Ch216 (p1); Guest room tally

This chapter has a bit of Vadis and Hall, but it's mostly about gossip and figuring out if the hotel has the rooms required for so many guests.

So, that's the tally.

Mr. Hall treats Mr. Vladis' wounds and asks that he refrain from acting like that again... in front of ordinary guests. Does that mean there's a part of the hotel where such violence is allowed??

I must say, even Mr. Hall is quite a mysterious person. How much does he know about what's really going on there?

Is Modri Vladis crying here, or is he just holding his head in his hands? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our earl and Sebastian try to figure out how many guest rooms are at the hotel versus how many guests are supposedly staying there.

Sebastian compares the resort to The Savoy Hotel & Restaurant, which had recently opened in London. (It actually did open that summer in the City of Westminster, London.) Yana-san probably looked up the old article from The Times.

They determine how many guest rooms would be needed for nobles and gentry, along with their children and servants, and it must be more than the hotel can hold.

The Langham, London opened in 1865, and I found some pics to compare to the image above, but I'll have to post them separately, due to the image limits.

Sebastian is to go around and count the actual number of guest rooms, and our earl is (by Sebastian's suggestion) to sit in the lounge and eavesdrop on gossip.

So, off Sebastian goes to count doors, and our earl is going to hear something that might prove quite important.

Lets set things straight:

If charlie and ben stayed together long enought for ben to have charlie go with him to get his wisdom teeth removed after he got them removed and was still under anastisia he would call charlie a bitch and a whore and flirt with all the nurses infront of him

When nick had charlie take him to get his wisdom teeth removed and was under anastisia he called charlie hot, asked him to marry him (repeatedly), called him a ''bossy chick'' after charlie tried to prevent him from take his bloodied gauze out, begged charlie for kisses, told charlie he was the pretiest person alive and gave charlie his pulled out teeth because he rememberd charlie likes anatomy and has a medical replica of a human skull in his room that's missing its wisdom teeth

Ch216 (p2); The gossips

Our earl takes a seat in the lounge, and while he's waiting on tea (and Sebastian), he overhears three ladies discussing the various attractions at the hotel, pier, pavilion, and surrounding areas.

The spa in the basement is what interests me most, since it's reminds me of the Mother 3 "Nice Person Hot Springs." How exactly does is rejuvenate the soul? Makes me wonder what happens to the souls of the children killed when they "fledge" out of F. O. L. Orphanage.

The Merry Ocean Pier, Royal Pavilion, and the skating rink/aquarium are also of interest, of course, but I don't really expect visitors to go missing there like they might at the hotel.

Sebastian returns with his count, which is way fewer guest rooms than they would need for so many people.

Even though they talk about checking the hotel register, we don't see them actually checking it. Perhaps they will do so later, but idk if anyone on the staff would let them; these staffers might not be quite as susceptible to the demon's charms....

Sebastian is right to wonder if the hotel sends the extra guests somewhere other than another hotel.

I wish our earl mentioned the spa in the hotel basement, because that's what I expect to be most important here, though something is likely to happen at one of the other attractions... or at least possibly.

He skips the tea, but he apparently does reclaim his hat and cloak before they head out.

Like the real pier this is based on, Merry Ocean Pier is a theme park or carnival built on top of a massive pier jutting into the English Channel.

Games, rides, carnival food, and... a play.
