created and to better match the mood
gave a minor character something to do after forgetting about her a third of the way through the first draft
fixed two plotlines I forgot to resolve by tying them together so I only needed one solution
fixed a mary sue moment by making my mc’s action remain successful but result in lifelong consequences
rewrote a character introduction after realizing I wrote a similar introduction for a different character

I finished Witchmark! The beginning was a bit bumpy but by the first quarter I was fully invested and had to tear myself away to do silly things like the dishes and my job.
And that's the first book I've finished this year! Nice to start on a high note. I guess I'll have to read the next 2 to see how it turns out for Kingston.
Also, hilarious kudos for CL Polk for calling this the Kingston Cycle and making bicycles the main mode of transport.
Also also, if you liked Witchmark, you should try the Spiritwalker trilogy by Kate Elliott!
