Miquella and Griffith: Why the comparisons make no damn sense
So instead of me screaming to the sky, "Waah Miquella is Griffith theories make me so mad grrrr I hate them so much" I've decided that I'm going to do an analysis between the two characters and dissect why the comparisons and Giffiths influence on Miquella makes absolutely no damn sense.
So first and foremost, warning: I will be talking about and spoiling Berserk, so if you wanna read it for yourself then steer clear of this analysis
Tumblr media
So to start off let's discuss Griffith and his character/motivations in Berserks story: Griffiths whole goal from childhood was to establish his own country, his own paradise and to achieve that goal he first established his own mercenary group The Band of the Hawk. Griffith was beautiful and charismatic and the people who were apart of his band all looked up to Griffith and admired him, placing all of their hopes and faith into him and his dream.
But as the story goes on Griffith hits an all time low point, and after essentially being tortured for a year, which makes him emaciated, weak and practically crippled for life, all of Griffiths dreams seem like an utter impossibility as he is left as nothing more than a shadow of his former self.
That is until he decides to cast everything aside to become a God.
And by cast everything aside I mean that he betrays his companions, his Band of the Hawk, and sacrifices their lives to untold evils in what is absolutely the most genuinely horrific and unsettling imagery I have ever seen from a work of fiction in my entire life.
(Going off topic but I cannot stress this enough that if you decide to read Berserk understand that the violence shown pulls no punches with its depictions and involves both heavy gore and sexual violence. Especially the sexual violence)
Anyway, what makes the Band of the Hawks sacrifice so jarring is that these people all loved Griffith. They adored him. Backed him every step of the way and were the ones to go and rescue him as he was being tortured, and they all mourned the pitiful state that he was in when they found him. But regardless they STILL tried to be hopeful for Griffiths sake.
The Band of the Hawk loved Griffith and that is why Griffiths betrayal of them hits so hard and is why Griffith is known as one of the most evil characters in fiction.
And all of these reasons are precisely why Griffith is such a good and compelling character.
From the beginning of Griffiths introduction you could tell that something was... off about him. But at the same time his charisma and big ambitions painted him in a sympathetic light and you rooted for Griffith. But as the story went on you could see how Griffith was going deeper and deeper into the darkness and, quite frankly, his subsequent torture is entirely his own fault because he made several stupid and completely avoidable choices.
And it's all because Griffith at his core is selfish.
And it's for exactly these reasons why it's so baffling to me that so many people believe that Miquella is going to be just as evil, or worse, than Griffith.
Because in truth unlike Griffith, Miquella is not selfish.
Tumblr media
The main problem that I have with the Miquella is Griffith comparisons is that all of those theories hinge entirely on the Bewitching Branch item description, and so many people have gone out of their way to spin Miquellas ability to compel affection as definitive proof that he is manipulative and evil, meanwhile conveniently ignoring everything else that Miquella has done in the lore.
So for a single moment, let's pretend that the Bewitching Branch does not exist and take a look at all the other lore that surrounds Miquella:
Miquella has dedicated most of his life to curing Malenia, his twin sister, of her crippling disease, and has even crafted prosthetics for her as well as an entirely new type of God Repellent Metal, which can halt the effects of said disease
He was a Golden Order Fundamentalist but ultimately abandoned it because it could not cure Malenias sickness
He created a Haven for those who are outcasts in the eyes of the most dominating and repressive Order in the Lands Between
He watered said Haven/the Haligtree with his own blood so it could grow into something that could rival the Erdtree
He used his identity as St. Trina to sing to and ease those who have been afflicted by the Frenzied Flame
There are several statues that depict Miquella and Malenia embracing eachother, 1 in Altus in an area dubbed Miquellas Hideaway and several all over the Haligtree. The fact that this statue is the dominant imagery found at the Haligtree really hammers in the fact that the twins love eachother, and that the Haligtree isn't just Miquella's, but Malenias home as well
He also has a clear affection/love for his brother Godwyn as the statue at the Haligtree depicts him embracing his siblings and even created a sword to commemorate Godwyns death and prayed for him to Die a True Death.
The soldiers of the Haligtree came across a bitter revelation as they await Miquella(presumably they feel immense guilt for being unable to protect their Lord) and explode with light, which they hope will guide Miquellas return and no Miquella did not put the light in them to make them explode there is absolutely zero proof of that, looking at you vaati
And now to be fair, lets get into the comparisons that are shared between the Griffith and Miquella:
Both are highly charismatic and beautiful individuals to the point where both Griffith and Miquella are mistaken for being girls.
The Eclispe imagery. For Griffith the Eclipse is what allows him to ascend to Godhood(after sacrificing the people who love him) and for Miquella the Eclipse is presumably how they are trying to resurrect Godwyn (Miquellas plans for the Eclipse are mostly unknown/vague at this point)
The Egg. Griffith and Miquella both go through a type of metamorphosis involving being encased in a cocoon/egg.
And honestly that's kinda it. The straight comparisons between the two are highly lacking and purely thematic in my opinion, especially when you consider everything else going on between their respective characters.
So to summarize, the good things that Miquella has done outweighs the bad and that is why Miquella is, in actuality, the exact opposite of Griffith. Unlike Griffith who is selfish, Elden Ring canon points to Miquella being a compassionate and loving individual, and if anything, he is a complete inversion to Griffiths character.
With the points listed above a majority of the in game text highly suggests that Miquella is kind and altruistic, and with the newest text regarding Miquella in the DLC:
Tumblr media
Points to Miquella potentially being selfless and self-sacrificial.
And also, I've seen several people argue that Miquella wants to become a God so he can create his own utopia/Falconia like Griffith did. And I'm like.... Uuuum okay well, there is a big problem with that argument along with an elephant in the room that's being completely ignored, and that is the fact that Miquella has already created his utopia/Falconia with the Haligtree and Elphael.
So as of this moment Miquellas exact goals are completely unknown, what he is doing in the World of Shadow cannot be determined until the DLC arrives. But my point remains that so many people seem to think that Miquella will be evil based off of, in my opinion, evidence that is completely lacking in substance, along with the pervasive belief that since Elden Ring has drawn inspiration from Berserk/Griffith it means that Miquella will end up as a similar type of evil character as Griffith, all while ignoring the things that Miquella has done in canon that sets him apart as his own character.
So I've said my piece and what I believe in, so I'm just going to leave this analysis with this last statement:
The good that Miquella has done and committed himself too in the Lands Between completely outweighs the singular implied evil of the Bewitching Branch.

Soulsborne games are the gayest thing on Earth
We all love to talk smack about AAA studios doing queer rep wrong, but FromSoft actually gets what's up. Dark Sun Gwyndolin? Genderfuck and proud.
Tumblr media
Darkmoon Knightess? In lesbians with Gwyndolin.
Tumblr media
Chaos Witch Quelaag? Yes.
Tumblr media
Lucatiel of Mirrah? She will be missed...
Tumblr media
Sirris of the Sunless Realms? Point me to one straight woman who dresses like that.
Tumblr media
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower? You try and tell me whether there's any heterosexual explanation for her cutscene.
Tumblr media
Emma the Gentle Blade? Yeah, she can gently step on me.
Tumblr media
Melina? She sticks with you throughout pretty much the entire journey and gives you her ride as a welcoming gift.
Tumblr media
Ranni the Witch? You can (and should) marry her.
Tumblr media
Malenia, Blade of Miquella? You will witness true beauty.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: women are fucking awesome and so are Soulsborne games. Be gay for women.

I had to make a BIG post going over everything that's got my brain whirring after watching the story trailer - it's all my speculation and personal opinion so don't take it as fact yada yada IT'S FUN SPECULATION TIME
(I'll put it under the cut bc this is gonna be a LONG one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Miquella the kind spoke of the beginning. The seduction. And the betrayal. An affair from which Gold arose. And so too was Shadow born."
My interpretation of this scene is that we are seeing the creation of the Golden Order by Marika. She plucks grace from something dead and fleshy, and holds it up to the Greater Will, beckoning in her new age. It would make sense to me, considering the voiceover, that this is a dead god that has been betrayed by Marika so she can pursue her Order and claim power. It does like quite reminiscent of Kos from Bloodborne to me. The fleshiness of the corpse also reminds me of the godskins/snakeskin. However, I don't believe this is the Gloam Eyed Queen. From my understanding of the timeline (mainly thanks to @eldenringslut) the GEQ didn't come about until later on during Marika's reign - if we are seeing the creation of the GO, and my understanding of the timeline is correct, I don't think it would make sense for this to be the GEQ. I can't deny different aspects of this do allude to things related to her though - the dusky sky, the godskin-like flesh. But I almost think that would be too 'perfect' for it to fit together like that, especially with how much people want to know more about the GEQ, I think fromsoft would want to keep us in the dark and surprise us. Whatever we are seeing here, Gold and Shadow seemingly came about at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get our first look at what appears to be Messmer's army. They appear to all wield spears which ties into Messmer's whole Impaler thing, along with the shot of the person(?) impaled on the steps. I wonder who these people were, if they had to stay in the Shadow Realm after the battle was done (if it is?). I find the design on the helmet interesting - at first glance I thought it could be a tree or roots, but actually doesn't it kind of remind you of the black tendrils that shoot out of Messmer's flame? I think it could be either, or both, or maybe it's a chicken and egg situation and they're related somehow... my first thought when the initial gameplay trailer came out was that the dark tendrils in Messmer's flame could be deathroot or something similar to that. Maybe I wasn't far off?
Tumblr media
We get our first shot of Messmer here. His pose pretty much solidifies to me that this is his army - this is the pose of a character commanding an army. It's so classic fantasy, the composition and everything, I love it. Messmer is awesome. I'm obsessed with the snake-like flames flying above the carnage.
"What followed was a war unseen. One that could never be put to song. A purge without Grace, or honour. The tyranny of Messmer's flame."
My take on this is that once Marika had won her battle/betrayed the God we see her pluck Grace from, she had her opponents banished and/or wiped out at the hands of Messmer. I have to say, it does surprise me that it seems Messmer was around and fully grown at the creation of Marika's Order. The implications there leave me with so many questions. Who is his other parent? Marika is Numen, and they seldom give birth. This is not an insignificant thing for her to have a child, especially if the theory of births being governed by the Erdtree/Golden Order is to be believed, and this must have came about before then. It would also go against the idea that Messmer is the full brother/secret triplet of Miquella and Malenia, considering that Miq + Mal were not born until Marika had left Godfrey for Radagon. I find that detail so intriguing... especially because I was so on board with the butterfly theories.
Tumblr media
No idea who this is, but they're cool and that definitely looks like the kind of weapon we'd be able to pick up. It just looks like a PVP weapon, know what I mean? Very reminiscent of Vyke as well imo, similar pose to the box art of him along with the billowing cape. This reminds me, I'm noticing an emphasis on hair in this trailer too - I never took much note of Marika's hair before but in this trailer there was a lot of emphasis put on how long it is, how similar it is to threads of Grace, and Miquella's hair too. It's making me think of the bible story of Samson but let me not go too off the rails
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we have some of the coolest shots in the trailer imo. This posits the Lion/Omens as enemies of Messmer to me - which to me supports the view that Messmer is aligned with Marika. The Lion/Omens always came off to me as if they were making a mockery of the GO - positioning themselves as enemies to Marika/the GO. We get another good look at his Flame, with the tendrils. They almost remind me of thorns actually. That final shot looks like a victory scene to me. It also really hammers home the Impaler thing. The man knows his brand!
Tumblr media
Then we pan up to see what hangs above this burned city - this 'shadow tree'. THIS IS MARIKA'S RUNE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think we are seeing the origins of her rune as part of the modern Elden Ring here - Grace/blessings dripping from the bough of this tree. I have to say given the imagery relating to motherhood on the run up to the DLC, the rune does look vaguely yonic, especially on the seals. I think references to motherhood are in this trailer too - Marika taking something from a fleshy orifice with a voiceover talking about seduction, I can't imagine that wasn't intentional. So far the main character we have seen is her child, after all. The whole story of Elden Ring revolves around Marika's children. I have a feeling Marika's relation to motherhood and childbearing is going to be a big theme in the DLC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I remember when the first gameplay trailer dropped, people theorised that this was Ranni's rune, and I was happy to believe that because of the similarities to Rennala's rune. But now I believe it's Miquella's rune, for several reasons, one being it reminds me of Malenia's rune, and they are twins after all. Although Rennala and Malenia's runes are oddly similar, it just makes more sense to me that it would be Miquella's, considering we are following in his footsteps. I think these rune spikes are going to be our DLC equivalents of sites of grace.
Tumblr media
"And so kindly Miquella would abandon everything. His golden flesh, his blinding strength..."
Abandoning his flesh is very reminiscent of Ranni... but why would he need to abandon his flesh? Perhaps after Mohg stole him away? Though I have to say, I'm warming up the idea that Mohg never actually had Miquella, he just thought he did. That might not make sense considering that body in Mohg's palace is how we get to the Shadow Lands, but I don't know, something about it doesn't sit quite right with me for some reason. The line 'his blinding strength' is a bit odd. I can't take credit for this next idea, I saw it on twitter, but someone suggested that this is referencing him potentially abandoning Malenia - his strength, his blade. For Miquella to abandon Malenia though, it doesn't exactly align with what we know of his character. This is the person that turned his back on the GO because it could do nothing for Malenia's sickness. He'd need a really good reason to do that to her. Maybe it was his only option? I'm so intrigued about why Miquella is even in the Shadow Lands to begin with. What are his motivations? Perhaps it's something to do with his proclivity to want to welcome all, especially those outside of Grace, I suppose those in the shadow lands fall under that mantle.
Tumblr media
"Even his fate."
Now THIS is super interesting - our first look at St. Trina! In her usual purple - associated with sleep. It does also look like she's sleeping here, sinking... What on earth does it mean to say that Miquella abandoned his fate as we are shown an image of St. Trina? Was he meant to eventually become Trina fully? We don't know much about her, but we do know Trina is an aspect/alter-ego of some sort of Miquella. Considering his parents were one in the same body, it's not a stretch to assume this could be the same case here. But in Marika/Radagon's case, it doesn't seem completely intentional - with the Ring shattering, I always got the impression they each fought to be in control of their singular body. Perhaps Miquella/Trina worked together rather than against each other? The queer part of me can't help but think of some kind of allegory to transition and Miquella having to walk away from it for whatever reason... but I really don't know enough to figure anything out from this.
Tumblr media
I saw someone point out that this shot of Trina looks like Trina's lilies too, which is super cool (sorry I don't remember who that was).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But we are not deterred. We choose to follow. Will you walk with us?"
I'm honestly surprised to see all these characters that we saw in the previous trailer just hanging out, I assumed they'd all be enemies of different factions. But here they look like allies, and from the voiceover they sound like it too, asking if we will join them. I think the voiceover is one of these NPCs. Seeing the fighting guy second on the left has got me super excited, what if he teaches us the hands-on combat we saw him do in the first trailer? I also think the crouching character on the right is the one we saw sleeping in the purple area (Trina?) from the last trailer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, these are my thoughts, I hope they resonate in one way or another. I can't wait to come back in a couple months and see how wrong I was <3 yayyy

A bunch of brainworms about dlc. Speculations, theories, my personal opinion, which I think I will stick to until the release of dlc.
Miquella.
(1) The main plot is that we go after Miquella. It is not yet very clear for what purpose and who sent us there, but judging by the voice at the end, it could be Ranni or Melina, or even Miquella himself. Voice is quite feminine.
(2) Miquella is likely to be our companion, as Melina was, or we will follow some messages from him, maybe meet his followers who will guide us, since the announcement says that we will be "guided by Miquella" and "meet others who follow in miquella footsteps".
Tumblr media
(3) I'm not sure if we will have the opportunity to fight with him or not, but the last scene where we see the first shot of him where he's literally SHINING, can be both the ending cutscene of the dlc and the beginning of the bossfight.
Tumblr media
(4) It's likely he will look the same with his first concept art appearence, because the hairstyle with braids and his skin, they are very similar.
Tumblr media
(5) If this tree in the Shadow realm is the Crucible of life that I explain below in my theory, it is quite possible that Miquella came to this world for obtaining its power or something like that, it is also quite possible that he goes there because he knows that Marika has hidden something in this world, something very important.
(6) Overall, Miquella's trip to these lands seems like a pretty desperate move to me. He literally commits a very terrible sin by "divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage. Of all thing Golden". It sounds like he finally broke all his connection with the golden order and his family, including his blood connection with MALENIA that sounds crazy, and he also renounces his power, as I understand, magical and which is hidden in his blood. In my head, it looks very similar to what Ranni did, killing her body and moving her soul into a doll. It's just that Miquella killed his body or left it and moved his mind into this hidden world with the help of the power of sleep and dreams. I repeat, it seems to me some kind of desperate last step, perhaps he felt that his transformation was interrupted by Mogh and was no longer possible to complete because of his poisoned body, maybe he felt that his tree had died or something like that.
Tumblr media
(7) Most likely, based on the words that Miquella is "awaits the return of his promised Lord", he cannot leave this realm on his own, either because he is captured by someone, maybe Messmer, either because his initial plan failed and he simply does not have enough power to return. So he's waiting for the promised lord. Here we have at least two options:
- This opens for us consort ending, but with Miquella, he will essentially be an alternative for Ranni, because he is also an Empyrean just with other purposes. And can replace Marika as a vessel of the Elden ring like Ranni. This is also supported by rumor that From software wanted to make another extra ending - the Age of Abundance, but either they cut it out at the end, or maybe abandoned the idea.
- I also saw the option that it could be Godwin as promised Lord, to whom Miquella could bring the true death, it can be the reason why he came to this world initially.
World.
(1) We are going into the world of shadows and it seems that this is not Miquella's dream or the Erdtree afterlife or something else, as many assumed earlier, but some kind of hidden realm that is not accessible to ordinary people and may be either under the map, or as some people suggest, either be at the intersection of all towers where we activated great runes, behind a large cloud on the map.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(2) Very important, some kind there once was Marika in this shadow realm, as mentioned in the summary of the game's plot in the announcement: " a place obscured by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot". Perhaps this world was her home before she became a goddess, or she ruled these lands before they were hidden, apparently during some kind of war: "a land purge in an unsung battle". It was quite possible that it was the war with giants, given some of the symbols hinting at it in Messmer + flame magic.
(3) Looking at the baldachin over the tree and keeping in mind its similarity to Marika's chambers in the capital before Morgott, I think that perhaps Marika herself made these lands forbidden or closed from others with this baldachin barrier, so the theory that Messmer may be an unwanted or forgotten demigod-child of Marika, left in this shadow world, as Marika's dark secret, has some basis. This is also hinted at a special dungeon in Leamgrave, Impaled Catacombs, thanks super lore guys in twitter!
Tumblr media
(4) Speaking of the secrets of Marika, the tree at the center of this realm. I have a lot of thoughts about this. It may be wild, but I assume that this could be the Crucible of life or what's left of it. That golden liquid that flows down is the power of the Crucible that goes out into the world. In the Lands between, due to the overwhelming influence of the Erdtree and the Golden order, its power is almost not felt, and can only manifests itself in the birth of Omen children, but in THIS world, the world of shadows, we see signs of the influence of the Crucible: horns, spells and etc in almost all creatures. Thus, Marika could lock the tree in a separate dimension, hoping that it would soon die on its own and its influence would finally dry up, but it is still alive. Or, of course, it can simply be a reflection of the Erdtree in the dark world, if we consider the theory that the world of shadows is a reflection of the real world. I definitely don't think it's Miquella's tree, because it has absolutely no reason to be one.
Tumblr media
(5) I also want to note the time in this story, chronology is quite a mess in Elden ring in principle, but according the trailer, a significant place in this shadow world is occupied by some faction associated with Saint Trina, and therefore with Miquella. That suggests that either Miquella came to this world quite a long time ago to be able to organize and build his own order or something like that, either time goes faster there than in the main game, which is quite interesting.
(6) Speaking of factions in this world, there are at least a few: the faction of Saint Trina (we saw a knight who fought with some kind of sleepy magic, although it could be a gravity spell because of lightning🤔) but there were lilies on his armor🤷), we also saw someone very similar to a Carian woman in a room similar to Raya Lucaria, more than that there are architectural elements of the Carian architecture and the architecture of Sellia, which means Kariya faction. Almost forgot, we also can see Moon in one shot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps Messmer has his own faction, most likely ruling in this dimension. And also there are some coincidences in how the branch that the elderly man pulls out of his body looks, with the shape of candlesticks that some enemies fight with and the symbol on the black knight in the form of a pointed branch or rune. These all symbols are black and golden. Probably this is some kind of pro-erdtree faction, followers of the Great order and Marika. The color scheme echoes Marika and Maliket at least. From the voice lines we can assume that in this shadow realm there are followers or Erdtree faithful and those who opposite them, perhaps it can be even active conflict in present time and wars in the past.
Messmer.
I see for myself two working variants of his origin:
(1) Marika and Radagon. Since he has a rather distinctive appearance, the theory of butterflies in the game, where the smoldering butterflies actually refer to him, and not to Melina; more than that when he addresses to his mother and talks about Lordship, I don't think anyone other than Marika has the authority to make a man the Elden Lord; and in the scene with him, there is a statue of a woman with a child behind his back, the woman is difficult to see, but by the location of the bracelets on her arm, you can compare her with the statues of Marika in the main game;
(2) Gloam-eyed queen. The portrait of a woman with an elderly man refers to this, the woman in the picture with dark hair, she holds her hand on her stomach as if she is pregnant; Messmer has some similarities with the "children" of Gloam-eyed queen - the apostles; he uses a very strange black and red flame.
(3) The theories that Messmer is some part of Miquella or he himself look strange to me, considering that we have known for a long time from the main game that there was some other child of Marika that we don't know about, we just used to think this was Melina. According to the announcements, although indirectly, we can assume that this shadow world and Messmer existed for a long time, perhaps even before the birth of Miquella and Malenia, probably Messmer was exiled there for blasphemy or something like that.
(4) l also don't think Messmer is Miquella's son or Mogh and Miquella somehow had a child together. I think all the influence of Mogh in this dlc will be directly related to his influence on Miquella. I don't think he's affected the world around him, everything that happens in this world, I think should be the influence of the Crucible of life and Messmer directly, perhaps some other forces, but not Mogh.
I'm sorry all of this is such a mess, like in my head after trailer. I'd be glad to see your comment and theories too, maybe you can challenge some of my theories, it gives them extra development and I could add something later. So thank you for attention.

I am still chewing over the implications of Malenia's armor and the mention of Miquella's promise.
Malenia awaited Miquella at the foot of the husk. "My brother will keep his promise. He possesses the wisdom, the allure, of a god - he is the most fearsome Empyrean of all."
It implies she knows a whole hell of a lot more than a simple promise of "I'm going to be gone, but I will return." She ties whatever he promised into his character traits (fearsome, wise, alluring). She also ties these traits to his divinity.
She's wholeheartedly on board with Miquella's stuff that would require him making a promise to her, whatever that was. She waits at the Haligtree, despite however long the Shattering has stayed in a stalemate. She mentions it in her dialogue that she is awaiting her return just before you fight her. She uses her title 'Blade of Miquella' both in her first cutscene and every time you fall to her in the first phase, to the point that it became a meme. Her defeat dialogue is both a compliment to the player for their strength, and her apologizing to Miquella that she finally met her match.
Considering Ranni and Malenia's natures as Empyreans, Miquella being more fearsome than them intrigues me. The former is the instigator of the entire damn Shattering and is firmly able to get away with it scot-free. The latter was never truly beaten and is easily the hardest boss in the game. This means he's a step above either of them in some way and whatever his promise makes her think of that.
On top of that, it makes her think of how he is wise and alluring. But the general assumption is that his plan involved ascending to godhood via embedding himself in the Haligtree.
Thing is, I don't think it has to do with him implanting himself in the Haligtree. Weird magic tree stuff by feeding yourself to the roots of a giant tree is a standard practice in the setting ever since the Golden Order took power. It doesn't take a great wisdom, nor allure, to do it, nor would that make him fearsome, because it's normal.
There is something very odd going on in the background...

Swordswoman Showdown Round 3
Malenia (Elden Ring) vs Xena (Xena: Warrior Princess)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Better here in a "preferred character" sense, not "who would win in a fight")
Propaganda below cut
Malenia
She is arguably the hardest boss in any Fromsoft game.; She is the favorited boss of Animal from the Muppets.
"Arguably" the hardest boss in any fromsoft game? You don't even know. She is OBJECTIVELY the hardest boss in any fromsoft game. On march 1st 2023, a bit more than a full year since the game's release, From Software released the stats on the amount of attempts each boss took for the players collectively. As of march 1st 2023 Malenia has killed the players 329.000.000 times. That's 10 Tarnished every second. That's almost the entire population of the United States. Malenia is also an optional boss in a secluded area hidden away from everyone. According to PlayStation trophy statistics, only 37.9% of people who ever bought the game managed to even REACH Malenia in the first place. Which means among those 329.000.000 people she has obliterated were only the most dedicated of Fromsoft fans. Only 33.3% of people even managed to beat her. That number also includes everyone who beat her with summons, which makes her significantly easier. This means out of all people who bought the game on PlayStation 4 or 5 and reached Malenia which is about 3 million people, 377.000 just fucking dropped her, they didn't even do it with summons. Difficulty aside. Malenia is also extremely pretty and has the softest lips, her Goddess form looks like a painting. She fights with elegance and style unrivalled by any boss in the game, dancing through the battlefield with deadly, fluid motions. Malenia is also 256cm or 8'4" tall. Huge woman.
post let me solo her
#malenia is 8'4“ flat chested and broad shouldered#she kills you with incredible grace and poise#trans icon#id let her Waterfowl Dance on me and Infect Me with her Scarlet Rot...
#malenia is so dedicated to the sword it mends her failing body. she lives by fighting#her strongest attack is a technique that halts the progress of her terminal illness#i can never stop thinking about that. by all means she couldve rotted into a mile of mush before the game started#but she persists!! she persists!!!
#malenia blade of 15 layers of contradictory goals and personality traits summed up in like twelve total lines of dialogue#she's a stupidly good character but shes also a woman who did horrible things in a game with a deliberately vague narrative#so everyone just enters What A Bitch / Step On Me mode with her#as they are wont to do. the lowlives.#anyway what would happen if you hated yourself and successfully became someone who can do plenty of good#and yet the only way to live on and keep doing good would be to embrace the self who causes so much pain#but there's nothing left. so you wait and you rot and you keep telling yourself that you're still the self you love#and then you have to do it again. and now your conflictual agony is over because clearly you lost yourself long ago#and you look up knowing that you're the danger you've always feared you were. and you smile#and turn john eldenring into filet in 2 seconds flat
Xena
Warrior Princess
She wields a sword and chakram. Just had to submit a biconic swordswoman.
i love her. she made me gay as a kid. Anyway, her weapon of choice is her sword, she is obviously very good with it
#unfortunately i have to choose and i have to choose xena#a) utena had no warcry. b) xena fought gods. c) xena has kickass goofy comic book combat which is my favorite
xena didn’t just fight gods. she fucked up a girl’s life so bad that she (calisto) devoted her entire being to destroying everything that xena loved that ended up with calisto becoming a god in order to destroy xena, which didnt work because xena entombed her in lava. and then when xena and gabrielle encountered calisto in the (christian) afterlife (different from the greek one which they also fought her in), calisto dragged gabrielle to hell so xena became an archangel in order to save gabrielle and then sacrificed herself in order to undo all the harm that she did in calisto’s life and then when not!jesus (played by timothy omundson) revives xena and gabrielle, calisto impregnates xena with the reincarnation of calisto’s soul in order to end the cycle of hate. xena doesnt just fight gods. she creates and destroys them
#this isnt even mentioning her fighting julius ceasar several times#telling brutus that caesar is not his friend#xena and gabrielle’s souls reincarnating across centuries in order to kick ass and fall in love all over again#or the time xena became a god but tbh that ep is kinda ‘uhhhhh…..’ even if they did hire a consultant for it
#I think everyone here knows to vote for Xena. I think a couple people here might have some propaganda for Xena saved already#everyone remember that Xena/Gabrielle is CANON and that's a pretty big deal also#(does anyone have that Xena Loves Trans People interview around because that would also make good propaganda)7:47 PM

I love how all Elden Rings demigods have issues, no wonder the Lands Between are a mess
From oldest to youngest we have:
Godwyn, who was the Ultimate Good Boi before he was assassinated by his half-sister. Decided to make it everyone's problem and now even Farum Azula, a city litteraly outside of land and TIME, is being invaded by stinky black thorns
Morgott, who was despised for the sole crime of being born with horns all over his body (which is supposed to be a natural thing within the crucible so. Yay). Forced to live in the sewers with his twin Mohg and for that only he deserves a fucking medal. I'd have gone Frenzied if it was me. Actual Best Boi, but litteraly died for a god and a cause who couldn't be bothered to give a shit. Have some self-respect man.
Mohg: same as Morgott, but he met a god who's into weird kinky bloody stuff and thought he was better than everyone else. Incel incestual p3do child abductor, I wish we could beat his ugly ass more than twice in the game
Rykard: we don't know much about him previous to being a giant-ass snake with lil wiggly arms, but he seemed to be a family guy (he has a portrait of his baby brother above his fireplace, how cute). Thought it was a good idea to be eaten alive by a snake and, inspired by Godwyn, made it everyone's problem. Eats people so they can DEVOUR THE GODS TOGETHAAAA
Ranni: chill now, but
1) she killed Godwyn, starting the spread of Deathroot and urging Marika to shatter the Elden Ring, so basically she was the spark that threw the Lands Between in a pile of shit (and Marika set the pile of shit on fire)
2) Killed her own flesh and now lives in a doll, raising an army of weird people all over the internet
3) stole Death from Marika's dobberman and gave it to already OP Mary-Sue assassins who now roam the lands more or less freely. Gurl wtf
4) Can and will sacrifice the ones she loves for her cause, meaning that she is 100% capable of doing the same shit as Marika. Wouldn't trust being her consort. Also have some respect for Blaidd and Iji ffs
Radahn: an other Good Boi who loves animals and his step-dad. Gigachad. Now his brain is rotting alive. Still able to retain fucking meteors while eating long-dead corpses like those fucking rotten stray dogs. Vivec could never.
Miquella: cursed to be a child forever. Seemed to have done a great deal to help his family, even Godwyn and possibly Ranni. Tried to recreate a God Tree but was kidnapped by his half-brother. Seems good on the surface but he gives me Griffith vibes and I'm terrified of Griffith.
Malenia: was born with the litteral God of Rot inside her body and takes it like a champ. Able to make you vomit your ass through your mouth while being blind and missing like 3 limbs. Was releasing the red pox on Caelid really necessary girl? Also why you sleeping instead of looking for Miquella?

Rennala’s Deception
So this is something I’ve been turning over in my head for a while. This is going to be more of a narrative theory than a hard lore-hunting theory, but feel free to jump in if anybody sees something I missed.
Remembrance of the Rot Goddess
Remembrance of Malenia, Goddess of Rot, hewn into the Erdtree. ... Miquella and Malenia are both the children of a single god. As such they are both Empyreans, but suffered afflictions from birth. One was cursed with eternal childhood, and the other harbored rot within.
This seems to indicate that there is a genetic component to Empyrean status. That’s likely not the only factor -- most likely, all “children of a single god” are Empyreans, but not all Empyreans are “children of a single god.” But we can still confirm that Empyrean status is at least partially hereditary.
We know that Ranni, the youngest child of Rennala and Radagon, is an Empyrean. By the time we finish the game, we, the players, know that she got it from Radagon’s side of the family.
However... Radagon’s godhood(?) was a strictly kept secret within the world of the game. We get most of our direct information on Radagon from Pastor Miriel, and to hear him tell it, Radagon was just a guy. A general and a champion, yes, but it’s never suggested that he was anything more than a mortal man. In fact, Miriel seems to feel that Radagon married up when he married Rennala, and can’t fathom why he would leave her.
So did it not raise any eyebrows when two (admittedly very talented) mortals had an Empyrean daughter?
That was my starting point. And while I continue to believe that Rennala was mortal (possibly part giant, but still mortal), I don’t think that was the official story.
I’m probably going to make a longer post on this later, but for now grant me the premise that A) sorcery originated in the Eternal Cities, B) the astrologers were descendants of the ECs who fled to the Mountaintops of the Giants after Astel ate their sky, and C) a contingent of astrologers eventually migrated to Liurnia, likely fleeing the early conquest of the Golden Order, and became the iteration of Glintstone Scholars we encounter in game.
Again, probably going to do a longer post later, but for now I offer the location of the Stargazers’ Ruins, the Heretical Rise, and Founding Rain of Stars (all on the Mountaintops), and the Preceptor’s Set description.
Preceptor’s Big Hat
Large hat with the movements of the stars drawn on the inside of the brim. Worn by the magic preceptors who served the Carian royals. ... Glintstone sorcerers are the descendants of astrologers, a fact that the Carians remain of aware of. Even if their fate has been long severed from the stars.
Keep that in the back of your mind. Now, onto Rennala’s official origin story. A note -- all heirloom talisman descriptions cite a “legend,” or a “heroic tale.” I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the lore gained from these talismans being either distorted or embellished, as legends and tales tend to be.
Stargazer Heirloom
A talisman engraved with the legend of a queen. Raises intelligence. The young astrologer gazed at the night sky as she walked. She had always chased the stars every step of her journey. Then she met the full moon — and, in time, the astrologer became a queen.
Rennala’s Full Moon
Sorcery associated with the Carian queen. Uses the caster as a vessel to incarnate a full moon, then sends it floating toward foes. ... Queen Rennala encountered this enchanting moon when she was young, and later, it would bewitch the academy.
Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen
Remembrance of Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, hewn into the Erdtree. ... In her youth, Rennala was a prominent champion who charmed the academy with her lunar magic, becoming its master. She also led the Glintstone Knights and established the house of Caria as royalty.
So we have a young astrologer. Most likely, either she or her family line originated from the Mountaintops. She discovered the Full Moon, and used it to bewitch/charm the Academy. She was also responsible for raising House Caria to the level of royalty.
A quick tangent -- the Carian Filigree Crest references multiple Carian princesses. Unless Rennala previously had other marriages with other children, Ranni ought to be the only Carian princess.
However, if we assume that the Carian’s previously ruled a principality, not the entire kingdom of Liurnia, everything slots neatly into place. The Carians were one noble family among many, Liurnia split between the lot of them. They were a matriarchal principality, thus making the current princess the highest priority for the knights sworn to their house.
Now back to Rennala... I don’t believe that the Full Moon was an outer god, or a sentient entity at all. I believe it is a school of sorcery developed by Rennala, building upon the foundation of Carian sorcery (just as Miquella’s holly incantations seem to build upon Golden Order Fundamentalism, while not being associated with any outer god -- future lore post pending).
However, I think Rennala presented the Full Moon as an outer god. Picture this -- Marika makes her debut on the Mountaintops, driving the astrologers to flee to Liurnia. She then proceeds to hit the kingdom of the Crucible so hard that Uhl flees to parts unknown and Placidusax picks up his capitol city and absconds to another dimension. Marika then sets her sights on Liurnia, dispatching Radagon.
At this point, Marika is fully leaning into her rep the God Queen. Her age is inevitable, no one can stand against her.
Except for another Empyrean, fighting to usher in her own age.
Rennala, the inheritor of a tiny corner of a fractured and disorganized Liurnia, declares herself the Empyrean of the Full Moon. An Arthurian figure, she unites the scattered houses of Liurnia, raises up an elite order of knights, meets the Hound of the Golden Order on the battlefield... And wins.
Rennala is now de-facto queen of Liurnia. The Glintstone Scholars come aboard, the Lazuli Conspectus the first and the most loyal -- they even take up the techniques of her knights. But she knows that, having no true god of her own, she cannot stand against Marika indefinitely. She and Radagon manage to work out a compromise. For a time, it seems everything worked out.
Then her daughter is born an Empyrean. An Empyrean claimed by Manus Celes -- the Hand of the Moon.
Rennala knows she made the whole thing up. There shouldn’t be a lunar outer god. Did she Tulpa one into existence? Did it exist all along, and she’s been taking its name in vain all these years? Did Radagon know? Is that what the secret of the Preceptors was about?
Regardless, now it’s after her daughter.
Of course we know that Radagon was the true Empyrean. He did not need Rennala to produce Empyrean heirs. But Rennala doesn’t know that. Ranni is the youngest. Radagon left after he had his Empyrean heir. Suddenly, Rennala’s breakdown starts to make a lot more sense.
Queen’s Robe
Robe indicating the highest order of sorcerer. Worn by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. When Rennala, head of both the Academy of Raya Lucaria and the Carian royal family, lost her husband Radagon, her heart went along with him. And then, those at the academy realized. That Rennala was no champion, after all.
Carian Retaliation
One of the sorceries of the Carian royal family. Swing your staff to dispel incoming sorceries and incantations, using their power to retaliate with glintblades. This was the Carian royal family's secret means to prepare against the disloyalty of the academy. The moon and stars would one day go their separate ways.
The Glintstone Scholars signed on with Rennala because they believed she could be their Empyrean champion against Marika. When she folded, they turned on her in an instant. The description of Carian Retaliation suggests that, to some degree, she always knew that this was a possibility.
One cannot maintain a lie forever.

Elden Ring is a game that, like Bloodborne, gives you a ring that allows you to marry a particular NPC in the game… But damn it, I don't want to become the Elden Lord of a girl who, for most of my interactions with her, she treats me like shit. Fuck! Let me use the Dark Moon Ring to marry Rogier. I don't want Ranni, I want Rogieeeeeeer!!! At most Darian (or Devin) or Nepheli Loux or Malenia (my queen, please step on me). Holy crap!!! I want my sorcerer!!!!
Or give me a version of Elden Ring (a crossover between Elden Ring and The Sims) where I can marry my sorcerer and give him a happy life ù.ù

So I wrote a small little fic about Malenia addressing her newly anointed Cleanrot Knights.
Feel free to read it if you'd like lol
Tumblr media
Finlay along with the rest of her comrades stands before Malenia, Blade of Miquella, in the Haligtree City of Elphael. They all stand at attention before their General, their leader, and for many of them, their personal trainer to which they owe their fighting skills as Knights.
Today is a special day, a commemoration of sorts, the Haligtree grows strong and the divine trees first bloom of scarlet flowers fills the air, with dancing crimson petals and golden leaves blessing all those who stand in its gentle rain, and in particular, making the Demigod Malenia look strikingly sacred.
Her helm is off and the breeze rustles her vibrant scarlet hair, and with her remaining eye, showing signs that it too shall soon be claimed by the Rot, she watches her loyal band that stands before her.
And with a firm voice she addresses them all:
"As you all know, Rot has a hold upon my very soul. Never have I know relief from this pain, and even with the fullest efforts of my dearest brother, your Lord Miquella, I still suffer despite his unending kindness. So if you truly wish to dedicate yourselves to my name, know that if there is no hope for me... then there is no hope for you."
Silence falls between the Cleanrots.
They've known this for a long while now, one does not pledged loyalty to the Demigod cursed by the Scarlet Rot without the knowledge that they too shall one day decay into nothingness, but hearing the truth come from Malenia herself is jarring.
It's as if she is testing their faith and loyalty.
"Should you have any doubts come forth with them now." Malenia says, "But do not take my words as ones of judgement. Because I wish for you to know, that there is no shame in wanting to live."
Malenia's remaining eye lacks light, the rot having eaten away at the illustrious gold that she was born into, with all that remains a dull sheen. But despite the lacking radiance, her eyes are still warm, gazing at her loyal Knights with such gentleness, along with a deep sadness that cones with the understanding of the fate to those close to her.
Finlay steps forward, and speaks on behalf of all of the Cleanrot Knights; whose hearts beat as one.
"We shall fight by your side until the bitter end Lady Malenia."
Malenia smiles.
The Empyrean brings her blade to her face in a single elegant motion. The fallen leaves and scarlet petals on the stone flooring rustle from the movement, and the Demigod warrior addresses her loyal band of Knights:
"Then upon my name as Malenia, Blade of Miquella, I hearby anoint you all as my Cleanrot Knights. May our battles in the name of Miquella and his Haligtree be fierce, and our determination even fiercer!"
As if on cue, the wind blows as Malenia raises her sword skyward, and the fallen golden leaves and scarlet petals whirl around her and the Cleanrot Knights, who proudly salute their General.
Finlays eyes follow the long elegant curve of Malenia's marvelous blade, and as she reads the prayer etched upon the marvelously crafted unalloyed gold up to the sharpened tip, curtains of light drift down from the balcony above, and from that light: sits Miquella, watching the ceremony from the balcony wall with a tender smile.
Miquella's presence always leaves Finlay breathless. Truly the most fearsome Empyrean indeed, when all he has to do is smile and it makes Finalys heart ache so tenderly.
Miquella's eyes meet Finlays from behind her helm and his smile only grows gentler. The young boy then closes his eyes, bringing his hands up to clasp them in prayer. His lips move but Finlay can hear no words other than the breeze and rustling of leaves.
But it's in this moment that she knows, deep within her soul, that the Cleanrot Knights are truly the most blessed of all.

My dadfrey hc is that he is honestly the most ACCEPTING chill parent/partner man you can have in the lands in between but like in the most fucked up way. Because he himself is a blood thirsty, genocidal might makes right sigma male, his idea of a "moral-line-we-should-absolutely-not-cross" is astronomically far and thin.
Radagon is Marika? Okay so he has two wives now cool. Radagon marries Rennala? Ok so she wants in too cool. "Slay those groups of completely innocent people for me " "yes babe thank you babe"
Mohg does blood cult and is the king of sh twt? Yes go son slay (I mean he himself is filled with bloodlust). Might even commit a bloody genocide in the name of the formless mother for his son, just another Tuesday for him. The whole 'kidnapping step bro to become his consort and gain power' plan has his head scratching tho. Like..why? What is the need? Just learn his feet smashing technique and he could get there, but oh well
Rykard fed himself to a snake to become a god devouring serpent? He did what he had to do. Ranni killed his son? Yeeeeaa that's sad but he has also killed many sons ya know? *head scratch*. It's not that he didn't care for Godwyn, its just that he is good at placing his affections in to neat little boxes that he can store in the attic to protect his emotional health better.
Godrick grafts himself into oblivion? Now Godfrey will judge him, but only because those grafts look UGLY(and because he didn't earn his strength the RAW. ALPHA WAY). Look at them!? Not even size/symmetry coded. Serosh is way better
Malenia is at the verge of unleashing a nuclear weapon every waking moment of her life? Tells her to "be herself", and "not to be scared". He will accept his step daughter "even if she was a worm"
(Finding out she nuked Caelid) it would suuure suck to be Radahn. That's a shame, he was fun to grill with (moves on with his life)

Blade Of Miquella Chapter 8: Let Woe Go Or Hold On.
Summary: Wednesday fears you might want to leave with your brother. Warnings: Emotionally Whipped Wednesday! ANGST! Previous Chapter 👉 HERE
As Weems entered the room and saw John, her nerves began to tighten. She felt the weight of her failure to protect you, and she didn't know how John would react or what decision he would make regarding her role in all of this. "Y/n told me a lot about you. There wasn't a single day that she didn't miss you. I kinda took the liberty to be her brother for the time being," Xavier said smiling, trying to break the tension that lingered in the room. "I know, I kept tabs through my resources. I must thank you for that," John replied, his voice carrying a genuine gratitude. "John… what I did… I am sorry," Weems finally spoke up, her words laced with remorse. "I also know why you did it," John responded, his tone empathetic. "Even though I would destroy the gold needle again if I had to, I know it was the only way to prevent Malenia from consuming Y/n," he sighed, "Where were you all this time?" Wednesday inquired, her curiosity and inquisitiveness ever-present. "Injured," John explained. "I almost died while trying to destroy the needle, going up against a dangerous cult called The Golden Order. They want to control the goddess of rott to unleash chaos upon the world. They are highly skilled in combat, and if it weren't for my team, I wouldn't have made it." "I thought you were in the army, yet you can work rogue outside your jurisdiction?" Wednesday raised another question. "The Ghosts don't have any jurisdiction," John revealed, disclosing a secret about his mysterious past. Wednesday's eyes widened in astonishment, realizing that the legends she had heard as a child about The Ghosts were, in fact, true. "Enough about me. So, I know about you, Xavier. Keeping tabs on you was easy. You, however," he turned to Wednesday, "getting much information about you without letting you know was hard." "I am Wednesday Addams," Wednesday admitted, standing her ground with unwavering confidence. However, admitting the next part was hard, even for her. "I am Y/n's…" she stopped as she couldn't find the right words. "I used to.. date your sister." John's reaction to this revelation was one of surprise. "Owh…" he uttered, absorbing this unexpected piece of information. He then smiled. "It's good to see she has people who care about her so much." He said. In the room filled with unspoken emotions, each of them carrying their own burdens and secrets, they knew that their love and concern for you were what brought them together. And they knew you were worth every effort, sacrifice, and vulnerability they could offer. "Anyway, I think it is highly against the rules for so many people to be in the patient's room." He said as he walked out, "Miss Weems, I would like to speak with you, in private." Principle Weems followed him, leaving Wednesday and Xavier standing by your side. "It doesn't look good at her," He said, "This look…" Wednesday nodded, but she knows you will be up on your feet with her in no time, and she will be with you for every step. She has planned every step of this torture called "Love", for you.
But when the next day Principle Weems informed Wednesday that John was planning to take you away and move to somewhere he believed was safe, her plans had to be "improvised". Determination fueled her actions as she found herself standing in front of the motel where he was staying, goal to change his mind. Three firm knocks on the door echoed through the room. John opened it, surprised to see Wednesday there. "Wednesday? What are you doing here?" he asked, his eyes reflecting confusion and concern. "You can't take her away," Wednesday stated firmly, her voice unwavering. "What do you mean?" John furrowed his brows. "I know you're planning to move her away with you. But you can't. She needs all of us, not just you, not just me. She needs all the support she can get." All the love Wednesday can give you. John's expression softened, but he still held on to his resolve. "You know she can lose control at any moment, right? The curse inside her could manifest unexpectedly. I can't bear to see her get hurt again when it happens. Look where it got her last time. Besides, I have friends who can keep her safe, much safer than you did. No offence." He said. Wednesday took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "I understand your concerns, but have you considered what she wants? Walking away from everything she has ever known might not be what she desires." John sighed, torn between his protective instincts and the love he had for you. "Wednesday, I will try to persuade her to come with me, and I believe she'll agree. But I promise you, if she chooses to stay, I won't force her. Her happiness and well-being matter more than anything else." As the weight of the situation settled on Wednesday's shoulders, she couldn't help but feel a knot of worry tighten in her chest. Would you choose to stay here with her, or would you decide to go with your brother? The uncertainty gnawed at her, knowing how much you loved your brother. Yet, the thought of losing you was almost unbearable for Wednesday. The memories of how she hurt you, making you cry, weighed heavily on her heart. She wished she could go back and change the past, erase the pain she caused you. The idea of not seeing you for even a day filled her with a sense of emptiness she had never experienced before. Wednesday couldn't deny the love she felt for you, and the desire to be by your side, protecting you and cherishing every moment together. But she also understood that her feelings alone couldn't dictate your decision. It had to be your choice. Wednesday's mind raced with thoughts and plans, determined to find a way to influence your decision and make you stay if you consider leaving with John. She knew her past plans had caused you pain, and she vowed that this time, her intentions would be solely driven by her love for you and her desire to see you happy and safe. She hated to admit that she needed help.
"Enid." "Wednesday!" The cheerful girl ran in, almost reaching out to hug her. Wednesday instinctively backed away, her guard up. "Back to 'Not a hugger' then? Got it." Enid smiled, "I must ask you some questions," Wednesday stated, her voice serious and focused. "Sure, go ahead. What do you need to know?" Enid responded, "You see, Y/n's brother is planning to take her with him, to keep her somewhere safe and isolated. He wants to discuss it with her when she wakes up, and I fear she might accept, especially after what I did…" Wednesday's voice trailed off, the weight of her past actions heavy on her conscience. Enid gave her a sympathetic look, understanding the remorse in Wednesday's eyes. It wasn't pity; it was the look of someone who cared deeply. Wednesday hated receiving that look. "I might be able to help, but it won't come without a cost," Enid said grinning. Wednesday sighed knowing what the blonde werewolf was going to ask her, "How many seconds?" Wednesday asked gritting her teeth. "10 should be good." Enid pulled Wednesday into a tight embrace, giving her a 10-second hug, it took Wednesday all willpower not to pull out her knife and end Enid's life. When the ten seconds were up, Enid released her, "The hug was good right?" Enid asked smiling, "Since I need your help, I'll reluctantly admit that the unnecessary physical connection wasn't completely unbearable," Wednesday retorted with a deadpan expression. Enid chuckled nervously, not taking offence. "Let's focus on the task at hand," Wednesday shifted the conversation back to the matter at heart. "What do you have in mind to help Y/n decide to stay?" "Make a speech dummy, You are a writer, pour your heart into it, be completely open and honest with her, show her how sorry you are and most importantly, give her a choice, tell her that even if she chooses to leave, you would support and love her then too which I am sure you would." Enid smiled. Wednesday raised an eyebrow, not expecting such straightforward advice from Enid. "A speech? Pour my heart out?" That sounds utterly ridiculous. "Hey, it might not be your style, but it could work. Just think about it. Y/n needs to know how you truly feel, and sometimes words are the best way to convey that." Enid said. Wednesday sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and gratitude towards Enid's persistence. "Fine, I'll consider it," "And hey, if all else fails, you still have your medieval weapons to fall back on." Enid grinned. Rolling her eyes, Wednesday couldn't help but let a faint smile tug at the corners of her lips. "Thanks for the reminder," she replied dryly. But then Enid's tone turned serious, and she asked the question that weighed heavily on Wednesday's mind. "Wednesday, if she chooses to leave, you wouldn't force her to stay or anything, right?" Wednesday let out another sigh, her emotions conflicting within her. "I want what's best for Y/n, even if it means… even if it means losing her," she admitted, her voice tinged with a touch of vulnerability. Enid nodded in understanding, her expression softening. "I know you do, Wednesday. And I believe Y/n knows that too. Whatever decision she makes, she'll see that you care for her deeply." Closing her eyes for a moment, Wednesday let herself be a little vulnerable in front of Enid. "It's just hard," she confessed, her guard coming down slightly. "I've never felt this way about anyone before. It's like… she's become a part of me, and the thought of her leaving… it terrifies me." "What if she resents me for what I did? What if she never forgives me?" Wednesday asked. Enid shook her head gently. "Y/n's heart is softer than a marshmallow Wednesday, of course, she will forgive you, she will see how much you love her." You have to, for Wednesday's sake.
2 more days were spent. The activity in your brain was increasing, and it seemed like you might wake up from the coma anytime soon. So, Wednesday and Enid took it upon themselves to help your brother move your belongings to another room. Your previous room had been badly burned in Crackstone's attack, but thankfully, most of your belongings remained undamaged. That's how Wednesday found herself touching your Winged Helmet for the first time, and that's when it triggered a vision. In that vision, she saw Malenia and a revelation dawned upon her – how strikingly similar Malenia looked to you before her eyes were consumed by rott. It became apparent that she was your ancestor. She had bandages on her right arm, which was missing… recently cut. "Mother… Why… why me? Why did the gods choose me? Why do I have to bear this curse? You promised me you would find a cure," Malenia's voice trembled, holding back tears. "My sweet child, I am so sorry. I've tried, I tried reaching every edge of this world to find a cure for you… I've tried trying to find a cure in other worlds, but I found none. It isn't a curse, It isn't a disease. Malenia, it is you. The Goddess of Rott is you, and without it, you can't exist. Without you, it cannot exist." The voice of the woman speaking to Malenia was compassionate, yet firm, revealing her role as a guiding force. Though her face remained partially obscured by golden hair, there was an air of wisdom and ancient knowledge about her. "But you are a warrior, Malenia. You are to protect your brother Miquella, at all costs. Against everything, against the Golden Order, the black knife assassins who killed your half-brother Godwin. And from Radagon. Miquella is the most powerful of us all, but his powers haven't reached his threshold yet. You must protect him until then. Even without an arm, your skills know no bounds." The woman declared as she gently placed the winged helmet upon Malenia's head, and as it obscured her eyes, Wednesday understood that it symbolized the transformation she was about to undergo. Finally, she presented Malenia with a long curved sword attached to a prosthetic arm, both made of unalloyed gold. "From now on, You are The Blade Of Miquella,"
"Wednesday? Wednesday!" Enid shook her shoulder, bringing her back from the vision. "What happened?" John asked, concerned "She does this from time to time," Enid explained. "Huh?" Wednesday decided to keep the vision to herself, at least for the time being. She needed to talk to you about it first before sharing it with anyone else. The revelation was too important, too personal. "I'm fine," Wednesday finally replied to Enid, not wanting to worry them further. "It was just a vision. I'll tell you more later." Enid nodded, trusting Wednesday's judgment. She knew that her friend had a deep connection with you and she respected her friend's privacy. John still looked concerned but respected Wednesday's space. "Alright, if you're sure," The rest of that evening was busy moving your stuff, Your new room, now situated at another distant corner of the school for safety, was visible from Wednesday's balcony. As the sun set, casting a soft golden glow over the school grounds, Wednesday found herself standing on her balcony, peering at your new room. She longed for the day she can stalk you resting peacefully on your bed, but the uncertainty of her vision clouded her thoughts. She questioned herself repeatedly - was there truly no cure for you? And if she revealed her vision, would it shatter your hope of finding one? A whirlwind of emotions tugged at Wednesday's heartstrings. She cared deeply for you, and the idea of causing you pain was unbearable. The memory of her past mistakes haunted her, making her hesitant to share the harsh reality that she had witnessed in the vision. However, she couldn't dwell on her thoughts long enough because Enid burst into the room, almost breaking the door. "Principle Weems just called, Y/N just woke up!" PART 9 👉 HERE! I've been playing Elden Ring (put it off for a long time due to the Let me Solo Her shit)
and I gotta say, being killed by Malenia doesn't feel bad because her fight feels like a dance and I missed a step so I have to start over until I understand *her* rhythm.
She's the one leading the dance. She's the one in charge. and I have to do my best to follow her lead.
The whole Let me solo her is something im over hearing, so i feel you.
And i 100% agree! like lady maria's boss fight i enjoy fighting malenia because it was a dance...well malenia's was hardcore dance battle. I dont think i ever raged on her fights either, it was more "'i'll come back when im better ma'am!"
And even after you defeat her she praises you for defeating her, saying your worthy. What a queen.
