i reorganized my living writer folders and made one dedicated to wips so that they’re all in one place and not split across character folders.

this helped me realize i have 22 wips 😵‍💫 explains why i take forever to finish. ANWAYSSSSS here’s what we’re workin’ with lately.

all this to say i’m alive, i’m writing at a snail pace, and i love you all.

Seeing all these pretty pretty pictures of Glen Powell...

Hollywood actor Jake Seresin and stunt coordinator Bradley Bradshaw... sparks flying because Jake insists on doing some risky stunts and Bradley's been told to 'protect the talent'.

Quite frankly, while he wouldn't mind fucking the talent, but the talent can actually fuck off when it comes to risking his life and Bradley's professional integrity. They butt heads.

Of course Bradley keeps Jake safe, and Jake has a massive crush (and competency kink he had no idea he had, but he's had something of an awakening). (Do they hook up? I don't know. I never know in my fics until the characters tell me TBH).

Next movie doesn't require a stunt coordinator and Jake misses Bradley and he has his whole oh shit moment of maybe he liked the guy more than he thought...

State of the WIP Address

I haven't been tumbling the past few days just due to madness happening all at once--an evening work meetings, applying for a show in the fall, landing another gig this summer, turning down one in between, planning two different trips at the same time, coordinating talent for our annual fundraiser, getting up ungodly early (8am? who does this) for other meetings and adding that to my pile of daylights savings messing with my sleep and sending me to bed earlier than usual.... And I'm going to be at a conference (a witch conference!) this weekend, so I wanted to get some things squared at home and finish a commissioned altarpiece for someone I'm going to be talking to there. Hence me also posting this on a Thursday when I'd rather do Fridays......

Madness. And it's only Thursday.

Completed this week: nothing. But I have been writing....

My goal for this piece, in addition to playing with patterns and textures and adding some Naruto references, was to add as many death flags as possible.

The idea of having Izuna in a fireman's coat is obviously not from me. I've always like the idea of Uchihas in fire resistant clothes, and the opportunity for a thick texture alongside a reversible double pattern is very appealing. I used the image of the second reference as a base, with skulls on one side and stylized lightning patterns on the other (visible inside the sleeves and collar). Both were common immagery of firemen coats.

The actual skull pattern is taken from the third reference. I'd seen this one before and before even learning anything abt it it was too beautiful to pass up. Those white and navy gradients are absolutely delightful and I enjoyed using my gel pens for them very much.... This particular type of imagery with skulls and bones in a field is called Nozarashi, inspired by Buddhist representation of death and transience.

The lightning pattern itself is a reference to water and lightning dragons :) Like Tobirama's iconic jutsu, it's one of the hints of what's abt to happen to our little guy. The scabbard is also decorated with dragon motifs for the same reason.

The background pattern is taken from the first reference, another fireman's coat with an illustration of Raijin, the thunder god. He is often representated with drums decorated with tomoes. It works nicely as a standard looking sharingan illustration, with a reference to Tobirama's hiraishingiris with the thunder imagery, like the thunder patterns inside the coat.

If you're interested in this I recommend the book linked in the second reference! It is entirely about skeleton motifs in japanese clothing of the early 20th century.

Art Wip Game

@artisticallyill you asked about the Battle Cody & Obi so here it is

This one is definitely a bad name. While technically accurate, it's not the defining thing about this. Battle Cody & Obi is the name of my drawing that is my Codywan FMAB AU. Truly the title says nothing, and idk what i was thinking when i named the drawing but it's my fmab au

Here's it is so far:

In this au, the jedi are the state alchemists, Obi-Wan is a general and a state alchemist and a highly revered one but I don't know what his alchemy specialization is yet. Cody is his right hand who watches his back and has several big guns and people are scared of him.

I imagine this drawing to be them fighting Maul, who would absolutely just set a bunch of things on fire, not even with alchemy but with straight up matches cuz he's petty like that and Cody and Obi-Wan are trapped by the fire and waiting to see where he strikes next.

When I was ideating this, I realized that their dynamic is already pretty similar to Mustang and Hawkeye, especially with the "we can't date cuz you're my superior officer/subordinate" and the "i will flirt with others as a tactical move but it's fake and the real adoration only comes out with you"
