So I've been teaching people IRL how to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e for around 4 years now, and I've finally decided to start hosting online classes through startplaying.games! If you want a face-to-face (well, discord video call) meeting with an experienced player who can help you get started, you're in the right place!

Why learn to play with me?

I have a lot of experience teaching people of all experience levels, including no experience!

You don't need any materials, except a device to access the class, a discord account, and an account on startplaying.games! I provide everything for you (including a bunch of cheat-sheets and handouts for making the whole process easier).

Learn how to make a character! A lot of introductions to D&D start you with a pre-generated character, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it means you have to figure that part out on your own later. Since I think making your own character is part of the fun, I'll walk you through the whole process and teach you important mechanics along the way, making jumping into a game much easier!

Get one-on-one help and immediately have questions answered by a friendly, patient, and queer-inclusive DM! Classes are held through discord as a small group and are not pre-recorded.

Get introduced to the game in a safe, low-pressure environment with no pressure to do anything you're not ready for. Not ready to jump into roleplay immediately? No problem! Worried you'll have a hard time picking up mechanics? No sweat! I'm ready to work with you and help however I can.

Do you like the Ravenloft setting but feel like the 5e system doesnt do horror very well? I agree, hows your wednesdays? well over -> here <- you can join my more old school style campaign using the low magic swashbuckling Dragonbane ruleset (also a good way to learn the system if youre interested in OSR stuff, its very simple!)

About the adventure

Steel clashes on the streets under night skies and the mists bear sole witness to dark deeds. Darkon is a kingdom of lies and secrets, kept under the fist of the wizard king Azalin— but even his control is not absolute, and for those of daring disposition there are great rewards for the taking. This is a player-driven game of swashbuckling adventure and mystery set against a gothic horror background, based on older iterations of the Ravenloft setting with a classic sword and sorcery ambience using the Dragonbane rules.

Yo, I dont know if any of yall would be into this, but I am starting to run D&D and other such games on a website called StartPlaying.Games. They are paid for and professional games, so I understand that it is not for everyone, but I have nearly a decade of experience, so I will work hard to make the game worth the cost!

I run a lot of player-driven narrative stories and improv focused sitcom-like episodic games. I have experience running epic year's long campaigns, as well as short improv comedy oneshots. HELLO TUMBLR! ARE YOU ANGRY ABOUT THE STATE OF AMERICAN POLITICS? WOULD YOU LIKE A PRODUCTIVE OUTLET?

For 20$ a session, take part in an urban fantasy story taking place in Washington DC, dealing with hauntings both literal and metaphorical. Hunt ghosts, kill cops (FICTIONALLY), discover what the people in power are, and aren't, doing about the supernatural threat. All politicians and political figures will be fictional and so is the story, but the session's run a queer storyteller, and will not shy away from the evils of people in power, and the ghosts they leave behind.

All that said-- this is a trauma informed narrative, run by a creator with PTSD. We will be doing safety methods and respecting triggers at the table, and all narratives dealing with violence will be handled with respect.

DND 5e HOMEBREW, RP Heavy

THURSDAYS 11am PST / 2pm EST / 6pm GMT

The Isle of Kings, known for its many kingdoms that have been allied in peace for a long long time, senses catastrophe on the horizon. Luckily their ancestors had plans for when champions were needed. An ancestor of each of the original kingdom's royal families had a special weapon crafted for their descendants to use in time of need. These weapons of incredible power were hidden deep beneath the kingdoms in the bowels of the isle, and only their kin can find the way and open the path.

You are all descendants of those royals - be it still part of the current royal family, deposed and living in hiding, or living a blissfully normal life having no clue who you are descended from. You are called upon by the central kingdom, whose young king and his elder princess sister inform you that you are the one to inherit your kingdom's great weapon in the coming time of need, and that he wishes to band together to retrieve these weapons as allies, and for safety. For there are those who believe they deserve these weapons and will interfere.

The game would be a healthy mix of political intrigue, exploring each character's backstory/kingdom (ie going to the zora's domain before you do the dungeon), and a small "dungeon crawl" to wrap up that character's/kingdom's arc. i say "dungeon crawl" because it's my game and well. you know there's gonna be more rp, and plenty of chances to rest and talk, etc.

Each character will receive an incredibly powerful weapon at the end of their arc, but won't have access to it without consequences. It is meant to be an endgame weapon in design, and will take a great toll on you once used. That being said, you CAN absolutely use it. You would also be more than welcome to help shape your character's kingdom and how it's history has changed it, politically, culturally, and physically. Or you can leave it in my hands. (: Currently, each of the 8 kingdoms has inspirations from different cultures and ethnic groups of Asia, without being shitty stereotypes or caricatures.

Additional note: I know how stupid the name is but hear me out. While I was spitballing name ideas, I noticed the acronym for Champions of King is CoK. I, having the sense of humor of a 12yo, stuck with it.
