Hi I just wanted to say I love your art sm and you actually helped me get back into drawing a ton, for a while I had this weird idea in my brain that I HAD to draw semi realism/realism otherwise every man I drew would be horribly twinkified and I'd never be able to draw the characters I liked, but I just drew my first ever man I'm happy with in a style that isn't semi realism and a lot of it was inspired by the way you don't always close your lines w lineart and don't use a ton of pen pressure sensitivity and your art comes out incredible. Those were things I always did but would try to stop doing because people told me they were stuff you "weren't supposed to do" and it just ended with me being frustrated whenever I drew and hating my art. But seeing you do it and make absolutely gorgeous stuff really gave me that confidence to just say fuck it and do it anyways and I'm starting to actually get in the flow of drawing again, so thank you :)

This is so so cool! I struggled for About Ten Years with not being able to line in a way I liked, and I’m so glad that my way of doing it is inspirational to someone else! I hope you figure it out faster than I did haha.

Style wise, it kinda just happens, I don’t think many people fit super neatly into boxes anyway, so don’t stress over it, I definitely don’t know what my style is defined as haha! I thought it was semi realism til I googled it HAHA. I copied artists like makani and coey, reapersun and loish when I was a teenager and it definitely swayed my style!

Also I relate extremely to not really vibing with how other artists do lines. For me personally I THINK its because I think in shapes and not lines, and I started out painting and working in tone. Like real life doesn’t have lines, and when you paint it’s generally just varying between soft and hard edges, using the colour and tone to do the lifting for you. It’s way harder to figure out where to put a line, or what things need a line and what doesn't, if you’re not used to thinking that way.

I definitely ink more like I paint, kind of thinking about planes and shadow or overlap more than the outline? Like I draw the top curve of the cheek, then the jowl, then the chin, it kind of feels like cutting a 3D shape out in the space…? But I think that’s why mine are often choppy haha. In traditional art I always preferred a square brush, which carries over to my preference for minimal width variation on tablet.

Saying that, I *do* sometimes work more with width, though it's still messy and choppy haha. my trick with those is that I always choose a brush that has a fairly consistent minimum width, I can draw with a fairly fixed line, but also press down a little to get the variation when I want it. (As opposed to brushes that kind of go really thin and really thick with little effort, like a brush pen, I just don't have the control...) Below are my main blobby inkers, I can pretty comfortably draw a fixed width face, but I can make it wider if I want.

Anyway I went off on a tangent, I hope you can make art in ways that feel natural to you! And I hope making art brings you joy!

OMG where do I even start??? A lot of the fandom (not the whole fandom, but a lot of them) are obsessed with Will Graham being traumatized helpless baby boy sub and it's just like… Hello? Did you watch the same show as me?

Like the list goes on and on but guys, come on. Will Graham lives by himself with his 7 dogs and takes care of all of them. He's an FBI agent. HE'S LITERALLY KILLED PEOPLE BOTH WITH HIS BARE HANDS AND WITH WEAPONS. THIS MAN IS A SCRUFFY OUTDOORSMAN WHO'S LIKE 6'0" AND MAYBE NOT BUILT BUT DEFINITELY NOT SCRAWNY AND IN NEED OF PROTECTING. I think a lot of people get caught up in the fact that Will Graham is played by Hugh Dancy and he was very much a "pretty boy" character in a lot of stuff before he played Will Graham and this is also exacerbated by Hannibal being played by Mads Mikkelsen who is "slightly taller rugged silver fox European man who is going to fix my daddy issues" and since Will and Hannibal are the main couple a lot of people are like "well they can't both be big tough top guys so obviously it's the guy who's slightly bigger and buffer and older"

Will Graham is a 38 year old FBI criminal profiler who has killed dangerous people with his bare hands, went to prison for some time, masterfully manipulated others, also hunts and fishes, and he's like very good at reading people and their motivations. Incredibly smart everyday man.

Sweet JESUS sometimes the fandom makes him out to be more of a helpless puppy than he really is. Granted, even if he has his moments of mental vulnerability, it's never treated as weak by the show. He's managed to persist through some of the hardest situations. AND LIKE I GET IT, HE'S REALLY PRETTY WHEN HE'S IN PAIN AND SUFFERING BUT HE'S NOT!!! A BABY!!! Anyway I've seen a lot of fandom takes where he's been twinkified to high hell or portrayed as helpless/submissive and often it entirely diminishes that he's a grown fucking person (who has KILLED AND WILL DO IT AGAIN).

What are your thoughts on Infidget (the ship of Infinite and Gadget the Wolf)?

i think its fine? i dont inherently dislike it or anything, and i dont mind seeing it from time to time. the only thing that i dont like is like, a lot of the shipping community's interpretations of it. and by that i mean the people that twinkify and feminize gadget into being a little wooby baby that cant do anything without his big strong man and infinite is just the stereotypical scary-on-the-outside soft-on-the-inside masc/male/im a man/im he him boyfriend. either that or gadget is fine and its just infinite who is extremely out of character. i had a lot of "he would not fucking say that" moments with infinite when infidget was at its most popular bc these kinds of depictions were everywhere and it was really annoying

the only version of infidget ive ever shipped was a lovers to friends to enemies to... somethings type deal where they dont go back to how they used to be by the end but its not vitriolic, they just outgrew each other in their own ways during the events of forces. that or their relationship cant get mended at all and theres no closure bc infinite dies or whatever like he did in canon. and i know this is the best version of infidget bc i made it up, thanks

i actually shipped it before forces even came out bc i thought that that was sort of the route that sonic team was going to take with tying the avatar into the story. it made sense to me for the avatar (or in this case gadget) to have some sort of previous history or connection with infinite bc in my onion, that makes their dynamic a little spicier and more compelling. in my version, gadget and infinite (then zero) used to be very close until zero started getting more involved with a local gang, the jackal squad, which began to drive a wedge between them until they got more and more distant from each other. and then some more time passes and gadget hasnt heard from zero for a long time and then the events of forces start. i think part of the idea was from this dialogue that we got to hear when footage of infinites second battle came out before the game itself:

-which implied that the avatar and infinite had history. which was technically true, but it was within the timeline of the game bc it turned out he was referring to like. the flashback cutscene of the avatar being too scared to fight back the first time they ran into infinite before joining the resistance, so it wasnt what i was hoping for

another reason iirc was uhhhh whatshisface? sega scourge on youtube? they made a theory video about infinite getting his mind wiped by the ruby or something and that added fuel to the fire. its a really cool concept and while i dont think that the avatar wanting to avenge those they lost is necessarily bad, i feel like its just kind of meh for the kind of story forces was trying to tell, what with the friendship-is-cool themes and whatnot. so i thought the avatar/gadgets arc was going to be we get to find out how they and infinite (or at least just the former lol) know each other, and how infinite became infinite in the first place, and gadget wanted to both help put a stop to everything but also get his friend back through, you guessed it, the power of friendship. hooray! i read a really good fic that was like that called til we touch the sun on a03 (that fic still makes me go insane thinking about it) that went with a sidestory for gadget that was quite similar to what i just described

plus the idea of infinite and gadget having shared a past but only one of them remembers it and now has to deal with a monster that looks like who they used to be but is no longer the same in every other regard due to them going dark side (willingly or unwillingly) is super angsty. and i like my ships raw and some degree of brutal for the soul. it keeps me young

but yeah im overall neutral. tl;dr: infidget is a fine ship, i just wish it had more canon-supported flavour and i wish the majority of shippers would stop writing infinite so poorly to make him fit properly into their milquetoast domestic fluff romances, but whatever. we all get enjoyment out of different things, even if theyre wrong :3 (for safety reasons i have to disclose that the previous statement was a joke)

Gil: saddest most pathetic frail little man. Literally looks like he’s dying because he is! Crooked nose from fighting so much. He’s too shaky to shave himself and Erzsi is the only person he trusts to pt a razor to his throat so if she’s not around he gets kind of scruffy. And fine I’ll say it he was in a Camp and has a tattoo to show for it.

Erzsi: r/fit lady… does CrossFit and jogs like 10 miles a day. Killer muscle definition and abs of steel. A bit lacking in the boob department but nobody’s perfect and Gil has always been an ass man so it’s okay. Gorgeous dark brown hair and a prominent nose. Sculpted cheekbones and thinner lips. All in all a pretty angular appearance that’s still distinctly feminine.

Katya: STRONG GIRL! FARM! She’s a lot of woman…. Yes she is tall. Yes she is strong. Yes she is fat. Hourglass figure with body for dayssssss. Her face is pretty round but she’s still got those high cheekbones and rosebud lips. Prominent nose but not like Ivan’s. She has nipple piercings! Her hair is a pretty silvery blonde and she keeps it short so she can just put it back with a bandana.

Mattie: Big guy. Think hockey player in hibernation. Im so tired of people twinkifying Matthew and I will not stand for it!!! Also a bottle blonde but more vigilant about his roots than Alfred. Also tan skin but not as warm as his brother. The wavy hair was a gift from his papa but his curl pattern has been fried by bleach over the last few decades. Blessed and cursed by hockey player ass

Ber: built for endurance! Strong and stocky, like he could chop up firewood like a breeze AND keep you warm at night. Second tallest nord!c. Not glaring but squinting 24/7 because he needs new glasses but he’s too cheap to buy them lol. Stick straight straw blonde hair that he can’t do much with besides brush back and pray it stays. Little rainbow tattoo behind his left ear. Keeps a neat beard in the winter.

Ti: hurhfhfjdkjfkdjfj plump. Like there’s no other way to put it the guy is just fat. Still very strong but you wouldn’t know it looking at him. Built like a moomintroll. Very proud of how he looks except that he’s got a round face and can’t grow a beard which makes him look like less of a threat like no motherfucker I’ll kill you!! Pretty blonde hair that can do this nice swoopy thing to stay out of his face. Tits >>>

Mads: triangle man!!! Broad shoulders, defined muscle, taper down into a small waist. Strong arms and legs. Freckles aaaaall over that really pop out when he gets some sun. Strawberry blonde hair that sticks straight up so he’s learned to embrace it. Nose is crooked from being punched in the face a few too many times. Sharp defined jaw so he doesn’t like to hide it with facial hair.

Lu: *deep breath* CHUBBY LUKAS SUPREMACY!!! Stop Kate Mossifying my boy he takes Thorazine and it made him fat. He’s on the indoorsy side so although he does exercise some he’s not as muscular as Mads, Ber, or Ti. Platinum blonde hair he straightens and pins back because otherwise the waves are just too much. He would have defined cheekbones and jaw if his face wasn’t chubby lol. Thin lips and a thin, sharp nose.

Eirí: scrawny lil kid. The shortest nord!c. Not much substance to him at all so he dresses in somewhat baggy clothes to make him look bigger. Silvery blonde hair that he straightens like his brother. Occasional issues with acne and miserable volcanic pimples so he’s got some ice pick scarring. Same sharp nose and thin lips as his brother.

Feliks: Skinny queen, fairly toned but generally model-type thin. Soft blonde hair around his shoulders. Prominent nose and thin lips. Scarred up a lot over the last millennia.

Vi: Also scrawny, but you can tell that he used to be strong.

ok ive watched approximately half of stampede now and i am gonna say my thoughts so far. Firstly. BUGS!!! BUGS BUGS BUGS BUGS WORMS !! ZAZIE!!!!! YES!!!!!! they fixed so many of the things that bugged me about the sandworm and general creature design (we dont talk about the tomas) literally perfect the life cycle is so cool ZAZIE!!!!!!

Also the animation is good i guess.

i feel about how i expected to which is that i like it on its own terms but i find it really annoying as an adaptation. for something supposed to be more faithful to the manga it REALLY isn’t and the pacing is awful, it just frontloads all the lore on you and has none of the breathing room that the manga gives for characters to have meaningful emotions, and none of the long intro of 98 that gets you used to the people and world and introduces the important story beats over a longer period of time.

also it MASSACRED MY BOY(s). here is my rating of design changes so far:

Meryl: i don’t particularly dislike her design on its own but i think it’s a moderate downgrade. i don’t know why they made her look so young in such a specific kind of doll looking way!! why does she have makeup stop that!! 4/10

Vash: again i dont hate his design on its own but COME ON MAN!! i keep saying they twinkified him, i will be clear, vash was already a twink, but now he’s evne more of one. he is also just way less charming and goofy looking. legs not long enough. no belts. no assless chaps. 2/10

Wolfwood: UGH. boring design on its own, terrible redesign. no tits so why’s his shirt open. why is he white. where’d his nose go. i hate his pants and shoes why are his ankles so defenseless. fucking twinkified him i HATE him no wonder every fanartist just subs in regular wolfwood. 0/10

Livio: WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH ok but again inoffensive design on his own, nothing special but i dont like, hate it. however. just kind of looks like an entirely different guy. hopefully they will bulk him up later but he still just. Looks off you know? dont like him. 1/10.
