SPRING-HEELED JACK

Spring-Heeled Jack was a Victorian ghost who spooked the streets of London between 1837-1904.

On 19 February 1838, a lady named Jane Alsop opened her front door to a man who claimed to be a police officer. He requested a candle because they said they had caught Spring-Heeled Jack in an alley. When she left her house, the man removed his cloak and she described him of having claws, red eyes, and he shot blue fire balls from his mouth and attacked her. Alsop's sister ran out to help her and Jack fled.

This was one of the more popular stories about him which was published in the Penny Dreadfuls.
