The warm afternoon sun cast long shadows over the rolling hills of Stardew Valley, bathing the town in a golden glow. At the local arcade in the heart of the valley, Sam leaned against the counter, absently twirling a drumstick between his fingers. The arcade was alive with the sounds of electronic beeps and the clatter of buttons being pressed. Still, Sam’s attention was focused on the animated conversation between his friends, Abigail and Sebastian.
"...and then, she just took down those slimes like it was nothing!" Abigail exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement as she leaned towards Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Yeah, the new farmer is pretty impressive," he agreed, taking a sip of his soda. "She’s been making quite a name for herself."
Sam’s curiosity was piqued. He had heard bits and pieces about the new farmer, but this was the first time he had seen Abigail so animated about anyone other than herself. "Who are you guys talking about?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"The new farmer, of course!" Abigail said, her eyes sparkling. "She moved into the old farmhouse and has been venturing into the mines. She’s fearless, Sam. You should meet her."
Sebastian nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she’s pretty cool. I think you’d like her."
Sam made a mental note to keep an eye out for this mysterious newcomer. If she had impressed both Abigail and Sebastian, she had to be something special. He imagined what she might be like, picturing someone strong and determined, a fresh face in their sleepy town. The thought made him smile, a new spark of excitement igniting within him.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
A few days later, Sam was practicing his skateboard tricks near the town square. The wheels of his board clattered against the pavement as he attempted a particularly tricky maneuver, the warm breeze ruffling his hair. Just as he was about to land it, he caught sight of someone walking by—a lean figure with a confident stride that made his heart skip a beat.
The farmer.
Her presence was magnetic, drawing his eyes to her despite his best efforts to concentrate on his trick. As she walked, her movements were fluid and assured, exuding a quiet strength that left him breathless. She wore practical clothes—jeans and a sturdy jacket, with dirt smudged on her cheeks from a day’s work—but she held herself with such poise that she looked radiant.
Distracted, Sam stumbled and fell, landing in an ungraceful heap on the ground. His skateboard rolled away, coming to a stop a few feet from him.
The farmer laughed—a bright, melodic sound that made Sam’s cheeks flush. She walked over and offered him a hand. "You okay?" she asked, her smile warm and genuine.
"Y-yeah, I’m fine," Sam stammered, accepting her help. He got to his feet, brushing off his jeans. "Thanks. I’m Sam, by the way."
"Nice to meet you, Sam. I’m the new farmer," she replied, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Be careful with those tricks, okay? See you around." With a final smile, she continued on her way, leaving Sam staring after her, his heart pounding in his chest.
As she walked away, he found himself replaying the moment over and over in his mind. Her laughter, her smile, the way she had effortlessly lifted him up. He knew, without a doubt, that he wanted to see her again.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
It wasn’t long before Sam found himself in the Stardrop Saloon with Sebastian, Abigail, and the farmer. The dimly lit saloon was filled with the hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses. The four friends gathered around the pool table, the air thick with friendly competition and the smell of Gus' home-brewed beer.
Sam leaned over the table, trying to line up his shot. As usual, he was struggling to keep up with Sebastian’s skillful plays. The balls clacked against each other, Sebastian effortlessly sinking one after another. Sam sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
"Don’t worry, Sam," the farmer said with a wink, stepping up to the table. "I’ll help you out." She took the cue from his hands, her movements confident and precise as she lined up her shot. Her eyes narrowed in concentration, and she took a deep breath before striking the cue ball with a smooth, controlled stroke.
To everyone’s surprise, she managed to beat Sebastian in a close game. Abigail cheered, pumping her fist in the air. "You go, girl!" she shouted, her enthusiasm infectious.
Sebastian gave an approving nod, his expression unreadable but clearly impressed. "Nice job," he said coolly. "Didn’t think anyone could beat me."
The farmer grinned, handing the cue back to Sam. "Thanks, but it was a team effort," she said, glancing at Sam with a smile that made his heart flutter. He could feel the warmth of her hand as she passed the cue to him, a small but significant gesture that made him feel connected to her.
Sam couldn’t help but feel a surge of admiration for her. She was not only skilled but also humble and kind. He found himself looking forward to their next game, eager to spend more time in her company and learn more about her. The evening continued with laughter and camaraderie, and Sam felt a growing sense of belonging that he hadn’t felt in a long time.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
Later that week, Sam found himself sitting in Sebastian’s dimly lit basement, strumming his guitar absently. The room was filled with the faint scent of cigarette smoke, and the low hum of Sebastian’s computer added to the relaxed atmosphere. Posters of their favorite bands adorned the walls, and the soft glow of fairy lights created a cozy ambiance.
"I’ve got a confession," Sam began hesitantly, breaking the comfortable silence. "I think I have feelings for the farmer."
Sebastian barely glanced up from his screen, his fingers tapping away at the keyboard. "Yeah, I noticed. You’re not exactly subtle."
Sam groaned, setting his guitar aside and leaning back against the couch. "What should I do?"
"Just tell her," Sebastian replied with a shrug, his eyes still fixed on his computer. "Or don’t. It’s your call. But if you keep moping around like this, you’re going to drive me crazy."
Before Sam could respond, there was a knock at the door. Sebastian smirked, finally turning to look at Sam. "Speaking of which, I invited her over. Forgot to tell you."
Sam’s heart raced as the farmer entered, her presence filling the small space. She greeted Sebastian casually and settled in, her relaxed nature putting everyone at ease. Sam, meanwhile, felt like his heart might burst from his chest as he tried to join in the conversation without making a fool of himself.
"Hey, Sam," she said, turning her attention to him with a smile. "How’s the band coming along?"
"Uh, good! We’re working on some new songs," he managed to reply, his voice steadier than he felt. The three of them spent the evening talking and laughing, the farmer’s presence a constant source of warmth and comfort for Sam. She shared stories about her farm, her struggles and triumphs, and Sam found himself hanging on every word.
Sebastian watched the interaction with a knowing smile, occasionally chiming in with his own dry humor. The atmosphere was relaxed, and Sam felt a growing sense of camaraderie. By the end of the night, he was more determined than ever to tell the farmer how he felt.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
As the weeks passed, Sam found himself thinking more and more about the farmer. He admired her confidence, her kindness, and the way she seemed to brighten every room she entered. He wanted to tell her how he felt, but every time he tried, his nerves got the better of him.
One evening, as he was sitting on the porch of his house, strumming his guitar and watching the sun set, he looked up to see the farmer walking towards him. She smiled and waved, and he felt his heart leap.
"Hey, Sam," she said, her voice casual. "I’ve been thinking... Would you like to go on a date sometime?"
Sam blinked, taken aback. "You mean, with me?"
She laughed softly, her eyes sparkling in the fading light. "Yes, with you. I think you’re cute."
Sam’s face lit up with a grin. "Yeah, I’d love that."
They sat on the porch for a while, discussing their favorite spots in the valley and sharing stories about their childhoods. The conversation flowed easily, and Sam felt a connection growing stronger with every word.
As they made plans for their first date, Sam couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. He had found someone who shared his interests and made him feel more alive than ever before. The anticipation of their date filled him with excitement and nervousness, but most of all, hope.
When the farmer finally stood to leave, she turned back and gave Sam a lingering smile. "I’m looking forward to our date, Sam. Good night."
"Good night," he replied, his voice soft. As she walked away, he watched her until she disappeared, his heart soaring. He knew this was just the beginning of something wonderful, and he couldn’t wait to see where it would lead.

Swimming with the Jellies
Sebastian (Stardew Valley) x Reader
Tumblr media
It was your first year in Pelican Town, and Lewis had invited you to the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies festival. When you asked the other villagers about the event, many expressed their love for the tranquil night of celebrating the jellyfish migration. However, Sam's eyes twinkled with mischief, and he told you this would be one to remember.
You had pushed this from the front of your mind and had almost forgotten as you walked onto the beach. You greet villagers as you pass by, heading down to the far end of the pier to find Sam, Abigail, and Sebastian. Waving hello to the trio of friends, you move next to Sebastian and give him a little smile.
Ever since you moved to the Valley, you have been absolutely smitten with the frog and fantasy-loving programmer. Unfortunately, you could not gain his trust enough to have him as a dance partner at the Flower Dance, but you understood his hesitation. Nonetheless, you continued to crush on him, giving him gifts at least once a week.
"Hey Sebastian, here's an earth crystal I found in the mines."
"Hey! I accidentally brewed an extra cup of coffee this morning, here you go."
"Sebastian! I heard you were working on something important, so I brought you a sashimi. Make sure you take a break to eat!"
You only hoped he didn't think your gifts were overbearing, but he didn't reject them and seemed genuinely grateful, making you hopeful. Still, you weren't going to push him, taking it slow as Abigail informed you that Sebastian didn't exactly have a lot of experience.
Before you can speak to the man, Sam waves you over to the other side of the pier. Walking over, you see the same twinkle as earlier and become a little wary of what the skateboarder is scheming.
"What if I push Sebastian into the water?" Sam whispers.
"Considering jellyfish are about to come near the pier, and who knows if they're deadly, that might not be a good idea." You respond, crinkling your eyebrows at the thought of Sebastian being stung.
Tumblr media
He reassures you, but you can't help feeling unsure. You raise an eyebrow at him, and Sam holds up his hands in a surrender gesture.
Returning to Sebastian, you sit on the edge of the pier, ensuring your feet don't touch the water. He follows suit, making himself comfortable, resting his hands by his sides. You glance to your left and see his fingers almost touching yours. With your heartbeat thundering in your ears, you take a deep breath and turn to him.
Your attempt at starting a conversation gets cut short abruptly as you watch Sebastian go flying into the water, Sam's hands pushing him right off the edge.
Chaos follows as people start shouting, and the mixed voices of Abigail, Robin, and Jodi chastising Sam.
Clearly, they have Sam covered, so you focus on Sebastian, who just popped up from beneath the water. Based on his numerous rejections to swimming this Summer, you can only imagine that he gained his swimming skills when catching frogs.
You shake your head to clear your mind of these curiosities and immediately grab the pier's edge with one hand, extending your other to the man. He tightly grasps around your wrist, and you can see the surprise on his face as you haul him back to the safety of the wood. Now soaking wet, he ruffles his hair to remove the clinging water, and you can tell he's forcing down the shivers.
He insists that he's fine, pushing aside everyone's worried comments. Abigail takes a quick glance at you, and it's clear that she has something on her mind. You only hope it's not as dangerous as Sam's plan.
"How about Y/n takes him home, so he can warm up." She suggests.
Before anyone can respond, you chime in with an "I'd be happy to, Haley can show me pictures tomorrow."
Although she doesn't exactly understand your liking of the isolated man, Haley gives you a little wink and ushers you two from the pier. You don't see it, but she and Abigail share a little low-five as they settle next to each other. Perhaps this is the start of a beautiful friendship...
Nonetheless, you and Sebastian make your way to his home in the Mountains. Still, he's suppressing the shivers, but the way he rubs his hands against his arms tells you all you need to know.
Getting to his home, you both descend the stairs to his room, a new place for you. See, you've been working on building his trust for you, but you've never been invited into his room. Of course, you wish it was in different circumstances, but you'll take the win.
"Um, I'll grab a warm drink while you change." You say, turning on your heel to go back up the stairs. Sebastian hums his agreement, and you continue on your quest, finding some apple cider that you quickly heat up.
Bringing two mugs carefully downstairs, you push open the door to find Sebastian's shirtless back turned your way. He looks over, hearing the door creak, and notices your slightly wide-eyed look.
He clears his throat as a blush coats his pale skin before he speaks, "Whatcha got there?"
"I found some apple cider that I warmed up, I hope that's alright." You say, handing him a mug as you avert your gaze, "sorry for walking in unannounced."
"Meh, it's alright," He replies, taking a sip of the drink, "thanks for the cider."
"Of course, I guess I'll leave you to it." You begin to walk backwards towards the door.
"Hey," He says, walking up to you and bending down a little to catch your eyes, "you can stay if you want. Everyone else is going to be at the festival, and I could use your company after my brush with death."
You laugh at his dramatics, making eye contact with him again, trying not to draw out how your eyes travel up his chest first.
"Plus, you made a cup for yourself... unless they're both for me." He hands you the other mug and you mentally smack your forehead for forgetting that.
"Yeah, that's a good point."
You two sit on the couch in his room, warming up as you sip from the apple cider. The silence is comfortable, something that's a little hard to find in the busy Valley. Looking over, Sebastian starts to doze off, sinking further into the cushions.
Quietly, you take the cup from his hands and set it on his desk. As you go to get up, Sebastian's fingers gently grasp wrist again.
"Sorry, didn't mean to fall asleep." He mumbles, rubbing his eyes with his other hand.
"It's no problem, you've had a chaotic night. I was just going to grab a blanket." You respond, to which he nods his head.
Grabbing the blanket from his bed, you wrap it around him as he curls up further on the couch.
"You can stay," he says with a raspy voice, "I'm awake."
He very clearly was not staying awake much longer, but you don't mind. Taking your seat beside him again, you feel his arm sling over you as he covers you with the blanket as well.
You expect him to move his arm, but Sebastian seems content with where it is as you feel more of his body weight lean against you. Being very aware that the sleepy man is likely not thinking straight and his chest is still quite bare, you can't help the blush on your cheeks.
Not wanting to disturb him, you shift slightly to get more comfortable and hug your arms lightly around his body on top of the blanket. Listening to Sebastian's content breathing and feeling the warmth from his renewed body heat slowly lulls you into sleep.
Neither of you hears the front door swing open or Robin descending the stairs and opening the door to check on her son, meaning you miss the soft smile that graces her lips.

What if the Stardew bachelors/ettes marry the farmer out of guilt / obligation for everything they’ve done for them and the town.
AND THEN FARMER FOUNDS OUT THEY DON'T ACTUALLY LOVE THEM💔💔
a/n: THE WAY I ACTUALLY STARTED SAYING “NOOO NOOO” D:
warning: gaslighting
★ what’s done in the dark always comes back into the light — sdv bachelor/ettes x farmer ★
You held the letter in a death grip, the delicate paper threatening to tear in half from the force. Tears swelled up in your eyes, as you reread the letter for a third time.
Farmer (Y/N),
I first must apologize for keeping this a secret for so long and that I’m telling you the truth in a cowardly manner.
A few days before your wedding, your spouse confided in me about their true feelings regarding you two’s relationship.
Your spouse informed me that they were marrying out of obligation for all of the work you’ve contributed to Pelican Town over the many seasons.
I regret each day that I didn’t stop your wedding and allowed you to enter a matrimonial relationship under false pretenses.
Please do what you must with this information, I will support you, regardless of your choice.
Signed,
Your Closest Ally
You wiped away your tears and stormed off through the halls and rooms of the farmhouse until you found your spouse in their private room. Without a second thought, you slammed the letter in front of them and yelled, “What the hell is this?!”
Your spouse reacts as so…
They pretend not to know what you’re talking about, despite the anonymous writer being correct; they then manage to convince you that the letter is false and most likely done by a bitter bachelor or bachelorette who wants ruin your relationship with them.
haley. maru. sebastian. shane.
They break down crying and confess that it was true, that they only married you out of guilt for everything you did to make the town a better place. You tell them that they have to do move out by the end of the week and they agree to do so without a complaint.
abigail. alex. penny. sam.
They hang their head in shame and confirm that the letter was telling the truth, they married out of obligation. However, they deliver a heartfelt apology and explain that over the seasons of marriage, they did fall in love with you and want to start over/make it up to you.
elliott. emily. harvey. leah.

Better Days - Shane x Reader
CW: SFW, GN reader, Comfort, Slight Angst(?)
Note: It's about time I dip my toes into Stardew Valley! I love this game the absolute most ^^ My personal wifey is Emily but Shane was my first ever husband. This is kind of a dating alternative to what we get in game.
Tumblr media
The bar is just about your favorite place to go. Not for the booze or the well cooked food, but for the nights that the town gathered for a good time. It's nearing the end of your first year here and already you're the social butterfly farmer of the town. You've even got a secret handshake with Sebastian, Abigail, and Sam! Alex is your tussling buddy on days that you've gotten most things done, and Emily? Well, she's just about your best friend here. That... Wasn't your choice. The others were pretty fine with you too, all except for Shane.
"Ah, don't mind him. He's always a grump!" Sam nudges you gently, trying to get your eyes off of the man drinking alone. "Everyone says that around here... Has anyone even invited him to a game of pool? Or even cards?" You look between the young adults that all shared worried and cringed gazes. "(Y/N)..." Abigail starts, but Sebastian continues for her. "Shane is about the most depressing man in Pelican Town. Every time anyone tries to talk to him, he'll shove them right off and keep going about his life. If you want to invite him for something, go right ahead. We'll be here for when he rejects your friendship."
Despite his words and teasing smirk, you puff your chest right out and share a hopeful smile of your own. "You know what? I'll talk to him! And he'll be so blown away by my charm, he'll BEG to hang out with me more!" With that, you turn your back to the group. Sam gives Sebastian a glare, "That's mean of you Sebastian. You know he's going to break their heart..." Sebastian shrugs, "Hey, if they want to find out, they're free to."
Shane's behavior wasn't unknown to you. You'd stop him sometimes on his walk to work and say hi, just for him to simmer in anger that you'd pause his walk. Though, every passing day, his anger towards your hellos lessened. Didn't completely stop the dissatisfaction but at least he isn't fuming every day.
"Shane! Buddy! What are you doing alone on a Friday night?" You beam your brightest smile, but the man's side eye quickly dashes your mood. "Drinking. Like I always do. Now what do you want?" He huffs softly, you adjusting the collar of your shirt. "I was wondering if you'd join me and my friends for-" "No."
"But... You didn't..." "I said no. I don't do 'friends' or hangouts. You think your friends would really like some drunk bastard joining them just to ruin the mood?" Your once bright smile quickly fades into an unsure expression. Honestly, you look like a kicked puppy. "Get back to your group and don't talk to me while I'm here. I'm no excited dog like you, farmer."
When you make your little defeated saunter to your friends, you mostly expect them to laugh at your attempt to reach out to Shane. But they had been listening in, with Sam pulling you into a comforting hug. "Like I said, don't mind that guy. You're a wonderful person! Come on, how about a game?" Abigail perks up, "We could try Blackjack!" Sebastian quickly cuts in, "Are you kidding? (Y/N) ALWAYS wins! They're the GOD of gambling, Abby."
The rest of your time spent at the saloon was trying to get your mind off that negative interaction. And yet, you couldn't stop thinking about him. You and your friends were first to leave, but you did stick around for a nightly walk. Perusing the rivers around with an awestruck beauty. It isn't long until you find a little isolated dock, where you sit and look down into the waters. Footsteps alert you to someone nearby, with a hefty sigh pairing with the sound of someone sitting next to you.
"Did your friends leave for the night?" Shane's voice sounds a lot more careful in tone. "Yeah, they all have their own things to do the rest of the night. The farm doesn't have much for me to do now that winter is approaching, so I'm watching the fish." To your response, Shane nods his head thoughtfully and takes a sip of his bottle. "Hm. Your pet doesn't even need you tonight?"
You chuckle a little, "They're probably fast asleep in my bed. Dirtying up the sheets!" Shane doesn't really take to laughing but does smile faintly. "Beats sleeping alone." While he drinks some more out of his bottle, you look on with a little worry. "Hm? Did you want a sip?" "Oh no, I've had more than enough to drink tonight. It's just... What you said."
"...Sleeping alone?"
"Yeah. You don't sound happy about that..."
"I'm... Okay with it." He tries to shrug off your worry, but your gentle hand comes to hold onto his shoulder. "Okay doesn't mean happy."
His eyes roll back into his head, but he doesn't even make a move to remove your hand from his shoulder. "I know it doesn't. But why should I make myself happy? I live, I work, and I get by. What more is there to life? Okay is better than in trouble."
You scoot in closer and try to look into his wavering eyes, "What about the fresh flowers of spring? The silver scales of fish in the water? Something's got to make you happy."
"What about them, huh? The flowers would be okay if I wasn't here. The fish would probably rejoice. The sun will still rise and- god, no one in this town would care!" His eyes prickle with tears, one hand gripping his hair, "The only possible people who would probably bat an eye are Marnie and Jas- But what, it would take a month to forget me? Two? I would have added nothing to this-"
The warmth from your tight embrace stops his rambling. The only other feeling he can really note is the dampening of his shirt as you bury your face in it. "Uhm... (Y/N)...?" Shane doesn't try to pull you off, instead wrapping a hesitant arm around you. "Shane..."
You pull yourself back, trying to wipe the tears from your eyes. "You are loved so much more than just by Marnie and Jas... There's so much that would change if the only time we spend with you is at your funeral! The only time I spend with you! Even if it's just stopping by to say hello, I still appreciate every positive feeling I get with you..." He shakes his head slightly yet doesn't let go. "(Y/N), I know what you're going to say, but you're not going to convince me of anything. I know this place wouldn't care if I lived or-"
A hand to his mouth quickly shuts him down, "Stop that! Please...! I have lost too many friends already because they thought no one loved them..." Those pools of tears in your eyes strike him right in the heart. "I don't care about any flaws you see in yourself. The drinking, the attitude- you're not unlikeable just because of that. I love being around you..."
A careful rough hand slips your hand from his mouth. "How can you say that when I've been nothing but mean to you?"
"Because I care for you, whether you like to think that or not! I want to make your days better... I want you to finally put that fear of people aside and join my friends in games- even if it's just a try. I want to see you stop and smell the flowers on your way to work and- and-" His hands reach your wrists, pulling them down to ground you from your rant.
"That's... A lot of feelings, farmer. I don't exactly think hanging out with your pals or some games will help-" His now soft gaze looks into your worried one, "But, I... I think I could try for you. At least, try to have some better days. I..." He tries to choke down his sentimental rant, but the words keep coming. "I'd hate to make you cry. Out of everyone in this town... You're about the only one I hate seeing so miserable."
With a little laugh, you sniffle and keep wiping the moist tears from your face. "What about the others?" "I'd like to keep Marnie and Jas happy at least. Though, Lewis could probably use a few tears..." You playfully shove Shane for his comment while bursting with laughter. "That's so mean! Lewis is okay!" "That's what you think, farmer. I don't know what ANYONE sees in him..."
The starry night was spent with more teasing and a much lighter conversation. Only ending when your tired yawning led him to walk you all the way back to the farm. Now that Shane has his own friend... He could see his future holds better days.

"Under My Umbrella" Sebastian X Y/N (AFAB)
Tumblr media
hey yall so this is out of the ordinary (sorry tf2 fans) but I wanted to write a little fic for my beloved cousin @nerdiifan ! I love her very much and this is a tribute to her (and mine) fav stardew character <33 I would really love to branch out and create more fics about other fandoms so pls tell me if you'd love more.
Around 9:30 in the evening, the rain stopped pouring down from the sky. As a result, Y/N's crops were left covered in a layer of dew, and the soil was left damp. Slowly opening the door, she couldn't resist the urge to gaze outside and appreciate the stunning beauty of the moon. Its bright and radiant light illuminated the surroundings, creating a peaceful ambiance that was soothing to the soul. It was a moment worth cherishing. With each step she took, the floorboards creaked. She stepped her foot onto the dirt, her shoes sinking in slightly. As Y/N strolled through the town, the gentle hum of the street lamp and the rhythmic "sploosh" of her feet splashing through puddles provided an audible company to her walk. She soon found herself walking over to the dock, Y/N had always loved it for the peaceful sounds of the waves, she knew it was the best way to experience a full moon. Walking into the entrance of the beach she smelled something, the scent of nicotine. "Someone else is out here at this time...?" pondering to herself for a moment.
As she strolled along the sandy shore, her attention was abruptly drawn to a distant figure. Her eyes adjusted to find a familiar man smoking, his face being shown by the glow of his cigarette.
Sebastian.
Her heart fluttered, her stomach was in knots and nervousness took hold of her. Y/N had always prayed for this day to come but she never thought her prayers would be answered. Anxiety struck caused by thoughts of embarrassing herself or being obnoxious.
"This is your chance, Y/N! You've been waiting for this day ever since he introduced himself. You can't back out now, you just can't!" She felt sick. "You can do this, Y/N! Don't be afraid to take a chance!" "He probably won't mind either way." "It's not a big deal, just go for it!" As she approached him, her mind stated a firm rule. "Don't. Screw. It. Up."
Y/N was behind Sebastian's shoulder "H-Hi Sebastian." With her face turning red, she asked, "Why are you out here so late?" Sebastian remained silent for a few seconds before asking, "Why are you out so late?" puffing the smoke from his cigarette and looking over at her. Y/N was taken aback. "W-well. Uhm...I always enjoyed this type of weather and the moon is full. I wanted to enjoy it before I couldn't." Sebastian's face broke into a small grin, the kind that appears when you're appreciating something.
"Nice." Y/N broke into a smile. They both faced the sky and listened to the waves crash against the dock.
"But you didn't answer my question," Y/N said. "Why are you here?" Sebastian maintained his silence, taking the final draw from his cigarette before putting it out and crushing it beneath his foot on the ground. "Smoke break." He said softly. "Mom doesn't like the smell and she doesn't want it in the house." "But why so late?"
"I like the weather. Makes everyone disappear." Y/N stayed quiet. Although he provided an answer, she remained dissatisfied and longed for deeper engagement with him. She had an intense craving to genuinely understand him. "Disappear? So you're..more reserved to yourself?" "You can say that, I guess. I just don't like the engagement." Before Y/N could respond he continued his rant "Needless conversations, repetitive talk it's all numbing.. that's why I spend most of my time with only Sam and Abigail. Everyone can just be so..overwhelming." She faced Sebastian "I understand that. That's why I spend so much time alone on my farm." Sebastian's demeanor warmed up as he felt a connection with Y/N. His facial expression softened and his eyes looked at her empathetically. "We must have a lot in common."
Y/N felt accomplished. Finally, the conversation is moved beyond just small talk. "Well..I would love to know more sometime. If that's okay..you know with the 'Don't like engagement' thing." As Sebastian gazed at her, he let out a gentle chuckle. "there can be exceptions."
As Y/N opened her mouth to speak, a drop of water rolled down her cheek followed by several others, dripping onto her hair. She gazed up at the dark, thundering clouds above. As the rain began to pour heavily, Y/N couldn't help but feel anxious. "Oh no," she uttered, placing her hands on her head. "It's probably best that I head back home."
And then...It stopped. Although the rain didn't continue to pour onto her she still heard it surround her. She opened her eyes and looked back at Sebastian who was holding an umbrella over the both of them. His smile was sweet and his eyes reassured comfort and safety. The way he looked at her was comforting, like a cozy blanket shielding her from the cold.
"I can walk you back."

Sebastian (Stardew Valley) x Male!Reader - Sebastian worries about his farmer husband who was mining a little too much
[Y/N] was the first guy that Sebastian has done... well, anything with. Dates, falling in love, marrying -- He once had a crush on Abigail and thought that would've been it. But when the new farmer came along and really made the town's economy boom? Well, Sebastian would've had no idea that this handsome stranger would quickly take an interest in him and get closer to him, so much so that Sebastian fell.
And boy, did he fall hard.
It started with the little things: the farmer approaching him as Sebastian had a smoke, coming to his room with gifts that he mined and coming to him covered in burns and cuts. Sebastian of course would express concern for him in the latter scenario but the farmer would just shrug him off.
It wasn't until he looked weakened in front of Sebastian after coming up from the mines, looking as if he were about to pass out. [Y/N] would stumble over his feet, dropping his bag to the ground as he fell against the fridge with a groan. Sebastian had checked on him once he heard all the ruckus, having been working on coding until the other would come home.
"[Y/N]?" Sebastian would call out to his husband as he walked over.
"Y-yea? I'm.. I'm here." [Y/N] would stutter out his response, his heavy breathing being also heard by the other. Sebastian halts once his eyes were able to land on the sight of [Y/N], his eyes going wide, rushing over before [Y/N] could fall over to the floor, letting him fall against his chest.
"[Y/N]... What the hell happened?" Sebastian's tone held concern, turning on the light as he held [Y/N] against him. His breath hitches. He looks even worse with the light on him. [Y/N] winces at the light, having a migraine before closing his eyes and burying his face against Sebastian's neck. "Do I need to take you to Harvey?!"
[Y/N] would try to wave off the concern, not moving away from Sebastian as he checked his wounds. "I'm... fine. Really. I should probably jussstt... resst.. that's all." His words would slur and Sebastian's frown deepened, pressing his lips to [Y/N]'s forehead to feel his temperature.
He was hot. He was definitely overheated. He must have really overworked himself to the bone. He said he was fine... But he was bleeding, his skin felt too warm, and... he was now shivering in Sebastian's hold.
"You're not fine." Sebastian would grumble before carefully lifting [Y/N], carrying him to the bathroom and grabbing a first aid kit, patching up his wounds before having him take a cool bath to help cool his skin down. [Y/N] eventually passed out as Sebastian carefully washed him, batting away [Y/N]'s hands anytime he offered to wash himself, clearly not being in the state to properly take care of himself. He carried him back to their bed, kissing his forehead and holding him close.
[Y/N] wakes up with a lingering headache, pressing his hand to his head only to find a bandage wrapping wrapped around his head. And many other places were wrapped and covered in bandages as well. He winces when he tries to move, his body aching as he reaches for his bag, zipping it open to pull out some of the things he found that he knew Sebastian loved. He groans softly at the pain, setting the items on his lap before Sebastian walks in, a cup in one hand and a pain bottle in the other. His expression to the farmer seemed more nonchalant, yet it held a vibe that made [Y/N] want to look away in shame.
"So I uh," [Y/N] would start, holding up the items that he mined for his husband. "I got you these. Not sure if we have any room to put them tho-" Sebastian slowly takes the items from his hands after setting the cup and bottle on the nightstand, not giving them a second glance before immediately turning to his husband. [Y/N] gulps, a little nervous at how little Sebastian reacted to the items he normally loved. "Sebas-" Sebastian cups [Y/N]'s cheeks with both hands before leaning in to kiss his lips, shutting him up. His kiss was so tender, as if afraid to hurt his husband.
When their lips part, Sebastian leans his forehead against the farmer's, stroking his thumb along his jawline. "You scared the shit out of me. Don't... ever... do that again."
[Y/N] sighs, feeling guilty as Sebastian stared into his eyes, his hands coming up to wrap around Sebastian's forearm. "I didn't mean to get... caught up. I saw the opportunity and so I took it."
Sebastian squeezes his face before pulling him in for a slightly rougher kiss before pecking his lips a few more times. "You're not going back in there for a while.. I won't let you."
"But I-!"
Sebastian shuts [Y/N] up with another kiss, not wanting to hear any protests from him.
"I don't know what I would've done if I... if you..." Sebastian trails off, his eyebrows furrowed and his jaw clenching at the terrible thought.
Ah. That really did it for [Y/N], seeing Sebastian fight back tears. His hands come up to cup Sebastian's cheeks before pulling him in for another kiss, feeling Sebastian's arms slip around his waist as he kisses back until they're almost breathless.
"I'm sorry, my love." [Y/N] whispers, wrapping his arms around Sebastian's shoulders and pulling him in to lean on his chest. "I won't... be so reckless again."
"Good." Is all Sebastian says, burying his face in his husband's neck.

Flufftober Day 23 - POV Outsider
@flufftober
Fandom: Stardew Valley
Pairing: Sebastian x Reader
Word Count: 890
Reader Pronouns: She/Her
Warnings: Cursing
This is one chapter of an entire linear story! It can be read separately but is better when read as a whole. Enjoy!
❤❤❤❤❤♡♡♡
With winter slowly fading into spring, the young adult quartet of Pelican Town has started spending more time outside. Instead of crowding into Sebastian’s basement or making a ruckus in the side room of the saloon, now they can be found outside by the river, or down on the pier.
Today, the group is in the cindersap forest, as the trees provide a large amount of shade for the ever-warming sun. While Sebastian and (Y/N) are below one of the trees, leaning against the trunk, Abigail and Sam are a little further off, lying on the bank next to the pier in the forest lake.
Abigail is on her back, pointing out clouds to Sam that could be interpreted as random shapes. He sits next to her, his guitar propped against his knees, plucking at the strings absentmindedly while he listens
It’s when Abigail spots a heart-shaped cloud that she sits up, shifting closer to Sam and nudging him with her shoulder.
“Love is in the air,” she quips, pointing up at the cloud while unable to suppress the grin from finding humour in her own joke. Sam’s eyes trail up to the sky, and when he spots the cloud, his mouth quirks up into a smile.
“Symbolic,” he says. When Abby gives him a confused look, he tilts his head backwards in the direction of Sebastian and (Y/N), leaning against a large oak tree. (Y/N) seems to be mock-offended at something Sebastian said, so she shoves him on the shoulder playfully, cackling with laughter when Sebastian shoves her back.
“I should have guessed.” Abigail chuckles a little as she continues to watch the pair, who seem completely ignorant to anything outside of each other. “You sense the same thing I do, right?”
Sam deadpans a look at Abigail, causing her to giggle. “How could I not? Do you realize how much they flirt? The only ones who don’t know about their feelings for each other are themselves!” Right on cue, (Y/N) says something inaudible, and a dusting of a blush appears on Sebastian’s face, which he tries to hide behind a laugh.
“How long do you think it’ll take them to figure it out?” asks Abigail, rolling over so she’s lying on her stomach, kicking her feet into the air behind her. “My bet’s on never.”
Sam shakes his head. “They,re stupid, but they’re not that stupid,” he says. He thinks for a moment, then adds, “...actually, maybe they are. But perhaps we can… give them a little nudge?”
Abigail’s eyes flash and her mouth stretches into a grin. “What did you have in mind?”
Before Sam can say anything else, (Y/N) and Sebastian stand up from their spots under the tree and walk over to the dock stretching out over the lake. The two of them sit at the end with their legs dangling out over the water.
Sam and Abigail look at each other. No words exchanged. They both know what to do.
Nonchalantly, Sam stands, stretches, then starts to make his way over to the dock, whistling to himself as he goes. He’s halfway down and neither Sebastian nor (Y/N) have noticed him yet.
It only takes a few more seconds before he reaches them, and he kneels down behind them, a little too close to (Y/N) for it to be natural. With a small, “Hey guys, what’cha doing?” he leans over hard, his shoulder makes contact with (Y/N), and she tumbles into the water.
Sebastian screams “Sam, you dumbass!” right as Sam starts stammering apologies, but with a quick look back at Abigail, the slightest smile is present on his face. Sebastian looks down at the water, where (Y/N) has yet to resurface, and without even hesitating, he strips off his hoodie, then his shirt, and dives in after her.
They’re both under the surface for ten, maybe fifteen seconds, before the water stirs and the two of them burst through it, gasping for air. (Y/N) starts to stammer, “M-My leg got caught on something at the bottom…” but Sebastian shushes her and together they make their way to shore.
Sam starts to apologize again once they make it to dry land, but (Y/N) quickly dismisses it, saying, “It was an accident, don’t worry!” Sebastian seems a little more reluctant to let it go, but seeing (Y/N) so unbothered seems to calm him a little bit. They use Sebastian’s shirt to pat off their wet skin, then drape it over a tree limb to dry in the sun. His hoodie he gives to (Y/N), and together, they return to the base of the tree they had been sitting next to before. Sebastian shirtless, (Y/N) wearing his hoodie, and both of them sitting much closer than they had been before.
Sam returns to Abigail, who discreetly gives a fistbump as they observe their friends. They’re so close together that their shoulders are touching, and they keep fussing over each other, making sure that the other is alright. There’s definitely some bonding happening.
Sam and Abigail just go back to conversing about what happened. It may have not been the best method they could have picked, but their plan clearly worked. Now to keep it up until their friends finally realize their feelings for themselves…

Creep | Sebastian SDV x OC
Sebastian is 100% a pervert stalker in this. I personally hate writing y/n so I made an OC. This is my first post on here so idrk what I'm doing. I'm probably gonna do a part 2 or make this into a little story. Idk we'll see.
Warnings: stalking, pervert behavior, masturbating, mentions of smoking, maybe that's it??
Word count: 1.5k
Sebastian is a creep. He understands that what he's doing is wrong, but he just can't help it. He can't help himself, especially when the new farmer is so young and pretty.
Tumblr media
~•~•~•~•~
When Sebastian found out that a new farmer was moving to Stardew Valley, he wasn't expecting much. He thought it would be another old man. But when a pretty brunette walked up to introduce herself one Friday night at the saloon, he was taken aback. She was shorter than him by almost a foot, with freckles adorning her adorable face. She introduced herself as Bee. She was definitely not what he was expecting.
That wasn't a bad thing, though! But Sebastian knew he had to keep his distance. He knew that if he got close to the new farmer he'd want her, in more ways than one. So he ignored her.
This didn't go over well... Bee stopped him anytime she saw him. Every single time, he couldn't stop himself from raking his eyes over her body, taking in her curves and the soft details of her face. He wouldn't even listen to what she was saying half the time, he'd be too distracted by the way her lips moved when she spoke, the way she stepped closer to him when she became too enthusiastic about her new farm, how delicious she smelt when the wind wafted her scent towards him...
God, he needs to stop. Even thinking about her now, in the comfort of his room, has him reeling. He wants to see her, to talk to her. His programming can wait.
It's late, almost midnight according to the clock displayed at the bottom of his computer screen. Despite this, he gets up and throws on a hoodie. He tiptoes up the stairs, scared that his mom or Demetrius might catch him. Or even worse, Maru.
Perfect little Maru has become friends with her. Of course she has, she has to please everyone. Sebastian scoffs at the idea of them hanging out, jealousy fueling his urges to see Bee. He wants to be friends with her, he really does. He's just so scared that his creepy intentions will come to light and she'd be scared off. This thought obviously doesn't occur now, as he's walking through the mountain trail and down towards her house.
He takes in his surroundings, he hasn't been to this farm since she's moved in. There's a chicken coop and a silo at the far side of the farm, and a small area is sectioned off for her crops. He admires all the hard work that she's put into this farm. He remembers how overgrown it was before, thinking about the times that him, Abigail and Sam would roam the abandoned field and have smoke seshes in the empty house.
Sebastian can't believe he's doing this. Reality sets in and he quietly laughs at himself. He almost turns around to go home. Almost.
He quietly walked up the steps of the farm house, cringing at the creaks from the old floorboards. He almost went for the door, hand hovering above the doorknob, but he hesitated. She might wake up if he wriggles the knob. He pulls his hand back and steps towards her window. It was cracked open.
Sebastian smirked to himself, slightly pushing the window up. It surprisingly didn't make a noise, sliding up with ease. He glanced up through his eyelashes, pushing his hair out of his face. She's still asleep. He carefully climbed through the window, holding his breath as he kept his eyes on you. He was half expecting her to open her eyes, but she didn't.
He noticed an orange cat sleeping at the end of the bed and smiled, refraining himself from petting it. The cat was quickly forgotten when Bee made a noise, turning over and facing him. Her eyes didn't open, it seemed like she was still fast asleep.
Sebastian noticed the very, very thin slip dress she was wearing and sucked in a sharp breath. He eyed the way her chest rose and fell with each breath she took, noticing how her nipples were perked up from the slight chill in the spring air. He wanted so badly to reach out and touch her, to fondle her tits and pinch her nipples, to put them in his mouth and suck on them until she begged him to stop, to give her more.
Sebastian is a creep. He understands that what he's doing is wrong, but he just can't help it. He can't help himself, especially when the new farmer is so young and pretty.
Sebastian let out a quiet, barely audible moan. His eyes wandered lower, to her stomach, then down to her thighs. They looked so soft. He brought his hand down to his crotch and palmed his hardening cock over his jeans. His knees almost buckled at the sensation. He closed his eyes, imagining it was Bee that was touching his there. His breathing became shallow as he imagined what she tasted like. What her mouth tasted like, her skin, her sweet pussy.
He froze when she moved again, opening his eyes to see her turning around. Her back faced him now, the blanket that was covering her fell onto the ground. Sebastian eyed her ass, the slip rode up, showing her bare ass cheeks and pink lace panties. He almost came in his pants from the sight alone.
He knew he was being a pervert. He knew that he'd be too embarrassed to ever face Bee again. But he couldn't help himself in the moment.
Sebastian quietly unbutton and unzipped his jeans and pulled his aching cock out. He groaned as he began stroking it, keeping his eyes on Bee's ass and imagining what it would look like if he was fucking her from behind. God, he wished he was right now. Maybe if he actually talked to her then he could convince her to have sex with him.
He bucked his hips into his hand and brought his free hand up to brush his hair out of his face. He wished that she was facing him so he could get a good look at her tits. He wished that she didn't have anything clothes on at all. He wished that he could rip that little piece of clothing off her body so he could see every inch of her, every curve, every scar, every beauty mark.
He thought about her sucking him off. He thought about fucking her mouth as he fisted his cock, whimpering at the thought of her trying to take his entire length down her throat. he imagined her pretty face as tears ran down her cheeks as she bobbed her head up and down his shaft. God, he would kill to have her pretty mouth on his dick.
Sebastian felt his stomach drop when she groaned. He shot his eyes open and stared at her, expecting to be caught. He waited for what felt like ages, but she didn't move or make any other sounds. He debated leaving, he didn't want to get caught being in her house. But he also didn't want to leave with blue balls.
He continued stroking his cock, hurrying up his pace to cum as quickly as possible and get out of there. Despite his anxieties, the idea of being caught by her turned him on even more. He imagined what she would do if she caught him. Would she be weirded out and yell at him, or does she have the same feelings that he has for her? Does she want him to fuck her as much as he wants to?
Sebastian imagined how you would look riding his dick. How your tits would bounce with every movement. The way your pretty face would look trying to adjust to his size. He felt himself getting closer to his release as he imagined how your pussy would feel squeezing his cock. He let out a low moan as he suddenly came in his hands, imagining it was Bee's pussy he was cumming in. He let out shuddering breaths as he continued stroking his cock, bringing himself down from his high.
When his euphoria finally wore off, Sebastian became embarrassed by his actions. He stared at his cum covered hands and sighed, putting his now soft cock back into his jeans and wiping his cum on them. He definitely won't be able to talk to Bee the next day, or maybe the rest of the week, and he's going to have a hard time when she tries to talk to him. He won't be able to think of anything but how perverted he is.
Sebastian made his way to her window, climbing back through it and shuffling away from the farm house. He wanted to get as far away as possible. He didn't want to think about what he did, he had to go home and go to sleep. Maybe that would fix his jumbled brain, sleeping it off.
When he finally made it back to his room, he immediately took his jeans and hoodie off, throwing the stained clothing into his dirty clothes bin and flopping onto his bed. He closed his eyes, only seeing images of Bee when he did. He groaned, he felt like there was no escape from her.
It was going to be difficult with her around...

tomorrow ; abigail
a/n ; i headcannon that seb plays the piano at the saloon on friday & weekend nights :] this was supposed to be short & sweet not a therapy session😭😭 gender ; neutral word count ; 2,006
Tumblr media
she was tapping her toes to the piano that sebastian played, and while her eyes seemed to be trained on his nimble fingers dancing across the monochrome keys, abigail's eyes were focused on your glimmering eyes behind him. you seemed to be so enticed by the way her friend played the piano, and she wished she could make you feel that way with the melodies she whistled into her flute or the beat she created on her drums. it was simple: abigail was jealous. she wished you looked at her like that, with awe and wonder shining in your beautiful eyes and words of praise tumbling from your plump lips. she wished your gorgeous smile was directed at her, not sebastian, and she wished that she could be the one to have your attention, not him. abigail tried to pull herself out of her thoughts, but even as she stared at sam failing miserably at pool, she couldn't help but stew—wasn't she enough? were her talents not as spectacular, and just how much did she need to step it up in order for you to notice her? so caught up was she in her own thoughts, that abigail didn't realize you were steadily approaching her, and it took several calls of her name in order to get her to notice you. when she did, she was shocked. you? talking to her? since when? sure, you were acquaintances; you started up light conversation with her whenever you visited her dad's store to purchase seeds, and would bring her back things from the mines that you found. but she had always seen it as an obligation rather than the pure desire to do so; if you weren't friends with his daughter, pierre might not let you buy his goods anymore. so when you approached her at the saloon, she was confused. "h-hi," she stuttered, staring up at you from her place on the couch. "hi," you replied, a smile sweeter than honey on your lovely face. "what are you doing sitting over here all alone on a lovely friday night like this, hm?" you inquired, taking a seat beside her—close, but not uncomfortably so. "i'm just watching." abigail tried to play it off as if she wasn't staring at you with longing, she wasn't wishing she could be a part of the lively chatter, she wasn't wishing that you would at least glance over at her and smile that dazzling smile and wave that cute little wave, but her wish was coming true—wait, she wasn't wishing, so nothing was coming true. wait, now she had herself confused. but you were here now, and you were talking to her, and that was all that mattered. "sebastian sure does play piano good," you said, looking over at the brunette in question. "y-yeah, he sure does!" why do you have to talk about him all the time, why can't you talk about me, talk about me, mention me for once, please please please— "do you play any instruments?" finally. "uh, yeah, actually! i play the flute and the drums," abigail exclaimed with a smile, looking over at you, only to find you gazing at her with a look in your eyes. she couldn't quite place what it was. "oh, really? i know that sam plays guitar, but i didn't know you were a part of their little band, too!" "heh, yeah, i usually play the drums, but it's fun to play the flute! my mom gets annoyed with it sometimes, though." i'm rambling, stop talking abby, stop talking stop talking you're gonna mess everything up— you snorted and replied, "moms, am i right?" she chuckled and nodded, and for a moment, the conversation died down. "my mom sends me cookies sometimes and mentions me when i'm in the paper, but other than that, she doesn't really talk to me that much. i mean, i get that there's not much way of communicating out here in the middle of nowhere, but she could at least ask how i'm doing or something, y'know?" abigail wanted to nod to show she was listening, but she could only sit there and watch as you rambled, your eyes looking over the occupants of pelican town. you never talked about your previous life and what your parents were like, even though you knew a majority of the townsfolk'. "sorry for dumping all that on you, you probably didn't wanna hear
that," you said after a moment of silence. "no—! i-i'm sorry, i was listening to what you said, i really was, i just forgot to respond!" well, that sounded lame. "that's no excuse—" she fumbled, "b-but i really do get what you're saying!" the red of her cheeks contrasted nicely against the purple of her hair, you thought. "my mom doesn't like that i dyed my hair and she doesn't agree with a lot of my decisions, even though i'm technically an adult now," abigail spoke, watching her green-haired mother get twirled around by her father. "you still live in her house," you pointed out, but not rudely. it was moreso an observation. "yeah, but that doesn't mean she still has a say over whether i go to the mines or not," abigail retaliated. you simply hummed in consideration. "i guess she's just worried about you, y'know? the mines are a pretty dangerous place, and neither of your parents really want you getting hurt." "i guess, but i can fend for myself! they don't need to worry about me anymore!" "they don't—i've seen that you know your way with a sword. i still think you should consider it from their point of view, though. i mean, think about it: their only daughter has grown up, hasn't moved out yet, and hangs out at the graveyard at night and dyes her hair purple. they don't want to lose you, abigail." she stopped bouncing her leg at the emotion in your voice, and turned to look at you. your eyes were still facing the townsfolk and your legs were still crossed, but there was something about the way your voice caught slightly at the end. maybe you spoke from experience, or maybe you were just an emotion person, but the way that you froze said it all. "yeah," she mumbled, although it didn't seem enough. sam's ass was still getting beat by pam, who had swung by to "show the kid how it was done", sebastian was still playing the piano, and abigail's parents were still dancing, but even with all of the lively chatter in the back, the silence between the two of you felt so . . . awkward. she couldn't help but stare at you though—sure, she did it all the time when your eyebrows were furrowed all cutely as you were counting the packs of seeds that her father handed you, but there was something about the way the warm glow of the light framed your face, something about the piano in the back, something about the space between the two of you . . . and all of a sudden, abigail realized that space was too large. it seemed that you did too, because you rose and stood in front of her, your hand outstretched, two words dancing on your lips: "wanna dance?" that was all abigail needed to grab your hand and haul herself to her feet. you guided her away from the couches to where you were standing a few feet away from the arcade machines, putting your hand on her hip and lacing the fingers on your other hand with hers. her arm naturally went up behind your neck, resting on the nape, and her hand grasping yours squeezed tightly. you were looking directly into her eyes with nothing less than adoration, love, longing. the girl before you felt so inelegant as she stumbled to keep up with you, but you didn't laugh or berate her with annoyance—instead, you smiled gently and softly corrected her feet and told her where to go. "one, two, three, one, two, three," you counted, and she was suddenly aware of how close she was to you. you suddenly moved your hand from its uncomfortable place on her hip (sometimes, she wished you were less polite—she wanted to feel your arm around her waist) and moved it to circle around her middle, pressing her up against your chest. "you look so pretty tonight, abby," you mumbled, staring at her lips with longing in your eyes. her cheeks flushed with the nickname that all of her friends called her, but there was something about the way it rolled off of your lips that made her shiver. "as do you, [name]." abigail felt as though she were in a movie—a medieval one, at that. this was only something that happened in movies, so how was it happening in abigail's, a simple
village girl's life? besides, only medieval people talked like that anyway. "as do you"? what was she even saying? "this is okay, right?" for no reason whatsoever, abigail remembered sebastian telling her, almost jokingly, "consent is key". she began to giggle, and didn't notice your anxious and worried look on your face. when she did, however, she felt nothing but guilt wash over her, and immediately began to apologize. "i-i'm sorry! i just thought of something that made me laugh, it's not anything you did, i promise!" "oh good," you snorted, "because if this wasn't good with you, i'd be concerned that you hadn't pushed me away by now." abigail laughed—an rare thing that not many got to hear, but those who did were truly blessed. although some might not find it to be the most attractive laugh that they'd ever heard, you wouldn't trade it for anything else. she would snort when she laughed, and her eyes would close and her nose would scrunch up as she would bend over and clutch her stomach, but it was so cute and in your opinion, it was one of your favorite qualities about her. "you're so damn cute," you mumbled, and she almost didn't catch it, what with the talking and laughing in the back, but she did. "you're cuter," she said, and smiled cheekily. "you weren't supposed to hear that, dumbass!" "but i did." and suddenly, everything was much more intimate. that was what she loved about you—you didn't mind the mood change, even though it would constantly flip with the drop of a hat. you never complained or bashed her about it, you simply went with the flow, and she appreciated that. you were staring into her eyes again, and she couldn't look away. she noticed—vaguely—that your lips were getting closer and closer to hers and she could smell your chocolaty breath and the smell of your deodorant, and god, she never wanted for this moment to end. "abigail! let's go!" emily's voice called, and inwardly, the girl groaned. she couldn't have a single second alone with you, could she? "coming!" she called, but even as you reluctantly pulled away and your breath was no longer fanning her lips, her nose couldn't help but tingle, and her skin couldn't help but develop goosebumps. "spring is tomorrow," you said, watching her gather her coat. "yeah." oh. "your dad sure does have some good quality seeds." oh. "y-yeah." "i'll see you around, abby," you said, a singular finger tucked in your belt loop as you watched her walk out of the door. "see ya," she called, and threw a timid wave behind her. you grinned. and although you wouldn't tell her until later, you heard her asking her father what time his shipment of seeds would get in and when they would be available for sale. and although the future may not seem so steady and she didn't know what it held, abigail knew one thing: she couldn't wait for tomorrow.

Abigail swung her sword with precision, her movements fluid and practiced. The dim light of her lantern flickered against the cavern walls, casting eerie shadows that danced with each swing. She had ventured deep into the mines, her mind set on honing her swordsmanship and pushing her limits. The clatter of her blade against rocks and the occasional hiss of slimes created a rhythm that was both invigorating and calming.
Slimes, green and gelatinous, had been her main opponents that day. Abigail had already dispatched a few with ease, her confidence bolstered by the thrill of combat. The mine was familiar territory, and she felt a surge of exhilaration each time her blade struck true. But as she delved deeper, the slimes seemed to grow bolder and more numerous. It wasn’t long before she found herself surrounded, their beady eyes glinting menacingly in the dim light.
She fought valiantly, her blade slicing through the air with practiced ease. Each swing and thrust was calculated, but the sheer number of slimes was beginning to overwhelm her. Her movements grew more frantic as she tried to keep the slimy creatures at bay. Sweat trickled down her forehead, and her breathing became ragged. She could feel her stamina waning, and desperation started to creep into her actions.
Just when Abigail thought she might be overrun, a new presence entered the fray. A familiar figure emerged from the shadows—a figure she had heard about but never seen in action. The new farmer, the topic of much town gossip, appeared with a determined expression. Without a moment's hesitation, she stepped into the battle, her movements smooth and confident.
The farmer wielded her weapon with a graceful precision that matched Abigail's own. With a series of quick, fluid strikes, she dispatched the slimes with an efficiency that left Abigail in awe. Her movements were almost poetic, each swing and parry perfectly timed. Together, they turned the tide of the fight, the slimes quickly falling to their combined strength. The once-menacing horde dissolved into harmless puddles, leaving only the echoes of their defeat.
Breathing heavily, Abigail wiped the sweat from her brow and turned to the farmer, who was sheathing her sword with a satisfied smile. “Thanks for the help,” Abigail said, her voice tinged with both relief and admiration. Her heart pounded not just from the battle, but from the unexpected presence of this remarkable individual.
The farmer smiled warmly, her eyes meeting Abigail’s with a sparkle of kindness. “No problem. I saw you were in trouble and couldn’t just stand by.”
Abigail’s heart fluttered at the farmer’s words and the genuine concern in her eyes. She felt a flush of warmth spread through her chest, an unfamiliar yet pleasant sensation that she hadn’t anticipated. The way the farmer had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and the ease with which she had handled the slimes was nothing short of impressive.
“I’m Abigail,” she said, extending a hand in friendship. “I didn’t realize you were so skilled. You’ve really saved me back there.”
The farmer shook her hand, her grip firm and reassuring. “Nice to meet you, Abigail. I’m [Name]. I’ve been working on my combat skills myself. It’s good to know my practice is paying off.”
As they walked back towards the entrance of the mine, the conversation flowed easily. Abigail found herself captivated by the farmer’s easy charm and genuine nature. They talked about their experiences in the mines, shared stories of their adventures, and laughed over the small mishaps that had occurred. The more Abigail listened, the more she admired the farmer’s humility and strength.
When they finally emerged into the daylight, Abigail felt a mix of exhilaration and introspection. The encounter had been unexpected, and the feelings it had stirred within her were both thrilling and confusing. She admired the farmer not only for her skills but for her kindness and bravery. There was something deeply magnetic about her, a special spark that Abigail couldn’t quite define but definitely felt.
As they reached the edge of the town, Abigail paused, a thoughtful expression on her face. She looked at the farmer, who was now walking beside her with a relaxed demeanor. “You know,” Abigail began, hesitating slightly, “I’ve never met anyone like you before. You’re not just good with a sword—you’re… really sweet.”
The farmer grinned, her eyes warm. “Thanks, Abi. That means a lot.”
As they said their goodbyes, Abigail felt a new, uncertain flutter in her chest. She was left with a lingering sense of admiration and a hopeful curiosity. The encounter had left her with more than just a sense of relief; it had opened up a new emotional landscape she hadn’t expected to navigate.
With a soft smile on her lips and her heart racing, Abigail walked back to town, her thoughts filled with the farmer. The feelings she experienced were unfamiliar and confusing, but she welcomed them. She couldn’t wait to see where this connection might lead and how her evolving feelings would unfold. The farmer had made a profound impact on her, and Abigail was eager to understand and explore what was blossoming within her heart.

Warnings: mentions of drinking and smoking, a little sprinkle of angst

I did not mean to make this angsty but it is just a curse I guess. I Hope you enjoy it!

“(Y/N) what are you doing up?” at the sound of their husbands voice, (Y/N) turned to face him whilst hiding their newest projects behind them.
“What do you mean? It’s not that late” (Y/N) nervously giggled out, avoiding eye contact.
“It’s like 3 in the morning, just come to bed please,” Sebastian sighed resting his forehead against (Y/N)’s. The two stayed in this position for many moments, forgetting everything around them until (Y/N) heard the leaves of their newest creation rustling in the breeze.
“Seb, I need to finish my work I’ll be in bed in a second,” Sebastian smiled at (Y/N), a smile that didn’t reach is eyes and (Y/N) could see that. They didn’t mention it though. They could tell how much it hurt Sebastian when they would ditch him for their work, but he never dared mention his feelings out of fear that he would hurt them. He just wanted to see (Y/N) happy and no matter how much it pained him to wake up alone if this made them happy then so be it. Seb said his goodnight with a small kiss to his lovers cheek and made his way to bed.
It took (Y/N) some time to get back to work. Fall was ending soon, and they wanted to get as much gold as they could before winter came and left their crop fields barren and empty. On top of that they were trying to make their husband something special to celebrate their recent wedding. This however left the poor farmer working nonstop to ensure that they could finish all the projects they had set out to do, unfortunately leaving other parts of their life such as relationships on the back burner. (Y/N) just hoped that this arrangement would be enough to make Sebastian forgive them for their neglect recently.
~*~
“Have you considered just talking to them?” Sebastian was currently sitting at the bar of the saloon with Abigail and Sam, complaining about his problems and trying (and failing) to cover his sadness with boozes and cigarettes.
“But what if they get mad at me and then I ruin our relationship and then they pack up all their stuff and move to the desert and-”
“Bro, they would never move to the dessert,” Sebastian looked up at Sam hopefully,
“You really think so?”
“Yeah, you can’t grow cany flowers in the desert,” Abigail smacked Sam across the head and went back to comforting Sebastian.
“Seb they love you so much and nothing is going to change that, I’m sure if you just talked to them about it they would understand,” Abigail finished her point with a comforting pat to his back.
Sebastian rested his head in his hands. He knew Abigail was right, but the thought was scary. They would never leave him. He was sure of it.
~*~
Sebastian walked into (Y/N)’a workshop again, watching them work in silence for a few moments.
“Hey (Y/N)-”
“Just give me like five seconds I need to finish something” Sebastian sighed, maybe he should just leave them to their work. Was he really justified to ask them to stop when it made them so happy? God he should just shut up and leave them alone.
“Here!” (Y/N) smiled brightly at him, their arms were outstretched, and, in their hands, they held a vase of flowers, “I really hope you like it, I put in a lot of effort. It’s mainly purple and black flowers because I know they’re your favourite colours. There are some black roses, black dahlias, there’s some lavender out here because I thought you would like it and some pansies here. Oh! I also put some frozen tears I got in the mines a few seasons back on the vase because I know they’re you’re favourite!”
(Y/N) looked up, trying to gage Sebastian’s reaction. He seemed pretty emotionless, staring intently at the flowers. Maybe this was a bad idea, (Y/N) should have never neglected their new marriage over something so trivial.
‘I mean its fine if you don’t like them, I can just sell it, it’s no big deal really-”
“I love you so much,” Sebastian looked up at (Y/N), seeing a wide smile quicky grace their features.
Sebastian took the vase in their hands and admired it closely, before setting it down beside him to take (Y/N) in his arms instead.
“So, I’m guessing you like it?” Sebastian chuckled and placed a peck on (Y/N)’s cheek.
“I love it dear,”
“Good,” (Y/N) smiled smugly at Seb who only laughed at their reaction.
“Good,”

Leah (Stardew) x Selectively Mute She/Her Reader
A/N: Thought I’d try something different with this one. Sorry if I didn’t detail the instances of sign language very well, or if they are a little off, I did try. Also Kel is an asshol in this when they show up so get ready for that. Robin is cool mom and Abigail is the friend who is always ready to fight at the drop of a hat. Also, time is so weird in Stardew? There are four season in a year but each season is like a month so a year is like four months. Time is scary. I hope you like it! Word Count: 8,943

“So, someone has finally taken up that old farmland,” Leah heard Gus say to Harvey as he fixed the good doctor a drink at the bar, “‘Heard Lewis and Robin talking about it outside of Pierre’s yesterday.”
“Is that so?” Harvey was tired from a long day at the clinic, but being ever polite, he humored Gus and rested fully against the bar stool.
“Mhmm, looks like the old man’s kin is finally gonna make something of it. A few years late though I must say, that place is well overgrown. It’s gonna take a lot more than a little elbow grease to spruce up that dump,” Gus chuckled good naturedly and handed Harvey his beer, “I wish them luck, whoever they are.”
“Bah!” Leah jumped in her seat tucked away in the corner. Pam must have been listening in too. “If they’re smart they’ll just sell the heap of trash to Joja. M’sure they’d get a pretty penny for it.” Pam spoke bitterly. Shane, who was also quite drunk at this point in the night, took the opportunity to add his two cents in and yell across the bar.
“Why would they get your daughter for selling out to Joja?”
“That’s not what I meant, dumbass!” Pam roared back, slamming her beer on the table with a loud thump.
Leah decided she’d call it a night then. Without Elliott to crack jokes with, the saloon could get real depressing real fast with Shane and Pam racing each other to see who would get alcohol poisoning first. Even Clint was just sad to watch. The poor man sitting hopefully, waiting for Emily to even just turn in his direction. Leah finished the rest of her beer and paid Gus, giving the man a sympathetic smile as he left to cut Shane off.
Leah shivered in the cool spring breeze as she walked along the river bank to her cottage and her thoughts wandered back to what Gus had been gossiping about.
“A new face around Stardew Valley, hm?” Leah mused, kicking a stray pebble in her path, watching it skip across the cobbled stone. “I guess I won’t be the town newbie anymore.” She smiled and turned to look in the direction of Marnie’s home, knowing that the farm was somewhere just beyond. As Leah turned the key to unlock the door of her small cottage, she wondered what changes this new resident might bring.
***
“Have you met our new resident farmer yet?” Leah heard Caroline ask Jodi as she walked across the town square.
“I suppose you could call it that,” Jodi laughed, “It was a very brief meeting to say the least.”
“I’m glad I wasn’t the only one then,” Caroline sighed, putting a hand to her chest in relief, “I thought I had offended the girl somehow, she never said a word. She just walked into the shop and pointed to a few seeds she wanted to buy, then she handed Abigail, Pierre and I daffodils and went on her way. Not so much as a sound.” Caroline explained, still bewildered by the interaction.
“Sounds about right,” Jodi nodded, “She knocked on the front door and handed me a single clam. Which was nice I suppose, but so very odd. She gave Vincent a daffodil too,” Jodi smiled, “He was very pleased. I’m sure she would have given Sam something as well if he could wake up at a more reasonable time.”
“Oh, Leah! Good morning!” Caroline had caught her. Leah put on her most sociable smile and walked forward, greeting the two women.
“Good morning Caroline, Jodi.”
“Have you been visited by the farm fairy yet?” Jodi asked, chuckling along with Caroline.
“I’m afraid not.” Leah admitted. “Although Elliott says I am a bit difficult to track down at the best of times.” She laughed good naturedly.
“Well, I’m sure she’ll get you sooner or later. She seems to be on a mission to greet the whole town. If you can call it a greeting I suppose. I don’t even know her name.” Caroline realized.
“It’s (Y/n).”
The three women jumped and turned to a grinning Robin, walking up to them with her yoga mat swaddled under her arm.
“Her name is (Y/n). She’s quite the character, huh?”
“Robin, you helped Mayor Lewis move her in didn’t you? What can you tell us?” Jodi asked, looking for any crumb of information she could get on the mysterious girl.
“Not much to tell,” Robin shrugged, “Just a sweet kid wanting to get away from the pressures of the big city,” she sent a knowing look at Leah, “Sounds like someone else I know.”
Leah laughed politely, twisting a finger around the tail end of her braid as blush settled in her cheeks faintly.
“But why is she so... you know, quiet?” Caroline asked.
“Hm, well, she did give me her blessing to explain should it come up.” Robin took a moment to think of how to proceed, absently tapping her fingers against her mat. “(Y/n) is selectively mute. She has the ability to speak, but she’s just not comfortable enough to do so at this time. This move was a big decision for her, and she’s excited, but it’s just gonna take some time before she feels secure enough to communicate orally.”
“And how did you get all this information out of her?” Caroline wondered.
Robin secured her yoga mat between her thighs and presented both hands, pointing her index fingers outward and drew a couple large circles in the air with the tips of her extended fingers. “Sign language!” Robin grinned, before taking a hold of her mat once more.
“Oh how clever!” Jodi praised. “I wish I understood sign language.”
“I’d be happy to show you a few of the basics sometime. If you really need to ask (Y/n) something though she will have no problem writing out answers for you.” Robin informed. “Now, are we working out today or...”
“I completely forgot!” Caroline smacked her forehead with the palm of her hand, “Yes, let’s go. Poor Marnie is probably wondering where we are. Are you going to join us Leah?”
“I’ll pass, thanks. I’m heading to the beach to do some painting,” Leah explained, motioning to her bag.
“Alright, see you around!” Caroline, Jodi and Robin bid Leah goodbye and hurried to the general store.
Leah sighed, as much as she liked the people in this town they were so chatty. She could have been at the beach forever ago! Once she arrived, she saw Haley sunbathing. Not unusual, but as she kept walking closer to shore she saw Elliott splayed out over the sand laying on his stomach.
Leah rolled her eyes and walked over, playfully kicking the man’s arm, causing him to squint up at her.
“Is there some kind of new writing exercise I should know about?” She asked, playfully.
“I wish, this is simply writer’s block at its finest.” Elliott groaned. “That, and I don’t know what I’m going to do with this,” he sat up and produced a wild horseradish from his jacket pocket.
“Why do you have a horseradish in your pocket?”
“A girl I’ve never seen before in my life gave it to me. Then she took off before I could refuse. Didn’t even say a word.”
“She’s totally weird, but she did give me a daffodil so I guess she’s not that bad.” Haley called from her own spot in the sand.
“Has everyone met the new girl except me?” Leah wondered aloud.
“She’s been making rounds. I’m sure she’ll find you eventually.” Elliott said, resting his chin over his arms.
“You make her sound so ominous.” Leah laughed, lowering herself to the sand and taking out a sketch pad.
“A silent specter. A harbinger of-“
“Oh can it, drama queen,” Leah smirked, “so she gave you a horseradish, it’s not the end of the world. She was just trying to be nice.”
Elliott pursed his lips, propping his head up with one hand he turned the horseradish in the other offering it to Leah. “Do you want it? You’re all about foraging.”
“I mean, if you’re not going to use it sure. Put it in my bag.” Leah relented easily. Her eyes only leaving her paper to study the horizon for a moment, then continue to sketch.
Leah stayed on the beach with Elliott for a couple of hours, talking  sketching, and painting. Finally she stood and stretched, patting the sand off the back of her jeans. “I should get going. See you around.”
“See you.” Elliott nodded, splitting off from Leah to head over to his shack.
Leah hummed to herself as she walked through town, making her way past Jodi’s house and entered the Cindersnap Forest. As she rounded the corner of her cottage, she paused in her tracks. Observing a young woman staring at her door with dandelions in one hand and her other poised to knock on the weathered wood.
Leah flinched slightly, she had stepped on a twig, snapping it and alerting her visitor of her presence.
Startled eyes met Leah’s own and the farmer straightened from her previous position, stepping back from Leah’s door.
She smiled shyly, giving Leah a short, jaunty wave before gesturing between Leah and the cottage a moment. Then she stood still. An expectant look on her face.
Leah simply stared back, blinking before she registered the silent question. “Oh! Yes, I live here. That’s my house. You’re (Y/n), right? Robin told me about you, I’m Leah.” She smiled kindly, coming forward to offer (Y/n) her hand to shake.
Instead of grasping Leah’s hand, (Y/n) cupped it with her gloved hands, turning Leah’s hand palm up and placing the dandelions inside.
“Ah, thank you.” Leah chuckled, “These will make a great salad.”
(Y/n) nodded vigorously, then moved to make her exit. Leah wasn’t sure what possessed her, but she called out to (Y/n) before she could get too far.
“Wait, I um, it’s not much but I did take an intro to ASL course my freshman year of college so, I’m a bit limited but if you ever want to talk, you know...” Leah wished she could stop talking right now. Why had no one told her that the farmer was cute!? “So, yeah, you know,” Leah fumbled with her free hand, her fingers sat just underneath her chin before she sent them forward, “Thanks again.” She smiled nervously.
(Y/n) stared at her, dumbfounded. Then she released a short, sharp exhalation of air that was reminiscent of stuttered laughter and turned back to stand before Leah. (Y/n) made a timid approach and gingerly took Leah’s wrist, still hovering midair, and guided the hand back to rest on Leah’s chin, just below her lip. Leah stood still as stone as (Y/n) held it there for a second then extended the hand forward. She repeated the motion twice more before backing away and releasing Leah from her gloved grasp. The smell of earth and grass still clung to Leah’s nose even after (Y/n) had stepped back.
“Oh, I did it wrong, didn’t I?” Leah blushed, “Is there a big difference between the two?”
(Y/n) blew out a large breath of air and nodded. One of her gloved hands came up to cover the amused smile fighting against her lips.
“What did I say? Was is embarrassing? Yoba, I need to know,” Leah carefully set the dandelions at her feet and rummaged through her bag. Taking out her sketch pad and a pencil, she flipped to a clean page and presented the materials into the rough fabric of (Y/n)’s gloved hands, “Please, tell me.”
(Y/n) shot Leah a sympathetic smile, then she looked down at the paper and wrote quickly and concisely. She looked over her work, nodded to herself, then she handed the sketch book and pencil back to Leah before jogging of in the direction of her farm.
“Eh- Hey! Wait a minute!” Leah took a few strides after the farmer but quickly gave up, electing to look at the paper in her hand instead. “Maybe I’ll tell you some other time. Nice meeting you Leah, smiley face.” Leah read aloud to herself. She scoffed, but couldn’t stop the smile that had conquered her lips. She couldn’t wait to see (Y/n) again.
***
“Hey, Maru-“
“I think I have a feeling about what this is about, but just in case, please proceed.”
The next morning, Leah had made her way to the clinic to visit Maru and perhaps get the answers she was looking for. She had made the trek to (Y/n)’s farm first, but she wasn’t there. A little note hastily taped to the farmer’s door revealed that she was spending the day fishing in the mountains and wouldn’t be back until late at night.
“Maru, you know sign language like your mom, right?” Leah asked.
“Sure do. Seb and dad do too.” Maru nodded, leaning over the clinic counter. “But I’ve got to tell you that if you’re looking for the meaning of what you accidentally signed to (Y/n) last night, we were sworn to silence earlier this morning before (Y/n) went fishing. Sorry.” Maru smiled.
“Ugh,” Leah sighed, leaning her forehead against the counter. “Can I at least have a hint?”
“Well, it’s really funny. Especially considering how chill you normally are and your kind disposition.”
“Yoba, I really need to know!” Leah groaned against the counter.
“Well my family can’t tell you. You’ll just have to wait to hear it from (Y/n),” Maru grinned and pushed away from the counter, “I have to prepare for Evelyn’s check up now so I’ll see you around Leah.”
“Yeah, bye.” Leah grumbled, watching Maru disappear into the back offices. “Well, there goes that plan.” She mumbled under her breath as she left the clinic.
Leah spent the rest of the day sculpting in her cottage. She spent hours getting lost in the chipping of the wood before finally going to bed.
***
It had been days since Leah last saw (Y/n) and if the farming life wasn’t so demanding, Leah would have been worried that she had deeply offended the farmer to the point that she was purposely avoiding her. Leah decided not to waste the time she had been presented with.
She approached Robin about sign language lessons, enough to get some basic phrases and words. She practiced the motions herself, perfecting them to allow for no mistakes. Although she knew (Y/n) could hear her just fine, she found it easier to retain the lessons this way. Not to mention that it was just a useful language to know.
“I’ve hardly seen you around. I was worried you stabbed yourself with your woodworking tools.” Elliott said as Leah came up to sit next to him in the saloon.
“And you didn’t think to come to check on me?” Leah looked at the writer incredulously.
“Nope.”
Leah punched Elliott’s arm and he laughed. Before long, Emily came by with their food and they ate comfortably.
“Would you look at that.” Elliot spoke, pointing in direction of the door as he swallowed another bite.
Leah turned to look, purple irises sparkling at the sight of (Y/n) lugging a large bag up to the bar. She watched Emily talk (Y/n)’s ear off, the poor farmer smiled uncomfortably while trying to divide her attention between her and Gus who had apparently requested a variety of fish.
“Wow, Robin said you were in trouble but you really are,” Elliott chuckled behind his beer, “You really lit up just now.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Leah scoffed, still watching (Y/n) hand Gus fish after fish. It was almost comical how such an objectively small bag could hold so much.
“You can’t keep your eyes off her. I realize the dating pool in Stardew is small, but the girl just got here.”
“Elliott, stop!” Leah blushed, looking back down at her plate to stab at her salad.
“I’m just saying, you’re already taking sign language lessons for her you might want to dial it back a little bit. You wouldn’t want to come off as the obsessive type.”
“Oh! She’s leaving, should I offer to walk her home? I’m going to offer to walk her home.” Leah dug in her pocket and pulled out some gold, pushing it over to Elliott.
“What did I just say?” Elliott called after Leah, as she eagerly jogged to the exit to catch (Y/n) walking in the direction of the Cindersaps, perfect!
“(Y/n), good evening!” Leah called jogging up to the farmer only to have the farmer gasp and take several steps away from Leah, holding her hands out as a warning to not come any closer. “I’m sorry, I’m didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable!” Leah gasped, maybe Elliott was right.
(Y/n) shook her head, slowly taking a step back towards Leah, presenting her slightly soggy bag and waving her hand in front of her nose, scrunching her face as she did so.
Leah was sure the movement wasn’t an official ASL sign, but it did help get the point across and she giggled.
“What? Do you think you smell?”
Another nod and a look that seemed to say that she didn’t just think so, she knew so. She had been in the mines all morning and fishing at the beach all afternoon. She couldn’t wait to take a shower.
“It’s alright, I won’t judge you,” Leah smiled, “Are you heading home for the night? I’d be happy to walk with you since it’s so dark.”
(Y/n) took a moment to think about it before nodding shyly and motioning Leah closer. Leah happily obliged walking alongside the farmer into the Cindersap Forest. The walk was mostly silent, but that was to be expected nonetheless, Leah was having a great time. They had even found a couple of leeks along the way which (Y/n) had insisted Leah keep. All too soon, they reached the porch of the old farmhouse.
“You’re crops look great,” Leah complimented, looking for an excuse to stay even just a few minutes more, “really healthy. What all have you been growing? Are those potatoes and turnips?”
(Y/n) looked over her shoulder as she unlocked her door. Her eyes focused on where Leah was pointing and nodded affirmingly.
“Yeah, I’m no farmer but I love foraging. I’ve got a few really good books about wild foods and where to find them and when. It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt.” Leah grinned.
“Mhmm.”
It was quiet, a little strained, but the small hum of agreement almost sent Leah into cardiac arrest. She sounded so sweet! Leah’s cheeks were starting to hurt from how widely she was smiling.
“Well, I’ll leave you to it then. So, I’ll see you around?”
(Y/n) looked like she wanted to say something, but settled for a simple nod, fiddling with the gardening gloves she had taken off. Leah smiled softly, watching how the farmer intently eyed the fabric twisting in her hands.
“Feel free to drop by the cottage whenever it suits you. I’ll leave the door open!” Leah added, waving over her shoulder as she turned to walk away. (Y/n) beamed, looking a bit more lively as she waved back.
Leah turned her back on the house and walked back to her cottage in the Cindersaps with a skip in her step and a painfully large smile on her face. Although it was already late, she prepared a new block of wood for sculpting. Her new muse had granted her a vision for a grand project and had the potential to be one of her greatest works yet.
***
“Kel, I told you to stop calling me. I’m not coming back to the city, we are through.” Leah frowned, her hand gripped the phone receiver so tightly that she could hear the plastic giving slightly under the pressure.
She was so focused on combating Kel’s useless bargains that she hadn’t noticed the timid farmer show herself in, looking at Leah’s tense shoulders and back with concern. (Y/n) flinched as Leah cut off Kel to speak again, her voice low and stern.
“There is nothing you could say, nothing you could offer me, that would make me come back. Move on, and please, for the last time, do not call me again.” Leah slammed the phone down on its perch. Pressing her palms into her eyes she let out a frustrated groan, slowly positioning her hands to rub at her temples to combat the headache she felt coming on.
Then she heard the door creak.
Leah quickly turned around just in time to see (Y/n) looking back at her with wide eyes and lips pursed thin as if she had been caught witnessing an event she had no business seeing. Which was partially true, but Leah had told her a week beforehand that she could drop by anytime.
“(Y/n), what a pleasant surprise!” Leah grimaced, watching (Y/n) flinch and look down sheepishly at her feet. One had managed to retreat back out the door before being caught and it was slowly joined by the intruding foot, so (Y/n) was fully outside again. Leah shook her head and calmly approached the farmer.
“Please don’t leave, I’m the one who told you to come let yourself in whenever. I’m sorry you had to hear all of that.” Leah was worried, watching (Y/n) linger in the doorway. Her shoulders relaxed when (Y/n) cautiously came back inside and closed the door behind her.
(Y/n) stood in the entryway and looked over Leah, her eyes filled heavily with concern. She raised a hand, pointing to Leah before signing the letters ‘o’ and ‘k’.
“I’m okay. I’m just,” Leah fumbled for the right words, “mad, sad? Exhausted.”
(Y/n) made another gesture, shaping her fingers into a ‘hang loose’-esque sign. Her curled fingers meeting her chin. She lowered the hand momentarily to give it a controlled shake before bringing it back up into the starting position.
“What’s wrong?” Leah mumbled, making sure she understood. (Y/n) nodded. “I just got a phone call from someone I didn’t want to talk to is all,” Leah sighed, “They’re an ex of mine. The person who called.” Leah disclosed, rubbing the back of her neck, agitated.
(Y/n) signed again, but Leah didn’t quite catch it that time so she motioned (Y/n) over to her dining nook and sat her down with some paper and a pencil. The farmer seemed a bit unwilling to write it out, feeling like it was more insensitive somehow but with a little prodding from Leah, she gave in.
“Was it a bad break up...” Leah read aloud. She sat back in her chair and carefully chose her words. “Sometimes it feels like we’re still breaking up,” Leah chuckled wryly, “Kel, my ex, didn’t like me perusing art. They didn’t think I could make a living out of it and wanted me to waste away at some office job and well, I didn’t want that. They weren’t respectful or supportive of my dreams, so I left. They call me a lot though, to try to convince me to come back to the city... that I won’t make it as an artist. That I can’t be happy without them. It really is exhausting and the worst part is, I worry that they’re right.” Leah released a shuddering breath, “I haven’t sold a single piece. I don’t really even know how to start. I can sustain myself on what I have in my savings account for only so long.”
(Y/n) covered Leah’s hand with her own, squeezing it. Leah marveled at how soft it was in comparison to her own, especially since it was the hand of a farmer. Perhaps the gloves (Y/n) always wore had more practical uses rather than simply being worn for aesthetic’s sake. Leah chanced a look at (Y/n)’s face and was caught off guard by the determined fire blazing in her eyes. Then Leah’s attention was brought back to the table as (Y/n) furiously scratched the pencil against the paper and forcefully pushed her newly composed message in front of the sculptor, her other hand still rooted over Leah’s.
Leah read over the note and felt her heart ache with appreciative warmth. ‘You were brave enough to know what you wanted and even though it wasn’t easy, you went for it. That in itself is an amazing accomplishment that you should not take lightly. Your dream is not unfounded either, I’ve seen some of your sketches and paintings and I think you are very talented. Once you figure out how to put yourself out there you’ll have people begging you to take their money.’
Leah sniffed and smiled at (Y/n) appreciatively, turning her hand to reciprocate (Y/n)’s strong, yet gentle hold on her. “Thank you, (Y/n). I just wish I knew how to start.”
(Y/n) tapped her chin with the pencil as she thought. When she had an idea, she pulled the paper back to herself and wrote a suggestion.
“An art show? Oh, I don’t know (Y/n). It hardly seems possible.”
(Y/n) shook her head in disagreement and wrote more.
“You really think the town would want to help? Are you sure you want to help? You’ve got enough on your plate already with how busy the farm keeps you. I don’t want to impose.”
(Y/n) looked as if she had something to say, her throat bobbed and her lips twitched, but in the end she settled for the paper again, still too anxious to speak. After Leah had read the reply, she felt (Y/n)’s thumb rub against her knuckles and looked up. (Y/n) nodded, her expression serious. She wanted to help Leah with this.
“Thank you, (Y/n)!” Leah sniffled, holding back tears. She launched herself into (Y/n)’s arms and hugged the surprised farmer close. “Thank you so much!”
(Y/n) slowly returned the hug, smoothing one of her hands over Leah’s back in comforting motions. It was a bit of an awkward position with (Y/n) still sitting at the table and Leah hovering over her, but it felt nice.
“Sorry,” Leah chuckled after a moment, leaning back and wiping a stray tear from her eye, “I kind of caught you off guard with that didn’t I?”
(Y/n) shrugged and smiled good naturedly. A look came over her face as if she just remembered something and she stood up to grab her bag from the cottage entryway. She grinned when she found what she was looking for and made her way back to Leah, holding out a brown paper package to her.
“For me?” Leah asked. (Y/n) nodded and gestured for her to take it. Leah carefully unwrapped it and gasped. “(Y/n), is this goat cheese? I love this, how did you know?”
(Y/n) raised her hand, signing the letters ‘E’ ‘L’ ‘L’ ‘I’ ‘O’ ‘T’ ‘T’.
“Elliott hm?” Leah laughed, “I’m glad you two are getting along after the horseradish debacle.”
(Y/n) crossed her arms and stuck her nose up. She wasn’t looking back on the memory fondly.
“Hey, I’m with you on this one. He was being an ass. How could you have known he hated horseradish.”
(Y/n) nodded in agreement, one of her hands reaching out as if to say, ‘exactly’. She then noticed the time on Leah’s clock and signed that she had to go.
“I see.” Leah smiled sadly, trying not to let her disappointment shine through. “Good bye then, and (Y/n),” Leah signed ‘thank you’, very mindful of the position of her hands this time around, “seriously thank you for everything.”
(Y/n) beamed, giving Leah a thumbs up before heading out the door.
***
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Leah kept mumbling to herself while watching her fellow Pelican Townies set up her creations in the town square. There were already some tourists looking around and Leah felt her nerves fraying.
“Hang in there, kid. Everything looks great. Don’t worry so much.” Robin snuck up on Leah, making her jump. “It’s a beautiful summer day, don’t forget to enjoy it.”
“I’m trying, Robin. It’s just so much.” Leah said, nervously playing with her sleeve. Robin noticed Elliott walking up and motioned him to help deal with the artist while she went to help Demetrius move a heavy wooden sculpture.
“Come on now, Leah. Too late to back out now.” Elliott grinned, thumping her back. “(Y/n) seems especially excited by how things are progressing.”
Leah chanced a glance at (Y/n) and Maru putting up paintings between signing each other excitedly. The scene warmed her heart and her shoulders relaxed a bit.
“Yeah, okay. I’ll try.”
“Great, now let’s go woo some tourists.” Elliott said, wiggling his eyebrows.
“What? Elliott, no!” Leah shook her head.
“Not like that,” Elliott laughed, “I know your heart belongs to someone else. I just meant,” he looks around before whispering in Leah’s ear, “woo them out of their money.”
Leah laughed and pushed Elliott away. “Alright, you focus on the wooing and I’ll focus on explaining my thought processes.”
“That doesn’t sound as fun, but okay, this is your day.”
As Elliot and Leah made their way across the square, an unwelcome guest watched them from afar. Their blood boiled as they saw Leah pause at the makeshift painting gallery to give the farmer’s hand an affectionate squeeze.
***
“I can’t believe we sold so many!” Leah spoke in ecstatic disbelief as she waved at the last car she and (Y/n) had just loaded a heavy wooden sculpture into before it drove away. “This is crazy!”
(Y/n) wore a smile that matched Leah’s, happy to watch the sculptor bouncing in place. When Leah finally stilled, still giddy, she took both of (Y/n)’s hands in hers. Once again free of the gloves, the hands were pleasantly soft against her own and she relished in the feeling.
“(Y/n) I know it’s kind of late, but I have something I want to give to you. I left it at my house so I’m going to go get it. I’ll meet you at the farm, is that alright?”
(Y/n) stared at Leah, her curiosity piqued. She nodded, easily giving Leah the answer she was hoping for.
“Great! I’ll be there soon!” With one last squeeze of the farmer’s hands, she was off. (Y/n) heard the crack of a twig, but when she turned to investigate, nothing stood out so she made her way back to her farm to wait for Leah.
When Leah came up to the porch, (Y/n) had to do a double take at the big wooden statue she was lugging along. With one last huff of air, Leah placed the statue at the base of the steps and grinned up at (Y/n), wiping a bit of sweat from her brow.
“Thanks for waiting. It was a little more ah, heavy, than I expected.” Leah laughed sheepishly. “Come take a look.”
(Y/n) stepped off the porch and circled the piece, taking in every detail. Leah felt nervous butterflies fluttering in her stomach while she watched the farmer scrutinize the work and cleared her throat.
“I started working on it in the spring. I also incorporated some of that driftwood you gave me a few weeks ago. Anyway, I made it with you in mind. It’s called, ‘How I Feel about (Y/n)’ and I’d be honored if you would accept it as a gift for everything you’ve done for me.” Leah stared at her feet as she spoke, too embarrassed to keep her eyes on (Y/n) while she spoke. Then a pair of boots joined, hands came up to clasp her own, pulling the conjoined grasp into her line of vision and coaxing her to look up into (Y/n)’s eyes.
“It’s wonderful.”
At that moment, Leah thought her heart must have been beating so hard that it was affecting her hearing.
“Hh... huh?” Leah asked, rather dumbly.
(Y/n) swallowed thickly, took a deep breath, and whispered, “It’s wonderful, Leah. Thank you.”
Leah looked absolutely awestruck, purple irises shone with excitement and she laughed, pulling (Y/n) into a tight embrace.
“I’m glad you like it.” Leah sniffled, resting her face in (Y/n)’s shoulder.
“Leah?” (Y/n) wrapped her arms around the artist, it was only one word, her name, but Leah heard the concern in the farmer’s tone.
“I’m okay. I’m just happy,” Leah sniffled again, “I’m happy you felt comfortable enough with me to speak to me.”
“Me too.” (Y/n) whispered, holding Leah tighter.
The pair found it difficult when they had to part ways for the night, but they were equally excited over how their relationship was developing, looking forward to spending more time together over the summer.
***
“Come on, just a little further...” Leah coached herself. She was reaching for a piece of fruit hanging from a branch just out of her reach.
She had planned a picnic with (Y/n) for this afternoon. She had already set up under the big old tree near the pond and as she waited for (Y/n) to finish up with her crops and animals for the morning, when she spotted the unusual fruit. Now she was jumping and stretching for the fruit just out of reach.
“Almost— Ah!” Leah struggled to balance herself in the air, swiveling her head to peak over her shoulder, she saw (Y/n) looking up at her with a mischievous grin. Leah rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at the side of her lips. She turned back to the task at hand and grabbed the fruit, motioning (Y/n) to put her back down.
“Show off.” Leah scoffed, lightly punching (Y/n)’s shoulder. “You wanna try a bite?”
“Yes, please.” (Y/n)’s cheeks heated when Leah pressed the fruit to her lips. She took a bite of the offering, savoring the taste. “It’s so sweet.” She said, amazed.
“Right?” Leah smiled, “It’s rare to get fruit from this tree. Usually all the animals snap it all up as soon as they’re ripe, but it seems they miss some from time to time. How is everything with the farm this morning?”
“All is well,” (Y/n) nodded as the pair made themselves comfortable on the blanket Leah had set up, “I would have been here sooner but the goats kept standing in front of my cheese and mayo machines, the chicken coup too. Made it a little difficult.” (Y/n) disclosed. “Which reminds me,” she rummaged through her bag, “goat cheese salads.”
“Mmm, this looks heavenly. Thank you for making these.” Leah said, eagerly stirring in some vinaigrette into the generous fresh salad.
“No problem. Selling my harvest is nice, but it feels so much more rewarding enjoying it like this.” (Y/n) informed, mixing her own salad.
“I can imagine,” Leah hummed and leaned her back fully against the trunk of the tree, “Ah, it’s such a lovely day for this.”
“Mhmm.”
They ate the rest of their meal in peaceful silence, listening to the birds sing and the fish leap, the breeze rustling the trees and grass around them. It was tranquil, it was perfect.
“Hey, Leah,” (Y/n) spoke, breaking the silence.
“Yes?” Leah asked, turning her gaze away from the sketch pad she had brought out.
“It’s almost Fall you know, we’ve known each other for nearly two whole seasons. Half a year, it’s crazy, right?”
“Yeah, it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, doesn’t it?” Leah giggled, “What made you think of that?”
“Well, I wanted to ask you something. Don’t feel like you have to answer one way or the other, but...” (Y/n) paused, trying to gather her thoughts.
“Hey, it’s okay (Y/n). You can tell me anything. Sign it out if you want to.”
“No, it’s okay. I’m just nervous,” (Y/n) turned to her bag and pulled out a lovely bouquet of flowers, “Leah, would you maybe consider being my girlfriend?“
“Yes!” Leah enveloped (Y/n) in a tackle like hug that sent them both to fully meet the ground, accidentally crushing the flowers between their bodies, “Oops, sorry,” Leah wiggled the flowers out from under her to look at them more closely, “these are lovely, (Y/n). I didn’t know Pierre had these in yet.”
“He didn’t, I planted them.” (Y/n) clarified, smiling up at Leah who still hovered over her, giggling.
“Of course you did, you’re so sweet.”
“I try.”
“Are you kidding me!”
Leah and (Y/n) quickly turned to face the disturbance, scrambling to sit up from their compromising position. Leah felt her stomach twist with discomfort seeing Kel of all people marching up to them, absolutely fuming.
“Seriously, what the hell, Leah?” Kel yelled, their hands clenched into tight fists as they closed in, making yard after yard disappear between them.
“No, more like what the hell, Kel? I broke up with you seasons ago. What are you even doing in Pelican Town?” Leah retorted angrily, as (Y/n) helped her to her feet. Kel watched the motion and ground their teeth.
They were already dangerously close to crossing the threshold of the blanket and that small display was enough to send them stomping over the edge.
“I came for you, obviously! I’ve been slumming it in that dusty old saloon since your art show, waiting to talk to you! Now I find you sucking face with some country bumpkin nobody!” They seethed, stepping even closer into Leah’s personal space until (Y/n) pulled Leah back behind her, making Kel even more incensed. “You stay out of this. I’m talking to Leah!”
(Y/n) held strong, stuck between the harsh obscenities attacking her from the front and the loving affirmations defending her from behind. She held her arm out, willing Kel to stay back as she slowly started to guide Leah back in the direction of town for help. Kel ignored the warning and followed after them.
“Don’t you have anything to say for yourself? You think you’re being some kind of hero right now?” Kel seethed.
(Y/n) stayed silent, she had gone mute again and who would blame her in the face of such a tense situation? She was so very uncomfortable, scared even, but she continued on passed Marnie’s since she knew the woman wasn’t home at this time and she sure wasn’t going to expose Jas to this. Jodi’s house was their next best bet.
“Hey, you obviously want to start something here. You’ve got something to say to me?” Kel continued forward.
“Kel, leave us alone!” Leah commanded, “It’s over, it’s been over, go home!”
“You think you’re too good to talk to me?” Kel yelled, ignoring Leah. “She’s just a whore. She just latched onto the first warm body she could find after her little meltdown. You’re not special.”
(Y/n) froze stiffly in place, Leah felt the muscles on her shoulders tense so she tried to pull on her arm to keep her moving.
“Ignore them, (Y/n). Let’s focus on getting to town, okay?” Leah pleaded. But (Y/n) gently pushed off Leah’s hands and took a step towards Kel with a cold glare. Leah stepped to stand beside (Y/n)’s side, nervous that a more serious confrontation was about to unfold.
“Well?” Kel spat.
(Y/n) crossed her arms, turning her head to look at Leah. The look on her face was all the communication Leah needed to understand. It was definitely a, ‘they better back off or I’m going to knock them off their block’ face. Leah had never known (Y/n) to be particularly violent, but with all the time she spent in the mines, she had no doubt that she could take care of herself.
Leah gasped when Kel suddenly roared, lunging forward. Apparently they had not liked how (Y/n) and Leah had been paying attention to each other rather than themself. Kel had rocketed forward and aimed to punch (Y/n) hard over her cheek, however, at the last moment, Leah pushed her aside and took the blow for her.
(Y/n) inhaled sharply and caught Leah as she stumbled back, noticing how blood immediately began gushing from Leah’s now broken nose.
“Ow- AH!” Leah cried, her hands muffled her voice since she had covered her nose and mouth.
It only took a second for (Y/n) to return the favor to Kel’s stunned face. She punched them fast and hard over their cheek, but Kel was quick to fight back and now it was a full out brawl.
“What’s going on, we heard yelling— holy shit!”
Leah turned away from the fight to see Sam, Seb, and Abigail running up on the scene.
“(Y/n)’s throwing hands!” Abigail yelled, sounding way more excited than worried.
“Leah are you okay? What’s going on?” Sebastian asked, noting the concerning amount of blood running down Leah’s arms and the front of her shirt.
“Don’t worry about me, stop them!” Leah winced, taking one hand away from her face to motion to her ex and her new girlfriend still going at each other.
“Damn, Abi! Go get your dad and Harvey too by the looks of it!” Sam yelled, he seemed to be looking for an opening to push the fighters apart.
“Are you kidding? You get my dad, I’m getting in on this!” Abigail cheered and ran up to jump on Kel’s back like she was at a rodeo while (Y/n) landed a good hit on Kel’s stomach. “Nice punch, (Y/n)!”
“Oh Yoba, Sam, start running.” Seb suggested, trying to help Leah with her nose. He was no Maru, but even he knew how to set a broken nose. Especially within the first couple weeks of Sam taking up skateboarding.
“Right!” Sam ran off back into town screaming. A few tense minutes later and Pierre, Caroline, Robin, Elliott, Maru and Harvey came running behind Sam to break up the fight.
“Abigail, stop!” Pierre huffed, pulling off his daughter and passing her off to his wife, “I taught you what I did to defend yourself, not to lash out like a wild animal!” He grunted, pulling Kel into his grasp and trapping their arms behind their back with Elliott coming up to assist.
“Come on dad, I was helping a friend! What’s the big deal?” Abi groaned, while her mom fretted over her, looking for injuries.
“Easy there kid, it’s over.” Robin coaxed (Y/n), pulling her back. The farmer slumped over in the carpenter’s hold, breathing heavily.
“Is (Y/n) okay? Ah!” Leah hissed as Harvey touched up her nose, giving her a nasal spray before wedging a couple wads of tissue up her nostrils.
“Sorry, Leah.” Harvey sympathized, “Maru is going to check up on her now.”
“What about me?” Kel hissed. Pierre had them resting on their knees. They looked really roughed up. A black eye was already forming and scratches and bruises littered their skin, they were also holding their stomach rather tightly.
“You’ll just have to wait a minute.” Elliott frowned, staring down at the stranger with contempt.
“Don’t you have any police officers in this backwater town? I’ll sue every one of you for withholding care to someone who is obviously hurt!” Kel threatened, grinding their teeth.
“Oh, the police are coming alright!”  Caroline spoke indignantly. “You are in no position to be asking for anything right now, bringing violence to our community, you should be ashamed!”
“(Y/n) can you look up for me, please.” Maru asked, carefully tilting (Y/n)’s chin up. (Y/n) sucked in a breath when Maru touched her bruised jaw a tad to hard. “Sorry, Your jaw is bruised pretty badly. Your bottom lip split too. How is your vision?”
(Y/n) shook her head and winced, cradling her head in her hands.
“Okay, possible concussion. We’ll need to observe her at the clinic.” Maru said.
“Alright, come on bruiser,” Robin grunted, heaving (Y/n) to her feet, “Sebbie, help me walk her into town please.”
“Sure mom.” Seb took (Y/n)’s other side.
(Y/n) patted Robin’s arm, motioning her to wait. She slowly turned to Kel and leaned more heavily against Seb as she freed her other arm from Robin to snap her fingers aggressively, looking for Kel’s attention. Once Kel looked up at her, sneering from their spot in the dirt, (Y/n) turned briefly to make sure Leah was watching. When she saw that she was, she smiled as if to say, ‘watch this,’ and turned back to Kel. (Y/n) brought her flat, angled hand below her chin and sent it forward in the direction of Kel’s confused, but no less, pissed face.
“Oh ho! (Y/n) is such a badass!” Abigail laughed.
“Abi, since when do you know sign language?” Sam asked, clearly confused.
“I don’t, but I’ve spent enough time searching curses in different languages to know that was totally a ‘fuck you’. Personally I think a middle finger approach would have been an appropriate classic myself but whatever.” Abigail shrugged.
“Abigail, language!” Caroline scolded.
“Sorry mom.”
“Alright, you’ve had your fun. Clinic, now.” Robin tried to hold in a laugh as she repositioned (Y/n)’s arm over her shoulder. Then she and Seb began walking (Y/n) back into town.
Leah made to follow, but as they were leaving, the police from the the next town over had arrived and they needed her statements as a witness. Never mind that she was covered in her own blood and her girlfriend was being dragged away to the clinic with a concussion. Once the officers were satisfied, they took Kel away with promises to be back for (Y/n)’s statement and to see if any charges would be made. For now they were just going to take Kel back to a hospital in Zuzu City since they may have broken a rib or two in the fight. After that, they were going to be free to go.
Leah wasn’t too worried. She didn’t think Kel would come back after the beating (Y/n) and Abigail gave them. She watched the police car drive out of Cindersaps, taking her disgruntled ex away.
“Leah, I’m sure you want to get to the clinic but you should really clean up first.” Caroline had said patting the younger woman’s back. “(Y/n) will be fine.”
“Yeah, Harvey and Maru got her. Take some time to process.” Elliott smiled.
Leah could only nod tiredly. She trudged over to her cottage to shower and change. She still couldn’t believe how quickly things got out of hand. She looked at her bandaged nose in the mirror, hissing when she gingerly touched the bridge of it. She was wary of Seb setting it himself, but Harvey said he had gone a great job. Once she was physically put back together, Leah quickly made her way to the clinic.
“Where is she?” She asked immediately upon arriving. She sounded a little congested thanks to her clogged nose, but she was easily understood. Robin was still in the waiting room and filled her in.
“Harvey and Maru are talking her through concussion care. She’s okay, but I don’t think she’ll be allowed to work for awhile.”
“Oh no,” Leah sat down, resting her elbows on her knees and covered her eyes with her hands, “This is all my fault.”
“Aw, don’t say that sweetheart. You know that’s not true.” Robin frowned, taking a seat beside her, “(Y/n) would hate to hear you think like that.”
“(Y/n) loves her farm! If she can’t maintain the upkeep...” Leah continued, teary eyed, only to be silenced by Robin.
“I’m going to stop you right there. Nothing is going to happen to the farm. Abi, Sam, and even Seb already told (Y/n) in no uncertain terms that they were going to pitch in while she recovers. Everything is going to be taken care of.” Robin assured.
“Still none of this would have happened if-“
“If you hadn’t broken up with your ex? Moved to Pelican Town? Got a crush? Leah, you can’t punish yourself for moving on with your life. You’re allowed to be happy.” Robin chided gently. “It was hard for me and Sebastian’s father to see eye to eye at the best of times. Now I have Demetrius and although he can be a bit annoying sometimes with his tomato bullshit, not a day goes by that I’m not grateful I took that first step because I love him.” Robin smiled.
Leah’s nose hurt like hell as she tried to carefully wipe the tears from her eyes and Robin rubbed her back affectionately. Once Leah had calmed down, Robin stood and stretched.
“She’s been wondering where you are. The doc is keeping her for overnight observation, but your welcome to stay with her. I on the other hand, am apparently too old for this much excitement and need to go home.”
“Thank you Robin, for talking to me.”
“Anytime,” Robin grinned, “now go get her.”
Leah made her way into the back area of the clinic and nearly ran up to Harvey, Maru, and (Y/n). (Y/n) was signing to Maru while she relayed the information to Harvey as he examined (Y/n)’s well being.
(Y/n) was relieved to see Leah and eagerly motioned her to come sit on the edge of the bed she was sitting in which Leah did happily.
“Leah, how’s the nose?” Harvey asked while he finished up (Y/n)’s chart.
“It’s fine. Just, really sore and tingly.”
“So not fine.” Maru chuckled. “I’ll get you some pain meds.”
“Ah, thanks Maru.” Leah smiled sheepishly.
“Well, Ms. (Y/n),” Harvey sighed, turning his attention back to the farmer, “you and I are in for a long night. I’ll be waking you up every hour to check your pupils to see if your condition changes at all.” Harvey stood and stretched, “Ms. Leah, feel welcome to stay as long as you like. It can’t hurt to keep an extra pair of eyes on her.”
“I could stay overtime, Harvey.” Maru said as she came back with two pills and a glass of water for Leah.
“I seem to recall you talking about a time sensitive experiment this morning.” Harvey recalled, making Maru smack the side of her head. “You’re right! I got to go now! Good night everyone!” Maru called behind her as she rushed out to the waiting room then out of the building.
“I’m going to take the first of my many naps lined up for tonight. I’ll see you ladies in about an hour. Try to get some rest.” Harvey said before leaving to walk up the stairs to his apartment.
Finally Leah and (Y/n) were alone again. (Y/n) sunk down into the covers and sighed deeply. She turned to face Leah, concerning the sculptor by how small she looked.
“You’re not too upset with me, are you?” (Y/n) asked, surprising Leah.
“I’m not upset with you. Why would I be upset with you?”
“I just beat the crap out a person. Sure they are your ex, but you cared about them at some point so it must have been hard to watch. I can’t imagine what you must think of me now.” (Y/n) whispered, she was so quiet Leah had to lean closer and even then she was straining to hear.
“(Y/n), I like you. Nothing that happened today changed how much I like you. It certainly didn’t make me like you any less,” Leah rested her hand over (Y/n)’s cheek, “Kel made their choice when they decided to come to Pelican Town and confront us. I wish it hadn’t gone down the way it did, but that’s not our fault. I’m just glad you’re okay.”
“I’m glad you’re okay too. I was worried.”
“I wish we could start this day all over,” Leah moaned, “First day as official girlfriends and we get into a fist fight.”
(Y/n) laughed lightly, closing her eyes to combat the pain that came from her jostling. “Abigail thought it was a pretty great date activity.”
“She would think that.” Leah rolled her eyes, “she also eats rocks.”
“Well, think about it this way. Until I’m allowed to take up all my farming duties again, you can do whatever you want with me.”
“Whatever I want, hmm?” Leah tapped her lips with her index finger, “would it be to forward if me to ask for a kiss?”
“You may, just be careful with my split lip. I won’t be able to explain what happened to Harvey if you make it worse.” (Y/n) said.
“One gentle kiss, coming right up.” Leah wiggled on the bed’s stiff hospital sheets until she laid face to face with (Y/n). Their lips met in a soft brushing that was almost ghost like, but rather than leaving them with a chill, warmth bloomed between them.
“Wow.” (Y/n) grinned.
“If you thought that was good, wait until I can get more involved with it.”
“So confident. I like it.” (Y/n) squinted, “could you turn the light off? It’s really starting to hurt my eyes.”
“Of course.” Leah got up and switched off the half the lights to keep their side of the room in darkness but allow Harvey to still be able to see when he came back.
“Now come cuddle, please.” (Y/n) asked sleepily reaching her arms out.
“Nothing would make me happier.”
Leah kicked off her boots and shimmied under the sheets to join (Y/n) and wrapped her arms around her. Leah let the exhaustion of the day roll over her and she had nearly let sleep claim her before her eyes shot open and she propped herself up on her elbow to lean over (Y/n).
“Did I really sign a ‘fuck you’ when we first met?!” She asked, appalled.
(Y/n)’s response was to laugh sleepily into Leah’s chest.

“Pelican Town,” the name fell involuntarily from Y/N’s lips as she hopped from the bus that had dropped her at her new home. “Guess we’re here, Luna.”
The midnight black cat rubbed itself against her owners’ leg, hopping onto the ground beside the suitcase that had landed mere moments before. A purr escaped the felines’ lips at the feeling off Y/N’s fingers gently caressing her fur, back arching in pleasure.
The cold air blew through the girl’s body as she stepped from the bus with once final ‘thank you’ aimed towards the driver. A shiver ran through her, arms wrapping around themselves to keep a grip on the little warmth she had left. Luna, who was now pressed tightly against Y/N’s leg, seemed to feel the same as her.
“Come here,” she smiled, kneeling with an open arm to allow the cat to hop into, soon surrounded with the warmth of the jacket Y/N had luckily worn for her journey. “Good girl.”
The sound of a young girl’s laughter sounded throughout the street, blending into her eyes along with the roaring engine of the, now departing, bus. A small grin crawled onto the Y/H/C-haired womans lips as she spotted a young, dark-haired girl holding hands with a man who seemed just as happy as she sounded.
“Shane, who’s that?” The young girls’ eyes were now fixated on the newest arrival to Pelican Town, legs shuffling themselves to move behind Shane’s body.
“Not sure, Jas.” The man’s own attention was now on Y/N, unsure as to what to say to her, if anything.
“She has a kitty!” Jas, or at least who Y/N assumed to be Jas, pointed towards Luna whose head had popped out from the jacket once the chatter had begun.
“She’s called Luna,” Y/N smiled brightly as she, once again, pet Luna. “You can pet her if you’d like!”
Jas seemed to ponder this for a moment, small fingers playing with the strands of her hair, “can I, Shane?”
“Sure, Jas. Just stay close, okay?”
The kitty owner smiled at their interaction, kneeling down to the ground so that the girl could have easier access to the kitten when she came over.
“Wow, she’s soft. Shane, feel!” Whilst her words were mostly directed towards the taller man, Y/N still felt slightly flattered at the compliment.
Shane, who was sporting his usual blue jacket, kneeled beside Jas, cautiously petting the cat with such care that it seemed like he feared he would break her.
The three of them remained on the ground for a few moments, Jas still as excited as before at the kitten, until an elderly man’s voice caught their attention.
“You must be Y/N,” he grinned. “I’m Lewis, mayor of this town. I see you’ve met Shane and Jas already.”
“I have, it’s a pleasure to meet you all,” Y/N returned his friendly smile, shaking his outstretched hand with pleasure.
“Likewise. I suppose I should get you to your new house, hey?” Lewis chuckled, brown cap falling down his head slightly as he did so.
“I’d appreciate that,”
“Come on, Jas. We should let Lewis show this girl to her new house.” Shane gave Jas a small, almost unnoticeable, smile as they climbed back onto their feet. “Thank you,”
“They were nice,” Y/N commented as the two people from before left.
“They are. That’s Jas and Shane,” Lewis began speaking whilst leading Y/N towards her new home. “Jas is his goddaughter, very shy but talks a lot once she’s out of her shell. And Shane, well there’s more to him than meets the eye, but I’m sure you’ll figure that one out.”
The two of them walked in a comfortable chatter, occasionally being stopped by the townsfolk to either greet the new villager, or to say hi to Lewis who then introduced Y/N to them anyway. Everyone she had spoken to had seemed extremely kind, not having a single rude thing to say to either of them, some aweing at Luna who was now hidden inside the jacket, fast asleep from the long journey.
“Here we are!”
The house in front of her was small, but it was cute and big enough for herself and Luna. She knew that it only had a single bedroom, something that was to be expected considering her situation. The place seemed as though it had been deep cleaned recently, which was likely.
“It’s pretty, I like it.”
Lewis let out a soft hum, handing her the keys to her new place, “I’m glad! I’ll leave you to get settled in! You should try and meet some people tomorrow, everyone here is friendly; I’m sure you’ll get along well with them all.”
“Thank you, Lewis,”
“Anytime!”
*
The house was cosier than she had expected.
The fireplace was already lit, filling the entire place with warmth during the cold weather. In front of the fireplace stood a couch, placed just on top of a blush rug which Luna gladly hopped onto, curling up into a ball, enjoying the fires heat.
“Get some sleep, Luna.”
The kitchen was neatly laid out. Everything was pressed together whilst still maintaining the comfortable feeling of the house. It was clear that this place was cheap. She couldn’t complain, it was perfect for her; away from her old life, tiny yet comfortable, everything about this place screamed ‘perfect’.
The bedroom was larger than expected, a double bed seated in the middle of the room with a cabinet placed at the end of the frame. Other than that, the place was ready for her to make it her own.
Ditching her suitcase on top of the duvet, Y/N grabbed her shower supplies along with some night clothes and headed towards her new bathroom.
“Here’s to a new life,”
*
Early the following morning Y/N rose to the sounds of birds chirping.
Luna was laid asleep beside her, snuggling into the duvet alongside her owner who was doing the exact same. The unexpected noise didn’t startle her, it simply confused her. Having forgot where she was, Y/N was incredibly confused as to why birds were singing in a dull city.
“Wait,” her voice croaked. “We’re in Pelican Town.”
The sound of her owners’ voice seemed to wake Luna from her own slumber, tongue sticking out to lick the human before cuddling into her warmth, the duvet seemingly not as comfortable as her favourite person.
A silent giggle left Y/N’s lips at the kitten’s actions, hands raising from the cover to stroke the dark fur which Luna seemed to enjoy judging by the soft exhale that she let out, something that simply made Y/N continue her actions.
“Morning you little rascal,”
The two lay in bed for a few more moments, the clock soon hitting 7:00 which was when Y/N decided she should, most likely, get ready for the day having planned to go around town and meet some of the others that live here.
As though she sensed the sudden idea to get out of bed, Luna snuggled further into Y/N as silent plea not to leave just yet; to stay and enjoy the warmth and comfort of the creaky oak bed.
“I know you want me to stay, but I need to meet people,” a soft sigh escaped her lips as she spoke. “I promise I’ll bring back some treats, okay?”
The mention of treats alongside a promise seemed to be all the motivation that Luna needed to get up. Her small frame raised itself up from the warm sheets, dropping herself onto the floor with a soft thud, something that earned a giggle from the human.
“Come on, let me get ready then you can have some treats.”
*
“Be good for me, okay Luna?” Were her final words as Y/N left her new home, locking the door behind her.
The ground was layered with autumn-coloured leaves, the sound of them crunching beneath people’s feet being oddly satisfying to those hearing it. The wind blew threw Y/N’s Y/H/C locks, tossing them into her face which caused an annoyed from to coat her lips as she tugged the strands away, back to their original place.
In the distance, a large building could be seen with a sign that simply read ‘Pierres’ above it. Deciding to head there first in search of treats, Y/N took off with a newfound spring in her step. It wasn’t everyday you get to have a new start in a new town now, is it? A chance to be who she wants to be, without anyone saying otherwise; it was perfect.
“Welcome, you must be new here!” A polite man with glasses greeted from behind the counter. “I’m Pierre, owner of the shop. This is my daughter, Abigail,”
“Hey,”
“Please feel free to have a look for anything you need.” Pierre finished once Abigail had also greeted the newcomer, pointing around at various displays and their signs.
“Thank you,” Y/N gave them both a polite smile, immediately heading towards the pet aisle.
“What’re you looking for?” A soft voice startled her, pulling her away from her search for treats. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m Abigail,” The purple-haired girl, now known as Abigail, introduced herself.
“I’m Y/N. I’m just looking for treats for my cat, Luna, I promised I’d bring her some back.” A blush crawled onto her cheeks, embarrassed at admitting how she talks to her cat as though she was a human, despite knowing many do it.
“I’m sure she’s sweet. The treats are just down here!” Abigail said with a smile, the two of them walking down towards the end of the aisle, determined to find Luna some treats. “I always wanted a cat, my dad would never let us though. Shame really.”
“Cats are great, they can be a pain sometimes though,”
“I’m sure they can.”
It wasn’t long until they finally found what they were searching for, Y/N quickly choosing a pack of treats she was sure Luna would like judging by the flavour; all the items in the store being homemade meant she couldn’t get anything that she would usually buy, not that she was complaining,
“If you ever want to come hang out, I’m usually around here somewhere,” with one final smile, Abigail was heading back to her previous place when Y/N had first entered the store.
After paying for her items, Y/N left with one final waves to Abigail.
*
One long walk later, Y/N somehow found herself seated inside the local saloon with her new friend Abigail who had looked for her, inviting her for a drink with herself and a few other of her friends which they were currently waiting for.
“So, Y/N/N,” the use of the nickname made the named blush. “What made you move to a town like this?”
The question made her freeze, drink still raised slightly to her lips; she was certain that the shock was evident on her face.
Having not had time to come up with a perfectly constructed lie, Y/N simply said the first thing to come to mind, “new start I guess.”
“Makes sense. A nice quiet place where nobody knows you, I wish I were able to do that,”
An internal sigh of relief formed inside Y/N’s mind, relieved to have gotten away with such a short and simple answer; it was something she wasn’t used to. In fact, being able to get away with anything was a miracle in itself.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to someday,”
“I have some good friend, but sometimes I want something new, you know?”
Y/N gave a simple nod, completely understanding what she meant.
The saloons comforting warmth floated throughout the room, the background noise being ignored as the two continued to chatter about anything and everything, Y/N blissfully unaware of the gaze of another drinker fixated on her and her friends.
*
A banging head was what Y/N awoke to the following morning, only made worse by the ringing of her alarm clock which she switched off, a disgruntled groan leaving her lips and she did so. The noise simply made the pain in her head worse, a sigh sounding from her once she realised this. The sun shining through the open window also added to the pain.
Luna meowed from beside her, placing her paw on her owner’s face in an attempt of waking her.
“Sorry,” she apologised to the cat. “Want feeding?”
Feet padding across the cold wooden floor, Y/N headed towards the kitchen, both to take some painkillers and to feed Luna.
A smile crawled across her face as Luna sat at her feet, desperate for her food. Chuckling once Luna darted for the food, Y/N decided to finally get some painkillers to ease the banging pain in her head.
The wooden cabinet stood high in the air, too high for the girl to reach.
“Are you kidding me?” She sighed, attempting to jump to the height of the shelf. “I just want some painkillers,”
It took a few minutes for her to finally give up, a sound of defeat echoing throughout the room. Unfortunately, there was only one chair currently and it was plastic, no way anybody could stand on it without it breaking in two. So there was only one option: give up and suffer, at least until she was able to get some.
“Maybe Pierre’s sells some,”
It was a simple decision, her only idea as a matter of fact, and so she decided to head to Pierre’s and hopefully she’d bump into Abigail.
*
The autumn air was chilly yet still retained some type of warmth within. The leaves were, once again, coating the ground with their coloured patterns, blowing away on an adventure throughout the town. Despite the temperature being colder than she would have perhaps liked, Y/N pressed on, desperately praying that the fresh air would provide, at least some, relief to her head.
“Morning, Y/N,” Abigail smiled upon seeing her enter, evidently not as hung over as she was or maybe she just had painkillers, who knows?
“Hi,”
“You look hung over,”
“I am,”
The two continued to talk whilst searching for something to ease the pain.
“I hate to say this, but I think you’ll have to try Joja Mart,” Abigail sighed. “It’s up the road, just past the blacksmiths, you can’t miss it.”
“Oh, thank you.” Y/N gave one last smile as she left, ready to continue her search for what she needed.
*
Joja Mart was just what she was expecting, bold and flashy; everything she hated. Perhaps the hate stemmed from working for companies similar to this, or maybe she had always hated bold and flashy things, perhaps a mixture of the two. Either way, she had no choice but to go inside and find her painkillers.
The inside of the building was just as bad. Spotless and bright with posters plastered all over the walls advertising their own business, despite the customers having been inside their shop already. It was strange to say the least.
Y/N wandered the aisles of the store, searching high and low for any sign of painkillers; sadly, there were none. At least, not until she reached a shelf in the middle of the store that seemed to hold painkillers. Unfortunately for her, somebody was blocking the shelf.
“Excuse me,” her voice was meek. “Could I get some painkillers please?” Despite her pain, Y/N still mustered up a smile for the man, hoping to ease the clear annoyance on his face.
Wordlessly, the worker grabbed a box for her and gave her it before turning his attention back to stacking the shelves.
“Thank you,”
*
Swallowing the pills with a sip of water, Y/N was looking forward to feeling better again.
It was always fun drinking with friends, but the aftermath was not so fun. Despite all this, it was still worth it, at least in her opinion. Spending time with Abigail, Sebastian and the others of their crew was enjoyable, and it was fun to finally be able to let go and be who she wanted to be, who she is, with other people around her. She had thoroughly enjoyed doing so.
It was nearing late afternoon, the sky darkening and the moon replacing the sun that once sat high in the sky. The masses of people around Pelican Town had faded, leaving only a few lone wanderers to explore the territory; quiet and beautiful.
Deciding to remain outside instead of heading home, Y/N wandered to a place she had found yesterday with her friends.
The bridge was long, holding itself above the water with various wooden pillars below the surface. The water itself was a calming blue, moving steadily down the river, moonlight reflecting from the waves.
A content smile crawled onto Y/N’s lips as she took a seat at the end of the bridge, placing her shoes that she had removed whilst walking here on the ground beside her whilst dipping her, now bare, feet into the warmth of the water.
Time passed, the only reason she knew this was having watched sky darken further until it was a deep shade of blue, bordering on black.
“Hey!” A woman’s voice sounded behind her. “You look like you could use a drink, I’m Pam, and this is Shane.”
Looking behind her revealed both a man and a woman.
The woman was shorter than the man, whom she recognised from when she arrived at the bus stop, with short curly hair and a slightly distorted facial expression which Y/N assumed was caused by alcohol.
Shane looked the same as he was her first day there, blue jacket and green t-shirt keeping him warm and the tiniest bit of stubble covering his chin. He seemed slightly unhappy to be here, even more so when Pam flopped down beside Y/N, dragging Shane with her as she offered them both a drink.
“No thank you,” she politely declined the drink that was held out to her.
“More for me then, kid,” Pam’s voice was slurred, the stench of alcohol leaving her open mouth as she spoke. “What brings you here anyway? I know you’re new around here,”
The same question Abigail asked yesterday, why did everyone seem so intrigued by her sudden appearance? Then again, it’s not like you get many new faces in this town from what she had both seen and heard.
Shane’s attention seemed to be caught by this question, ears wide open to hear her answer but gaze fixated on the bottle of beer in his hand.
“Uhm- “hesitation was evident in her tone, something that only piqued the man’s interest. “I needed a new start.” It wasn’t entirely a lie; a new start was desperately needed for her. “Personal stuff I suppose,” she giggled nervously, running her hand through the warm water.
“Sounds about right, hey Shane?”
Shane wordlessly nodded, raising his beer to his lips to take a sip.
The three of them sat in a comfortable silence, the occasional sound if wind blowing through and the clanking of beer hitting wood being the only sounds that could be heard between them. None of them knew how much time had passed, only that it was nearing midnight.
“I should probably get home; my cat will be hungry.” Y/N sighed, lifting her feet from the water and putting her shoes back on.
“Be a darling Shane and walk her home,” Pam smiled at him, chuckling as Shane rolled his eyes in annoyance yet no remarks left his lips, simply standing up alongside Y/N.
“Come on,” Shane muttered, walking down the bridge with Y/N following quickly behind.
The short walk back home was quiet, Shane ignoring her attempts at making conversation, disregarding them along with a rude comment. It’s not that he wanted to be rude to her, she seemed lovely, but he had to.
His behaviour was confusing to say the least, leaving Y/N worried that she had done something wrong. This thought was clearly written on her face, almost making Shane apologise to her, feeling bad for making her doubt herself but alas he didn’t.
“Uhm- thanks Shane,” despite his rude behaviour towards her, she still offered him a smile. “I appreciate it.” And with that, she headed inside her house.
“Yeah, no problem,” Shane whispered once the door had shut behind her.
*
A few weeks had passed, and Y/N was getting along with most of Pelican Towns residents, especially Abigail and Sebastian who she would definitely say are her best friends with Penny being a close second.
Much to her disappointment, Shane was still quite rude towards her which sucked considering that she found him pretty cute.
“He’s like that with everyone he doesn’t know,” Abigail told her. “Don’t take it personally.”
“I guess,”
Despite all this, she was starting to feel safe and at home here in this small town. It was a small step towards her desired future, but it was one that she was proud of. Baby steps.
It was a quiet Saturday morning, Y/N on a usual morning walk to pick up some food for both herself and Luna. This was a routine for her, one she was used to by now. Less than a month ago she had found herself stuck doing everything for her mother, and now everything she did was for herself and her cat, just the way she liked it.
“Morning, Shane,” Y/N gave the dark-haired man a soft smile, watching as he directed his gaze towards the ground.
“Will you just leave me alone,” he snapped, not enjoying the way her smile dropped slightly before swiftly changing back into a bigger one.
“Sure,”
Shane watched with slight guilt as the girl walked away from him, desperately trying not to let his words get to her.
He knew she was nice. She had helped Jas and Marnie quite a bit in her first few weeks here, but he couldn’t let her get close to him. He didn’t want to ruin her innocence and kindness with his harsh and troubled personality, no matter how much he wanted to talk to her.
He couldn’t apologise.
*
More time passed and Shane found himself missing his, albeit small, interactions with Y/N. Instead of wishing him a good morning, she simply ignored him, staying true to her agreement of leaving him alone.
He would watch out for her of course, silently praying that she would say something, anything, to him so that he could politely reply to her. Nothing was said, not to him at least.
The small smiles and touches she shared with Sebastian at the Saloon irked him for some unknown reason. Shane hated the way Sebastian’s hand brushed hers as he handed her the drink that he had just bought her. The mere sight of Y/N and Sebastian together was enough to ruin Shane’s mood for the rest of the day, especially when they were alone together. It was clear Sebastian liked her as more than a friend, but the question was, why did Shane care so much?
*
The dark nights sky hung high above Y/N, the moon shining brightly alongside it to provide at least some light to anyone who may be out this late. It was a relatively clear night, not many stars littering the sky.
She had skipped meeting up with Abigail and Sebastian to instead sit alone, dipping her feet into the water much like she had done a few weeks before.
She was too deep in her thoughts, that she missed the sound of somebody walking down to sit beside her. It wasn’t until they were sat next to her, that she realised.
“Y/N,” they said.
“I thought you didn’t want me to talk to you, Shane.”
Her words made Shane wince. Despite the words seeming harsh, there was no harshness in her voice.
He hesitated for a moment, before doing what needs to be done.
“I’m sorry,” he sighed. “I shouldn’t have said that to you, you were only being kind. There was no reason for me to be so rude, so I apologise.” His own words made him feel uncomfortable, not used to apologising like this.
“It’s okay, I get it. You’re scared of getting close to people, so you push them away,”
Shanes eyes widened at how accurate her deduction on him was; he didn’t know what to say in response.
“I-“
“You don’t have to say anything, Shane. It’s fine, I forgive you.”
Sincerity laced her tone, words being completely truthful. He didn’t know what to do, so instead he watched her. Her gaze was fixated on the night sky, feet gliding through the clear blue water. She looked truly beautiful.
That’s when it clicked inside his head: he likes her.
“I should get going, it’s late.”
Shane watched as she lifted herself up onto her feet, picking up her shoes soon after.
“Wait,” he called when she began to leave. “Let me walk you home?”
*
And that was how their friendship began.
The pair would greet each other each morning, meeting up in the morning to walk together, Shane going to work and Y/N going for her daily walk. In fact, that’s where they were now.
“It’s a bit chilly, isn’t it?” Y/N giggled, wrapping her arms around her bare arms in a vain attempt to avoid the cold winter air.
Shane glanced at her cold frame, shaking his head slightly. “Should’ve worn some clothes then, shouldn’t you?” His words were clearly a joke whilst he laughed, slipping off the blue jacket covering his own arms, gently placing it around her.
The jacket itself was too big for her. The sleeves fell below her hands and the body buried her body; it was comfy.
“T-thanks,” Y/N smiled, praying that the cold weather had made her cheeks red, hiding the blush that had just formed.
“Don’t mention it,” Shane was praying the exact same thing. “Why aren’t you wearing a jacket anyway?”
“I uhm-“unsure as to what to say, Y/N glanced down at the ground, silence filling the air whilst she fiddled with the sleeves on Shane’s jacket.
“Hey, what’s up?” Shane halted his movement, noticing that Y/N had done the exact same.
Nervously, he walked towards her until he was stood in front of her. She remained still. Shaking his head slightly, Shane raised his hand to her chin, tilting her head to face him. “What is it?”
“I’m not supposed to wear them in winter,” her words were rushed as she immediately tried to turn away from his concerned gaze, but to no avail.
“Why?”
“M-my mum told me not to,”
Shane’s eyes widened at her words, finger unconsciously running across her red cheeks. He had no idea what to say to her, no idea how to comfort her; it was clear that she was getting upset. So he did the only thing he could think of and enveloped her in a tight hug, resting his chin on top of her head, enjoying the way her arms wrapped around his body whilst her head rested against his chest. His hand moved from her back to her hair, wordlessly stroking to hopefully provide some comfort.
Neither of them knew how long they stayed there, both just enjoying the others touch.
“You should get to work,” Y/N said, pulling away from his embrace. “You’re probably already late.”
“Being late is worth it as long as you’re okay,”
*
“Hey, Y/N/N!” Sebastian yelled as he saw Y/N outside Pierre’s, looking at the calendar.
“Hey, Seb,” she smiled sweetly towards the man who gladly returned it. “How’s it going?”
“It’s going,” he chuckled. “Hey I’ve been meaning to ask you something!” Despite his attempts at seemingly calm, it was clear that he was nervous.
“Oh? What’s up?”
“Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to go on a date? … With me…”
Surprise covered Y/N’s face, unsure as to how to react.
Sure, he was nice, but she didn’t like him, not like that.
“I, uh-“her sentence was cut short by another man behind her, someone who had clearly heard the question.
“Let’s go, Y/N,”
“Shane?”
Y/N felt Shane’s hand grasp her arm, the gentleness of the grip contrasting the dark look on his face.
“I-okay?”
And with that, the pair left a confused Sebastian behind.
“Shane, are you okay?” Y/N asked once the two were alone. “You’re kind of scaring me,” her hand reached out to Shane, resting itself on his arm.
“Do you like him?” His voice was merely a whisper, gazing at the ground as though he was too afraid to look at her.
“Well yeah, he’s my friend so of course I like him,”
“No, do you like him?”
“Shane? No, I don’t. I like y-“ Y/N’s eyes widened at her words, realising that she had almost confessed to her crush without thinking. “No, I don’t like Sebastian.”
Shane’s eyes glanced towards her, noticing her blushing cheeks.
She was still wearing his jacket; he could feel the sleeve on his bare arm as he melted into her touch. She looked adorable.
“Good,” Shane sighed, stepping closer to Y/N who was simply confused. “Because then we might have a problem,” his hand rested itself on her blushing cheek which darkened further at the contact.
“What do you mean?” It was her time to avoid looking at him, hoping that the blush wouldn’t get any worse. “I mean, it’s not like we’re anything, so why would we have a problem?”
“Because I like you,”
Y/N’s eyes widened at his confession, gaze darting up to the taller man. “You what?”
“I like you, okay? I have for a while now. If you don’t feel the same, just say and I won’t bother you again.”
Y/N stared wordlessly, unsure of what to say to him.
“Got it, I’ll leave you alone,” Shane’s hand dropped from her cheek to his side, slowly walking away.
“Shane,” she called out to him, only to be ignored. “Shane!” This time she ran towards him, taking hold of his hand to spin him around, lifting herself up to his height to connect their lips.
Her spare hand reached up to his neck, pulling him down to her. The faint taste of beer could be tasted on his chapped lips. Shane’s own hand moved to her cheek, melting into the kiss.
“I like you too,” she whispered against his lips once they pulled away.
Shane simply kissed her again.

“She’s so perfect, Sam. Like the way she laughs and the way she makes me feel appreciated. I never thought I would feel this way about someone but wow, here I am!” Sebastian and Sam were standing by the river in front of Sam’s house and Sebastian was smoking while he talked about the woman he liked.
Sam smiled at the happiness Sebastian exuded when talking about this ‘mystery woman’. He knew it was Abigail, but he knew Sebastian wasn’t about to admit it.
“Well Seb, you should ask her out. That way she knows how you feel, and I guarantee she feels the same!” Sam had seen the signs with Abi, so he was sure she felt the same.
Sebastian smiled when he thought about her. He never saw himself falling for a farmer, but she wasn’t always a farmer. When she moved to Pelican Town, he hadn’t been all that keen on becoming friends with her, but she was persistent. So he finally cracked, and they became friends.
“I think I might.” Tomorrow was probably the best day because they were all meeting for a pizza night at Sam’s.
“Good, you deserve to be happy and from what I can see, she likes you too!” Sam clapped a hand onto his friends shoulder.
Sebastians eyes widened. “You know who it is?”
“Of course. You two are so oblivious to think no one else can see it. It’s so cute!” All the while, Sam was under the impression it was Abigail he was talking about, he didn’t suspect it to be the farmer.
“Wow, okay. Well I’m going to do it then.” It wasn’t easy for Sebastian to feel confidence because living in a house with Demetrius for 15 years, sure did a number on him.
“Good! She’s going to love it! If you can find some Amethyst, she will love that!”
“Oh yeah! That’s perfect. I think Maru has some extra amethyst she used for an experiment. She won’t miss it.”
“Great! Oh good luck, man. Although you don’t need it, she will say yes in a heartbeat.” Sam watched as his beat friend snuffed out the cigarette butt with some water.
“This will be good.” He said as he discarded the cigarette into the trash.
“It will!”
****
You felt a bit nervous as you prepared for a pizza night at Sam’s. A flower bouquet sat on the dresser taunting you. The mere thought of giving the bouquet to the desired target made you nervous.
Eight months ago, when you moved to Pelican Town, you met Sebastian the second day here. You had immediately been drawn to him. His darkness appealed to you. It had taken time for him to open up to you but when he did, things really bloomed.
“Tonight is the night we ask him out.” You said as you studied your reflection. A small bark came from Cal, your German Shepard. “Don’t worry, I’m not replacing you, bud.” He whined in reply. “Yes, we can trust Sebastian.” His reply was a positive one.
In the time you had know him, Sebastian was so good at hiding his real emotions from you. But at this point, you felt like there was something more flourishing between the two of you. You were ready to ask him if he actually wanted to explore it. You were nervous but you were also really excited.
Once you were sure you looked good enough, you put the fresh bouquet into your backpack and pet Cal on your way out. Tonight was the night you admitted your feelings to Sebastian. Hopefully, he felt the same, and things would work out for you two.
Of course, you were early to Sam’s house. His parents and his little brother were away in the city for the weekend, so he had the house completely to himself.
“Y/n! You’re here!” Sam pulled you into a warm hug as you entered the house. “You’re the first.”
You giggled. “Of course I am. Well that’s okay. I can help you set up.” You stated as you set the bag gently on the ground by the door.
“Thank you, you’re so sweet. I have mostly everything ready, I am just waiting for the pizza, which Penny said she would pick up on her way over. She will be leaving soon, once she makes sure Pam doesn’t go out to the Saloon again.” Sam said it but you both knew Pam would still go to the Saloon no matter what. She poured all her problems into alcohol and everyone knew it.
“Nice. I guess Sebastian and Abigail will be coming shortly?” Your eyes lit up when you said Sebastian, but Sam didn’t catch it.
“Oh yes. Sebastian is finally going to tell her he likes her. Finally after all this time, he’s going to admit it to her. It’s going to be adorable.” He blabbered and your heart skipped a beat.
“Wait. Sebastian likes Abigail?” You were trying your best not to let the hurt seep through.
Sam smiled. “Of course he does. They are perfect for each other. He was just telling me how much he liked her two days ago. He was going on and on about how perfect she is for him and how she makes him feel appreciated. It was so cute.”
Inside, you felt your heart cracking. Your chest suddenly felt tight when you thought about it. It truly felt like you were going to crack into several pieces right there. Of course Sebastian likes Abigail. Why wouldn’t he? They have known each other for years and she really was perfect for him. How could you have ever thought anything would happen between the two of you?
“Hey, are you okay? You look pale.”
“Um, yeah. I am okay.” You tried to even your breathing, but it was getting harder by the second.
Sam’s phone buzzed in his hand. “Oh Sebastian is almost here. He’s bringing some beer.”
You tuned out what Sam was saying as your brain tried to understand what was happening. “Actually, I’m going to head home. I suddenly don’t feel particularly good. I think I worked to hard in the sun today.”
His eyes looked up at you and he frowned. “Oh no. We told you that you were working to hard. Do you want me to walk you home?”
“No, I will be okay. Enjoy the night.” You were quick to grab your bag and sling it over your shoulder. “Bye Sam.” With that, you rushed out the door, eager to get away from anyone who you didn’t want to see you break down. You rushed off towards Marnie’s farm, to access your farm through the dirt path there.
By the time you were covered by the dark, you felt the wet tears flowing down your face. ‘Stupid. I am so stupid for thinking I even had a chance. Sebastian would never see me that.’ You berated yourself as you walked. You made it to your farm and walked through the thick trees you had yet to clear from the land. Once you were walking up the steps to the farmhouse, you felt completely defeated.
Cal was at your feet the second you unlocked the door. He could tell you were upset, and he didn’t like it. “It’s okay Cal, I just got my hopes up for nothing.”
You set the backpack on the small dining table and opened it, removing the bouquet and throwing it into the sink. You would dispose of it tomorrow. Next you opened the chest where you kept your swords, you decided that instead of sitting at home and crying, you would go to the mines and cry.
“I’ll be okay, Cal. I just need to get my frustrations out at the mines. I will be back in a few hours.” You pet his head and he panted in complete love at the attention you gave him. “I love you, buddy.” You leaned down and kissed his nose. Then you fastened the sword to your back and filled your backpack with a water bottle and some snacks. Your pickaxe hung from the backpack.
The walk to the mines was quick and by the time you reached the elevator, it was 9:00. You would have several hours to explore tonight before you had to be home. You were still pretty emotional, but the crying had stopped on the walk over. Entering the elevator, you went down to level 70. You had been working hard in the mines but hadn’t reached the bottom of the mines yet.
Just last week, you first encountered the skeletons. They took you off guard when you first saw them, but you quickly learned the best way to defeat them. You stepped out on level 70, taking out your pickaxe to begin the plight of smashing rocks and fighting odd creatures that dwelled in the mine.

Sebastian was feeling happy when he walked into Sam’s house, because he was so excited to talk to Y/n and admit his feelings. He was finally ready to take the next step and he hoped you were ready too. He was quite sure you were, but he was still nervous.
“Sebastian, good to see you. Thanks for the beer, you bought the good stuff.” Sam said while taking the case of beer from his best friend.
“You know I only provide the best for my friends.”
“Oh I do. We are grateful for it. Like really grateful. I think Abigail said she was able to score some weed when she was in the city last weekend with her dad. So more fun.” He set the beer on the coffee table.
“Really? Than this is a full out party, huh?”
“You bet. I mean we do have some celebrating to do, when you tell your girl you like her. So we have plenty of options.”
“We sure do. Oh I am nervous.” Sebastian said.
Sam turned to him. “Yo man, you have nothing to be nervous about. I already told you that she for sure likes you. Just calm down and let the night happen.”
“Okay, I will try.”
The door opened and in walked Penny followed by Abigail. “Look who I ran in to on the way over.” Abi said taking a pizza box from Penny.
“Perfect, I am dying for some pizza.” Sam then promptly took the box from Abi and opened it, grabbing a slice immediately.
“Oh Seb, you got the best beer! Yes, I always knew I could trust you.” Abigail hugged Sebastian and he hugged her back. Sam was watching the two of them with a strange smile on his face. Penny nudged his side and made him stop.
“You can trust him alright. Now did you bring the weed?” Sam motioned to Abi’s bag.
“I sure did. Let’s have some fun.” She opened the bag and dropped a pretty substantial amount of weed on the table. Penny looked away in embarrassment, not liking the idea of drinking and doing drugs but she came for Sam.
Abi set up the weed, while Sam passed a beer to everyone and opened the pizza boxes. Sebastian kept glancing to the door, waiting for you to come in but the later it got, he started to realize something wasn’t right.
“Dude, you haven’t touched your pizza. Why is that?” Sam was the first to notice how distant he was, and he wasn’t going to let him mope and ruin their night.
“I uh, have a lot on my mind.”
He suddenly looked like he understood. “Oh, then maybe you and Abi should go for a walk and talk. It’s the perfect time.”
Sebastian cocked his head. “Perfect time for what?”
“Dude, you know what I’m talking about. Do it now and you will feel better.”
“Do what?” Then it hit him. Sam was under the impression that the woman he had been talking about was Abigail. Suddenly it made all the sense in the world. “Sam you have it all wrong.” Now Sebastian needed to know where Y/n was. “Why is Y/n still not here?”
Sam laughed. “She overworked herself. Seriously, you are so thick headed. Abigail, Sebastian likes you and wants to be with you.”
Sebastian groaned and buried his head into his hands, while Abigail scowled at Sam. She knew about Sebastian liking the farmer, because she got it out of him a few months back. So of course she knew this wasn’t true. But also, Sebastian was the only one who knew Abigail fully, so of course Sam was putting the two of them together.
“Sam, you’re an idiot.” Abigail growled.
“What? Why?”
“Sebastian doesn’t like me you, dumbass. Not at all.”
“How? You’re the only girl I ever see him with. Wait, shit. Y/n. Fuck, you were talking about Y/n?” Sam slapped his forehead in complete frustration.
“Yes I was, Sam. Abigail and I are friends. You really thought I was talking about her?” Sebastian felt mad but he also needed to clear this up.
“Yes, I mean how could I not. You two are like the exact same!”
Penny was covering her mouth as she watched the exchange.
“Sam, fuck, I’m not straight. I didn’t tell you because I know you have a huge mouth that you can’t ever shut but Sebastian knows. So of course him and I would never work. We’re more like siblings than anything else.” Abi explained while Sam’s eyes went wide.
“Oh. I’m sorry Abigail. I didn’t mean to push. Shit, I am the biggest idiot.”
“You are.” Abi’s teeth were clenched.
“No, I am much worse. Y/n was here.” He clarified.
Sebastian looked up at the blonde. “Wait, she was actually here?”
Sam nodded solemnly. “She was and she was so happy until I said Sebastian was going to ask Abigail out. She went pale and she left quickly after that.”
“You really are a fucking idiot, Sam. She likes Sebastian and you just broke her heart by telling her he liked me. What the hell!” Abigail was pissed, because she didn’t want Y/n to hate her, and she also didn’t want Y/n to believe what Sam had said.
“Look, I’m sorry. How was I supposed to know. Sebastian never said a name and I didn’t think he was talking about her. You made the most sense in this situation.” He tried to defend himself, but Abi was already marching over to punch him. Sebastian grabbed her before she could.
“No, let’s not punch him. Just let him feel guilty. I’m going to go see if I can talk to her right now. Let’s hope she listens to me and that you haven’t completely messed it up for me.” Sebastian glared at Sam before he quickly left the house. He took the path beside Sam’s house, that led up to the stone walkway that would lead right to your farm. He was practically running.
When he arrived, he saw all of the lights out and cursed to himself. He knocked on the door but heard nothing. He knocked some more, before he decided to go to the back and see if you were home. His fear was confirmed when he saw nothing in the moonlight that spilled into your bedroom. You were not home.
He pulled his phone out and dialed your number. His heart dropped when he heard it ringing from inside. You left without your phone. He took a seat on the steps before a large German Shepard came from the fields and bounded up to him, whining for attention.
“Cal, where did she go?” Then he laughed at himself when he realized the dog wouldn’t be able to respond to him. Cal just rubbed his head against Sebastian leg before laying next to him on the porch. His only option was to sit and wait for you to come home from wherever you were. Given it was nearly 11 at night, so he knew you would be back soon enough.
****
It was a horrible idea to go to the mines when you were upset. Your focus was so off, and you made it easy for the mine creatures to attack you.
A skeleton quickly threw you back into the stone walls almost as soon as you entered the mine, the force had knocked the wind from you.
Later, a blue gray slime attacked, using it’s stun on you. Normally slimes were easy but this one was double the size of a normal slime. It took a lot to fend off the slime.
Then when you finally reached level 75, a cauldron of bats attacked, knocking your sword from your hands. You used the pickaxe to swat them away while you went for the sword. But several slammed into your head, digging their claws in. This caused a big gash below your left eye and another above your right eye near your hairline.
You called it a night after that and booked it to the elevator. Once you reached the surface, the weight of the events in the mine hit you head on as you felt the pain throughout your body.
It felt like the longest walk ever, going back to the farmhouse but you let out a breath when you saw it come into view. But your heart stopped when you saw a tall figure lying on your porch with your dog snuggled beside them.
You drew your sword and silently moved closer to them, not letting your guard down. They glanced up to see you and jumped up in complete surprise.
“Whoa Y/n, don’t stab me! It’s Sebastian!” He held his hands up in surrender.
You quickly dropped the sword to the ground. “What the hell are you doing here, it’s almost 1 am!” Cal jumped up and bounded over to you, happy you were home.
“Can we uh, talk inside?” He asked looking around in the darkness.
“Yeah.” You picked up the sword and ascended the steps before unlocking the door and flicking the lights on. Sebastian was behind you.
He shut the door behind you as you dropped the sword by the door to deal with later. “How long were you waiting?” You asked.
“Since 11.” His eyes went wide when he saw the cuts on your face. “What the hell happened?”
“Oh uh, the monsters won tonight.” Despite trying to play it off, you were thoroughly unsettled by how the night went. “Also, you waited outside for two hours?”
“I did. I really have to talk to you, but I need to clean up those injuries, they look bad.”
“It looks worse than it is.” This was a clear lie.
“No Y/n, baby, don’t do that. It’s okay to admit you’re not okay.” His voice was soft and calming now.
This was all it took before the tears were rushing out and you felt like collapsing to the floor. Sebastian saw this and caught you before you could fall. He picked you up and carried you toward the bedroom and bathroom. He sat you in the armchair by the bathroom door.
“Let me grab the first aide kit and a warm towel. I will clean you up and bandage what I can.” He said and you nodded before wiping the tears from your eyes. Sebastian was being so sweet to you.
He returned with the towel in hand. He bent down in front of you and started to gingerly clean up the cuts, you winced but let him do it. Once they were clean, he started bandage the ones on your face.
“Those monsters really got you, damn.” He whispered as he studied your face.
“Just a little.” You joked.
Sebastian stood up to put the towel in the hamper and the first aide kit back in the bathroom. “Just a little she says as I can literally see bruises forming all over her body.”
He was right. The soreness was becoming more apparent as the minutes ticked by. “Okay, so I fucked up.”
Seb shook his head. “No, you did not fuck up. I am going to blame Sam for this.”
You cocked your head. “Huh, why is Sam to blame for me going to the mines?”
“Because he told you I liked Abigail.” He said simply.
The ill feelings returned. “Oh that is nothing. I hope it went well for you two.”
“Well I don’t like her the way Sam assumed and she’s not into men, so that would not work.” He explained while helping you up from the chair. “Let’s get some comfortable clothes for you.”
You nodded. “Wait, so Sam was wrong about you liking her?”
“Completely wrong. She’s always strictly been a sister to me but for some reason Sam thought we were more.” Sebastian clenched his fists when he thought about it.
“Okay, then who was the girl you were talking about?” You had managed to find some pj’s in the dresser while Sebastian stayed next to you, to make sure you didn’t fall or get hurt again.
“Y/n, isn’t it obvious?”
“No.”
“Surely you know I like you, a lot. In fact, I was going to ask you out at Sam’s. Before he decided to open his mouth and make assumptions.”
“You were going to ask me out?” Those were the words that had stuck out to you.
“Yes, I was and I still am. Y/n, will you be my girlfriend? You’re the only woman whose ever made me feel so appreciate.” His words were so soft.
“Follow me.” You said taking his hand and leading him toward the kitchen. He looked confused until you picked up the bouquet from the sink. “I was going to ask you out as well. Someone told me that giving the one you like a bouquet was the best way to ask them out.”
Sebastian smiled and took the bouquet. “I accept.” He then pulled you close and sealed it all with a kiss. One that took your breath away.
“So this means I get to call you my boyfriend, right?” You had a smile on your face as you asked.
He looked just as happy. “Yes it does. I am completely yours baby.” Once again his lips found yours in a deep kiss that made you feel as though you were floating in the clouds.
“Can you stay the night?” You asked softly, not wanting him to leave just yet. Not so soon after admitting your feelings for each other.
“Of course I can. Someone has to be here to make sure you’re okay in the morning.” He teased.
“I will be fine.” But you actually weren’t so sure.
Sebastian took your hand in his and led you back to the bedroom. “I think you’re going to be very sore tomorrow.” He stated.
“You’re right. I will.” You grabbed the pj’s off the dresser. “Here I have some pj pants that will fit you.” You grabbed them and handed them to him.
“Thank you.”
“Always, boyfriend.” Seb’s cheeks went pink and it was the cutest thing.
“My girlfriend is so beautiful.” He said as you walked to the bathroom. You turned to give him a wink before disappearing into the small room.
**
You and Sebastian were curled up together on your bed, just listening to each other’s heartbeats. It was an extremely calming activity that you never knew you needed. It felt like this alone could heal you.
At some point, you both drifted off to sleep in each others arms. It was the sweetest thing. You felt that you had the best sleep in a long tome with Sebastian pressed up next to you.
When morning came, you heard the calming sound of rain hitting the roof. You lived for rainy days because it meant you didn’t have to spend a lot of time watering the crops. Today that would be useful because you were so sore after yesterday.
“How are you feeling today, baby?” Sebastian’s soft morning voice asked, while pushing some hair from your face.
You turned to look at him and smiled at how adorable he was. But his hair was wet. “You were right last night, I am very sore. Why is your hair wet?”
“I went out to feed the animals. I also made sure the crops were good. Cal assisted me and well, he got more water than I did.” Seb laughed and it made you feel blissfully happy.
“You fed my animals? That’s so sweet. Thank you, Sebby.” You leaned up to kiss him, but he met you halfway, so you wouldn’t have to do too much work.
“It was the least I could do. I will happily help you whenever you need it.”
“I’m so lucky to have you.” You honestly didn’t know how you got lucky enough to meet Sebastian, but you could probably thank your grandfather.
Sebastian looked as happy as you felt. “It’s the same for me.” He then buried his face into your neck, just holding you and enjoying the moment. This was how you spent the rest of the day. Cuddled up into each other, in bed.
**
A week later, you had healed enough to be okay with leaving the house. Sebastian wanted you to come to the Friday night saloon ritual, because he wanted to show you off and he also wanted to make Sam apologize for being a dumbass.
“You look beautiful.” Sebastian said as you locked the farmhouse doors.
You smiled and looked at your boyfriend. “You look pretty good yourself.”
“Pretty good, huh?” He quipped.
“Alright, you look so good to me.” You cracked a smile as he pulled you in for a kiss.
“Are you ready for this, because going to the saloon together means everyone will know we’re together.” He said as you both walked into town.
“I’m ready Sebastian. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I like you and I’m extremely happy to call you mine.” You squeezed his hand as you said this.
“I’m also incredibly happy to call you mine. Let’s do this.” He looked happy about this.
The two of you walked up the path that led to the saloon. In no time, you reached the place and were walking up the stairs hand in hand. As you entered the saloon, you felt like everyone was watching you.
Robin was the first to notice and actually say something. “Sebby, does this mean what I think it does?” She asked as you both stopped in front of her and Demetrius.
“Yes, meet my girlfriend, Y/n.” Robin was ecstatic. She pulled you both into a hug. Demetrius just stood silently watching the two of you.
“What do you see in him, Y/n. He does nothing but play video games in his room all day.” Demetrius sneered.
Your blood boiled. “You clearly don’t know Sebastian at all. He has a job and that’s what he does in his room. I like him a lot and I will defend him. So if you have nothing nice to say about him or us, I suggest you leave it alone.” It was a wonder how you didn’t scream this.
Sebastian felt like he was falling deeper for you, after seeing you stand up for him like that. You had started to lead him away from there when he stopped you and kissed you right there, in front of everyone.
The two of you entered the arcade room together. Abigail and Sam were already there.
“Look, oh my god! It’s official!” Abigail cheered as Sam looked up from the Joja vending machine.
He looked toward us sheepishly, still feeling angry at himself for what happened last week. “Hi guys. I am glad to see things worked out.” He said to them.
“Yeah, no thanks to you.” Sebastian teased.
“I know. I’m sorry, I am the biggest idiot.”
You shook your head. “Hey Sam, please don’t blame yourself. It happened and we recovered. Let’s move on and forget the bad?”
“Sure, I can do that.” Sam seem relieved to know you weren’t mad at him.
“Damn, I knew there was a reason why I liked you.” Sebastian whispered into your ear, making you smile. Everything felt right and you couldn’t wait to see what the future held.
