Why RWBY Criticism is rarely constructive or respectful, and why haters of RWBY hide their toxic behavior behind the “criticism card”

When I blazed a RWBY Positivity Resource post last weekend, I was harassed by RWBY Haters accusing me of being unable to take criticism.

These people? Kept saying “RWBY Bad” or “RT is pandering” or “Fandom is toxic” but act like they know what criticism is.

They also screamed about “valid criticism” and “lost potential”

If you ever call out their severe hatred towards RWBY and their harassment of RWBY Fans, critics accuse anyone defending the show from their criticism of being “misogynists” or “toxic positivity”

I have never heard of toxic positivity until RWBY Critics started using it in their videos to harass RWBY Fandom and the writers.

Vexed Viewer repeatedly makes one video after another insulting female characters...People claim he’s “progressive” even as he insulted the #MeToo movement in 2019 while he was mourning Vic Micnogna’s sentencing.

UoW basically made transphobic rewrites that supported abusive relationships. Which was after his ex, another youtuber, left UoW for being emotionally abusive, something that UoW’s rewrite promotes, to where Bumbleby and Renora are written as emotionally abusive, and people defend that?

Raymond McNeil made sexist and racist “fixing rwby” that basically was one big middle finger to each and everyone one of rwby’s themes and elements (he made a sexual predator the stepfather of Yang and included “faunus heat cycles” while having women lose to men in most fights)

And Eruptionfang promoted the toxic “qrow is ruby’s father theory” and repeatedly idolized adam taurus before his channel got taken down.

A criticism is meant to be respectful, meant to be helpful.

Accusing the show of “sucking, bad, etc”? Wanting RWBY to die? NOT Criticism.

Behold every single RWBY Critic. “RWBY deserves better than the writers who literally created it”

These are the same people who like to talk about Monty’s vision or what Monty wanted.

But what was it that Monty wanted.

Here’s the first from the man himself! The first one being? Qrow is not Ruby Rose’s father.

But as you know, every single defender of this theory accuses Monty and CRWBY of being liars.

When a theory is shut down by the writers/creators, its no longer a headcanon, its an obsession with wishing a lie would be truth.

Too many “youtubers who claim to love RWBY more than CRWBY” refuse to accept canon because it doesn’t serve their bias. This youtuber, Sytokun? Who is basically making “RWBY Remnants” Basically claims to love RWBY but repeatedly insults the show’s writing and its writers. How many times must the writers Debunk a theory before these fanatics accept that the theory is wrong, and that insulting the writers because you don’t get what you want is wrong?

THIS is why I treat the “Qrow is Ruby’s father” theory as beyond contemptible. Because not only does it involve the writers lying for years on end, romanticizes the deadbeat dad, and encourages spitting on the complex family dynamic that is the xiao long rose family?

But also 95% of every single one of these theorists has insulted Monty, his friends, etc....and then claim “its just a headcanon, bro” when called out on their toxicity.

Offensive humor is dead.

There was a time when shock value in art actually meant something, but that pretty much died when the androgynous costumes and make-up of hair metal bands like Twisted Sister went out of fashion.

The so-called “Social Justice Warrior” who overreacts to everything seems like a dying breed when the “anti-woke” part of the internet is somehow trying to defend racist stereotypes and whine about “cancel culture”. We’ve gone from All in the Family to Family Guy, and it only encourages bigots to feel like they have the freedom to be as outrageous and hurtful as they want.

The conservative right-winger who’s clean-shaven, stiff, and excessively well-mannered to the point of tyranny is also a dying breed. The alt-right has appropriated rebellious rock ‘n’ roll fashion and imagery, completely forgetting that if they walked around wearing bandanas and sleeveless shirts and beards merely fifty years ago, they’d be harrassed by policemen and considered dangerous by the church.

There’s also the type of stand-up comedian who somehow believes that you can’t tell a joke that isn’t offensive. I don’t understand where they’re coming from at all, considering that there are millions of comedies that don’t talk about bodily functions or race or sex or drugs. Like puns. Nobody ever said a pun was offensive.

There was a time when being outrageous and edgy was a way of rattling the cages of conservatives, back when there was the Hayes Code or the Comics Code or fuddy-duddy network censors, and people like Mel Brooks and the Monty Python team were making statements about stifling society. But now we’re swamped in too many R-rated comedies that seem to think that the more offensive and/or disgusting the joke is, the better. Comedies like this don’t actually understand what a film like Blazing Saddles was actually trying to do! We’ve gotten to the point that there are folks who think that making jokes about racial and sexist stereotypes- things that actually hurt people- is somehow an inalienable right and trying to stop them or make them sincerely apologize is trying to “take away their freedom”. Pretty crummy freedom, if you ask me.

This is why wholesome memes are a thing. And I’m so grateful for it.

this is volume 7 of supposedly 10 so three more seasons and they still haven’t sat down and talked about what they’re supposed to to against the immortal grimm lady, they don’t know where the relic at beacon is and ozpin’s still ghosting them, and they’re foolishly gathering them all in one spot instead of taking the maiden and the relic and putting both of them on the farest corners of the planet? I thought they were going to atlas to meet with someone Weiss knew as the Anton Sokolov Play dishonored! of their world to build a rocket and send at least one rocket into a black hole and never have an issue with Salem again.

three more seasons and a plan hasn’t even been formed to deal with her or the relics, Emerald and Mercury are doing nothing, Cinder has no goal except to be the new adam and chase the heros and get her ass kicked, Hazel’s doing nothing, The comms are down and we haven’t heard a peep from whoever runs Vacuo, Blake and Ruby have still had barely any interaction, Weiss hasn’t apologized for her racism, We never addressed how and why did Raven appear in Yang’s dreams, Why did ren from shields over his hands and show off feats of strength that rival yangs or his weird ability to sense tyrian? Neo’s eyes changed color when she saw Raven and her teleport ability. Lore Like how semblance, Lien (the money that looks like credit cards but has zero numbers on it work) The examples of agriculture, Flora and Fauna, dust and so on.

January Media Madness

It’s a new year, and yes I’m still keeping track of the stuff I watch and/or read. I really just like being able to keep track of everything that came out during the year, and I like to shout my thoughts into the void. And maybe someone will find something they like.

Movies!

The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals: Okay, not a movie, but it’s the latest musical from Starkid so I had to include it somewhere. And this time it’s a horror alien/zombie take over that causes everyone to act like they’re in a musical, and humanity’s only hope is an average guy who happens to not like musicals. That may not sound bad, BUT THINK OF THE IMPLICATIONS! The plot could sort of meander at times, but it’s hilarious and also pretty dark for Starkid. If nothing else, watch it because Lauren Lopez is a goddess. 9/10

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: Everyone’s favorite silly King Arthur searching for the holy grail story. I hadn’t watched this movie since I was a kid, and there was so much stuff I forgot about! And yeah it’s still pretty great. I do feel like it drags in the middle a little, but I still always enjoy the tomfoolery! 9/10

Three Identical Strangers: A documentary about a set of identical triplets who were separated at birth and the sinister intentions of the adoption agency who separated them. On top of being an interesting story, it is super thought provoking bringing up questions of scientific morality, nature vs nurture, and mental health...which does make it a little depressing. I love the way it sets up the mystery of the story, but it also makes you feel terrible for trying to plot out and guess the story of these actual human beings’ lives. So I’d recommend it to anyone who is interested in crazy stories and scientific corruption! 9/10

Venom: A classic tale of a boy and his symbiote. In which the weirdest investigative reporter in the world is possessed by an alien parasite while trying to stop a corrupt corporation from constantly murdering people. Guys, I originally never planned to see this movie. I never cared about Venom. I was never big into the Spiderman universe, but then this movie came out and everyone was saying how weird it was...and how Eddie and Venom are like a thing...so curiosity got the better of me. And I’m kind of underwhelmed. I think I would have liked it more if I never had any expectations going into it, because it really wasn’t as weird as I thought it would be. The first 30 minutes were a slog, the dialogue was clunky, the plot was very predictable and basic, and I feel like Eddie and Venom didn’t have enough interaction. But it had its moments, I get why some people love it, and I did like what I saw of the symbiote relationship, so all in all it was just..okay. Oh well. 6.5/10

Mama Mia Here We Go Again: The just as ridiculous sequel to Mama Mia, featuring more dumb plots that don’t fit together, more dumb writing, and more over the top performances. Just like the first one, it’s a silly excuse to put some ABBA songs in a movie and make you have fun, and it accomplishes that in spades. Because if you’re watching a Mama Mia movie for the “plot” or anything other than the musical numbers and silliness, you’re making a huge mistake. It is a little clunkier trying to weave two timelines together, but who cares because they’re singing Dancing Queen! As an actual movie, we all know it’s barely passable as a 6/10 but just for getting drunk with your friends and having fun it’s a 9/10

Books!

The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis: The fifth/third book in the Chronicles of Narnia in which a boy and a talking horse run away from the land of Calormen to get to Narnia...and find out about a plot to take over Narnia along the way. I know some people think this is the most interesting book in the series plot wise, and technically there is more plot...but it’s boring as hell. I really think Lewis’s normal interjections would have made it more entertaining, but he doesn’t use his author’s voice at all! Not only is it written in an incredibly circular and drawn out way (some people literally tell stories like they’re writing the bible), but it’s also SUPER RACIST and kind of sexist too. I was so excited because when the book first started I thought we were getting a canonical protagonist of color...and then he turns out to be a kidnapped white boy surrounded by “savages.” Yes we have Aravis...but I really don’t know how to feel about her. Also Bree the horse is really just an asshole, so it’s hard to like any of the characters. I did appreciate having adult Edmund and Susan around though, so it’s not a total waste. The truth is, this is the book that I could barely get through as a kid and would constantly fall asleep reading so I barely remembered anything besides the fact that I didn’t like it. 3/10

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson: In a distant future, humans are trapped on a wasteland planet where their only hope for survival are teenagers flying spaceships while fighting a mysterious alien race. Aka: local girl is constantly dumped on by society and makes friends with a talking spaceship. Okay this book definitely has its problems, but I mostly don’t care because 1. The world building is great. 2. Spensa is a fun main character. 3. All the side characters have distinguishable personalities and interactions *cough* m-bot *cough*. And 4. The plot could be predictable at times but I really liked following the mystery of it all...even if there’s some weird chosen one type of bullshit going on towards the end. It has a major season one Attack on Titan vibe with all the questions about humanity’s history and mankind uniting to fight a mysterious enemy. This is a super fun read that kept me theorizing and was also incredibly motivational. Did I like all of Sanderson’s decisions when it came to which characters died? Hell no. Do I think the government would have a lot more backlash considering its dumbass way of fighting wars? Yes. But I’d still recommend it, and I’m still looking forward to the next book! 8/10

TV Shows!

Aggretsuko: The most adorable musical comedy anime of 2018, where Retsuko, a 25 year old office worker is getting fed up with her job and copes with life by singing aggressive death metal songs...and by the way everyone’s a cute animal. I’m a little late to this party, but this show is so precious and also disturbingly accurate to real life. Retsuko is so relatable, Haida’s crush on her is well executed and not forced, there’s great working women solidarity (Gori and Washimi are the fucking queens of anime side characters) and the metal is so well integrated! Please watch this charming show and the Christmas special if you haven’t already! I NEED ANOTHER SEASON NOW! 10/10

A Series of Unfortunate Events (season 3): The final season of the Baudelaires’ tale of misery and woe. And man did they stick the landing. “But it doesn’t leave things vague enough, they didn’t leave the sugar bowl a mystery.” GOOD! I’ve had to deal with Snicket’s badly written ending to the books since 2006. I love that they explained as much as they did. The ending was bittersweet and more concrete while still delivering the message of how the world is morally gray. Also Quigley was amazing, Sunny was amazing, FERNALD WAS AMAZING! KIT WAS AMAZING! EVERYONE WAS AMAZING! And I almost cried seeing the kids in their outfits from the book covers. I wish Jacqueline was in it, but I think her character would have felt redundant with Kit in the mix. This was an amazing adaption all around, and this season did a great job at putting some of the more...difficult books on screen without it feeling out of place. Even if you haven’t read the books, I encourage anyone who likes mysteries and different forms of storytelling to suffer with the rest of us! 10/10

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K (season 1): Local overpowered psychic anime boy just wants to be ignored and blend in with society, but the universe constantly surrounds him with silly situations that cause him to use his powers. I finally got around to watching this show, and it’s hilarious. Kusuo is a great deadpan main character who is definitely ace as hell, and the English dub is actually pretty good! I don’t really want to watch the show in Japanese now because I feel like the dub does a better job at timing the comedic lines and distinguishing everyone’s thoughts. So now I’m upset that the second season hasn’t been dubbed (thanks Netflix). But yeah it’s a great silly show to binge watch. 10/10

Community: The misadventures of a wacky study group going to the world’s worst community college. You know, the one with all the memes? Okay, I know I’m the last one to watch this and  technically I still have a season and a half left at this point, but I thought I’d include it anyway. This show is such a wild ride that I don’t even know what to think about it anymore. The first two seasons were pretty average with a few absolutely brilliant episodes thrown in. And then...the paintball episodes happened, and the show just became amazing. I do have a lot of questions though....like if the main character is a lawyer (sort of), why does he never sue the dean for sexual harassment? Why does Pierce, the resident old, sexist, racist, problematic baby boomer have an “arc” centered around a logical fallacy. No one wants to hang out with him because he’s terrible, but he’s upset because he feels left out and constantly does terrible things to get back at them? I literally almost dropped the show because I couldn’t take him anymore, and then the writers just magically dial him back in his last seasons...which I’m thankful for. And I don’t even know where to being with Chang. BUT this show is a testament to creative writing and innovative meta ways to tell stories. The rest of the study group is made up of hilarious well balanced characters that all have their distinct broken but quirky personalities. And I love them all...except Pierce. So, even though I haven’t finished it, I’d give it an 8.5/10 so far.

Superstore: A sitcom about the daily struggles of workers in a W*lmart-esque superstore. I finally caught up to it, and it’s still fine. It’s not great, but not terrible either. It is incredibly accurate though, coming from someone who works retail. The best parts of the show are the scene transitions because they show all the things customers are doing in the store. And most of the time I just nod and go “yeah I’ve seen that.” This is one of those shows to have on for the sake of just having something on. It has its moments. 7/10

Honorable Mentions

Because these are the reasons why I didn’t really read much this month...or watch many movies.

YOUNG JUSTICE is officially back with the long awaited season 3. And it’s still pretty great, but man I wish I had rewatched the original series.

Netflix released the Taylor Swift Reputation stadium performance. So now you all know how much of a slut for Taylor Swift I am. I can’t help it if her latest album is basically Captive Prince the musical!

The Masked Singer (US version) is dragging me into a spiral of conspiracy theories. Please watch this ridiculous reality show where celebrities wear elaborate costumes and a super annoying judging panel tries to guess who they are. I’m in hell, because this show is set up terribly, but I also don’t want to leave.

Life is Strange 2: episode 2 was finally released. And I’m actually loving it. These games have a special place in my heart for some reason.

New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe came out and I hate myself for buying these stupid games because they consume all my time, and I don’t even really like them.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue review.

If you blindly love this book to the point you will become furious if anyone dare criticizes it- scroll past.

The books beginning was boring and maybe that's why the author decided to flip the script and write in alchemy and pirates. It felt like this book was having an identity crises. I let it slide cause atleast the book would have some interesting antics.

My biggest issue with the book was the mc himself, Henry or Monty. I'll call him Monty for this review though. The second biggest issue was the handling of racism and abliesm. All three will go hand in hand unfortunately.

I was already disappointed the book that's supposed to be historical yet picks and chooses when to be historically accurate, choose to keep the homophobia, sexism and abliesm. But it wasn't the nail in the coffin. Monty was.

Monty is a white and his lover, Percy, is mixed raced but doesn't have white passing privilege. This was fine, until Monty says a blatantly racist thing (pg 68) yet we're supposed to believe he's well meaning cause 1 page back he was defending Percy against racist. News flash, writing the white Savior trope doesn't gloss over racist actions Monty does. And we're supposed to gush over this pairing but I lost immediate interest after that. How can I enjoy a book when the romance between Monty and Percy is a big thing yet I couldn't ship it. I'm black and I found what Monty said abhorrent. Percy is rightfully mad but Monty is angry? For what, he has no right to be but this will continue to happen with every fight they have. The formula goes like this. Percy rightfully calls him out on something. Monty gets angry and says something selfish, racist, or ableist. Percy doesn't want to talk to him. Monty is even angrier and storms off to get himself into trouble. Percy and his sister Felicity, then, have to try and get him and themselves out of trouble cause whatever he does, puts them in danger as well. Let me make this clear, antics cause by a well meaning but idiotic character can be charming... if done right. Flawed Characters that eventually learn to be better people can work...if done right. Lee fails to do either because no is given the right to be angry at Monty for longer than however much time until Monty does another selfish and dumb thing that'll put the group at risk. He never learns. He repeats every action and Percy forgives him.

At the very least, Monty could apologize but he doesn't. A sob story about Monty being an abuse victim, bi, and depressed doesn't make the hurtful things he says to both Percy and and sometimes Felicity better. Being queer doesn't stop you from being racist. Being queer doesn't stop you from being ableist. Being queer doesn't stop you from being sexist. However, Lee gives him a free pass because she write poc characters with endless patience. Percy and Felicity try to explain twice the book but it is cut short because the plot is still moving and why would Lee ever stop the plot to help better poor 'ol Monty.(Sarcasm)

Monty doesn't understand what Percy and Felicity mean when they explain the struggles of other minorities. I think Monty becomes less sexist but of course he does cause the write is a white woman. Why would she care to try and make her mc less racist.🙄 Maybe it's just me but if you're white and dating a disabled poc and are clueless about the racism and ableism they face maybe, just maybe, you should listen to them when they explain their struggles.

But in the kind of audacity only a white person would dare write, Percy is the to apologize. Percy. Percy is always in the right with this arguments. No joke. He has a point everytime. But he apologizes cause his love for Monty is never ending. Him being ignorant is seen as a lovable trait. Yuck 🤢.

Monty in turn....does not apologize. He gives him a sob story about how he hates himself, would have left if he was in Percy's shoes-Percy should have left, and that's about one of the few smart things he said in this entire novel- yadda ya, he's a terrible person and he knows it- but that isn't A DAMN APOLOGY. Admitting to being a your a shitty person isn't an apology. It's a pitty party. Dare I say a "Oh won't you feel bad for me." ploy, if I thought Monty was a smart enough to come up with such an idea.

Monty's growth is him learning to fight back, like his sister, become less sexist. But I'd say that only stretches to his sister.

No one else really changed, but to be honest there wasn't a lot to anyone's character. Percy is half black, adores his instrument, has epilepsy, has been vegetarian for 2 years,kind, has endless patience and loves Monty unconditionally. That's about it. I'll likely never know more about him cause he doesn't get a book of his own. A blessing in disguise because I don't want Lee ever writing about race again. Especially not from the point of view of a half black queer man.

Felicity is the headstrong feminist character. Smart, wants to be a doctor and tired of these coward men and asexual coded.

She gets hers own book but after this mess of a first book. I don't want to give Lee any more of my money and I don't want to deal with Monty even if I no longer have to be trapped in his head.

2 out of 5 stars. 2 stars cause the plot was ok and literally every other character was better than Monty. Percy and Felicity were the saving graces for this book.

Miles has been known to disregard virtually all criticism if it’s not worded nicely, bemoans not knowing how to write racism well (and then going on to still not change how he writes racism), put a lot of favoritism towards jaune, and in give the rest of the main cast the shaft in general.

That’s full of shit because A. He has openly accepted criticism and your definition of ‘nicely worded’ is ‘reducing the number of death threats to one’. B. you guys are even worse at that and you suck off each other and C. Miles has outright said he hates voicing Jaune at this point and OTHER WRITERS write his scenes now.

At one point, he said that if he had known how popular Pilot Boi would have become, he would have kept the line about him having a boyfriend in the scene, not realizing that the issue would have been him pulling a “Bury Your Gays” right there. His inability/unwillingness to learn from his mistakes is what makes people dislike him.

That’s a complete lie because Miles SPECIFICALLY said they removed that line BECAUSE of that dumbass trope.

In a post-Volume 3 interview with Buzzfeed, Kerry made a comment that heavily implied that Miles shoved in Silver Eyes without consulting him. Miles has had a history of just also being really cocky. And while I haven’t heard him doing it much now, responses to the criticisms regarding the plot holes and such were met with “Monty wrote it.”- Effectively trying to deflect blame.

So basically ‘Imma make up shit that never happened to bash Miles for it’ even though when KERRY HIMSELF takes responsibility for Jaune’s scenes, you still blame Miles.

Oh and Monty probably DID write it because those Silver Eyes only exist because of the Maidens. And who wrote in the Maidens despite his cowriters asking him not to? ... Yeah I thought so.

Effectively, Miles has acted a lot like jaune in the sense that he just doesn’t want to take responsibility for his screw-ups.

B. It projects his inability to separate fiction and reality by seeing Jaune and Miles as interchangeable.

Miles also surrounds himself with fans who won’t complain about anything, constantly reassuring that he’s doing fine without providing any tips on how to improve. He’s also hypocritical, making claims that LoK missed the mark when rwby seems to be heading in the exact same direction.

A. He’s never shown to block anyone so it’s their own damn fault for not bringing their compliants directly to Miles.

B. He’s repeatedly said how he’s improved and repeatedly said he’s not a good writer.

And C. he said the FINALE of LoK JUST missed the mark and the rest was execellent, you just cut everything inconvienent to you out.

On top of which, while not directly Miles’ fault, there’s also how the company has treated Monty’s friends and family. Sheena was cut off from the project unceremoniously and Shane was fired. This was before all the lay-offs. Miles and Kerry took a show that had so much potential, and made it a run of the mill show that doesn’t really do much.

A. Shane was fired because he refused to change the system that only worked for the one guy who DIED.

B. It was never his fault his happened so you’re full of it to blame him.

And C. Considering that you assholes are quickly becoming a minority, you just sound desperate to reaffirm your delusions.

The LGBT+ Rep came off as really bad considering that the first confirmed LGBT+ Character we had was Ilia, a bitter lesbian who was complicit in the attempted murder of Blake’s parents and was willing to drag Blake back to Adam against her will. The way they handle racism is horrible too, as it comes off as “The oppressed people should stick up for the oppressors and simply ask kindly that they not be oppressed.”

A. You PURPOSEFULLY took Illa to be that way. Illa was never bitter about Blake not loving her, she STOPPED the attempted murder and felt CONFLICTED the entire way. You’re actually BEING homophobic for assuming g her flaws had anything to do with her sexuality.

And B. No it comes across as ‘You shouldn’t be a violent douchebag no better than your enemies’ AKA atheme of the damn show, you just want to be violent.

The way the narrative frames female characters’ reactions to male characters is also one of note. Yang rushes in to save Blake, and she’s met with belittlement and a lost arm. Jaune rushes in to get revenge and he’s met with unlocking his semblance and being validated. Yang, Blake, and Salem are all traumatized and they’re met with “They should get over it! They ruined everything! They’re being drama queens!” while tai, jaune, and oz are also traumatized and they’re met with “Oh, poor things! They deserve all the sympathy! They should be allowed to rest!” Yang yells at Oscar to bring back Ozpin and she’s met with “What a bitch” qrow and jaune physically assault Oscar and they get “Well, they’re angry and are feeling betrayed, it’s understandable!”- Miles’ inability/unwillingness to address these issues is also a point of contempt.

Translation: “He’s bad for not being sexist like me.” Because this shit makes in context, Dudeblade just sees dicks and vaginas.

Plus, Miles was known for constantly saying stuff like “I’m not a professional writer!” Which led to his staunch defenders to leap to his defense and make excuses. While I have no issues with Miles not being a professional writer, he doesn’t ask for help, nor does he accept it when it’s offered. It’s very jaune-esque.

First, let’s do Fairy Wizard AKA the pseudo intellectual who said RT should have super buff characters because realistic then said RT should have super fate characters because unrealistic.

Honestly, I have very little hope of rwby ever getting ANY lgbtq+ rep, much less anything meaningful. Time and time again the writers had countless opportunities to do so, all of which were passed up. I would be surprised if this volume got anything more than volume 3 did  (though it’s more likely we’ll get nothing like always). As far as which characters end up being queer is concerned, RT have written themselves in a corner of their own design. If they confirm BB then people will be mad at them for “sacrificing artistic integrity to satisfy fans” (as if rwby has any of that left) and if they *don’t* confirm BB or actively make it a canon notp then people will riot at the queerbaiting (and there’s been A LOT of that in rwby, especially considering the bmblb controversy/clusterfuck).

No actually, you people will be absolutely obnoxious about it if there is any LGBT character (not Bumbleby which, surprise, isn’t the only route for making an LGBT character), demand more and more while bitching about every straight couple in the show, screech homophobia whenever things don’t go exactly your way while l also claiming to speak for every LGBT person as if they are a hivemind, which is ACTUALLY homophobic as fuck.

The only people who pushed themselves into a corner is YOU people: Either it doesn’t happen because you were so fucking toxic about the subject and then blame RT, leading them to stop interacting with fans or outright be spiteful towards them. Or it does happen, you bitch about how you didn’t get it immediately or some equally stupid with the same reaction. Everyone blames the LGBT community for it further discourages diversity while you ruined the show because you are THAT insecure about yourselves that everything in life must mirror you or bow to your will. Either way, you look worse and your situation gets worse. Although I doubt you acre since this lets you play victim.

So if the character never shows up: you have no one to blame but yourselves.

Either way, if their takeaway is “gee we should have never included this character so let’s kill them off” then that would be THEIR fault for misreading and mishandling the situation, NOT the fans’. Personally I think that’s highly unlikely to happen, but the fact that this is considered a concern is quite telling of RT’s history of lgbtq+ rep and the treatment of its queer characters.
