Olive decided to put aside her (admittedly petty) grievances with her brother-in-law in an effort to appease Willow.

But as she went to sit beside him on the couch, she couldn’t help but feel a little... unwelcome. He didn’t greet her, nor did he tell her to stay away. He just sat there in silence, watching the TV.

Olive tried to do the same, but her eyes kept drifting to a particular fixture on the wall.

Olive: Doesn’t it get... exhausting? Creon, earnest: Huh? What do you mean? Olive, uncomfortably: ...Being watched all the time. Isn’t that tiring?

Creon: Well... no. The Eye helps keep us safe. Nothing bad will happen as long as the Watcher looks after us. Olive, muttering: Hm... if you say so. Creon: Did you say something? Olive: No. Well, nothing important. So... how, uh... how have you two been?

Creon: We’ve been doing great, all things considered.  Olive: So... no accidents or anything? No fires, or burglaries, or electrical incidents, or-- Creon: No! Not that I can remember, anyway. Why do you ask? Olive: I just want to know what you think. How can you be sure that your continued safety is a result of divine providence? Creon: Well, there haven’t been any accidents, or break-ins, or really anything that would cause alarm ever since we moved in and put it up. And as long as we have faith, I’m certain it’ll stay that way. Olive: Forgive me, but I can’t help but doubt that a fixture on your wall is enough to stave off misfortune. Creon: I suppose we’ll have to agree to disagree, then. We invited you over for dinner, not a debate - remember? Olive: ...Ah, you’re right. Where are my manners? I... apologize.

Olive may have been more than a little blunt, but her questioning was born solely out of concern. Regardless, she took his reaction to mean that she ought to drop the topic and put it out of her mind.

If only they knew who was truly keeping them safe.

A few days ago, I saw someone on reddit Talk about how historically accurate the American Girls' names were, and I wanted to do something similar but with the Sims' ones.

I'm going to do it with Strangetown's townies, because I believe that they speak spanish since the university's name is La Fiesta Tech (La Fiesta are spanish words). I'm going to do it based on data from Spain, my personal expirience and the years I think they were born.

Pascualín Curioso (Pascal Curious): Pascualín is a nickname for Pascual. He was born around 1975, his name was used around that year in Spain, although it wasn't popular enough and was starting to decrease in popularity (#188 in popularity at the start of the decade, slowly decreasing). Historical accuracy: 7/10.

Gumersindo Curioso (Vidcund Curious): It wasn't a popular name by the time I supose he was born (around the 80s), and from 1965 onward, It wasn't used. Historical accuracy: 3/10.

Lucas Curioso (Lazlo Curious): It wasn't popular around 1985, but in the next decade it started growing slowly. The average age is 15, so It isn't near Lazlo's one. Historical accuracy: 3.5/10.

Elena Pérez (Jenny Smith): It's peak was during 1970 and 1989, which it's between when I think she was born. I think it was used enough times to be in the #50 position more or less. Historical accuracy: 10/10.

Jaime Pérez (Johnny Smith): I am not sure if his name is Jaime or Santiago, as Jaime is a common nickname for that name. Since the year 1984 onwards, Jaime has been a popular name, the average age is 42 years. Historical accuracy: 8.5/10. Santiago, on the other hand, has been a more lineal name (in the graphic, it's shape os pretty regular). The average age is 49 years, which is a bit more than what I imagined, it's a possibility as well. Historical accuracy: 8/10.

Inés Pérez (Jill Smith): The average age is 35 years, which is accurate with the age Jill appears to be. By rank, it hasn't been lower than #38. It started to increase in popularity between 1990 and 2000, and it's peak was during the next decade, only 450 times less uses. Historical accuracy: 9.5/10.

Olvido Fantoche (Olive Specter): I don't know when she was born, since she has been able to escape the death, but I suppose it was between 1940 an 1960. It's peak was during the first mentioned decade. It is a really accurate name both historically and considering his background. Historical accuracy: 9/10.

Ofelia del Moho (Ophelia Nigmos): The average age is 67 years, and it has been decreasing in popularity since 1960 and 1970. By the time I suppose she was born, only 48 people had that name, but since that decade, it has been regular. Historical accuracy: 2/10.

Circe Panero (Circe Beaker): It isn't near popular. It's peak was in this last decade and the first times it was used, it was during the 80s. I suppose she's near Pascal's age, and there is no data. Historical accuracy: 0.5/10. I think that Circe wasn't born in ST, but I'm not sure, where she's from, so I'm gonna leave it like that untill I have better answers.

Tito Reclutas (Ripp Grunt)/Tito Curioso (Tycho Curious): Here I have the same problem as with Johnny: It is both a nickname and a name. I don't know what is it since the general's sons' names are weird. If it is their name, it isn't accurate, because it's peak was between the 50s and 70s. Historical accuracy: 2/10. If it is a nickname, it could be from names as Ernesto, Héctor, Roberto, Alberto, etc. All of them end Up with -to. The average peaks of names like that are between the 70s and mid 80s. They weren't popular enough during the decades they were born, but they weren't in not use either. Historical accuracy: 5.5/10.

Fofo Reclutas (Buck Grunt): It is just a nickname, of names such us Adalberto, Beto, Rodolfo. The peaks are the same as Ripp's one. By the time he was born, the names had suffered an important decrease or were used in less than 50 people. Historical accuracy: 3/10.

I think that I have covered all the names I could find. The names that don't appear is because they are used in less than 5 people.

Nervous Subject got an strange message from state, he inherited a house on the other side of the city, alleged to be from his biological mother. Ophelia was a bit angry to have to share a house with some unknow weird guy, so she quickly send a message do his boyfriend, Johnny, hoping for a place to stay.

Genetically Correct Clean Template Strangetown With Scripted Events - CC FREE

I’m back with another genetically correct hood! You can check out my GC version of Pleasantview with scripted events here - I also explain what genetically correct means there as well in case you aren’t sure :)

Today as part of my quest to make all Sims 2 hoods genetically correct, I bring you Strangetown!

General Information:

This is a genetically correct version of Strangetown. All sim appearances have been corrected so they now resemble their ancestors! This hood was built on top of clean templates, and no other changes have been made to the hood aside from the adjustments to the sim’s appearances and DNA!

Notice: I used a mod, equal genetics while creating these sims. I do not claim to be anything but a simpleton when it comes to genetics, and I know that some of these sims’ genetics aren’t realistic - Like a blond and brunette having a blond kid. I don’t claim to know anything about genetics, so before you genetic purists come at me just know - I know this and don’t care.

My general notion was that if one of their ancestors had a gene, then they could too.

Notes:

- This is CC FREE

- I used a default skin and eyes when taking the pictures. The sims will not come with these. I used Pitstop Skinblend and Poppet Clear Eyes

- All sims have been given recessive genetics - and I will say here and now they may not make actual sense scientifically speaking, once more - I don’t care about that. 98% of the sims - even the ancestors - have recessive genes. At the very end of the post you will find a chart of each sim and their recessive genes.

- Sims may get some wants or fears of their ancestors or dead relatives becoming zombies or resurrected, this is just because of the way I did this, their deaths are fresh in the playables minds.

- This hood was built on a clean template Strangetown, all ancestors and dead sims are safe to resurrect

- This was made with Ultimate Collection, so unfortunately you will need this or all packs for this to work.

- Pascal’s unborn baby will be genetically correct as well

- When you add the subhood version with townies, you’ll notice that the townie and NPC names get randomized and aren’t their original names. Though annoying, this is normal and you will have to rename them all yourself.

- The no townie version of ST STILL comes with Bella Goth, Crystal Vu, Abhijeet Cho and Meredith Lillard. 

- I used two different clean template versions for this hood. There may be slight differences depending on what the original creators of the clean templates did to the hood. See credits.

- Bella Goth is also genetically correct with her PV ancestors

- Some sims such as Ophelia Nigmos and Kristen Loste had no ancestors with the original hairs, skins and/or eyes they have in the BG hood. Because of this, I chose the next best hair/eyes/skins that I felt brought more genetic diversity to the hood and kept the original feel of the sim

Important notice about Scripted Events:

If you are having issues with the Scripted Events: FIRST - Navigate to your "Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (or The Sims 2)/Neighborhoods" and delete the NeighborhoodManager.package file within this folder. Reload your game. When you load the game back up it will automatically regenerate a new, fresh NeighborhoodManager.package file - See if this fixes the scripted event problem. For some reason it can break really easily and a majority of the time resetting this file will do the trick. HUGE thanks to Cindy from PleasantSims for suggesting this! All credit to her! SECOND - If the first suggestion doesn't work, you will need to redownload the hood, and BEFORE you run your game, take out all of your non essential mods (leave in mods like no unlink on delete, no townie regen, things that are essential) from your mods folder (just mods, cc is fine to stay in) and put it in a safe folder while you just play through the SE - then when they're done, put the mods back in. 99.9999% of the time either of these suggestions will fix the problem. If you try both and they don't work, let me know

* Patrizio Monty hair is black ⚫ in The Sims 2 (as you can see in the in-game storyline photos), but brown 🟤 in The Sims 3. I don't like this inconsistence in The Sims 3 even if TS3 is set A LOT before TS2 in terms of timeline. So, for me his natural hair color is black, NOT brown.

* Olive Specter had brown hair 🟤 as adult but both her parents are black heads. ⚫ People keep insisting that it's not possible, and in this case it's correct. Because she has no grandparents, so no ancestors from whom she could have inherited recessive genes. But only parents.

* Isabella Monty's hair is brown in both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde hair. If it wasn't an error by the developers, it would still make sense and it's possible that she could have blonde hair, as she could have inherited it as a recessive gene from her paternal grandmother Julia Pantalone or her maternal grandfather Lucio Zanni.

* Goneril Capp's hair is brown in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 but simPe says she has the genetic code for red hair. If it wasn't an error by the developers, it would still make sense and it's possible that she could have red hair, as she could have inherited it as a recessive gene from her paternal greatgrandmother Queen Thebe.

The curious fact is that Goneril already show a recessive gene. Both of her parents, Contessa and Consort, are blonde, but she show brown hair because she could possibly have inherited her maternal grandmother Scribonia Capp's brown hair. So, why change the recessive gene shown if the genetic codes still show that she has red hair? Mh, that's very strange!

* Kaylynn Langerak's hair is black in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde hair. In The Sims 2, Kaylynn is an NPC and doesn't have a family, so she can't have recessive genes and the only thing you would think is that she dyed her hair, but in The Sims 3 they justified this by giving her a family. Her father Dustin Langerak and her maternal aunt Zelda both have blonde hair, while her mother Iliana has black hair.

* Ophelia Nigmos' hair is naturally blonde on simPe too, but that's a mystery because NO ONE in her family tree has blonde hair.

* Miranda's hair is genetically "custom", meaning that the game does not read it as any natural color (which is also why you cannot change her eyebrows when changing her appearance in the mirror). But her eyebrows are blonde, which means she should be naturally blonde, like her father Albany, her maternal grandparents and half the Capps from her grandpa Consort family tree.

* Hermia Capp's hair is red as her father Caliban and her two siblings Tybalt and Juliette, but simPE says she has the genetic code for blonde. This is not an error. Hermia is naturally blonde since in Beta VV, she was the daughter of Regan and Cornwall and not Cordelia and Caliban. The developers decided to change her hair colors when they made her the daughter of Cordelia and Caliban and probably forgot to change her genetic hair color, but even so, if the player decides to make her blonde even now that she is the daughter of Cordelia and Caliban it would still make sense. Regan is one of Cordelia's sisters, and Cordelia is also blonde, and furthermore, Hermia could have inherited blonde hair from anyone in her family tree.

So yes, Hermia natural color is blonde in vanilla Veronaville, but red in fixed version of the Neighborhood like Meetme fixed template. I like to think she as a red head, so I put her with the red heads.

I did just a little work on the Megakingdom of Simland yesterday and today. I finished King Malcolm Landgraab IV’s castle--at least, it’s as finished as it’s gonna get before he acquires some more funds. I added a royal bedchamber, private bathroom, public bathroom, royal nursery, and a very sparse vault in the basement. There’s room for four more bedrooms on the second floor, and then there’s a whole third floor and a whole basement, so it will be some time before he NEEDS to move to a bigger castle.

I also gave the DeBateaus and the Goodies medieval makeovers, and started on the Newsons and building the church where the Goodies are going to raise the Newsons.

Duke Armand DeBateau of Belladonna Cove, looking much finer than I expected! Since his wife is... gone, he will need to marry in order to produce a proper heir, and the most likely prospects are Lady Natasha Una, cousin to the Duke of Desiderata Valley, or Lady Erin Beaker, sister to Lord Loki Beaker of Strangetown.

Lady Tara DeBateau of Belladonna Cove! She might end up marrying Lord Puck Summerdream of Veronaville; it will depend on whether she or Lady Ophelia Nigmos of Strangetown gets along better with him. 

Mother Superior Faith Goodie, of the Belladonna Cove church that I randomly named St. Simian’s. I hope to get a church in each subhood someday, but for now this is the only one.

Father Herbert Goodie. I’m not 100% on the tonsure, but it certainly screams monk.

Gavin Newson. Although he wears the garments the church provides, he hasn’t actually taken any vows yet. Most likely, he’ll pledge his service to a local lord as soon as he’s ready to age up, but we’ll see. 

Also note the awful trailer park and billboards and street I need to replace, ugh.

And Ginger Newson, same deal as her brother. Also, gotta say that this is my first time using good default replacement skins and eyes that I picked out to suit my taste, and they sure do make everyone nice and pretty!

Here’s a couple shots of my in-progress church. I might have to wait until they have collected some tithes to finish it, big lots are expensive to fill man. 

I need to raise the height limit in this subhood and top off the tower, put in a bunch of windows, furnish the interiors to be livable, and set up some gardens for the church to use to sustain itself and occasionally sell. Lower priority is adding lots of columns and decoration to the outside walls, sealing in the property behind a fence, putting a local cemetery in the back left and a public garden in the front left, and, well, anything else I think of. Right now, though, they only have $5000 left. I’m debating whether to just give them what they need to finish construction and call it a donation or something, or to play them at the tail end of the round and see how much they managed to collect from tithes. I guess the deciding factor will be whether they can afford sufficient beds, a bathroom, and a kitchen with the current funds... Although I do still need to move Jessica Peterson in (somehow), and perhaps her funds will help.
