Idiots in Love
REQUESTED – My asks are open if you have a request ^_^
Summary; (For the sake of this fic, Steve and Nancy never happened) Steve and reader being dumb and having moments of being iconic together. Since everyone knows that Steve isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, maybe he just needs another person to be as dumb as him or maybe he just needs someone else to match him mentally.
Words; 3.4k
warnings; swearing, usual stranger things, things, slight mention of drug use, blood and injury. not proof read.
A/N; thank you for all the requests! I apologise for taking so long getting through them all. i cant write a 0.5k-1.0k fic for the life of me at the minute! Its 2am for me now, but i really wanted to get this out!
Dustin said Steve was an idiot because he had too much hair on top of his head which left too much room for air. For you, Dustin said it was because you’d been around Steve for far too long.
Hawkins, Indiana, 1983.
School was a bore, you tried your hardest and whilst you did ace some classes, you also completely failed in others. Picking up extra tuition and getting help from anyone who would give it to you was a struggle. You didn’t like asking for help, it made you feel dumb, but more than that, it made you feel useless. Why did you struggle so much in certain classes and not in others?
You honestly thought it was from a fall you had as a child when you were learning how to ride a bike. Your father had stupidly taken off your stabiliser wheels and let you go on the hill of your childhood garden, right into a tree. Whilst you were fine overall, you did end up with a nasty bump on your head.
Not only were you not that smart academically, but you were also very accident-prone, which is how you met Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington. You weren’t the most popular person in school, you had a small group of friends and that was enough for you. You didn’t want to be known by everyone. As you walked down the busy hall to your locker, hardly taking in your surroundings and paying attention, you slammed into someone’s back. Your extra tuition books and folders fell to the floor,
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going!” The person you slammed into turned around, Steve Harrington, one of the most popular, sought for guys in school looking down at you, “I- I” you stuttered and he smiled, placing his sunglasses on the top of his head, he always found your first meeting adorable, it was something the party had heard several times and not got bored of hearing it. The nervousness in your eyes, the way you pushed some of your hair back behind your ear. The way you bent down to get your books, just as he was doing the same. Your heads collided and bounced off each other, his glasses joining your books on the floor, thankfully not broken,
“Shit! Sorry!” It was Steve’s turn to apologise as he slipped his discarded glasses into his pocket and pulled all of your books and folders into his arms, standing quickly so as not to embarrass himself further, “are you okay?” you just laughed and nodded, taking the books from his arms as you thanked him. That was the start of yours twos budding romance.
Hawkins, Indiana, October, 1984
It was a constant source of amusement for the party, they couldn’t believe some of the stuff you and Steve came out with half the time and how you were both so in sync,
***
“Maybe if we set this on fire,” Mike stated as he looked toward all the drawings on the floor,
“Oh, yeah. That’s a no.” Steve bites back, shaking his head, throwing a tea towel over his shoulder as he leaned on one foot, hand on his hip,
“A double no at that,” you called back to scrambling kids who were already gathering supplies and pointing at drawings on the floor,
“The mind flayer would call away his army,”
“They’d all come to stop us,”
“We circle back to the exit,”
“Guys.” Steve interrupted the party as they carried on talking between themselves, rushing around, completely ignoring the two older people in the house,
“By the time they realise we’re gone-“
“El would be at the gate,”
“HEY, HEY, HEY, this is not happening!” You and Steve bellowed over the party as they stopped to look at the both of you, your arms falling around as Steve grabbed the tea towel from his shoulder, whipping the air,
“Do you two share the same brain cell?” Dustin looked towards you both,
“No!” you both shouted in unison again, looking towards each other before laughing, the kids joining you.
***
They were all ecstatic when they found out you were both dating, though they did have to push you both in the right direction, this whole thing was an unlikely friendship between people. The only reason you were involved with Dustin and his friends was because you babysat him whilst his mum was at work, this caused you to get involved with the disappearance of Will last year and in turn, with you being close to Steve. He was brought into the mix also.
It was so obvious to others, how you both felt about each other, but it wasn’t for you and Steve. After some coxing and words of wisdom from the younger party, as you called it. You and Steve were finally an item, though they didn’t find out until months later when Steve let it slip,
“Dustin, stop picking on my girlfriend, would you?” Steve looked up from his plate of food as he moved bacon around with his fork, leaning back against the dining room chair as he stretched,
“But she just- wait? What... girlfriend?” Dustin looked back and forth between you both, the pair of you looking confused, “you’re meant to tell us!” Steve carried on moving food around his plate as you took a bite of toast leaning against the counter,
“Tell you what?” you asked wiping the crumbs off your hands onto a discarded tea towel,
“Have you been listening to any of this conversation?!” Dustin questioned, “That you’re together! I can’t believe this! How long have you two been a thing?! Wait until the others find out about this!” You picked up your plate with half a slice of toast left and took a seat opposite Steve as Dustin still stood shocked, playing with his walkie,
Steve finished up his food and stood up to put his plate in the sink, he looked at the calendar furrowing his brows slightly at the small writing, “Like seven months? Right?” he looked back at you as you nodded, your mouth full of toast.
Dustin once again stood dumbfounded, his mouth visibly agape as he pressed a button on his walkie, “you are not going to believe this, guys.”
Hawkins, Indiana, June 1985
“Oh, this is ridiculous.” You smoothed out part of your Scoops uniform that was now creased and bloody from your split lip and Steve’s as he was continuously hunching over you in a Russian loading car trying to gather his senses and not be knocked from pillar to post by Dustin’s driving up front, laughter bubbling in your throat, the situation was anything, but funny. All three of you (Steve, Y/N, and Robin) had been interrogated to the max, but once they found out there was a tie between you and Steve, they took advantage of that.
***
“Who do you work for?” the guard got down into your face once more, holding the arms of the chair you were tied to, his eyes glaring into your own,
“How many times do I have to tell you I work for Scoops Ahoy? I scoop ice cream for a living!” you cried out as you earned another slap across your already throbbing jaw. Steve was tied up behind you already passed out, they’d done a number on him and all you wanted to do was get out of this place and tend to his injuries, he didn’t deserve any of this. Robin was tied to the corner of the room having to witness her two new best friends being treated like this.
The Russian guard got in your face once more, “it looks like your friend here needs a doctor. Just as well we have the very best.” A smirk across his face made you see red, and without thinking you spat at him. A slight tinge of blood from your split lip was dripping down your chin, staining the collar of your uniform, “you’re going to regret that little one.” With that he muttered something else in Russian before leaving the room with the other guards, leaving you three on your own once more, but not without Robin calling them all bastards and yelling to let you all out of there.
“Steve?” you called gently as Robin tried to manoeuvre her arms from her binds to no avail. Unlike you two, she was tied to a bench so she couldn’t do much whilst she was bound up. Steve started to stir, pain evident in the way he groaned, “oh thank god... are you okay?” you asked quietly not wanting to be too loud,
“Ears are ringing, I can barely breathe and, my eye feels like it’s about to pop out of my skull, but apart from that I’m doing pretty good.” His voice was laced with pain and sarcasm.
***
You were pulled out of your thoughts as you came to an abrupt end, all three of you hitting already pained parts of your body as Dustin crashed into something,
“You guys alright back there?” Dustin asked as he looked to Erica with a slight shrug, “They’re fine, come on. Let’s go.” Dustin hurried out and opened the back of the loading car, hurrying you all out. Time was of the essence after all. This definitely made him think about how he acted sometimes, it was a handful and the fact you and Steve cared for him and all of his friends ample times made him furrow his brow slightly, not that he would change after they got out of this mess, he had an excuse, he was still younger than you.
“Guys! Come on!” Dustin bellowed as he huffed in annoyance, slapping his wrist, and ushering everyone into the elevator.
“Oh my god! A skateboard!” you screamed out in joy, jumping on a red platform truck as Dustin got to work pressing buttons and hoping for the best, once the elevator started to move, you started to struggle. Steve grabbed hold of the platform truck to stop it from moving too much,
“It looks like you're surfing!” Robin pointed at you as Dustin and Erica glanced at each other quite clearly done with your shit.
“They look drunk,” Erica stated, all of you now splayed on the floor talking about food, “why are they drunk, or drugged?” she questioned as Dustin felt Steve’s forehead,
“He’s burning up,” Dustin spoke to Erica alarmed,
“You’re burning up” Steve bit back, trying to push Dustin away with his hand whilst you and Robin laughed at the ceiling,
“Eyes are bloodshot, pupils dilated, Steve,” Dustin pat his cheek lightly, “are you drugged?”
“How many times, Dad? I don’t do drugs. It’s only marijuana.” Steve poked Dustin’s cheek and started laughing again as you and Robin shot up,
“you have marijuana?!” you crawled over to Steve and laid next to him, “gimme!” more laughs erupted from the three of you as Dustin and Erica watched on, wondering what the hell they were going to do to get you all out of this mess in one piece.
Getting you all back to the mall safely was a lot harder than Dustin could have imagined, Robin was picking at her uniform whilst tripping up over thin air whilst you and Steve were trailing behind humming and drumming the air to Simple Minds- Don’t You (Forget About Me) a song that had been on the radio continuously for the past month- a song Dustin thought you were both getting annoyed with as it came on the radio hours before you were in this mess and you were both scrambling with the radio to turn it off with rushed words of, fuck sake, turn it off, not this again, if I hear this song one more time I swear,
“Don’t you, forget about me.”
“Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t.”
“Don’t you, forget about me.”
Keeping you all hidden from the Russians was a lot harder than it could have been, with you three wanting food, and then trying to separate to find food, Dustin thought of a quick solution and got you all into the movie theatre but not before Steve reached into the bin to pull out a bag of discarded popcorn,
“You three sit.” Dustin pointed at the three vacant chairs as you all complained about being too close, and how the seats sucked. “Well then don’t watch the movie!”
“But we want to watch the movie!” Robin exclaimed as other people around you started to get agitated,
“Then watch it!” Dustin apologised to other people trying to shush you all, changing his tone to a hushed annoyed whisper, “Whatever you do. Don’t... go... anywhere.”
“Fine, Dad.” Steve perked up shaking his shoulders slightly as you and Robin snickered, taking handfuls of popcorn and shoving it in your mouth.
“That settles it,” Dustin huffed, “I'm never having kids." The pair sat down a few seats away, keeping their eyes off you trying to fetch up a plan.
Once they both realised you three had left the movie theatre, Dustin let out an audible sigh from his chest, this day, was not it.
“So, like, I wasn’t totally focused in there or anything, but... I’m pretty sure...that mum was trying to bang her son.” Robin leaned against the wall as you and Steve took turns drinking water from the fountain,
“But they’re the same age.” you stopped drinking and looked towards Robin,
“No, but he went back in time.” Robin looked up to the ceiling, balancing on one foot and then the other,
“Then why is it called back to the future?” Steve asked confused as he stopped drinking, letting Robin get to the fountain.
“It doesn’t make any sense,” you stated “Back means past so how could he be travelling back to something that hasn’t even happened yet?” you questioned Robin, Steve looking at you doe-eyed, completely agreeing with you,
“He has to go back to the future because he’s in the past, so, the future is actually the present, which is his time” Robin added as you looked confused,
“wh...What?” you and Steve looked at each other astonished before you both got distracted by the ceiling lights, dizziness, and churning in your stomach had you all rushing to the toilet, bringing up everything that happened in the day.
“Well that was no fun,” your voice was harsh, your throat sore as you leaned back against the cold wall of the cubical, no longer dizzy, everything still, the walls no longer moving around you, “Back to the Future though, I can’t get over that.”
***
Hawkins, Indiana, March 1986
Walking into the creel house was way more disturbing than it looked outside, creaking floorboards, furnishings covered in dust and cobwebs, completely derelict, wherever you stood, something creaked.
Lucas went to check on a small lamp for some light, probably to take the edge off an already eerie situation, “looks like someone forgot to pay their electric bill.” He stated as Dustin turned on his flashlight, you and Steve stood behind him glancing back and forth to each other,
“Where’d everyone get those?” Steve asked noticing that everyone had one except you and him.
Dustin looked back at the both of you as if to say unbelievable, “Do you two need to be told everything? You’re not children.”
“Thank you.” You said under your breath a little, huffing as Dustin took his backpack off,
“Back pocket.” He was used to you both forgetting things like that, you were both usually good with weapons and things you might need, and everything you didn’t, but never flashlights. You really did need to be told.
Max pointed out a big grandfather clock, hoping that everyone else could see it taking you away from looking at the scattered furniture,
“Why is this wizard obsessed with clocks?” you asked looking at the hands that were still,
“Maybe he’s, like, a clockmaker or something?” Steve said next to you, as you pursed your lips actually thinking about it,
"I think you cracked the case, Steve.” Dustin chimed in, shaking his head in disapproval as you watched on, nudging Dustin slightly. Nancy told everyone to go in groups of two leaving you, Steve and a smiling Dustin. Steve let out a sigh and walked off signalling you to follow, “Was that a sigh?”
“No, I did not sigh.”
“Why’d you sigh?”
“I didn’t sigh. Just come on, dude.”
“I heard you.”
“We were just always partnered up with you, okay?”
“You have a problem with that?”
“It’d just be nice to, I don’t know, mix it up a bit.”
You continued to walk the stairs, creaking with every other step, as Dustin hurried up behind you, the pair of them starting to bicker a bit, a usual occurrence, “I’m boring to you? Is that it?”
“No it’s the opposite,” Steve added as he moved his (Dustin’s) flashlight around careful not to knock anything off the walls,
“Maybe me and Y/N should partner up and you go around this creepy house alone, is that what you want?” Dustin asked as Steve shot his head around almost tumbling back down the stairs,
“No! I don’t want that, sorry man.” Steve moved his hair that had fallen a little flat huffing once more. “We do make a good team, The Three Musketeers and all that.” You smiled at Steve’s remark, it was a book you both had to read when you were at school, though boring at the time, the lessons you learned from the book stayed with you. Chivalry, honour, heroics, and willingness. It was true. You, Steve, and Dustin probably had spent the most time together because even though you could both be a bit daft from time to time, you were both reliable and trustworthy with any problem Dustin had, even if that meant issues outside of the upside down. You both never found anything that Dustin had to say daft.
“Hey, uh, Henderson?” Steve asked, looking at the cobwebs that littered the place, “could you maybe, uh, clarify what sort of clues we’re supposed to be looking for here?”
“I second that,” you cut in,
“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.” Dustin looked back at the both of you smiling, “Sherlock Holmes.” Seeing you both confused he huffed sincerely.
“That’s great. Thanks. That’s great. Really helpful” You huffed and shook your head, feeling dumb as Steve placed a hand on your shoulder, rubbing his thumb slowly, a knowing glance only the both of you understood.
“You're not stupid, not to me anyway.” Steve smiled as a small laugh escaped your lips a small vent in the floor catching your eyeline as you walked over to it, “Y/N, let me.” Steve crouched down in front of you lifting the metal from the floor, jars of preserved insects had you grimacing before Steve shot up alarmed, shaking his arm and flailing his hand to get a spider off, both of you clumsily falling through cobwebs and the door, into Nancy,
“Hey, hey, both of you, stay still. Stop moving.” She took time to rid you both of cobwebs as she lightly dusted dust off your arm, you and Steve then looking over each other,
“It was a black widow.” Steve lets out a breath of air, calmer than he was before, “Don’t go in there.” He shut the door adverting his attention back to you, moving a stray piece of your hair behind your ear, kissing your nose lightly. “So uh, Nance. Maybe after we find Vecna, kill him, save the world, and stuff. Maybe we can all go out. You know? Me, Y/N, you, Jonathan, when he’s back.”
“I’d love to.” Nancy looked at you both endearingly, she was glad you both had each other. Everyone needed someone. She knew you both back in school, but never really spoke to either of you. She was too wrapped up in perfecting her grades, reading the next book on the shelf, but she was so thankful to be in your lives now.
Steve was finally with someone he could be himself around without feeling bad or awkward, even in this messed up world the both of you bounced off each other as though it were effortless. Although you were sometimes the biggest idiots, you were the biggest idiots in love.

Happy Anniversary
Steve Harrington x Reader
Summary: You and Steve go out to celebrate your anniversary
——————————————————————————
“STEVE!” You yelled as you stared at the man in question running across the busy streets. Cars speeding down the road and taking no notice to pedestrians. Once he reached the other side Steve looked back at you and motioned for you to come over.
“Come on Y/n! We don’t have time to waste!” He shouted just loud enough for you to hear and you shook your head slightly laughing to yourself. Today was your 2 year anniversary and Steve had insisted that you saw the new Karate Kid(check when it came out). You took a breath rolling your eyes and moving towards the traffic. You stood there for a moment waiting for just the right moment and then made a run for it. Steve stood waiting for you with a big smile as you tried to catch your breath before looking up at him. Steve jumped back slightly as you hit him on the chest.
“Hey! What was that for?” He mocked a frown as he asked rubbing his chest.
“For your stupidity” You rolled your eyes. “You could’ve been killed!” You lectured as Steve just laughed.
“You love my stupidity” You rolled your eyes once again and you had a feeling you’d be doing it much more.
“Unfortunately so, come on let’s go, don’t wanna miss the movie” And with that said you grabbed Steve’s hand and sped walked over to the cinema as he laughed behind you. You loved Steve with all your heart and you couldn’t imagine life without him no matter how cliche it was. He was your rock, your happiness, your best friend and that’s all he had been two years ago, your best friend. But then he asked you out one day by your lockers at school and you decided to give it a shot. Thank god you did because now you and Steve had been happily together for 2 years never for a second loving each other any less. Yes you’ve had your doubts, your insecurities and you fights but doesn’t every couple. Steve was your definition of perfect and you didn’t want to lose him.
“Y/n, Y/nnn, you zoned out you alright?” Suddenly you could feel Steve’s hand on your shoulder as he spoke and you realised you had been daydreaming.
“I’m alright, I’m more than alright actually, because I’m with you” Now it was Steve’s turn to roll his eyes as you suppressed a smile.
“You’re so cheesy, the movies about to start let’s get our seats!” Steve’s excitement was obvious as you made your way into the cinema showing your tickets to the tender, buying some snacks and finally finding your seats and sitting in them.
The popcorn youd just bought say in-between you already half empty before the movie even started, when it finally did you took over to Steve but his full focus was on the screen. His eyes widened by his excitement as he held a small permanent smile on his face. You reached your hand over and held Steve’s as the movie played. While Steve didn’t look at you he did squeeze your hand, a sign of love, one you had decided on. So you took the opportunity to rest your head on his shoulder. The kiss on your for head let you know that Steve was acknowledging you even if he was watching the movie.
“Happy anniversary Steve” You whispered as you watched the movie.
“Happy anniversary Y/n”

~ wish I would’ve~
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Henderson!reader, mentions of past relationship with Steve Harrington x Henderson!reader ( she/her) pronouns.
• no use of y/n
CLIFFHANGER!!!
Flash backs written like this lol💕
Part 1
——————
YOU’RE SO CAUGHT UP IN THIS SOCIAL STATUS BULLSHIT YOU NEVER HAVE TIME FOR ME!
You screamed at Steve as he sat looking completely emotionless, all that mattered to him was keeping up his title of “ king Steve”.
What the actual fuck are you talking about, all I ever do is spend time with you if you ask me we might even spend TO MUCH TIME around each other. Steve replied.
Your jaw almost hit the ground then you began to speak. “ TO MUCH TIME??? THATS WHAT YOU THINK? DONT START WITH ME HARRINGTON; WHEN WE ARE TOGETHER IM NOTHING MORE THAN AN ARM REST, A PROP BESIDE YOU WHILE YOU SIT SHIT TALKING WITH TOMMY.”
THAT ISN’T TRUE, IM TRYING MY BEST. Steve said in his defense.
“ WELL TRY FUCKING HARDER” it might come off a bit harsh but you’ve had enough, when you and Steve first got together it was amazing, you were both so very in love but lately it’s all been feeling one sided. Steve’s taking this king Steve stuff way to serious, he barley even talks to you.
“ NANCY WOULD NEVER HAVE SAID SOMETHING LIKE THAT” Steve screamed, instant regret followed. The silence in the air said more than words ever could. Steve stumbled through his vocabulary trying to figure out how he could fix this. “ baby you know I didn’t-” he started but you quickly cut him off with a simple “we’re done”.
——
It took a few months for you to pull yourself together but you finally came around with the help of Eddie Munson. You had met him through your little brother Dustin, he dropped him off from a hellfire meeting one night and his car broke down right as he pulled up to your house, thankfully they made it there safely but Eddie ended up having to stay the night and the car got fixed in the morning; you spent that night talking to Eddie and you both grew closer by the day and eventually began to become a little more than friends.
Steve knew what he said was wrong, he knew it was all a mistake. Even though you left months ago he still can’t get you off his mind. He’s let go of the whole “ king steve” childish nonsense. You were much more important to him than that but it’s a little to late now.
———
Eddie reached for your hand as you both walked into school. “You look gorgeous today as always m’lady” he said in his cute little accent he does that you love. “ and you as well my prince” you both giggled and pecked at each others lips. Little did you know Steve was watching from afar his heart breaking at the sight of you with another guy. He knew you deserved to be treated well, he didn’t blame you for leaving, he knew he was an asshole but now he’s changed. His heart felt heavy and his eyes fluttered fighting tears. All he could do was walk the other way.
———
Later that day he began his shift at family video which means he also began his ranting about you to Robin. “ I just wish I would’ve listened or said more or done better” Steve spoke. “ ughh” robin said rolling her eyes “ you know Steve this is getting old. You messed up dude, we all do but you’ve seriously got to move on.” “ don’t you think I would if I could? I can’t Robin, I love her.” Steve replied. Before Robin could get any words out the door opened “ welcome to family videos!” Robin said, she picked up her head to greet whoever had came in but that’s when she was met with Eddie. Robin knew you and Eddie had been seeing each other, Steve had mentioned it one, two or a thousand times. All she could give was a soft smile to him. Steve panicked. He didn’t know if you were behind Eddie or if Eddie came to start a fight, every possibility was running through his head except for the fact that he could just be coming to get a movie. So Steve hid behind a cardboard cut out and made a complete fool of himself.
———
Eddie knew you and Steve had dated but he didn’t know to much, he though things ended peacefully and you two didn’t really have that much history but boy was he mistaken.
“ uhhh why did Harrington just run behind a cardboard cut out?” Were Eddie’s first words. Steve swiftly came out from behind the cut out trying to play it off “ not hiding, just cleaning” he was beyond confused right now. Robin just shrugged with embarrassment. “ anyways” Eddie began, “do you guys have sixteen candles?” Steve’s heart was shattered all over again. He knew that was your favorite movie which was probably why Eddie was asking for it right now. “ uhh yeah, I actually have a copy right here, here you go” Robin pulled a copy out from behind the counter that had just been returned earlier that day. “ Thanks” Eddie replied. There had been intense awkwardness in the room the entire time and Eddie honestly didn’t have a clue as to why. He awkwardly waved the movie a little then turned to walk out the door. As soon as he did “ THATS HER FAVORITE MOVIE ROBIN” Steve said “ JESUS CHRIST HARRINGTON ENOUGH!” Robin replied throwing her hands up in defeat. “ they’re probably watching it tonight doing God knows what, I can’t take it any more. That should be me on her bed watching it with her, me holding her not that freak!” Suddenly a cough came from the door. It was Eddie “ I forgot to pay and no one mentioned it but keep your fucking movie.” Eddie tossed the movie and walked out the door.

Dark Mojito
Steve Harrington x Henderson!reader Female pronouns used, reader gets called 'girl' no use of y/n.
Summary: Steve rescues you from an uncomfortable situation.
Disclaimer: This is my first time writing for Tumblr and my first time writing a short fic like this. This fic was deleted three times😭 so it’s taken me ages rewriting it each time, but I’m publishing this now without proofreading all of it properly. I apologise for any mistakes in it, tomorrow morning I’ll reread it and edit it but I just want it out now.
Also I’ll be writing part two to this for the well needed comfort between Steve x reader if people want it.
Anyway I’m really nervous about publishing this so please be nice :)
TW: reader is in an uncomfortable situation with a man, no sexual violence is described but the threat is implied. Please take care with reading.
It wasn't your fault really, anyone else would have made the same mistake as you did it was a pretty easy mistake to make. Actually no it wasn't your mistake you were mislead, that's how you ended up here. Hiding out in Kyle McCay's bathroom trying to fight off a panic attack and not cry.
When Angie had invited you to Kyle's, her boyfriend, for a party you'd agreed. You liked going to parties with your friends and you were trying to make the most of your final year in high school and if that meant going to a party without one of your closest friends as comfort then so be it. You always went to parties with some, every party you'd been to you went with Steve other than the 'pink ladies' party you went to because that was girls only and even then you still had Nancy and Carly (your childhood friend). Hell one time you even went to a party with Eddie Munson, given Carly was already there; Eddie had been dropping off Dustin from one of their DnD sessions that had overran and he happened to mention that he was also heading to the same party you were but his was 'for business not pleasure'. So he drove you and made sure you had a lift home. But this party with Angie, you hadn't mentioned it to anyone other than Steve because Nancy was busy with Jonathan (they always were every Friday night), and Carly had gone out of town to visit her family in California.
You'd swung by the mall after you'd finished school to speak to Steve and ask him to go with you.
"So, there's a party tonight I'm thinking of going to, wanna join?" you said as you leaned on the counter Steve was currently wiping dow.
Steve sighed, "unfortunately no can do, I'm closing up tonight and you know I'd skip out of here in a heartbeat for you but I've got to keep this stupid job."
"It's not stupid Steve, you serve ice cream that's pretty cool in my book."
He laughed, "I suppose, but the uniforms are stupid- I feel like I've been striped of my dignity and shoved in a sailors outfit-"
You laughed along with him, "I'd argue you have more dignity now then you did before the tight striped shorts." You smiled up at him as he smiled down at you.
Steve resumed cleaning down the counter as he spoke, "who's party is it anyway?"
You took a scoop out of your ice cream, "Kyle McCay's- well his girlfriend invited me Angie but it's at his house"
"She the one we bumped into last week at the arcade?"
"Yep, they've been going out for nearly two years. I haven't properly spoke to Kyle but Angie's my friend so I can hang with her and then when it gets boring I'll just leave."
Steve put the cloth away, giving you his full attention. "You still wanna go, even though you'll be on your own?"
You sighed, you hadn't really contemplated what you'd do if Steve couldn't go with you but you still wanted to go and you could just show your face for an hour and then leave.
"Yeah I think so, I wanna try and enjoy my senior year as much as possible and I've only just became friends with Angie even though we've shared classes for two years. Plus I'd feel bad if I didn't turn up, it was really nice of her to ask me."
Steve sighed, he loved how considerate you were to other people but he didn't like how it became a problem when you put others before yourself.
"Don't worry about Angie or anyone else, do you want to go?"
"Yeah I do, I think I need to go for myself you know put myself out there- most people only see me when I'm with you or Carly I'm always with someone, I'm never just my own person and I want to be my own person instead of being seen as someone else's person. Do you understand what I mean?"
"I do yeah, but I don't think it's a bad thing you're always with a friend it just shows that you have good people in your life. But I get what you're saying and if you want to go to this party I say you go. I'll be finished before nine so I can give you some time to mingle on your own and then I can either join you in there or if you've had enough we can grab some food and go home. How does that sound?" Steve smiled at you, it was that smile that was so adorably beautiful you had to take a moment to appreciate it.
"Sounds perfect."
And it did sound perfect at the time, but that was under false pretences.
———————————————————————————-
You'd arrived at Kyle's at 8pm after your mum had dropped you off on her way to pick Dustin up from Eddie's.
It was dark out and winter was fast approaching, pulling your denim jacket around yourself tighter as you made your way to the front door. Listening you couldn't hear any music and there were no cars lined down the street like usual. Weird.
The door swung open and there was Kyle smiling at you. You'd met Kyle once before when you were at the arcade with Steve and Kyle was with Angie. He seemed nice and Steve liked him.
"Come on in princess, Angie's in the kitchen getting you a drink" you stepped in and he closed the door behind you "follow me" he led you down the hallway and into a room on the right. You noticed instantly that there was no music and there were no people. How early were you?
Walking into the kitchen you saw Angie standing at the kitchen counter mixing drinks.
"Ah here she is, you look gorgeous I love that dress you'll have to let me borrow it sometime," she made her way around the island and brought you in for a hug.
Hugging her back you said, "thanks Ange, so do you." you broke apart from the hug and smiled at Angie, "so what time does the party start?"
Angie made her way back around the kitchen island and resumed mixing drinks, "now silly" she laughed.
You let out an awkward laugh as you gestured around, "well where is everyone?"
Angie kept her attention down on the drinks she was mixing, "oh I'll explain when we go to the living room but first and most importantly your drink m'lady." She slid a drink over to you in a tall glass, it looked like coke with ice but it had something green in it?
You grimaced, "What is is?"
Angie let out an excited sequel, "okay so it's got vodka, white rum, sugar syrup, lime juice freshly squeezed- no I'm lying, it's from a bottle but the taste is the same, I promise- and coke. It's basically a mojito with coke instead of lemonade and vodka as well as rum. I'm calling it the 'dark mojito', it was either that or the 'Angebomb' but I feel like I'll save the 'Angebomb' for a shot."
"It's a good name, make sense with the dark cause you used coke. I Iike it." That was all you could cling onto, the drink didn't sound good at all. Yes you loved a mojito but this wasn't a mojito and it had double the alcohol and you don't normally have more than a few drinks so you were hesitant to drink it. Well you can just sip on it throughout the night and keep the same drink, and if it really is that bad then you can just pretend to take sips- they won't know the difference not when everyone arrives. Actually, when it gets busy you can just pour it down the drain, it's not like Angie will notice.
She let out a scoff as she laughed "that's not why I've called it dark, silly."
She moved past you, drink in hand as you watched her go, confused. What makes it dark then??
"Come on we'll go into the living room, really get this party started. Kyle! Where are you babe?!"
Angie led you down the hallway, passed the front door and into the living room.
"Upstairs baby I'm calling Blake, give me a sec."
Angie let out an excited sequel, "ahhhh yay okay come sit with me I've got something to tell you" she dragged you over to the couch and you sat down together.
"Okays you might want a sip of your DM for this- DM as in dark mojito, that's what I'm nicknaming it-" she shrugged proudly.
You felt a knot form in your stomach, "for what Angie, what's going on?"
She gestured to your drink and you, "sip first then I'll tell"
You huffed bringing your drink to your lips and took a sip, and surprisingly it really wasn't bad. Angie must have read your face because she smiled smugly, "It's good isn't it, I know. Anyway, me and Kyle were talking after we saw you and Steve at the arcade and we said how we'd love to double date cause it would be so fun-"
You cut her off abruptly, feeling the heat creep up your face "Ange me and Steve aren't a couple-"
It was her turn to cut you off, as she laughed "I know that silly, well at first I thought you both looked really good together and I told Kyle that but he said to me that Steve would never go for you, you aren't his type he likes pretty girls that have a bit of fire- his words not mine but anyway I said it'd still be nice to double date and we both really like you and Kyle's older cousin is single so I had to most amazing idea to set you two up- well I wanted to set you up with someone and Kyle said that Blake is the perfect guy for you- he's older than Kyle, he's got that bad boy rugged persona down to a T and he really really likes you- well not yet but he will trust me."
Your mind felt frazzled as you tried to take in everything Angie had just dumped on you. They thought Steve wouldn't date you, you weren't his type? You liked Steve, like really really liked him and you'd hoped he'd thought the same but you'd never crossed that bridge from friendship to something more so you didn't know. But hearing Angie say Steve wouldn't go for you because you weren't pretty and didn't have fire? You didn't really understand what that meant but that didn't mean the pain lessened. And then it finally hit you, the graviton of the situation you were in...
They'd set you up on a date?!
You'd never dated, never been with anyone romantically and that suited you. You liked Steve and even if he didn't reciprocate it you still didn't want to date someone else never mind Kyle's older cousin. Older? How much older, because Kyle's Steve age, is he older than Steve?!
You let out a shaky breath as you tried to compose yourself, "Angie I don't know how I feel about this, I- I don't want to go on a date and I've never even met Kyle's older cousin... how much older is he by the way?"
"I know, that's why you're meeting him now, if it helps just tell yourself this isn't a date you're just getting to know him."
Your chest tightened, you didn't want to do this but you felt too awkward to get out of it. You'd kick yourself later when you reflected on this, on how for some reason you put Angie, Kyle and Blake before yourself and although they obviously didn't care about you, you were still trying to please them.
"Angie I don't know-" you did know, you didn't want to do this, you didn't want to be here but you couldn't find the strength to tell her that.
And before Angie could respond the bell rung. Your chest felt tight and your palms began to sweat.
"Ah yay that's him, Kyle it's Blake come answer the door I wanna stay with my girl-" she nudged you with her arm "relax babe don't worry, I wouldn't put you in a situation if I thought it'd make you uncomfortable." It didn't matter what she thought, you were uncomfortable and it was only gonna get worse when Blake walked in.
Kyle came thundering down the stairs, and winked at you as he ran past towards the front door. You heard it open and Kyle greet someone, then you heard Blake's voice and it sounded deep.
"Does he know you're setting us up?" you hastily whispered to Angie.
"Blake, yeah he knows he's all up for it."
Great. This felt deeply unnerving, the way these three had made this plan and set you up like you were a piece of art about to be auctioned off actually no you were a piece of meat that had already been sold.
Blake entered the room and the knot in your stomach tightened to a point you felt cramp. He was average hight, smaller than Steve, but he was broad and he had a beard?!
He came straight over to you, and Angie stood from the couch pulling you up with her.
"Blake" he said as he leant in and kissed you on the cheek. His beard scratched your face and he had a weird smell to him. You replied with your name and then sat back down on the couch, "nice dress" he grunted out and that had you readjusting your dress so it stretched to your knees, you felt exposed under his gaze. He sat on the couch opposite you with Kyle and pulled out a tin lunch box, which looking closer at looked a hella of a lot like the one Eddie lost.
Kyle and Blake began chatting away and although their voices were incredibly loud, you couldn't bring yourself to listen you were trying to plan a way out of here. Steve said he'd join you at 9 because you'd told him it was a party (well tbf up until about 5 minutes ago you still thought it was a party and that everyone was late) and if you waited by the door you could run out to Steve's car before he got out and-
"Pick your poison princess" Blake's deep voice cut through your thoughts.
"What?"
"What one you having, Klye's gone with some weed but me I'm an acid guy."
Drugs?!
You felt like your breath had been stolen from you, "I'm neither I don't- I don't want anything, thanks." you felt everyones eyes on you.
Blake laughed and you hated the sound of it, "come on princess, this is a party and at parties we have fun"
The way he called you 'princess' made you feel uncomfortable, it was like he was holding it over you, it felt like a threat.
Angie spoke on behalf of you, "Blake she doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to, but I do so pass me that spliff."
Blake's eyes hardened, staring at you he leant forward and took the unlit spliff from the tin and threw it in Angie's direction. Angie let out an excited giggle and then you heard the sound of a lighter, and then the smell of weed filled the air.
You stifled your breathing, trying not to cough you didn't need more attention on you that it already was.
Even though Kyle nor Angie were looking at you, it still felt like all the eyes in the room were on you. It was suffocating and you tried to control your breathing, as best as you could. But the weight of the room rested heavily on your chest because Blake was staring at you and he had been for some time. You made eye contact with him and looked away quickly towards Angie and Kyle who were laughing at something. But you still felt the burn of his stare, and the anxiety that you had tried to suppress all night was flooding through you now.
You looked back over to him and offered him a small smile, hoping to alleviate any tension. But that made it worse. He smirked back at you, took two pills out of the tin, put them on his tongue, swallowed them down with a gulp of his beer, and then sat back in his chair man spreading, all while maintaining eye contact with you.
You had never felt a chilling sense of fear like the one that was overwhelming you right now. Two years ago your life was uprooted by another dimension of evil, you'd faced off with Demogorgans and Demodogs with nothing more than a spare baseball bat of Steves (minus the nails). During the past two years, you've been scared, you've been crippled with terror almost to a point of no return. But that fear was nothing like this fear, the monsters from the Upside Down wanted to kill you it was their nature... but the worst they would have done to you was kill you, and sitting opposite Blake as he eyed you up with the ferocity of a predator looking at its prey, you realised his intentions were worst than the Demogorgans.
Kyle dropping on the couch next to you broke you out of your thoughts, you looked over to him to see him making out with Angie. Great.
You refused to look at Blake, you didn't want him to get any more ideas than he already has.
He spoke as he stood, beer in hand, "come on princess, we'll give them their privacy." no, no way were you leaving this room with him.
He made his way over to you and grabbed your wrist pulling you up from the couch, "wait, no- I think we should stay here-"
He smiled at you, but it was like no smile you had ever seen it was disturbing "why you scared of me?" he laughed. That must have been an attempt of a joke, his way of lightening the mood but yeah you were scared of him and there was no way you were going anywhere with him. He tightened his grip on your wrist, "come on"
"Angie-" you managed to force out, but it came out like a shriek, "Angie" you called out again in panic.
Kyle and Angie stopped making out and looked over to you and Blake, halfway across the living room.
"You good babe?" Angie asked you as she got up from the couch, "you look pale, how much of your DM have you had?"
"I'm fine, just feel a bit queasy and I really need your bathroom- where is it, please?" you rushed out, and looked over towards Kyle pleading with your eyes for him to just give you the directions so you could run and lock yourself in there.
"Ah, upstairs last door on the right, you want Angie to go with you, you really don't look too good?" Kyle spoke as he looked you over and honed in on your wrist, still firmly gripped by Blake.
"I'm okay, I want to go alone. Thanks." You attempted to pull your wrist out of Blake's grip but he still held firm.
Kyle noticed and let out an awkward laugh, "man the fuck, loosen up on your grip will you. That's no way to win a lady" he spoke as he walked towards you and Blake. Blake dropped your wrist and turned towards Kyle, sneering "I don't got to loosen up on nothing, just making sure I get what I came for."
You didn't need to hear anymore of this, and it sounded like Blake was about to flip his shit so you took that as your escape. You hastily walked up the stairs and then ran down the hallway. You wanted to go the toilet because you remember before Kyle had called down to you and Angie that he was on the phone to Blake, so there must be a phone up here. And there at the end of the hallway, like a shinning miracle from the Lord, was a rotary phone. You rushed towards it and dialled the number you knew would answer.
It rang and it rang, you could hear Blake talking with Kyle- their voices raised.
Still the phone rang, what if he wasn't home yet?
And then the ringing stopped as the line was answered, "Harrington residence." You could have cried in relief, you must have let out some sort of noice to his greeting because he didn't give you time to respond before he defensively snapped.
"What? okay is this a prank call- Dustin if that's you I swear I'll hang you by your curls on the washing line, okay I told you mom says I have to answer the phone like that incase any of dad's business calls come through to the house- no wait why am I even explaining this to you, Dustin you're lucky I like your sister cause you're really starting to test my patience-"
"Steve." You cut across him, later you can unpack his ramblings and harmless threats to your brother but not now- now you needed Steve.
Steve abruptly stopped his rambling and the silence that hung between the two of you felt deafening. He called your name.
"What's happened?! Are you okay?!" He spoke unnervingly calm, but at the sound of his voice, all of the emotions you had been fighting off came barreling out.
"Steve I need you-" tears we're streaming down your face, and your breathing was coming in short.
"Okay. Okay, are you still at Kyle's?" You could hear frantic shuffling on the line, and the noice made you freeze... you couldn't hear Blake's booming voice! You tucked the receiver into your neck and strained to try and hear what was going on downstairs... you heard Angie laugh and both of the boys respond. While you were listening to those downstairs, you hadn't realised Steve had been frantically calling your name, pleading for you to answer.
You brought the phone back up to your ear, as your tears continued to fall you heard Steve's voice "you got to talk to me okay- I'm freaking out over here, fuck-"
"I- I'm still at Kyle's this isn't a party they-" you hiccuped "they set me up on a date with Kyle's older cousin and Steve he's really scary and I-I don't know what to do I want to go home"
Steve felt his heart break in two at the sound of your voice drenched in fear, he'd never heard you panic like this. He grabbed his car keys, "I'm on my way okay, I'm leaving right now I live like a few minutes from Kyle's okay I'll be there in less than five minutes but I need you to go to a bathroom or somewhere with a lock okay-"
"I said I was going the bathroom to them, I'll go in there" your voice sounded so small, so full of fear. Steve didn't like it, it felt like his veins were on fire. He never liked when you were scared, but the demogrgans he got that that shit was scary but no one not born of the upside down should be able to elicit such fear out of you.
"That's good baby, okay we're gonna hang up and you're gonna go in the bathroom and lock yourself in-"
"No. No I don't want to hang up Stevie" he could feel your panic through the phone, fuck.
"Got to do it baby, you're gonna be safer in the bathroom than you are on the phone. You lock yourself in the bathroom and I'll be there in five, and you do not come out until I come to get you okay?" Steve was always able to take charge in situations of panic and fear, he'd had plenty of practice.
Letting out a shaky exhale you meekly responded, "okay, I can do that."
"Good okay, go lock yourself in and I'll be there in five I promise. Don't open that door for anyone other than me, I don't care if Angie comes knocking- only open it for me. I'll be there soon, okay just wait for me."
And with that he hung up, you quickly put the receiver back onto the phone and darted for the bathroom door. Stepping in you closed the door behind you and put the lock in place. Sitting on the closed toilet seat you bent your head to you knees as you tried to breath. It was all too much, the tears were still flowing and the crippling panic that was woven through your veins didn't relent, in fact it worsened. How was Steve going to get through Kyle's house and get you? They'd see him, someone would have to open the door for him and then they'd know you called him. Blake was clearly off his head on drugs and it seemed he was looking for fight before with how he started on Kyle. If he spoke like that to his own cousin, he'd do so much worse to Steve and Steve's never won a fight. no. This can't be happening, this can't be happening.
You don't know how much time had passed but you heard the screech of tires outside, standing up on the toilet seat you looked out of the window that overlooked the street. It was Steve's car.
Hearing his car door slam shut, you made a decision you knew Steve would reprimand you for later but right now you didn't care about that, you wanted to make sure Steve's beautiful face stayed in tact and he had no new scars to add to his collection on account for protecting you, again.
Unlocking the door quickly, you ran down the hallway and down the stairs pausing in the living room as everyones eyes turned on you. You didn't linger too long to take them all in, but you felt Blake's unnerving stare settle upon your skin.
Speaking quickly, you stammered out "I've got to go- Steve's here-"
You rushed towards the front door, just as the pounding on the front door started.
"Who the fuck's Steve?!" Blake called out.
You could hear Kyle answer him, but his voice seemed to be getting closer to you. Yanking the front door open, you all but melted into Steve. There he was in front of you, glaring as you opened the door but his eyes softened when he saw it was you.
"Are you okay?"He pulled you into a tight embrace, "hey I told you to stay in the bathroom"
"I didn't want you to get into a fight- can we go" you looked over you shoulder as you felt someone approaching. It was Kyle, closely followed by Blake.
"Hey Steve, how've you been?" Kyle called out to Steve as he stood behind you, Steve subtly pulled you behind him as he spoke "save the bullshit Kyle, I swear to God-" Steve was livid, he didn't know all the details of the situation but what he did know was that you'd called him crying from fear at what you thought was a 'party', and the reason you were so scared must have been because of one of the boys currently stood in front of you- or both of them. Steve didn't care, all he cared about was you and they'd scared you shitless and he wasn't having it. He felt you tug the back of his jacket and he realised that this wasn't about him, that even if he started a fight because of what they might have done to you, it didn't matter, none of it did. All that mattered was you, and you called Steve because he made you feel safe and there was no way he was going to jeopardise that because of some jerk like Kyle McCay and the weirdo with the beard that was stood behind him glaring at him. So Steve rose above every instinct in him that was screaming at him to grab his baseball bat and go to town on these lowlives. He rose above it all because he knew you didn't want him fighting, that was why you'd ran down to the door- to save him, and he was saving you.
"Let me make this very fucking clear, if either of you two fuckers think I'll let what happened tonight go then you're wrong, same goes for Angie. But as a man I'm addressing you two cause I don't believe in scaring a girl shitless, but obviously that's where we differ. You don't look at her, you don't talk to her, hell you even think about breathing the same air as her... I'll have your head." Steve didn't wait for a response, he turned around and gently guided you to walk in front of him to his car. He opened his car door, guided you in to the seat, buckled you up and kissed you on the forehead. Slamming the door shut behind him, he made his way around to the drivers side, got in and started the car.
The car began to pull away, and as you sat in the safety of Steve's car you could still feel the burn of that stare penetrating you and you feared it wouldn't be the last time you felt it.

Next Week
( steve harrington x reader )
in which you just want to rent Back to the Future but every week it has already been rented and every time you come back to check Steve Harrington says it will be back. . . next week and for some reason, you still believe him.
or
in which two lovesick idiots have to make stupid excuses to talk to each other.
content warning mild cursing, steve being an idiot, the reader being an idiot, robin being the only smart one, and steve's awful description of the back to the future plot
a / n i love steve harrington so here's this... the last piece of happiness on this account before i drop so much angst with no mercy ( and then after that a robin fluff piece ) i believe you can survive this war but before that happens enjoy this mess!!
You had noticed a few things about the video store in Hawkins, Indiana. One, Keith didn’t work there alone anymore. Two, the cute boy working there always made your hands unnecessarily sweaty. And three, they never seemed to have the movies you were looking for.
It started a few weeks ago. Your sister wanted to watch a movie that weekend after missing the showing of Back to the Future due to the unfortunate mall fire that knocked out a whole block of town. So the two of your drove to the gas station, bought a bunch of junk food, and headed to the video store. Though as soon as you walked in, you noticed the idiot who would quiz you for around twenty minutes on every movie you returned, and no you weren’t exaggerating, your sister had timed it, was no longer at the counter. But instead, the fallen king of Hawkins High, Steve Harrington, him and his hair in all its glory. You weren’t sure how his dethroning as king resulted in him getting stuck working at the video store by the arcade, for half a second you question if it was even him or maybe some weirdly similar look alike. But no, no it was Steve, you would know it anywhere. And just like any day, you had made your way to the counter, smiling at the boy who almost immediately smiled back upon meeting your gaze.
“Hi,” you greeted.
“Hey,” he replied, reciting the lines Keith had gotten him to memorize after repeating them to him probably fifty times. “I’m Steve, welcome to Hawkins Family Video, where we bring movies to you, what can I do for you today?”
“I know who you are, Steve” you said, though immediately you wished you could turn back time find a time machine and jump backwards at how creepy it sounded. “Shit, I didn’t mean that to sound so creepy! Im sorry, I just, we went to the same high school. Well of course we went to the same high school but you know-”
“No! No, it’s good,” Steve replied, slightly stumbling over his words. “I, uh, I didn't think you were being creepy. What can I do for you today?”
“Oh, yeah, I was looking for Back to the Future,” you replied.
“Back to the Future’ huh?” He replied.
“Yeah,I didn’t really get to see it after the whole mall burning down and all, you know?”
He only nodded, you noticing him visibly tensing up at you comment. Passing it off as nothing but it being a stranger memory, a tragedy for a small town like Hawkins, something that didn’t happen often. It was weird, the tiniest bit unsettling.
“If i'm being honest, the movie was pretty meh. Like just okay. Pretty low on the movie scale for me. I got to see it, it was a little confusing,” Steve explained, his voice slightly dropping into a whisper. “Not to spoil anything, but I’m pretty sure, the mom in that movie is trying to bang her son...so…”
You stared at him for a second, waiting for him to say he was joking. But nothing came, only silence as you stared back at him with wide eyes, your voice dropping into a whisper to match his.
“Wait, you aren’t joking?” you asked.
“I mean, I work at a video store, would I be steering you wrong?” He asked.
“There’s no way! No way!” You practically yelled. “That’s messed up, they played that here? How did the PTA at the schools not go insane?”
“That’s what I’ve been trying to say! No one believes me,” he agreed.
“I gotta see this movie,” you said, a quiet laugh escaping at the end of your words.
“Ill go ahead and find that for you,” he offered as he walked backwards towards the back room, bumping into the door in the process. “I’ll be right back.”
And he didn’t lie, not long after the boy headed back out of the backroom, you quickly realizing he was in fact empty handed.
“I’m sorry, just realized someone came in earlier and rented our last copy,” he tried to explain, running a hand through his hair.
“Oh,”you replied, slightly deflating after the anticipation built up for the movie. “That’s okay, I’ll just rent something-.”
“But you can come back next week!” He interrupted, practically yelling. “It will be back next week…”
“Yeah? Okay. Cool, great! Sounds like a plan,” you replied with a slight nod. “Guess I’ll see you next week?”
“Yep, next week, see you then,” he replied, his words coming out in an awkward kind of manner.
With a quick smile at the boy, you made your way towards the door, not even noticing that your hands were starting to become extremely clammy. Only stopped by the sound of Steve’s voice once again.
“Hey! What’s your name?” He asked. “You know, so I can keep track of who wants the movie next?”
And so you gave him your name, writing it down on a piece of paper because of his claimed horrible memory watching as he tucked it into his pocket as you exited yhe store. A smile glued to your face and a giddy somewhat nauseating feeling in your stomach as you made your way back into the car, almost forgetting the fact your sister was waiting for you. Scratch that, completely forgetting your sister was waiting for you.
“Did you get the movie?” She asked, practically groaning the sentence out.
“What?” You asked, buckling your seatbelt.
“The movie” She replied like it was the most obvious thing. “Where is it?”
“Oh! Shit, yeah, that’s why we're here! Um, they didn’t have it, we'll have to watch it next week,” you replied nonchalantly, as something that once would have annoyed you had zero effect on your mood. “The boy who worked there said it would be back next week, wrote my name down and everything.”
The younger girl let out another groan as she dramatically collapsed back into her seat.
“Fine. But don’t expect me to watch the fucking ‘Outsiders’ with you again.”
And It went on for a few weeks, you making your way to the video store every Friday night with the same answer from the boy. One would question the validity of his statement, that it would be there next week, your sister had called you a fucking idiot. Her newfound revaluation that she could say a curse word without being struck by lightning completely shifting her vocabulary.
One night you even asked for a different movie you were pretty sure no one would be watching, but of course it just so happened to have gotten rented. You didn’t mind though all that much, though you would never admit it out loud, you didn’t mind it at all. Because each time you walked in you were greeted by Steve Harrington and some sort of memorable conversation. Steve Harrington. Who was actually pretty nice company, no matter how much of a dork you had realized he was. And no matter how many times you told yourself to just watch something at your house or borrow something from your friend, you continued to drive up to the same store, only to be given the same answer. And no matter how many times your sister had called you oblivious, you ignored the metaphorical butterflies that attacked the walls of your stomach. Maybe it was those conversations, the conversations that caused you to stay way longer than you intended? The conversations that ranged from joking about Keith to talking about stuff that left the two of you there up until closing. Whatever it was, you couldn’t help yourself from coming back.
Just like any other Friday, you parked your car outside of the store, your sister no longer tagging along as she knew you weren’t getting the movie but instead a hour long conversation she would have to sit through in pure boredom. Opening the door, the little bell rang, and you were immediately caught off guard by someone else at the counter. There stood a girl, close to your age from what you could tell. Her shoulder length blonde hair was covering her face as she looked at some book that laid on the counter. Hesitantly, you made your way to the counter, feeling somewhat out of place without having the perfect haired, idiot staring at you. Like you were in a whole other building.
“Hi,” you stated, the blonde haired girl looking up from her book. Feeling as if this was somehow your first time stopping in.
“Hello,” the girl replied, gaze back on her book as she flipped to the next page.
“I come in here every week looking for Back to the Future, I’m pretty sure Steve has my name written down,” you tried to explain to the girl. “I was just wondering if it was finally here to rent?”
“‘Back to the Future’?” The girl asked, as if you were stupid.
“Yeah…” you replied, doubting yourself for a second.
“What do you mean it hasn’t been here?” asked the girl, whose name you had picked up as Robin from her name tag. “Nobody has rented that movie for like the past two months.”
“But...I, he told me,” you said, at a loss for words.
“Well Stevie told you wrong,” said Robin, with a slight laugh, setting the book aside to set her full attention on you. “What’s your name again?”
“Y/N,” you simply replied.
“No way! Your’re the famous Y/N?” said Robin with a awestruck kind of enthusiasm. “I have been waiting to meet you. No wonder he was so upset about missing work today. He hates work, I was so surprised he even cared that much that he couldn’t be here but-”
“Famous?” You asked, the word sticking out in the midst of her ramble.
“Yeah, it’s not everyday that Steve Harrington has been so encompassed by a girl that he has to fake that ‘Back to the Future’ isn’t here just to get her back,” Robin said, a laugh following her words, almost bending over from how hard she was laughing. “What an idiot!”
“What do you mean by fake?”
“That it was gone. It was a plan to talk to you again. Oh he’s gonna kill me if he knew I told you,” she explained. “But he needs to get it over with and just ask you out. There is no way he strung it out this long!“
You stood there astonished, not even sure what to say back in response. Now your turn to wear that awestruck looks What were you even supposed to say? Where was the lesson on what to do in this type of situation?
“Is he still here?” You asked, part of you wanting to see him, the other wishing to run away and not look back.
“No matter how much I want to see this go down, sadly he had something today,” she replied. “I’m closing up tonight, but you know, I’m sure he’ll be here next week.”

A Lil Nugget//S.H.
plot: after s4, y/n decides to tell her boyfriend Steve something she’s known about for awhile, but with everything going on, like the impending doom of Hawkins, for instance, she hadn’t had the time. But she has a baby Harrington in the oven(:
Warnings: Smut, established relationship, lil bit of a daddy kink, unprotected sex, preggo reader, fluffyyy Steve

Steve had mentioned to you that he longed to spend future summers driving a Winnebago across the country with you and your six kids, six little nuggets. You didn't know if it was because the fate of Hawkins was on the line, as well as the lives of everyone you loved, or if he was truly so in tuned with you and your life together, but he made the sweetest speech to you.
Well, you couldn’t tell him then, as it wasn’t the right time. Now, things in Hawkins had settled down some and you knew that it was as good a time as any to tell him that you were pregnant with his baby. You found out awhile ago, but almost immediately afterwards, Vecna started wrecking havoc in Hawkins.
You didn’t have a grand plan. You didn’t even know how Steve would react, you knew he wouldn’t be mad, not at all. You were worried though, about him freaking out about what his parents would think. But there was something else you wanted to bring up to him. You wanted him to move into your apartment with you.
Steve still lived with his parents, while you lived out in your own. He spent the majority of his off time at your place, so it made the most sense for you two to live together. Especially if you were about to start a family. Goodness, you were giddy just thinking about it: Steve and your baby.
Finally, you heard the door open. Steve said he was coming over after work. In walked your tired looking boyfriend. “Hey baby.” he said to you, smiling and joining you on the couch. He leaned in to you, nuzzling into your neck. “Aw, is my boy tired?” you cooed, putting your hand in his hair.
“Mm-hmm.” he mumbled, the sound muffled against your throat. He began to lazily kiss your neck. “But not too tired.” he said, sitting back slightly and showing you a smirk. Okay, so maybe the baby news can wait just a little bit longer.
Quickly, you helped each other shed all of your clothes. You hadn't made love in so long, you needed each other so badly. You got on top of Steve, balancing yourself with your hands on his hairy chest. He caressed your face, "I love you, baby. Missed this with you." He slowly ran his thumb over your mouth, tracing your bottom lip.
You lowered your self down onto his thick, hard cock. "Mmm." you moaned, getting adjusted to his size. "Feel so good inside me, lover." Steve put his hands on your hips and you started moving, bouncing on his length. With each movement, you bottomed out against him, and his happy trail ever so slightly tickled your clit. It was titillating and made you move faster.
"Yes, baby girl, yes!" Steve praised you, gripping your skin tight enough to leave marks. Your wetness slapped against him, filling your apartment with the sinful sounds that came along with it. He started to buck his hips upward into you, meeting your movements and creating a rhythm with you.
You saw his pretty, brown eyes focusing on your breasts as they sat and bounced prominently near his face. He leaned forward, kissing them tenderly and you moaned at his actions. Your eyes wandered his chest and his arms, and you marveled at his muscles as some light sweat glistened on his body. Your man was so achingly hot.
You started to squeezed your walls around his cock, just the way he always liked. "Yes, keep doing that. Gonna come, my love!" his voice was rather soft compared to the way his face was twisting up. He closed his eyes, his lower half fucking up into you with all the strength he could muster at this point.
"Come for me, Stevie. Fill me up, Daddy." He groaned, sounding almost feral. "Yes, y/n, I'm your daddy, baby." He clenched his eyes shut, and you new he was done. His cum shot into you, fast and warm. You moaned, feeling his every drop seeping into you.
A little while later, Steve was holding you close as you snuggled on the couch. He put a blanket around you both and he put his head on your chest. You loved this, holding your strong man so intimately. This is it. It was time to tell him. “Steve?” “Mm-hmm?” he replied lazily, he was enjoying you running your hands through this hair and gently scratching his back with your nails.
“I need to tell you something.” “Oh, god please don’t tell me you wanna break up!” He cried, snapping his head up to look at you. “Oh, no!” you said, touching his face affectionately, feeling the stubble he had after not shaving for a couple of days. “I would never, ever break up with you. You’re stuck with me.” You bopped him on the nose with your finger playfully.
He smiled with relief, “Good. I’m sorry, it’s just that things have been…crazy to say the least. I just can’t lose you.” You smoothed his wild hair back, “You’ll never lose me. But you are gaining someone.” you bit your lip, feeling nervous now that the news was finally out.
He frowned, “What? What are-" You raised your eyebrows at him. “Oh. You’re…you’re pregnant?” “Yes, Steve. We’re gonna have our little nugget.” you said, blushing as you said it aloud for the first time. “Are you serious? We’re having a baby! We’re having a baby!” he cheered.
You giggled. “So you’re happy then?” “Oh, y/n this is the best news!” He kissed you, giving a big emphasis on the ‘muah.’ “I can’t believe it. I mean…I can.” He smirked. “But this is crazy, I’m so excited, you have no idea.” He commenced to kissing your face all over, just smothering you with the greatest affection.
“Steve! Stop it!” you laughed, and he stopped, grinning at you. He then moved down to be eye level with your tummy. “Daddy can’t wait to meet you, baby Harrington. Mommy and I love you so much already.” he said, and planted a little kiss to your belly.
Steve got up off the couch, putting his boxers back on and headed for the kitchen. “What are you doing, babe?” you called after him. “Getting a pen and paper. We’ve got planning to do! Gotta start on baby names, gotta shop for a crib…oh! And start saving up to buy the Winnebago!”

As It Was (Steve HarringtonxReader)
Part 1
“Lex! Get up!”
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Will’s voice was ringing in my ears. I groan and pull my comforter over my head. I was exhausted from staying up late reading the night before. I hear my bedroom door crept open and footsteps making their way to my bed.
“Alex, wake up. Mom’s almost done with breakfast.”
I peek out from under my dark green comforter and see my little brother, towering over me, with the cutest smile on his face.
“I am awake.” I tell him.
“Come on,” Will whines.
It makes me laugh every time.
“Get out, Will, and let me get dressed.”
Will’s eyes widen and he bolts out of my room, slamming the door.
“Hey! Don’t slam the damn door!” I hear Mom yell at Will.
I smile and throw the covers off and slide out of bed. My hair was definitely crazy. The whole backside of my head was flat from laying on my back. It was a pain in the ass. No brush was gonna fix this mess. I grab my favorite gray scrunchie and put my hair up into a messy bun. I strip my pjs and throw on my jeans that were on the floor. I grab my long sleeved striped shirt and put it on, tucking the ends into my jeans. I go to my vanity mirror and sit in my chair and grab my makeup back and start putting on makeup.
Knock. Knock.
“Alex honey?”
“You can come in.” I say.
Mom opens the door just enough to poke her head in.
“Breakfast is ready.”
I look over my right shoulder and smile.
“Okay, I’m just getting ready.”
“Shouldn’t you wash your face first? It would help with—“
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I’m lazy.”
Mom rolls her eyes.
“Just hurry up. The bacon is getting cold.”
She closes the door and I turn back to my mirror. I don’t wear a lot of makeup honestly. I hate the feeling of it caking on my face. Today and like every other normal day, I have a black smokey eyeshadow look, mascara, light foundation to cover the small acne spots on my cheeks, blush and mauve colored lipstick. I put on my rings, one on my ring and middle finger on both hands. They were simple silver rings that if I wasn’t wearing them, I felt naked. I put on my silver necklace that had a locket pendant. The contents of the locket was precious to me. I gave myself one more once over look in the mirror and made a mental note that I should consider shaving my head right as I got up from the chair and left my room.
Will was sitting at the table, pushing around his food on his plate with a fork. Mom was in the kitchen grabbing a cup of coffee.
“Where’s Jonathan?” I ask.
Mom pauses and looks at me. The ‘oh’ moment is clear in her eyes when she sees she’s missing a child at the table.
“Go wake him up please.” Mom drinks her coffee, leaning against the counter top.
I swivel my foot to turn me around and I walk up to Jonathan’s bedroom door and bang on it with my fist.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
“Hey asshat! Wake up! Your’e gonna be late to work!” I yell.
“Language!” Mom yells at me.
“SHIT!” I hear a voice coming from his bedroom—except it’s not my brother’s voice.
I press my ear to the door and can hear scrambling.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!” The girl’s voice shouted.
“Wh—what’s wrong?” Jonathan’s voice sounded groggy.
My jaw drops. Fuck he has Nancy over.
“It’s almost 9:00!” Nancy squeals.
“What?” Jonathan sounds stressed.
I would be too if I was gonna be late to work.
“We forgot to reset the clocks,” Nancy says. “The power went out last night, remember?”
“Oh shit!”
I giggle and walk back to the kitchen.
“Did he wake up?” Mom asks.
“Oh he’s definitely awake.” I laugh.
Mom and Will look at me confused, until they see Jonathan trying to sneak out of the house as fast as he can.
“Hey, hey! Wait up.” Mom tells him.
“Oh, no, I’ll eat at work, Mom. I’m late!”
“No, oh your cheek.” Mom wipes a red lipstick stain off Jonathan’s face. Will and I both giggle and Jonathan gives us a death glare.
“Alright, alright.” He pushes Mom’s hand off his face and heads for the door.
“I gotta run. See you late.”
“Alright.” Mom waves Jonathan off and comes to the table, sitting with Will and I.
“Ugh, gross.” Will expresses.
“Well, I don’t think you’re gonna think it’s gross when you fall in love.” Mom says.
“She’s not wrong.” I agree.
Will glares at me. “You’ve never had a boyfriend.”
I shrug my shoulders, in defeat.
“Anyway, I’m not gonna fall in love.” Will grumbles.
“Okay, but it might hit you when you least expect it. Take Alex for instance.” Mom says, taking a bite of the scrambled eggs.
I pause eating my piece of bacon and look at my mom.
“What does that mean?” I ask.
“Well, you know.” Mom winks at me and I frown.
“No, I don’t actually. I’m confused.”
“You and Steve.” Mom says innocently.
Will starts laughing. I can feel my face turn a shade of red.
“MOM! STOP! NO!” I try to defend myself.
“What? He’s cute, right?” Mom smiles.
Will is having a hoot with this conversation and at this point I know it’ll come bite me in the ass if Will opens his big mouth to his friends.
“He is my best friend. Nothing more, nothing less. Please don’t make this into a thing. I beg you.” I finish eating my food and put my plate into the sink.
“Okay, okay, I’ll drop it.” Mom says, “Hey, what—“
Mom gets up from her chair and goes towards the fridge. I look at her and see that the magnets had fallen from the fridge along with the papers.
“What happened here?” She says out loud.
“I don’t know.” Will and I say simultaneously.
Mom crouches down and puts the magnets and papers back up on the fridge. I watch her as she pauses putting up a certain picture. She smiles at it and puts it up and I see that it’s the picture Will drew of Bob as a superhero. Bob’s death hit hard for our family, but especially Mom. She really cared about it. But the memories connected to Bob, connected to the bad memories of the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgons. I wished my memory could be wiped sometimes.
“Hey mom, can you drop me off at the mall before you go to work?” I ask, walking over to Mom, who was still staring at the drawing. I wrap my arms around Mom, hugging her from behind.
“Yeah, do you want me to pick you up when I get off?” Mom asks, leaving my hug and facing me.
“I can have someone drop me off at the store.” I say. Mom nods her head and goes to grab her empty plate to put in the sink.
“By ‘someone’ you mean Steve.” Will announces.
“Robin. Robin will take me.” I quickly say.
“Alright go grab your stuff.” Mom says, getting her jacket and purse.
I run to my room and throw on my black socks and black high top converse. I grab my bag and put in my walkman, wallet, my journal, pens, and the book I was reading last night. I walk out of my room with my stuff and meet Mom outside. As we get in the car, Will runs out of the house, backpack strapped to his back.
“Where are you going?” Mom yells after him.
“Dustin comes back from camp today. We are meeting up at his house to surprise him!” Will jumps on his bike and pedals off.
“Ok have fun! Be safe!” Mom yells back at him as he rides off.
I shake my head and laugh. I put my headphones over my ears and play a mixtape. “Material Girl’ floods my mind and it has me smiling. Mom grins, she starts her car and we drive off.

Sick - Steve Harrington
WARNINGS: Eating food. Sneezing?
SUMMARY: Steve comes over to help you when you're sick.
A/N: Sorry this is kinda short
Your POV:
Steve knew something was up when you hadn't been to school in 3 days. You had also stopped calling him and stopped answering his calls. Of course, you didn't mean to ignore him, you were just so sick that you couldn't get out of bed to answer the phone. By the fourth day, Steve decided he would go and check on you. He had been worried about you for a while now and was starting to worry that maybe he had done something wrong.
He drove to your house and knocked on the door. When he got no answer, he decided to knock again. You groaned as you tore the blankets off your body and slowly dragged yourself over to answer the door. The knocks kept coming. When you finally answered the door, you were relieved to see it was only Steve. He looked you up and down. Your unbrushed hair fell messily against your shoulders as you stood there in your pajamas.
"Are you okay?" He asked, raising a brow. You were barely able to keep your eyes open at this point. The walk from your bed to the front door had already exhausted you. You nodded groggily as you turned back around to go back to bed. Steve quickly followed you inside, shutting the door behind him. "Y/N, are you sick?" He questioned. You hummed in response as you flopped back into bed and shut your eyes. He gently rubbed small circles along your back as he spoke softly, "Y/N? Baby? Let me help you."
"Mm– I'm okay–" You murmured, just wanting to go back to sleep. Steve looked around at your messy room. There were tissues everywhere and clothes thrown on the floor. He placed his hand on his hips and sighed.
"Alright, come on, up you get," He started. He nudged you slightly and you groaned in annoyance. "Come on, baby, I'll run you a bath." He moved towards the bathroom and turned on the taps, allowing the warm water to fill the bathtub. As it slowly began to pour in, he picked up a few of the tissues that surrounded you and tossed them in the bin. He placed his hand on your back and shook you gently, "Y/N, wake up." When you didn't respond, he gently wrapped his arms around you and picked you up.
"Steve–" You wined. He let you down inside the bathroom and you held onto him to keep your balance. He slid your jumper down your arms and off of your body, throwing it into the hamper nearby. When he reached for your shirt, you stopped him. "Steve–" You groaned, your eyes barely staying open. "You'll see me naked." He moved back and looked at you with his eyebrows raised.
"Baby, I see you naked all the time." He said. "It's nothing I haven't seen before, just let me help you." He moved his hand back onto your shirt and began lifting it.
"But I look gross." You whined in protest, leaning your head against his shoulder when it got too heavy for you to keep up. He rolled his eyes.
"Remember when I was sick?" He asked. He began slowly taking off your sweatpants, holding onto your waist as he helped you step out of them. You nodded in response to his question. "Yeah, well, I literally had snot dripping out of my nose and you still helped me." He added. You let out a soft laugh as you remembered. He looked at you, watching your sleepy smile. "Oh, is that funny to you?"
"Yeah." You giggled. Once you were fully undressed, Steve slowly helped you get into the bath. For a bit, Steve had to sit beside the bath to make sure you stayed awake and didn't drown. But once you woke up a bit more, he began cleaning up your room for you. He knew having a messy room would stress you out and he didn't want you to feel any worse than you already did. He put the dirty clothes in the hamper, picked up all of the tissues and picked out some comfortable pajamas for you to wear when you got out of the bath.
After your bath, you got out and wrapped yourself in a towel. You slowly put on the new clothes Steve had got out for you and fell back into bed. Steve lifted the blanket and placed it over your body to keep you warm.
"I'm gonna go make you something to eat, okay?" He said, leaning down to kiss you on your forehead. You hummed in response. As he turned around to leave, you grabbed a hold of his hand, making him turn to look at you.
"Thank you, Steve." You cooed. He squeezed your hand tightly before letting it drop and headed out to the kitchen to make you some food. You curled up under your blanket, feeling its warmth as you sighed. You were so glad to have such an amazing boyfriend like Steve. You thought about your previous relationships, they never looked after you like this.
After a few minutes, Steve came walking in with your favourite time of sandwich. He helped you to sit up in your bed. His quick reflexes lifted a tissue up to your nose as you sneezed, obviously not wanting you to sneeze on your food.
"I'm sorry." You groaned, scrunching up your face as you were upset and embarrassed.
"It's okay baby, it's what I'm here for." He joked. He placed the plate on your lap and moved around the bed to sit beside you. You slowly ate your sandwich, trying hard to keep your tired body awake to finish it.
When you finished eating, Steve took the plate from your lap and took it back to the kitchen. He crawled back under the covers and pulled you into him. You wrapped your arms around him and placed your head softly onto his chest. His chin sat on top of your head as he rubbed your back slowly. Your eyelashes fluttered a few times before shutting completely and you slowly drifted off to sleep.

Code Blue
Summary; The aftermath leaves Y/N second guessing everything in her life. Losing friends and witnessing her boyfriend of two years getting closer to his ex is enough to push her over the edge. Will they be able to pull themselves out of this hole that’s darker than the Upside Down itself? (For the sake of this fic, what happened at the end of the last episode of season 4 hasn’t yet happened)
Warnings; usual Stranger Things, things. Swearing, blood, injury, alcohol consumption, mentions of death and suicidal thoughts. If any of this is triggering, please don’t read.
A/N; I haven’t written anything in so long! It’s a long fic! 6.5K words, my longest on here yet. I apologise if this is bad, I’ve just been in a writing mood so thought I’d let out a lot of angst and fluff (we love it) I am a British writer (England) so sorry if things don’t make sense to you! Thank you for stopping by, hopefully my writing streak stays strong. Requests are always open. Love to all xoxo
The aftermath of the supposed earthquake had everyone second guessing. Some people left, other people were packing to leave. Having known what really went down, you sat in silence staring into your vanity mirror as everyone else you knew went to help the community at Hawkins High.
You just couldn’t stomach it. Cuts and grazes over your skin, tiredness evident in your eyes, your hair still clumped with dirt from the Upside Down, dried blood. You hadn’t even showered yet. You didn’t know how to process anything that had happened over the past 72 hours. You were accustomed to this kind of thing having it been a big part of your life for the past few years, the most recent battle however, took the biscuit.
Small Polaroid pictures littered around the back wall of your desk. Smiles, memories, better times. Max and Dustin when she stole his cap. They were in mid laugh so it was blurred a bit, but a happy memory that was stuck in time. That same Max was now in hospital, fractured bones, blind, unresponsive. Not laughing and joking with her friends, not happy, not anything. Doctors didn’t know if she’d ever wake. She was such a selfless soul, way beyond her years, but still so young. Too young. You all were.
Pictures of the group, you and your boyfriend Steve. A picture of you and Eddie during a D&D game. His hair all over the place, tongue sticking out, you laughing, Dustin in the background pulling a stupid face.
Memories.
Eddie.
Your best friend.
Gone.
Just like that.
He didn’t run this time, and fuck. You really wished he did.
The tick of your small clock dragged you away from the pictures, the light ticking mocking you, “shut up! Shut the fuck up!” you screamed from deep in your lungs, a howl so painful from your chest, putting what was left of your strength and upset from the past few weeks into knocking the blasted thing to the floor, hearing the glass and mechanics hit the floor in one swoop. It was a gift from Eddie one Christmas as you were pretty much always late. Bittersweet.
Guilt built in your stomach as you stood up fast, pushing your stool back with your legs, failing to the floor, cupping the bits of broken glass as sobs wracked your body, not realising your hands were clenched around the shards, the all too familiar claret running through the lines in your palm and down your fingers, dripping into a pool on the wooden flooring of the bedroom.
Your breathing hitched as you remembered Eddie die in your arms, the way blood trickled from his mouth. The look of pure terror on his face. He knew he was dying, but he kept it together till the very end for the sake of you and Dustin. His best friends, the people that were there for him no matter what everyone else was saying. You didn’t want to believe it. Dustin’s screams and sobs as the light left his eyes. You saw them gloss over. The way you both shook him, screamed into his ear, telling him not to leave you both behind. Your hands covered in blood. His blood.
Dropping the bits of glass on the floor, you pushed your feet and newly cut hands against the floor, the small slitters of glass that were still on your palm slicing deeper into your flesh until your back met the wall, your hands and body shaking, the tightness in your chest getting worse and you struggled to fill your lungs with air. You felt like you were about to pass out.
The past 72 hours had been, by far, the worst time of your life. You’d witnessed what you thought was your boyfriend of two years get closer to his ex, eyes can be deceiving, but there was something in his own eyes that glimmered whenever he spoke to Nancy, deep down you always wondered what Steve saw in you. Maybe you were just a knock off version of Nancy. Someone to keep him grounded in all of this. A warm body to forget all the wrongdoing in the world. Someone he knew cared about him. Perhaps more than he cared for you. You didn’t know that of course, it was just what your mind was telling you.
Your best friend had died for a town that hated him, Max, the girl who had adopted you as a cooler older sister after Billie died was lying in a hospital bed with the looming same fate, Vecna was still out there somewhere and you were sure there was even more danger on the horizon.
Even after everything that happened, your mum hadn’t bothered coming home. She was always away with her new man for weeks on end. She had called up one night before the phone lines cut out to make sure the house was still standing after witnessing the news, but other than that all you got was, ‘with everything that’s happened in Hawkins, I’m going to stay with carl for another few weeks, maybe more. Be careful out there.’”
You’d never felt more alone. You didn’t blame your friends or Steve. They wanted to help out, of course they did. You did too, but you were in no way the right frame of mind to be seeing people crying for their loved ones, talking to people that had lost others whilst you were reeling from losing your own.
You pulled yourself off the floor with great difficulty. It felt like you had a ton of bricks weighed down on you. Metaphorically speaking, you did. Though it wasn’t bricks, it was the weight of hurt and anger, of death piling up one by one. “Get yourself together Y/N. get your fucking self together.” Rummaging through your dresser, careful not to get blood on everything, you pulled out some comfortable lounge clothes that were bigger in size, purposely avoiding one of Steve’s t-shirts as you dragged yourself to the bathroom.
Putting down the toilet seat, you placed your clothes and rinsed your hands under the cold tap. Water on open cuts made you wince, but at least you felt something other than emotional pain. Watching your fresh blood mix with water and into the sink like a mini whirlpool was almost mesmerising. Picking out the last few shards of glass making the water redder with each bit. You were lucky water was still running. There were some parts of Hawkins that had no water.
Turning the dial on the shower you undressed. Peeling your clothes from your skin. Clothes you wouldn’t bother to wash. They would go straight in the bin. You had enough awful reminders on that night, you didn’t need more. Stepping into the shower, careful not to slip, you submerged yourself in warm, running water and closed your eyes, feeling old blood, mud and debris leave your tired body.
Steve had come home early, with both of your parents almost always being away you basically lived with each other. When your mum was away, he’d stay with you and if his parents were away, you’d stay with him. He had his own keys to your place, and you had your own to his.
Steve kicked his shoes off in the hallway, tiredness in his bones. The house was silent apart from the sound of water from the shower, you were at least out of bed. When Steve left this morning you were curled up in a ball with covers over your head, blocking out the world. He leant down and burrowed his head in your blankets kissing the top of your head, saying how much he loved you and that he’d be back as soon as he’d helped out in Hawkins High, with a running car it was easier for him to pick up robin and bundle Dustin, Will and Mike in the back of along with all the supplies, it was a squeeze, but not a long drive and with everything that had happened, the kids didn’t mind being on top of each other, breathing, alive. In truth, Steve didn’t want to get out of bed either. His temples ached, his bones felt heavy and the wounds he had were still throbbing, not letting him forget about the events.
He sighed and flopped onto the sofa, leaning his head back hoping to get the knots out of the muscles in his neck, tension. He didn’t want to disturb you in the shower, even though all he wanted to do was bury his face in your hair, your skin, breathe in the only place he felt safe, the only thing that made sense to him. Seeing everyone at Hawkins High, the missing persons post filled with faces he knew, faces he didn’t, the heartbreak of all of Hawkins. All he wanted was you, but instead he just sat there.
You pressed your head against the cool tiles in the bathroom as you turned off the shower, the familiar car engine shutting off in the drive, you knew Steve was back, yet you didn’t think you could see him face to face yet. You breathed out heavily and stepped out of the shower pulling a towel from the back of the door, wrapping it around yourself and another for your hair. Red staining the white cotton as you’d opened old wounds as well as your still bleeding palms that stung. You bent down to get the first aid kit from under the sink as you got to work on your wounds. You at least looked cleaner, your split lip and eyebrow not looking as bad now you’d washed, half of these injuries you didn’t even know when you’d got them, from fighting demobats to being thrown across the floor by Eddie when you tried to help, bruises from being pulled away from your friend as his lifeless body lay motionless, wounds from yourself from hitting the wall in desperation. You looked how you felt. Completely broken. You wrapped bandages around your hands and left it at that. Drying off and throwing oversized clothes on, you reached for the door handle, your hand visibly shaking.
Going back into your room you sighed at the mess. Somewhat thankful that Steve had stayed downstairs. Glass and blood everywhere. You grabbed a dustpan and a brush from a small closet next to the bathroom as well as the small towel you used for your hair, sweeping up the small shards of glass and discarding them in a small bin next to your bed. Wiping the claret up with the small towel and putting that in the bin too. You sat on the end of your bed once again staring at the pictures behind your vanity desk.
“Y/N?” Steve called up the stairs noting that the shower had been turned off for a while, worry lacing his voice. You could hear it.
“Yeah, I’m coming down.” You stood up and dragged yourself to the top of the landing. You could just throw yourself down the stairs and hope for the best. Hope you’d have an ounce of peace from your racing mind, but you couldn’t do that. You couldn’t bring yourself to take yourself over that edge, to make the people that cared about you lose another. You’d all lost too much. Begrudgingly you walked down the stairs, the illuminating light from the sun almost blinding you, you’d been living in darkness for the past few days, being in the Upside Down and then closing all the curtains upstairs as soon as you’d got back home. You’d almost forgotten how bright daylight could be.
Steve was waiting in the kitchen for you, his eyes visibly glowing when you walked into the room, as though you lit up the small space when you stepped in. A smile tugged on your lips that suddenly dropped when you remembered he was looking at Nancy exactly the same not too long ago. The same nagging thoughts you had earlier pulling you back. Knock off version of Nancy. Now that Johnathan was back, of course he came running back to you. Steve looked down to your hands and frowned, he didn’t remember you hurting your hands so much they needed bandaging,
“Sweetheart? What happened?” Steve was by your side in an instant his hands gently over yours as he inspects the bandages,
“I dropped some glass, not a big deal. Just got a little cut up in the process of cleaning it up.” You lied through your teeth, you couldn’t be bothered to talk about Eddie again and how you’d broken the last gift he would ever give to you out of anger. Steve continued to look at your hands, careful not to disturb the bandages around them,
“Do you want me to have a look? I can bandage these a bit better for you, make sure there’s no glass and...” you cut him off with a, ‘I’m fine.’ And pulled your hands away from his warmth, Steve looked a little deflated, but understood. All of you had patched each other up countless times that it was almost routine now, you’d learnt how to stitch wounds, what ointments and antiseptics to use, you basically had a mini pharmacy under your sink for things that people would never believe.
“Honestly, I’m fine Steve.” You forced a smile and went round the Kitchen Island feeling his eyes burning through you. Your house wasn’t the biggest, it was snug. The kitchen was weirdly one of the bigger rooms and probably the nicest, it was one of the only rooms your mum put any effort into before she started gallivanting around the globe. It was bright with several flowers littering the windowsills, yellow lace curtains to match some of the décor. How the flowers hadn’t died yet, you didn’t know. You never watered them.
You and the rest of the group had spent ample time in this kitchen cooking cookies and brownies for movie night, Max and Lucas always managing to burn popcorn, Steve rushing to open windows and flail a tea towel at the fire alarm to stop it beeping whilst Robin was toppling over laughing at Dustin with brownie mix all over his mouth, You’d also spent ample time in here with the older lot of the group, your mum had quite the alcohol stash. Probably enough to open a bar downtown. From several different bottles of vodka, gin, whiskey to wine, beer, cider and god knows what other potent liquid that did the job, which is exactly what you were heading for now.
Steve was slumped against one of the dining chairs as he watched you move around the island, he knew exactly what cabinet you were riffling through, “Ahhh, there it is.” You picked out an unopened bottle of vodka and put it on the side as you went through a different cupboard to pick out a decent glass.
“Do you really think that’s a good idea?” Steve sighed as he watched your every move, “I know things aren’t great at the minute, but we really need to pull together.” You opened the vodka and poured a small glass, turning around and leaning against the counter with your ankles crossed, the glass of vodka in your hand. You shrugged and took a gulp, the burning from the alcohol igniting your insides.
“Look, sweetheart, please.” Steve ran a hand through his hair, the lack of product evident, no one ever saw Steve walking around with no product in his hair, probably because without it, it was so fluffy and never sat in the right place according to him, “this isn’t the answer, that isn’t going to help. It’s not going to bring...”
“Shut up!” you screeched, smashing the glass back onto the counter, thankfully not breaking it, “you think I don’t know that, Steve? For goodness sake! How stupid do you think I am?!” Steve is taken aback, he’s over stepped a line and he knows it, “I know it’s not going to bring Eddie back it’s not going to stop what’s going on here,” you look around the room, “it’s not going to stop Max from being in hospital, it’s not going to stop those poor kids dreaming about what happened over and over again, how fucked they’re going to be in years’ time if they even make it that far, from losing countless people and battling these things over and over again, but maybe, just maybe it will stop my racing thoughts, the hurt, the anger, the resentment I have for this stupid fucking town for five goddamn minutes, okay?! everything is falling apart at the seams, we’ve all lost so much, I even thought you were getting cosy with Nancy again!” you bite your tongue getting caught up in the rift, Steve looked towards you bewildered. You turn back to the vodka bottle, filling your glass halfway, drinking it down like water and filling it up again, “I’m not asking you to understand Steve, I’m not even asking you to deal with this, you know where the fucking door is.”
Steve stood up from the table and walked over to you slowly, turning you to face him, moving the hair that had fallen so effortlessly over your features, “I love you Y/N, whatever you thought you saw between me and Nancy was not that. I’m happy for her and Johnathan, really. I’m so glad were now with the right people, the people who ground us and make this stupid crazy life worth living, you’re my muse. I would never do that to you, sweetheart. Not ever,” moving his hands over your covered arms, to your hands, holding them gently in his, “I’m not going anywhere Y/N, just please, I don’t want to lose you too. I can’t.”
You looked Steve dead in the eyes, his glassed over, tears threatening to fall. The beautiful honey eyes you’d got lost in time and time again, “Maybe you already have.” His hands let go of yours as he visibly slumped, and took a step back, you might as well have been holding a gun, a bullet to his chest with the way he was looking at you. Turning your back to him, your own tears threatening to fall, you grabbed the bottle again unscrewing the cap, pouring yourself another glass.
“What do you mean?” Steve is silent again, his presence still behind you, feelings of uncertainty heavy in the air, “Y/N, look at me please...” the defeat in his voice made you feel awful, this was your boyfriend of two years, the person that had stayed by your side that whole time, through everything. The good times and the bad, the way you both laughed, the random dates he took you on, sometimes even after work, some of which ended up being group outings as one of the kids had seen you both and then got on the walkie talkies as quickly as possible, they ended up calling that ‘code blue’ as the first time it happened Steve was in his Scoops Ahoy uniform, the movie nights, the late night talks, walks, your safety net, the countless jokes that weren’t even funny. Helping him with his hair, the days he was sick and you’d take care of him, and the days he would do exactly the same back for you. He never faltered, he was always brave, always stayed strong for you, for everyone, but here he was, seconds away from breaking down. A painful ache in his voice that cut you in half, the same ache breaking the last pieces of your heart that were still intact, you wiped your tears away with the back of your sweater, turning around to see Steve once more, pain drowning his features,
“I’m sorry, Steve. I can’t do this anymore.” he sucked in a shaky breath as a sob broke from his lips. Pain. Pain that you had caused. You finished your glass of vodka, keeping your back to Steve, you couldn’t watch him break, you couldn’t see the sadness and heartache on his face. As if he hadn’t been through enough recently,
“Y/N, please,” his voice was low, strained, as though he was bleeding out on the spot behind you, “don’t do this, we can get through this, we can get through anything, please just don’t...” you turned round to Steve his eyes visibly blood shot probably from tiredness and the tears that were free flowing down his cheeks,
“I’m sorry Steve.” You walked past him, a slight sway to your walk from too much alcohol in a short space of time on an empty stomach as you tackled the stairs, all you wanted to do was sleep, before you even got half way up the stairs you heard the front door close causing you to stop on the spot, your own sobs now tearing way through your body, this pain was tearing you apart, so much loss, but you had caused this last one.
You found yourself sitting on the end of your bed looking at the pictures behind your desk once again, would you ever feel that kind of happiness again or was this the new norm? A burning hole in the middle of your chest that was once whole and pushed together in the shape of the people you loved. All of those memories seemed like a lifetime ago, how time and life could be fleeting, oh how you took it all for granted.
***
Two weeks had passed.
Two long weeks.
Probably the longest two weeks of your life.
In those two weeks you’d had almost everyone knock on your door, mainly Robin and Dustin, “Y/N, open this door right now or I promise you I’ll put a brick through your window and climb in there myself.” Dustin shouted as he looked through the small glass patterns on the front door for signs of movement, “I’m not joking Y/N.” Dustin looked around your drive and picked up half a brick, “ten seconds, Y/N!” finally he saw movement and put the brick down on the grass, you opened the door and huffed,
“Dustin, every day for two weeks, ae you not bored yet?” He pushed you aside gently and kicked his shoes off before throwing himself onto the sofa and turning on the small TV as if he lived there, “and how can I be of assistance today?” you stood in the doorway of the living room, you no longer had the bandages on your hands, the cuts on your hands were hardly visible now, your other physical injuries were also doing much better, some might not even scar, not that you cared about a bit of scarring,
“You look like shit,” Dustin looked back at you and scoffed, he wasn’t wrong, you’d been wearing the same kind of clothes for two weeks, anything you could get your hands on. Mix matched sweats and sweaters, sometimes Steve’s t-shirts, on a very rare occasion you treated yourself by wearing a pair of jeans. Your usual full of life hair was lifeless and scraggly from the lack of brushing, your eyes blood shot from lack of sleep, red lips from gnawing at them constantly,
“Well, love you too, Dustin,” you rolled your eyes and went to the kitchen fetching juice and cookies on a tray, “so what is it today?” Dustin cleared his throat and made his way into the kitchen, taking a few cookies off the tray as he took a seat around the table drinking juice you’d bought specially for him,
“It’s Steve,” your breathing hitched as you looked to the floor, biting at your already raw lips, you pulled a second chair out and sat opposite Dustin, taking your own cookie and nibbling at it. You hadn’t eaten well for two weeks now,
“What about him?” you took a swig of your own juice and sit looking towards your younger friend,
“Don’t give me that, Y/N. I know you still care, Robin tells me things, y’know, and you’re not someone that doesn’t care about people,” Dustin shook his head, “this act is bullshit, Y/N. Steve is over there wondering what he did wrong, what he can do to help you, he’s broken, Y/N and none of us can get through to him, ne needs you and you need him and we need you both. We need our kick ass non babysitters back. We need to stick together. We can’t all break otherwise what do we have?” you bit the inside of your cheek letting Dustin talk, you had been unfair, everything in this world was so wrong and you were breaking the only good thing in it,
“I’m scared, Dusty,” you looked to him and he nodded, not wasting time to eat more cookies, all the kids loved your cookies,
“We all are, Y/N. you know this isn’t over right?” you looked down knowingly and started to play with the patterned table cover, “Steve needs you, I need you, we all need you. You know Eddie wouldn’t want this right?” you breathed deeply at the mention of his name, “you’re the bravest person he knew, he told me, and do you know what else?” you looked up from the table, “he loved you and Steve together, he saw how happy he made you and that’s what he wanted for you. He wanted you to be happy.” You sighed, breath shaky as a tear fell from your lashes onto the tablecloth you were playing with moments before,
“Well he got one thing wrong, he was the bravest.” Dustin put his hand over yours and gave it a light squeeze,
“Please just come and see Steve? Everyone is round there trying to cheer him up and he looks just as shit as you, if not more. If you don’t come with me, the others are going to try one by one, I’m the nicer one.” He stood up from the table, hopeful,
“Dustin I can’t,” disappointment clouded his eyes, “I can’t go over there empty handed, help me make some cookies?” the usual toothy grin from Dustin was back, one you hadn’t seen for a such a long time, one that made your heart swell. You loved those kids so much and you’d do anything to protect them, you felt bad for wallowing in in your own self-pity when everyone you cared about was going through the exact same thing as you. You’d nearly lost the one thing that made sense and you were going to try and not let that slip any further. You and Dustin got to work on the cookies, not failing to get flour all over the surface and yourselves. Once the cookies were in the oven and cooking, you looked over to Dustin, “Keep an eye on the cookies for me? I’m going to try and sort this out a bit,” you pointed to your mop of a hair as he grinned and nodded, picking up his walkie as you left the room,
“Guys, it’s Dustin, over.” He waited for the usual static of the walkie patiently as he pressed more buttons hoping to hear from the others,
“Hearing you loud and clear, Dustin, what’s the status, over.” Mike was on the other end, uncertainty in his voice, but hugged by hope, Will, El and even Lucas in the background hugging over the other walkie talkie hoping for a shred of good news. Max was still in hospital, though in good hands. There was hope that she’d still wake up, she was strong and a fighter. Lucas sat by her bedside every chance he got, but he too needed fresh air sometimes, to see his friends. Being cooped up waiting for someone to wake up wouldn’t do anyone any good if it was constant. Same four walls day in, day out. It took some time for him to realise that however.
“Guys, we have ourselves a code blue. Over.” Dustin chimed excitedly as the rest of the youngsters screamed in joy, they were out of ear shot from Steve and Robin, all around the pool as it was such a lovely day in Hawkins, warm with a light breeze hitting the trees and pool every now and then causing small ripples, birds still chirping. Even amidst all the uncertainty and heartache, life could be beautiful.
You looked into the mirror having put a little bit of makeup on, an extreme rarity for you with everything that had gone on the past few years, you’d finally put a brush through your washed hair and changed into something more you, high waisted jeans, a black t-shirt and a light denim jacket you could take off if you wanted, you felt the warmth through the bathroom window as you looked at yourself in the mirror once more, “presentable.” You could smell cookies downstairs signalling Dustin had kept to his word and kept an eye on then, not letting them burn. You hurried down the stairs with a skip to your step and twirled to Dustin who was standing in the hall with a cookie jar in hand, ready to pack them once they’d cooled a little,
“There’s the Y/N I know! Yes!” Dustin fist bumped the air with his free hand wishing the cookies would cool down faster. You gathered your shoes and a small bag to put your keys and anything else you needed in,
“what if he doesn’t want to see me?,” you stopped in your tracks, looking at Dustin unsure, “what if I’ve hurt him too much and he never wants to see me again?” you play with the hem of your denim jacket, backtracking, wondering if this was a good idea after all,
“you’re the only person he wants to see, Y/N. we just invite ourselves in and he’s too nice to tell us to get out,” you shake your head,
“You know that isn’t true, he loves you guys as much as I do, even if he’s in the worst mood possible, he’d always rather have you guys around, you know that,” Dustin nodded, putting the cooler cookies into the jar sealing them tightly, “did you bike over here?” you questioned as Dustin shook his head,
“I didn’t,” he grinned and dug his hand in his back pocket, pulling Steve’s car keys out and waving them in your face, “he doesn’t know, obviously,” Dustin shrugged as you shook your head and put your head in your hand laughing in disbelief, a real laugh, something you forgot you could do,
“Dustin! You could have caused an accident!” you tried to sound serious over your laughing that just wouldn’t stop,
“well, you don’t see many cars on the road these days after what happened, maybe people are too scared,” he shrugged once more, “not me, now. Let’s gooooo!” Dustin ran for the front door, cookies in hand, and his small backpack you didn’t realise he had draped over a shoulder,
“Ahhh. Not so fast, keys!” you extended your hand to Dustin, Steve absolutely loved that car, sometimes you wondered if he loved that car more than you and okay, Dustin got there safely, but now he was in your care he wouldn’t be driving that thing,
“Spoil sport,” he ginned as he handed you the keys stepping out into the outside. You took a deep breath. The smell of the outside you hadn’t seen in weeks. The light breeze through your hair the sun tingling against your skin, butterflies and birds, nature. Things you hasn’t stopped to look at for such a long time, “earth to Y/N,” you shook your head and walked towards the car, opening it for you both.
You hadn’t driven in forever, was it something you could forget? Fastening your seatbelt, making sure Dustin did the same, starting the car and opening the windows, you pulled the sun visor down, a small Polaroid falling onto your lap. You turned it around to see a picture of you and Steve, your heart beating against your chest as you ran your finger over the photo. It was the first one you took together, before you were even official. Halloween 1984. That stupid party, the night Steve and Nancy broke up. You found Steve crying on the back step, you spent the rest of the night trying to cheer him up. One too many beers, weed and a stupid camera, “he kept it...” Dustin looked up at you as you put the photo in the dashboard opposite Dustin,
“Of course he did, he keeps everything,” you didn’t know that, you didn’t say anything further as you pulled off the drive, it wasn’t a long drive. It was actually an easy enough walk, you didn’t live far from Steve. The nights he would randomly turn up at your house and throw pebbles at the window even though no one else was in the house, small memories making you smile.
The drive was quiet, Dustin looking out the window the whole way there, your heart still hammering against your chest, would people be happy to see you, would they hate you, would things be the same, what the fuck were you going to say to Steve? Pulling onto his drive, things got too real, you heard laughter from the other younger people of the group outside as you locked up the car, Dustin rushing to the back gate with cookies, though before he could you were tackled by El, Mike, Will and Lucas, “Y/N OH MY GOD YOU’RE HERE!” mike exclaimed as you laughed with the kids, some of them sopping wet from the pool, of course they still loved you, “we all missed you so much, it’s so good to see you” you ruffled everyone’s hair, something you always used to do when they were younger, something you still hadn’t stopped, tears in your eyes, you smiled, for once they weren’t sad tears,
“I’ve missed you all so much, I’m sorry I haven’t been around, I’m sorry I haven’t been stronger for you all.” They all hugged you tighter, understanding, when did they all grow up?
“we all understand,” Lucas looks at you empathetically, “Max would want us all together, so would Eddie,” you hugged them all just that little bit tighter as they lead you into the back gate, not much had changed in Steve’s back yard except the grass was unkempt, the pool still clean somehow, “we will let you talk to Steve now,” you took a deep breath and looked towards the back sliding doors Robin leaning against them smiling as she ran out to hug you,
“Oh praise the heavens you’re here, I cannot deal with him in there for one minute longer,” you looked towards robin apologetically and she shook her head, “none of that, Y/N. Go see him, bring our Steve back, yeah?” she smiled and sat next to the kids, stealing one of the cookies you made.
You made your way into the house, the house that had so many different memories, you kicked your shoes off and put them where you always do before poking your head into the living room, Steve’s back was towards you as he was staring at the TV something you guessed he’d been doing for the past couple weeks, a lot like you really. His hair was too dishevelled and free of product, but oh fuck did he look like home. “If you’re there to try get me outside in the pool again, Robin I swear to fuck I will change the locks on this house.” He signed defeated and tuned round, his pupils dilating, shock on his face, the evident bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, “Y/N?” he scrambled off the sofa as fast as he could, scared you were a figment of his imagination, “is... is it really you? You’re here...” he stood opposite, reaching out to you,
“Steve...” tears welled in your eyes, “I am so, so sorry, I never wanted to hurt you, I didn’t want what I said, I was so lost in my own mind,” he pulled you into a bone crushing hug, “please forgive me, I’m so sorry,” you pulled away to look at him, tears in his own eyes as he brushed your free falling ones away with his thumb, “I love you so much, I was so scared of losing you too that I fucked up and lost you anyway,” he pulled you back into him, the smell of cedar, bergamot and a slight hint of cigarette smoke, home.
“You didn’t lose me, sweetheart. I love you, more than anything,” he pulled you into him, lips crashing together, cola Popsicle and a small hint of your home cooked cookies that Dustin must have been bringing to him secretly. Everyone loved your cookies. He pulled away and smashed his lips against yours again over and over, the taste of salt now from both of your tears, small lazy kisses planted all over your mouth as he pulled away, your lips slightly swollen, his honey eyes full of life once more, he was never going to let you go. He pulled you flush with his body, your head resting against his chest, as he ran his fingers through your hair, “you’re my home, Y/N. Wherever you are. That’s home to me. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be, okay?” you kissed him again, your cherry chapstick smearing over both of your mouths,
“you’re my home too, Mr. Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington,” you looked up to him, a smile on your face, no longer crying as you knocked your hip with his. The emptiness in your heart glazing over a little, the pieces of your broken heart slowly reconnecting, the feeling of life, love, family.
“Have you seen my hair right now?” he ran a hair though it, washed, but lifeless. “Give me a minute, yeah? Put a movie on.” He kissed you softly before sprinting out of the room. You sat on the sofa you’d sat on countless times as you went through old rentals that would probably never be returned as the video store was one of the places to be destroyed, you placed a VHS in the TV as Steve bounded down the stairs, his hair no longer lifeless and messy, but perfect. Your smile so big your jaw could dislocate, “better? The hair is back,” he grinned and jumped over you on the sofa, “Return of the Jedi? One of my favourites.” He pulled your legs over his lap, both of you draped over the sofa like nothing had changed, his hands caressing your knee, smiles not leaving either of your faces.
“GUYS, CODE BLUEEEE.” Dustin shouted from behind the sofa as everyone else bundled in, “and look at that, Farrah Fawcett spray,” Dustin grinned,
“That’s top secret, dude!” Steve shook his head, a genuine laugh falling from his mouth as everyone pulled blankets and cushions around themselves, your cookies in hand. A good old fashioned movie night, things were going to be okay, you looked over to Steve, his eyes glistening as he squeezed your leg. The people you chose as family, Robin in the corner of the room beaming for the both of you. Both of her best friends back together, where they belong. There was a long road ahead for all of you, but at least you’d always face these things together. You were all so much stronger together. A team. A family.

“1st argument”
There you were with Steve, currently questioning everything you’ve said.A rumor spread and words were said. He apparently heard that you were having a secret relationship with an old teammate. you couldn’t believe that he would think that. you thought you were able to build a trusting relationship with him. “Tell me who was it! Who was the guy you’ve been cheating on me with” Steve shouted. “You tell me! Apparently I’ve been dating someone without me knowing” you replied. Oh how furious you were you wish you could just throw this argument away and just cuddle with Steve but that for sure wasn’t gonna happen anytime soon. you walk around your bedroom, Steve’s eyes following you. “Y’know I don’t even understand. Did I do something wrong? What could I have done for you to cheat on me huh?!” you were now staring at him your eyes shift to his fist, knuckles almost white from how tense he was. He looked so broken by a stupid rumor and as much as you wanted to comfort him you were still mad at him . “ I don’t know what you want from me Steve, you know I would never cheat on you…I love you Steve” you see him soften once he heard you say those 3 words. words he couldn’t even get from his parents. he looks down and runs his hand through his hair. He sits on your bed and filled with regret, thinking how much of an idiot he was. you sit down beside him, hand running down his back hoping to comfort him. he looks at you “I-” “it’s okay Steve I know” “no it’s not okay I was an asshole” he laughs and you do too “yea you kind of were” you both laugh taking in how stupid this argument was. And the rest was all a blur.

Totally Buggin’
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Fem!Reader
Written: May 25th, 2021
Posted: May 27th, 2021
Warning: Swearing, just fluff.
Word Count: 1,802
Summary: The reader and her friends enjoy the Hawkins Fair!
Summer Time Masterlist
“Y/N!”
Grinning you were quickly greeted by the party members. Giggling you welcomed them with open arms.
Once they had greeted you, they began making their way back to their previous places.
“Hey.” Steve’s gentle voice captured your attention.
“Hey.” You grinned standing awkwardly in front of one another.
“I-“
“We-“
Giggling you shook your head playfully. “We should get back to the party.”
“You’re right.” He nodded in agreement.
Leading the way, you couldn’t stop the somersaults in your stomach.
Making your way to the unoccupied loveseat, you plopped down. Steve sitting beside you. Your thighs slightly touching as heat rose in your cheeks.
Clearing your throat you turned your attention anywhere but the man sitting beside you.
“What do you guys what to do today?”
“Well.” Max spoke. “There’s going to be a Fourth of July fair…”
Once Max brought it up, the party began bickering among themselves about whether or not they wanted to go or not.
Letting out a sigh, you leaned back against the couch. Your shoulder brushing against Steve’s in the process.
Turning to face him, he was already gazing at you. Catching him in the act, he cleared his throat attempting to look anywhere else but at you.
Heat danced along your cheeks as you smirked to yourself.
“Fine!” Mike’s voice bellowed. “We’ll go. Only if,” He turned to face you and Steve.
“Only if, Y/N and Steve come with.” His face held a devilish expression, alerting you that he was up to something.
“Mike…” Your voice trailed off.
Turning to face you, Steve gazed at your features. Somersaults erupted in your stomach, as a Twitter patted feeling came up in your chest.
“Fine, we’ll go.” Steve spoke, not taking his eyes off of you.
Whipping your head in his direction, your eyebrow furrowed together in confusion. “Steve-“
“Alright, dick heads.” Steve spoke standing up suddenly. “It’s about time I drop you off.”
The sound of everyone packing up and getting ready bounced off the walls.
“Do you want a ride home?” He questioned his features softening, as he gazed down at you.
“Yes please.” You nodded, offering him a closed lipped smile.
Holding his hand out for you to take, he helped you up to your feet. The close proximity caused the same feelings to return.
Taking a deep breath, you removed your hand and moved to help the party get ready.
The car ride was filled with laughter and loud bickering. Once Dustin was dropped off, you were the only one left. It had become later in the night.
Pulling up to the street you lived on, he pulled to the side of the road. Putting the car in park, Steve turned to face you. The street light illuminating his features, his hair shining. Your mind became plagued with thoughts of the softness of his hair.
“Can…Can we talk?” Steve questioned softly.
Nodding, you hummed in response.
“I-“
“Steve…” Your voice trailed off, you let your head fall back against the head rest in Steve’s car.
Steve opened and closed his mouth as if he was a fish out of water. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“We…We can’t.” You mumbled, gazing into his mesmerizing eyes.
“Why not?” He questioned, anchoring his hand behind your head gently tugging you closer to him.
“Because…” Heat rose in your chest as you were in closer proximity. All valid arguments leaving your mind as you gazed at his plump lip.
“Because why?” Steve teased, his nose bumping yours.
Your words dying on your lips as you close your eyes waiting for the inevitable.
Gently nuzzling your nose, his breath danced along your lips.
“Can I kiss you?” He mumbled upon your lips.
You nodded gently.
“I need to hear you say it, bunny.” He whispered.
“Yes.”
The electricity that filled the car finally snapped. His soft lip enveloping yours. Steve’s hand lacing in your hair holding you close to him.
As soon as the kiss happened, it was over. Resting his forehead against yours, your breaths mingled as you panted.
Reaching up, you laced your hand in his hair gently yanking him back into you. The kiss was much more needier and passionate than before.
Taking his bottom lip between your teeth, you nibbled on it before tugging it and letting it snap back in place. The sound of Steve’s groan filled the car.
Before it could go further, your eyes snapped open as you jolted away.
“Are you okay?” Steve questioned suddenly, his voice filled with worry.
“We…We shouldn’t be doing this.” You muttered, furrowing your eyebrows together in confusion. You reached up touching your lips as you reached for the phantom kiss.
“I’m sorry…” You mumbled. “I have to go.”
Without waiting for a response, you bolted out of Steve’s car, jogging to your house. Leaving a dumbfound man in your wake.
—
“Hi, Mrs. Wheeler.” You greeted as you passed her at the Community Pool.
“Hi, Y/N.” She beamed up at you. “Nancy’s with Barb in the pool.”
“Thanks.” You grinned nodding your head.
Placing your belongings at the pool lounger chair, you made your way over to where your friends where.
“Y/N!” Nancy and Bard chirped happily at you. “You made it!”
“Of course!” You giggled, perching yourself on the edge of the pool. Your legs dangled into the water allowing yourself to get adjusted to the chilly temperature.
“There’s been a lot of hot guys here.” Barb spoke, giving you a toothy grin.
“Oh?” You questioned, feeling a ping of guilt from the other night.
“I’m going to go that way.” Barb spoke pointing at the opposite end of the pool. “And try my luck.” She winked at you and Nancy.
Leaving you and Nancy alone, there was an awkward silence.
“There’s something I have to tell you.” You mumbled, feeling dread wash over you.
“Shoot.” She spoke, placing her arms on the edge of the pool allowing her to kick her feet underneath the water.
“Steve and I kissed.”
“Oh.”
Squeezing your eyes shut, you waited for her to get angry at you and leave you alone sitting on the edge of the pool.
“Okay.” She shrugged, patting your thigh in a comforting manner. “If you’re happy…Then I’m happy.”
“What?” You questioned as your eyes snapped opened, gaping at the woman beside you.
“Yeah, I mean I’ve moved on.” Nancy shrugged. “He’s really changed a lot since high school. Steve’s actually a nice guy now.”
You hummed in response. The sound of people calling your name caught your attention. Turning your head in their direction, you were met with beaming members of the party.
“Y/N!” El exclaimed swimming her way towards you with Max in tow.
“Well, I’m going to go find Bard.” She spoke grinning at you. “See you at the fair.”
Nodding your head, you turned to the two girls in front of you. They began explaining what they did their last girls night. Your gaze wandering around the pool, before their landed on Steve. Gazing at him like a deer in headlights, he was splashing Dustin and Will.
“So,” Max giggled, resting her elbows on the edge beside you. “When are you two going to make your moves.”
“Well…” Your voice trailed off capturing the attention of both girls. “We did kiss the other night.” You giggled, the twitter patted feeling returning.
“What!” They exclaimed in union.
Biting your lip, you nodded your head.
The sound of their squealing filled the air. With widened eyes, you attempted to hush them. Glancing in the direction Steve was, you caught his stare as he sent you a smirk.
Rolling your eyes, you sent him a closed lip smile.
“How was it?”
“Max!” You hissed.
“What? It’s a serious question!”
—
Walking beside Steve, the sound of scream and carnival music filled your ears. Droves of people were at the fair.
Leaning into Steve, you grasped his hand as your other hand rested on his bicep. Glancing down at you, he intertwined your fingers as he gently tugged you closer to him.
The night was filled following the party making sure not lose any of the kids. As you ventured through the grounds, Steve hadn’t let up on holding you close to him.
“I bet I could beat you at that.” Dustin spoke shrugging nonchalantly, poking at the water gun game.
“Oh yeah?” Steve spoke challenging him. “You’re on.”
Paying the vender with tickets, Dustin chose his spot, while Steve turned to face you.
“I-“
Cutting him off, you placed your hands on his jaw gently tugging him into you. Giving him a chaste kiss, you pulled away grinning. Steve gazed at you with widened eyes.
“For good luck.” You mumbled against his lips.
“Steve!” Dustin yelled. “Come on man!”
“Yeah, give me a sec!” He waved a hand behind him attempting to quiet Dustin.
Giggling, you pulled away from him. “Better not keep him waiting.”
Reluctantly he nodded his head before finding his spot. Placing your hands on his shoulders, you stood behind him.
“On your mark, get set, go!” The vender yelled.
The bell rang signaling the start of the game. In no time, Steve had been announced as the winner.
“I’ll take the Kola.” He spoke.
Once he had the stuffed animal, he turned towards you giving it to you.
Furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, you gaped at him. “How…How did you-“
He shrugged shoving his hands into his pockets. “I remembered the first time you told me.” He shrugged gazing down at his feet.
Somersaults erupted in your stomach. Standing on your tippy toes, you placed a hand on his bicep allowing you to steady yourself. You placed a kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you.”
Steve gazed at you with a softened expression.
“Steve!” Dustin yelled, rushing up to you both. “Let’s go! The fireworks are about to start.”
Giggling, you followed behind the boys. Steve reached behind him silently asking for your hand. Grinning, you reached your hand into his intertwining your fingers.
As your group from a spot to sit, everyone splayed along the grass. Steve found a spot gently tugging you down into him. Your back was against his chest, as your legs rested along his as you cuddled into one another in the grass.
“Hey, mind if we join?” Nancy questioned tugging Jonathon along.
“No, not at all.” You responded, grinning at the couple.
Jonathon and Nancy mirrored your and Steve’s position.
The feeling of Steve chuckling caused a rumble in your back.
Fireworks erupted the sky, illuminating the grassy area that was filled with couples, families, and friends.
Humming in content, you allowed yourself to burrow closer to Steve. Wrapping his arms around your waist he nuzzled his face into your neck, making sure to place a gentle kiss in his wake.

I love my boyfriend
Pairings: Steve Harrington x reader, Billy Hargrove x reader, Eddie Munson x reader ( platonic!)
Tw:cheating
Based on the song: I love my boyfriend by princess Chelsea so you might wanna listen to that before reading!
Part 1
——
You’d been in corroded coffin since middle school, your best friend Eddie playing right by your side. Mostly you played drums but every once in a while you’d sing, you wrote a lot of the songs too.
You and Steve had been dating for about 8 months, you loved him of course and you cared for him at least you said but your actions tended to contradict your word’s because when Billy Hargrove walked in a room alone with you and those pretty blue eyes looked down at you your heart never failed to pound through your chest. You kept telling yourself that it was the last time but it had been the “last time “ five times now. Your lips somehow always found there way onto Billy’s. It was something that you just couldn’t seem to help. He was irresistible to you.
“ you excited about singing tonight babe?” Steve asked leaning against the bathroom door while watching you get ready in the mirror. “ a little nervous but of course I’m excited Stevie.” You replied while lining your eyes with black liner. “ I’ll be rooting you on in the crowd, you know I always do babe.” Steve told you, he completely adored you.
After primping and prodding you and Steve headed to your destination to meet Eddie and the rest of the band. “ I’ll see you on stage, good luck pretty girl” Steve told you then gave you a peck on the cheek, he headed out into the crowd and left you behind the curtain. “ you have to tell him.” Eddie said as soon as he left. You looked up, not wanting to admit you knew exactly what he was talking about. You were in denial yourself, you tried so hard to avoid all the guilt. “ tell him what Ed’s?” You replied. Eddie just looked at you with disappointment. You told Eddie absolutely everything, he’d been your very best friend for as long as you can remember. When you told him about Billy he couldn’t believe it, he told you it was wrong and you needed to stop but it wasn’t his place to get involved and he swore you to secrecy. “ look Eddie, I will it’s just easier said than done.” You finally responded to your best friend.
—-
“ let’s go over the set list one more time, what’s the opening song?” Eddie asked changing the subject. “ your going to kill me for this, it’s the song I wrote about loving Steve but sleeping with billy” you told him. “ I’m not mad, it’s a confession. I just hope Harrington catches on. I’m really disappointed in you.” Eddie responded sternly. “ I know Ed’s, I’m sorry.”
It was time to head onto the stage. When you went out there you saw someone that you definitely weren’t expecting to see, Billy Hargrove right there in the front to watch you. Billy would know the meaning of this song is all you could think but would Steve?
Billy gave you a smirk from the crowd, his arms were crossed against his chest. He looked so entertained already yet you hadn’t even started playing. You felt so torn between these boys. You gave him a nod as if to acknowledge his presence. Right after that Steve blew you a kiss from the crowd. Your stomach churned up, you felt dirty, disgusting and guilty but at the same time you felt adrenaline through your body knowing that both the boys were there to watch you. The show must go on though so you began.
“ wow there’s a lot more people than I expected, I want to thank each and every one of you for coming out to support us. This first song is an original written and sung by myself. It’s called I love my boyfriend so let’s get this show started!” You said as you looked out into the crowd, Steve’s face lit up as the music turned on.
————
When the song was over, you noticed Steve leave to the bathroom but Billy stood cheering loudest in the crowd. You felt like you were being taunted. Eddie looked over at you with no words but the feeling between you two said enough.

Family Video Boy 3// S.H.
Warnings: smut, reader losing virginity, sweaty car sex, Steve being sweet during sex

Steve and y/n were naked in the backseat of his car, their bodies were flushed, and their skin sticky with sweat. He was growing hard and the lower part of his frame rested between her thighs. His hands roamed over her body, gripping her hips, then moving up to squeeze her breasts. He moaned softly as he looked into her sexed out eyes and felt her nipples harden against the palm of his hands.
“Mm, Steve.” she cooed, feeling his tip teasing her inner thighs. “Can I touch you?” he asked, breathing heavily. “Yes, please.” she begged, and then felt his fingers graze over her wet folds. Y/n whimpered as his fingertips ran across her clit. She bit her lip to stifle a moan as he began to draw circles there.
She arched her back as he pushed his fingers inside of her. She panted and moaned, just wanting more, “Faster.” she demanded. Steve did as she told him, pumping his fingers quicker and deeper, and soon she was a whimpering, moaning mess.
“Y/n, you’ve been with a guy before right?” he asked, curiously. He had stopped his fingering momentarily, and she looked up at him. “No.” she admitted, “But, I want you to be my first, Steve. It’s always been my fantasy to have you be my first.”
Steve’s face went red and he grinned. “Okay.” he nodded, “I’ll take care of you, alright?” he said, bringing his hand to her face tenderly. He kissed her on lips, then he picked up his jeans from the floorboard, retrieving his wallet out of the back pocket. He pulled out a silver colored square, opening it and rolling on the condom that was in it.
“Don’t need you having my babies right now. Maybe in the future though.” Steve remarked, making y/n giggle before sliding in between her legs once more. “Ready?” “Yes.” she was clearly growing more antsy by the second, scooting inhumanly close to him. He smirked as he noticed her actions. He put his hands on her waist, and she felt the tip of his cock push into her opening.
She gasped, and he looked in her eyes, keeping still inside of her. “You okay?” Y/n took a second, and then nodded, “Mm-hmm, yeah. You can keep going.” “Okay, I’ll go slow, baby. Don’t worry.” He tighten his grip on her waist, and eased his hips forward, slowly stretching her walls.
Y/n put her hands on his arms which were holding him above her. She dug her nails into his skin to help break the mounting pressure she was feeling as his cock filled her up. "Oh my God, Steve!" she cried. "You can take it, can't you?" he asked, his voice all huffy. "Yeah, it just...feels so fucking good." Pleasure was overtaking her pain now. "Please, move Steve." "Oh, as you wish."
Steve picked up his speed, and his skin slapped against y/n's with each thrust. He lay down on her, his chest pressing down on her breasts, and he used all his strength to buck his hips into her. She scraped her nails down his back. He kissed her sloppily with his tongue. A drop of sweat came down his temple and hit her face.
