The "Mary, Queen of Scots" Casket from Paris, France dated to the Late 15th Century on display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Scotland
This fine silver-gilt casket is believed to have belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots of the Stuart royal family but has the crest of the Duke's of Hamilton engraved upon it. Made in Paris, it is a rare example of French late medieval/early renaissance silver work. This one in particular is alleged to have hold the papers and letters of Mary. Papers that were used to implicate her in the murder of her second husband Lord Darnley as well as an illicit relationship with Lord Bothwell.

Nell Gwyn, mistress of Charles II, in virginial white handling some sausages.
Charles II was known for his saucy mistresses and the way he paraded them throughout court. His sex life was no secret, and sharp contrast to the Puritan values of the previous decades in England. This portrait, amongst others, is an example of how Charles treated his mistresses as important figures in the court, and Stuart court attitudes towards sex.

I think about this stuff a lot because I am a huge dork; fellow huge dorks, what do you think?
(I did a post some years ago going over some of the implications of each of these almost-kings reaching the throne.)

Dear @acrossthewavesoftime sent me a photo of this plate.
Willem looks so pissed, I couldn't resist turning it into this:
Mary: "And then, we're going on a lovely holiday to Britanny... ♥️"
Willem: "Those bloody French..."
