I don't even know how to begin to express how incredible and affirming Isaac's storyline was in the new heartstopper season (not surprising, given that Alice Oseman has written multiple ace-centric books), but like. wow

it was especially amazing seeing him pick up Ace by Angela Chen, which was extremely influential to me as well!! not to mention iconic aro ace book Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman. and Alice Oseman's Loveless is lurking around in the background all season, which is the BEST kind of cameo imo!

I'm one of those people who notices little things in shows and stuff, for example, the books Isaac was reading throughout the show. One of these books was called Summer Bird Blue which I've read and it is actually one of the best things ever written in my opinion. I don't want to ramble on but in the book, the main character struggles to understand if she has romantic feelings for a boy and if she has or will ever have romantic feelings ever (It talks about how she's looked up Ace and Aroace and all that and she still doesn't know if she fits in the label) anyway I guess I thought it was just cool that he was reading it.

(I'm too lazy to go back and find the scene that he reads it in but when I do go back I'll edit the post and add the photo lol)

Summer bird blue is my favorite book with aspec rep tbh. It’s not the main point of the book by any means but I think it does a really good job of depicting the uncertainty of trying to figure out your sexuality when what you’re trying to define is an absence of feeling. like that one post about trying to find turtles in a pond. The MC goes on a date with a friend she likes at one point and her feelings about it iirc were basically “well… that was nice but I don’t think it was quite right.”
