Biphobia is a huge fucking problem.

Gay people can bd biphobic. I've met a lot who are.

Straight people can be biphobic. I've met even MORE of those.

Hell, I've met fucking pansexuals who are biphobic, and that baffles me A LOT.

Even though NO ONE in the LGBTQ+ community should be biphobic because we fucking KNOW what it feels like to be discriminated against, pansexuals? I've met people who told me that being bisexual is being transphobic. Do you have ANY IDEA how many trans people I know that are bi? How many nb people I know that are bi?

YOU AREN'T TRANSPHOBIC BECAUSE OF YOUR SEXUALITY.

YOU /ARE/ TRANSPHOBIC /REGARDLESS/ OF YOUR SEXUALITY.

Stop spreading hate to the bi community. Someone isn't a bad person because they're bi. If someone is bi and a bad person, don't blame it on their sexuality, you squeaky cart wheel.

About Bisexuality and Biphobia

“Sometimes love doesn’t conform to what you were taught.”

 They tell me I am confused. They tell me it is just a phase. They tell me I should see someone. They tell me I am just artistic or open-minded. They tell me that I ‘need’ to decide. But why? Why is it so strenuous to accept that there are people in this world capable of loving both females and males?

 Perhaps you simply don’t understand it. Maybe it is too taxing for some of you. You may think it is somehow ‘defying nature.’ But it is only defying YOUR nature. There is not some sort of life-rule stating that human beings are only capable of loving one sex at a time. There is not an organ in my body or a chemical in my brain that hinders me from loving two genders. And if you don’t get it, it’s okay; I know it can be confusing to understand this…but you are the one who is confused, not me.

 “Don’t hate what you don’t understand.”

 I know based on society’s standards of what a man ‘should’ be, it is atypical for a man to be attracted to both men and women. I know it is even odd for a woman to do so because for some undisclosed reason we ‘need’ to decide, right? No. We don’t just get to decide. I did not just wake up one day and ‘decided’ to be bisexual. My body has always been stimulated by both sexes and that it something I did not get to choose. But even if I did not have a say in this, I do think it is more than an honor to love a man as much as to love a woman.

 I think there is too much biphobia going on today. I see many hypocrites wearing rainbow flags during pride month then bashing on those with ‘weird’ sexual identities or sexual orientations. There are too many people claiming that love is love… as long as you JUST love ONE sex.

Truth is, I see the beauty in both men and women. Nobody is going to take that away from me. If anything, they should be praising it; I have a heart capable of loving to a greater extent. There are other sexual orientations other than straight or gay and they are capable of loving to a greater extent and this idea should not be bullied or disregarded… if anything it should be praised.

 There is not an absolute truth about love; what we were taught is just a culture. These implemented ideologies do not resemble the truth or nature about love. Hearing all these comments is starting to become stale. Worst of all, it starting to become wounding. Trusting someone enough to tell them I am bisexual and have them stare into my eyes and tell me that bisexuality does not exist. So what are you saying? That a part of me does not exist? That I have a hole inside of me? That a fragment of my existence is after all inexistent? That the sexual orientation I did not even get to choose is a sham?

 “ Live and let live.”

I am writing about this because I feel limited. Sometimes I am intimidated of telling my friends certain things because I assume they will judge me or label me. They are going to call me either straight or lesbian but I am not straight nor am I lesbian. Why do I have to conform to this culture? Who said that is how love and sex works? It is sad to admit this but… some days I think I felt more liberated when I was inside of the closet than when I was out. People have tried to put me in these boxes and it is exhausting. I just want to be myself. I don’t want to feel like this anymore.

 I tried to ignore it at first but it caught up to me. I’ve had found myself wondering if they are right. What if they are right and I can’t love more than one gender? But I know I can, because I have and I do. But when they repeat certain ideas of who you should be over and over you become self-conscious at times and this is okay. I know myself more than anyone else, and I know that I am bisexual; I have never been so sure of something in my life.

 We need to stop biphobia and the phobia of other sexualities. Now that we are striving to normalize same-sex relationships, we need to normalize the fact that some people can be with more than just one sex. This is why I am writing about this. Because there are people like me out there who just want to be themselves without the fear of the people they love telling them that who they are is not who they are.

 There is no one that knows you better than you. And you have the right as a human being to love whoever and how many you want. I know that being constrained is part of the process of finding freedom within ourselves and I will always fight for what is my right. Just remember that who you love does not matter. What matters is that you love and that is something that will always be way more beautiful than those who don’t have the strength of mind to accept it.

 Love is love. Love freely and passionately.

 Live and let others live. Live freely and passionately.
