Last resort | Leslie Shay
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leslie Shay x Firefighter!Reader Reader pronouns used: she/her Summary: Chief Boden orders everyone to evacuate the building, will you follow his orders when you hear a baby crying? Masterlist | Chicago Fire masterlist | Words: 2.1K
It had been a quiet day at 51, you were playing cards with the rest of squad 3 when the alarms went off, signaling all units to move to an apartment fire. You jumped up and ran to the truck, kicking your shoes off and stepping into your boots. You pulled the pants up, the suspenders over your shoulders, and hopped in your seat. Squad was the first to pull out of the firehouse. Severide taps away on his tablet, “Okay, squad, listen up. The fire is fully evolved. We’ll be the first company on scene, let’s work quickly. When we’re on scene we have to move fast. Let’s wait on Bodens orders, y/l/n you’re with Cruz, Tony with Capp, and Mills you’re with me. Do you copy?” You all let him know that you copy him and mentally prepare for the call you’re about to have.
When you arrive at the scene you can immediately tell that it’s bad. “Alright, people, let’s go to work.” Boden says over the radio. “Truck 81,  primary search on the first floor, Squad 3 you take the second and third. Engine, I want a line on the first floor and raise the aerial in case it’s needed. Ambulance 61, set up triage. Let’s go, people.” You look to Kelly to hear which floor you have to go to. “Cruz, y/l/n, second floor. The rest with me to the third.”
Once arrived on the second floor, you and Cruz go door to door. The fire has already reached this floor too, so you have to kick in all the doors to check for people that might’ve passed out from the smoke. Cruz takes the north wall and you take the south of the massive hallway. You kick in another door and yell, “Fire department, call out.” Into the room. You hear a man call out, “Over here.” They hid in the bathroom. You help them stand up and walk them back to the stairwell. They seemed to be doing fine, so you urged them to walk down by themselves, making sure to tell them to get checked out at triage. When you walk back you see Cruz helped an elderly woman to the stairs as well. “Need a hand?” You ask. He shakes his hand, “No, keep going, I’ve got this one.” So, you do, door after door, you search the room. A lot of the apartments are empty already, people that weren’t home or that walked downstairs at the first sign of something wrong, you were glad there weren’t a lot of people because the smoke started to get thicker and the flames bigger. Cruz was already back kicking in doors as well, when you heard Boden’s voice over the radio. “Attention all units, five more minutes and then I want everybody out.” You look over at the many doors you have yet to check and speed up your pace.
It hadn’t even been five minutes yet when the next order came over the radio. “Attention all units, I’m calling it. Everybody out!” You hate leaving all these rooms unchecked, but you knew that Boden was right, the fire was strong. You followed Cruz towards the stairs when you heard a faint cry that stopped you in your tracks. When you heard it again, it sounded like a little kid. You had to make a decision, follow orders, or try to save the child. Against your better judgment you turn around and take off in the direction of the cries, leaving Cruz behind. The crying gets louder the further that you walk down the hallway, meaning that you are getting closer.
Cruz walks out the door and takes his mask off to take a deep breath. He sees the rest of 51  standing behind Boden, all looking in his direction. Boden is quick to speak up, “Cruz, where is y/l/n?” Cruz looks around thinking you were right behind him this whole time. “She was right behind me.” He says in disbelief, already putting his mask back on. “Cruz, stand down. I can’t let anyone back in.” He reaches for his radio. “Y/l/n, report. I want you out of this building, right now.” You hear his request on the radio, but ignore it as you’re kicking in the door that you hear the crying coming from. The fire has already made it through the ceiling of the living room, you crouch down making your way over to the crying. When you reach an open bedroom door you find the crying baby. He was lying in the arms of a woman laying on the floor. You quickly check for a pulse, you’re relieved when you feel a regular heartbeat, she must have passed out from all the smoke that was filling the room. “Y/l/n, report.” You hear over the radio again, worry now present in his voice. You don’t have time to respond as you hear a voice coming from underneath the bed. “Is mommy okay?” You look under and find a girl who can’t be more than three years old. Your heart sinks, how were you going to get all three of them out, with the fire getting stronger and stronger. Setting aside your worries, you pull her out from under the bed. “Mommy is okay, the smoke just made her really sleepy, that’s all.” You take the young girl by the hand and pick up the baby, to move them to the bathroom where you’d all have some more room to breathe. “I’m going to get your mommy now. I will be right back, I promise.” You sit down next to the mom, feeling her pulse once again. Still a steady heartbeat. You reach for your radio. “Chief.” You take a deep breath before speaking again. “Chief, is Leslie with you?” Chief Boden ushers Shay closer. “She’s standing next to me. What's going on?” Shay shares a worried look with him. “Leslie, baby, are you there?” You hear her respond with a shaky voice. “Yes, the line is open, you’re scaring me, what’s going on?” - “I love you so much, but I have to try. I just wanted to let you know that I love you, in case I..” She interrupts you, “Don’t say it, you come back to me okay. I love you, please come back to me.” It breaks your heart to hear her like this. “I’ll try my best, I promise.”
You grab the bedsheet and drag the mom towards the bathroom where you left the kids. Once inside you take off your mask. The little girl is crying, you take off your glove and wipe away the tears. “I know it’s scary, but I’m here to help. My name is y/n, what about you?” Between sobs she tells you that her name is Mila. “Okay, Mila, let’s get you all out of here.” You take off your oxygen tank and your coat, before you turn the water on in the bath, drowning the bedsheets. “Mila, honey, come here. I’m going to wrap this around you, okay? And then I want you to climb on my back.” The girl nods. You were trying to create some sort of carrier with the sheet that would hold both Mila and her little brother, so that your hands were free for their mom.” Once you had Mila attached to your back, you picked up the baby and wrapped him to your front. “I’m going to put my coat back over you okay, I want you to be very still and hold on to me, okay honey?” You button up the coat so that both the kids are safe from the fire. With the remaining part of the bedding you wrap up the mom’s body, making sure that she has some kind of protection from the flames before you pick her up and take one last breath of oxygen from your mask, since you had to leave it behind.
The fire had spread through more parts of the apartment, but there was no going back now. You went around as much fire as possible and jumped through the ones you couldn’t go around. To your surprise you made it to the stairs. You hold the mom close as you decent, quick but careful. The smoke was really starting to get to you, but you couldn’t stop, you made a promise to Mila and you intend on keeping it.
Outside the team was watching the building, hoping and praying that you would walk out of the door. They didn’t believe their eyes when they saw you exit the building, everyone running your way. Kelly takes the woman out of your arms and lays her down on the stretcher from one of the paramedics. You fall to your knees from coughing so much. Leslie sits down with you trying to calm down your breathing, while Cruz tries to help you up, but you push him off. Between coughs you manage to say, “The kids.” - “We can’t go back in, y/l/n. It’s too dangerous.” You shake your head and open your coat, revealing the improvised baby carrier. You shake off your coat to reveal a second child. Once your teammates take the kids from you to get checked out. Dawson is by your side with an oxygen mask, you eagerly put it over your face and take some deep breaths. “You scared me so much, please never do that again.” Leslie says hugging you tight.
Chief Boden steps your way. “You did good, y/l/n.” He says. “Get yourself checked out at the hospital, you took in a lot of smoke.” You nod in agreement. Dawson steps up to Boden, “Can Shay and I take her? I know Shay won’t want to leave her side right now.” Boden agrees to let them take you and will let dispatch know that ambulance 61 is out of order for the time being.
The doctors do some tests, they all go well and you are cleared to start duty right away. Dawson drives the ambulance back to the firehouse where your teammates gather as soon as they hear you pull up. You step out of the back with Leslie, as soon as they see you they’re all relieved to see you’re doing so well. “I’m all good, don’t worry guys.” You walk up to the Chief. “I got cleared for duty, Sir. I did have to leave some of my gear behind, though.” Boden nods, “We’ve got some spare tanks and masks, don’t worry about it. Glad to have you back.” Once Boden walks away you turn your attention back to the team, they all give you a hug or pat on the back. Luckily the rest of the day was slow, just a couple small calls, so you were able to catch your breath a bit more.
After a night of uninterrupted sleep, you join the team for breakfast. Mills cooked, and it was delicious as always. Boden ordered an inventory check on all the vehicles, so that’s where you headed next. You were crouched down checking equipment when you heard people walking outside. “Mommy, I see her!” You turn around at the familiar voice. Mila comes running up to you and jumps into your arms. “Hi Mila.” You hug her tight, seeing them here meant so much. Since another ambulance company treated them, you didn’t know how they were doing. Mila lets go after a while remembering something. “We made you cookies.” You smile at the little girl, you had only seen her scared on the scene, which made seeing her so cheerful now even more happy. She pulls you over to her mom who was talking with Leslie and Chief Boden. “Hi, I’m y/n, nice to meet you.” You say extending your hand. Instead of shaking your hand she goes in for a hug. “I’m sorry.” She says while stepping back. “Shaking your hand didn’t seem enough, you saved my life.” She looks down at her kids and adds, “Their lives. I owe you everything.” You smile at her, “No need to apologize, and of course, I was just doing my job.” The woman shakes her head, “Everyone that I have talked to has said that you went above and beyond for us. So, thank you. Thank you so much.” Hearing back from the people that you saved was so special. Knowing that you’re the reason they are able to stand right in front of you. “Do you have some time to stick around? I would love to show Mila the trucks, if she’d like.” Mila was already nodding her head enthusiastically, “Please, Mommy.”
Your girlfriend was watching you in awe as you posed for pictures with Mila on your lap behind the steering wheel of the Squad truck. While Chief Boden was proudly watching you interact with the family that you saved.

“You look happier.” You confessed, walking up to Kelly before taking a seat next to him at the bar. You knew that the music playing in the background was not loud enough to hide the sadness in your voice. He knew you like the back of his own hand, so you couldn't help but feel a little ashamed by the comment you just made.
"That's because I am." He flashed you a half smile. "I am happier." You couldn't say it didn't hurt you a bit when he confirmed that. You met his smile and stared at him for a while, rearranging the thoughts in your head. You wished it was you. You wished you were the girl that just walked out of the aisle with her arm looped around Kelly's.
"I'm happy for you. Really, I am." You nodded your head, gently squeezing his arm. "I am sorry that things didn't work out between us. But…seeing you here with that big smile on your face made my heart fill with joy. I always wanted you to be happy, Kelly. Even if that means I have to see you getting married to someone else."
Kelly stared at you for a while, not knowing what to say. He could see you were telling him the truth, you really were happy for him, but the look in your eyes told him something else. He could see right through you. You were hurting.
“I heard you’re leaving 51.” He changed the subject, taking a sip from his drink as he looked away. Deep down there was this odd feeling as if he was suddenly doubting the decision he made just an hour ago. He felt that if he kept looking into your eyes for too long he might regret getting married to the person that could've been you. Sometimes he looks at you and asks himself where did it all go wrong.
“Yeah, I'm leaving 51.” You quickly nodded your head, whipping off the tears that were forming in your eyes. “I need a fresh start, you know? I think spending some time away from Chicago might do some good.”
“Away from Chicago or away from me?” Kelly mumbled, his question felt more like a statement. Before you could answer, he shook his head and flashed you a smile. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. I think you should do whatever makes you feel better. If staying away from Chicago for a while is the solution, then go for it. I’ll be here for you when you come back.” He gently squeezed your shoulder as his own eyes started to water.
You nodded your head and pressed your lips together, holding back a sob. There was no point in holding back the tears, they were already running down your face as you quietly stood up and grabbed your purse.
Looking back at the party, you saw all of your friends smiling and having fun. Herrmann saw you standing there and quickly made his way toward you, noticing the fresh tears in your eyes. Without saying a word, he grabbed you by the hand and dragged you to the center of the room where all of your friends were drinking and dancing. Everyone from 51 was there, having the time of their life. They would hate you for not saying goodbye.

You know I complain a lot about the issues of BLEACH, because I view things from a critical lens. And because it's my special interest, I view it a lot, so I discover more and more things that bother me. But you know the one thing, the one thing above all else that should've changed? The most important and egregious error of Kubo's when writing BLEACH? It's quite simple, really. It's the fact that Rangiku didn't get to kick Gin in the balls before he died. It would've instantly improved the series tenfold, but Kubo is a coward.

day four - head injury
notes: welcome back for febwhump day four! Squad 3 has made it to the hospital but will they all be ok?
this storyline got away from me so enjoy part two and part three will be up tomorrow!
read on AO3 or below
The doctors in the emergency department at Gaffney Medical Center were waiting by the ambulance bay for the ambulances carrying the members of Squad 3 to arrive. They first heard about a car accident involving firefighters when Ambo 57 arrived with the delivery driver. At first, they assumed it was just another unfortunate weather-related accident but that all changed when the medical team learned the driver was drunk and caused the accident.
More and more information came out in the minutes that followed as the paramedics filled them in with what they knew. Goodwin also received a call from Boden at the scene, which gave the doctors more insight into what to expect. They were as prepped and ready as they could be to help their friends and fellow first responders, it was now just a waiting game for them to arrive.
Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, the sound of sirens could be heard closing in on the hospital. It was go time.
… … …
Stella followed Kelly’s gurney for as long as she could. She listened as Violet and Brett fired off their assessment and detailed their care of Kelly and the precautions taken during and after extraction.
Stella stayed as close to Kelly as she could, watching as the doctors and nurses began examining him until Maggie gently steered her out of the room with the promise to update when she could. Brett and Violet tried to get Stella to go to the waiting room, but she pivoted when she saw Cruz get rolled in, Capp and Tony walking in behind him.
“Hey,” Stella said, walking over to them. “How we doin’?”
Cruz’s arm was wrapped against his ribs and he had some butterfly bandages on some cuts on his face. Capp and Tony had similar bandages on their faces, some bigger bandages on their arms where the glass cut them, and Stella could see bruises already forming on all of them.
Cruz shrugged his good shoulder. “Pain meds have helped. How’s Severide?”
Stella shook her head. “Still unconscious. There’s definite head trauma, we just don’t know how bad yet.”
The uncertainty and fear in her voice was unmistakable. Stella Kidd was usually unflappable on calls and in the aftermath, even with the worst calls, but Kelly Severide was her kryptonite. When he was hurt or in danger, she struggled to maintain her cool.
“I’m sure he’ll be fine Lieutenant,” Tony spoke up. “Severide’s tough.”
“Yeah,” Stella said quietly. She threw Tony a small smile, knowing he was trying to soothe her nerves.
“Let the doctors check you out,” she said, directed to Capp and Tony. “We’ll be in the waiting room. Cruz, I’ll call Chloe and let her know what happened.”
“Thanks Stella.”
… … …
Stella, Brett, and Violet were waiting in the waiting room for almost an hour by the time Chloe joined them. It took her a while to find a babysitter for Javi and Otis so last minute but Stella had had kept her updated and reassured until she could get to the hospital.
The rest of 51 arrived shortly after Chloe, having finally gotten the scene cleared up. There wasn’t much of an update anyone could give them since none of the doctors had been out to speak with them yet. But it was only a few minutes later when Capp and Tony entered the waiting room.
Boden rose from his chair. “Capp, Tony, what’s the verdict?”
“No concussions, nothing broken, just bumps, bruises, and some stitches on some of the deeper cuts.” Tony answered.
“Won’t even have to miss a shift,” Capp added with a small smile.
“Glad to hear it,” Boden said genuinely. “With the Squad truck out of commission, Headquarters is working on an action plan moving forward until the truck can be replaced.”
Capp and Tony nodded and grabbed a chair with the others to wait for news on their teammates.
Dr. Ripley came out about 30 minutes later with an update on Cruz. They were going to keep him overnight to monitor his concussion and make sure his bruised ribs didn’t cause any complications with breathing. His dislocated shoulder had been reduced and was safely back in its socket and he’d need some PT to strengthen the ligaments that had been strained.
Cruz would be off work for a few weeks, but he’d make a full recovery. Dr. Archer took Chloe back into the ED to see Cruz before he was moved upstairs to a room.
With good news on three of the four members of Squad 3, the members of 51 settled back into the waiting room chairs to wait for news on Severide.
… … …
It was another hour before Dr. Archer and Dr. Abrams entered the waiting room with an update on Severide.
Dr. Archer looked at Stella. “Do you want to speak privately somewhere?”
Stella shook her head. Speaking privately usually meant bad news and Stella wouldn’t be able to handle that on her own. “We can talk here. They can hear whatever you have to say.”
“Alright, we’ll start from the bottom and work our way up. His right leg is swollen with deep bone bruising from where the metal had pinned him in the truck. X-rays show nothing’s broken, but we’ll take updated images when the swelling reduces. He has some concerning bruising on his abdomen and we’re keeping a close eye on any internal bleeding but so far, there’s nothing to be concerned with.” Dr. Archer started with the breakdown of Severide’s injuries. He saw everyone’s faces grow more concerned with each update he gave, and Dean was dreading telling them the more serious issues their friend was facing.
“A few of his ribs are broken but we’ve wrapped them and we’ll have one of our Respiratory Therapists work with him. His right humerus is broken as well. By some miracle, it’s a clean break and should heal perfectly without surgery. All spinal scans came back clear of any injury, but we’ll continue to take spinal precautions until he’s awake and we can run more tests.”
“He’s still unconscious?” Stella asked, her voice fearful. It’d been a while since she’d used her paramedic training but she knew Kelly being unconscious this long wasn’t a good sign.
Dr. Abrams stepped forward. “He is. He has a skull fracture just above his right temple. It’s linear, which is the best-case scenario, but it’s caused quite a bit of swelling and pressure. We’re monitoring his ICP closely and we have him on medication to help reduce the pressure and swelling. We’ll be moving him to the Neuro ICU for monitoring and we will be ready if more intervention is needed.”
“Intervention as in brain surgery?”
“Yes, if necessary. We’re hoping to avoid that, but should we need to intervene, we’re prepared to do so.” Dr. Abrams answered.
Stella was panicked at this point and everyone could see it. Brett grabbed onto her arm to comfort her and Boden walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Is he going to be okay?” Boden asked, his voice thick.
Dr. Abrams and Dr. Archer were quiet for a moment and shared a look. Neither of them wanted to break the news. “At this point,” Dr. Abrams started slowly. “It’s unclear. The bruising, the broken bones…they’ll all heal with time. Neurologically? Until he wakes up and we can do more testing, we won’t know.”
Stella was unable to hold the tears back any longer. She appreciated the doctors being straight with her but she hated what they were saying. Kelly would be okay. He had to be. “Can I see him?”
“He’s going to be taken down soon for updated scans and then he’ll be moved up to the Neuro ICU. Once he’s settled, you’ll be allowed to see him.” Dr. Archer confirmed. “It should take a few hours so I recommend going home, changing out of your turnouts, maybe grabbing some food before you come back here.”
Stella opened her mouth to say something, but Boden cut her off. “Thank you, Dr. Archer. You too Dr. Abrams.”
The doctors nodded. “When you get back just go straight up to the Neuro ICU waiting room. A nurse will take you back as soon as they can.” Dr. Abrams added before he and Dr. Archer returned to the ED.
Boden moved around to stand in front of Stella. “Stella, go home. Get changed, pack a bag, eat something. Then, you can come back here.”
“But Chief—”
“But nothing. I know you want to be here for Kelly but you need to take care of yourself too. It’s been a hard morning, take a minute to breathe and regroup.”
She didn’t like the idea of leaving the hospital without seeing Kelly, but Stella knew Boden was right. Kelly was going to need her, and she needed to be ready. She nodded, but a fresh round of tears filled her eyes.
Brett wrapped an arm around her shoulders. “Come on, I’ll take you home.”
… … …
Stella was back at the hospital after just an hour. She showered, packed a bag (including some of Kelly’s things in there), and scarfed down a quick lunch before heading back to the hospital.
Not surprisingly, she was the first one back at the hospital. Stella checked in with the nurse behind the desk on the Neuro ICU floor and Kelly was still not back from his scans. She tried to wait it out in the waiting room but her nerves were too bad to sit there by herself.
She texted Chloe for an update on Cruz and decided to visit them after Chloe sent her his room number. Cruz was looking significantly better, even after a few hours, and it was clear he was feeling better as well.
Stella was able to update him on Capp and Tony but when it came to updating him about Kelly, she faltered. The update Dr. Abrams and Dr. Archer had shared with her earlier still rang clear as day in her ears and she didn’t think she could get through repeating them without completely breaking down.
But Cruz idolized Kelly and was a good friend to them both. He deserved to know.
“Kelly is uh…he’s in bad shape.” Stella’s voice cracked. “The doctors don’t know what his outlook is. They won’t know until he wakes up and they can run more in-depth tests.”
“He’s still unconscious?”
Stella nodded.
“That’s not good, is it?”
“No, it’s not,” Stella shook her head and sniffled.”But they’re doing everything they can for him. They’re going to keep him in the Neuro ICU to monitor him and hopefully, once his body has some time to heal and the swelling goes down he’ll wake up.”
“Have you gotten to see him yet?”
“Not yet. They sent us home while they took him for more scans. Once he’s settled in his room we’ll be able to see him.”
Cruz nodded, then smiled to try and lighten the mood. “When you get to see him, tell them they had to cut up his beloved Squad jacket. That’ll wake him up.”
Stella laughed but her smile didn’t reach her eyes. “Yeah, I bet that’ll do it.”
She hung out with the Cruzes for a few more minutes before Brett texted her and informed her that Kelly was in his room and ready for visitors. Stella quickly said her goodbyes and hurried back to the Neuro ICU floor.
By the time Stella made it back to the floor, only Boden, Brett, Mouch, Violet, and Carver had made it back to the hospital. Once Stella joined them, the nurse escorted the group of six down the hall to Kelly’s room. It was the closest one to the nurse’s station, another insight into just how serious his condition was.
Boden and the others stayed outside while the nurse escorted Stella into the room.
They’d cleaned all the blood off of his face and stitched up the wound on his temple, just a few inches above the birthmark she loved so much. His right arm was splinted to keep the bone in place and she imagined he had similar wrapping on his ribs below the hospital gown.
The most unnerving thing was how still and quiet he was, and not in his usual brooding way.
“Dr. Abrams will be in later to go through the results of the scans, but the swelling in his leg has already started to go down. It looks like the meds are doing their job.” The nurse, Emily according to her name badge, said. She touched Stella’s shoulder in passing before she left the room. “Hang in there.”
Stella dropped her bag in the corner and moved to Kelly’s side, pulling up a chair. She grabbed Kelly’s hand and held on tight. “I love you, Kelly Severide. Come back to me. Please.”
Boden and the others lingered outside the ICU room, giving Stella a bit of privacy and time with Severide before they went in to see him. It couldn’t have been more than a few minutes….then suddenly Stella shot up from her chair, alarms started blaring, and Severide’s body began to shake as nurses ran in.
“Kelly!”

You were cooking dinner late at night in the kitchen when you heard the front door open. Your roommate entered the kitchen and went straight to the fridge, taking a bottle of water in his hands.
You could smell the alcohol from 5 feet away. Kelly had probably gotten drunk. Turning around, you confirmed your thoughts as soon as you saw the look on his face.
"You okay?" You quietly asked, walking over to the cabinet to grab a plate. "I thought you were sleeping at Stella's tonight."
After chugging the water down, he shook his head and stared at the empty bottle in his hands. "I broke up with her." He confessed in a low, quiet tone, letting show all the pain in his voice.
"What!? Why?" You quickly asked, confused, placing the plate on the counter and rushing to his side. "I thought you were doing okay…I don't understand."
Kelly slowly raised his head and flashed you a half smile. He blinked at you a few times, slightly shaking his head. He looked away and confessed, just above a whisper. "She's not you."
That statement caught you off guard. You thought Kelly had gotten over you. You thought he moved on and was happy with somebody else.
"...Kelly-"
"I'm gonna go take a shower and head to bed." He interrupted you, knowing damn well what you were about to say. "Good night." He placed a kiss on the top of your head before leaving the room.
All you could do was stare at his back till he disappeared out of the kitchen. You didn't know what to say or what to think. Your brain was having a hard time processing what just happened. Was Kelly still in love with you?
Well, what else could you expect when you start sharing an apartment with your ex-boyfriend.

Hello! From the "talk for hours about" meme, I'd love to hear some of your 3rd division thoughts! What's this about time capsules? (Or any other 3rd Div thing that's currently most interesting to you!)
Oh?! Thank you so much for asking!
To start; Bleach was the first show I'd chosen to watch on my own, and i watched it completely blind. Like, i didn't even know what anime was blind. I'd kill to go back and rewatch it the way I did at 10 lmfao
I guess to me the 3rd is like a childhood "time capsule" in the way that they helped me organize and place memories/feelings from those times. I started art, writing, cosplay, and fandom as a whole because of them.
I think I was drawn to them because I wanted someone to 'fix' me. They were 'scary' and 'rejects' like me. Headstrong and disciplined. They're still a source of comfort, my strength in adversity. The Third's ideals and sacrifices have stuck to me and guided me through life - as crazy as it sounds. They were the older figures I never had; cared when no one else knew how....
