travis was the rebound, and this was proved when he went to the all star and wa slike “i hAVE to meet nico cause nolan loves him” like word. i would also seek out the ex that devastated the loml. who wouldn’t? gotta understand the enigma
No but seriously… when your new current boyfriend heads you up about there ex… and then you end up falling in love with them too??? Like wow…
*Here’s a clip of TK at the Allstar game getting asked if there was anyone in particular he’d want to know/meet.*
When he said ”I heard Nico was buddies with Patrick” really just translated to “Yeah Nolan actually spent a good hour telling me how they both were deeply in love with one another.”

headcanon, demisexuality.
since asexuality in itself is a spectrum, this is nina's experience with being demisexual.
she doesn't find sex all that appealing unless she has what she'd consider an emotional connection with the other person. it's something that she enjoys a lot more when she feels close to them. it could be because it leads to being in a vulnerable state and her trust isn't easily given. whatever the case is, she's found she enjoys it more and more often, and wants it to last longer when it's with someone she feels connected to. that doesn't necessarily mean that she's in love with them, but more that she's had time to develop a connection and attraction to them beyond than physical or aesthetic appeal. though the more in love with someone she is, the more she craves that physical connection with them.

So I’ve been listening to Ruin all day in honor of the anniversary (as is right and good) and realized something. Today isn’t just Halloween and the Ruin-iversary... It’s also the last day Spotify will collect data from for this year’s Wrapped.
I just love the idea that there’s a good amount of people who will have a sudden significant bump in number of plays for Ruin right at the end of the Spotify year. It has the same energy as a bunch of college kids cramming for tomorrow’s exam, somehow, and I find it delightful.

always interesting to read a fic with a Popular Trope x2 and remember that those tropes absolutely do not do it for you and that’s why the canon character with that problem doesn’t do it for you.

I wonder if Athena finally putting to bed the case that inspired her towards a career pursuing justice will now push her onto the path for her overall endgame which, like her husband, is retirement.
Like how last season we had Bobby's second chance where he saved his daughter from the fire at the call center (putting to rest his regret at never being able to save his family from that fire back in Michigan), and now we have Athena wrapping up that last loose end that kept her in a sort of stasis, the questions they'll both be asking is: what next.
Bobby is very clearly thinking about his replacement, establishing an arc for Buck’s endgame I already laid out in an earlier post about Buck where he'll only become captain at the series finale. We keep seeing all of Bathena's special moments be put off due to tragedy and emergencies. We've also seen how the job (Athena's) has put pressure on her familial relations. I can definitely see Athena retiring at the end of this season to pursue another career that still has her pursuing justice, like maybe something in politics, maybe she goes to law school, or maybe starts a charitable organization dedicated to helping victims and families of crimes like that of Tanya (though just like at the end maybe she has to put the past behind her like Joanne is doing).
I wouldn't be against them retiring - no two people on this show deserve it more. However the show will definitely end when they do, however if they stagger it I can see it lasting for another season (Athena in six, Bobby in seven). Also, unlike all the other times it's been suggested Athena retire, the fact that it is HER decision will show this is the final conversation about it. Once Athena sets her mind to something, it gets done.
I think having a season of her then figuring out what's next for Athena will be good, although that will change the makeup of the show as we won't have a police officer character to be our police pov (not that it's necessary but those are structural parts of the show that carry into the spin-off with Carlos). 9-1-1 isn't a stranger to introducing new characters. I can see maybe Athena getting a new partner and having them bond with the 118 somehow (maybe pair them up with Lucy and Ravi).
I do think we are heading into the final arcs for all our main cast. Season 7 is when the contracts are up. Yes, this show could probably last past that but it would be a disservice to the story being told. Bathena's heading towards retirement. Hen is heading towards a doctor career. Buck and Eddie are figuring themselves out and how to be a family, which both of them have wanted (the concept of family and having people who choose them). The only people who have completed their journey, honestly, are Chim and Maddie. They're back together. Their arc ends with marriage which we are all betting happens in the s6 finale. Whatever they got planned for s7 it might be career-focused or more family-planning, or both.
Tl;dr tonight's episode not only put to rest a monstrous crime (and the execution of how the audience was told was spectacular), but also put to rest a piece of Athena that we can argue bookended a moment last season with her husband. This episode was key in helping guide Athena towards her endgame of retirement as all the major players in the show are now entering the beginnings of their final storylines as next year s7 will most likely be the last season

Now that Sherlock Holmes is completely within the public domain... Any plans?
Aaahaha i see where you are going but no comic plans. Too much of my time is dedicated to my own work. I do have a few miscellaneous outlines for little page-long-ish bit pieces of Holmes being a good pal and very asexual, as is my prerogative, l but i gotta focus on other things(Wake mostly).
I am aiming to finally nail down how I draw Holmes and Watson for fun though. I’m following along with the Daily Dracula style email event “Letters from Doctor Watson” and i want to draw SO MANY HOLMESES… but we’ll see!

"I secured a direct hit on an enemy encampment, saw bodies or parts of bodies go up in the air, and heard the desperate yelling of the wounded or the runaways. I had to confess to myself that it was one of the happiest moments of my life." — Henry deMan, British Expeditionary Force, First World War
Tumblr media
Something that I’m particularly interested in exploring with Jakob, especially in his Cyberpunk verse (given the near-constant exposure to violence that lower-class residents of Night City experience on a day-to-day basis) is the sensation of relief that high-adrenaline situations can offer to many combat veterans, especially those with severe PTSD who lack access to proper mental healthcare.
There is decades worth of research conducted by entities like the Department of Veterans Affairs that have noted the penchant combat veterans have towards potentially fatal thrill-seeking. Prolonged exposure to stress and adrenaline during deployments can essentially “rewire” the brain, normalizing high levels of stress brought on by consistent combat trauma in order to feel as if they are functioning normally due to the life-and-death circumstances that once dictated their existence:
“You see people nowadays that are hooked on drugs, heroin, cocaine, whatever the case may be. The biggest high you can ever get is a natural adrenaline rush. Somebody trying to kill you. There’s nothing that will ever come to that rush.” ( x )
This often splits, depending on the veteran. There are those whose exposure to combat has made them adverse to violence or high-stress situations. Based upon what we see of Jakob in-game, he seems to be the opposite — a man who revels in violence and who functions best in moments that present fatal levels of danger, perhaps best explained by First World War veteran Daniel Sweeney when he wrote to his fiance, “I was really sorry I did it, but God knows I could not help myself.” ( x )
In the canon of Far Cry 5, we know that Jakob’s survivability is tested with a fellow airborne comrade by the name of Miller, who he is stranded in the desert with during deployment. We know that he ultimately kills his friend and eats his corpse in order to survive the journey back to an allied base, an incident which he refers to as an “OPPORTUNITY” to the player character during one of his cutscenes. He embraces the brutality of death and the role that it serves to bolster the camaraderie and fighting spirit of his Chosen, and the demoralizing effect that such carnage has on the civilian population of Hope County.
We know that he is suffering not only from deteriorating physical health (as evidenced by his weakened, raspy tone in certain audio files from the game, where his breathing is deep and heavily labored, and he coughs frequently). We know that he is suffering mentally and indulging in the same addictions mentioned earlier, as evidenced by the copious amounts of liquor and beer bottles you find in his room in some of the in-game files. On the surface he embraces death as a tool to prove his merit in a world dominated by the powerful, and as an opportunity for survival, but struggles with the mental ramifications of it.
How does this translate into his Cyberpunk verse?
He adapts far better to Night City than he ever did to civilian life in his more “mundane” canon setting.
Jakob is surrounded by near-constant violence — especially as a disenfranchised and disillusioned veteran from the lowest rungs of society who has been cast away by the same government that recruited and exploited him, he lacks access to what little social tools are available to help individuals like him reintegrate into society. This causes him to gravitate to areas and occupations within the city that will offer him some manner of an “adrenaline fix” — it also leaves him feeling remarkably frustrated with the faulty power structures that exist within the country, and incredibly susceptible to the recruitment tactics of groups like the 6th Street gang, which promise a sense of purpose and community for those on the fringes of a society dominated by the apathetic interests of corporate and government entities.
It also exacerbates his sense of suicidal ideation and makes him especially prone to recklessness and self harm. Where his canon setting offers a copious amount of liquor to distract from these feelings, the world of Cyberpunk offers other vices for him to indulge in. This is particularly true of Extreme Braindances, specifically in the flavor of your initial introduction to them in “The Information” mission in Cyberpunk 2077. Plugging into an immersive simulation that allows him to experience the same adrenaline rush of kill-or-be-killed wartime combat, he is able to microdose on the same death and hypervigilance that he learned to function with as an adult.

headcanon, physical touch.
nina isn't a naturally physically affectionate person. she's not extremely touch averse, but she leans in that direction. it takes a lot of mindful effort to show that affection to someone who needs it. one of her daughters is the type to need that physical reassurance, and it was an adjustment for nina to feel comfortable and to initiate that when she feels leighton needs that.
physical touch is usually something purposeful in two ways for her. a) it's part of her job. although she's on the more administrative side regarding her fashion company, she does know how to tailor, do fittings, etc. and she enjoys that hands on aspect of the job. so she has no issue touching anyone in that way since it's literally her conducting her job. b) whenever she does touch someone, like moving a hair out of the way, touching their shoulder, any physical action is often purposeful / deliberate. like yeah that's the point of touching someone but i mean like... it's not usually done on instinct, it's for a reaction or to convey a message.
now, more mindless touching like... just touching you do in the company of someone you love, she's always the less touchy feely type. you have to initiate it most of the time and she's chill with it, but it's not often she initiates. but, it's something she can learn to do and grows more comfortable to initiate over time. the closer you are, the more welcoming she is for you to be in her personal space and to touch her freely.
she's the most touch-averse around people she does not trust or hate. she will give you one warning, and one warning only.

so many things i have wanted and still want to do with my life, i was leading up to and learning for these things. and so many of them are just. not really physically possible anymore. at least right now. (ofc at this point the way things are angling it seems unlikely things will really ever be like they were) i just wish i could engage with things i used to love and still love without it making me so fucking depressed.
