EVERY CORNER OF THIS HOUSE IS HAUNTED. (2)

Synopsis ! Jake had taken you as his own after Tsu'tey's passing, leaving no one to care for you. Things had been good before your relationship with him had blurred along growing of age. You and him fought all the time; argued each other's ear off and tonight was no different-- except words have been said, severing the already damaged bond. Content & warning Jake sully x Daughter!Reader, Sully kids x Sister!Reader Neytiri x Daughter!Reader. (wc: 5264)

You swung your legs over the edge, feet ghosting just above the calm lake that surrounded this part of the forest. It was a bit far from the village, but you felt more at ease knowing that you wouldnât be found easily. This was your own place and ironically enough, a spot you and Jake had found years ago. You could see the familiar marks left from the arrows you had shot, deeply engraved in some of the trunks.Â
One drawing had caught your eye. From one of the trees, a bit taller than the rest; an image of you and your father. It was silly, clearly etched by the hands of a kid no older than six. The lines were harsh as the wood itself was tough, but it was thereâ almost mockingly. You scoffed, mindlessly grabbing a pebble and flinging it right on the center.Â
You have barely moved since you arrived here; detached yourself the moment you had sat near the jagged rocks. It was a habit you presumed you got from Jake. The longer you stayed, the more you succumbed to your ever-bleeding woundsâ there was just something so tragic about being an eldest daughter.  Â
You werenât all bite, despite the constant snarl on your lips. You weren't so egotistical as to think that you couldn't possibly be wrong, but tonight, tonight you knew damn well Jake was to blame.Â
âIs it because Iâm not your daughter?âÂ
Your own voice had rang through your mind. You wince in response, cringing internally. That could very well be the caseâ you weren't part of their family. You canât help but think that they may have done it out of pity.Â
But Kiri wasnât exactly their own either. In fact, you and Kiri werenât at all opposites at birth.
While you came from Tsuâtey, she was from Grace; both of you from separate blood and brought together by one. However you werenât exactly close to Eywa or have the skills she possessed. Kiri was undeniably specialâ spiritual and awfully attuned. Heck, she had managed to tame her own ikran simply by asking it to be her friend.Â
Still, there was no reason for Jake to treat you differently. You were jealousâ of course you are. If heâs able to be as gentle as he is with your baby sister, why couldnât he with you? It was a sickening thought, to think that he acts so rigid and unrelenting around you while he looked at her like she had hanged every star in the night sky. Sure Kiri was special, but you were at least his daughter too. Canât he spare you even just a second of a loving glance?
With Kiri, he listens intentlyâ looks at her with such tenderness as he takes in her every word. It was the same gaze he wore whenever we visited the sky-people lab; Jake would stare a bit too long at Grace, expression somewhere along the line of reminiscing. Whenever he had moments like these, his eyes would hold some sort of longingâ a promise. Perhaps it was because Grace meant the world to himâ literally. She taught him everything about Pandora, showed him the way of the Naâvi; gave him another shot at living.Â
Kiri was exactly like her mother; wise and cunning. Jake probably sees Grace in her very image. Â
Youâd think this would be the embodiment of every father with their daughters; kind and vulnerable, but you would argue otherwise. When he looked at you, it was more of regretâ grief prolonging. It was a gaze so ugly and unwanted; a weight youâre not supposed to carry.Â
Because youâre exactly like Tsuâtey and Jake sees him in yourself.Â
It was no secret that Jake was softer when it came to Tuk and Kiri. While you are relieved that it had been that way, you can never pray for them to experience the struggles you are burdened withâ it tugged on your heartstrings that you would never feel the warmer side of your father; will never know how it feels to be babied nor to be held gently.Â
You were her daughter too so you didnât understand. What made you any different from them that you had to pretend his love was hidden beneath his icy glares and dismissive grunts? These were emotions nonethelessâ however odd or minuscule they may have been. You thought that maybe, just maybe, thereâd be a crack to this exterior. Maybe if you tried harder, Jake would soften up to you too.Â
But that wasnât the case because he never did. You had picked apart pieces of yourself that you thought werenât pleasingâ did better despite your age. You were young and only yearned for your fatherâs approval.Â
( âYouâre not doing it right. Again.âÂ
As you stretched your already sore arms for the nth time, ready to take aim, his hands tug on your stanceâ a bit harsher than intended. Light continued to glare down on your figure as you tirelessly corrected your posture again. Your ears pricked up at the sound of your siblingâs laughter, coming to you from afar. You stole a glance at them as they continued to play and enjoy themselves by the water, their childish exuberance highlighted by their splashing around in the shallow waves.
âCanât I take a break?â You whined, dropping your stiff shoulders. Hearing them have fun made you want to jump in as well.Â
âI didnât let you talk my ear off just to give up. Come on, you promised me a bullseye today, baby girl.â He said, eyebrows furrowing a bit. You look down to your feet, a bit embarrassed. You didnât want him to not take you seriouslyâ you fear that if you let him down now, he wouldnât let you do anything again. âJust one hit and Iâll let you offââ
His head turns sharply towards Kiri as she calls out for Jake, asking him to join them in their game. He can't help but to let out a small chuckle as he yells back a short response of âin a minute.â
âAgain, come on.â His hands move quickly and firmly grasp your arms, helping you back to the same position before. âIâll be watching, promise.â With a light tap on your shoulder, he rushes off, chasing after your siblings towards the water.
The quicker you got it done, the sooner you would be able to play. You pulled on the string again and released a heavy sigh before releasing the arrow. After several tries of firing shots that missed their mark, you finally managed to hit dead center with one shot. Your eyes widen in surprise, disbelief crossing your face before you jump excitedly, âDid you see that, dad? Did youââ
Your yell was instantly drowned out by Lo'ak's hearty laugh. You couldn't help but feel deflated as you watched your father lift him up onto his shoulders while the others trailed behind them in a fit of giggles. You run towards them, bow in hand.Â
âYou werenât watchingââ You tried to pull his hand in your direction, gesturing towards the arrow that was still firmly embedded into the red ring you had created on the trunk of the tree.
"Ah, darn, I missed it?" He said between breathy chuckles as Kiri tried to tug on his tail from behind, barely taking note of your work. "Why don't you do it again? This time I'll be sure to pay attention."
âBut I want to play with you now.âÂ
âDadâ Neteyam caught something! Itâs huge, come look!â Jake slowly lowers Lo'ak from his shoulders, letting them pull him towards where Neteyam stood. The children squealed at the sight of the fish (with Kiri letting out a few disgusted gags), but Jake reveled in pride. âYeah, Neteyam, the mighty fisherman!â
You stayed still on the shore watching themâ watching him. It was so easy to lose your fatherâs attention despite your best efforts. You retreated back to your spot, eyes glaring at the arrow sticking out from the tree. If a single bullseye wasnât enough to impress Jake, then youâd just have to perfect your aim. Your hits will never miss again and youâll make him proud.)Â
You were clueless. If only you knew that there was no satisfying your father, you wouldâve spent the days tirelessly training to play insteadâ to be an actual kid without having the worries of a grown adult.Â
You could leave. At the thought of it, your head swiveled towards the unfamiliar path that would take you away from the clanâ away from everything you know. You could leave and never come back; take your fatherâs name and build your own person. There was this selfish thought pricking at the back of your brain that once they noticed your absence, everyone would look for you and even feel sorry for what they put you through; that Jake would be sorry to lose you.Â
You wonder what kind of reputation you'd leave for him when everyone realizes you had run away, never to come back. But it was unfairâ your mother would be devastated. Neytiri had already gone through enough, were you worth another heartbreak? She didnât deserve that.Â
Suppose you could only dream that Jake would put on an effort for a search partyâ for him to grow hopeless and regretful while searching for you. You could only dream that heâd run towards you, arms wide open. âYou scared me, sweetheart. I thought I lost you. Iâm sorry, dadâs sorry.âÂ
But youâve been away for hours and no one has reached out yet. They probably assumed that you only needed some time and space to clear your head, not seeing any cause for alarm. The only thing that waited for you back home was a hell of a scolding and a weekâs punishment of tending the ikrans. Sighing, you decided to just head back. Â

Your steps are carefulâ silent, as you near your hut again. You expected for the worst. Neytiri could have told Jake to stay guard outside until you finally decided to come home for all you know, but you werenât ready for another heated conversation with him just yet. So as you make your way back, you stick your neck out behind the bushes, trying to make out of the surroundings.Â
Surprisingly, it wasnât Jake that was waiting outside. It was Kiri. Her figure glows underneath the starry night and it was hard not to be discouraged, but you suppose it was better than having to deal with your father again.Â
"Kiri?" You called out in a low voice, and instantly her head snapped up. She quickly jumps to her feet upon seeing your arrival, heart racing as she rushes towards you. Without hesitation, she wraps her arms tightly around you in a hug. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath to try and steady herself. âOh great mother, thank you.â
You tentatively put your arms around her in response, hands patting the top of her head. âThis isnât the first time I ran from home,â Your voice is softâ unsure.Â
Feeling your hesitance, she slowly withdraws from you. âBut itâs the first time sempul has said something so..â She stops herself mid-sentence, shaking her head as if to clear away her thoughts. âI worry youâd finally want to leave.âÂ
You stared at her, feeling your insides soften. You could never get angry at Kiri, no matter the situation. You couldnât just leave. She was your sister still and no one would ever understand you like she does. No one will ever grow you another sibling. As much as you hated yourself, you were meant to watch as she thrives. Â
Siblings were such a weird concept; it was hard for you to wrap your head around it. Despite the fact that you could hate them with every fibre of your being, youâd still love them unconditionally and protectively; despise them but burn down the whole universe for their safety. It made no sense to be so full of such strong, conflicting emotions all at once, but she was your sister and that was enough explanation.
âStupid eywa-powers.â You joke as you take your index finger, lightly pressing it against her forehead. She playfully swats your hand away with a laugh, eyes crinkling.
She silently murmurs, âNot stupidâ to herself, a small laugh escaping her lips.
You two slowly sat on your wicker chairs in front of the fire. The seat creaked as you made yourself comfortable. Jake was real handy with his hands back thenâ made all sorts of things for everyone. Wooden Toruks, comfortable hammocks, and each one a special chair. Everyoneâs name was etched on the back and although it was a bit smaller now, considering it was made for when you were toddlers, no one had grown out of sitting on it.Â
You smiled at the memory. It was like tradition for the Sully familyâ a silly one, but loved nonetheless. He first made you the wicker chair and although it was rather flimsy, you argued that Neteyam should have one as well when he came around.Â
It was so conflictingâ to be able to remember your father was mean, despite being kind, then to know him as kind, despite being mean. You fear Jake could be every word you think of but the word father.Â
âRemember that time when we played hide-and-seek and we all thought Loâak cheated by hiding back at home only to find out we left him at the forest?â Kiri spoke, eyes fixated at the flames.Â
You chuckled, âYeah, even dad was in on itâ told us not to tell mom that we left him.â
âOhâ and that one time they left us to Moâat to have their little dates and came home to see grandma knocked out and her hut a mess?â
You laughed, rather loudly this time. You remembered the memory like it was yesterdayâ little Neteyam wrapped from head to toe in bandages as you two tried to play healers; pastes and herbs were scattered everywhere while Loâak was playing to his own devices happily (something about kid Loâak and wanting to play alone most of the time). âLoâak and his lisp trying to explain why he was covered in warrior paint all over his body.â
âKi-ti told me to do it!â Kiri squeaked out in her best impression of Loâak, before both of you burst into smothered laughter careful not to wake anyone up. After taking a few moments to catch your breath, the area was silent once more. There was no sound other than the crackle of the fire, its flame illuminating the darkness in the vicinity.Â
âIâm trying to see the situation in both perspectives,â She starts once the quietness grows unbearable. You averted your gaze, not wanting to talk it out with her.
âI really donât wanna talk about it, Kiri.â You threw your head back, your eyes burning a hole into the night sky.
âI just donât want it to explode like what happened a while ago again.âÂ
You kiss your teeth and let out an exasperated sigh, tongue clicking as you exhale. Deep down you knew that there was no getting out of this situation, so you may as well hear what they had to say. âFine. Whatâs your diagnosis, doc?âÂ
The flap of the hut's entrance is suddenly thrown back, revealing a rather disoriented looking Lo'ak stumbling out. It's clear he had just been stirred from his slumber. âYou two arenât as quiet as you think you are.â He said, his voice low. He made his way over to Kiri and sat down beside her with an audible yawn. âWhat is it this time?â
âEywa tells me of your troubles,â Kiri starts, ignoring Loâak. âFather isnât at all the greatest, I know, but heâs tryingâ His choices aren't really the best, but itâs what he knows. If you think about it, he was just as young once and you donât exactly become a father twice.âÂ
âWhat are you saying?âÂ
âSheâs sayingâ cut him some slack, maybe?â Lo'ak breaks the stillness with an unexpected remark, his voice quite loud in comparison to Kiri's careful words. His comment catches you off guard and you shift your position uncomfortably on your seat.
âBrother, you really have to stop going out with Spider. You and your lingo is getting harder and harder to discern.â Kiri jabs him from the side, âWhat he means to say isâ maybe you should try being the bigger person instead?â
You let out a deep breath through your nostrils, not enjoying the direction of the conversation. Your brow crinkles in concentration as you try to make sense of why the discussion was taking this turn. You had no desire to pick apart the problem any further and yet, here you wereâ perhaps Neytiri told them to talk some sense to you? To quiet down for the sake of your old man?
Already sensing your anger, Loâak quickly interjects again. âListen, Itâs like,â He turns to you, the grogginess in his expression fading away and being replaced by something more serious. âIf dad happens to reprimand us, we save our excuses or any reason we have. The response he wants is an apology and an apology is what youâre going to sayâ thatâs it.â
âBut thatâs unfair.â You let out a groan, lips turning into a deep frown. âEspecially to you and Neteyam.â
Loâak only lets out a playful scoff, as if heâs trying to lighten the mood. âYou mean, especially to Neteyam. Broâs an automated machineâ expect him to immediately take the blame.â He says, grinning. âI think dad is just.. cracking the code still? Shit, I donât know. He had to learn to live on two different stars. It must be hard on him.â
âDoesnât it hurt you? Trying to understand someone older?âÂ
Loâak stills for a minute as heavy silence envelopes everyone. âOf course it does. It stings a lot sisâ but I think, no parent deserves a resentful son when all they wanted was for me to be better.âÂ
Then it crashes down upon you like a heavy sack filled with rocks, a realization pressing directly against your chest as you watch Loâakâs face, illuminated against the flicker of the flamesâ the lights cast an image you failed to recognize before. Your brothers werenât exactly immune to Jakeâs ways either. He was equally as tough on them.Â
Maybe you can try for their sake. Maybe you should take the initiative instead of waiting for your fatherâs open arms.Â
âWhy donât you join us tomorrow instead? Take your mind off things. Weâre visiting the old shack with Spider,â Lo'ak's hand carefully reaches for your hair, the tips of his fingers ruffling through your braidsâ a gesture he picked up after Neteyam. You chuckle, suddenly slightly embarrassed.Â
âIsnât it dangerous?â You ask, eyebrows furrowed.Â
âIt is,â Kiri answers for Loâak, giving him a pointed glare. âTuk heard about it and is begging to come along.âÂ
âMore like blackmailed meâ Iâll tell mom if you wonât let me come.â He put on a mocking impression of Tuk, sticking his tongue out in an exaggerated way. Kiri gave him another jab, causing him to hiss in response. âBut it should be safe.âÂ
Kiri rolls her eyes. âWe are so getting into trouble.â
âYou guys go,â You say, back resting against the chair again. âThink I should fix the situation with dad first before getting in trouble again.âÂ
You feel Kiriâs eyes on youâ gaze emitting a sense of gratitude, almost like a tangible thank you for trying. Itâs funny how sheâs younger than you and yet she looked out for you more than you had.Â
You let out a deep sigh as the three of you settled in, reveling in the quiet serenity of the woods. The soft sounds of the forest enveloped you, providing a sense of calm that was hard to miss. Slowly, it lulled you all to a familiar kind of comfort.Â

Breakfast was unsurprisingly silent.Â
You felt like the room was full of robots, their limbs jerking and movements mechanically programmed as they ate. As everyone shifted ever so slightly, it seemed almost like they were doing it robotically - stiff and slow. It was like they were walking on eggshells around you and it was hard not to roll your eyes.Â
It was painfully awkwardâ a hard watch as Jake tried hard not to make eye contact with you. Neytiri would occasionally jab him from the side and pinch the fat of his thigh. âTalk to her.â â her glare would send him the message.Â
He lets out a sigh before visibly gulping. âY/n.âÂ
Your head suddenly jerks upwards from the bowl resting in your lap, startled by your fatherâs voice calling for you. Neytiri watches in anticipation while your heart pounded madly against your chest. Suddenly, the air fills with tension as all movement ceases. Not a single soul speaks or breathesâ waiting.
âPass the salt.â Jesus Christ.Â
You give him a deadpan expression, stretching your arms over to pass it to him. He carefully takes it, shaking it over his already salty meal. Neytiri could only push her hands against her face in frustration, a groan of exasperation coming from deep within. After a few minutes, she finishes up and leaves with Tuk in her arms. The rest follow suit. Â
âIâm off,â You finish cleaning up the table, standing up from your seat and grabbing the weapons you needed for an impromptu hunt. Without waiting for a reply, you left Jake alone on the table.Â
As you trekked further into the forest, you prayed to Eywa for guidance. You were careful to smear the war paint onto your cheeks and foreheadâ breathing labored, but focused nonetheless.Â
You figured, your father has been doing bad from the recent huntsâ only coming home with fruits and small portions of meat, sometimes none at all. It was that kind of season where the animals were out to hide and hibernate. You didnât know where you got the confidence that youâd be able to return with something, considering the best next best warriors could hardly do so.Â
You had to try regardless; you thought that perhaps it could be a way for you and Jake to open up a conversation with each other. Maybe he could soften down his glare a bit when you come home with something to eatâ but as hours passed and the sun burned to noon, you were only met with disappointment.Â
You stopped by an unfamiliar area, leaning against a tree as you tried to catch your breath. You regret not bringing your ikran with youâ just what were you thinking?
As if the great mother had noticed your desperation, a familiar sound roars from a distance. Your ears perked up as you tried to walk through the thick bushes. A lone sturmbeest, drinking by the river. You sighed in relief before hurriedly taking your bow out of your back. They mostly traveled by a herd, but today might just be your luckiestâ you stretch your arms, carefully approaching the animal.Â
Just this once, you pleaded, be in my favor.Â

The journey home was dreadful. You had been carrying meat and a few bones for what seemed like hours on end, feeling the strain in your back from the task. It was a small sturmbeestâ presumably female by the size, but it should be enough to provide meals for a week or so. Before you knew it, eclipse approached fast and you were eager to meet your hammock.Â
You couldnât see; unable to hold any form of light as you needed both hands to carry the heavy sack, but the thought of going home with something to proudly show your father rekindled the sense of pride that was long gone; a feeling you hadn't had in a long timeâ burned by the countless times youâve tried to gain even a drop of recognition.
You were successful in hunting a sturmbeest when no one couldnât for the past weeksâ your father would be proud and that was all the strength you needed to continue waking.Â
Noticing the familiar path back to the clan, a surge of adrenaline courses through your body from the thought of already nearing home. But as the horns blared from the village, you felt nothing but confusionâ What could it mean and why this late? You quickened your pace towards them.Â
Ikrans flew in, landing at the open space as everyone gathered around. You squeezed your way in through the crowdâ stomach churning as the sound of Tuk's cries became more and more clear with every step; but before you could run to your baby sister, you were harshly pulled back. You immediately recognize your fatherâs calloused hands, but this time his grip was harshâ unrelenting. Careful not to trip on your feet, you steadied yourself, head looking up to meet his glare.Â
âWhere were you?âÂ
And just like that, your thoughts come crashing down around you from the sight of your father towering your figure, leaning in slightly. You feel it in the pit of your stomach; this wasn't what you wanted to come home to, this wasn't what you were expecting.
âSir IââÂ
âThe kids are hurt,â Neytiri hissed, tugging him sharply away from you. âFor once, hold your tongue.â
He gives you one last glance, nostrils flaring as he walks away. That was your cue to trail behind. You walked behind him, eyes cast downwards as your thoughts raced through your mind. Neytiri is quick to come and stand by your side, soft kisses pressed into the top of your head. âAre you hurt, maâite? Where were you?â She softly asks.Â
You pause, feeling the words on the tip of your tongue leave the moment you try to open your mouth to speak. For some reason, you felt embarrassedâ ashamed.Â
âWhat happened?â You whispered as you neared your grandmotherâs hut. You glanced back to your siblingâs shivering figures, all of them unable to look you in the eye. Neytiri didnât answer eitherâ didnât know how to tell you that they had found them once again. They processed the severity of the situation still, clearly shaken up and scared.Â
Everyone stepped inside, Mo'at immediately gathering each of them in a warm embrace. She spoke her thanks to Eywa in a gentle murmur, kissing the top of their heads. Neytiri quickly drew Tuk into her own arms, easing her shaking body.Â
âOutside, now.â Jake whispers before leaving. You take one last look around at all the people in the room before finally following him, your palms beginning to sweat as your anxiety intensifies.
Once you both find yourselves in a place where there were no lingering stares or whispers, (and without Neytiri having to save your ass this time), he turns to you, anger just as fiery as before. He strides back and forth, feet heavy on the ground as he attempts to choose his words carefully.
âIââ He started to speak, but then averted his gaze, his jaw clenched tight as he tried again. âWhere were you?âÂ
You try to swallow the lump forming in your throat as you mull over the question, taking a deep breath before finally attempting to answer. âI went out on a hunt. I haveââ
âWithout telling anyone firsthand? With scattered avatars over the perimeter?â Jake is quick to interject, arms flailing in anger. âJust what were you thinking? You knew about them going to the old shack and you did nothing to prevent it?âÂ
Your shoulders slump wearily, feeling extremely overwhelmed. âI only wanted toââ
âJesus Christ, itâs always about what you want, yeah? You with wanting to be oloâeykte, you with wanting to be heard. You and your goddamn wants had us all worried!âÂ
And as you listen to him raise his voice, you turn younger and youngerâ until you were that same kid trying to tug on his arms to look at your first hit; that same kid who would do anything just for a moment of his time. It was like being ten years old all over again and realizing that he was slowly slipping away. Thatâs where you finally decided that Jakeâ your father, was just capable of unloving a child.Â
You take a step back, feeling the frustration boiling over as well. âWell maybe if you were a better father, they wouldnât have the need to go against you every once in a while!â You shouted with the same volume as his, âYou act as if weâre some sort of troops rather than a familyââ
âI do it for youâ for everyone! To keep them safe! You think itâs easy?âÂ
âWell you did a pretty good job because from what I see, theyâre shaking in their boots inside grandmaâs hut!â You sarcastically remarked, âBest dad of Pandora, yeah?âÂ
âJesus Christ,â He mutters under his breath before looking up, as if he was pleading for Eywa to lengthen his patience. He then looked at you, eyes momentarily softening. You were breathing heavily, fangs baring. It was funny, he thought. You werenât his daughter and yet you stood in front of him now looking exactly like him.Â
What he didnât understand was that it wasn't Tsuâteyâs attitude that was passed down to youâ rather, it was Jakeâs anger you inherited. This was all him. All his fault.Â
âI thought I had it good, having Toruk Makto as a father. Five year old me was the proudest, if not a bit boastful too.â You muttered, gaze not meeting his. âThereâs this huge difference that draws the line between being the oloâeyktan and a father and youâre doing a real shit job at the latter.â
I miss the latter, you failed to say.Â
You failed to see the way his ears flattened against his head, how his shoulders dropped like he couldnât hold the weight of the worldâs pressure anymoreâ but you were unable to see him. No, you two didnât see each other eye to eye. To know that you failed your child was something a parent would never want to hear. His own daughter resented him and it was a heartache beyond repair.Â
âYou think you make parenting any easier for me?âÂ
âThen I wish you never took me in!âÂ
It was such a thoughtless thing to do; to utter words that you know will only harm you more than they would ever heal - but it was there, finally out of your system; a though that lingered for as long as you can remember. Why take me in? Why raise a kid you wouldn't be able to care for?
You only wished that words could be undone but neither of you knew when to bite one's tongue back.
âYeah?â He challenged, letting out a mocking snicker. âI really wish I didnâtâ is that what you want me to say? Then go ahead and leave. Find a new family, see if they wonât find you any less difficult.â
And that was the final blowâ the push you needed to leave. You looked at him in disbelief, vision blurry with tears. You shoved the bag right to his chest, forgetting it momentarily amidst the shouting session you just had with your father; the one you desperately wanted to present to him. With nothing else to say, you stormed off, leaving him behind.Â
Oh Eywa, there is nothing else as undoing as being an eldest daughter.Â

heâsâŚwhat?
pairing ; jealous! aoânung x f!sully! reader
taggings ; đŞ˝âď¸đ
summary ; aoânung quickly falls for the sully sister after she arrives in his village, but who is this boy she keeps talking about?
3.1k words
when you and your family had first arrived in awaâatlu you hated it. the sound of iluâs chirping and waves thrashing against the sand wasnât normal. the smell of salt was disgusting. there were no trees to shield you from the suns rays or give you coverage when you wanted to be alone. no grass or cool dirt to dig your feet into.
this wasnât your home; you belong in the forest. you had been chased out of your home after having a knife held to your throat by sky demons; obviously you werenât happy to be here.
your nerves certainly were not eased when the tsahĂk of the metkayina, ronal, had grabbed your four-fingered hand to show the crowd. you were instantly met with hisses and snarls from the lighter blue clan. you gently trembled at her touch, less from fear and more from annoyance, and continued staring into the sand, trying to dig your feet into it like dirt. it was too hot; this wasnât your dirt. your mother intervened, seeing your discomfort, and held you to her; raising her fangs towards the tsahĂŹk. your father entered himself in hopes of calming the situation down, showing the clan his own 4 fingered hand.
when ronal had moved on and the attention focused on the leaders of the metkayina, you glanced up, seeing the ocean clan more clearly this time. you had noticed a girl and two boys closer to your family than the others; they looked around your age. the female was eyeing your youngest brother before her vision shifted towards you. she offered you a warm smile along with a small wave. you looked her up and down before giving her your own smile and wave, though you lowered your hand as you could tell she was now focused on your extra finger.
you looked beside her to see a taller boy with a bun, he had been the one to make fun of your brothers thin tails, the tail you all shared. you sighed and continued staring at the teen, for some reason you couldnât stop. that was proved false when the boy looked your way, you diverted your eyes back to the sand as fast as you could. you hadnât been able to see it, but the teal naâvi eyed you up and down silently. his shorter friend slapped his arm and laughed at him, whispering something you couldnât quite pick up.
apparently whatever your parents and the leaders were talking about had been concluded. you heard the oloâkeytans stern and loud voice speak out among the crowd, before he faced your family directly and spoke a bit softer.
âmy son aoânung, and my daughter tsireya will show you our ways.â
aoânung and tsireya. the boy you had stared at spoke up in disagreement, leading you to his name being aoânung, as well as him being the chiefs son. the kind girl had also made herself to be tsireya when she guided your family to your new home.
you walked among kiri, trailing shortly behind her. you followed tsireya and aoânung had followed from behind you all, paired with his little friend.
âi do not like it here kiri.â you spoke as you looked up to face her.
she scoffed in return, âyeah me neither.â
âthese are ilu, if you want to live here, you have to ride.â
you and your siblings were all hip length deep in the sea, surrounded by multiple swimming animals, they were called ilu. they reminded you of your ikran.
the ocean siblings had been tasked with training you all to learn how to survive within their clan, and it was time to tame your animal.
tsireya first helped loâak, you already knew why. it was quite obvious. he had settled onto the creatures back and held onto the saddle. he made tsaheylu with the marine animal and she took off. you watched as your brother had tried to hold on as best he could but was ripped off due to the speed and pressure that being underwater included.
he had failed miserably and tsireya continued to guide him, but you couldnât all wait for him. (youâd be there for years.)
aoânung had invited you over a few feet to show you how to get your own ilu. he explained the process just as tsireya had. you mounted the animal and waited for instruction.
âhold here, when you make the bond, you need to think with her. not against her. let her guide you.â
after seeing what happened with loâak, you figured that was a load of bullshit and you would be swept away too. you gripped on the saddle with one hand and grabbed your braid with the other.
âyour position is wrong.â
the blue teen pushed your back down and shifted your legs. the feeling was different, the extra skin on his arms were odd. your heartbeat quickened for a moment and the ilu beneath you flapped her fins.
âthere. remember, bond gentle.â
you connected your kuru with the creature, and took off. you panicked for a little until you were reminded with how dramatic loâak is. he had made this look like such a hard task, it really wasnât too bad. the water pressure threatened you but you were able to manage. you tightened your grip and squeezed your eyes shut. as you felt the tide flow with you, you slowly opened your eyes. you instructed your ilu to slow it down, which she listened too.
the sea wasnât horrible. there were so many new creatures you had never even known about. you looked among the fish and corals as you smiled at the sight. feeling your chest begin to tighten, you and your ilu went back up to the surface, swimming closer to where you had left the others.
tuk was the first to congratulate her big sister, âthat was so cool (y/n)!â
âyeah way better then loâakâ, laughed your eldest brother, neteyam.
âok bro, who invited toruk makto?â your youngest brother was always the jokester, and you laughed at the reference.
looking back at your mentor, you noticed aoânung hadnât held any malice or laughter towards you, you took that as a good sign.
throughout the training of your family, you had sectioned off into unofficial groups. tsireya tended to assist loâak and tuk, while aoânung helped neteyam, kiri, and you. aoânung had tried selling you off to tsireya because he was upset he had to deal with three sullyâs while his sister only had two. she had argued that having tuk was basically like having two in one, and she stood with her statement.
with annoyance, he taught you what you all needed to know to adjust to the ocean. most of his lessons were filled with sighs and reprimands when someone would do something wrong, but that had started to fade lately.
âwhat do you mean aoânung is nicer? no he isnât? he still makes fun of us during trainingâŚâ
oh.
it had only began to fade for you.
well this was fine, neteyam was probably just exaggerating. after all, he was certainly a charmer yesterday.
. . .
âyou are not breathing right.â
you and aoânung sat on a jagged rock in the middle of the reef, he was giving you a private lesson on holding your breath because apparently you were falling behind. (not true.)
you looked at him as he demonstrated how to intake the air and hold it, but it just looked like normal breathing. you tried to repeat what he did but it still wasnât good enough for him.
âwhat are you even doing? are you even breathing?â
you rolled your eyes and looked away from the teal teenager, he was so dramatic.
âpay attention to me forest girl,â he redirected your face back towards his.
he placed one of his wide hands on your smaller diaphragm and the other where your heart layed.
you panicked at the sudden contact and prayed he couldnât feel your heartbeat pick up beneath his touch.
âeywa please i never ask for anyth-â
âyour heartbeat is fast. thatâs why you cannot breathe.â
thanks great mother.
despite the metkayinaâs teasing, he had genuinely seemed to adjust to you. you two spent more one on one training together and even hung out when it wasnât time to train.
it was nearing eclipse when aoânung had come to your families marui, unfortunately, your father had noticed him first.
âwhat are yaâ doinâ here boy.â
the shorter navi hesitated for a moment until he was able to speak up,
âiâm- iâm here for (y/n.) sir.â
your father looked him up and down with a stern look on his face. aoânung was convinced he would be thrown outside by toruk makto himself. jake grunted and leaded down into your new friends face.
âsheâs back by 10 before eclipse. a second after and iâll cut your tail off. she comes back with even a hint of your touch on her iâll drag you deep into the ocean by your braid and leave you there. understood?â
âyeah- got it.â
âi said understood.â
âuh-understood sir!â
your dad sighed before finally alerting you of the conversation,
â(y/n!) visitor!â
you showed up at the door as your father was walking away, and was greeted with the sight of aoânung shaking in the sand.
âhey aoânung! you alright?â
he eyed the exit, indicating you to leave with him. once you step out he grabbed your thinner arm and ran towards the shore, looking back for the deadly gaze of jake sully.
âoh my god (y/n) why didnât you tell me your dad is fucking terrifying.â
you giggled and brought your hand to your lips, trying to conceal it.
âwhatever, no big deal, follow me.â
despite his ego being damaged, he led you along the shore, pointing out some shells he though you would like on the way. you two eventually made it to the more foresty part of his island, farther from the clan.
you were unaware this area existed and instantly fell in love. it had been months since you had seen a tree. the sight reminded you of your home and it brought you so much happiness. you glanced at the back of aoânungs head as you continued to follow him where he led. you two made it to a part of the small forest that opened out into the beach. you could see the sunset and water clashing onto the sand all from behind a tree.
âaoânung! this is so beautiful, itâs just like the forest!â
âwell yeah, thatâs what i was hoping for..â
he was hiding his flushed face but you could hear the smile he was trying to hold back.
âcome!â
you grabbed his arm towards a tree you deemed was tall and had enough branches. effortlessly, you climbed up the tree. you jumped and stood on branches, easily making it to the high thin branch you wanted. you had planted your left leg and arms on the branch as your right leg hung down.
the lighter blue naâvi watched you and his mouth dropped open. he had made fun of your family for being poor divers, but god you were good at climbing. him and his friends would break the branches if they were to ever try that.
âget up here!â
âyeahâŚi donât think so.â
you quickly remembered you were among the sea people now, and their bodies simply werenât built for climbing like you were.
âah right.â
you hopped down onto a lower branch then the ground, the teen boy staring in aw yet again. you ran up to him and pulled him into a hug while giggling.
âthank you aoânung, really. this was greatâ
he scoffed in embarrassment and rubbed his neck,
âyeah, weâll thereâs actually one more thing. i was just wondering if youâd l-â
you cut him off before he could finish his question.
âthis is just like what txäol would show me!â
what.
ever since the first mention of this âtxäolâ they kept coming.
no matter how many times aoânung tried to get you to like him more, it always ended up as a talk about txäol.
âaoânung this necklace is so pretty! it looks like the one txäol gave me!â
âtxäol used to say that! heâs super funny.â
âoh eywa this shell would look great next to the flowers txäol gave me!â
you were beyond oblivious at the way aoânungs eye would twitch when you brought up your best friend from back in the forest.
it was a comment on the gifts heâs given you, or the stories he used to tell you, or sometimes you would show the metkayina boy some things the omatikayan gave you before you left the forest.
aoânung raised his concerns with tsireya first. she was pretty close to you, so he thought she might have some intel.
. . .
tsireya automatically burst out laughing when her brother questioned her.
âyour-your joking right? sweet eywa, your so funny! your helpless brother- truly!â
âwhat- tsireya what are you talking about?! who is txäol?!â
âoh-oh my eywa i cant-â she continued laughing.
âis he her boyfriend?!â
this just caused tsireya to start laughing again. she gripped her stomach and bent over, unable to stop the giggles that flowed out of her.
âwhatever- your never any help! iâll just ask her!â
and so thatâs what he did.
the teal teenager approached you while you were mounting your ilu, getting ready to go hunting.
â(y/n)!â
you turned your head to the sound of your name and saw aoânung riding his own ilu towards you.
âoh- hey! did you need anything? i was just about to head out.
he had been torturing himself over this question for so long he just cut to the point.
âis txäol your boyfriend?!â
you paused and had no words. your ilu had picked up on your shock and had even dropped her own jaw.
ât-txäol? h-â
you were cut off by the reef naâvi.
âif he is- just tell me. i understand if you have a lover back home that you canât forget about. all iâm asking is you let me know!â
âheâs n-â you tried to speak before you were interrupted again.
âi just canât deal with the not knowing! i see you, (y/n), and i need to know if you see me too! you talk about this txäol guy all the time, so if your in love with him instead, tell me! i wonât be an-â
âheâs gay!â
oh.
bonus!!
the sky people had finally returned back to their planet, and wouldnât be coming back this time. this meant your people were safe. you could go back to the forest! back to the forestâŚ
when you first arrived at the reef, all you could think about was going home, and how happy you would be. but now that home was right in front of you, you just couldnât. not without aoânung.
you two had recently began courting each other, and had plans of mating once you both completed your rite of passages. you couldnât leave him behind now. so if you couldnât leave him behind..why not take him with you!
. . .
you yipped for your ikran, calling her down to the sandy shores.
âseyä! hi girl!â you rubbed her nose and cleaned off some sand off her head.
you mounted seyä and invited aoânung to do the same.
âno fucking way.â
âshe doesnât bite!â
âyes the fuck she do? look at her!â
âaww you poor thing..is he being mean to you?â
you rubbed your ikrans head and made tsaheylu. she flapped her wings and screeched, scaring the hell out of aoânung.
âyeah thereâs no way iâm going anywhere near that th-â
he was cut off as seyä picked him up under his arms using her claws, flying up in the air. you giggled and grabbed aoânungs hands, pulling him up behind you on the saddle.
âthat wasnât so bad- right?â you could swore you saw a tear running down his face, but he denies it.
. . .
the fly had taken a few days and you were exhausted, aoânung had given you company and made sure to hold you extra tight when you were getting tired. if it wasnât for him stopping you to make you sleep, you probably wouldâve flown while sleeping.
after what felt like years, you finally arrived back at the forest. you flew over the trees until you saw the omatikaya people, your people. your smile had began hurting your jaw as you landed your ikran on a tree, hopping off and landing on the branches. you would just jumped right down but you had to help the metkayina.
âhere- just..place this foot here. and then this arm right here.â
it took awhile (32 minutes) to get him down around 7 branches. it usually took you a few seconds, but who were you to judge.
he mainly just trailed behind you as you greeted so many friends you had missed. he felt like the outsider now, surrounded by darker blue people with thin limbs. he stayed back until he heard someone scream your name. a boy scream your name.
â(y/n)! oh my eywa- your back!â he ran up to you and embraced you in the tightest hug out of everyone else.
aoânung looked this guy up and down and frowned at him, about to step in and announce himself as your boyfriend until you spoke up.
âtxäol! oh i missed you so much-!â
oh. him. the metkayinas anger was reduced, but still present. this boy was all over you! how could he not be upset? he stepped up closer to you and wrapped his hands around your waist, hugging you from behind.
âoh- txäol meet aoânung, aoânung meet txäol!â
txäol raised his nonexistent eyebrows at how the boy hugged you and eyed you. he would definitely need you to tell him about everything he missed.
âiâm txäol, (y/n)âs best friend!â
âaoânung. her mate.â
you kicked aoânungs knee, trying to get him to be nicer. he was still jealous and god did it show.
âspeaking of mates..â txäol started.
you stared and him and gasped. âyour lying.â
â(y/n) meet ityea, my boyfriend.â
a shorter omatikayan male entered from the forest and held txäolâs hand. you screeched. like loud. ikran loud.
âtxäol oh my eywa i canât even- you guys are so cute!!â you hugged your best friend and spun around.
âright?! but no- you guys too! i canât believe you found someone in another clan- you guys are adorable!!â
aoânung backed up and grounded himself. right. he was gay.

neteyamâs twin sister is the twin that came second but carried equal responsiblity.
neteyamâs twin sister is alot more outgoing and charming compared to the quiet and more reserved half of her.
neteyamâs twin sister is a mamaâs girl. always wearing her emotions on her sleeve, always so expressive. she was the sylwanin and the tom out of the twins.
neteyamâs twin sister is his best friend. his other half. spiritually bonded for life the two of them. while different they somehow mesh as well as an oiled machine. she is the one person he could go to, the one person he could express himself freely without having to be a warrior first. or the older brother first. with her he is just a child, like her.
neteyamâs twin sister is jake sullyâs first baby girl and that was never going to change. his little princess that reminded him so much of tom and him at the same time. the good parts of him, that is. and there was a certain innocence to her. one that af ather should protect with his last breath.
neteyamâs twin sister sometimes came at odds with loâak. the two had very hard headed and stubborn personalities. so much so, they would always clash and fight as siblings do. kiri would often be in the middle of it, calling them both immature. their fights wouldnât last long, not with neteyam interfering and making them apologize to each other. neteyam was always the one to get her to listen. only him.
neteyamâs twin sister always had little tuk following her around and copying everything she did. she is her role model after all, tuk couldnât help but look up to her and kiri.
neteyamâs twin sister doesnât like the amount of responsiblity he puts on himself. always offers to share the burder as they technically already shared the title of older siblings. but neteyam always refused her, always reminded her that their paths were meant to be different and that she didnât have to follow him everywhere. she was free to be her own person.
neteyamâs twin sister doesnât like when their father cracks down on both neteyam and loâak. the sky people have made their return and everything had become so tense. neteyam is constantly training, loâak wants to be like their father. she keeps offering to help her twin brother, keeps telling him to stop taking on so much responsibility but neteyam just smiles and assures her things are going to be okay while their grandmother bandages his recent wounds.
neteyamâs twin sister cries and cries and cries when they are forced to go into exile from their home. their shared grief brought them closer again, after a year of feeling like they were too far away from each other.
neteyamâs twin sister isnât fitting in well with the metkayina clan. sheâs not used to their world and feels out of place, out of her element. neteyam and her are back to being inseparable, navigating this whole new world together.
neteyamâs twin sister starts getting along better with loâak because they both shared their insecurities about being outsiders. neteyam is glad.
neteyamâs twin sister feels helpless every time neteyam and loâak are yelled at by their parents. but she sticks up for them the best she can, even if her parents discourage the behavior. and whenever she does, jake and neytiri always wore looks of disappointment. as if they expected better.
out of bitterness, neteyamâs twin sister is called âthe perfect princessâ by loâak and she utterly despises it and gets into another fight with him, this time neteyam nowhere in sight to break them up.
in the end their fight didnât matterâŚ
neteyamâs twin sister is scared to death when her stubborn yet sweet younger brother goes to save payakan. she doesnât hesitate to go along with her twin, tsireya, and the others to help him save his new friend.
neteyamâs twin sister doesnât hesitate to save her little sister and brother from the sky people. nor does she hesitate to go with tuk to try and save kiri. it didnât matter if she ended up captured with the two of them. as long as the two were protected by her, then it was okayâŚ..
neteyamâs twin sister feels a sudden hole in her chest. she doesnât know where this feeling had come from but she dreads it. as if something was wrong. as if something bad had happenedâŚ.
neteyamâs twin sister feels her heart sink when quaritch mentions loosing one of his boys. she wonders right then which brother she lost. she wonders if this hole in her chest had already given her an answerâŚ
neteyamâs twin sister reunites with her family on stray debris, allowing them to pull her in to a tight hug. but she doesnât bother to respond to any of it.
you donât bother to respond to your fatherâs cautious yet gentle calls of your name. you donât bother to acknowledge your motherâs tears as she cups your cheeks.
youâveâŚ.
youâve lost him.
you find your twin lying still on the piece of rock, right where your family had left him to come and save you.
you never could imagine loosing your twin. nor the pain that came with it. the silence that settled around you. the emptiness of it.
loâakâs older sister falls to her knees.
and cries.
and cries.
and cries.
and cries.
he had never seen her cry. not like this.
loâakâs older sister is quiet as stone when she watches her twin lay with eywa. leaving her behind for good.

đšđđđ đđđđđ˘ đĄ đđđđđđđđ!đđđđđđ
Family album: Neytiri, Neteyam, Kiri, Loâak, Tuk, and Spider
~~~~~~~~~
đżyou donât butt heads often but when you doâŚyeesh yelling, not speaking to one another and you both are hesitant to apologize.
đżbeing the closest to Neteyam, you are definitely seen as the older kids, when Kiri was 15 she was still grouped in at âthe littlesâ so, Jake expects a lot from you.
đżjake has specific activities he engages with each of his children separately. With âTeyam itâs hunting and swimming but also he does Oloâeyktan training, Kiri itâs going on walks to gather various things or going to the sacred tree, Loâak enjoys learning about human things and they spar a lot too, TukTuk is still learning what she likes so she likes when he shows her how to do things or when she gets to tag along when he does what she would deem âadultâ things it makes her feel extra special, and with you, he likes to race on ikrans with you and sometimes he will let you teach him a dance that you learned or made up.
đżyour dad loves to tell you about his past and about how he met Neytiri. You of course love the the Toruk Makto story the best because itâs as romantic as is epic. He appreciates your interest in his life in that way and it keeps you guys close.
đżhe loves your sense of humor, though you claim it came from him. You loved making your dad laugh.
đżis the most proud when he sees you confident in your skills and being kind with your siblings.
đżhe actually cried when you made your first clean kill. Pure joy. (Neytiri did too)
đżyou are the most fluent in English because when Neteyam was born and young, Neytiri didnât want Jake speaking any English with him but when you came along she was more laxed.
đżjake is very protective of you when in comes to potential mates. No one deserves you.
đżrelies on you even more than he realizes
đżhe has nicknames for you! äzantu (one who is bossy),hona (cute), but most commonly yueyâite meaning âbeautiful daughterâ đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°
Heâs a good dad but definitely has his flaws. He loves you and all your siblings so much.
More coming soon I LOVE making these!! Remember, requests are openđşđşđş
soo i kinda had an idea for fali if youâre open to it if not itâs okay too đ ofc fali and sully!reader where itâs after he was shot (đđ) possibly him having to do small exerciseâs/physical therapy type thing daily so this is obv a little while after he got hurt anyway he hates doing them and is kinda keeping to himself with it or is getting frustrated that heâs struggling with them and reader comforts/helps?? idk if any of what i js said made sense but i hope so đ anyway thank you!!
summary: recovery is a grueling and arduous process for everyone, but especially for fali. he can't see past the warrior he used to be versus the one he is now, post-injury. he won't let anyone in... well, except for [y/n].
fali (oc) x sully!reader
a/n: this is kind of insane to think i'm writing this right now, but also i forgot how fun it is to create and publish works. anyway, i know it took me a long time to carry out my promises, but here is a long-awaited little blurb (?) about our beloved fali and [y/n], two names that i haven't written down in about like... two-ish years, give or take? a bit less, but the point still stands. i hope you guys enjoy! and i pray that i live up to your expectations.
lean on me, when you're not strong
[y/n] was always observant. as the eldest of five, never mind being the eldest girl, she'd felt the need to read everyone's facial expressions, their emotions, their expectations, their needs, their wants, their desires. it was just as much a survival tactic as it was an instinct. when things tended to change so abruptly in her childhood, whether that be one of her siblings crying (and lead to her mother nearly having a meltdown herself) or the arrival of the sky-people, she was always there to expect and, in its stead, to soothe.
but, some of that instinct fell away when she began training with her father. she was no longer expected to be the caretaker in an emotion sense, but rather a protector. her observant nature proved her worthy as she had the advantage of throwing her opponent off with a simple comment (like the time she took a chance and teased a childhood friend of her crush on neteyam before pinning her all because she was distracted) or merely reading their next move.
however, interestingly enough, with her time spent living with the metkayina, and fali obviously, [y/n] had started to evolve into her older self. no longer in fear of the sky-people since they managed to defeat them, [y/n] has once again returned to her caregiving nature.
although, perhaps a lot of that is because of fali.
while [y/n] had come out of the womb strong yet soft, in some ways, fali had come out as a true warrior. screaming bloody murder, naturally. but, while his infancy was a loud few years (he really had no trouble figuring out the functions of his vocal chords), it was also an exciting few years.
he'd always bounced around, itching to learn the ways of warriors from his parents. fali was naturally proud--of his heritage, of his family, of his people. in an entirely different way, fali too had the natural urge to protect.
but, that's why it'd been so difficult for him to recover. not physically, because eywa knows how seriously he took every assignment, every exercise, every appointment because he knew that was the only way to return to the past, but... emotionally, it was a taxing time.
fali had always been the one to protect his family. even though his parents were respected warriors, they were old. they'd managed to have fali late in their years, and they often called him a miracle from eywa herself.
not only did he concern himself over his parents, but he also practically adopted aonung and tsireya as his baby siblings. he'd protected them all through their years growing up, although he did treat them as a normal older brother at times. if he remembered correctly, fali was the first one who aonung ever got into a physical tussle with. that being said, fali was also the first one to give aonung a black eye.
but now, after taking a wound so dangerous that it was nearly fatal, fali was left... as the weakest link. now, his parents had to take care of him. now, tsireya and aonung could barely look at him without guilt or pity clouding their eyes. now, he was... he was useless.
and worst of all, he needed help.
of course, fali never really asked for help. for the first few weeks of recovery, he would struggle on his own, cry on his own, yell at the sky on his own. it was such an alien feeling to hate himself as much as he did. somehow hate that he'd survived the wound.
he never told that to anyone, of course, but he didn't really need to because someone was always watching him.
[y/n] had let him be for those first weeks. she knew what he was feeling--not totally, but she recognized his independence and protective nature. that's honestly why they'd been so drawn to each other in the first place. but, just because she left him alone didn't mean she wasn't paying attention.
her fingers curled into fists at her sides. her feet itched to move, to run to him, to hold him together when he was breaking apart. but she forced herself to stay still. she fought the urge every time she saw him break down into a puddle of tears, every time he gave up and threw his cane in the sand, every time he unleashed a rage she recognized too deeply. she would not step in unless he needed her, that's what she kept telling herself.
that is, until one morning, when the sun is just peeking above the horizon and the ocean is already awake with creatures jumping, dancing, singing, and celebrating the beauty of pandora, [y/n] woke up with a jolt.
she had no idea why--she usually slept quite soundly until the first horn was blown, but there was something stirring in her blood. something she didn't fully recognize, but she felt that same familiar adrenaline pumping, that same familiar sixth sense that whispered to her, get up. you're needed.
at first, she was confused, although frantic because all the worst possibilities popped into her head. tuk? she wondered before her eyes scanned the floor of their marui only to find her fast asleep in their mother's arms. next to them was her father, still unconscious and snoring quite loudly. the rest of her siblings were fine too, she realized quickly.
so then, what was it?
that's when she finally walked outside, standing on the docks and scanning the horizon with squinted eyes.
oh, she breathed, fingers softly brushing her mouth at the sight that beheld her on the beach. "oh, fali," she whispered, shaking her head.
it wasn't an unordinary sight, her love crouched on the ground, cane resting in the sand as his shoulders shook from silent sobs. but, something about that morning, his depressing sight juxtaposed by the bright sunrise behind him... it made [y/n]'s heart drop into her stomach.
as she walked carefully from her marui to the beach in which fali awaited her, although unbeknownst to him, her mind shuffled through a thousand different things to say. questions to ask, answers to demand, comforting words to whisper. should she rub his back? kiss him? how would she like to be treated? she thought she'd want to be left alone, but maybe... maybe that wasn't right.
unfortunately for her, her thoughts must've grown too loud because she hadn't realized how noticeable her footsteps must've been. just as she was nearing fali, the boy froze and turned around to look at her.
as her eyes met his, her heart stopped. he looked.... well, he looked awful. not because of the puffy skin atop his cheek bones, or pale skin, or even the pained grimace on his face... it was something about his eyes. they didn't sparkle, not like they usually did, they were... dull. they were hurt. they weren't fali.
and that's when [y/n] realized it really didn't matter how much planning she did on the walk here because, when it really comes down to it, when it comes to the person she loved the most, the words were natural. they came to her like waves did to the shore.
"oh, my tĂŹyawn," she whispered, voice soft against the song of the birds that flew above their heads. "i'm so sorry."
there was something about those simple words--just three simple words--that made something within fali click. for as long as he'd been recovering, everyone had tried to stay strong for him, tried to encourage him, to motivate him. never once had someone... empathized with him. not until then, that is.
fali's breath hitched. his shoulders trembled, as if he were trying to hold himself together, but the dam was cracking. and when [y/n] sat beside him, warmth against his cold solitude, the first tear finally fell.
"fali," she whispered, setting a hand on his, and she watched as his lip trembled, "fali, i am sorry that this has happened to you. i'm sorry it had been so hard adjusting, i'm sorry everything feels so different. it is so hard to be in this situation, and i realize... i realize i abandoned you. i thought it was the right thing to do, i thought you needed space, but really... you needed someone."
she grabbed his hand, softly, lifting it up to her lips and pressing a soft kiss. "you will get through this, fali. you will grow strongerânot just in body, but in spirit. learning to adapt isnât weakness. itâs wisdom. and you wonât do it alone. iâll be with you, every step."
fali exhaled shakily, as if the weight of the world had settled deep in his chest and was only now beginning to lift. he didnât speak. he didnât need to.
instead, his fingers curled around [y/n]âs, gripping her hand as if she were the only thing keeping him tethered. and maybe, in that moment, she was.
[y/n] squeezed back, saying nothing. just being there. just being his.
okay but imagine reader being in a polyamorous relationship with jake and neytiri, and sheâs also one of the loyal scientists who stayed in pandora. like jake, she transferred her soul to her avatar body. polyamorous relationships were normal and traditional even, sometimes it happens just to increase the numbers of people in the clan. but what happened between you three was genuine. reader gets pregnant after neteyam and kiri were born, and she gives birth to loâak. loâak was her only child so she cherishes him a lot, and instanly becomes the good cop in the parents while jake plays bad cop and neytiri is the good cop bad cop.
just a thought because my baby deserves to be pampered with familial love đĽšđ
I DON'T HATE YOU
Ao'nung x Sully!Reader
Warnings: fem!R, use of Y/n, translated english because it's not my mother tongue so feel free to correct me, reader is the middle child (younger than Neteyam and Kiri, but older/same age as Lo'ak and older than Tuk), Sully family moments, mostly with big bro Neteyam and Lo'ak because we love protective bros and we deserved to see more Sully siblings interactions, Reader cries a little so don't complain if you don't like her behaviour, just write your own story with your girl boss character if you don't like this, i hate when people criticize sweet and sensitive characters, we're not all the same person.
///
Of all the adventures you had on Pandora, abandoning your home and your clan because your family was in danger was the most unexpected. You never imagined having to say goodbye to the clan members, your friends who you almost considered like a second family and your grandmother Mo'at.
You didn't yet know where your father would have taken you, but wherever it was, you knew you would have never seen the majestic creatures and bright, colorful greenery that surrounded your village again. The only faithful companion you had left was your beloved ikran.
The journey was long and tiring, but you finally arrived at your destination.
A group of islands ruled the ocean you'd soared over and you had to admit that while you missed your home, the land you'd seek refuge in looked just as splendid. Typical of the planet Pandora. By the time your ikran landed on Awa'atlu beach, the people of the village had already begun to gather on the shore to watch you.
You joined in a small group, your parents in front, with Tuk taking your mother's hand, Kiri after them, and you between Lo'ak and Neteyam.
"Be nice" your mother said.
The people of the clan watched you and talked among themselves, but it didn't take you long to realize that it was just bad prejudices and sneers.
You noticed two boys emerge from the crowd and approach you with a sharp look. You and your brothers greeted them with a gesture of your hands, as your parents had taught you out of respect, even though he didn't seem interested in being so cordial.
A girl also came out of the water and you immediately noticed how Lo'ak's gaze was glued to her as she moved closer to everyone else to watch you.
You gave a little amused smile.
"Are these supposed to be their tails?" sneered one of the two boys, approaching to touch Neteyam's tail and he took a step forward, taken aback. "How do they move?"
At that moment the girl joined them and gave a small slap on the arm of one of them.
"Enough. Rotxo, Ao'nung"
Mentally you were grateful for her intervention. You already felt uncomfortable around all of them, but at least she didn't seem intent on judging you like everyone else.
Next the chief of the clan came forward and with him the one who seemed to be the Tsahik.
You all greeted them.
"I see you, Tonowari" Jake said, tilting his head and he waved back.
"What brings you here to the Metkayinas, Jake Sully?" he asked solemnly.
"We are seeking for uturu (refuge). We have distanced ourselves from our clan and me and my family need a place to stay"
The Tsahik, Ronal, took a step towards him.
"And will you bring here the war like you did in the past?" she asked frowning.
"No, i'm done with the war. I just want to protect my family"
Ronal began walking among you, scrutinizing you one by one.
"Your arms are thin. And your tails are small. You will never be able to go fast in the water"
She took Kiri's arm.
"You're not even real Na'vi" she hissed and Kiri jerked her arm away from her grip.
"Yes, we are!" your sister retorted.
Then Ronal moved to Lo'ak and grabbed his hand, raising it so that everyone could see his five blue fingers.
"They have demon blood!" she exclaimed and everyone left scared noises and started whispering again.
Jake got her attention by raising his hand.
"Look! Look! I was one of them too, but i am Na'vi now"
Ronal moved back to position herself beside her husband as you took Lo'ak's hand, having noticed the downcast, saddened gaze he had when all the attention of the clan was on him. He lifted his head to look at you and gave you a slight smile, which you returned.
"I adapted" Jake continued. "And we can do it again. We can learn to live like you and be like you"
///
And so it was decided. Tonowari would let you stay with the clan and they would teach you how to live like true Metkayina. Tonowari and Ronal's children, Tsireya, the girl Lo'ak had an instant crush on and Ao'nung, were put in charge as your "teachers".
Tsireya was a sweet girl, you knew it from the first moment. She always had a big smile on her face and seemed eager to meet you and spend time with new people. Her brother Ao'nung, on the other hand, didn't seem too happy at the idea of being with you guys.
After taking your things to one of the Marui hidden in the mangroves, in what would have been your home from that moment, Tsireya, Ao'nung and Rotxo, Ao'nung's friend, jumped into the water and she invited you all to follow.
With joy you also threw yourselves into the water, eager to take a bath.
"Now take a deep breath" Tsireya said and you all obeyed.
She and the others went under the water and you and your siblings followed.
Fish of all kinds wallowed in those crystal clear waters and swam alongside, surrounding you. Not to mention the variety of marine plants, algae, corals, shells... There were an infinity of them!
You noticed Kiri quietly getting lost in thought admiring the sea creatures. You, Lo'ak, Tuk and Neteyam on the other hand, were already running out of air in your lungs, so you were forced to surface, take another deep breath and dive again.
Tsireya and the other two were already far ahead of you, you were having a hard time keeping up with her. Obviously they had an advantage, seeing their body structure, which allowed them to go much faster than you underwater.
When she realized you weren't with them, Tsireya turned to look at you and gestured with her fingers. Neteyam shook his head and you all looked at her confused, having no idea what she was doing.
You returned to the surface. Seconds later, Tsireya, Rotxo and Ao'nung also appeared.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Tuk rubbed a hand over her eye.
"You are too fast, wait for us!" she exclaimed.
"You're not doing very well" Ao'nung said then, looking at you all with a smirk. "You may be good in the trees, but in the water..."
Tsireya glared at him and hit him lightly on his head. You held back a laugh, ignoring his previous comment.
"How about we try with the Ilus?" Tsireya then continued with a smile and you looked at her with furrowed brows.
"The what?"
///
You arrived at a point in the sea where you could still touch with your feet, without having to swim. You watched Ao'nung making a strange noise with his mouth and a few seconds later creatures that looked like marine Ikrans joined you.
"These are ilus" Ao'nung said, spreading his arms. "If you want to stay here, you have to learn to ride them"
"So? Who wants to try?" asked Tsireya, clapping her hands.
You remained silent. It's not that you didn't want to do it, but you wished one of your siblings started first, to see what it would be like.
The chosen one was Lo'ak, who mounted the ilu, while beside him, Tsireya showed him how to behave. In fact it seemed to be much easier to mount than your ikrans.
"Feel the bond" she murmured, watching Lo'ak connect to the animal. "Stay calm and focused and tell him where you need to go"
Lo'ak took a breath and Tsireya walked away. Suddenly the ilu darted forward and after a few meters plunged underwater. Lo'ak scrambled to hang on to the saddle, but he couldn't hold on for long and seconds later he slipped back, surfacing as the ilu swam away.
Forget it.
Ao'nung and his friends started laughing and Tsireya also hid a giggle behind her hand.
"Can i try it?" you asked raising a hand and taking a step forward.
Tsireya nodded happily, while Ao'nung gave you a smirk to tease you.
He called another ilu and held it still, giving you time to climb onto it.
"Are you ready to end up like your brother, forest-girl?" he asked you in an arrogant tone.
You glared at him, but then returned the smirk, not wanting to give in to his teasing.
"You wish" you replied, and then connected.
"Hey, if it goes bad, don't be upset. I surely don't expect much from a tree climber" he continued and his friends chuckled, while your brothers glared at him.
You commanded the ilu to go and he set off, moving forward and then submerging. Maybe you didn't have enough oxygen, maybe you didn't concentrate, or maybe it was the irritation Ao'nung's words had caused you that distracted you, but needless to say, you repeated Lo'ak's scene.
You swam back to the group, not surprised to hear the giggles of Ao'nung and his friends. Tsireya gave you an encouraging smile, while Neteyam placed a hand on your head, as he used to do, stroking you.
You glanced at Ao'nung and he, obviously, still had that skxawng (idiot) smirk plastered on his fishy face.
"See?" he only asked.
You clenched your fists, then pointed a finger at him.
"At least we know how to ride our ikrans. I'd like to see you trying to escape to avoid it killing you!" you retorted.
He raised his hands and you huffed.
"I want to try again" you said resolutely, moving away from Neteyam and approaching him.
Ao'nung called the ilu and then moved an arm towards the saddle, inviting you to climb. It might have seemed like a kind gesture to those who saw from afar, but you all knew it was far from that.
You climbed onto the creature, still glaring at the boy. It was at that moment that you decided that you would have not given him the satisfaction of seeing you struggling to learn. You wouldn't have let him win that easily.
///
The days went by.
You didn't expect to know how to ride the ilu from the very first second, you weren't born learned. But it bothered you. You managed to tame your ikran in a day, but not that damned fish in almost a week.
But the lessons weren't limited to just that. Tsireya also wanted you to learn how to control your breathing, so you could increase the time you could stay underwater. Not to mention sign language, so you could communicate without having to come back to the surface every time.
At that moment you were watching from nearby Lo'ak, Kiri and Neteyam, who were learning to hold their breath, accompanied by Tsireya and Rotxo.
âYou have to take a deep breath. And calm your heartâ she said.
Lo'ak closed his eyes and took a breath, while Tsireya placed a hand on his abdomen.
"Breathe from here" she told him.
Then you saw her place a hand on his chest and he opened his eyes.
"Lo'ak. Your heart is beating fast" she called back and even though he was trying to hide it, you saw a look of embarrassment decorate your brother's face as he apologized.
Neteyam and Rotxo exchanged a knowing smile and you too smiled amused.
"Shouldn't you be there learning with them?" someone asked behind you.
You rolled your eyes, recognizing his annoying voice, then turned to look at him.
"And shouldn't you be there teaching?" you asked him back.
Ao'nung grimaced, but said nothing more. He turned on his heel and walked away. You shook your head, not understanding what his problem was.
"Skxawng" you mumbled under your breath, then looked back at your siblings.
///
Sometimes the thought of your siblings watching you fail embarassed you, even though they weren't the type to laugh at you when it happened. Lo'ak and Neteyam could make a few jokes, but it was nothing you wouldn't laugh at too. They weren't like Ao'nung and his friends.
So you tended to be on your own from time to time, or in this case, train alone with your ilu. You had learned to make the call sounds, so now it was a little easier. Or that's what you thought.
As you surfaced, you let out a cry of frustration as your ilu drifted off into the water, as if it didn't care that you'd wasted hours trying to ride it.
"Stupid fish..." you huffed, pounding the water. "As soon as you get back here you'll be just a grilled skewer i'm going to eat for dinner-"
"Woah, let's calm the spirits, forest-girl"
Great, here he comes too.
You tried not to show an annoyed expression as you turned to look at Ao'nung who was approaching you riding his ilu.
"There doesn't seem to be any improvement here" he continued and you folded your arms.
"Did you realize it just now? There's no need for you to come here just to hold it against me, okay? I know it too that i am not capable"
"I didn't say that" he just replied.
You turned away and called your ilu, while watching Ao'nung's movements out of the corner of your eye.
"I don't understand why i find it so difficult. I mean, all my siblings did it. Even Tuk. And even that idiot Lo'ak!" you exclaimed in a tone of exasperation, not noticing Ao'nung's amused smile.
"I don't know... Maybe it's me? Is it me who has something wrong? I mean, i already know i'm different from you Metkayina, but i didn't think that would make things so difficult"
You heard a sigh, then Ao'nung appeared in front of you.
"It's not you" he said and you looked at him.
"No?"
Ao'nung shook his head.
"Believe me, i've seen much more incompetent people who managed to do it in less time than you. But that doesn't mean you're wrong. I just think you're not trying hard enough"
"Pff, that's easy for you to say" you rolled your eyes.
Ao'nung did the same but then waved you back onto your ilu. You sighed, but obeyed, climbing onto the saddle and then connecting to her.
"First take a deep breath-"
"As if i haven't done this before..." you muttered and Ao'nung glared at you.
"Close your eyes" he ordered sternly.
You raised your arms and did as requested.
"Breathe" he said.
You inhaled, but at the exact moment you felt one of his hands resting on your stomach, as Tsireya had done with Lo'ak, your eyes flew open and you slapped his hand.
"Do not touch me!" you exclaimed.
"Hey! I'm just trying to help you!" he retorted.
"I can do it myself!"
"No, you can't, because otherwise i wouldn't have come here!"
At those words you closed your mouth and your irritated expression turned into a more surprised one. Ao'nung shifted his gaze to your ilu, escaping from your eyes. You gave him a smirk.
"So you came to help me of your own will? Who would have thought?"
Ao'nung looked back at you and splashed some water on you with one hand.
"Shut up and close your eyes" he huffed. "Let's start again"
You giggled and closed your eyes again. Then you took another breath and again you felt his hand resting against your abdomen, but this time you didn't fight back.
"Breathe from here, calm your heartbeat. You've already seen the others do this before, haven't you?"
You breathed deeply, trying not to focus on his palm that was resting on your skin.
"You have to focus. Not only on yourself, but also on your ilu. You are not her master and she is not an animal that has to obey you. You are companions. Feel her body, her muscles, her emotions, her breath. Think of the bond that unites you. You must be one with another"
You tried hard to think as Ao'nung was telling you. And you mentally apologized to your ilu for all the insults you had thrown at her under your breath and also for the threats to make her a grilled fish, as if you hoped she would understand you.
"Are you ready? Now hold on and tell her where to go," Ao'nung concluded, taking a couple of steps back.
You opened your eyes and after a couple of seconds the ilu shot forward and then submerged under the water. As the seconds passed you realized that you weren't risking letting go of the saddle and you weren't struggling to figure out how to move. And even though you were underwater for a few minutes, you still didn't feel the need to come back to the surface and recharge with oxygen. Finally you could enjoy your first real trip on your ilu. You wandered along the sea bed, passing among the seaweed and near the corals, brushing your fingers against the fish that passed by you.
After a couple of minutes you saw that Ao'nung had also joined you with his ilu, positioning himself beside you to swim together. You gave him a challenging look and suddenly accelerated in speed and he immediately copied you.
When you finally felt that you were running out of air, you slowed down and returned to the surface, followed closely by him.
As soon as your head came out of the water you took a deep breath, then let out a cry of joy.
"I did it! Yay!"
You threw your hands in the air and Ao'nung crossed his arms, looking at you with a smirk.
"In your face, skxawng!" you continued, approaching him and pointing a finger at him. "You thought i was going to suck but no! Y/n Sully succeeded and-"
"And i would say that it is above all thanks to me, or am i wrong?" he interrupted you.
You touched your chin with a finger, pretending to think about it for a moment.
"Mhh. Maybe" you answered.
Ao'nung shook his head and chuckled.
"Not bad, Y/n. Not bad"
You looked at him in amazement. It was the first time Ao'nung called you by name. Not that "Forest Girl" bothered you so much, you were used to it by now. But hearing him say your name had a strange effect on you, even if you still weren't sure what it was.
"Ao'nung" you called him.
There was no hard feelings, you didn't feel annoyed with him for once. You approached him again and smiled at him softly, almost without realizing it.
"Thank you" you told him.
Ao'nung looked at you silently, blinking a few times, but then smiled back. And it wasn't an arrogant smile, it wasn't made to make fun of you. It was the first time you saw him smile genuinely at you. And he had a very beautiful smile.
///
You thought things with Ao'nung had worked out. You thought you both just started off on the wrong foot. Because sometimes, when you happened to be on your own, you would see Ao'nung join you and help you with breathing exercises or to learn sign language. But sometimes you were also limited to just chatting. Sure, every once in a while, you'd both throw teasing jokes at each other, but that wasn't anything new, you'd been insulting each other since the first day you met.
You were glad you finally made peace with him. Tsireya was happy for both of you and believed that maybe something deeper than just friendship could born between you and him. And maybe you were hoping for it too.
Kiri didn't care much about Ao'nung, but if you were happy so was she and Tuk thought the same. Jake and Neytiri were relieved to know that things were going well between you and Tonowari's children. But Neteyam and Lo'ak⌠They weren't convinced of how this story was going at all. And every time they tried to warn you about someone like Ao'nung, you reassured them, telling them there was nothing to worry about and that in any case you could take care of yourself.
You thought you did the right thing defending Ao'nung. But apparently you were wrong.
It happened on a beautiful sunny day.
You and Kiri were together, you sitting along the beach, looking at the landscape and her lying next to you on her stomach, in a small pool of water, looking at the sand below her.
You heard the voices of someone approaching you from behind you and when you turned around you met the gaze of Ao'nung and three other boys.
"Hello Ao'nung" you greeted him cordially, but he looked at you without saying anything.
Meanwhile, one of them indicated Kiri with a hand, laughing under his mustache.
"What is she doing?" he asked chuckling.
"She's looking at the sand" another replied, laughing too.
You pursed your lips, confused. Kiri became aware of their presence and stood to look at them.
"Huh? What did you say?"
Ao'nung leaned forward.
"Are you some kind of... Freak?" he asked bluntly.
"He asked if you're a freak" the one next to him continued.
You opened your mouth, taken aback by their behavior. Kiri however, didn't seem so surprised and stood up.
"No..." she murmured, shaking her head.
You stood up too.
"Hey!" you exclaimed referring to the group. "That's not nice! Why are you treating her like this?"
Kiri tried to get away and Ao'nung walked over to take her hand.
"Look at these hands..." he said.
Kiri abruptly jerked her hand away from his and he tried to grab her again.
"I mean, look at them!"
"Ao'nung!" you called him back again, moving to move in front of Kiri.
You looked into his eyes, not yet understanding why his demeanor seemed so different that day.
"Stop it. What's wrong with you? Why are you acting like this?" you asked him.
Ao'nung narrowed his eyes and seemed to ignore the worried look you had in yours.
"Because that's what you are. A monster" he hissed.
A small gasp left your lips. Usually you didn't get intimidated by those who insulted you, you tended to ignore them or answer back. But in that moment you weren't capable of it.
âYou're so desperate to learn to be like us, but just because you can ride an ilu or you can hold your breath underwater doesn't mean you'll ever be one of us. You wondered if there was something wrong with you, right? Well, yes and it's all of you" he continued.
You felt as if a multitude of daggers were piercing your heart with every word he said. You couldn't explain why it hurt so much. Was it because it was Ao'nung himself who said those sharp words to you, after all the time you had spent together and believing that you had at least become his friend?
"A-Ao'nung... Why are you saying that?" you asked, feeling your bottom lip begin to tremble.
"Because you're different and you have to accept it. You shouldn't be here" he hissed again.
He took a step towards you and you automatically took one back. Kiri watched you with a pitying look and decided that maybe it was better to get away from there. She put a hand on your shoulder, calling you back softly.
"Come on Y/n, let's go"
You nodded, but when you tried to walk away, someone behind you grabbed your tail, giving it a little tug. You let out a little cry, immediately turning away and wagging your tail, to prevent them from touching you again, while they laughed, including Ao'nung.
"They have such a thin tail that it's useless. And their arms are so thin too"
When the other two grabbed your and Kiri's arm, you tried to pull away from their grip.
"Hey!"
You all turned when you heard that voice and while you didn't particularly like the fact that Lo'ak always tended to get into trouble, you were relieved to see him in that moment.
"Back off fishlips"
His small threat, however, was useless because once in the middle of the group, Ao'nung and his friends targeted him as well.
"Another five-fingered freak!" said Ao'nung spreading his arms.
Lo'ak approached him, but one of the other three standing behind him tugged at his tail, as they had done to you.
"Look at his tiny tail!" he exclaimed to tease him.
Lo'ak whirled on him, shoving him away, but he was surrounded. The boys kept touching and mocking him.
"Please stop!" you exclaimed.
"Leave us alone!" Kiri then said.
And finally came the last lifeline to your rescue.
Ao'nung and the others were forced away from Lo'ak abruptly when Neteyam marched furiously towards them and pushed him away from your brother.
"You heard what they said⌠Leave them alone" he said sternly, pointing a finger at him.
"Big brother coming and-" Ao'nung's friend tried taking a step towards him, but Ao'nung blocked him with an arm, making him fall silent.
"Back off" Neteyam continued, gritting his teeth "Now"
Ao'nung said nothing, strangely. He raised his arms and took two steps back as if to show that he had listened to what Neteyam had told him.
"Smart choice" nodded Neteyam, then looked at them one by one. "And from now on, i need you to respect my sisters"
Ao'nung's other friend hissed at him, but Ao'nung shushed him again. Kiri stuck her tongue out at them.
"Let's go" said Neteyam, then he turned to you.
You felt him place one hand on your head and the other on your cheek, while with his finger he wiped away the few tears that had begun to fall from your eyes. Only then you realized that you were crying.
"Hey" he murmured softly. "Are you okay?"
You sniffed and then nodded slightly, looking down. Although you felt slightly embarrassed to know that Ao'nung and the others were watching you cry like a child, you couldn't help but feel reassured by your older brother's protective and affectionate gesture. The same was for what Kiri and Lo'ak had done too, of course.
Before you and your siblings left, you turned to look at Ao'nung one last time. You didn't say anything to him and he too just stared into your eyes. You didn't waste time looking at him with hatred or annoyance, like during your first interactions. You hoped he could read the disappointment in your gaze, but even if he couldn't, you didn't care anymore now.
You all started walking again and in the meantime, Kiri took your hand to comfort you. In the background you heard the voices of Ao'nung's friends mocking you even behind your back.
"Bye-bye!"
"They're all monsters"
"The whole family"
You didn't immediately see Lo'ak stop in his tracks and turn to look at the small group again.
"Lo'ak" Neteyam called to him and he raised a hand.
"I've got this bro"
Lo'ak walked towards Ao'nung.
"I know this hand is funny⌠I'm a freak, alien" he began, making the others chuckle. "But it can do something very cool. Watch..."
Uh oh. Maybe you had an idea of what was to come.
"First i hold it very tight, like this..." he said clenching his hand into a fist. "And then..."
And just as you'd expected, Lo'ak punched Ao'nung straight in the face, then punched him again and again, until he fell to the ground. Ao'nung looked at him with wide eyes, not expecting that reaction.
"It's called a punch, bitch! Never touch my sisters again!" Lo'ak exclaimed.
Ao'nung scrambled to his feet and with a yell threw himself at Lo'ak, followed by the others.
You widened your eyes, scared for him and turned to Neteyam, squeezing his hand.
"Neteyam" you called him worried.
Neteyam flashed you an amused smile and then ran towards the group, joining them. You had hoped he would have intervened to save Lo'ak from that situation, but apparently he had only made it worse. Kiri shook her head in disappointment.
"Stop it! You're just so stupid!" she exclaimed, though she was blatantly ignored.
You didn't like seeing your brothers fight with someone, so you decided that that was your excuse to get away, so you could go to a more secluded place and cry in solitude.
Meanwhile Lo'ak, who was beating one of the four boys, was grabbed by the tail by Ao'nung and another as they tried to drag him away.
"Ow! My tail!"
Lo'ak in turn grabbed the guy he was leading by the ear, dragging him with him.
"My ear! Let go!"
This time Kiri didn't hold back from laughing, but when she tried to look at you to see if you were laughing too, she realized you weren't with them anymore and she went away to come find you and console you.
///
Neteyam and Lo'ak entered the marui, followed by a father who was very annoyed by the news he had just learned.
"What's the one thing i asked? The one thing?" Jake asked, looking at his beaten and scratched children in front of him.
"Stay out of trouble..." Lo'ak murmured.
"Stay out of trouble, right!"
Neteyam tried to step in to ease the situation for Lo'ak.
"It was my fault" he said, but Jake shook his head.
"No i don't think so, you've got to stop taking the blame for this knucklehead"
Lo'ak took a small step forward.
"Look dad, Ao'nung was picking on Kiri and Y/n. Called them names" he said and both brothers noticed Jake's hard expression softening just a little from his displeasure. "And he made Y/n cry"
Jake let out a bitter sigh, lowering his gaze for a few seconds and then returning to look at them.
"How is she?" he asked.
"Kiri went with her" Neteyam replied.
Jake nodded and then looked back at Lo'ak.
"Go apologize to Ao'nung" he said, and Lo'ak looked at him shocked.
"What?"
"He's the chief's son, do you understand? I don't care how you do it, just go and make peace. Hurry"
Lo'ak walked out, head down and shaking in disbelief.
Neteyam also started to follow him, but before leaving he was called back by Jake.
"Hey. So what the other guys look like?" he murmured.
Neteyam looked at him with a small smile that was starting to spread across his lips.
"Worse" he replied.
Jake nodded.
"That's good..."
Neteyam smiled and continued.
"A lot worse"
"Get outta here"
///
You didn't want anything to do with Ao'nung anymore. In fact, you didn't want to stay in that stupid village any longer, whose inhabitants did nothing but look at you badly and judge you for your appearance. You wanted to go home, you wanted to go back to your clan and live the life you loved.
News reached you that when Lo'ak went to apologize to Ao'nung and his goons, they took the opportunity to lure your brother out in the sea and leave him ther. He almost died that day so you lost any last hope you had placed in Ao'nung.
Tsireya ran to apologize to you for all that her brother had done to you and the pain he had caused you, especially in your heart, but you reassured her with a smile, telling her that she didn't have to apologize for him. Apparently Ao'nung was too coward to even try to apologize to you in person. But now it didn't matter to you anymore. If he really thought you were a monster like you already thought you were, then you would have stayed away from him so you wouldn't have bothered him. You had Tsireya, your brothers, your sisters and your parents, you didn't need anyone else.
///
That day the sky was gray and the sun had been covered by a dark cloud, but the water that crashed from the ocean on the shore still had a warm and pleasant temperature in contact with your skin. You just wanted to relax, draw some shape in the sand with your finger and not think about anything.
But of course, your thoughts were abruptly interrupted when an annoying voice called from behind you.
"Hey! Forest-girl!"
Slowly you turned to look at then. They were the three guys who were with Ao'nung on the day they had a fight with your brothers. Ao'nung strangely wasn't with them.
"What do you want?" you asked him bored.
"Ao'nung asked for you" he replied.
You looked at them narrowing your eyes slightly.
"Then why didn't he come here himself?" you asked again.
They rolled their eyes.
"Listen, he said he wants to talk to you, okay? He sent us. So, are you coming or not?"
That seemed suspicious to you. But you had nothing left to lose now, right? And you couldn't rebel against them because otherwise your father would have scolded you. So with a sigh and reluctantly, you rose to follow them.
They went into the water and called for their ilu and so did you. Then you set off in the direction of the reef.
As you reached the area, you looked around. The farther you got from the village, the more you realized you had fallen for their stupid joke, seeing Ao'nung nowhere swimming on his ilu.
"Wow, you guys are so funny, truly..." you said with a sarcastic tone, stopping in you tracks.
When you were about to turn around and go back, you didn't notice that one of them had quickly approached behind you and then pushed you into the water.
As soon as you surfaced you could hear them laughing contentedly, but even before you could yell at them, you saw them taking the reins of your ilu and speeding off.
"See you later forest-girl!" you heard them scream.
"Take a nice swim!"
Their laughter vanished in the distance, as did their figures. You rolled your eyes and cursed them under your breath. Apparently you were supposed to swim all the way to the village, so you set to work.
You weren't in a hurry, a nice swim on your own would have done you good to clear your thoughts, but only after a few minutes did you remember one detail. Which was that your brother Lo'ak almost died swimming in the same area you were now.
Suddenly a great push from beneath you launched you through the air, until you fell back into the water with a scream. Swimming towards the surface you realized that you had just been targeted by an akula, a marine predator of that place.
Shit shit shit!
You began swimming again towards a group of corals, seeking refuge among them. The akula rushed at you and you tried to back away as far as possible, ignoring the scrapes against coral and rocks. After a few seconds, the akula seemed to give up and swim away. Quickly you looked around. It seemed to have disappeared.
You observed the space you had to reach the surface. It wasn't much, but the only thing you could do was get some air, there was no way to run away without that creature reaching you. You looked around one last time. If you could be quick enough to catch even a gulp of air and return to the corals, maybe you had a chance the akula would have got bored of you.
Suddenly the akula himself attacked you from behind and opening its mouth, it tried to bite into the corals you were hiding inside. It couldn't catch you, but one of its sharp teeth managed to graze your arm, making a wound that seemed so large on your thin arm. You squinted, refraining from opening your mouth in a cry of pain, not wanting to waste oxygen. Blood began to flow from your arm, floating next to you.
You swam forward, while the akula chewed on the coral from behind, hoping to catch up with you. Once out, you swam towards the surface as fast as you could, but with the air starting to leave your mouth and nose and the blood pouring, you felt your strength leaving your body. Your mouth opened instinctively and the last bubbles of oxygen came out of it, rising to the top. Your legs slowed down more and more, until they stopped moving.
You didn't have time to think about your family one last time. You only felt your body grow heavy and slowly fall into the depths, while the akula speeding towards you was the last thing you saw before your eyes closed.
///
When Ao'nung came out of his family's marui, after chatting with Tsireya, no, after she had scolded him about the situation with the Sully family, he felt like a small weight on his heart that was growing bigger and bigger until it crushed it.
He didn't quite understand what it was... Was it guilt? For how he had treated you and the cruel words he had spoken to you?
Ao'nung shook his head. No, that's enough, he didn't want to think about it anymore. It was over, there was nothing more to do between the two of you now.
Ao'nung raised his head as he heard the giggles of his friends approaching and he gave them an amused smile too.
"What are you guys laughing at?" he asked.
The three elbowed each other.
"We taught one of the Sully a lesson"
"Lo'ak? Neteyam?" Ao'nung asked confused.
"Nah, the freak girl, the one who gets angry and cries"
Ao'nung felt like a flip to the heart, but one that comes when you only feel fear.
"Y/n... What did you do?" he asked shocked.
"Look Ao'nung, we just did you a favor" replied one of the three.
"She's taking a bath outside the reef right now" the other chuckled.
Ao'nung felt a sudden sense of anger flood his body and he moved closer to them, pushing them back.
"You skxawng! Didn't you learn anything from what happened with Lo'ak?!"
"Ao'nung-" they tried to call him, but he ignored them.
Ao'nung ran to find the Sully siblings. Sooner or later he would have to face your father too, he knew that, but right now he had to ask at least your brothers, or Kiri and Tsireya for help.
He saw all four of them on the beach, Kiri and Tuk were playing together along the shore, while Lo'ak and Neteyam were chatting next to them, leaning against a tree.
"Look who's coming..." Lo'ak said aloud, rolling his eyes.
Kiri watched in confusion as Ao'nung ran towards them. He looked troubled and scared.
"What do you want Ao'nung?" Neteyam asked seriously.
Ao'nung reached him, looking at them one by one.
"You have to help me" he said quickly. "It's about Y/n"
At those words your siblings stood to attention.
"What did you do to her?" hissed Lo'ak, stepping towards him.
"No, not me! There's been an accident and- Listen there's no time! Y/n is in danger, she's outside the reef!"
"What?!" snapped Neteyam and Lo'ak simultaneously.
Kiri covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes widening in fear.
Neteyam walked to Ao'nung and grabbed the necklace around his neck, pulling him towards him.
"Listen to me... Now you and i will go looking for my sister, together" he hissed through clenched teeth. "And she better not be hurt or worse, because otherwise you'll get a punch in the face for every single scratch i'll see on her body. Am I clear?"
Ao'nung nodded, this time really scared by Neteyam's threat. But mostly scared for you.
"Bro, i'm coming with you!" Lo'ak said, following Neteyam and Ao'nung.
"No" Neteyam stopped him. "You risked your life already, Lo'ak. Go with Kiri and Tuk to call our parents. And this time i'll make sure none of us will take the blame for this skxawng"
///
When you opened your eyes again, you thought you'd never see the ocean you believed you'd just died in. A small ripple of water hit your face and you widened your eyes, immediately rolling onto your side to cough and spit out all the water you had swallowed.
Once finished, you took a deep breath to calm down and look around. You were still out in the sea, where Ao'nung's friends had left you. You weren't dead.
A strange noise coming from next to you called your attention and you jumped in surprise when you met the big eye of that beast.
"You are a tulkun" you said in surprise.
The animal seemed to nod its head. You looked below you and noticed that he was propping your body above the water with one of its fins.
"You saved me? Thank you very much"
You threw him a smile, miming the words with your hands to communicate.
"Are you⌠Payakan? Lo'ak's friend?"
The tulkun answered with a positive whine.
"I'm so happy to to meet you. I'm Y/n" you told him, moving your hands. "I'm his sister. Lo'ak spoke very nicely of you"
Payakan closed his eyes, as if he was smiling and you giggled. But then you grimaced when you felt a little jolt of pain go up your arm. The wound caused by the akula was obviously still there and it wouldn't stop bleeding.
"Damn... How am i going to explain this to the others?" you murmured to yourself.
Suddenly you heard voices shouting in the distance. You turned, smiling when you saw the figure of Neteyam on top of his ilu, as he looked around and called your name.
Payakan made a sound and you looked back at him.
"What is it?" you asked him.
Don't tell them you saw me. Only Lo'ak can know.
He said.
You sensed the panic in the way he spoke to you and you nodded sympathetically.
"Alright. Now you are free to go, my brother is coming for me. And thanks again Payakan. Hope to see you again"
Payakan gently slipped you off his fin, then dived under the water and swam away. A few seconds later you were joined by Neteyam and to your surprise you also saw Ao'nung with him.
"Y/n!" Neteyam exclaimed, who immediately extended an arm to help you climb onto his ilu, in front of him.
Before you could leave, Neteyam took the time to look you up and down.
"Are you alright?" he asked frantically, placing a hand on your head and you nodded.
Then his eyes went to rest on the wound on your arm. You saw him turn to Ao'nung, who silently lowered his head a little, under his furious gaze.
"You're bleeding a lot" he said, looking back at you. "We have to go back to the village"
Neteyam wrapped his arm around your waist, making you lean against his body and then quickly set off again towards the village.
Ao'nung was riding with his ilu next to you and for the first time in days you looked into each other's eyes. Neither of you smiled or made another expression. You didn't have the strength and Ao'nung felt inside of him that he didn't deserve it.
You leaned your head back, resting it on your brother's shoulder and closed your eyes, enjoying the ride and not thinking about the burning in your arm.
///
When you returned to the village, your families plus some clan members had gathered on the beach, awaiting your return. As soon as your feet touched the beach, you saw your siblings running towards you.
"Y/n!" Tuk exclaimed, hugging your legs and you smiled, stroking her shoulder, then falling into Kiri's embrace.
Lo'ak gave you a relieved smile.
"I'm so glad you're okay" he said and you chuckled.
"I have a few things to tell you later," you whispered, letting only him hear it and Lo'ak shot you a smirk.
"Oh, my daughter"
You looked up, meeting your mother's concerned eyes. Neytiri approached you quickly, placing her hands on your cheeks and moving her eyes on every part of your face.
"We were so worried," she said hastily, bringing her face in to kiss your forehead and then your nose.
"I'm fine mom" you said to reassure her, placing a hand on top of hers.
Finally, you saw your father let out a sigh of relief, even though a tinge of anxiety and fear still tinged his eyes. He placed a hand on your head, caressing you gently and then gave you a small kiss on the temple.
"Not even Eywa herself can explain how my kids always get into trouble with sea monsters" he said and you all chuckled.
Behind your parents' back you saw Tsireya approaching with a smile, happy that you were okay and you reciprocated the gesture.
"Dad" Tuk called, pointing to your arm. "Y/n's bleeding"
Jake nodded and looked at Kiri.
"You've got this?" he asked her.
Kiri nodded and took your hand to lead you to your marui, accompanied by Tuk and Tsireya. Before leaving with them, you turned just in time to see Tonowari and Ronal advancing towards your family, with Ao'nung standing a few steps behind them.
"Ao'nung," Tonowari said sternly. "We need to talk"
Ao'nung nodded with the head down and followed his father.
Ronal turned to look at the small group of Ao'nung's companions, the main cause of all that mess.
"You all too" she added, nodding them the way.
The three followed the Tsahik with their tails between their legs, as you and the girls made your way to your home.
///
The sun had now set and the stars had begun to appear in the sky, now free from those ugly gray clouds.
When Ao'nung came out of his marui for last, following his friends, he expected to see anyone but you.
Yet there you were. With your head down and your eyes watching your feet move nervously, while with your hand you were squeezing the injured arm, now covered by an ointment and a bandage.
When you became aware of his presence you looked up at him, looking at him almost shyly.
"Hey..." you began uncertainly. "Um... Can we talk?"
Ao'nung licked his lips, which suddenly seemed to be dry because of the anxiety. Did you really want to talk to him?
Before he could answer, another voice broke into your conversation, making you both jump.
"Y/n, what are you doing here? Mom said you should rest"
You turned to Lo'ak, flashing him a slight smile.
"Could you give me five minutes? I just want to talk to Ao'nung. In private"
Lo'ak frowned, slightly annoyed. When he was about to argue, someone grabbed his hand and he turned around, seeing Tsireya's sweet smile.
"Let them talk"
Lo'ak snorted and then looked at Ao'nung.
"Five minutes" he just said and Ao'nung nodded as he watched your brother and his sister walk off together.
You and Ao'nung also moved to a slightly more secluded spot, so that no one, especially your families, could hear your conversation.
At first you were both silent for a few seconds, not knowing how to begin. Then you took a breath and opened your mouth, at the same time as Ao'nung did too.
"I'm sorry" you chorused.
You looked at each other and your lips curved slightly upwards.
"Why did you apologize?" he asked slightly confused.
You shrug.
"I don't know, it just seemed like the right thing to say... I mean, the first few times we spoke i always treated you badly and thought you were an idiot. And then i ignored you all this time. It's just that..."
You sighed.
"Ao'nung, why did you act so cruel that day? I just want to understand this... What have we done to you? Why do you hate us so much? Why do you hate me so much?"
This time it was Ao'nung's turn to sigh.
"I don't hate you guys. I... I don't hate you, Y/n"
You remained silent letting him speak.
"I don't hate any of you. I don't know exactly why i acted that way, okay? I don't know⌠I'm just like that, i like to tease people. But I've never been so mean, believe me. It's just that it all happened so fast, one day you and your family arrived here unannounced and i immediately took the opportunity to make fun of you a little. Perhaps it was the fact that i was forced to teach you how to live like us or that i didn't like you right away... I don't know, i was so annoyed about it! And then when your brothers and i fought i was angry with them and took revenge on Lo'ak"
"And why did you insult me so heavily that day? Why did you seem proud of making fun of me? Hadn't we become friends? Why did everything change from one day to the other?" you murmured sadly.
"It wasn't my intention to hurt you so much. The words were out of my mouth before my brain could stop them, i was too wrapped up in the situation. Maybe i was really tired of spending all my time with you Sullys and i wanted to let you know in a direct way. And maybe i thought i was better than you, but i showed it in the most wrong way. And then there were my friends, i probably acted like that just so they wouldn't make fun of me"
You nodded slowly, lowering your head.
"I understand" you muttered.
"Y/n"
You raised your head, seeing Ao'nung take a step towards you.
âI'm sorry. I'm sorry about everything. What happened today wasn't my fault, really. I knew i already hurt you emotionally, i never wanted you to end up in danger like your brother. I was so worried when the others told me what they had done"
"It's over now" you said, with a light smile. "I'm fine, that's what matters, isn't it?"
Ao'nung said nothing and looked down, clenching his fists.
"Ao'nung" you called back and he looked at you.
"Yes?"
You sighed.
"You shouldn't change your nature just to look good in front of your friends. Because if they really are your friends, then they should accept you for who you are. You shouldn't hurt other people for their own taste, if you do not you agree"
Ao'nung nodded solemnly, he felt ashamed to hear your words.
"You're right, sorry. And i'm sorry for Kiri too"
You shook your head with a slight smile.
"She and i have already forgiven you, but i can't say the same about Neteyam and Lo'ak. And maybe not even my father"
At those words Ao'nung's eyes widened slightly.
"Do you forgive me? Really?" he asked shocked.
You nodded.
"I admit that while i was sad about what you did, i was also sad that you and i were no longer spending time together. Because i enjoyed being with you, Ao'nung"
Ao'nung smiled.
"I enjoyed being with you too. I didn't want to admit it to myself, but my heart ached when i didn't see you. I wanted to come and apologize to you, but i was scared and gave up, because i thought you didn't want to talk to me anymore or see me"
"Well, i'm here now, am i not?" you asked, opening your arms and he nodded in amusement.
You giggled for a few seconds until you squeezed your fingers nervously.
You began to feel your face warm up and your heart beat faster.
"Ao'nung," you muttered. "Would it be strange if i said that... That i see you?"
You stared into each other's eyes and Ao'nung shook his head, smiling at you sweetly.
"No, it's not weird. Because i see you too, Y/n"
"Really?" you asked him.
Ao'nung nodded and took your hand, intertwining your fingers. You had four of them, like Ao'nung, like Neteyam, Tuk and your mother, but even if you had had five like humans, he didn't care anymore.
"I knew it when i found out you were risking danger out of the reef. I was worried and afraid of losing you before i could apologize to you and put my heart at rest"
You smiled brightly and raised your joined hands, to bring his to cover your cheek, rubbing your skin against his palm.
"Oel ngati kameie (i see you), Ao'nung"
"Oel ngati kameie, Y/n"
You stared at each other with loving and tender gazes in silence for some seconds until you were forced to jerk away in fright, because someone loudly interrupted you.
"Okay, that's enough! More than five minutes have passed!" Lo'ak exclaimed, clapping his hands.
You rolled your eyes, turning to watch Lo'ak walking towards you, accompanied by Neteyam. Behind them Tsireya, Kiri and Tuk were giggling.
"It's time to go to sleep, little sister" Neteyam said, coming up behind you and placing one hand on your head, while with the other he pointed to your bandaged arm. "And that wound needs rest to heal"
You nodded and then you flashed a smile at Ao'nung.
"See you tomorrow morning?" you asked him and he nodded.
"Absolutely"
"Absolutely not" Lo'ak said, stepping between the two of you.
You crossed your arms with a smile.
"Lo'ak, you realize we all live in the same village, yes? I'd say it's impossible not to run into each other" you said and he shook his head quickly.
"As long as i'm here i won't let you stay glued to his fishy ass all day"
"Lo'ak!" you exclaimed.
Neteyam chuckled, while Ao'nung rolled his eyes.
You sighed, running a hand over your face.
"Can we go now?" you asked them in exasperation.
"One last thing"
Neteyam raised a finger, stepping past you to go in front of Ao'nung.
"I was good to you and i didn't punch you like you should have gotten today. But if you make my sister suffer like that again, i'll make sure you get what you deserve. Chief's son or not, i don't care about the consequences"
"The same goes for me, anyway" Lo'ak added, holding up a hand.
Ao'nung shook his head and raised his arms.
"You've already given me that talk. I got the message" he said in a mock bored tone and you smiled.
"Good" the two brothers chorused and then Neteyam took you by the hand, starting to walk towards your house, Lo'ak next to you.
You turned one last time to look at Ao'nung.
"Goodnight Ao'nung"
Ao'nung raised his arm, waving at you and giving one of his usual smirk.
"Goodnight forest-girl. And don't forget, if we want to meet, make sure that those skxawng brothers of yours don't get in the way"
Lo'ak whirled on him.
"Hey!" he exclaimed, but you and Neteyam each grabbed him by the arm.
"Let's go Lo'ak!" you both exclaimed at the same time.
As you walked back to your house, Tuk squeezed your hand, while Tsireya grabbed Lo'ak's arm. Kiri and Neteyam walked next to you.
"Neteyam?" you called him suddenly, after something came to your mind.
"Mh?"
"What were you talking about when you told Ao'nung about the punches you should have given him today?"
Neteyam shrugged with a smile.
"Nothing you haven't heard me say when i threaten someone"
You rolled your eyes with a sigh.
"You are incorrigible," you murmured, shaking your head.
Lo'ak smirked at you.
"And you are our sister. You should know us better than anyone"
Never meant to be
Sully family & Sully! Fem/Pronouns Reader
Words: 6,358
Summary: It does not matter who's fault it is right now. You're gone, it won't be the same any more. In the way to your eternal rest, memories come out and fill the sad enviroment.
Written Curse: Use of (__)-Third person- I'm not an english native speaker so I support on translators!--Sorry for any mistake-- I tried to relate the stories with something of the funeral and scenes before, I hope it makes sense. I hope this is sad/angst but fluff too. -(__) has different ages in each memory. 6 months for this is pretty wild. See ya Darlings!
It was weak but it was still there, the lullaby made by the waves, accompanying those who were grieving. The water a little warmer but cold for the Sullys, burning their skin as memories flowed over the surface of the reflecting form.
Her body floating softer now it was lifeless, being encapsulated between large leaves and flowers, taken away from the village to a place unknown to all of them even after living there for weeks; there was not their home, not with pain clouding their senses. She's not coming back and it will be a long road before they can be together again.
_________________________
Kiri did her best to find a flower that only grew in remote places and very well hidden ones. She spent her days trying, but it seemed she would not succeed and that frustrated her. Everyone noticed this and asked her if there was anything they could do, she simply said it was nothing and continued with her tasks.
One night, after noticed how distracted she was, again, (__) talked with Mo'at about the matter.
Reaching the tent after dinner, (__) announced herself before entering given the permission to, she greeted with her hand raising and descending --I see you, grandmother-- Mo'at reciprocated --I see you granddaughter,What brings you on these sides? You havenât come here for a long time-- She grabbed a few herbs putting them in a bag to direct her attention to collect others, without taking off the eyes of them she heard --I know Grandma, Iâm sorry-- (__) squatted and then took a more comfortable position.
--But Kiri has been different these days-- Now the tsahik turned to look in her direction with the same calm as she crouched down --different?-- she placed the herbs in a bowl and began to grind them for a few seconds neither of them spoke, concentrating on how the bundle turned into a pasty mixture, the sound of fire breaking the wood causing their ears to move, --And havenât you thought about asking her?-- This question sounded very innocent but it was obvious how sarcastic too, --Of course Grandma!, but she didnât say anything-- Moâat stopped grinding and her eyes met those of (__) raising her eyebrows and tilting her head a bit --And I should know--.
With her ears pressed to her head she answered almost whispering --maybe-- but quickly continued --She spends a lot of time training and healing with you-- at the end the eldest shook her head laughing a little --You care too much granddaughter of mine-- And she went on to mix it again --If it helps you and Kiri, I think I know whatâs going on. I told her about a very rare ingredient that I use in several of my mixes, but I no longer have it and I have not been able to find any, not even the pickers-- when she finished and saw that the texture was the best she stopped and picked up a few rags.
At the same time (__) came closer to her --How is it?-- Mo'at could see the determination in her eyes, after thinking a little about whether to tell her or not, she gave in and then gave her the details of said flower.
The days passed, (__) spent less time in the clan returning untidy and sometimes with cuts. Something that worried the Sullyâs, another girl who behaved differently than usual, but this would not last long.
Kiri tended to several with their wounds, focused on making the right moves and putting in the right amounts that ignored a figure who walked beside her and sat a few feet away from her. Â Moâat, who was attending to another naâvi, spoke --When you finish with him, take care of your sister, I have already done it too much--- So Kiri looked up, first to her grandmother who with some seriousness saw (__) then to the same one who offered a small embarrassed smile lowering her gaze.
Without saying anything and keeping her eyes for a few more seconds she continued to heal the wound. At the end she grabbed her things and went with her older sister observing those that required more attention first --what happened this time?-- (__) frowned trying to disguise the satisfaction of the task that left her in such a state --MH?-- Kiri exhaled somewhat tired --You know what I mean and donât try to deny it (__)--She ran her fingers through the mix and spread it on the first wound getting a few moans of pain --Didnât you think about what might happen to you?-- Turning her eyes for the scolding she opened his mouth for the first time to speak not before making other sounds for the burning --Mom and Dad already scolded me enough ⌠Iâm fine, Thank you--. Kiri quickly took her arm and extended it so that she and her sister could see it and bending over to see her face. --Is this being fine?-- --Kiri-- now (__) had a tired tone, Kiriâs uneasy face relaxed and looking for her sisterâs look tried to be more delicate --What do you think you were doing?-- Studying her face a little and looking for the words to explain herself and make the surprise a good surprise --Little sister it won't happen again-- --I hope so-- she returned to focus her attention on the wounds --If you continue this strange, I will be the one who will have to take care of you--.
--Now I am the one who acts weird?-- Again they connected glances but Kiri shook her head and attended another cut --I donât know what youâre talking about-- (__) brought her face closer to hers --Really?-- --Ugh-- she took some bands and wrapped them around her sister's arm --You are the one who is acting weird Iâm fine-- (__) nodded slowly with lips a little pressed but her tail somewhat restless, her head looking at some shops began her âlittle planâ --TUK!-- Without turning but her eyes focused on Kiri continued with a smile forming --Then I think Iâll have to see what I do with all this-- The steps became more audible as they got closer, soon after Tuktirey appeared holding a basket --Hi Kiri!-- When she was close she extended the basket, when she took it, the little Tuk just as she came she went --Goodbye Kiri!-- with some caution she opened the lid to meet several flowers, the same that she spent many days searching without success Her mouth opened a little, her eyes opened a little more, after a few seconds she looked at (__) with the same expression and then at Moâat --she is quite persuasive, as stubborn-- with bowl in hand went to her tent. --And?-- Her face full of happiness and fun for Kiri's attitude, but only received a slap on the face --Auch!, what was that for?-- --For being a skxawng-- With hands running her arm and without erasing that smile from her face --I can show you where there are more-- taking the basket and putting it in another place she observed them for another time --they are beautiful ⌠I like them-- (__) confessed --Thank you-- softening her expression --It is nothing Kiri, anything for my siblings-- now it was Kiri's mouth that curved to share the smile.
Kiri sat next to (__) and laid her body and head on hers. --I think you better collect more, grandmother will reproach you every time you approach to her the times she has had to attend you--. She exhaled amused since it was most likely --as you say-- her posture became rigid and made a military signal that her father had taught them. Giving another pat but on the back of the neck she rolled her eyes without losing her smile --I'll reserve some for you, you'll need them-- --You talk like I'm always in trouble-- her tail moved as she remembered the many times her brother had gotten in trouble and where she had to heal him.
--You behaved like loâak--. Kiri felt (__)âs head lying on hers, she closed her eyes and (__) answered --Thatâs why you scolded me? I am older, I am the one who should scold you--.
--I was worried-- settling more into the gap that she had in the neck of (__) and her chest, focused on listening to her heart. --You donât need to worry about me-- and neither said anything, enjoying each otherâs company. Kiri then thanked the great mother for giving her the family she has, for the support and love they gave her and give her, for being in the here and now. Her arms encircled her sister's figure and hers her shoulders.
The cold wind caressed the face of Loâak who was still sleeping, the external activity diluted in his listening announced the morning, feeling the lack of body heat at his side, it took him a while to open his eyes that to his surprise the light was already abundant, he stretched as much as he could, he left his resting place and went to breakfast.
When he arrived he was greeted by his family, first by his mother who stretched his arm to his head and kissed it, then by his father --Did you sleep well son?-- Jake asked by taking a piece of food and Loâak settling down next to his mother and Neteyam answered --Yes Father-- by bowing he grabbed a few pieces of food, leaving no room for further conversation (__) continued to swaying and asking --Daaaaaaddd pleaasseeee--.
Neytiri, who helped Tuk to eat, replied --(__), your father already told you no-- with this the girl made a few grimaces, without stopping her action her dad interfered --What will you do there?-- Before answering Neteyam spoke --She's going with a boooyyy-- he didn't dissimulate the smile and immediately made sounds to imitate kisses --Puagh! I'm not!-- with disgust she pulled out her tongue while the other children laughed but her mother looked at them to stop and so they did but in a while the ones emerged a little, --Very good, but you take your brother, today Kiri and Neteyam have their trainings-- As if she had never been sitting, she started jumping around and then hugging her dad for a long time, --Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you-- and hastily sat down to eat, with a small look at Loâak. Neytiri who at that time had finished eating and was now focused on Tuk saw Jake with a smile that he tried to hide when he saw her along with Mo'at.
When they finished eating Loâak and (__) went to the spring, the wet grass as well as the weather made the road lighter, concentrated in the view that although it was not possible to see beyond 4 meters was abundant, the sounds of his own steps, insects or even the wind was enough to relax the little one and make his body feel sleepy but the grip of (__) hand with his hand was enough to keep walking. After several moments of the walk the water hitting and joining with another was already heard as well as several laughs and other movements.
Loâak watched his sister dive more and more into the spring, from time to time pouring water or dipping her head. --Loâak! Come!-- (__) called her brother with a sign, the one who was sitting playing with some toys just shook his head and continued with his game, the water was too cold for his taste but, (__) wouldn't take a no for an answer, she had come to have fun and wanted her brother to do it too. But as soon as she thought of something to convince the child she would enjoy the spring.
Dipping and dipping she noticed a close flash, curiously she approached, came out of the water to take a breath of air and dive again, extending her left hand and grabbing the object. This moved a little, when she opened her mouth by the surprise she had to leave to not take or breathe the water. --Loâak! Loâak!-- He raised his head and saw his sister walking quickly towards him. --Come, look what I found!-- Her face no longer reflected surprise but joy like her body language, again shook his head --I don't want-- (__) clasped her hands together and asked again --Come on Lo'ak! If you do then I'll play with you whatever you want, but come-- thinking about it for a few seconds, he accepted and took the hand of (__).
When he touched the water he moved back a little by the temperature but his sister gave him a squeeze with her hand and a look to encourage him, as he walked more and the water reached his torso he had already become accustomed to the cold. When they got to a certain point they stopped, the elder pointed her head and spoke --There it is, ready?-- She noisily breathed in and waited a little for Loâak to do the same, in doing so they both put their heads in and with their eyes wide open they searched for what had excited his sister so much.
When he saw a little figurine of pastel colors and that with the passing light shone, as (__) he tried to touch it, but when his hands did he felt a peculiar texture, without having the same reaction, he only pulled his hand and watched the little figure come out antennae and move slowly on the rock on which it rested.
It was a snail he had never seen before, a very nice one, smiling he came out to breathe and began to laugh, next door his sister saw him and just imitated him. Already in a less deep place both walked looking at the rocks and stones below and the leaves that had fallen and floated aimlessly, some of the naâvi were no longer there, they had returned to the clan so it was calmer.
As the child that is Loâak it occurred to him that it would be fun to surprise his sister. As slow as he could was approaching (__), he bent down and her hands formed small spaces, when she turned to hear her brother approach she was greeted by nonstop water splashes with laughter, she tried to shelter her face with her arms but it was quite difficult so she decided to fight back, thus initiating a battle that neither of them would be willing to lose.
Hours later the only thing they did was rest, when one said they had given up and the other believed they took advantage to throw water again, the other did it too. Her hair moved according to the waves, as did her garments that barely floated. The light was dim by the leaves that covered the spring.
Looking at her face, Loâak appreciated every detail of her sister, even how serene she was even seemed to have fallen asleep. Almost as a sigh Loâak said her name, she opened her eyes and waited --I thought you were sleeping-- she shook her head. --It is better that we go to the clan, surely we have passed the food-- Turning a little leaning on her knee and squeezing her hair to remove the excess water, his brother did the same and taking by the hand they collected the toys to leave.
Back his head followed a thought that had formed at breakfast time, at his fatherâs condition and decided to clarify it even if it hurt his feelings, --(__), did you want to come with me?-- For the sudden question she stopped the steps, the sister who saw the face of her brother understood what he meant --Hey⌠why wouldnât I want? with brothers as âcoolâ as you-- she broke her grip and swirled his hair with a smile before it got serious --I'm here Lo'ak, ok?-- without much thought he nodded.
They grabbed hands again and continued their way home without looking back.
Neytiri had already finished several of her tasks for the day, one of her last was to go hunting, walking among the hammocks and some roots she carried her bow and arrows with constant step, the eclipse was approaching remarkably so it was necessary to get something before the night covered every corner of the forest.
Before she could completely leave the clan and call her ikranâs attention, she was attracted by a creak that frightened her, turning around quickly she found nothing less than her eldest daughter holding her own bow, her own eyes open --sorry ma, I didn't mean to scare you-- calming down immediately she signalized to her to approach her --what happened darling?-- slowly shook her head as she shortened the distance, arriving Neytiri surrounded with her arm the head of (__) charging it at the end of her collarbone --no, I just wondered if... could I go with you?-- --Nothing would make me more happy-- before continuing she separated a little to take her face in her hands and observe it a while --My great hunter is not yet big enough to think that hunting with her mother is thing of the past-- the cheeks of (__) warmed up to remember how those last weeks she was alone or with other young naâvi --mom!!-- a smile crossed by both in a moment, --It is better that we go at once-- without another word they walked until they reached the place that seemed right to them and called their ikran.
Already in the place that Neytiri had planned both began with the task, as cautious as possible they roamed the forest, tracking and following the chosen prey.
The rope was stretched until the arm reached its ideal point, the tip centered in the sight and with one last breath her hand released the rope, the arrow accompanied by another giving in different objectives, without wasting time they approached and performed the prayer.
--You have improved a lot in your aim-- --Thank you-- when she met her eyes her mother nodded --when the time comes you will take my fatherâs bow-- (__) who was preparing the animals to be loaded stopped the action taking again her eyes to those of Neytiri with disbelief --But Mom-- Neytiri interrupted --A bow must be strong, endure all the times it is used and those that do not, the person who wears it must be as strong as one, is one more part of who wears it; just as important as the heart, it is decided-- she finished preparing the animals herself, turning just to make her posture clearer, (__) nodded and then helped with what remained to be done.
On the flight back, the girl's mind wondered why that decision, despite being honored and happy she was also confused and even a little worried because that bow was one of the few things that her mother kept from her own father and therefore from her old home but she would not question it otherwise as it was what her mother wanted.
After dinner averyone went to their hammocks to sleep and be ready for the next day, including the Sullyâs, each to their respective but before Neytiri could go with Jake, her daughter asked to talk to her.
Already set aside for others to rest, (__) sat on a rock and waited for the moment she thought was most appropriate to ask by tilting her head a little towards Neytiri --how was my grandfather?-- She stood behind (__), she took a great inhalation as soon as she sat next to her, looked at the stars standing still in the sky, --He was one of the strongest people I have ever met, wise and determined, even though Oloeyktan, he was someone who inspired confidence, love.-- The memories crossed her mind good and not so good but made tears find place in her eyes --Sometimes you look a lot like him, I'm sure he would be very proud of all of you.--
(__) In her periphery saw how her mother's face changed according to her emotions, her hand rested on top of hers --so would he be with you-- Neytiri turned her head to see (__) that she did not look at her directly swallowed saliva and tried to say something, she took off her tears with her hand --I wish it was, it is time for us to return-- and so they did.
Before (__) lay in her hammock she pulled Neytiri into a big hug putting her ear on her chest --rest ma, see you tomorrow-- with a kiss on the crown of her head for the last time she spoke -- you too, âiteâ-- thatâs how the night ended, the clan resting quietly.
The bows rested one above the other in their designated place waiting for another use, while dreams visited everyone, Neytiri dreamed of her father, she was again a girl and he was as always a great man.
The little Tuk ran from one side to another screaming, the naâvi and people around her gave small glimpses toward her direction somewhat confused by her actions, as she stopped she turned around with her eyes going through every possible corner, attentive to any suspicious movement. But for a while there was no action to alert Tuk, for a moment her face was covered in confusion.
But as she let her guard down, two arms surrounded her figure â-I got you!-- Tuk shouted again but it was mixed with laughter --not true!-- And tried to break free repeatedly until she gave up, when (__) let her go, she resumed her escape --Hey, that's not fair-- she shouted but the girl ignored and kept running toward the tent of the whole family, with the things that were there she tried to hide and keeping silent, she waited.
After several minutes she heard as someone approached and entered the tent, holding her breath she watched as the naâvi moved to the other side, thatâs when Tuk noticed that it was not (__).
But loâak who squatted and pulled something out of a basket, but when he stood and turned around he realized that the little girl was in the same space, carrying a scared look for a moment he asked --what are you doing?-- --Shh-- without being quiet, Lo'ak asked again, raising his voice --Shhhh!,What do you not see that I am hiding?-- he immediately answered --No-- and without further, he left the tent.
Other minutes passed and Tuk was already more than bored, she thought that, since (__) had not entered there perhaps she had forgotten their game and that she could already leave and not worry too much so she did but as she walked toward the entrance she didn't notice the shadow that was expected on the cloth of the store, When she left, she was back between two arms, the same ones that had imprisoned her moments before â I knew you were here-- --(__)!-- She laughed a little, --I win-- at that moment she let go of her, but the girl didnât move from her side-- itâs not true, you cheated, that doesnât count-- Tuk pressed her lips and changed her posture so that her sister knew how she was feeling.
--Cheated? How I cheated?-- Her tone of voice reflected the confusion she presented at what her younger sister said --surely you pretended that you forgot that we were playing to distract me and sure Loâak told you where I was-- Now she was the biggest grimace â I didnât forget anything and Loâak hasnât even spoken to me since breakfast -- Tukâs tail stopped moving abruptly, his ears just as still â really?-- -- promise TukTuk-- she took a hand to her heart to make it better understood what she was telling the truth, Tuk seemed quite satisfied with that and she accepted it --thatâs good because others usually do it when we play--. So (__) knelt down to level with her sister and seeing her in the eyes --then I promise I will never forget when we play together-- Tuk smiled and with his hand imitated her sisterâs previous action --And I⌠promise⌠never forget anything-- ----what?-- The expression was funny because of her sisterâs somewhat vague promise --Yes, I will never forget anything, nor of this-- raising an eyebrow the kneeling Sully asked --Really? Then I hope you never forget that I am your sister-- she composed her posture rolling her eyes--it seems that Loâak and Kiri already did-- the latter was more for herself but Tuk managed to hear and laughed, without saying anything else they heard how her mother called them to eat, --Yeah, i promise--
Neteyam had finished his practices for the day so he decided to go and walk to relax, he knew that his father expected that when he finished he would immediately return to the clan, half a year ago that the people of heaven had returned and Jake was more strict and hard on them, plus he was busier. So he tried his best not to stress his father and make him proud, just like anyone, he needed time to rest.
So thinking of returning to the clan before worrying anyone, he went on his way, observing the flora and fauna, eating from the fruit he found, memorizing the parts of the forest where he was. After a long time he remembered what he had planned watching as he was close the eclipse ran as fast as he could as his ikran was not close. When he arrived and was under the camp he called his ikran in a hurry, without having stepped on, first he heard the cry of his father and then his figure approaching with tense posture â-did you already realize the time you arrive!?-- --Iâm sorry, sir.-- But this response only seemed to infuriate Jake who immediately thought of some punishment for his eldest son â-A sorry doesnât help me when you donât even seem to care!-- Neteyam lowered his head, biting his tongue to the point of drawing some blood.
What else could he say? He knew that if he told the truth he would only make things worse and if he didn't say anything else he would take his father out of his boxes, at that time to remain silent and Jake's to wait, (__) approached knowing what was going on from her fatherâs screams, and to try to help, she spoke â-Neteyam, did you get the stones?-- both turned to see her confused --What do you mean sweetheart?-- asked Jake, for a second the ears of (__) went down but quickly replied --an apology father, I asked Neteyam some things for a project I have-. --And the stones?-- Jake turned to Neteyam who stuttered a bit trying to give an answer that was credible â- I didnât find any special for (__), sorry --Do not worry brother, another day will beâ- with some doubt and without discomfort already some Jake accepted the fact and left everything with a warning that they should always warn with issues like this to avoid worries --it will not happen again father--, -It better not-.
When Jake disappeared from their field of vision, Neteyam spoke -â why do you lie to him? You shouldnât have done that-â something tired (__) put her hands on her brotherâs shoulders --did you see how he was? He almost takes your teeth out one by one-- he sighed â anyway, that was wrong â with one hand he pushed the hands away from (__) -- when he finds out that I never looked for anything, what will we do?-- She raised an eyebrow â what else could we do? Tomorrow you bring me any stone and I will pretend that I loved itâFor a moment, Neteyam watched his sister in disbelief. Had she lied before? --We wonât do that-- she escoffed, --As you wish, so what do you suggest?-- --We wonât do anything, this was my fault.-- (__) turned her eyes and before turning around she said, --very well-- and finally marched to leave Neteyam with his thoughts.
The next morning, as if he was not between his fatherâs expectations, he woke up late, possibly it was already noon. He rushed out to apologize and start his arc practices immediately. But Jake did not recriminate anything, to the surprise of the boy and his mother - thank (__) who warned me of your great ability, this day you can rest as much as you want but I will not allow it to always be that way, did you hear boy?-- --Yes, father, thank you very much-- without further ado, he did. In the night when he saw the eldest, he thanked her but she shook her head and with a confessed smile â you earned it â she shook her brotherâs head and finished ânow rest Teyâ âyou too (__)--. And with that they went to sleep without seeing eachother in the eyes.
It had been a busy day but full of fun and new discoveries with his friends, his family. Removing the mask that helped him move in Pandora, Spider opened the second control door, when Norm entered he received it as usual.
--Hello Spider! How did everythin went?-- --It was great Norm, Kiri showed me plants I had never seen before and then with Lo'ak, Neteyam and (__) we went to explore a place she found, There were a lot of bugs and they ate some-â Spider only laughed at what happened as they had also joked with each other but Norm made an expression of disgust thinking about their texture and taste --Very well I do not want to know more details, Go take a shower so we can eat-â Spider breathed out his shoulders and walked down heavily to where the showers were --ok-- without having moved too far he stopped and without losing another second he passed his hands on Normâs clothes and ran to his room --Spider!-- he shouted with his hands outstretched seeing the dirt and what looked like drool on his shirt and some of his pants, with a sigh of defeat he went to change and make Spider bath.
Well into the night and after having dined Spider lay on his bed, just below Norm's and before he went up the boy asked why he never learned the ways of the Omaticaya to be one of them, he settled on the edge of the bed --well-- he squeezed his lips --Jake was the first, he was taught as he was not a scientist and I was a little jealous- Spider curved an eyebrow --Something?-- Norm frowned --Don't you believe me?-- The boy shook his head and denied, Norm forrowed his eyebrows and nodded slowly --I guess I was very jealous, I had spent many years learning so that someone who barely knew what photosynthesis was or knew what skxanwngg meant would have been accepted into the clan⌠but then Grace and I had the opportunity to live with the Omaticaya, everything seemed to improve.
After the war I still had the opportunity to ask and more with Jake being Oloeytktan but at that time I realized that it was really not something that was for me... plus-- he shook the hair of Spider --Someone has to take care of you-- --The other guys take care of me too-- he moved his hand away from himself --Yes, but I'm the one who does it most of the time-- Spider was silent thoughtfully and yawned, --I guess-- Norm shook his head with a smile, --Good night kiddo-- --Good night Norm--.
The next day Spider went out again to meet the Sully's near a river, even if (__) did not arrived yet he and the others started playing, Neytiri and Jake watching them, for a while they chased, they swooped down and the boy pulled their tail until being a little calmer the mud hit them right on their faces, with their mouths wide open they saw that the cause was her older sister --(__)!-- the children shouted while she laughed, they took off the mud and began to grab more.
When she saw this her tail tightened and ran away as quickly as possible --don't run coward!-- Loâak shouted --try to catch me fools!-- and as the challenge that was all came out shot in her direction â children!-- They barely heard how Jake called them, but they continued as they knew she would not return until it was safe and accelerated the pace further, just as if they were for the prey that runs away from the hunter. They all took different routes, Spider running on the ground just like Kiri, while Loâak and Neteyam took their route on the tree branches.
The further they advanced Spider recognized the way as he and Loâak sometimes passed by and had even made a shorter path, so he took it for the sake of everyoneâs revenge.
After running a little more he managed to see the figure of (__) that now ran less, so as not to frighten her or to make her notice his presence he slowed down until he only gave step by step with caution when she had stopped completely, examining her surroundings for any alert that her siblings were nearby, she took a long time to notice Spider as lightning came out at her, when she did it was already falling and being muddy --Spider!-- (__) she shouted before removing the child next to her and the mud, when she stood up she asked --Do you think it's funny?-- --It is--Spider smiled and she gave him a bitter one, before he could walk a few beads and ties fell to the ground, as if she had never been blue (__) she felt the blood leaving her body --what is that?-- --Nothing-- she wanted to pick them up but Spider had already done it with some --this is for a songcord-- without being able to lie (__) exhaled and sat on the wet ground nearby,he did the same, she extended her hands to him and spoke --it's yours-- Spider remained silent for a while --mine?-- She nodded --I thought maybe you could make your own cord, I wanted it to be a surprise-- -- but I am not a na'vi -- she immediately answer -- you are, You are na'vi as much as me or my mother and every na'vi has their songcord-- she tilt her head to him grab the beads and the ties in her big hands and so he did --If you want I can help you--without giving answer Spider stood and hugged with all his streght to (__) who received it --Thank you.--
The sound of creaking branches and moving plants reached the ears of both who with just a glance and a smile grabbed mud and ran out to the cause of the noise.
Days later Norm analyzed samples when Spider passed at great speed but he noticed something hanging from the boy's waist, a musical string.
The flora illuminated the night landscape in different colors, occasionally reacting to the outside activity of the still awake animals. In a hammock several meters from the ground one family rested peacefully, huddled on top of the other.
However one of the dreams was interrupted, Jake felt how some hands grabbed his arm and in periods squeezed or shook it but the state in which he was not paying much attention to this until he heard whispers calling him. He slowly opened his eyes until he got used to the darkness, highlighting the figure of his older daughter who was closer than he expected. Clearing his throat he spoke in a low voice so as not to disturb anyone else -- What happened my child?-- regulating her tone to her father's and without letting go -- I had a nightmare--
--Oh really?-- (__) nodded â And what was it about?-- -â We were in the mountains and mom and you were flying but I didnât, so I wanted to fly and I tried to get on an ikran but none wanted and then â her tail swung in times â you left and I wanted to fly alone so you wouldnât left me-- Still sleepy he listened to the story of his daughter that seemed to have really affected him since also the grip of his hands on his arm increased and decreased as it did.
-But I didn't fly-Focusing as much as possible on her even that it would not make much difference, he placed one of his hands on the girl's head to move her until he caressed her cheek. --And why did we leave without you?-- (__) moved her eyes until they reached their limit when thinking about it for a while --I don't know, but I didn't like it, you wouldn't leave me, right?-- Without taking away any of his hands that touched them both, surely Jake spoke --of course not, we would never leave without you--.
--Pinkie promise?-- Jake laughed a little but hooked his little finger to hers who was already waiting for him --I promise, now go back to sleep-- she pulled her hands off his arm, lay down and closed her eyes, Jake following took a deep breath settling down to sleep, He concentrated on reconciling this --Dad-- without moving and to let (__) know that he was listening to her although she looked at him he made a kind of murmur --MH?--.
--I would not leave without you either-- Sometimes the words, the innocence and spontaneity with which she said them made Jake form a big smile and in other desire to laugh, In this case even something tender --seriously?-- --Yes-- he gently scratched his temple --that's good, your mother and I will not let you go anywhere until you are your grandmother's age-- (__) covered her mouth to suppress the sound of her laughter that tried to come out even more when Jake leaned one of his arms against his figure --But now back to sleep--.
The sounds of the atmosphere returned to their place in the hammock for a few seconds --Dad?-- (__) put one of her hands back on his arm with a small squeeze waiting for some answer, this being another murmur --I love you-- --I love you more (__)-- He closed his eyes and losing the grip of his hand sleep and stillness came.
With the security that his father gave him little by little, she embraced the rest that her body asked him without thinking about anything else.
Her body was now embraced with houndred of tendrils, dissapearing in front of the eyes of her loved ones, everything felt unreal for them. Because it was unreal. For years they fought to be happy but ir seems they were never meant to be.
lowdown-
When Y/N, and the Sullys first reach the reef, a boy catches her eye, and she does her best to catch his attention. She doesn't believe he likes her back, and she thinks it's ridiculous that she's so whipped for this boy. He seems to have no interest in her, and they remain what she believes, friends.
this parts lowdown-
the past couple of months have been hard, avoiding your teacher and the love of your life. You manage it though, with your brothers, family and friends with you. He tries to speak to you and makes up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the past couple of months went by in a blur, and when you try to force your brain to attempt to grasp more than a couple of memories, you can't. The memories you do remember, are the ones where you stand often at the edge of water, feeling the tide lap at your feet, as you try to think.
it's hard, being rejected. Your brothers attempted to make you feel better, telling you things like; "it's just heartbreak, it's not a big deal." thanks, Lo'ak. like he didn't cry when T'sireya said she didn't like the same fish as him.
you question the stability of your mind on several occasions when you couldn't remember much. The first couple of weeks after the rejection, you spent the majority of your time in your hammock in the family marui pod, refusing to come out.
T'sireya had stopped by on numerous occasions, attempting you to go out, spend some time. She felt terrible about what had happened with her brother, feeling some sort of responsibility as she was the one who suggested he teach you the ways of the metkayina. you refused to go out, afraid you would see Ao'nung and that he would sneer and laugh at you again when he did.
she sighed, and would come back a couple days later to try again. This went on for awhile, before lo'ak convinced her to just give you some time before you were ready. lo'ak and neteyam were furious with ao'nung, even haven gotten into one fight with him. you scolded them both when you found out, and made them promise not to fight him again, even if he hurt you.
your parents had disapproved from the beginning, neytiri sending snarls toward ao'nung whenever she saw him, and jake sending glares over to him as well. there was nothing they could do now, since he had already rejected you, except for trying to be there for you.
jake was not a very affectionate father, not the best at talking about feelings and things like that, but he tried his best for you. He'd talk about how it was just a boy, and that there would be more. He said that if it was meant to be, you wouldn't have been rejected, which was not the right thing to say to you after rejection as you burst into tears. ta'heyla rushing toward you when she heard you wail, curling into your side to try to make you feel better.
even avarin, who was still wary of the metkayina clan, had known of your little episode thing, catching fish and other food for you to eat as a way of showing her love. you were grateful for her and ta'heyla, and they made it slightly more bearable.
slowly, you began to feel better, spending more time out of your hammock, and even going for flights on avarin, swimming in the ocean, hunting to pass the time. T'sireya, your brothers and parents were overjoyed that you were finally up and about, but they could still see how your skin had paled slightly, not the same shade of cerulean skin. but, they were going to take what they could get.
when you hung out with kiri and t'sireya, they made sure that you spent as much time away from Ao'nung, hoping and praying you didn't see him as you continued living your life.
unbeknownst to anyone apart from you, one night while you had snuck out of your marui pod to do some thinking, you had seen ao'nung sitting quite close to your marui pod, feet in the water, as he stared at some glowing hammerbrow fish that swam by.
seeing how that it was the first time you saw him in a long time, you froze, your tail swishing back and forth warily behind you. You did not know what to do. you stood there for a couple of minutes and watched him, hidden by the shadows of your marui pod.
it physically hurt to see him look so unaffected by what had happened, as if he broke girls' hearts for fun, on a daily basis. You supposed he could've done and you never noticed. Sick of seeing him, you walked out, striding past him. He didn't seem to notice, so absorbed by the water and the hammerbrow fish.
you told yourself you didn't care and left. His contemplating face was stuck in your head for a couple hours after that, while you switched back and forth between riding Avarin, and your skimwing. When you got back home, the sun was starting to rise, and it seemed as if ao'nung had been long gone.
you sighed in relief, but were pretty distracted for the rest of the day, wondering why he had been in front of your family's marui pod. lo'ak noticed, and had asked on several occasions why you were so distracted, you just told him that you hadn't slept while. He sent you a look that screamed that he didn't believe you, but you weren't bothered to argue with him.
behind your back, he shared a worried glance with neteyam, who shrugged his shoulders and continued eating. the next day you had made plans with t'sireya to spend time by the beach, and so you did. You met her while the sky had the sun prancing on the water, the bluest day you had seen in awhile.
it was lovely to be sitting by the beach with t'sireya, ao'nung off your mind in the first time for months, and you missed this. You missed feeling free and happy, which in all honesty sounded really stupid. He was just a boy, you constantly reminded yourself, but you knew it wasn't true.
T'sireya spoke to you about everything and nothing, before finally getting back into the conversation she's been wanting to have for months. no one knew what exactly happened with you and ao'nung, just that you were rejected. T'sireya wished to know what exactly happened, and how he had rejected you.
"y/n?" she asked slowly as if she was talking to a jittery animal. might as well been, because you tensed up as soon as she used that tone. You knew what she was going to ask, and you sighed. it's time you spoke about it anyway.
"yes?" you responded, fidgeting with your hands in your lap
"what happened with you and ao'nung? If you don't mind telling me." she asks softly, almost hard to hear over the sound of the water meeting with the beach.
you sigh, leaning back on your elbows, sand shifting with the pressure of your weight as you turn toward her. you tell her what happens, and she gets increasingly angry.
"he did that? oh that skxawng, i will have his hide for that!" she growls, ears flattening against her head in anger. she remembers who she's with at the moment when you sigh, and her eyes soften, her bared teeth hidden by a sad smile as she apologises for her brother's actions.
"i'm so sorry, i don't know why he would do something like that. it doesn't make sense, he seemed infatuated with you." she apologises, pulling you into a hug.
"who knows? he has his own thoughts, too." you tell her, shrugging. the conversation ends soon, as your brother comes to collect you for dinner, and you say goodbye to t'sireya.
as soon you and lo'ak are out of her line of sight, her thick tail swishing back and forth angrily behind her as she marches back to her marui, prepared to give ao'nung the scolding of his life.
she finds him sitting at the fire with her parents and roxto, ignoring the former and latter, as she storms in, immediately starting to yell.
"you skxawng! how could you do that to y/n?" she points her finger at ao'nung as roxto scurries away, afraid of t'sireya's wrath. Tonowari and Ronal stare in confusion, as ao'nung seems to deflate promptly.
"hold on, what happened?" ronal asks, stepping forward before any violence can start.
"this skxawng, ao'nung, rejected the advances of y/n, when he is not even good enough for her. he would be the luckiest na'vi with y/n!" t'sireya explains, aggressively pointing her finger at him, shaking in anger.
"is this true?" tonowari asks ao'nung as he steps forward, pushing t'sireya's accusing finger away from ao'nung's eye, afraid his daughter might stab his son's eye in anger.
"yes." ao'nung mutters meekly, stepping away from t'sireya, afraid she will result to violence.
"you idiot-" t'sireya begins yelling again, cut off by her father raising a silent hand.
"do you not like her?" tonowari asks in confusion, ronal stepping beside him.
"i don't know." he answers quietly, making t'sireya groan in frustration, throwing her hands up into the air.
"then why would you be so mean?" she demands to know, stepping closer. "she looks at you like you strung the stars and every time she looks at them, she can only think of you, she loves you, ao'nung. and you were a skxawng telling her you didn't feel the same. why would you do that?" she finishes, and her parents nod in agreement.
"i- i don't know." he stammers, shaking his head. "for the better of the tribe? you said yourself that they were demon children, not true na'vi." he tries to explain, speaking to his parents, however it is obvious that he is unaware why he did it to even himself.
"for the better of the tribe?" his mother repeats in exasperation. "y/n and the rest of the sullys have done nothing but try to prove themselves to us, and don't be stupid, she is the toruk makto. how is she not true na'vi? just because you could not admit your own feelings for her, doesn't mean you get to blame it on the better of the tribe." ronal finishes, and when t'sireya walks closer to ao'nung, neither tonowari or ronal stops her, she swings her hand back and slaps ao'nung across the face.
"you better apologise, you idiot. If i was her, i wouldn't accept it, but eywa knows that she is a better person than i would be. you must make her trust you again." t'sireya sighs, as ao'nung rubs the mark that is already turning purple across his face, as she walks away, sitting down near the fire.
ao'nung had already realised that he was wrong, but with t'sireya's encouragement and the idea of losing you is what moves him to do something. he decides he needs to do anything to earn back your favour. that night, as the rest of his family slumbers away in their respect hammocks, ao'nung stares at the ceiling and thinks of the way he can win back your favour.
the next morning he approaches you with a bouquet of flowers as you walk with kiri by the beach. as soon as you see him, you leave and he sighs. kiri glares at him before stalking away, too.
the next few days he approaches and seeks you out, leaving you little peace. a week later he approaches you while you are on a lone hunt, pulling his ilu beside your skimwing, and while your skimwing feels your discomfort and slight anger, he snaps at ao'nung's ilu and he veers away for a bit.
you think you're free, but he finds you a couple of hours later on a small island as you hunt with avarin soaring above you. you manage to duck out of his sight with a well timed warning from avarin, squatting in a tree as you watch him stumble around like an idiot searching for you.
"y/n?" he continues to call out, seemingly knowing that you are still on this island. "please, i just want to talk." he begs, eyes scanning the trees, searching for your figure.
'he just wants to talk?' you think, 'maybe i should hear him out?' that soft side of your subconscious says. 'no! he hurt us, remember?' the other, more rational part of you thinks.
obviously the more delusional part of you won, so you jump down from your tree as he walks beneath the tree for the third time. he jumps as your feet hit the ground, whirling around startled.
he realises it's you and gives you a shy smile, testing the waters. you do not return the smile, just watching him with impassive eyes before sighing. as you sigh, the smile melts away, and his lips come together in a hard line.
"what do you want, ao'nung? can't you leave me alone?" you ask him, throwing your bow over your shoulder. he tracks the movement as if he's afraid you're going to shoot him, and you laugh at the thought internally, knowing that you could never hurt him on purpose.
"i want to apologise for what i said to you when i rejected you. i was afraid to accept my feelings and i did not know what to do. nobody has ever made me feel the way you do, and i didn't understand how to cope with it. I don't mean anything i said, and i would be the luckiest na'vi if i had your love again." he rambles out, stepping forward, pulling out the necklace you made for him, put together again.
"after i rejected you and you left, i picked up the necklace and instantly regretted it. i want to thank you for it, and i fixed it. please accept it as an apology and a gift from me, in any way you see fit." he continues, holding it out to you.
you hesitate. his apology seems sincere, but a gift and a couple of words could not undo the damage his words made. he notices your hesitation, eyes wide in anticipation, waiting for your response.
you extend your hand, fingers brushing against ao'nung's as you pull the necklace from his hands. in your hands, the necklace is warm, and feels familiar. at the centre, a new bead, one that you did not make, the colour of your eyes. he smiles when he sees you notice.
"may i?" he asks, gesturing toward your neck. you nod, unable to speak as he takes the necklace back from your hands, lifting your hair out of the way, fastening it around your neck. as he does so, you can feel his fingers lightly brushing against your neck, and suddenly it's harder to breathe. when he's finished, he steps back and you turn back around to face him.
"ao'nung... i accept your apology, but it will take time for me to trust you again. if this is a courting gift, then i do not accept it as a courting gift, only as a normal gift and an apology. if you wish to court me, it will require me to forgive you fully. your words have hurt me and it will take some time to heal, please understand." you tell him, and he nods in understanding.
"i will do whatever it takes for you to accept me as your mate. I want you to know i do feel the same for you as you did when you approached me with your courting, and i was a skxawng to reject you." he tells you. you nod in agreement, glad that he's apologised and you feel slightly better. however, you were not going to accept him immediately, knowing that his actions would prove the truth better than the words he says.
your ways separate after that, you continuing your hunt, and him going back to his marui to tell t'sireya the news.
"of course she accepted your apology. i said she was better than i was, didn't i?" t'sireya rolls her eyes. "you need to prove what you mean if you want to still court her. not that you deserve her, idiot." she continues.
he shrugs, just happy you agreed to accept his apology. t'sireya rolls her eyes again, but she too is glad you accepted his apology.
the next couple of weeks, ao'nung is the kindest he's ever been. he saves you the food he deems the best, brings you extravagant gifts, and saves you the best spots at the communal fires. your brothers were not happy at the beginning, but with every new gift, they saw you looking happier and happier, so they just watched from a distance, ready to swoop in whenever something felt wrong. ao'nung gifted your brothers spoils of the hunt, and soon won the favour of your mother and father.
they believed he would be a suitable mate, especially now that he was looking for your forgiveness, and to gain your trust back. they were also happy, believing that he was slightly worthy of you when they began to see your old self again, quick to smile and laugh.
conversation was easy between you and ao'nung, he asks you of your home, and you teach him about the forests you came from. you find out small details about him, like how he used to be afraid of the water, but his father just threw him in and he began to enjoy it.
he doesn't press you for answer regarding being his mate, just easily working up to the moment where you feel comfortable enough to tell him you accept. you never knew how affectionate ao'nung was. he was very tactile with you
it was usually very small things. like when you walked through a crowded area, he had his hand resting gently on your lower back, guiding you through the crowds, muttering about how he wouldn't want to lose you. his arm wrapped around your shoulder protectively when another boy who wanted your attention came by, glaring at them until they got uncomfortable enough to leave. he thought he was being subtle, but he really wasn't.
he also tended to lean into your side during conversations, leaving you flustered on numerous occasions, and him with a smirk on his face. one time, you got irritated by his smirk and noticed his dimples popped out, and you stuck your index fingers in them and laughed while he stared at you like you were insane, before lunging after you as you danced out of his grasp to tickle you.
he did that a lot, actually. didn't know why, but it was probably an excuse to touch you, you thought later. it was a strange relationship, both of you knowing how you and the other felt of each other, but nothing really progressed, as he was waiting for you to accept his courtship, continuing to bring you gifts every day.
it was insane, how many he had. it was like he had been collecting every single thing that made him think of you and giving it to you. your brothers complained about the clutter near your hammock, but they saw how it made you smile every time you got a new gift. it wasn't like you were just accepting his gifts and not doing anything for him, though.
you too gave him frequent gifts, although smaller gifts and less often, about once a week. it was a funny joke among the metkayina tribe members, and a you're pretty sure you saw t'sireya betting with a child on how long it would take for you to cave into ao'nung's advances. you spluttered when you asked her about it and she just grinned mischievously, telling you to hurry it up because she wanted to win.
and it didn't help that you were on your way to ao'nung as he noticed your blush and asked you about it , which made you begin spluttering again, and he laughed lightly, pulling you closer to him as you walked, arm wrapping around your waist.
a couple of months after this specific moment, after you fully believed that he was true to his word, actually caring about you, you consulted your brothers, parents, friends and even ao'nung's parents. they all agreed that he had managed to prove himself to be worthy of you, and since they agreed with you, you decided to accept.
that day, you pulled him along to a small cave you found off the coast of the village, which you had set up nicely. he seemed to know you had finally accepted, but could tell you wanted it to be special, so he just let you do what you wished.
at the small cave, it was dimly lit by blue glow worms, and you pulled him to a small tide pool, pulling him down to sit at the edge with you, dipping your feet in the water. he smiled at you encouragingly, ready for you to accept.
you pulled out a small bracelet you had made for him discreetly while he was literally around you 24/7, that happened to match with one you were wearing.
"ao'nung, i know that i did not originally accept your courting, due to the rejection of mine, but i am ready now. i accept you and i see you." you tell him, handing him the bracelet. he smiles at you happily, taking it from you and putting it around his wrist, before pushing himself into the water.
you sit there confused, wondering what you're supposed to do now, when he gives you a mischievous grin, that looks scarily alike to t'sireya's. using his tail to stay afloat in the tide pool, he reaches his hand out for you to take. you take it, and he pulls you under.
under the surface of the water, your thin eyelid slides over your eyes, allowing you to see underwater. ao'nung's in front of you, smiling at you. he snakes his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him. you can feel your heart thump in your chest, and can feel his heart beating fast in his, too. one hand moves from your waist to cup your cheek, before he leans in and closes his eyes, kissing you.
both of your lips gently brush against each other underwater, and his grip around you tightens, pulling you closer. the kiss is hesitant in the beginning, exploring. the longer your lips remain together, the more confident he gets, grip tightening again.
you can't help but think how happy you are in this moment, grateful you managed to end up together like you always thought you would, happy that you were.
the kiss is nothing like you thought it would be, better than you could have ever expected, his lips soft against yours. he pulls back after awhile, smiling at you, before you both swim back to the surface to breathe.
needless to say, t'sireya was obnoxiously happy she won the bet against the child, and you promised you were going to bet on her and lo'ak with ao'nung, which made her stay quiet. but you didn't mind, since you had ao'nung by your side after all.
EVERY CORNER OF THIS HOUSE IS HAUNTED. (1)
Synopsis ! Jake had taken you as his own after Tsu'tey's passing, leaving no one to care for you. Things had been good before your relationship with him had blurred along growing of age. You and him fought all the time; argued each other's ear off and tonight was no different-- except words have been said, severing the already damaged bond. Content & warning Jake sully x Daughter!Reader, Sully kids x Sister!Reader Neytiri x Daughter!Reader. (wc; 3104)
Jake knew a saying; held onto it ever since he had resided amongst Naâviâ every person is born twice. While he believed that it meant that the second time is when you earn your place here in Pandora, Eywa had a clever way of broadening the idea. His very children were proof of it.
He thinks itâs the great motherâs way of compensation, perhaps a second chance for him to do betterâ to do his very best to keep them alive on behalf of those he lost.Â
While Kiri was a special case enough, you too were an odd one.Â
You are Tsuâtey's daughter. Turns out, he had someone in secret while he trained to become oloâeyktanâ when he was supposed to take Neytiri for himself. It was tabooâ absolutely wrong to become unfaithful to oneâs mate. But following the carnage of the great war, when Tsuâtey had so selflessly sacrificed his life, only then did Tsiâewa came forward; told everyone of their love and what could have been. She was a simple songstress along Ninat, but it was her round and bulging belly that caught everyoneâs attention.
It caused an uproar and understandably so. After all, Neytiri had only announced her rebellion with Jake not long before, but when the people connected the dots themselves and both stories had become one, they understood that their hearts merely yearned for another and no one should have ever dictated otherwise. Arrangements had been made and condolences were exchangedâ everyone can only look back and wish that things could have been different.
Jake was supposed to take you under his wing as a way of honoring himâ he owed Tsuâtey his life and perhaps an apology as big as so. But after your mother had unfortunately died during your birth, he knew to himself that he had to take you in; not as a responsibility, but as his own blood and flesh. His first daughter.
You were the loudest baby, he recalled. That day, Jake had rocked your body back and forth in his arms frantically, while Moâat and Neytiri did everything within their power to help TsĂŹ'ewa. Your cries were ear-splitting, enough to wake the whole clan up.Â
âJust what do I do with you,â He muttered under his breath, eyebrows knitted in frustrationâ just where do he hold you? Is he doing it right? Are you hurt? Why are you crying so loud?
âJake, the baby!â Neytiriâs shout from inside had cut his train of loud thoughts, snapping back to your bawling. He wasnât doing such a good job.Â
âIâm trying, Neytiriâ this thing wonât budge.â
Neytiri had emerged from the hut, stomping her way to Jake with a scowl. "That is not a thing, you skxawng!" she exclaimed before gently scooping you up from his arms, cooing softly to youâ though it was more like mocking him instead. âDoes Jake here make you cry?â She said, patting your thigh soothingly. âHeâs not at all pleasant to look at, but you have to get used to it.âÂ
Almost in an instant, your cries had died down. You babbled along with her, like you were agreeing with her every word. He slowly pulled himself closer to Neytiri, eyes wide with curiosity as he watched your small hands playing with her long braids. âHeh, she has Tsuâteyâs eyes,â He whispers, unable to look away.Â
The flap of the hut swinging open was the only thing that got their attention, momentarily away from yours as they looked at Moâat with anticipation. With a single shake of her head, sorrow surged their hearts, eyes traveling back to your innocent ones. They mourned for you; an unknowing child should never have to carry such grief. They had to make a choiceâ A responsibility they werenât expecting to have so early.Â
Jake mindlessly trails his finger down your stomach, gently, like you were the most fragile thing. Your little hand wraps around it and it was like you had binded his scattered thoughts into one big understanding.Â
Sully. Youâre one of them now.
Jake releases a breathless chuckle as he gazes upon his lover and you with a newfound clarity, a perspective so bright it illuminated in his very eyes. Then came an ideaâ the desire of having children of their own. Perhaps thatâs why Neteyam came after only two years. You were quite the ploy; the push they needed to start a family.
You were truly blessedâ the genius of your age was undeniable, your remarkable talent soon earning you the admiration of all who had seen it. By the time you turned six, you had already mastered many of the abilities that a hunter would needâ your skills with a bow were unrivaled by most of the children your age, let alone those who were much older than you. They'd marvel at your accuracy each time you took aim with an arrow. You could never miss. You had to make sure you didnât.Â
By the age of 12, you had already accompanied Jake in hunts. You had developed a knack for planning, coming up with routes and back-up plans that were often surprisingly effective. You have proved to be helpful plenty of times. You were quick, silentâ full of poise. They often wondered if you were an old, seasoned soul trapped inside a little girlâs body.Â
But as quickly as the spotlight had shone down on you, it left almost as soon as it had come.
(âWhat you did today was reckless, y/n.â Jake settles his bow on the table aggressively, emitting a sharp thud. You were just as frustrated, throwing your satchel down the floor of the hut.Â
The mission had gone rather wildly, with things not going along the plan. There was another airshipâ one that no one was aware of. Your instincts jolted your body, immediately throwing an explosive towards it which had it blowing all over the placeâ its pieces crashing and causing a wildfire.Â
Jake argued that there couldâve been a more safer way. One that didnât have to risk more of our resources and supplies; one that didnât have to injure the other warriors. Of course you knew to yourself that you did the right thing. You did what you had to do.Â
 âYou couldâve been hurt and got others killed! Just what were you thinking?â He continued to berate you. You jest that if this went on, thereâd be steam visible above his already heated head.Â
âI had to take a riskâ not everything goes to plan and this is proof of it.â You answered back with a scowl, âIf I hadn't, there wouldâve been more casualties.âÂ
âThatâs not a call for you to answer to! Jesus Christ,â Jake runs his palms down his face, grunting, before looking back at youâ expression suddenly tired and soft. âCome on kid, whereâs that sweetheart who always listened to what I said?âÂ
You had scoffed, a hurt forming on the pits of your stomach. âThat sweetheart once had a place in plans before.â You said, eyes unwilling to look at him. It weighed in your heart heavilyâ why did people assume that you were the only one who changed? You didnât understand. âPretty sure the Jake before was a good listener too.âÂ
The wrinkle in between his eyebrows deepened in confusion, but he never was one for confrontation. With a single dismissive grunt, he turns his back against you. âIâm way past your attitude. Youâre grounded. Go.â)
As you grew, the resemblance to your father became ever more apparent. Jake started noticing the many similarities between the two of you; the way you walkedâ how you sauntered confidently through a crowd. Your braids would move along your heavy steps (and perhaps, thatâs where Neteyam got his mannerism of swaying his too.), shoulders wide and proud. You even had his signature snarl, something Tsuâtey was known for that unfortunately seemed to have been passed down to you too.Â
However, it was more than how you brought yourself. You were strong-willedâ stubborn.Â
There was another thing about you too. You didnât call Jake dad anymore. It hurt himâ left a heavy feeling on his chest every time you regarded him so distant. It was unfair that you still called Neytiri mom, why did it have to change with him? He didnât have the heart to address it. Couldnât ask you what went wrong.Â
Because he knows damn well why.Â
Loâak was enough of a headache, but you were a different kind of royal pain in the ass, more like a personal problem. It was tiresome. Petty. There was not a day that you and Jake wouldnât argue and bite each otherâs ass offâ and yet, there was never a day where you two would talk it out. The fights would blur itselves out and before they knew it, things would be back to normal, only for it to fall out again over something small. It was routine. The only thing normal for you both.Â
He missed youâ missed his baby. Just when did you grow to become so distant? When did he start to overlook you?
Youâll admit, you might have indulged in the folkâs gossip. They always had a story for everything and they have plenty about your father. Tsuâtey was a fit oloâeyktan. He had proved so in his training and determination. Of course it was a low punch in the gut when the throne had been passed to an outsiderâ a demon, most of all. It was unfair, he knew it wasnât right. A washed up marine had taken something he had worked for like it was nothing. Like he was nothing.Â
You pitied your father and you feared youâd be like himâ like nothing.Â
And history might just repeat itself. You werenât cluelessâ wasnât blind to the fact that Jake had trained your brother more. He adored him so much that the very moment he was in the right age to train, you were off to fend for yourself; trained all alone while Jake went over the routine with Neteyam like he did with you. You remembered waiting for him every afternoon because he promised that heâd make timeâ that time was yours and yours only. But as the light bled and neared eclipse and you were too cold to wait outside, you learned never to wait again.Â
They would come home soon afterâ smiles on their faces and a handful of apologies for you.Â
Soon enough, your suspicions proved you right as the people started to talk again; Neteyamâ the golden child. He would make a good oloâeyktan.Â
Perhaps that would explain the drift between you and Neteyam too. Could they blame you for it? You had lost their attention so earlyâ while you still needed them. You werenât their kid and you were reminded of it everyday. In times when you didnât know if you had space in the family hammock while they sat together, telling stories under the starry sky. You pretended to have fallen asleep everytime; back against them as you listened. In times where the family was growing and growing, until the small table wasnât big enough for everyone anymoreâ or in this case, for you.Â
(âCome on, maâite, what are you doing so far from here?â Neytiri had called for you when she noticed how distant you were from everyone. You silently scooted beside her, wooden bowl in your lap. âLook, I prepared your favorite.âÂ
It wasnât. You hated it. You hated the tangy taste of it so badly. But you had decided to eat what was left on the table after everyone had gotten their meals and there wasnât usually enough for you. Neytiri thought nothing of thatâ didnât think that you eating only scraps and dried fruit was because there wasnât anything else for you to have. She simply thought that it was your favorite and had been making it for you ever since.
You didnât have the heart to tell her. Not when she thought she had been doing well with preparing it. You kissed your teeth, smiling tightly as you lifted the food to your lips, eating silently. âThank you, itâs good.â You muttered under your breath after.)Â
But you were family; they said so themselves. When they tucked you in to sleep, when they patted your head. They were still present now, just not in the way you wantedâ not in the way you longed for. It seemed like making them angry was the only way you could have their attentionâ particularly, your dad. You could never make Neytiri mad. She tries to understand you, she does. Explaining now just seems so.. Petty. So childish, you decided to push her away instead.Â
What do you tell her? That you only let dad blow a fuse or two was because you missed him? Because you didnât know what went wrong?Â
So there goes your routine.Â
âI just donât understand why I canât be oloâeykte.â You had brought up again, lips in a familiar snarl. âYou tire me and for what? Kiri is already training to be Tsahikâ just what would my place in this clan be?âÂ
âWe are not having this conversation again, y/n. Not tonight.â
Jake had just returned from a particularly bad hunt; went home empty-handed and with a patience as thin as a strand of hair. He continued to sharpen his dagger, movements almost aggressive. Everyone immediately went out of his way, not wanting to be on the end of his temperâ not you though. You could never get a hint, it seems.
âYes, tonight! My ceremony is almost near, sir. I have been waiting.â
It wasnât like he had a reason anyway. Jake couldnât tell you because he had no reason as to why. Why couldnât you be oloâeykte? You had all the skills to be one, even more so. But in the back of his mind, a thought so deep and petty that he couldnât bear to say, tells him that the name he carried was something to gift his eldest son. Oloâeyktan was a privilege reserved for Neteyam. He never thought to have you so earlyâ he always dreamed of having a son first.Â
âWait more.âÂ
âThis is insaneâ saânok!â You had turned to Neytiri, eyes pleading. She quickly grasps your arm and tries to tug you back towards the exit, speaking in a soft but firm voice as she tries to soothe the tension.
âMaâite, why donât we go out for a walk?â She whispers. To be frank, she was tired of thisâ never of you, no. But at the way things had been. Parents arenât parents automatically just because they have had children of their own. Itâs a skill they have yet to musterâ to truly understand. She didnât know where the line between you and her had blurry along the years. Didnât know where this constant need of yours to be seen came from.Â
You jerked your arm away from her, almost too harshly. It tugged on her heartstrings, not knowing what was going on with you. âI cannot wait anymore.â You said, taking two steps towards Jake with an unreadable angerâ an anger he didnât know when had stemmed from.Â
âIs it because Iâm not your daughter?âÂ
His eyes widened. A flash of vulnerability visible in his gaze, momentarily softening his glare. âYou stop this right now, y/n.â He had stood up, tucking the dagger back to his loincloth. Jakeâs larger frame towered over you, telling you to drop itâ to leave the conversation. But you werenât backing down.Â
âI am your eldestâ! You trained me earlier than Neteyam, I have been here long enoughââ
âYou arenât ready!â He had shouted with the same fierceness, earning a dirty look from Neytiri.
âWhy wonât you see me?â Your voice had softened, borderline beggingâ just a bit, but enough for his ears to flatten in response. He knew that beneath those few simple words lay many layers of underlying meaning; emotions that have yet to be spoken.Â
But he turns his back against you dismissively anyway. âNeytiri, get her out of here.âÂ
Neytiri grabs you by the arms again, although a bit forceful now, but just enough for her to touch youâ to have you in between her arms. She embraced you, like she was trying to keep the words from escalating. She feared one of you would say something out of line; something you both would regret.Â
But on the brink of the tensionâ the severity of the situation, you had muttered. Your voice was muffled, but it was clear. The message was oh so crystal. âYou took everything from my father.âÂ
Jake grunts, âYeah? Well maybe your father wasnât enough either.âÂ
âJake!â Neytiri hisses and although Jake couldnât see her, he knew very well he was getting quite the conversation with his mate too.Â
It was a low blow. Unnecessary. A straight strike to the gut. It was a pain so bitter, you didnât want it to linger any longerâ you were nauseous. You wanted no more than to vomit everything that spiraled out of your stomach.Â
âYou want to lead so badly and you canât even control your temper. No clan wants a hot-head for a leader.â But he kept goingâ relentless and cruel. âYou ought to be someone elseâs shadow.âÂ
âBut Iâm your daughter,â Your tone had softened, almost cracking as the lump in your throat grew. Tears blurred your vision, threatening to escape as Neytiri held you close.Â
âAnd yet you never listen to meâ because Iâm not exactly your father, yeah?â With one last glance, he stepped out, passing his children who stayed just outside the door, listening. Jake opens his mouth, desperate to ease the tensionâ the discomfort written in their faces, but he quickly shuts it and continues to walks out. He had said enough for tonight. There was nothing saving his face from this. It was best if he left instead.Â
âOh, maâite.â Neytiri rocks her body along yours, drawing soothing circles on your back but the embarrassment settles in your chestâ gnawing at your body. You catch a glance of the pitiful looks from your siblings as they try to enter the hut silently.Â
How could you make a mess out of yourself in front of them? Why had you let this blown over?
You retracted slowly from your motherâs hold, wiping your tears before running the opposite way from where Jake had gone to. It was better if you left instead.
đżyouâre a definite mamas girl
đżwhen your sad, mad, feeling antisocial, bored, excited, or tired youâre glued to her side.
đżyour mama is your comfort and though you like being around lots of people at the end of the day and about 65% of the time you just want to be with Neytiri
đż18 but you still call her âmamaâ
đżNeytiri loves talking about her ancestors and being the one to teach you about Navi things.
đżmore when you were younger but Neytiri will get super protective of you . She didnât like when anyone else held you as a baby which is the reason you now constantly want to be around her. Neytiri just wanted to hold you all the time.
đżstrict with her discipline with you especially. And especially if youâve done something against your siblings (in a dangerous context) this is because she trusts you so much that itâs upsetting when you let them down. She sees herself in you and wants you to live up to your potential.
đżNeytiri does your hair and is slightly offended when she sees you have done it yourself or someone else has done it (letâs it slide if Jake does it). She often sings to you when doing it. Doing your hair is her way of showing you, your still her little baby.
đżyour fierce nature is from your mother as well as your emotional and tender side
đżyou definitely find yourself trying to be like Neytiri as much as possible
đżyou can talk to her about most everything, probably more than your father but heâs trying. Sheâs great at breaking up squabbles with you and your siblings
đżalways wanted a little girl so when you were born she was so happy
đżyou love to help her cook and you guys will talk about the happenings of the village
đżlike Jake, she calls you yueyâite or Maâ
AAAAAAA I LOVE THIS
You're dead to me [3]
dad!Jake Sully x human!daughter!reader
In which Jake Sully leaves his life on earth to settle down with the Omatikaya people as Toruk Makto. Having a family that consists of four kids with Neytiri, everything seems to work out just fine, but what if the past comes back for him? And his babygirl is right there in front of him?
warning: english isn't my first language, barely proofread, a lot of awkward tension cause Neytiri and humans + reader being in conflict, terrible na'vi sentence.
next chapter
A superior of you recommended you to Norm, a human scientist in an avatar body that went against the RDA a decade ago. He lives close to the war, which means close to the Omatikaya. This means you were going to face your father, the man you really didn't want to see. It wasn't that big of a shock to you when you were told that you were going to the front lines. You were always preached about for being one of the best warriors, you saw it coming. Both Raja and Seb were also ranked as one of the best warriors among your group, so it was fortunate you could at least be close to your friends if you were to break down. Yet you weren't planning to do that. Deep inside you yearned for him, wanting to jump into his arms the moment you see him and call him daddy again, but another side of you told you to keep quiet about it. Let him figure it out on his own. Act like you don't care and show him what you became. Was it the mature way? No, definitely not. But you threw your childhood away to become a warrior, being childish every now and then shouldn't hurt too much. And I mean, they had your files. The information of you potentially being Jake Sully's kid was out in the open for the higher-ranked to see, so whether he was interested enough in getting to know his soon-to-be acquaintances or not, the choice of figuring out you are his babygirl is really up to Jake Sully himself. It's not like he would notice it by looking at your face, your mask wasn't see-through and covered half of your face. Besides that, you look different than what you looked like over a decade ago. So here you were, in this helicopter with Raja and Seb on your way to the Omatikaya clan, adrenaline rushing through your veins as Raja kept her grip on your forearm.
Jake Sully held his wife in his arms as he begged her to accept the help that is supposed to get to home tree soon. Norm already told him weeks ago that the resistance was coming soon. He didn't know what he meant, unaware of the things that were happening on earth. He was explained how earth was in an uproar, divided into three groups: with the RDA, against the RDA, or being neutral. Information was leaked about the RDA's doings, how they were sending humans to Pandora to kill the natives. History repeats itself. From killing their own kind centuries ago to killing a different species on a different planet. Norm told him how he was in contact with a huge resistance party on planet earth, one that was open for it to directly take action, how they wanted to send their trained warriors to Pandora to end the wrongdoings of mankind and keep the RDA away or any human that was a potential enemy to Pandora and its nature. Young warriors that just finished their training, choosing to fight for someone else's freedom rather than living a safe life on earth. Safe as in not getting attacked then, because planet earth is definitely dying. Jake could appreciate this selfless decision, whether some may be in it for the paycheck or just an act of kindness, all of them were there to help. He was hoping Neytiri could see it like this too, they were here to help fight against their own kind. Jake's pleading eyes couldn't make Neytiri decline, so with a loud hiss she agreed, "fine, but I'm coming with you. If they make one wrong move I'm going to pierce an arrow through their skulls, ma Jake." Her tone sounded annoyed, but she couldn't help but lean into his touch.
Even though Neytiri agreed to accept help from the sky demons, she was against the idea to bring those demons directly to high camp. It was that feeling all over again, when Jake betrayed her and the RDA came to destroy their past home, home tree. She was scared for her people, for her children. Jake could understand where she was coming from and agreed with Norm through his throat microphone to meet at the lab instead. His children were listening from afar and Tuk jumped out of their hiding spot, much to Neteyam's, Loak's and Kiri's dismay. "Are we going on an adventure?", giggles left her lips as she jumped towards her mother, her arms wrapping around her waist. Her chin was pressed against her mom's hip as she looked up at her with sparkles in her eyes. Kiri smacked herself against the forehead as their little sibling ran towards her parents. The three got out of their hiding spot, Neteyam walking in front as he was ready to confront his father, "sir I-" he started, but was immediately cut off as Jake spoke over his voice, "Neteyam I need you to come with your mom and me. We are retrieving guests, sky people. This will be part of your Olo'eyktan training." Jake's tone was fierce as he spoke to his son, treating his own blood as nothing but a warrior. Neteyam pursed his lips as he nodded his hand in response, "yes sir." was all he had left to say. Loak groaned as he felt left out of the situation. He wanted to go on an adventure too, and spend time with his father. "What about me? Why can't I come?" He didn't hide the disappointment in his tone as he asked his questions, mainly directing them to his father. "I need you to stay here and take care of Kiri and Tuk." Kiri then decided to chime in on the conversation, planning to get more information on the current situation, "what is this all about dad? They're going to help us, but what are they exactly?" Jake sighed in response as he brought his hand to his forehead. It was no use hiding anything, they would get to know the truth eventually. So he just decided to tell them everything he knew from Norm.
Everything comes to light after all.
Jake Sully prepared himself for their departure. Hunter's knife strapped to his hip and his throat microphone attached as always, in case Loak gets into trouble yet again. "Ma Jake? Are you ready soon? My mother would like to see you as well before we do." Neytiri called from outside their family pod. "Almost almost, I'll get to her tent soon." Jake was frantically looking around the pod as he spoke. He was looking for his good luck charm. Childish one may call it, but it made him feel at ease during these stressful times. There it lay, the thing he was looking for, under one of the woven carpets. He picked the round charm up, holding it between his thumb and index finger as he tried to open the lock. His heart pounded into his throat as he did so, struggling to open it because of his much bigger hands. He was delusional, scared to lose it. He breathed out when he came face to face with your cute baby face, all smiling and giggling. "Thank Eywa," he mumbled to himself and tied to chain to the handle of his knife. When Jake Sully opened the flap that separated the inside of the pod from the outside world he came face to face with Neytiri, "Mo'at wants to see me?" She responded with a nod as her head nodded to the healer's tent, "she wanted to speak to you, she told me." He wondered what that could be about. He wasn't injured or suffering from any illnesses, so what could have possibly happened? Jake Sully nodded his head before speaking up, "I still don't think it's a good idea that you come." Neytiri crossed her arms at his words, "Ma Jake, I need to see what kind of people are about to enter my clan." And with that, she walked away. A sigh left his lips since he knew things would not turn out too well. He stepped towards Mo'at's tent. Time to find out why she needed him, as he entered the tent Mo'at was supposed to be at. "Ah, Jake Sully. I was awaiting you." She motioned for him to come in and he followed her order. He awkwardly stood next to her as she busied herself with her herbs, "Eywa has spoken to me. It has to do with you, Jake Sully." His ears twitched in curiosity, motioning for her to continue speaking. "You are about to be in a huge conflict. Hearts will break and tears will stream. You mustn't give up as Eywa has spoken to me this needs to happen for you to continue forward, so don't back down, Jake Sully." This just confused him, what conflict? Does this have to do with the arrival of the resistance? Is this about the RDA? But he doesn't dare ask, because he knows the Tsahik can't get into detail. His gaze is focused on the herbs the Tsahik is mixing up into medicines. Was it to distract herself from this conversation? He didn't know what else to say, but there is one thing he dared to ask, "when will this happen?"
"Way sooner than you will ever expect, Jake Sully."
"Your codename is Buttercup?" Norm looked at Seb in disbelief as the guy in question just shook his head, "I was forced, this is a crime." The three of you were talking about yourselves to Norm as Norm listened carefully. Raja giggled at the embarrassment of her friend, "so there used to be this cartoon I found in one of my great grandma's old boxes. It was called the Powerpuff girls. It is about three sisters that fight against crime and we needed codenames, so I forced (Y/N) and Seb to match with me." This made Norm realize how the three trained warriors in front of him were actually still kids at heart. Of course he knew that they were young, but this just showed how much they missed out on beings kids. You chuckled at the conversation and shrugged, "I mean, my codename is Blossom so it's not too bad, not like being a buff dude and getting called Buttercup. Raja's fits hers, bubbles. It fits her bubbly personality." Seb continued complaining about how it was two against one and that he couldn't escape from his codename being Buttercup. "We are here," Norm commented and you felt the nerves go through your body once again, your grip on your katana so hard your knuckles turned lighter. As the helicopter lowered, you looked outside the window and there you saw three blue figures standing next to one another close to a facility in the middle of the forest. There he was. Your dad. Standing all high and mighty and he was so tall. He looked so different, yet still the same. You noticed certain features that just made him look like your dad. You wished you were a little kid again. If it was little you in your place right now, she wouldn't have given a damn. Would've run up to him and told him who you were as you would have jumped into his arms. But you grew up, full of anger and pain. You pursed your lips as you watched him talk with his mate and son, silently wishing it was you there, by his side as he had a proud look on his face. You had an intense conflict within yourself. Why did you have to be such a tryhard? If you slacked off, you could have been chilling with the other warriors that were spread around the other forest clans. Yet, this was something to be proud of. You did this on your own, you should prove yourself to them, to him. But were you ready for this confrontation? All this inner dialogue made your head hurt. You had to stop fighting the thoughts in your head and focus, because you were getting lost in your thoughts a lot. That wasn't acceptable, not on a battlefield. Once the helicopter landed, Norm was the first to step out of the helicopter, followed by Seb, Raja and you. When the three of you stood in a line you were standing right in front of the Na'vi: Seb in front of Neteyam, Raja in front of Neytiri, and you in front of Jake Sully right in the middle. As if Eywa herself wanted this to happen, wanting the two of you to reconnect. He analyzes you from head to toe, his gaze burning into your skin making you push your mask further into your skin. You wanted to crawl into a cave right there and then.
"Oel Ngati Kameie," the three of you say in unison as you brought your hand towards your forehead, dropping it slowly to the height where your chest is at. The na'vi in front of you do the same na'vi greeting, before Jake Sully switched to English, "I, Jake Sully, Welcome you to Pandora, I can speak for everyone of the Omatikaya clan that we are very thankful for your arrival and your help." His English sounded rusty, but understandable when you haven't been using it for the past decade. Your eyebrows raise at his English, "we understand Na'vi. Pxoeng nolume Na'vi." You spoke to your dad through your mask and you could see the surprise on his face. It made you smile, he looked proud. Fortunately, the mask covered your mouth, otherwise, everyone could have seen your happy expression. Norm chimed into the conversation, "These three are the best warriors of their group. (Y/N), Seb and Raja, all scored fantastically on their physical exams. Six years ago, these warriors left just a few weeks before RDA's departure. We got a few weeks to plan out a raid against their new forces." Everyone nods in unison and you glance at your dad once again, locking eyes with him, since he was already looking at you.
Jake's eyes widen at that name. It was a name he didn't hear in so long. He thought of his babygirl, wondering what you could be doing right now. Did you graduate? Have a boyfriend? Girlfriend? Was he a grandfather? He got so overwhelmed at the thought of you. He missed you so much. His little girl, who is probably not so little now. Regret and guilt fuels his body as he remembers that he was the one to leave you and never return to earth. How he hoped to see your face again. Come and live here with him on Pandora, was that a selfish thought?
Norm took out a form and cleared his throat, making Jake Sully wake up from all his thoughts, "Jake, the warriors first need to do this checkup before they can get to work, resistance orders," he passes him the map with your files and your heart immediately dropped to your stomach. You knew he was about to get your last name eventually, but on the first day? You don't know if you can do that. "This was supposed to be my task, but I trust that you can do this, oh great Olo'eyktan? Max is researching something and he urgently needs my help with it." Great Norm, just great. Eywa, is this your doing? Because you would rather wish she takes you to her right this instant. "You can trust me with this, Norm." Jake flashes him a grin. "Don't lose it and I really mean that," Norm's gaze reaches the three of you once again, he almost looks worried, "I read the checkup, good luck, because as a scientist I could never." And to the lab he went.
"What was that supposed to mean?" Seb raised his eyebrows in concern and his eyes glanced at the map your father was holding. Neytiri has been quiet this entire time as well as Neteyam. Both were weary ever since they met you three, like mother, like son. Everyone could notice the tension, it would have made Jake's arm hair stand if he had any. "Okay, let's see what we have here.. Pretty.. gruesome.." Neteyam was looking over his dad's shoulder, frowning at all of them, "sir, is this normal for humans?" Again, you raise your eyebrows and you couldn't stop the next words you say from coming out of your mouth, "you call your father 'sir'? What is this, an army?" Raja widens her eyes, as well as Seb. Neytiri hisses your way in defense, Jake putting his arm out in front of her as to not make her pounce in you, but you don't flinch. You just looked at your father in disbelief at how he was treating his own son. It was awfully quiet as Jake didn't know what to reply. Your hard gaze on him made him feel something, guilt? Pain? He couldn't describe it, but he felt weird in some way. Luckily, Norm came back in his human body, clear mask on his face, "false alarm, he already got help from the other scientists and everything is go- what the hell happened here?" Norm could feel the tension in his bones as he watched the six of you. You were the first to speak up, "nothing is wrong here. So you will do our checkup right?" You walked towards your father, gripping the file map out of his hands and handing it over to Norm. Everyone's jaws drop to the ground and Neytiri drew her hunter's knife, "you sky demon I knew you couldn't be trusted! Such disrespectful behavior!" Jake takes a hold of his mate. They couldn't fight, not now. Neytiri needed to get out of here before blood was about to be drawn. "Ma Neytiri please, it's fine, could you please check up on Loak?" The tension was unbearable for Jake Sully. His eyes pleaded for himself to handle this. The grip on her knife loosened as she hissed again. Neteyam stepped towards his mother as his hand wrapped around hers, the one she was gripping the knife with, "mother please, please trust father." He himself had doubts about these humans, but it looked like his dad trusted them, so he should at least try right? As future Olo'eyktan. Looking into her son's eyes, she felt herself calm down as she lowered her knife, attaching it to her hip. She put her hand on Neteyam's cheek for a second before pulling her hand away. Once again, she threw a glance at you. "I'm watching you." She sent you a hiss as a warning and crept back into the forest. Great, you have a bad relationship with your dad's mate. Maybe this was for the best after all. Jake sighed, he shouldn't have taken Neytiri with him even after all her demands. With sky people she just met it was bound to go like this.
After that awkward ordeal, Neteyam led everyone to an open field in the forest. With your dad's gaze still lingering on your body, you decided to try and ignore it. Easier said than done. You yearned for your dad, but you couldn't give in. Neteyam and Jake stood to the side as the three of you started stretching in the conveniently open field that was formed into a circle. "The checkup is about strength, focus, and speed. You need to fight one vs one hand-to-hand combat battles against one another without masks on."
"Without masks?! Are they out of their mind?!"
"Do you expect an answer or?"
"No I don't!"
Seb and Raja continued their daily bickering as always, but your mind was completely somewhere else. Jake seemed to notice this, as he walked towards you. He had this urge to comfort you. Could it be, because you had the same name as his daughter on earth? Maybe, but maybe if he took care of you, he could feel at peace again. He sat on his knees and put his hand on your shoulder, making you look his way. "I'm sorry for my mate, she can be very protective of me," he softly spoke to you, "and I don't blame you, you woke up after 6 years and your entire life is upside down. I understand." You pursed your lips at his words. Why was he being so soft to you? You couldn't stand it, not when he spoke like that, reassuring you like that. You didn't reply, you just gave him the shoulder as you stepped away from his grip. This just made him even more confused as his chest hurt, did he do something wrong when he met you? Was he staring at you a little too long? Did his gaze offend you?
"We will do three rounds and in those three rounds, you need to put your enemy down for ten seconds to win."
"Let's dance then, shall we?"
And those words you spoke, felt awfully familiar to Jake Sully.
Neteyam Sully watched in awe as you fought the final round against Seb. Your mask was on the ground as you pounced on the much taller guy. He tried to lock your legs with his to make you lose your balance, which would have given him an advantage, but you punched him in the face with your fist, making his mouth open and gasp for air. In his moment of panic, you used it to knock him face-first into the dirty mossy ground, keeping his head on the floor as you twisted his arm. You sat right on his back as you used your knee on his neck to keep him down, the other weighing on his lower back and arm. You gasped for air as you saw blurry, listening to Norm count to ten was honestly something. It sounded like he counted to a hundred in slow motion. When he yelled the word ten, you quickly got off your friend, crawling towards your mask. Jake wanted to run up to you to help you, but Norm told him to stop and that this was what you were supposed to do in a real battle if it would ever happen that you lose your mask. You quickly took your mask in your hand and put it on your face with a shaky hand, gasping for the oxygen you needed. You coughed loudly as you sat on your knees with your hands on the ground. Jake rushed towards you and put his arm around you, rubbing your back with his free hand, "are you okay?" worry in his tone as he spoke. Your eyes widen at the familiar hug. The warmth of his arms as he used to hold onto you as you snuggled against him in your sleep. But you couldn't. You held onto his hand, letting the touch linger your skin before you pushed it away, "I'm good, yes." You stood up and walked towards Norm, not looking back at him once.
Just what was it with you?
And why did it hurt how you treated him?
A/N: I was lowkey insecure about posting this part 3 fr, idk if I liked it. I kept adding and adding details in the hope I would feel better about it, so here's a longer part than usual. Hope you enjoyed it. Pls tell me what you think. <3
YOUNGEST SULLY ii
summary the youngest daughter of the sully family is just two years younger than tuk. just how the sully family treats her!
pairing sully! reader x platonic! sully family
note this is not proof-read!
a/n it's been months since i paid attention to my stories lmao. i'm so sorry for the late post! i hope this is good enough for all of you
part one | part two
jake shared a special moment with each of his children, and he wants to make one with you
out of the siblings in their younger years, you are the most adventurous, even more than lo'ak
you had the knack of throwing everything everywhere and jake wanted to turn that into a hobby
what's better than archery?
jake brought you to a small pond that he brought neteyam when he was just younger. now that he's fifteen, he's more focused on his warrior duties. although they are small, neteyam always exceeded in his tasks. he secretly hoped that you shared the same passion as your big brother.
"daddy, look! this fish has blue and green on it's skin!" you exclaimed, your face nearing the water.
"that's beautiful," he smiled. jake made sure to note what the fish looked like to avoid hitting it with the arrow. just as he was about move closer, all the arrows he had on his arms fell on the ground. groaning, he picked them up. "so, sweetie. here's the plan for todayâŚ"
jake began explaining without even taking a glance at you
you were fascinated with the fish, until you weren't
the sounds of leaves ruslting in the forest made your ear twitch, looking at your father to see if he recognised it, but he didn't
you pondered over your decision if you should follow it and alert your dad, but you knew he would say no
you learned a lot from your big brother, lo'ak. he says, "dad will always say no, so learn how to do things secretly."
jake continued to explain the basics of archery. of course, he told you how archery was your mother's and neteyam's forte and how it could become yours tooâ he wishes you do. "you ready, babygirl?" he asked with a grin presented on his face, however, it quickly vanished when you weren't there.
"y/n?" jake yelled, running through the forest.Â
he trailed back to the path the two of you used, but you weren't there. the area close to the lake was clear too. distraught, he gripped his dread locks. where could you have possibly gone? or perhaps someone took you at his vulnerable moment? what if something happened to you? oh, jake wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
jake then ultimately decided to get back home to inform neytiri about what's happened, and then call his warriors to go do a search for you. just as he was about to turn back, the sound of your giggles caused his ears to perk up. he quickly rushed to the direction he heard your voice.
"y/n!" he called again.Â
"daddy!"Â
jake assumed, from your heartily laughs, that you found something intriguing again
like a flower with colours that you have never seen, or a baby pa'li that lost his mother and you brought it home with you to make it a family pet (jake had to make a dramatic story about how it left because you didn't want to let it go)
but to his horror, you were playing with a palulukan
he stood frozen in his place as the palulukan guarded you from him, hissing
"y/n, come here."
you furrowed your eyebrows. "but, why? it's luka!"
it was jake's turn to look at you with confusion. "a what?"
"luka!" you groaned and rolled your eyes like it was supposed to be the easiest thing known to pandora. "he found me days ago when i went to the forest alone."
"you went to the forest alone?"
you nodded proudly. "uh-huh! when no one was watching!"
it took a while for luka, the palulukan, to let his guard down around jake
apparently, you created the bond with luka a few days ago
you didn't think it would be a big deal. you've seen your mom and dad bond with creatures, why can't you?
jake started to regret describing palulukan as creatures who only acts to defend themselves in a heroic way to you because who knew you would bond with one?
he's just glad that you were safe
when jake finally convinced you it was time to go, you hugged luka by the head and he only nodded his head
the plan he had now were long forgotten, the first thing he wanted to do was tell neytiri how their youngest daughter, who was only 5 years old, tamed a palulukan
their little palulukan makto <3
neytiri never imagined having a big family
she thought that she would stop with two children, but as her children grew, she realised that she wanted more until she didn't
five was already enough for her
each of her children had distinguished personalities that separate themselves
neteyam is responsible and composed. truly what the eldest should be
kiri is connected to everything around her, yet she could be mischevious at times
lo'ak is famous for his rebellious attitude
tuk is charming and funny, well expected for her age
but you, however, are different. you were a well mix of your older siblings. you could be responsible sometimes, scolding tuk and even lo'ak for the things they did. you tamed a palulukan at a young age! and you love walking around the forest, something kiri loves to do everyday. most of the time, you would engage lo'ak in his activities and get scolded by your father together. and tuk, she's your partner in crime.
neytiri thanks the great mother every night for the family she received
"mama," your small and soft voice calls for her.
neytiri hummed, her eyes staying on the top she's weaving for you. recently, you complained about your top being old and repetitive, so she decided to make you a new one.Â
neteyam and lo'ak were out with jake for warrior duties, kiri was with mo'at for her tsakarem duties, and tuk was with her bestfriend. you didn't feel like playing with anyone, and stayed at home with your mother.
"i want to be like you when i grow up."
"is that so, little one?" neytiri smiled.
"yeah! i want to be a mother."
neytiri's eyes widened, instantly her gaze left the work from her hands and to you. you were smiling up at her innocently. she thought that when you said you wanted to be like her, she assumed that it would be a great hunter.
"a mother?" she repeated, still flabbergasted. "why is that?"
"because it's beautiful, don't you think? you and papa raised us, we turned out great. neteyam's recognised as a promising future olo'eyktan, kiri is connected to Eywa than grandma, lo'ak's outgoing nature makes him easy to talk to, and tuk makes anyone feel special. i want to raise a family as great as ours, mama! but maybe it's because you did a good job thoughâŚ" you trailed off. "doesn't matter! i'll do a good job too!"
neytiri only watched you with tears welling in her eyes
of course, she knew she did a good job. she sees it everyday and was told by jake with any opportunity he gets
but to hear it from one of your children, moreso youngest?Â
you paused when a tear fell from your mother's eyes, trickling down her cheek
"mama, is everything okay-"
neytiri placed her hand on the side of your head, smiling fondly, her thumb brushing your temple. "you have grown too fast," she whispered. she leaned closer and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
you smiled brightly at the action. "did i grow taller?"
neytiri laughed, "oh, yes. really tall."
"do you think i would grow as tall as neteyam?"
and one by one, her children came back to their home
neteyam and lo'ak were first. tired from their duties, lo'ak didn't waste his time to sleep on his mat while neteyam joined them
kiri and tuk were next. tuk joined the circle and began telling her adventures with her bestfriend today
because of the noise, lo'ak woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. neteyam beckoned him to join them, because he didn't have a choice. he begrudgingly joined the circle
soon, the kids were lively and conversing with one another
neytiri observed them, her smile never leaving her face
she sighed happily, "thank you, great mother."
Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because itâs already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.
