ITS MY AU AND I SAY ACE LIVES AND BUGGY LEAVES THE MARINES AT MARINEFORD.
because a stronger buggy who watched these kids grow up, already has lost sabo and wasn't able to protect luffy. has shared his pain of abandonment with ace - who has told ace he is so happy that ace was born, has sworn to love ace as much as roger couldn't and rogue wasn't able to...
that buggy would put himself between an admiral and his nephew.
and that buggy would get in a lot of trouble.
after the peace forced by shanks' arrival settles, he sneaks off with crocodile who thinks having the marine who betrayed his own banner on a livestream (that was originally set up so beloved captain firebug would be announcing the execution of the scourge fire first, but oh did that backfire.) would be neat.
he will go to whitebeard's burial, he will thank the man for loving ace and showing him a world of family, and he will finally face shanks. remembering how he once was happy on the Oro Jackson. how they were his family and where he met his first and only love, and inform him that he going to find the one piece and become king of the pirates because that's his dream now.
& shanks falls in love even more.
+ this is how, instead of recruiting a large amount of impel down prisoners, buggy recruits the remnants of the whitebeard pirates. he is all their uncle now (and ace gets to cock block croc and mihawk because DO NOT LOOK AT HIS UNCLE??? YOU FREAKS???)
bonus: buggy and ace fighting over the receiver calling rosi (who survived because I said so) after the dust settles on a private line like "YOUR SON?? IS CREEPY AF?? HE BETTER BE HEALING MY PRECIOUS LITTLE BRAT LUFFY AND NOT SELLING HIS ORGANS!!!"

I would pay so much money to Oda just to know where the remnants of the Spade Pirates are. We know they integrated into the Whitebeards, so they were there at Marineford and possibly at the Grudge War afterwards too. So if so….then where are they!?! 😭😭
Are they alive? Have they met Luffy? Do they want to? What about Deuce? 🤔
REAL. deuce has made a couple brief anime appearances but they seem to all be flashbacks... after the whitebeards dissolve i could see skull going back to his informant gig solo, maybe mihal settles down to teach kids full time without the pirating stuff, but deuce... with how the manga ended i want soooo badly for him to show up again
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i need him to meet luffy so fucking bad. AND I ACTUALLY ONLY JUST NOW NOTICED THIS BUT. HOW DOES HE KNOW ABOUT SABO??? he specifically mentions the revs chief of staff what is up with that!!! i need deuce to reappear soooo fucking bad

Ok but Yara in the Fishman Island arc tho. After she and Perona accompany Zoro to Sabaody she decides to hitch a ride (perhaps at Luffy's insistence) with the Straw Hats to get back to the New World. She's had enough moping over what happened at Marineford and has decided to go looking for the Whitebeard Pirates remnants. So what better way to get there than to finally witness the Straw Hat shenanigans firsthand? I've always described Yara as being Straw Hat-adjacent like Vivi or Yamato or even Ace so this might be a fun time for her to actually temporarily travel with the crew
The comedy potential. Her reassuring Usopp and Chopper that she's made the trip to Fishman Island dozens of times before with the Whitebeard Pirates only to blink and go "Huh. That's new." at every little thing that goes wrong. Using her engagement ring (that she keeps with her at all times) as a shield against Sanji's nosebleeds. Her and Zoro getting lost together when the Straw Hats get separated and bickering about it. ("How did you manage to get us so lost?!" "Me?! I thought you'd been here before!" "Yes, to the civilized areas, not some random coral jungle!" "Hey, I saved your life! You could be a little more grateful about that, at least!"). Being overly pissy about the sight of Big Mom's flag where Whitebeard's once was and getting all "Back when Pops was protecting this place..." grumpy swordswoman yells at cloud at every little thing.
Still a developing idea but idk could be fun and would make sense based on where she'd be at at that point in the story.

Brick by Brick (Putting it Together)
Tumblr media
Well, 1126 certainly ends off on a wild and very interesting note I have a lot to say about. But I don't want to bury the very interesting stuff getting there. First...hell yeah we're getting trashed on Giant absinthe! If you're unfamiliar, that is an alcohol made with a specific type of wormwood that isn't necessarily the strongest booze out there but it's unique for having hallucinogenic effects. Well, for having a reputation for that though it's exaggerated.
Still, it's important to note we're here just casually partying on the way to Elbaf given what happens next. On the way there though, we're going to continue this element of getting back to some of the side stories set up in Egghead. The lines are still very blurred in terms of whether we've finished that arc or are starting a new one. Much more than we typically see in these intermission chapters. So let's look at the two we have, remembering there are thematic ties and how they may all resonate with the title. "Payback" is an interesting term with context in this series.
Tumblr media
Especially when we see this guy. So yeah, FWIW this chapter title is the same Kanji as the "Payback" in Payback War, where Marco led the Whitebeard Remnants in trying to get even with Blackbeard. That's not the only time we'll mention the legacy of the Whitebeard Pirates which is always something I'll take interest in when a certain one of them felt unfinished in his own arc. We still have Marco and Bakkin/Weevil's story running through Sphinx Island.
That said, the scene is interesting in its own right. BB getting onto Pizarro here is pretty funny. Lafitte keeping an eye on the Revolutionaries current siege on the Red Line is intriguing, but the big thing to me is the prisoner swap. Perona & Moria got away but they captured Garp and we see Pudding here too. Blackbeard always has that way of mirroring Luffy. If nothing else, they've both "captured" a big shot to the World Government here with Lilith/Garp. Moria slipping away with important secrets though could mirror Caribou doing the same to Luffy and of course Pudding is interesting as well. But this isn't the only side story we get an update on.
Tumblr media
Hell yeah Barto, and fuck you Shanks for blowing up the Going Luffy-Senpai. I wanna get to the fireworks factory though so we'll keep this quick. There's two elements. One, this works nicely with other scenes showing the Grand Fleet getting up to trouble since Dressrosa. That plus Shanks hammering home the idea he has to respond to save face. Explaining why it matters. Shouldn't be anything new to you if you've been reading along with me for a while, but for a refresher I do still feel this is something Luffy was starting to get in Wano. Key word being starting.
It's something he was showing he was learning with how Kiku in Bakura Town builds off Katakuri/Future Sight and flows into Hyogoro in Udon. Then it starts to break away from that first with Yamato forcing his way in, then Gear Five, then seems completely forgotten come Egghead. Which starts with aggressive reminders none of this nonsense had anything to do with you and ends on the complementary note of losing control of how the story gets told. But...we all know we're here to talk about one event this chapter.
Tumblr media
Huh? The Sunny mysteriously disappears and we see Nami being woken up by someone in...a Lego house? I wanna do bullet points and kinda quickly address all the stuff we see flying around because this is both absolutely bonkers but also not too far off from some of the things I thought could happen with how we've had weird elements of how Wano/Egghead were written:
First off who. Who was split off into this odd area. It was the original six and the more recent four crew mates this time. Interesting. A lot of people jump to Vivi right away. It's equally true that these are the crewmates who met Ace and also that we got the younger ones apart from their elders.
A lot of people have jumped right to thinking this is Elbaf and Loki has Nami in something like a dollhouse. Lego do come from a "Viking" country and that'd explain the outfit...but we've never seen anything like this aesthetic.
Real absinthe may not be super hallucinogenic...but it has a real reputation for that. One the Giants invoked. That could be a part of things.
Stussy isn't out of the question though. Especially when we get a little reminder of the brokers via Umit coming up earlier.
If there's any known Devil Fruit power this may fit with it'd be Sugar's. Which is a stretch. But this vibe could be a bridge to thematically tying Elbaf & Whole Cake.
This could be a ship, that was the first thing I thought seeing the actual panel. So the "Man Marked by Flames" and his ability to cause whirlpools isn't a bad idea.
OG Kuma is there, he coulda shoved the Sunny away. Doubtful but a possibility.
Hopefully next chapter gives us more to go on. But for now if we want to ponder things keep the facts we can glean in mind. It had to be something sudden that could happen without the other ship noticing. Whoever is calling out has to be someone who'd know Nami. We don't know which side we'll focus on for resolving this. By the same token you could say this is the gang that knows Vivi so she has to show up...it's really just split based on time. We could just as easily focus more on giving the latecomers a chance to shine figuring this one out. Or they could go on to Elbaf and set it up like Zou so we don't really need to fabricate a conflict for that arc when we finally get there.
Whichever way it goes...this is exactly the type of shit I wanted to see and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds...
...
...
Have you stuck with me this long? Humor me, it's my birthday weekend. Probably the last time I get to say this...but what a swan song. There's a bullet points I left off, but it'd check all the boxes right? Someone unassuming has been on the ship and thus gets snagged away with the early comers. There you go, friendly face that isn't drunk and has had time to get a handle on the situation. And still a reason to keep them obscured. Blends well with this Blackbeard/Shanks stuff, Yamato's entry in the cover saga, and still leaves Drake for the actual reveal.

Alrighty so I’m finally getting around to writing some modern au One Piece fic so I figured I should probably share some background for it!
Everything is set in one giant city and I have put way too much thought into this
City is roughly split up between the “four emperors”
The Grand Line(NE-SW) is the main commercial street that runs through the center of the city where every large group has a front. It intersects Red Street(NW-SE) which divides the territories. The Hospital sits at the East corner of where the Grand line and red street intersect.
Big mom’s pastries
The Red Force bar - cocktail bar
Kids repair shop
The Amazon Lily - Boa Hancock’s strip club
Rayleigh is a legal consultant and the only piece of neutral territory on the grand line
Marinefold- the Town hall sits dead center of Red street
Lodge square - located in the center in front of city hall
Pacifista church - run by Kuma, large mega church
Etc.
The Heart territory is a couple blocks in the East side that spans from Law’s apartment to the employee entrance of the hospital
All of the Hearts work either at the hospital or the Heart Club
Hearts are highly territorial despite being in Red Hairs area
The Hearts have tattoos but no markings on their medical uniforms
The large hospital where Law works is neutral territory and pretty much every doctor/surgeon there is affiliated with a group
The white coats of the doctors each have the symbol of their affiliated group embroidered with white thread. Each major group has at least one doctor that is deemed safe to go to
Kaido is a Yakuza group and Kin'emon’s group is the remnants of the Kozuki clan that are trying to retake the territory
East side is Red Hair
Locations-
Baratie- restaurant Sanji works at and common meeting place of the Straw Hats
Water 7- Large mechanic shop, Franky uses one of the workshops there for personal projects and to repair their Van(The Sunny)
The Heart Club- A below ground nightclub owned by Law
Patty’s bar- Run by Makino and frequented by Shanks
Mihawk’s Dojo- Zoro frequently trains there
Elegia recordings - Run by Shanks and started to Publish his daughter’s music
Uta started as a streamer then starting doing live performances once her popularity grew, she is often out of the city on tour
She is a very active protester and has been arrested multiple times
Soul KIng - Music supply shop owned by brook
Brook who was a famous musician who faked his death and moved into town to avoid the publicity (still very recognizable)
The straw hats live friends style with 3 apartments on the same floor. They are the local menaces and are constant up in everyone’s business
North Side is Kaido
Locations
Onigashima- Formally called the Kozuki theater was taken over by Kaido and turned into a club. Run by Orochi but paid for by Kaido. The daughter of Oden works undercover as a dancer.
Oden restaurant - Named after the late boss of the Kozuki family is run by his friends and son, current front to the Kozuki Yakuza group
DonQuixote Inc. headquarters- Center of Doffy’s operations and front for the family
Dressrosa Casino - run by Doflamingo. Hosts fights at its arena. Formerly run by the Riku family, Viola Riku currently sits on the board.
Punk Labs- Caesar’s lab, Donquixote is their parent company. Was formally run by Vegapunk.
Cipher pol - Government intelligence. Has agents stationed in every region
-Local occult shop run by Hawkins. Perona works part time doing seances
West side is Big Mom
Locations
Germa 66 publishing company- a well known action comic publishing company owned and run by Sanji’s family
Thriller Bark - Haunted house run by Gecko Moria
Zoo - Run by a wildlife conservation group called Zou
Drum University Campus - known for its medical programs
South side is Whitebeard
Locations
Local Police station
Alabasta Gallery - an upscale art gallery. Formerly run by the Nefertari family has recently become a front for the Baroque Works gang run by Crocodile selling counterfeit art
The family heir Vivi is a curator trying to gain evidence to take down Crocodile and restore the Gallery to its former glory.

Hiiiiii! I wanted to request an angsty fic, where reader is like Scarlet Witch in WandaVision who makes this alternate universe where Whitebeard is alive and like Ace is Vision and they both have kids. While all that's happening in the Hex, the Red Hair Pirates, remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates, and the Straw Hats try to stop her since she's taking over the New World. (The Marines are trying to kill her) I'll leave the angsty details to you since I suck at thinking🤣 THANK YOUUU, HAVE A GREAT DAY!
PICTURE PERFECT - PORTGAS D. ACE X READER
Tumblr media
Warnings : Marineford spoilers, mentions of death, blood, gore, and the like, grief and delusions, this can be generally unsettling, this is not proofread, reader is gender-neutral!
Genre : angst (plus creepiness)
Word count : 1.0K words
Additional notes : Hi nonnie! So sorry for taking a ridiculously long time to get to this, but as you might know by now, I’ve been on hiatus after certain traumatic events in my life. I had to change up quite a few things in this because I haven’t watched anything from the Marvel Universe, so I know absolutely nothing about how this would work🫠 Also, I’ve had requests for ficlets (4K+ word-long pieces) turned off for over a year now, so I couldn’t get into too much detail anyways. And of course, as stated in my rules, unless the gender affects the plot, I write my readers as gender-neutral to be as inclusive as possible. However, I hope this could be somewhat satisfactory to you, with the general vibes I could manage🥹💗
Requests : Are closed for the time being.

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. This wasn’t how they’d planned out their future together.
They’d always expected a life on the run; they’d never imagined anything different. But still, the love between them was too intense to deny, and too unconditional to ever think for a moment that it would ever disappear. If they had no faith in anyone but themselves, they could, at the very least, believe in their love.
Wherever they would’ve gone, they’d still be just as smitten as they were the first day they met. No matter how their future played out, they were so sure that their love would have them dying in each other’s arms at a peaceful old age, their last breaths weaving in bed together. Wherever one went, the other would follow. That was how it was supposed to go.
It wasn’t supposed to end with them carrying Ace’s limp, ice-cold body in their arms. It wasn’t supposed to be the acrid smell of burnt flesh that suffocated them. It wasn’t supposed to be his blood that drenched their clothes and stained them unsalvageable.
They weren’t supposed to be gasping for air as their entire body shook violently, pure horror painting their features. Nor were they supposed to feel bile rising at the back of their throat and tears stinging their eyes at the terrible realization that his chest wasn’t moving, not one inch. As a matter of fact, nothing much remained of his mangled chest at all—if they could even recognize it as his chest anymore.
Their trembling only intensified, failing to register just how empty and mutilated he seemed in their lap. Vision swimming, they couldn’t help but let the ugly sobs rack their body, their tears falling freely down their cheeks. They hiccupped on their sobs, the sounds mingling with the moans of a deep, deep pain that threatened to swallow them whole.
Ace had left them. He’d left them behind. He’d left them behind in a world they no longer wanted nor cared for. He’d left them to look forward to nothing, to feel so empty and numb but somehow consumed by a sadness so immense it nearly ripped them apart.
Perhaps it was that moment, that moment when their entire world crumbled around them, that drove something to crumble inside of them. Something broke, and that odd, unfamiliar something awakened the deepest pit of their sorrow within them. Pandora’s box opened, and it shattered their very reality as they knew it. With Ace’s dead body in their arms, and their wailing piercing the stormy vortex of sudden bleak night, they were soon swallowed into it without even being the slightest bit aware.
The grief was blinding, and they’d lost all control. Where it took them, they didn’t care nor pay it any notice.
***
Having lost track of time, they hadn’t any idea how long it had been. In all cases, it didn’t matter. No, it truly didn’t matter what had happened on that day; after all, why would it? They still had Ace.
Yes, they still had Ace. And he was sitting right behind them on a small, tattered-but-well-loved couch. Strong arms cradled them close to his chest—a perfectly intact, moving chest, not even the slightest bit scarred. Would the universe demand a price from them, for the heinous crime they’d committed just to have this? Maybe. But this universe, at the very least, was one that handed everything to them on a silver platter.
“What’s on your mind?” he mumbled, lazily planting soft, open-mouthed kisses up their neck to their ear, and his teeth lightly tugging at their earlobe.
They hummed in delight, snuggling deeper into his embrace. “Nothing much. Just thinking about how lucky I am.”
Ace laughed a little. “You just called us “three snotty-nosed brats” an hour ago.”
“And? You know I’m right,” they teased him, before asking, “Speaking of, did the kids give you a hard time falling asleep?”
Yes; kids. Kids that kissed them goodnight, kids that clung to them whenever they went out, and kids that would get mud on their carpets but shoot them the sweetest smiles that got them out of trouble every single time. Kids that cried when they scraped their knees, and kids that ran into Pops’ arms whenever he demanded his favorite grandchildren visit him.
Kids that made the small house feel like a warm home, and kids that fit perfectly into that delusion of happiness they’d built, with a father and grandfather that were perfectly healthy and fine. Deceptively so.
Perhaps this sort of deception wasn’t as sinful as it sometimes whispered it was in their ear. Their Devil Fruit had never proved itself useful, and their lack of desire to use it had been the reason why they’d found themself stunned by the existence of this universe of their own creation. The grief that had nearly killed them of heartbreak had been the very same thing to offer some salvation to them, by granting them a second chance in a world where things were perfect, in an almost eerie way.
“—babe? Babe? Hey—“
“Yes, yes,” they sighed, momentarily snapping out of it. “Sorry, got lost in my thoughts for a second.”
“You’ve been doing that pretty often lately.” Ace’s handsome face contorted into a worried frown. “Are you sure everything’s okay?”
They didn’t respond to that. Almost as though on autopilot, their feet carried them to the kids’ room. With stiff movements, they bent over to brush their hair back from their foreheads, hands subtly passing underneath their noses to check that they were breathing. Good. They were very much alive, and very much real. They were real. Not just figments of their imagination.
Ace still seemed confused as they turned to walk back to him. Peering into his beautiful dark eyes, they held their breath for a moment. Yes, yes. Good. His eyes were alive; they weren’t unblinking, nor were they unseeing.
And as they reached up with trembling hands, they could trace the freckles on his cheeks and feel him leaning into their touch. The warmth of his skin was a stark contrast to the icy coldness that remained as a phantom touch in their memories.
They could live like this, forever and ever. No losses, no sorrows staining their flawless lives.
Plastering a smile on their face, they nodded. “Of course. Everything is picture perfect.”

My brain hasn't been able to stop cooking with this one, Taurus!😭😭
So we know right now that Marco's being strong-armed by Bakin to go save Weevil from the Marines, but the thing is, he knows he can't afford to leave Sphinx Island unprotected again. The remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates on his contact list are either too preoccupied at the moment or aren't close by enough to take up watch while he makes things square with old Lady Bakin. He has nobody else to cover for him.
Except. He does have someone else.
Someone else who still owes him for carrying him away from Marineford, who knows the rumor of Whitebeard's treasure is bullshit, and who didn't seem to have quite so much hatred in his heart after Pop's passing. I mean, they did part on slightly better terms than Marco would have expected.
Crocodile doesn't even know how Marco got his denden number and he knows even less what made him say yes. But before he knows it, he and a Cross Guild battalion are camping out on Sphinx Island for a couple of days. And Gabriel and Gryphon insisted on coming along because they can't get enough of seeing new places, even if they're the middle of bumfuck nowhere.
Now Crocodile actually gets to see the place where Whitebeard put his whole life's savings into. The place he grew up. Some of the people here have grandparents who even knew Pops when he was a kid.
Gryphon is busy showing off his sword skills to the other kids in the village (he's picked up Buggy's love for boasting) and Gabriel was supposedly playing with the sphinxes, but he flutters up to Crocodile frightened out of his tiny wits because apparently there's a monster on the island that's shed its skin. Crocodile's prepared to butcher whatever it is, until he sees what it is that's got Gabriel so frightened.
It's not a shed skin. It's a very old, very familiar coat fluttering in the breeze from its two year-old resting place.
He didn't have the nerve to approach the grave back then. What about today?
Not that far in the show yet, but luckily my friend is a Marco Stan and gushes over him about as much as I gush to her about Crocodile, so I know roughly what's going on here.
This is gonna be a long one, so buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the ride.
Marco and Crocodile reconciling post Marineford really is something I've been thinking about working into my headcanon lore.
Like I can see Crocodile paying his respects to Whitebeard and Ace's graves. He would address Ace's first. That man was his son's brother. He'd been there for Luffy when he and Dragon weren't able to. Protected him. Encouraged him. Even gave his life for him. And... he and Ace shared a burden of blood. The man was going to be executed just for carrying his father's name, just as Crocodile would have had Whitebeard not claimed him at God Valley.
And then he would pay his respects to Whitebeard himself. Maybe he would talk to him, maybe he would stand in silence... either way he would feel a deep understanding. The wisdom that experience could give you, or something like that...
That's where Marco would find him. And... that's where Marco drops a bombshell.
This is all headcanon lore, mind you all. This whole post is, actually.
The Whitebeard Pirates had been laying the groundwork for plans to raid Impel Down only a short time before Ace was captured. Why? To break Crocodile out.
Once news had gotten to Whitebeard about him being imprisoned after the whole Alabasta incident, he knew he had to get him out. What was done didn't matter, and the betrayal of Teach brought too much to light about who the real danger to the family was.
But then Ace- another hot-headed son of his- was captured, and all the meticulous planning was reformed into an all out frontal assault.
The World Government wanted a war? Well, they would get one in spades...
Crocodile is... shocked by this. That they still even had it in their hearts to care about him after all the things he had done.
He only wished he'd learned this before he had been well and truly orphaned.

“The resolution of this incident the following day would inflict a kind of shock the world never saw coming.” The words that set the stage for the event that will take place surrounding the Straw Hats beyond chapter 1078.
Each time we’ve seen a major battle where an Emperor has been involved, one side is usually completely devastated by the end. At Marineford, the Whitebeard Pirates lost their captain and a division commander. Kaido and Big Mom’s alliance was thoroughly torn down by the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai alliance.
As part of the lead up to Wano, chapter 909 gives a reminder of Marineford, before Marco tells Neko that the crew later regrouped to fight Blackbeard.
Tumblr media
Forget Blackbeard having two devil fruits, the important thing is that going after an Emperor without allies or merely for the sake of revenge is asking to fail, as much as that stings. Recklessness or going it alone won’t work against an Emperor. I know it’s a joke in some parts of the fandom that Oda likes being mean to the Whitebeard Pirates, but it’s kinda true.
I love Whole Cake Island, though it is a miracle among miracles that the Straw Hats and co made it out of Totland with such few losses. There’s still a part of me that feels that things lined up a bit too well for them there at the end, even accounting for Luffy’s tremendous luck. My own thoughts on the escape from Whole Cake Island aside, the crew reaching Laughtale will feel much better the less allies all come out of the woodwork at the most convenient time.
Tumblr media
Getting back to chapter 909, Marco’s words here likely resonated with the big kitty next to him, Neko being a retainer of Oden who is preparing to fight a big war and has a similar motive. Marco wanting to “make that ingrate pay,” sounds a lot like a dark version of returning a favor. Difference is, preparation for the raid on Onigashima has been building for the past 20 years for the characters, and since Punk Hazard for the readers. The samurai having the Straw Hats specifically on their side is a major boon too. I love Hyogoro’s line about the crew turning despair into hope.
The Straw Hats are folks who had no prior connections to Kaido, and who could go into the battle with clearer heads. Which allowed the samurai focus their energy where it was most needed, after their role in starting off the raid by getting the jump on Kaido in that very cool panel. Whether that be facing an opponent other than Kaido, overcoming a setback for the sake of others, or realizing there is a future for them beyond the battle. Several parts of Wano feel like they are subverting the Marineford War or the Payback War that the Whitebeard remnants fought. Especially in scenes where Luffy, Marco, or Izo are involved.
Tumblr media
And that brings us to Law and Kidd this arc. One got into a battle against Blackbeard, the other Shanks. During Wano, both had an alliance to depend on, willingly or not. Though that is no longer the case for the two of them and I can’t say that I’ve got high hopes for either succeeding against the respective Emperor’s crew they are facing.
The Straw Hats are the Emperor’s crew now and have taken the time to gather allies who could assist them, or in the case of the Grand Fleet, had them join anyway. Major three are Fishman Island and Wano flying the crew’s Jolly Roger, and the Grand Fleet.
Jinbei is here as rep for Fishman Island/the Sun Pirates, the Grand Fleet appearing has been heavily foreshadowed, and given everything about Kiku during Wano’s conclusion, several members of Wano’s cast being directly mentioned by Straw Hats on Egghead, and the many ideas that play well with themes present in Kiku’s story, I find it difficult to come up with any solid counter points to the most floral member of the Akazaya joining the Straw Hats and filling a similar role to Jinbei in the story. I’m thinking Denjiro in 975 is a good example to look at for how parts of Kiku’s potential reveal could happen. Subduing a big threat, speaking of owing a great debt, leading reinforcements. Bonus points if the weather machine on Egghead gets broken and the snow surrounding the island slowly closes in.

Are these different realities, or are Whitebeard and Dio Jaune's grandfathers from different sides of the family?
Okay,
SO...
These are all, shall we say the same reality, and yet not? Like, when I originally thought of this idea, I didn't care about the world building aspects, since I felt they only served to muddy up the already set world-building. So if I had to give an answer that satisfies "but dah lorr sais" folks who tend to nitpick crossovers, it would be pocket dimensions/wormholes. All the worlds are connected, just not in a way that splits up the world. Again, I never cared about world-building in crossovers, except for the times I did and will in the future.
Now for
THE LORE
Here's the gist of it. You have Jaune's family in Remnant. That's them.
Then you have Jaune's extended family, which is not biological. It's more like an honorary title given to people of certain traits (bet you'll guess what the shared trait is).
In my original story idea, Jaune was going to have a family reunion set up by his parents that had to be held at Beacon, which he had to host. Every day, for thirty days, family members from different anime would show up for this reunion until the big finale where they're all hanging out together.
This was just a silly idea I've had for... years, and I figured I might as well do it.

I'll Bring You Home Myself!
A parallel piece to Sun Sailors story-- a different timeline, a different outcome.
Or, I just wanted to self-indulge with my own OC and fix the mess that happened at Marineford.
Word count: 1429
Content: General Audience
Pearl's tie with Whitebeard was set into the cosmos, nothing could break it. Yet, as she stood by his side her tears welled in her auburn and red flecked eyes. It was mere minutes to the time Ace was set to be executed– no murdered. He was going to die, all because he was a remnant of a man the Marines didn’t know. She scowled and her fists balled themselves so tightly that blood ran from her palms. Her God, Fenghuang, was silent. The tie between Whitebeard and Pearl is holding strong.
Pearl gazed up at Whitebeard and pleaded, “Let me fight! You know I have the power, I can change the tide of this war and end it for good!” she yelped. She looked away from her stalwart captain and back at the chaos unfolding in front of her. Why the hell had she made that damn tie with him in the first place? She could have said no and that would have been the end of it. Now she was bound by his word and his word alone. She couldn’t break that unless she wanted a shard of her soul to drift off into the nothingness that surrounded the great cosmos. Lost forever. She had already done it once and it was an agonizing experience to live through, but if it meant that she would be able to save Ace’s life and save the souls of those on the field then she would gladly give up a part of her soul to achieve her goal.
“Have faith in the fight, Luffy must be the one to get Ace.” He replied. Whitebeard’s eyes never left the fight in front of him, in fact, he was solely looking at Ace. His son, his second in command. The snot-nosed brat was a spitfire and deep down Whitebeard wished that things never turned out as they did.
Pearl clenched her hands tighter. She was digging into muscles now. Though it didn’t matter, Fenghuang was feeding her enough power to regenerate those wounds. It didn’t even hurt.
In the back of her mind she could feel Fenghuang ache, she felt her worry and wondered if she too had fallen for the freckled second commander as she had. They were inseparable. Platonic twin flames meant to conquer the seas together.
“What if he fails, tell me you’ll give me your word and set me free. I can’t stay here and just watch!” Pearl grated.
Whitebeard hesitated, this was the fissure that ensured her win.
“If he loses, you will have full reign to leave and do what you want.” There was a grimace plastered on his face but Pearl didn't care, those words sealed themselves into the tie and allowed her to break it without fear of losing her own soul. If luffy fails in his duty to set his brother free then she would step in and achieve his goal for him.
Pearl slammed her fist in her palm and smirked deviously, “So then it is sealed, I’ll rip apart this dusty old fortress and save Ace!”
Fenghuang stirred within her as she too felt the shifting of the tie that bound them to Whitebeard.
A tie was a singular thread that wound itself through the souls of the party that agreed to the verbal terms and drew and shared blood– the needle was the one who called the shots while the thread followed along, willingly or not. It was pure and stronger than any other force within the universe. Only the void that surrounded the outerbanks of the universe could break it, or when the users agree to un-sow the vow to one another. It was a binding spell only used to reign in Gods.
As the battle raged on Luffy ever so slowly closed in on the podium that held Ace. Her gaze never drifted far from his figure as he raced to save his brother. It wasn’t long until he reached the podium and unlocked Ace from his shackles, however, in an equal turn of events Akainu rippled and stormed after the duo. For a short time the two brothers danced in fire and stretchy limbs. Pearl hoped beyond the Gods themselves that they would come out of this alive, but when Akainu shoved his grisly fist through the throng of marines Fenghuang instantly knew that Ace’s death was imminent and that Luffy had failed to save his older brother.
Whitebeard's eyes widened in horror– everyone's eyes widened in horror as the burning hot fist barreled through the pool of marines and towards its target. The tie snapped into its new order and without another word Pearl blasted from her spot beside her captain and flew with great strength to Luffy's side. Shoving both him and Ace out of the way. Luffy was awestruck at the force and speed of her movements. She was above them all, Fenghuang made sure of this.
Just in time to the fierce attack of the Admiral she captured his fist in one fell swoop and laughed maniacally. “You’re getting nowhere near these boys.” She said cruelly as she threw Akainu’s fist right back at him. The surprised and growing rage on his face was immaculate to witness first hand.
“Pirate scum!” he yelled as his attention was focused on Pearl now.
“5th Gate– Solaris’ Rage!” She bellowed as she charged the admiral. “I’ll fucking kill you, shitty fist!” Fenghuangs rage was so close to her soul that it singed and burned and shackled her own rage as the Gods' own, billowing it ten times its original force. She had no devil fruit to call upon the strong wings of Fenghuang, her rage and burning fire was her only ally.
“I’d like to see a bitch like you try.” Akainu growled.
Pearl's power here was reminiscent of a life she had lived before. Her fight with Akainu was hot, fierce, and filled with molten lava that spilled from both sides. In the heat of battle she couldn’t place the memory, but the strength and moves she had used in her previous life were burned into her soul that she just knew it wasn’t from this lifetime. Flashes of green and blood orange filled her vision for an instant before leaving her breathless.
In the raging heat of her own skin and blood red vision the fight had come to a close. Ace was saved and had assisted Luffy in warding off any other attacks the marines may have hidden up their sleeve. Death was equal amongst both sides. After Koby’s fiery speech the war of the best had come to a close. Akainu himself was buried deep into the dusty old fortress– hopefully dead. Remnants of their fight were burned and melted into the very ground where pearl stood. Turning from the fortress her eyes fell upon her friend, her twin flame and his baby brother. A warm smile wrapped itself onto her face as her blood boiled below her skin.
Get to the water to cool off. The velvety voice of her God called to her in her mind. She all but nodded and wandered to the water that was slowly melting from Aokiji’s attack. As she jumped into the water it bubbled and sizzled immediately. She had grown accustomed to the heat she radiated but sometimes it was always a surprise.
“Pearl!” Ace’s voice called from behind her as she floated in the cold water. He knelt beside her and smiled widely, his baby brother standing behind him with an equally large and goofy smile. “I want to say thank you for coming in there like that. I wasn’t sure I would have made it out alive if it wasn’t for you.”
“I was just doing my job protecting my favorite brother!” Pearl responded as she folded her arms on the rapidly melting ice floor.
“I coulda had him!” Luffy rebutted half-heartedly. Pearl just laughed and got out of the water. She walked up to him and just patted his head. “I’m sure you would have, but I wanted to ensure your brother's safety first hand, I know you mean a lot to him and I’m sure the feelings are reciprocated in equal measure!”
Luffy laughed heartily.
Turning to Ace, Pearl held her hands out in an opening gesture for a hug, Ace immediately complied and pulled his friend into a strong and warm embrace. He was safe, everyone was safe.
“It’s time to go home.” Pearl muttered into his neck. Her worry slowly slipped into the oblivion of the outer banks.

Different Species [Alpha Marco x omega reader] - part 2
Tumblr media
Important to understand the context
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 - Final
Word count: 1575
Ok so I abandoned tumblr because of my college evaluations and now that I go into holiday and come to write I realize that the chapters in drafts and I didn't leave them scheduled so they weren't posted....
___
Oden's story spoiler from the Wano arc
I realised I made a mistake in the age count in the previous chapter, actually when Marco was 15 Oden had just joined the crew, two years later when he's 17 Momonosuke is born and when Momo turns two they leave Whitebeard's pirates. I will continue with the mistake of the previous chapter but it was just for your knowledge.
The fanart is not mine but it has the @ of the creator.
___
For Y/n that first rut was hell on earth, after that comforting smell leaving everything seemed to get ten times worse. Throughout the rut all she could do was crave the alpha who possessed such a scent.
When her rut finally ended she was greeted enthusiastically by members of Whitebeard's pirates and eventually joined the crew. Y/n was a skilled fighter in both hand-to-hand and long-range combat, fast and agile using two knives that she could throw with aim.
None of Whitebeard's Pirates mentioned the incident between Y/n and Marco again out of respect as most of them know how hard it is to learn to resist the alpha instinct.
Ever since Y/n had joined the crew Marco had been the alpha that had caught her attention, she didn't know how to explain it but she felt herself constantly pulled towards the alpha. The crew had told her that it was Marco who had carried her to the ship even though the omega could tell by the smell alone but it made her wonder. Why did his scent affect her so much? Was it because it was her first heat? Regardless of whether or not that could have influenced it Y/n loved everything about Marco, being around him just felt right.
Over those years that had passed they had both always been very close but one night in specific completely changed the intensity of their relationship.
___
For months Y/n has been fighting the pain, trying to distract herself, training, learning to read, cooking...but on nights like that the reality of being pinned to the ground kept the tears flowing as she tried futilely to fall asleep. She didn't want anyone from the crew to see her like this.
When Marco was about to go up to the galley to take his watch he was told there was no need as Y/n was already taking his shift. He thought it was odd and the alpha's instinct begged him to go up and check what was in fact going on with his omega. He bites his tongue scolding himself for internally calling her 'his' again.
Good thing the alpha went up because when he got to the top he saw Y/n curled up in a ball crying. Probably the same instinct that made him call her his own earlier makes him act automatically in response to the omega's state. He sat beside her pulling her into his arms, purring and releasing comfort hormones to calm her down.
All Y/n can do is cling to Marco as she cries, the alpha is patient whispering words of comfort in her ear. Slowly her crying subsides and Marco takes a deep breath before asking what made her like this.
Was it worth lying? It was Marco, she hated the idea of lying to him. So Y/n tells him everything she has been going through, how hard it is, hard not being able to fly, being stuck to the ground and how all she wishes most is to be free again and be able to fly through the sea.
Marco's heart squeezes seeing his omega like this perhaps because more than anyone he understands the feeling, he knows what it is like to be free and to be able to fly and how he would never be able to live without it again. The pain she is feeling is unimaginable but still he is the one who can understand her best.
"Then let's fly"
Y/n wipes away the remnants of tears and looks at Marco uncomprehendingly
"How?"
"I'll take you"
Marco extends his hand which the omega grabs still hesitant but when he does Marco jumps transforming into the Phoenix. Y/n closes her eyes but when she opens them again the sight is incredible. Again she was flying, the wind, the stars, the clouds and the ground she had finally walked away from. All this while being enveloped in beautiful blue flames that chased away any cold she might feel tenderly warming her heart. Yet while the pain of not being able to fly was eased a new pain seemed to arise with the beautiful flames. Was it right to fall in love with someone who didn't belong to you?
___
Since that night the whole crew noticed the difference and how much closer they both were however no one was able to comment (at least not in front of them) not wanting to address the fact that they were not mates despite how in love the crew could tell they both were.
Even though he knew she could defend herself Marco started to be more protective of her. Whenever they visited any island he always accompanied her never leaving her side or that he at least made sure she went with someone he trusted. When Y/n was close to the rut he could tell even before the omega himself and during the whole rut he would not leave his door making sure that no pranksters were plotting to try anything against his omega.
Y/n on the other hand became much more affectionate towards her alpha taking every opportunity to cuddle him making sure to leave some of her scent on her alpha. Their nest became filled with purple and blue blankets and pillows where somewhere in between there were some shirts that had mysteriously disappeared from Marco's wardrobe.
One day they visited an island, Y/n went down with Sakura to visit the fair and Thatch went with the two omegas to protect them since both Marco and Izou had things to do on the ship.
They returned later and while most were distracted by what the three brought Marco's eyes were fixed on the fine coloured braid that Y/n wore. When Izou came to greet his companion he too seemed to notice the braid and Sakura explained.
"There was a beta at the fair making these braids, they call it terere and I wanted to make one, the colour reminds me of your lipstick. Y/n made one too."
At that point all eyes turned to Y/n and she could have sworn her heart was going to explode, especially when her eyes met Marco's. Why the hell did she have to explain the reason for the colour choice??? Even a child could tell how the colour of her terere resembled the colour of Marco's fenix and that happened to be exactly what happened.
"It is so beautiful! It looks like the colour of Marco's phoenix"
Momo's innocence says what everyone just thought. Luckily Toki intervened saving everyone from the tension of the moment
At that point the whole crew understood perhaps even better than themselves that they were both in an unofficial relationship.
___
After an intense battle against Roger's Pirates that lasted 3 days it was time to say goodbye to Momonosuke, Toki and Oden who decided to embark on a journey to reach the end of the grand line.
Biting her lip Y/n walks hesitantly knocking on the door of the room where Toki was getting ready to leave.
"Come in"
Y/n opens the door revealing a smiling Toki.
"Toki, I wanted to ask you a question"
"Sure"
"You have travelled for a long time across centuries right?"
Toki nods icentivating her to continue and Y/n takes a deep breath trying to control her nervousness.
"During that time did you ever encounter companions of different species?"
The older omega's eyes fill with understanding and empathy.
"I have never seen"
Y/n tries to hold back the tears. After all what did she expect?
"But I know of a book that might have the answers you're looking for"
Y/n's eyes widen and Toki smiles as she writes the name of the book on a piece of paper and hands it to him.
___
Since that first night they flew together, doing so had become a sort of tradition between the two of them. They both laughed as they landed in the galley and sat down while chatting animatedly.
Marco slowly stops paying attention to the conversation losing himself looking at Y/n, she seems to notice the alpha's silence and is surprised to turn around and find him much closer than expected. The omega can feel Marco's breath on her parted lips and slowly closes her eyes feeling him getting closer and closer. However just as his lips are about to brush hers he seems to wake the trance by abruptly getting up and ending the moment.
Without looking her in the eye again Marco whispers a "Good night" and quietly walks away leaving behind an extremely shaken Y/n. As much as it hurt her and as much as he might have hurt her Marco was glad he hadn't kissed her. He loved her, he loved her never than he ever thought possible as well as he knew she loved him too and that was why he couldn't do it.
To love is to care. He would not hurt her by starting something that would one day end, one day when she found the one who was born to love her. Not Marco, someone else, someone of her kind, someone who would be her alpha and who could heal her.
He knows he made the right decision, one day they will both find their mates. But why did the thought of having an omega that didn't Y/n make Marco's alpha want to cry? Why did the right decision hurt so much?

Yara & Ace plz
💖
tysm for the prompt!! Apologies that it took awhile to complete, but here you go!! Hope you enjoy! <3
it's, uhh... slightly nsfw-ish?? mostly implied than anything
💖 rough kiss / hot and heavy / making out
It was over.
The enemy’s ship lay in ruins, bits of wood and canvas floating dead in the water; the remnants of the captured crew escorted onto lifeboats with their hands resting on their heads. From the sullen looks on their faces, they had learned their lesson about attempting to encroach on the Whitebeard Pirates’ territory.
Yara’s fingers dug into the rope ladder as she climbed up the side of the Moby Dick, anxiety twisting in her stomach.
“Yara, go!!”
“What are you doing?!” she shouted, panic laced in her voice as Ace leapt in between her and the enemy captain. “We need to get back to the ship and regroup!”
“I’ll cover your escape!” he insisted, flames leaping off his skin.
“Ace, wait--”
“Flame Fence!!”
A massive wall of fire shot up between them. Ace turned his head, gazing back at her between the flickering flames. “Go, love. I’ve got this.”
She pulled herself up onto the main deck, heart thudding in her chest. All she’d seen since leaving the island that had served as the battleground was a trail of smoke; neither hide nor hair remaining of Ace or his opponent. He was incredibly strong; she never doubted that for a second. Whitebeard hadn’t made him Second Division Commander while barely out of his rookie year for no reason. Yet still…
Her anxiousness only grew as she scanned around the deck. The enemy pirates were all gathered in the open space in front of Whitebeard’s chair. As per Whitebeard’s orders, their hands weren’t bound, but they were under the careful surveillance of Marco and Jozu. They seemed to know it too; grumbling to themselves but keeping their heads down.
Yara used her Devil Fruit powers to pass through the crowd of people gathered on the deck, drifting through their bodies with ease. Most of the Whitebeard Pirates didn’t bother looking over at her, both familiar with her abilities and too tired to care. She continued to glance around, trying to keep her pulse from racing out of control in her worry.
Then she saw it. A flash of orange, just beside the main mast. Her heart leapt, recognizing the unmistakable hat. “Ace!!”
“Hm?” His head whipped over in her direction at the sound of his name. He immediately perked up, a wide grin stretching across his freckled cheeks. “Yara!!”
Scrambling to his feet, he bolted towards her, pushing aside anyone in his path. Yara squeaked as Ace lifted her up with a laugh and twirled her around, keeping his arms firmly locked around her. As her feet hit the ground once more, he went in for the kiss, but she placed a hand over his lips.
“Why didn’t you run?” she whispered.
Ace blinked, surprised at first, but then he reached for her hand with a smile. “Because in that moment, you were behind me, sweetheart. Running would’ve put you in danger, and you know I could never do that.”
Yara swallowed, trying to suppress the hot lump that rose in her throat. “You could have died, Ace.”
His eyes widened, noticing her pained expression. “Hey, hey…” he murmured, bringing her hand to his lips. “It’s okay. I’m here, baby. I’m here.” He kissed her knuckles, then her wrist, lips pressing against her racing pulse. “Nothing’s going to happen to me, I promise.”
She collapsed into his arms, resting her cheek on his shoulder. “You really need to stop scaring me like that. One of these days, you’re going to run into an opponent you won’t be so lucky against.”
“...Heh. Can’t help it if I feel like luck’s on my side.” He grinned. “After all, I managed to get with you, didn’t I?”
“Idiot,” she mumbled, pressing a kiss to the crook of his neck. “Those aren’t the same things at all.”
Chuckling, he slid a finger under her chin, lifting her head up. Without a moment’s further hesitation, he leaned in, meeting her lips with a contented hum. Yara’s eyes fluttered shut, feeling his lips part ever so slightly, his tongue easing its way into her mouth.
“Mm.” Ace pulled away, breaking the kiss with a faint pop! “Bedroom?”
She nodded, taking his hand and allowing him to lead her towards the division commanders’ quarters.
They were back on each other as soon as he kicked the door shut, pants and breathy moans filling the small space. Her arms were around his shoulders, his hands planted firmly on her hips. Ace took the lead, carefully moving her towards the queen-sized bed that sat in the corner of the room. Yara allowed herself to collapse onto it, resting her head on a pillow.
There was a feral glint in Ace’s dark brown eyes as he removed his hat, placing it to hang off the bedpost before crawling on top of her, his arms caging her beneath him. He nudged Yara’s legs further apart with his knee, pressing himself closer to her, fingers tangling in her hair as he cupped the side of her face. Their lips met in a series of flurried actions, desperate to drink each other in. Panting, he pulled away briefly before trailing kisses from her chin down her throat.
A pleasured gasp left Yara’s lips as he nipped at the sensitive spot on the crook of her neck. Her fingernails dug into his back, legs wrapping tightly around him. Ace’s hips bucked towards her, his desire for her evident as he recaptured her mouth with his. Her hands found their way to his hair, burying her fingers in his raven locks, massaging his scalp. His teeth gently tugged at her bottom lip, and she let out a moan in response.
“Careful, sweetheart,” he murmured, breath hot against her face. “You keep making sounds like that and I won’t be able to hold back.”
The corners of her lips twitched into a smirk as she met his gaze with a determined one of her own. “And if I don’t want you to?”
“I’ll devour you.”
“Then devour me, Portgas.”
A low noise rumbled from Ace’s throat, almost like a growl. His pupils had dilated as he pushed the hem of her dress up past her waist before diving back at her lips like a man starved. One hand trailed along her thigh, a low heat from his Devil Fruit powers emanating off of it.
“Ah!” Yara gasped, her shoulder blades digging into the sheets as she arched her back, a jolt of pleasure shooting through her at the feeling of his warm fingers caressing her so tenderly.
“You like that, huh, Hellcat?” Ace breathed, coaxing her through her ecstasy. “My pretty girl. My pretty, pretty girl. ‘M so lucky.”
A high-pitched whine escaped Yara as heat pooled in her stomach. “Need you, Ace! Need--”
Knock knock!
“Hey, Ace! Yara!” Thatch called out from the other side of the door. “Pops wants you both on deck, so put your clothes back on.”
Ace let out a groan. “Oh, gimme a break.”
Yara couldn’t help but chuckle as Ace pushed himself off of her, grumbling something about burning a hole straight through the Fourth Division Commander’s favourite pair of pants next time he was on laundry duty. She shifted around, pulling her dress back over her hips as she rose to a seated position. Lifting Ace’s hat from the bedpost, she placed it onto his head. “There you are, Commander Ace. All fit for duty.”
As their eyes met, his annoyance at Thatch seemed to melt away. “Thanks. Now c’mon. You know I can’t do it without my brilliant, sexy Vice-Commander by my side.”
He offered her a hand, and she slid off the bed.
“Hey.” Ace pulled her into his arms. His fingers brushed under her chin, a warm smile lingering on his freckled face. “I love you. I mean it, Yara.”
“I know,” she replied as she draped her arms over his shoulders, leaning up to kiss the tip of his nose.
“We’ll continue this later?”
“Of course.”

@thctched said :
He's a long way from home--from the North Blue, definitely, but also from the Grandline for sure--in his quest to find the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates while avoiding other pirates and Marines alike. He was supposed to be dead, after all, but as he came ashore on the monstrous black bike calming spewing what appeared to be dark flames from the exhausts which propelled the bike, he paused at the welcoming party that greeted him. Samurai--and several of them, in fact. Oh dear. Disembarking, the few minutes that Thatch spent talking with them was fruitless, and though the country was apparently closed off to everyone, he kept his hood upon his head, upper half of his face completely concealed. Once he left here, it would have to stay that way, so it made no sense to reveal himself at this point, anyway. When his connection to his long-time friend was called into question, even that was met with suspicion, and well, it just wasn't turning out into a good situation ... especially with his own situation being hard to explain. If only Izo could come--if only they'd call him--maybe things would ... smooth out ... ? / IZO!! /o/

♞ 𓏬 How long had it been since he was able to relax in such a manner? Ever since he was young he had been jumping from one adventure to the next. Accidentally setting sail with the Whitebeard pirates was the greatest one. Hectic constantly but full of fun. Up until the end, and oh how he wished it didn't end. His eyes shifted upwards at the calm blue sky, before closing. Taking in the peaceful sounds around him. The man still felt content with this, following what was his fate in a big circle. At least with Wano being save it set his heart at ease.
He would have fallen asleep where he sat if the silence wasn't interrupted. A couple men coming up to his spot on the porch, clearly concerned. Whispers from them of a outsider claiming to know him. Izo understood their suspicion, after all who would be asking for a supposed dead man?
The man was quick to get ready― just needed to grab his guns. Then he followed the others to stranger. It all took one glance to answer his question. Of course it would be another dead man searching for him.

❝Thatch!!❞ Even with the hood drawn up, even with it being a couple of years, the recognition was instant. the cautious face pace was abandoned as he ran forward, arms outreached to grab the other into a tight embrace.

This is kind of a sad one, but can we have luffy visiting his grandpa and brother’s graves to tell them about his engagement? Soul eater au
Luffy hates sad things so he and Usopp throw their engagement party right near where Whitebeard and Ace are buried so they can be part of it in a way. The party is great, Luffy eats lots of food, Usopp entrances everyone with his stories, and then when night falls people just sleep on the ground wherever, there's a huge bonfire so it's not cold or anything.
But once most everyone is sleeping, Luffy quietly wakes up Usopp and tells him he needs him for something.
They sneak away from the sleepy remnants of their banquet, Luffy walks slowly, holding Usopp's hand and leading him away and up to the cliff with two graves.
Luffy sits down, tugs Usopp's arm just slightly - a request - and Usopp sits beside him.
Luffy leans fully into Usopp for a few seconds before he says a word.
"Hey Ace, Grampa. You've met Usopp before, yeah?" He asks the empty air. "Well, he's family now. Our family. He's gonna be my husband." He whispered, reverant at the word.
"Grampa liked Usopp, wanted Usopp to be one of his sons like all the rest." Luffy said. "I beat you to him, Grampa. Gramps did, too. Bet you've never had a grandson-in-law before, though." He teased, because of course he would brag about Usopp to everyone.
Usopp wrapped an arm around Luffy's shoulder, and Luffy sighed in content.
"Ace didn't really understand how amazing Usopp is, how lucky I am, but that's fine. Ace didn't know why he made me lucky either. But you liked him, you liked all my crew. You didn't need to understand Usopp, he's complicated and you were never that bright." He paused for a second, waiting for a punch on the head and a 'you're the last person that gets to say that', but the world is quiet.
"I remember when you used to say you hated when I cried. That no one would love a crybaby like me." He said, and Usopp noticed the silent tears streaming down his face. "Well, I've got a fiance and I'm still that weak little crybaby, so Hah." He muttered.
Usopp rubbed circles into Luffy's shoulder with his thumb, and stared at the metal nameplates.
"You know," He blurted, before quieting down. "Uhm, you don't have to worry. I promised Luffy but I'll promise you two as well." He imagined if it was actually Ace and Whitebeard sitting there in the grass with them. "I love Luffy, more than anything, than everything. I'll keep loving him for as long as I live, so I promise I'll fight with him until the fighting is over, and I'll live with him until he kicks me out himself." He got a pinch on the cheek for that, and he smiled. "I'll love him even if he becomes a crybaby, because he's still the strongest person I know."
His smile turned to a smirk then. "I won't ask permission, though. Nobody's gonna stop me from marrying Luffy, not even you two."
Luffy snorted, chuckling into his shoulder, turning his arms to rubber bands to wrap around Usopp three times over.
Yeah, he loved this man.
