Bones: Sometimes I do call my friends nicknames based on their talents and personalities, yeah. Chekov is L'venok, or "Little Lion" in Russian, 'cause the kid's way too brave. Sulu's Zorro, for obvious reasons. Spock I sometimes call Wise Guy because it works on two levels, and that irritates the hell out of him. Uhura's the U-niversal Translator. Scotty's Mr. Machines because he didn't like "Scotchy Scotch Scotch."

So like, imagine this, Cardassians with tail feathers? Like, they have small feathers on the top of the base of their tail which continues along the top of the tail, ending to an interesting display of tailfeathers? For some cardassians, the tip feathers are long and colourful while for some it can be short and stubby, that sort of thing. It would make for more expressive tails imo.

that does sound neat! I have seen fanart that gives Cardassians feathers instead of hair on their heads, and I think it’s a cool idea. Feathered dinosaur vibes are always good! But my personal favorite look for tailed Cardassians is giving them a weird little hair tuft on the end, like this:

i love that bones' nickname is bones, it's such a hardcore nickname reminds me of black cat calling peter "spider" n especially for a doctor and then his actual name is fucking leonard. id want a nickname too.

I think we all like calling Leonard McCoy Bones so much that we sometimes forget it's Kirk's nickname for him and no one else seems to regularly use it

He caught in the corner of his eye a brief flash of color and realized someone was with the Subu guards. He heard a woman’s voice, “With all these laborers I’m surprised the price for your silmanite is so high.”

Reigning in his shock, Chakotay allowed his eyes to flicker upward. Kathryn Janeway was walking next to the commandant, old Whale Head himself. She was dressed in a kind of robe of blue and purple, with heavy earrings dangling from her lobes, and ornate rings on several fingers. To Chakotay, she looked like a goddess.

Whale Head turned to her, “Not all may work. Only the trusted ones.”

Suddenly Kathryn came to a stop, looking directly at Chakotay, and pointed. “Who are those people?”

“I don’t know what they call themselves. They were discovered invading one of our small planets. Undoubtedly they’re mercenaries working for the Ry.”

Kathryn’s eyes narrowed and she walked closer to Chakotay. “They’re human, or at least some of them are. I’ve run into them before, they’re mercenaries, alright. They attacked my holdings on Grivus and killed members of my family.” 

Her hand exploded across Chakotay’s cheek. He touched his face and felt dampness, and saw that his fingers were red with blood. One of her rings had ripped his skin. “Commandant, I would hate to think these wicked beings could escape to kill others.”

“No danger. Many security measures.” The small entourage moved back toward the wall from which they had emerged.

Harry wondered aloud, “What was that all about? Why did she hit you?”

Chakotay put pressure on the cut on his cheek. “She’s in disguise for some reason. Probably to see if we’re here and what our situation is. I guess she hit me to put on a good show.”
