when tony started working for bucky, he never imagined that anything would ever, could ever happen between them.

for starters, bucky was a decade older than tony. not that he had a huge issue with age differences, but still. tony was only in his early 20s when they met.

but more importantly, as far as tony could tell, bucky was happily married.

so despite the immediate attraction that he felt the second he laid eyes on bucky and the growing feelings he began to develop the more they got to know each other over the years, tony knew that nothing could ever come of it and that he needed to be content with just admiring the other man from afar.

but sometimes bucky would say things, or just look at tony a certain way, and he’d wonder if maybe, just maybe, the feelings he had were reciprocated.

regardless, though, he knew he would never do anything about it. there was no reason for him to do such a thing and nothing could change his mind about that.

not even when tony complained about another failed attempt at dating during happy hour one day after work and bucky said, “i could never understand why these idiotic bastards would rather waste another day getting drunk with their equally idiotic friends instead of spending time with you.”

or when bucky took him out for a celebratory lunch after signing a major deal with a new partner and their knees kept brushing under the table, and bucky just kept smiling at him for the whole meal like they were sharing a secret.

also not when they were on the phone with each other at midnight trying to salvage an important client relationship and suddenly the conversation segued into personal relationships and when tony sadly confided that he didn’t think anyone had ever loved him before, bucky vehemently declared, “doll, how could anyone know you and not love you? hell, i’m pretty sure i’ve been half in love with you for years.”

and especially not when they were on a business trip and heading back to their separate hotel rooms after a dinner with their biggest client and bucky kissed him before the elevator doors opened on his floor, and tony’s lips tingled for the rest of the night.

no, tony didn’t do anything about his feelings even after all of that because bucky was married.

then tony meets steve at a big company event, where this big beautiful blond man looks adorably lost and alone in a room with four hundred people. tony can’t help but drift closer to him and introduce himself, offer a drink, and ignore everyone else if only so he could make steve feel more comfortable in this crowd of strangers.

they spend the rest of the night together, talking for hours and giving each other meaningful and longing glances, smiling like they both know where they’d like this to go next. tony’s fingers absently stroke along steve’s hand that is placed on the cocktail table they’re leaning against, and steve’s other hand is playing with tony’s hair and sending shivers down his spine when his fingers brush against tony’s neck, and tony has to resist the urge to rub against steve’s hand like a cat.

steve has just leaned closer, lips and breath whispering across tony’s skin to speak softly into his ear when bucky finds them.

tony reluctantly pulls away from steve, refusing to feel embarrassed or guilty in any way, especially when he knows bucky likely interrupted them just so he could ask tony to get back to work. this is a work event, after all.

but then steve looks at bucky and smiles, and says, “oh hey sweetheart, finally got some time for us?”

and bucky glances between steve and tony, sees how there’s barely any space between them and grins from cheek to cheek. “looks like you’ve met my husband, doll.”

and, oh.

oh.

well.

it looks like tony suddenly has a lot to think about.

A Birthday To Remember (Bucky/Tony, Rating E, 6 Chapters, 53,914 Words) On Tony's 21st birthday he finds himself at the center of the party looking for a grand escape from his life. At the club he's looking for a good time one that sets him off in a new direction and when he finds it, he discovers his life will never be the same again. (Or rather the start to the five times Bucky was there to wish Tony a happy birthday and the one Tony was there on Bucky's.)

“Buck,” Rogers interrupts, appearing next to them. “You ready to go?”

“Just a minute, Stevie,” Bucky says smoothly. “Just wanted to see if Tony here wanted to know what it’s like to be appreciated.”

Tony is half-expecting Rogers to say something about him being Obie’s omega, but instead, he gives him an appreciative onceover and then says, “Does he know we come as a package deal?”

Tony’s brain shorts out at the suggestion.

fic idea "Muscle Memory"

Bucky barely has any memories of being James Barnes, besides things he's read and flashes of the war in specific. Nothing of the suave sweet-talking skirt chaser that would always overshare how his nights went to Steve, just to see the man blush.

He's moved into the compound after being cleared by the Avengers, under a probationary period for a year until he's actually considered a free man. With no trigger words, he's a blank slate.

He knows, vaguely, that he had a relationship with Steve, but neither mention it. But he remembers sharing bedrolls in Europe, and fleeting kisses while bo other privates were around.

It's out of nowhere, really, when he replies to something Steve says with a simple "Sure, pal" or automatically retort with their whole 'punk' and 'jerk' shtick. Steve smiles at him all soft and sweet whenever he does it, but it wasn't really a conscious thing and he's not quite sure where it came from.

Slowly, his forced neutral accent starts to slip whenever he's around Steve -- both dipping into old Brooklyn in a way that surprises some of the other Avengers. Bucky even starts to flirt with him, all  syrupy sweet comments that are half-teasing and half something he can't quite name.

With the words coming back, he has flashes of memories too. Less dissociative, being that he can see them out of his own eyes and remember exactly how it felt on his tongue to say it. Whenever he says something a tad too familiar, he remembers the last time he'd spoken a similar sentiment.

And then he says something stupid, he can't quite remember what it was, but the memory is of Steve rolling his eyes and telling him he should watch his mouth " 'fore his ma hears ", but it tries too hard to be annoyed and Bucky from the memory laughs and kisses Steve. He doesn't take the threat seriously, and Steve was obviously petulant about the whole thing, but slotted up to Bucky nicely, with an expression Modern-Steve has far too often.

Memory-Bucky knows that look. It's the one Steve tries to hide around peers and neighbours, the one that could mean getting caught doing something not even god could forgive them for -- which Steve doesn't believe, but Bucky always says they're just as good as sinners.

It's love. Pure, unavoidable, love that Bucky realizes Steve still holds for him.

And some that he might still harbor in tandem.

All because of some useless flirting.

Don't worry, Tony is that surprised just because this is happening very early on in their relationship, and isn't yet used to all the casual displays of affection. But he is very happy to be the meat in a supersoldier sandwich (I mean who wouldn't?? 😂)

Writing a sugar daddy AU with post-serum Steve as the sugar baby rn and I'm so obsessed with Steve being self-conscious of his fucking perfect body, cuz he knows that people see him and expect him to be dominant and he's really just a cockslut that wants to be fucked hard by his daddy.

Guys just... Steve being worried that he's not a good enough sub cuz he's not the stereotypical sub and Bucky pinning him down and damn near growling that anyone who doesn't think he's the perfect and prettiest little boy ever doesn't deserve to even look at him or Tony shoving his head into the mattress and insisting that he loves how Steve could easily escape him, but chooses to submit so pretty for him is everything.

Bucky and Tony make sure that their baby knows just how perfect he is and I love that sm😍😍

steve and bucky each meet tony separately but they both feel that immediate attraction the second their eyes meet tony’s. they just know, at once, that they’d do anything to get to keep tony.

unknowingly, they start competing for tony’s affections. by being the polar opposite of themselves.

steve knows he’s awkward and shy when he meets someone he likes, so he thinks, “what would bucky do?” and pulls out the most ridiculous pickup line he could think of as he approaches tony in the grocery store. he has no hope of it working, but somehow bucky always manages to charm his way into someone’s heart no matter how cringeworthy the lines he uses are. so steve decides as long as he seems confident enough, maybe it would work.

tony makes fun of steve for being cheesy immediately, but he’s smiling and he still ends up giving steve his number, so maybe, steve thinks, channeling his inner bucky might make this thing with tony last.

bucky, on the other hand, knows that what he wants with tony isn’t just a one night thing. when he runs into natasha while she’s out with tony and she introduces them to each other, he thinks, “what would steve do?” and ends up spending the next two hours quietly enjoying their company and chiming in here and there, all the while sneaking glances at tony while he overthinks how to ask the guy out. he ends up stammering an awkward goodbye as they part ways, only to be brought up short when tony outright asks him whether he’s interested in seeing him again or not. bucky, relieved and disbelieving, breathes out an emphatic yes.

tony pulls out a pen and scribbles his number onto bucky’s palm and as he savours the warmth of his hand in tony’s, bucky thinks that maybe, against all odds, channeling his inner steve and not trying so hard to be super suave is how he can win tony’s heart.

after a few dates with each of them, tony starts to realize that neither of them is acting truly like themselves. sometimes they’d slip up and seem like completely different people. and tony, he notices and starts keeping track. the frustrating thing is, he likes them. he likes them so much. but he can’t fully give himself over to either of them if they can’t be real with him.

then one day just by chance, he sees steve and bucky together, hanging out and just being themselves, and the pieces start to click. he slides into the diner booth that the best friends are occupying, ready to confront them for being idiots.

but ultimately tony’s just incredibly happy knowing that this whole time the parts of them that steve and bucky had shown him, that he’d been falling for, were real. the only difference is now he can match the personality back to the face where it belongs. and maybe, just maybe, he can keep both of them.

okay Technically a stuckony fic but listen, this entire series is worth multiple rereads. It’s a time travel fic where Tony finds himself back in the 40s with Steve and Bucky. The first fic has more of a focus in winteriron with steggy as a side pairing, the second fic develops steve and tony’s relationship, and the third and final fic in the trilogy focuses on stuckony as a whole. If you’re open to multishipping, angst with a happy ending, and lots of tears, you’ll love this one.

yet another stuckony fic. are you sensing a pattern. this one is a pretty short one-shot and darker in tone than the fics i usually read but not too dark. like let’s just say steve and bucky are morally ambiguous and would kill for tony but they’re not intentionally cruel or anything. i just think the dynamic is super interesting and love seeing someone take care of tony, which this fic has in spades.

Recently, I’ve played AC: Valhalla and binge-watched Vikings. Then, I recalled the love I have for Spoils of War by @iam93percentstardust. An utterly wonderful, delightful stuckony fic! Can’t help but sketch these three with that story in mind, haha

The first sketch is inspired by that scene when Bucky taunted Tony after the announcement that Tony was to be Steve and Bucky’s omega. The second sketch is Steve touching his forehead to Tony’s — something I often see in Vikings series.

WIP Wednesday

Alright, I finally have a good section of this Stuckony Medieval Knights AU that's perfect for pulling a snippet from! This is part of my @fandomtrumpshate fill for @massivespacewren which I'm aiming to have fully posted to Ao3 by the end of November. Anyway, enjoy!

"I’ve missed your counsel, old friend.”

Obadiah flags down a passing servant to refill his goblet with mead. “It seemed to me you managed to bring the war to a close just fine without me, Tony.”

“Careful now, you almost sound bitter about it,” Tony says with a laugh. “This can only be good for us- for the kingdom!”

“Bitter? Not at all, not at all. Peacetime is always a good thing.”

“Certainly. The fewer men I can send to a battlefield to die every year, the better.”

“Of course, Tony. Now, I do wonder what you’re planning on doing going forward with…”

Tony tunes him out. He’s much too caught up in the swell of the music and the slight buzz from the mead to bother paying attention to politics and finances– and really, who could blame him? His gaze drifts over Obie’s shoulder and quickly lands on the most radiantly beautiful stranger he’s ever seen. 

The man’s handsome face is framed by soft locks of golden hair, and his eyes are bluer than a winter morning sky. Even from so far away, Tony can tell he towers over most of the guests. He’s looking around the room with furrowed brows, clearly searching for someone, and Tony can’t help but picture smoothing out the ridges with his fingertips. 

The stranger must catch sight of who he’s looking for because his expression brightens as he begins to cross to the other side of the room. Tony tracks his eyeline until he lands on another unfairly beautiful man standing by one of the many tables of food. He’s just as tall as the first stranger, though his hair is darker and falls in waves down to his shoulders. His eyes are also a stunning shade of blue, which Tony can see clearly… given that he’s looking right at him.

The first man steps up behind the other and puts an arm around his shoulders, speaking quietly to him. The brunet leans into the touch, unbothered by their public display, before replying quickly to his companion, and soon enough Tony has the unwavering attention of both men from across the banquet hall. The first studies him with curious interest, and the second openly looks him up and down. Tony grins back at them. Perhaps he should go introduce himself…

“Are you even listening? It’s important that you-“

Tony cuts his advisor off abruptly. “Obie, I refuse to discuss business at a banquet like this. You need to loosen up! Drink, dance, be merry. We can focus on the future when the future comes, no?”

7 yo tony comes across a skinny boy being thrashed in an alley and he cannot run or fight so he hides in a corner until the bad guys leave so he could go help the boy

he's taller but also simultaneously smaller than tony which is a weird combination but his nose is bleeding so tony gets distracted by that instead

he brings the boy home, twists the door knob open and yells "JARVIS" at the top of his lungs

they patch the boy (steven, but everyone calls me steve) up, jarvis says there's nothing broken and he gives them warm cookies and tea and asks them to sit at the kitchen table while he carries on baking.

someone knocks on the front door.

tony hides his cookie and tries to hide steve too but jarvis says, "wait here, i'll go and see."

except when the door opens and a squeaky voice is heard, steve perks up and slips out of tony's hold.

"bucky!" he yells, running towards the voice and crashes into another boy who's the same height as him but bigger than steve and tony.

tony pouts. he thought steve was his friend. they ate cookies and drank tea together.

then steve turns and he says, "look buck, i made a friend," and tony's pout turns into a grin.
