I wish I could write really short stories. I want to write flash so so bad. Do you know how many publications there are out there that pay incredibly good money but only publish flash? Like at least five, off the top of my head, and that's just SFF. Unfortunately I think the shortest story I've ever written came in just under 2000 words.

Pure white lilies once untouched by scare and sin

Now bathe in blood and are soaked from within

Their fragile petals have become bruised and worn 

Marking the place where innocence has been trampled and torn

Sweet laughter no longer lingers here 

Just the looming shadows that speak of fear 

The scarlet stains, an unmoving mark 

Forever reminding of the chains that kept them bound in the dark 

The lilies scream their silent cries 

Of dreams undone beneath lightless skies 

Each drop of red, a memory slain

Once soft as dawn, their beauty has bled

But neither are they allowed to rest amongst those forgotten or dead

Whilst watching the promise of innocence being swept away like a falling leaf

Darkness still surrounds yet they stand, though bent and torn 

Eternally mourning the life that could have once been born

I've found that the problem with having ADHD and being a writer isn't struggling to write--sure I have ups and downs, and probably more writer's block than many other writers, but I have some useful methods to get around all that.

No, the problem is that I crave the rewarding feeling I get when I send my stories off to publications and move the entry to a different part of my spreadsheet, and it's almost impossible to remind myself that actually I have a carefully considered plan about which stories I'm sending out when and I can't just spam this story out to every single place as soon as I finish it I'm hitting the high-paying non-sim-sub markets first, and

as gen ai gets better and more awful for the environment and more awful for artists i think it's interesting how people are changing their art to be more story-focused and personal. obviously nobody should have to change ANYTHING about their art because of ai but it is something im noticing more

Locked myself in the paper writing dungeon for the past 5 hours or so(well and the entire academic dungeon for the past day as a whole) and now I am back out in the sunlight !!!!

I'm dying though, I was joking to my friend earlier about how I was def gonna end up submitting the final paper for our class at some absurd time. So he threw out a very specific arbitrary time, and guys. Guess what. Guess what time I submitted the paper, completely by accident. Guess what time, guys.
