Overall, in the live-action "One Piece", I liked the way that they did Mihawk visiting the Baratie. I still prefer the manga/anime (Zoro SEES Mihawk fuck up an armada and this wonderful idiot is like, "Yeah, I'm gonna fight him next,"), but I understand why they shifted the Don Kriegs around in order to fit the arc they had created for their limited number of episodes for the East Blue Arc, and I think it was probably the right choice even if it changing the Don Kriegs does give us less of the Baratie crew. All of the arcs were filed down and I can just go back to the manga to see all the East Blue minor characters properly.

I like the fact that OPLA has such a different feel. I think it's fun when adaptations embrace the fact that they're inherently different. I really liked Nami and Zoro's little drinking and questions game. And I thought Usopp getting super drunk at the bar and Mihawk being RIGHT THERE listening to him talk was SO FUNNY. Like, yeah, that gives off the vibe that this warlord does just casually visit bars as he travels, in between fighting armies for funsies, and now I get to also imagine Mihawk casually shopping at specialty goth clothing stores and buying bottles of wine to go as he travels. (And now I have to wonder what would have happened if Zoro had run into Mihawk somewhere like Funky Bar (the bar he mentions to Kuro, which yeah, they did kind of make it sound like a gay bar).)

I like Usopp/Kaya, but now I also like to imagine for a second that Usopp could have accidentally (or on purpose! If you're not going for Usopp/Kaya) HIT ON Mihawk at the Baratie. Maybe he was just trying to compliment the guy's fit or remark on his beautiful eyes or something, because Mihawk definitely has an aesthetic going on, and these words came out a little too flirty? Maybe it was a random bout of drunken courage sure to collapse quickly?

And, in this silly OPLA AU, I like to imagine Mihawk leaning into this at least for intelligence-gathering, like, "Let me buy you a drink. Tell me more." (Side note: Mihawk doesn't really seem like a bar hookup guy to me, like, in general, but counterpoint: SHANKS sure does!)

So, Nami, across the bar, can be like, "Whoa, Usopp's actually pulling some guy." (Mentally, she is evaluating Mihawk as, like, a sugar daddy robbery target. It's like second nature to her at this point. Are they going to have to interfere? Usopp is REALLY drunk. Can she swipe Mihawk's wallet if they interfere?) And Zoro turns around to look and he pauses for a really long time before saying, "...That's Dracule Mihawk, the World's Greatest Swordsman."

So, things proceed pretty much the same way from there, Zoro challenges a warlord and nearly dies, but now Nami and Zoro can hold "flirting with a warlord at a bar" over Usopp's head as an embarrassing story FOREVER. (I think if Usopp tried to own this misunderstanding to lessen the embarrassment, his lying would take over, and this would somehow lead to widespread rumors that someone on the Strawhats is secretly MARRIED to Mihawk or something, because Usopp's luck is terrible. The Navy has to reach out to Mihawk like, "ARE YOU IN LEAGUE WITH THE STRAWHATS THROUGH MARRIAGE?! CONFIRM OR DENY." And Mihawk thinks it's so fucking stupid that he refuses to answer at all.)

After the timeskip, the first thing that Zoro ends up saying to Usopp after 2 years is something like: "Mihawk says hey."

Usopp: (⁠･⁠o⁠･⁠;⁠)

Did Mihawk really say hey? Does he remember Usopp at all? Is Zoro just fucking with Usopp? Usopp will never know. (Maybe Mihawk said something like, "My regards to your crew," but Zoro is totally just fucking with Usopp.)

i know luffy is aroace coded (and in my heart he is, celibacy win!) but also i think we are underestimating the potential comedy of luffy having sex because that idiot is irreverent of every single thing and you just know he wouldn't find sex to be like. special. its just something people do for fun!

his ass is on the snail phone within the hour like traffy did you know about sex??? lets have some! and then the strawhats have to tackle him away from the phone before they have like 4 separate naval armadas at their doorstep vying for the opportunity

Franky was truly the greatest shipwright of his time. You had never been on a ship that sailed so fast and efficiently as the Thousand Sunny. It bounced across the water with ease, quickly catching up to the sailing Marine armada. 

By the time you and the Strawhats reached the main dock to stop the shipment, it was too late. It had already set sail. But thankfully that was no issue for the Sunny. 

The Strawhats ran across the deck as they prepared for battle. From what the Marine admitted, your sister wasn't the only person being shipped tonight. Various prisoners were being moved from the local prison to Impel Down. So instead of a small Marine battalion, you and the Strawhats expected a sizable armada. 

As you put on your mask, Sanji slid to your side. "You ready?" he asked. You grabbed his hand and squeezed it. You looked in his eyes and nodded. Always. 

"I think I see them," yelled Brook from up above. You looked towards where his finger pointed. From the distance, you could see the faint outline of ships... many ships. 

"Fuck, that's a lot," whined Usopp. He tried to run inside, but Zoro grabbed him from the straps of his overalls. All of the Strawhats looked ahead. Despite the large size of their opponent, the pirates stood tall. They were determined to save your sister. 

"Franky! Full steam ahead," announced Nami. It's now or never.

Despite being in various battles since he joined the crew, Sanji's heart was racing. For some reason, he was nervous. What if something happens to her? He looked at you and noted how eerily quiet you were. He didn't doubt your strength, but he knows what love can make someone do. But he held his doubt within, because right now, you just needed support.

And to his dismay, you left his side and joined Luffy on top of the Sunny's figurehead. You spoke to Luffy, out of Sanji's earshot. He felt somewhat stiffed. How come you're talking to Luffy, but not me? We almost... He burrowed his jealousy as Luffy shot you a smile. It couldn't be anything serious if Luffy was smiling. Right?

“Monkey D. Luffy and Strawhat pirates, by order of the World Government, we have orders to arrest you on sight,” announced one of the Marine ships. The Sunny stopped as soon as the Marines caught sight of the ship. However, before the Marines could prepare for battle, your voice boomed out in the air.

“It’s me, the Siren,” you dropped the bottom half of your mask and maxed out your voice for everyone to hear, “I seized the Strawhat’s pirates ship and have arrested them by orders of the Marines.” You waved behind you, showing off the 9 Strawhat pirates. Each one sat on the deck with their hands tied behind them. “And don’t worry, I put sea stone handcuffs on the Devil Fruit users,” you added. 

The Marines kept quiet. What are they waiting for? It was daunting to stand before 30 Marine ships. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, but today, you were no longer an ally to them, but an enemy. But hey, they started it first.

“Bring the ship forward,” responded the speaker. Finally. The Marine formation opened up, allowing you to bring the ship to the middle of it, right in front of the head ship. Just like we planned. 

You were confident that your sister was being held in the main ship along with the other prisoners. Now under the false pretenses you built, you and the Strawhats were going to be loaded on to the main ship, giving you all a chance to break out your sister. 

Slowly, a group of Marines boarded the Thousand Sunny to grab the handcuffed prisoners. A Marine stood behind each Strawhat who were all capable of breaking out of their restraints. Everything was going to plan. They’ll take the prisoners and allow you to board like always. 

You moved behind the Marines, stopping until you reached Jimbei. “Hey, if you want, I’ll take the big guy. He bites,” you said, patting the Marine that was trembling in front of the fishman. Jimbei grumbled, but said nothing as you hoisted him up to his feet. Every Strawhat was hoisted up and pushed towards the main ship. They all remained silent despite the Marine’s taunts. 

As the Marines, the Strawhats, and you marched within the ship to the holding cells, excitement filled the air. The Marines were starting to celebrating. The infamous Strawhat pirates are finally in custody all thanks to their loyal lap dog pirate hunter, the Siren.

“Congratulations on the big catch!” 

“I knew you were strong, but you really outdid yourself!” 

“Big payoff, right?” 

Congratulatory remarks filled the air as the Marines thanked you for your service. You kept your head down. Your face may be covered but, you knew that if you saw any of their vile smiles, you’d probably snap. 

How dare they? Celebrate me as if this isn’t what they wanted all along. As if I had any real choice here…

Eventually, you all made to the bottom level where the prisoners are held. Various cells started to holler and hoot at the Strawhats, some out of shock while others celebrated their imprisonment. You scanned the area to see if there were any signs of your sister. Dammit. I don’t think she’s down here.

“Alright then, I’ll you leave you to it,” you announced. You tapped in one of the Marines to take Jimbei. “This pirate hunter has a bounty to pick up,” you quipped. You left them and made your way up the ship. They’ll be too busy locking them up that they won’t notice me snooping around, you reasoned. In their point of view, everything was normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Before you could really distance yourself from them, a familiar voice rang through the speakers. 

“Grab the Siren!” Suddenly, a group of Marines appeared behind you and swarmed you. You immediately popped the bottom half of your mask and screamed, pushing them back. You pulled out your swords and stood your ground. More Marines appeared from your other side, completely surrounding you. 

“What’s the meaning of this?” you growled. 

Laughing filled the space. Why does it sound so familiar? 

“Siren,” the voice sneered, “did you really think you could trick a Vice Admiral?” Vice Admiral? No way!

“Doberman?” But that’s impossible, I sank his ship.

“VICE ADMIRAL DOBERMAN… ah! It doesn’t matter, I’m coming down there… wait!” it announced over the PA system. The Marines surrounding you took a step forward but you stood your ground. You weren’t going to go down without a fight. 

A door opened revealing a familiar red coat. You couldn’t believe it. It really was him. 

“Surprised, Siren?” he sneered. He joined the Marines that were surrounding you. Standing in front of you, he continued, “I know what you are Siren… a traitor. And imagine after everything we’ve done for you.”

“DONE FOR ME?” You couldn’t contain your anger any longer. “You fucking lied to me. You, the Marines, everyone. You made me think the Marines were helping my sister get better when you were only keeping her sick.”

“Oh, don’t play the victim. What if we did? We gave you a purpose in life. Made you strong, a real weapon of justice?”

“JUSTICE? For who? Tell me, it is just to rip a family apart just because the Marine can’t do their job and have to force someone else to do it?” 

“It is when that family wasn’t even a real family in the first place,” he spat back. How dare he? You lunged forward to attack. However, you were so caught up in your anger, that you failed to see that Doberman ordered his men to shoot at you with a device you didn’t recognize. 

A pair of sea stone handcuffs flew out of it and wrapped around your wrists. You fell to the ground, too weak to move. NO! 

Doberman walked over you and sneered, “awe, poor Siren, so close, but so far.” He grabbed you from the back of your head and pulled off your mask. “One floor up and you would have found your beloved sister, but oh well!” He cackled. He looked down at you and expected to see devastation all over your face, but instead, found you grinning. 

“Do you really think I’m that stupid?” Before he could react, the door leading to the prisoner cells blew open. Smoke and screams escaped from it. 

“What’s going on?” Doberman moved back, pushing his fellow Marines towards the door. A long hand appeared, pulling a few Marines into the chaos. The screaming continued for a few more seconds before it went dead. 

Everyone waited with bated breath. Then, in an instance, Sanji, Luffy, and Robin appeared in the doorway. 

“Mil Fleur!” Arms sprung out of the Marines and Doberman, swiftly knocking them out. Sanji ran towards you and noticed the sea stone cuffs. He checked Doberman’s body and found the keys. 

Unlocking them, Sanji picked you up and pulled you into a hug. “Are you okay?” 

“I’m okay,” you answered. You savored the moment for a bit before pulling away. “It seems like my sister is a level above. Sanji and I will grab her while you guys handle the rest.”

Robin and Luffy nodded. You grabbed Sanji’s hand and ran off.

“You would think they would put up a better fight,” laughed Zoro as he took out a group of Marines with a slash.

“Speak for yourself,” answered Usopp as he fought off two. After you and Sanji went to grab your sister, the rest of the Strawhats moved to the top deck and began to attack the rest of the armada. Thanks to your insider knowledge, the Strawhats were able to pinpoint their weak points and capitalize it to their advantage. Jimbei was able to attack from below while Zoro, Luffy, and Brook took care of the Marines from above. Franky and Usopp took control of the Marine ship and used its weapons against their own while Chopper, Robin, and Nami protected the Sunny from the Marines counterattacks. 

Now with most of the Marines taken care off, the Strawhats were back on the Sunny, waiting for you and Sanji to appear with your sister. 

“What’s taking them so long?” asked Nami. They were starting to grow concerned. According to Robin and Luffy, your sister was just one floor up. It shouldn’t be taking you this long unless…

Chopper piped up. “I should go back and check. What if they need a doctor?” 

“Calm down. Sanji would have come up and grabbed you already is there was,” reasoned Zoro. Despite his words, he wasn’t too sure. 

But thankfully, him and the rest of the crew could stop worrying as you and Sanji suddenly appeared with your sister in your arms. You both jumped from the Marine ship and landed on the Sunny’s deck. You immediately laid your sleeping sister down. 

“Chopper!” yelled Sanji. Chopper sprinted over and started to inspect your sister. You remained silent. Nami ordered everyone to prepare the sails. 

After a few minutes as Chopper checked and the sails were prepared, Chopper finally spoke up. “She’s okay. She sounds healthy. I think they gave her a sedative so that explains why she’s been able to sleep through all of this.” You let out a deep breath. You pulled Chopper in a hug and thanked him. 

Sanji got down on his knees next to you and rubbed your back. “You did it. You saved her.” You turned towards him and pulled him in for a hug. He reciprocated it and held you close. You silently cried in his chest. You did it. The Sunny started to move, signaling the end of a chapter. Or at least, it felt like it. 

“SIREN!” yelled a voice. You pulled your head away from Sanji’s head and looked at the Marine ship. You couldn’t believe it.

“YOU REALLY THOUGHT YOU COULD GET RID OF ME LIKE THAT!” yelled Vice Admiral Doberman. He stood on the deck with a speaker snail in his hand. 

You got up, despite Sanji’s protest. You knew as long as Doberman was alive this would never be over. You walked away from your sister and Sanji and stood on the Sunny’s railing. You turned around to face the crew and smiled before leaping off.

“WAIT!” Sanji cried. He chased after you but was held down by his Captain’s long arms. He turned around to see Luffy giving him a serious look. His eyes were telling him to wait.

You don’t think you ever yelled so much in your life. It felt so freeing, knowing that this would be the last time you would ever board a Marine ship willing. The last time you would ever have to follow their orders. The last time you would ever have to be the Siren. 

You sky walked and screeched across the sky. Doberman ran across the deck, trying to avoid your screams. But it was no use. His ship was falling apart. 

“STOP OR ELSE,” he threatened. Your really couldn’t believe him. Did he think he still had some power over you? You aimed one scream directly at him and pushed him off his deck. Good riddance. 

You let out one final scream and cracked the ship in half. Water gushed in it causing it to sink. Still in the air, you turned around to see the Sunny. And to your surprise, your sister was awake.

Sanji never knew destruction could look so divine. He was so engrossed looking at you that he didn’t notice your sister wake up. 

“Huh, where am I?” she asked. She looked around and was shocked to see a blue sky instead of a grey ceiling. She looked around and realized that she was sitting on the Thousand Sunny, the infamous ship of the Strawhat pirates. 

Chopper called Sanji. As soon as he made eye contact with your sister, he froze. Thankfully, Robin also noticed and ran towards your sister. 

“Little one,” she yelled as she reached your sister. She pulled your sister in a hug and explained everything. How she was captured by the Marines, how they came together to save her from being shipped off to who knows where, how Sanji and you got get out of that ship, and how they’re all going to take you home. 

She turned and looked at Sanji. Her eyes void of any emotion. Sanji opened his mouth to speak, but she beat her to it.

“Thank you… for helping my sister,” she whispered. Sanji just nodded. Baby steps. 

“Look, she’s on her way back,” pointed out Robin. Everyone turned to see you sky-walking back to the Sunny.

So close…

but yet so far.

A harpoon shot out of the water and dug into your side. Sanji felt his heart stop. Your sister screamed. 

You flew back into the water.

Author's Notes: Penultimate chapter!! Sorry for the delay! I really wanted to take my time with this. Can't believe I'm so close to finishing!

Kalau hampir sebulan lalu jiwa ini tertinggal di Marineford, kali ini, terperangkap oleh hingar-bingar yang membalut dalamnya gelap gulita di Dressrosa.

Sepertinya saya bisa menobatkan bahwa Dressrosa ini masuk ke dalam top 3 arc favorit saya, bersamaan dengan Enies Lobby dengan Summit War (Marine Ford). Masih bingung dengan urutannya, karena masing-masing memiliki kelebihan tersendiri.

Enies Lobby menunjukkan solidaritas dari Strawhat Crew yang bahkan tak ragu melawan pemerintah dunia (yang ditandai oleh tembakan api ke bendera World Govt oleh Sogeking) 'hanya' untuk menyelamatkan seorang nakama (re: teman) yang bahkan baru mereka kenal sebentar (dan bahkan sebelumnya menjadi musuh terbesar nomor 2 di Alabasta). Ditambah dengan keterlibatan keluarga Franky, Galley-Ra, nenek Kokoro (+Chimney dan Gonbe), dan raksasa Elbaf yang berpihak pada kru Mugiwara. Semua bertarung dengan sengit dan dramatis, ada tukar-menukar musuh (contohnya Sanji yang tidak bisa melawan wanita, Nami yang kabur dari si 'Yoyoi'), tidak lupa dengan dahsyatnya Buster Call. Jangan lupa dengan monster point Chopper yang pertama kali dimunculkan. Membuat merinding, mencekam, tapi keren!

Ada pun Summit War, mungkin sudah banyak dijelaskan di postingan sebelum ini. Memang cukup hampa karena Luffy tidak ditemani oleh nakama-nya. Akan tetapi, aliansi non-permanen antara Luffy dan para eks-tahanan Impel Down tentu tidak akan disangka oleh semua pihak, terlebih mereka datang tiba-tiba dari langit. Banyak juga kekuatan yang baru ditampilkan, mulai dari Laksamana Armada Sengoku, tiga serangkai Laksamana Aokiji-Kizaru-Akainu, para wakil laksamana, Shirohige, para ketua divisi Bajak Laut Shirohige, serta kru bajak dan angkatan laut laut lainnya.

Pada Dressrosa, kru Mugiwara memang hanya setengah yang terlibat penuh: Luffy, Zoro, Robin, Usopp, dan Franky. Tidak mengganggu jalan cerita, walaupun rasanya agak sepi ya tanpa kepolosan Chopper, tertawa dan jokes receh Brook, kekuatan pengendalian cuaca Nami, dan aksi tendangan Sanji (walaupun sempat melawan Doffy).

Kita mulai dari alur. Yang awalnya Dressrosa tampak menyenangkan dan penuh gairah, walaupun aneh karena adanya mainan hidup yang hidup berdampingan dengan manusia. Juga 'peri' pencuri yang sudah dinormalisasi oleh warga setempat. Perlahan tapi pasti, kebobrokan negeri mulai dikupas satu-persatu bak benang-benang yang mulai bersimpul. Semua simpul-simpul itu akhirnya bertemu di satu titik yang menyadarkan kita bahwa: tidak ada yang beres di Dressrosa. Dan itu pula yang menciptakan momentum bahwa "Setelah 10 tahun lamanya, semua itu harus dihentikan hari ini juga."

Kegilaan 10 tahun lalu itu yang paling membuat hati teriris. Tentang bagaimana fitnah menerpa Raja Riku dan prajuritnya. Yang mengakibatkan semua citra baik yang dibangun bertahun-tahun hancur dalam sekejap malam. Rebecca yang tinggal bersama ibunya, kemudian tiba-tiba ibunya dibawa oleh seorang prajurit mainan berkaki satu dalam keadaan tak bernyawa. Kemudian prajurit itu selalu ada di samping Rebecca. Prajurit itu bernama Kyros. Dan dia adalah tokoh favorit saya di sepanjang arc ini. Lagu "Heitai-san wa yukande..." itu terngiang terus di telinga saya.

Berkat kebaikan Raja Riku, Kyros muda yang tadinya merupakan seorang 'pembunuh', kemudian diberikan wadah untuk menyalurkan bakatnya: menjadi gladiator Colosseum. Tidak tanggung, sudah 3000 kemenangan yang didapat. Kyros yang semula dihina dan tidak diterima masyarakat, lama-kelamaan justru mendapat sanjungan dan dipuja-puja kehadirannya. Tapi ia masih saja merasa bahwa dirinya kotor karena masa lalunya. Lalu Raja Riku kembali melihat potensinya dan menjadikannya kepala prajurit kerjaan.

Nah, ini bagian favorit saya: kisah cinta Kyros dan Scarlett. Betapa Scarlett awalnya membenci Kyros, lalu berbalik karena ia diselamatkan saat diculik bajak laut. Adegan Kyros yang merasa canggung-bersalah karena tidak sengaja memegang tubuh Scarlett yang lunglai, sukses membuat hati saya membuncah kegirangan layaknya menonton adegan romantis di drama Korea. Di hari-hari berikutnya, Scarlett tampak memasak sembari diintip Raja Riku dan Viola. Yang awalnya malu-malu, lama-lama mau ya, hehe. Kyros pun melapor ke Raja Riku untuk mengundurkan diri dari pekerjaannya sebagai pengawal putri raja. Raja pun menyadari bahwa tampaknya Kyros dan putrinya sudah saling jatuh cinta. Restu memang diberikan, tetapi dikhawatirkan akan menimbulkan skandal jika putri raja menikahi seseorang dengan catatan kriminal. Akhirnya, Scarlett justru dibikin seolah-olah meninggal, padahal keluar dari anggota kerajaan (wkwkwk ini lucu sih). Mereka pun hidup sederhana di pinggir negeri, punya anak, dan sesekali dijenguk oleh keluarga raja. Sampai akhirnya....."manusia burung" datang dan merusak segalanya. Scarlett mati ditembak oleh Diamante, di depan mata Kyros yang sudah berubah menjadi prajurit mainan berkaki satu. Di tengah hujan, Kyros memegang tubuh Scarlett yang sekarat. "Mengapa kau tidak menungguku?" tanya Kyros. "Maaf, aku tidak mengenalmu. Tapi putriku saat ini sedang kelaparan," ujar Scarlett yang seolah ingatan tentang Kyros sudah hilang di momen ia diubah menjadi mainan. Scarlett menghembuskan napas terakhir dan Kyros menangis pilu (ini bagian yang paling menyayat hati). Bagian terburuknya ialah, dengan tubuh timahnya, Kyros bahkan tidak mampu merasakan kehangatan tubuh Scarlett yang perlahan menghilang seiring dengan terhentinya aliran darah dalam tubuhnya.

Tuh kan, jadi cerita panjang kalau soal Kyros, hehehe.

Hal yang paling keren lainnya dari Dressrosa ialah kedatangan para petarung dari negara-negara lain ke Corida Colosseum. Yang awalnya hanya sekadar bertanding dan membuat saya berpikir "Mereka bakal punya peran penting kah dalam arc ini?", kemudian kalah dan menjadi budak mainan, sampai akhirnya ikut berjuang bersama Luffy, turut menumbangkan anggota eksekutif keluarga Don Quixote, sampai ikut menahan sangkar burung agar tidak semakin menyempit. Mereka yang semula menjadi musuh dan saling melawan di atas panggung pertunjukan, berakhir dengan menjadi aliansi melalui sumpah cawan arak (tentu saja Luffy menolak untuk menjadi ketua dari aliansi tersebut).

Prajurit kecil Tontatta pun memiliki peran sangat besar dan luar biasa. Apalagi saat operasi SOP yang ternyata selangkah lagi menuju kegagalan. Untung saja anggur yang hendak diberikan ke Sugar berisi saus superpedas (dan bukan racun), sehingga ketika dimasukkan ke dalam mulut Usopp, yang ada justru kepedasan yang teramat-sangat hingga mengejutkan Sugar dan memberinya trauma seumur hidup. Dan itulah, asal-muasal God Ussop yang legendaris. Awalnya saya kira bakal ada pertempuran dramatis antara Usopp dengan sugar menggunakan pop green-nya. Ternyata, sesimpel itu, hehe. Bagian ketika Usopp menembak Sugar dari jarak jauh juga keren sih, ditambah bantuan penglihatan Viola. Saya kira juga pelurunya berisi pop green. Ternyata bentuk muka kepedasan Usopp yang digambar oleh Kanjuro, hahaha.

Ngomong-ngomong soal Kanjuro, ini orang bisa-bisanya cuma santai-santai bersembunyi di balik tembok. Makanan juga tidak pernah kurang karena dia tinggal gambar di dinding. Sedangkan Kin'emon berjuang habis-habisan di Punk Hazard dan Dressrosa. Momonosuke juga sudah sempat diculik dan berubah jadi naga pink. Mana bedaknya dempul, gambarnya jelek. Untung saja Burung Pipit Musim Semi masih bisa diandalkan (walaupun terbang dengan penuh susah payah).

Yang tak kalah penting ialah kisah dari keluarga Don Quixote itu sendiri. Doflamingo yang begitu licik, kejam, dan gila, ternyata memang menyimpan masa kecil yang sangat tragis. Terlahir sebagai kaum Naga Langit yang terbiasa dengan segenap kemewahan dan budak-budak yang dapat diperlakukan sesukanya, pada akhirnya menjadi manusia biasa yang hidup sederhana. Bukannya hidup tenang, justru menjadi bulan-bulanan masyarakat yang telanjur menyimpan dendam pada kaum Naga Langit. Beragam siksaan dan hinaan diterima, sampai akhirnya sang ibu wafat karena sakit. Setelah itu, Doffy, ayahnya (Homing) dan adiknya (Rosinante/Corazon II) digantung di jendela rumah dengan mata ditutup. Dalam kondisi semengerikan itu, warga sudah membakar api yang siap melahap mereka hidup-hidup. Masih ditambah pula dengan tembakan anak panah. Wajar, jika akhirnya Doffy menyimpan kebencian dan dendam yang sangat mendalam (walaupun tidak dibenarkan ya). Sampai-sampai ia tega menembak ayahnya sendiri yang dianggap menjadi penyebab semua ini. Kemudian dipertemukan dengan Trebol, Diamante, dan Vergo yang semakin menumbuhkan dan menyuburkan monster yang ada dalam diri Doffy.

Berbeda dengan Rosinante yang dipertemukan dengan Sengoku. Mungkin setelahnya ia jadi dianggap seperti anak sendiri oleh Sengoku, sehingga pengkhianatan dan kematiannya sangat membekas. Terlebih lagi Sengoku menyatakan bahwa di malam itu, ia kehilangan empat hal: bajaak laut Barrels, anak buahnya, buah Ope Ope No Mi, dan seorang anak dengan penyakit timah putih. Rosinante pun mati dengan tragis dan ironis, setelah sekian lama menyusup di keluarga Don Quixote dengan pura-pura bisu dan ke sana kemari mencari obat bagi Law.

Backstory berikutnya ialah Senor Pink. Semua orang pasti merasa geli ya melihat gaya berpakaiannya. Laki-laki dewasa mana yang berpakaian seperti bayi, lengkap dengan empeng di mulutnya. Tetapi, laki-laki seperti itu justru dielu-elukan wanita cantik yang menganggapnya jantan. 'Kejantanan' itu dibuktikan dengan pertarungannya dengan Franky. Alih-alih saling menyerang dan bertahan, mereka justru melakukan penyerangan secara bergantian tanpa menahan serangan musuh. Hingga akhirnya kemenangan jatuh di tangan robot cyborg mesum berbikini yang SUUPEEERR. Di akhir pertarungannya, tersebutlah nama Lucian/Russian. Ternyata, Senor Pink dulunya sangat gagah dengan balutan js yang tampak mewah bak mafia. Sampai akhirnya ia jatuh cinta, menikah, dan punya anak. Kesibukannya menjadi bajak laut membuatnya meninggalkan keluarga kecilnya selama seminggu, hingga tanpa sepengetahuannya putra kecilnya meninggal karena sakit. Merasa sudah dibohongi tentang pekerjaannya (Lucian sangat benci bajak laut), Lucian pergi dan tertimpa musibah tanah longsor. Ia pun mengalami kerusakan otak sehingga hidup dalam kondisi vegetatif: hidup sekadar hidup, tanpa bisa berkomunikasi maupun merasakan emosi. Senor Pink yang sangat mencintai istrinya itu setiap hari datang dan membawakan bunga demi melihat senyuman Lucian. Ternyata, senyuman itu baru bisa terbentuk saat melihat Senor Pink mengenakan pakaian bayi, yang mungkin mengingatkannya pada Gimlet (putranya yang mati). Sejak saat itulah Senor Pink tidak pernah melepaskan pakaian bayinya walaupun penuh cemoohan dari masyarakat dan dari keluarga Don Quixote itu sendiri. Bahkan setelah memenangkan pertarungan, Franky berharap bisa minum bersama Senor Pink suatu hari nanti sembari mendengarkannya bercerita tentang wanita bernama Lucian. He's a villain you can't hate.

Sekarang giliran Baby 5, wanita yang butuh "merasa dibutuhkan". Sudah delapan pria yang melamarnya, semuanya ia terima, dan semuanya dibunuh oleh Doflamingo. Baby 5 tidak bisa mengatakan tidak pada seseorang yang membutuhkannya. Semua diawali oleh abandonement yang dilakukan oleh ibu kandungnya sendiri saat ia kecil. Mungkin karena anak yang banyak dan miskin, sang ibu tega meninggalkan Baby 5 sendirian. Ibunya juga menyatakan bahwa ia tidak membutuhkannya dan tidak ada orang di dunia ini yang membutuhkannya. Bahkan saat pertarungannya melawan Sai dari Kerajaan Kano, Baby 5 menyalahtafsirkan perkataan Sai sebagai suatu flirting, seperti "Aku akan mengarahkan ke jantungmu" dan "Aku tidak akan melepaskan tanganmu." Baby 5 kemudian memastikan apakah Sai benar-benar menginginkannya dan membutuhkannya. Ia rela melakukan apapun jika itu membantu. Dengan berkelakar, Sai menyuruhnya bunuh diri agar bisa membantu Luffy dalam menjalankan misi mengalahkan Doflamingo. Tanpa ragu, Baby 5 mengarahkan pistol ke kepalanya dengan senyuman yang sangat bahagia karena bisa menolong orang yang membutuhkan. Sai pun mencegah hal itu terjadi, bahkan mengatakan bahwa akan menikahi Baby 5 jika ia bisa mengalahkan Lao G. Dan benar saja, Lao G dikalahkan. Baby 5 dengan senang hati memanggil Sai "sayang" dan sangat bersemangat untuk menikah dengannya. Saat angkatan laut meringkus para eksekutif Don Quixote, Sai mengatakan "Kau tetap di sini bersamaku." Ah, sudahlah. Kisah cinta favorit kedua saya di Dressrosa ini, terlalu lucu dan menggemaskan. Bisa-bisanya yang tadinya berniat memenangkan Mera Mera No Mi di Corida Colosseum justru kalah, lalu menjadi budak mainan, lalu ikut berperang, eh malah pulang-pulang dapat istri.

Cerita lain yang ditunggu ialah kehadiran Sabo secara tiba-tiba di hadapan Luffy (saat itu menjadi Lucy) yang menggantikannya di final. Dua belas tahun di bawah pelatihan Dragon dan pasukan revolusioner (setelah sebelumnya berlatih bersama Ace dan Luffy) menjadikan Sabo sangat terampil dalam bertarung menggunakan Haki. Mera Mera No Mi dimenangkan dan bahkan langsung dimakan di tempat (walaupun rasanya menjijikan). Serangan pamungkas 'hiken' pun dilancarkan untuk menutup pertandingan. Jesus Burgess dilawan, Laksamana Fujitora dilawan. Semua demi melindungi Luffy. Sabo hanya tidak ingin mengulang kesalahan yang sama: tidak mampu melindungi saudaranya sendiri.

Last but not least, Laksamana Fujitora. Maaf, Om Akainu. Kali ini saya berpaling dengan Paman Fujitora. Beliau ini laksamana paling humanis di antara yang pernah saya kenal sebelumnya. Datang ke Dressrosa diawali dengan berjudi, kemudian mulai menunjukkan kekuatan luar biasanya mengendalikan gravitasi. Fujitora ingin menghilangkan sistem Shichibukai yang dianggap gagal dalam menciptakan kedamaian dan keadilan, karena yang sudah-sudah justru memperlakukan masyarakat dengan semena-mena (contohnya Crocodile). Awalnya saya sempat kesal karena Fujitora tampak melindungi Doffy (ya, memang Shichibukai dilindungi sih karena dianggap aliansi pemerintah). Sampai akhirnya ia membuat keputusan untuk tidak lagi membela Doffy. Saat peperangan memuncak, ia merasa bahwa saat ini angkatan laut dan pemerintah tidak bisa berbuat banyak; bahkan ia menyerahkan nasib Dressrosa kepada bajak laut. Ia malah ikut duduk-duduk di tanah tinggi kerajaan bersama Raja Riku, Viola, Usopp, Tank, dan lain-lain sambil menunggu hasil pertandingan. Yang membuat salut setelahnya yaitu ia ambil bagian dalam menahan pergeseran 'sangkar burung' dengan pedangnya yang ber-Haki. Saat perang berakhir, angkatan laut menyiarkan kisah Dressrosa termasuk Fujitora yang bersujud meminta maaf kepada Raja Riku dan warga Dressrosa mewakili ketidakmampuan pemerintah dalam melindungi masyarakat. Tentu saja itu memicu api (magma, lebih tepatnya) amarah Om Akainu yang kejam itu.

Di akhir cerita, datanglah Inspektorat Jendral Sengoku (yang memakai pakaian liburan dan kerjanya makan kue beras terus) dan Tsuru. Mereka bingung, mengapa Fujitora tidak menangkap Luffy dan Law (Fujitora malah santai-santai makan mie soba, lalu Sengoku ikut-ikutan). Jawabannya sederhana: dadu menunjukkan angka satu (memang dasar tukang judi!). Saat Tsuru yang diberi kesempatan melempar dadu, keluarlah angka enam. Seketika, keputusan Fujitora berubah dan mengejar Mugiwara. Pertempuran sengit satu lawan satu pun terjadi. Luffy yang manusiawi selalu menyebutkan serangannya sebelum mengenai Fujitora karena ia buta. Fujitora merasa tersinggung karena ia merasa diperlakukan tidak sama dan kebutaannya adalah hal yang ia buat sendiri. Sampai akhirnya, warga berlarian menuju kapal di pelabuhan timur sembari berteriak kepada Luffy untuk mengembalikan Rebecca yang telah diculik. Dalam ketiadaan penglihatan, Fujitora tidak merasakan adanya kebencian dan kemarahan dalam sikap para warga. Mereka sengaja melakukan itu agar Fujitora tidak jadi menyerang dengan puing-puing bangunan yang sudah diangkat ke atas awan, padahal mereka datang untuk mengucap terima kasih. Fujitora seketika merenungi, seperti apa rupa Luffy. Ia bahkan menyesal telah membutakan matanya karena tidak bisa melihat Luffy. Ia yakin bahwa Luffy berwajah orang baik. Dan terakhir, puing-puing itu ia jatuhkan kepada kapal bajak laut lain yang menyerang grup Luffy, sebagai hadiah perpisahan. Wahai Issho-san, dirimu adalah laksamana terbaik dan paling adil!

Sebagai penutup. Semalam saya menutup hari dengan menyaksikan kisah akhir Kyros dan Rebecca. Kyros merasa bahwa tugasnya sudah selesai untuk melindungi Rebecca dan sudah saatnya ia pergi. Ia merasa tidak pantas hidup bersama Rebecca yang merupakan putri kerajaan, sedangkan ia mantan kriminal. Rebecca yang sedang bersiap untuk acara pengukuhan Raja Riku dan penetapannya sebagai putri kerajaan (calon pewaris tahta), dihampiri oleh Luffy yang mengatakan bahwa ayahnya akan pergi. Tanpa Ragu, Rebecca memilih ikut dengan Luffy, walaupun harus merobek gaun cantiknya. Dan ketika pertemuan anak-ayah itu terjadi, saya meneteskan air mata entah yang sudah ke sekian kalinya. Rebecca hanya punya satu ayah. Rebecca adalah putri Kyros. Rebecca ingin hidup bersama Kyros, sang heitai-san (prajurit) yang selama ini membesarkannya selama 10 tahun terakhir, mencari nafkah, mengajarinya bertarung, dan melindunginya. Setelah 10 tahun mereka tidak bisa tinggal serumah (karena peraturannya adalah mainan tidak boleh tinggal serumah dengan manusia), tentu saat ini adalah saat yang dinantikan Rebecca. Walaupun harus melepas statusnya sebagai pewaris tahta (yang diserahkan kepada Viola untuk kedua kalinya), ia tidak peduli. Yang terpenting, Rebecca bisa hidup bersama sang ayah prajurit berkaki satu, Kyros. Rebecca pun menggenggam tangan ayahnya seraya berkata "Apakah terasa lebih hangat?" "Ya, hangat sekali," jawab Kyros yang pada akhirnya mampu merasakan kembali sebuah kehangatan setelah 10 tahun lamanya bertubuh timah.

So obviously, it’s going to be the Strawhats versus them, like that’s just going to happen since Oda has been hyping these fights up

So here’s how i think Akainu is gonna go: he’s gonna have them(Strawhats) cornered and it’s going to be the normal One Piece big battle, they’re going to be losing ground, members are going to get desperate and go down and this is a personal want, i want Luffy to be absent for the first half and i want Jimbei and Zoro to be leading as best as they can and i want akainu to do the villain thing; WHERES YOUR CAPTAIN?! Yknow they all do it, and from the sky, i want Luffy to drop on him like he did in Marineford, and also like marine ford, i want the entire strawhat armada to come with him, and i want him and Marco to just knock Akainu across the entire new world Then drown him. I want to watch his justice fail.

So I’d like to think Luffy is gonna fight Blackbeard too, but Blackbeard is wildly different than AkainuBlackbeard is gonna go down cause he’s going to get cocky and he’s gonna do what every opponent that’s faced Luffy has done and that’s just take his strength at face value because yeah the kids strong but he’s not just strong, he’s a D, he’s tenacious, when he says he’s going to do something, time and time again he proves he’ll do it so i think they’ll make Blackbeard just take his base value strength and fight like that but he’ll get cocky and that will definitely be his downfall Luffy better get in like an Afro and paint his chest and war cry and i want the remnants of the Whitebeard pirates and luffys crew to just fucking cheer and go wild(i want garp, Law, sengoku, the entire new world) to see itBuggy needs to live stream the Blackbeard vs Luffy fight

Ok, so I have a lot I want to say on chapter 1052 but I needed to fully digest it first.

I still do not think Yamato should be joining the Strawhat pirates. Partially for the same reason I am okay with Momo keeping Wano closed at the moment.

We know that One Piece is moving into the final Era. It’s highly likely that Robin is currently reading Kaido’s road ponyglyph. That means there is only 1 left before we find the entrance to Laugh Tale. After we find whatever the One Piece is, there is going to be a massive war, and Luffy and his armada are going to show the world what Im, the Five Elders, the 19 Celestial Dragons, and the World Government well and truly is.

We see that the World Government is already starting to crumble. The power balances of the world are shifting and the World Government is scrambling to try and preserve that power structure. The Marines/Navy, the shichibachi/ seven war lords, and the yonko are all said to be equal. However the Navy just reorganized, the warlord system has been abolished, and now two Yonko’s have been toppled. In addition the news of Wano has leaked and Wano has been a wild card since this started.

There are a number of places in the world that are extremely difficult to enter, not impossible but difficult. Like Ryuji Kingdom, Little Garden, Wano, Skypeia, and Elbaf to name a few. These worlds have some extremely powerful beings that the World Government does their best to control or create enough hatred and distrust of the ones that they can to keep them from becoming a danger to their order. Like Fishmen, like giants, and so on. Wano is a world that has secrets that could cause some significant damage. So not only is keeping the country closed at the moment giving Momo and the rest an opportunity to regroup and organize themselves but it also lowers them on the World Government’s priority list.

Now for Yamato. His father just fell, the Beast Pirates, the people who helped turn Wano into the hell it has been for the last twenty years is leaderless. In addition Yamato wants to be the next Oden. So why not take charge of the Beast pirates? Force them to help rebuild Wano and become the eighth crew in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Then when that finale battle comes, they align with Luffy.

Now, covering the actual chapter itself. I am concerned about Robin being MIA but I’m assuming she’s working toward the future. I am also super concerned about Zoro, Luffy, and Sanji. The three seem alright in this chapter, but I’m just seeing Thriller Bark all over again. Zoro pretended he was fine after that too, only for us to learn later just how significant all that d manage had been. This isn’t over, we are going to see the impacts of Sanji’s body structure changing, Luffy’s awakened state activating, and Zoro’s brush with death later.

I am also concerned about Green Bull making their way over to Wano. I am making no judgements on their two scenes because Aokiji was riding a bike on the ocean and sleeping while standing up. It sucks because we can’t even relax a little. Ever since we have entered the New World there has been almost no time for everyone to catch their breath.

Wano is starting to recover at least so that is a relief. The kids are being taught their real history, a shrine is being put up for those that have been lost. Ashura and Izo are among the dead, which as sad as I am to loose Izo I would think CP0 was a joke if he hadn’t.

Even more interesting we have new bounties and new emperors. Whatever this numbers are though are going to reflect whatever Apoo and CP0 told the government. I expect Luffy and his crew to jump up significantly, especially Robin now that she is the only person who can read those stones. I also expect Law and Kidd to jump up too. Yamoto is likely to end up with a bounty since he is not a citizen of Wano, and maybe even this who left Wano have a possibility of receiving one.

Luffy is going to be the newest Yonko, because Morgan’s has already named him ‘the fifth emperor’ so Morgan’s is likely going to pander toward the Strawhats again. As for the next… who knows. And let’s not forget Big Mom’s crew either. That’s going to be a fun mess to sort out too as they got wiped out.

Anyway we got like 1 more chapter before a month long break, so we’ll see where this heads. I just hope the crew really can have their awesome banquet before leaving.

I have yet to see Stampede, actually! Keep meaning to get around to it; maybe I finally will during this quarantine thing.

An invitation to talk about Sabo? Don’t mind if I do! Cause, see, I’ve been having thoughts lately, and, y’all, hot take incoming. Also, I am not caught up, fair warning.

The thing is, okay, is I love Sabo, but he’s really, y’know, not…necessary? No, wait, wait, come back–

Look, it’s just? For something as well-plotted and -told as One Piece, Sabo’s backstory stands out as a sloppy last-minute addition.

He has a lot of potential of being a really cool character and bringing in a whole new side to the story, mainly the Revolutionary Army. That fits with the whole idea of the Strawhat armada, even; Luffy is growing and making a name for himself, and he’s causing ripples. It’s what we’ve seen yonko do, and having a literal Army for backup is both impressive and terrifying. With the political stuff we’ve seen going on behind the scenes at Reverie, etc, it could even be important.

Instead, Sabo is just being treated as a carbon copy of Ace.

It feels sloppy, too, because he wasn’t even introduced until after Ace’s death. Given what we’ve seen Oda do, it would havemade a lot more sense to have him remember just before and be unable to make it in time, or any other tragic way to do it.

It’s not entirely unprecedented; Luffy didn’t mention Ace until he showed up, after all. But the only clues we have of him are Ace’s tattoo and then the sake cups in 558 (only 25 chapters before the reveal), and for someone as good at  foreshadowing as Oda, it strikes me as odd. (I’m not counting the tophat at Loguetown–it’s circumstantial at best.) It wouldn’t have taken more than a page or so to have Luffy and Ace mention it when they were together in Alabastia (“Say, Ace… you think he’d be proud of us…?” “Yeah, Luffy. Yeah, I do.”). And Ace, unlike Luffy, has a history of bragging about his brother.

Apparently Law was meant to  be a one-off and was brought back, and yet that’s much more smoothlyintegrated than Sabo’s sudden ret-con. It was sudden, out of nowhere,and–I dunno, it feels like a response to the backlash over Ace’s death more than something planned?

Granted, the relation to the Revolutionary Army is important, but there’s Dragon, there’s Ivankov, there’s Koala; there needs to be a Sabo-shaped character there, sure, but not Sabo himself. Sabo has, to this point, not had any actual effect on the plot that is related to him being Luffy’s brother. Anyone powerful enough could have showed up post-Dressrosa. Dragon could have done it. Coby could have done it. Jinbe could have done it. Koala or any other RA member could have done it. Boa could have done it.

He defended Luffy, and he ate the mera-mera, but until we see how those shake out, I’m not convinced he needed this backstory to do it.

I write a lot of Sabo, and I am very well aware that the Sabo I write is not canon!Sabo. That’s because I like the idea of Sabo more than the canon reality of him. I like his potential, and the dynamics we could have had. I like a Sabo who has his ownpersonality, who is a product of his environment, and is more than just the ghost of his brother.

I’m gonna withhold judgement until we see if he actually has any real impact on the storyline going forward, but as it stands? Right now?

I love Sabo, ya’ll, but as far as current canon goes? Whether Ace died or not, Sabo is still completely unnecessary.

For Miyuki as an individual it is four years in her main verse (One Piece).  If she’s 24, if she dates younger, they have to be 20.  She may make exceptions for those older than her, but mostly for post-time skip.  (She prefers being the shrimp in the relationship, but she will play big spoon as needed.  I suddenly feel like I am writing a recipe...)

Same for modern AU, but I aged her up usually to 20-21.  She is pretty childish in some aspects as supposed to others her age.  However, due to her history, she is pretty independent and mature in other aspects as opposed to those her own age.  While she likes being cared for, she likes doing the protecting and caring, too.

For her other verses, it really depends.  She prefers people around her age.  For the immortal and inhuman verses, approximately a few hundred year difference?  It feels more like three years to her compared.

⇾  Are you selective when shipping?: Yes, if there is chemistry between both characters and mods, it is a yes.  If not, it is a no.  If I do not agree with some of the headcanons or portrayal, it is a no-go. I will be happy to do platonic ships instead.  It is similar for OC/OC, if Miyuki meshes well with her partner, it’s a yes.

Miyuki is weird when it comes to certain aspects of her behavior, reactions, and what not.  If she really vibes with her partner, she will protect them just as much as they do with her.  I know that does not say much, but until I update her information pages and headcanons, I cannot be specific.

One Piece: Episode Zero

Thanks for recommending Episode 0. Glad I watched it after the movie, as there were horrendous spoilers at the start. They showed the scene when the Strawhats were suited up with guns and the moment of Luffy’s final, winning move against Shiki. His disbelief that another man from East Blue was his undoing was the launchpad into Episode 0, though, so it made sense.

It was short but sweet. And really good fun because holy crap those cameos. I tried to keep track of them all but honestly, I think I’ve missed some as I realised looking at screenshots that even more were in the background!

THOSE CAMEOS

The next scenes were flashbacks to the time not long before Gol D. Roger became Pirate King. Sirens blared. A young Garp strode purposefully towards a ship with Tsuru-chan (I cannot believe she lets him call her Tsuru-chan) and Aokiji in tow. At least, I think that’s Aokiji. He looks different when he smiles. That must have been before his promotion and the stress of job hit him.

The ship he was heading for was Sengoku’s. The way they bickered over the Shiki case was like a cop drama. “Don’t mind me. I’ll let you take all the credit!” “That’s not what I mean!” Nice to see that Garp and Sengoku have always bickered like that.

Also interesting to see that Kizaru has worn that same suit for around seventeen years. He must have an excellent dry cleaner.

As they set out to pursue Roger, the action cut to a confrontation in the New World between Shiki and Roger.

Wait Now, The What??

The amount of cameos here was tremendous.

I kept having to pause so I could do a double take then cheer whenever I recognised a favourite character. Of course, there was Buggy, wailing because Captain Roger was facing off against the vast fleet of Shiki the Golden Lion. Then there was a baby-faced young Shanks, who was like, “Buggy, you can be cut into loads of pieces and you won’t die. Calm down.” Crocus (Laboon’s caretaker) was the ship’s doctor! This was news to me. Did I forget this or have I never known that?  And Rayleigh. He was blonde! Who knew? (Well, you guys, probably.)

Then there was Roger. You see him in action so rarely, it’s hard not to be hyped when you see him. Now the relationship between him and Ace is revealed, I keep looking for Ace in Roger. Honestly, I still see Luffy. Less in looks, more in attitude. Though Ace’s tendency to never back down is definitely there.

It was all fun seeing all the characters in their younger days, the confrontation with Shiki caught me off guard. Mainly when Shiki said: “We’ll use that apocalyptic weapon you found. Become my right hand man and we’ll conquer the world with your weapon and my military might.” 

WAIT, WHAT?? Was Shiki talking about Pluton? The one Spandam was afraid of and the one Franky burned the blueprints for? Did Roger really find it via the poneglyphs he’d been tracking down? (I remember he scrawled “ROGER WUZ HERE” on the Skypiea one, didn’t he?) 

Well, at any rate, Roger wasn’t interested. “If you can’t do as you please, there’s no point in being a pirate, is there? Shiki, I refuse your offer!” He said this while the Oro Jackson was absolutely surrounded by Shiki’s fleet. The subsequent battle was known as the Great Battle of Edd War. A change in weather sunk half of Shiki’s ships and an accident forced Shiki to flee the battlefield.

I say accident. He ended up with half a steering wheel stuck in his head.

“Happens all the time,” Shiki said.

“Um no. It’s actually unheard of,” his physician replied. Ha. That was good. Made me warm to Shiki more as a character.

While Shiki recovered from his steering wheel accident, Roger found the One Piece, became Pirate King, mysteriously disappeared, then was captured by these suave specimens.

Marine Cut Suits: For When You Always Skip Leg Day

Shiki did not take the news well. He literally shot the messenger who delivered it (Chill, Shiki. It’s not his fault!) He took his rage out on Marineford, destroying half of it in a fit of denial. How could Roger be captured? 

“There’s no way he could be caught by trash like you! We might have been enemies but we are part of the same era. I respected his strength. If anyone’s killing him, it’s me!” That’s such a Vegeta-ish attitude. Love it.

Garp and Sengoku brought more bad news. Not only was Roger’s execution scheduled for a week hence, it was to take place in Roger’s home, Loguetown, in East Blue.

“WTF? That weaksauce place?” Shiki yelled. He was in major denial. He has serious problems with that place.  “That’s just your last insult to Roger!”

“Nope,” Garp said. “East Blue is a symbol of peace. That’s why we’re doing it.” (See, the Marine are all about Dat Symbolism. Even then, they were at it. Execute the disrupting influence in the place of peace to show it has been restored.)

Then Garp and Sengoku threw off their cloaks. That’s fighting talk. Shiki got his ass kicked and was locked up in Impel Down.

More Cameos than Word Up

Shiki missed the party, but the cameos at the famous speech were multitude. I spotted Moria, Crocodile, a young upset Shanks, Buggy, Dragon, Mihawk (wearing a Hawaiian shirt - obviously before he turned goth), and... was that Doflamingo? There was a resemblance, but I’m not sure...

Then, when the news got out, there was Cricket of Skypiea fame, Portgas D. Rouge, Nefertari Cobra, the two giants from Enies Lobby, Tonjit the Stilt guy, Dory and Broggy, CP9 and the Hancock sisters. Plus a worrying shot of who I’m certain is little Sanji. He looked like exactly his bounty poster. I hope the stuff about him being a cursed child is just a joke because if not, poor Sanji.

The Mightiest of Cameos in His Giant Bean Chair

For two years, Shiki languished in Impel Down. I remember hearing that the last person to break out of there was Shiki the Golden Lion way back just as the war arc was starting (or maybe before. Can’t remember exactly when). So it was great to finally see how he did it.

Got to admit, it was badass. Shiki pulled a Zeff and hacked off his own legs. He floated about Impel Down, dripping blood, before escaping Magellan and Hannyaball, who were still trainee wardens at the time. 

Garp was notified of the break out during his vacation. I like he always used his vacation time to visit Ace and Luffy. At least he did visit from time to time.

When news of the break out hit, Toei hit me with even more cameos. Bellmere, Zeff, my old favourites Dr Hiluluk and Kureha, Dalton and the Old King (before Wapol), Tom-san, Franky and Iceberg, little Hatchi, Shakky and Rayleigh, and even the random guy who got stuck in a barrel.  Robin was a tiny fugitive on the run. Laboon was still sad. Brook was still lonely.

And then there was Whitebeard. I loved how dismissive he was of Shiki’s plan. Where did Shiki get off on calling Whitebeard a geezer? He looks way older than Whitebeard. (And look who’s lurking in the back? Teach. Smh. What a skeevy traitor. Hanging in the back, thinking of Devil Fruits, probably.)

Still not sure why Shiki went with Dr Fart Clown’s mad plan to breed mutated animals over twenty years when he could have concentrated on rebuilding power and armada, but oh well!

Guess that’s what happens when you employ fart clowns.

WAIT A MINUTE, IS THAT DUVAL?? XD

[ SBS Volume 88 - Doflamingo Saat Ini ] Setelah kalah dari Luffy di Dressrosa, Doflamingo dan beberapa bawahannya dibawa ke Impel Down. Pihak petinggi angkatan laut Yang ikut membawa Doffy kesana diantaranya adalah Sengoku, Admiral Fujitora, dan tiga Vice Admiral (Tsuru, Bastille, Maynard). Armada Jack sempat berniat membebaskan Doflamingo di tengah lautan, tapi mereka gagal. Total ada empat Kapal Angkatan Laut yang mengantarkan Doflamingo menuju Impel Down. Armada Jack hanya bisa menenggelamkan dua di antaranya. Doflamingo pun tetap menuju Impel Down. Nasib dia ternyata disinggung di SBS Volume 88, ada dua pertanyaan pula. Berikut ini isi SBS nya (keduanya merupakan SBS chapter 887), yang sudah kami translate ke dalam bahasa. Dokusha / Pembaca : "Dimana Tuan Muda saat ini?" ~ P.N. Sama Prince Oda : "Level 6 Impel Down". Dokusha : "Apakah Tsuru akan mengikuti permintaan Doflamingo dan membawanya koran setiap hari?" ~ P.N. Coo Oda : "Tidak mungkin, bagaimana bisa seorang tahanan mendapatkan pelayanan seperti itu? Tetapi Doffy mempunyai banyak teman di penjara, Aku yakin dia akan menggunakan beberapa cara untuk mendapatkan koran dari waktu ke waktu. Fufufufu!" ========= Nah, dari dua SBS itu disimpulkan Doffy saat ini sudah dipenjara di Level 6 Impel Down. Level 6: Eternal Hell merupakan penjara tempat tahanan yang kuat, yang telah melakukan tindak kriminal berat, dan juga eksistensinya menjadi bahaya besar bagi Pemerintah Dunia. Ace, Jinbe, Crocodile, Shiliew, dan Shiki, merupakan contoh orang yang pernah berada di Level 6. Tidak diketahui nasib bawahan Doflamingo yang lain. Kurasa yang lainnya berada di Level yang lebih rendah. Kecuali tentu saja Level 5,5 , yang hanya segelintir penghuni Impel Down mengetahui akan eksistensinya. Menariknya, Donxquixote Pirates mempunyai anak buah yang cocok menjadi okama, yaitu Dellinger xD Mengenai maksudnya "teman Doffy" di SBS kedua, ada dua makna : 1. Teman disini adalah Donquixote Pirates. 2. Teman disini merupakan mantan rekan bisnis Doffy yang sudah jadi tahanan terlebih dahulu. Jangan lupa jika Doffy salah satu tokoh penting di dunia Underworld. Dari keinginannya yang ingin mengetahui berita luar (Doffy memang kepo, lol), sepertinya Doffy ingin melihat kekacauan New World dan sejauh mana Strawhat Pirates bisa beraksi. Plus agar dia tidak bosan di penjara. Fufufufufu ! Apakah Doffy berniat kabur dari Impel Down? Bisa ya, bisa tidak. Kurasa sulit bagi mereka untuk mengikuti jejak Luffy, kecuali ada bantuan dari luar. Kita tidak tahu kapan lagi Impel Down akan disinggung di dalam cerita. Doflamingo, Bon Clay, dan Magellan merupakan karakter menarik yang ada disana, yang membuat fans berkeinginan agar mereka dimunculkan kembali. FYI, Magellan kini turun pangkat menjadi Vice Warden. Hannyabal yang kini menjadi Chief Warden of Impel Down, menggantikan Magellan.
