With the solstice round the corner I have been finding much happiness in all the blooms around me. As the great wheel turns I am reminded to stop and find joy in the abundance of life, even in these sad and challenging days. Summer Solstice - 21st/22nd of June. On the Journal / Rituals The summer solstice – otherwise known as the estival solstice, midsummer or Litha – is the longest day of the year. A cause of celebration for many, whether you feel a spiritual connection to the power of the sun or are simply relieved that the warm-weather months have finally arrived. The summer solstice in the northern hemisphere occurs in June and in the southern hemisphere in December. It occurs when the earth’s geographical pole on either the northern or southern hemisphere becomes most inclined towards the sun and officially marks the beginning of summer. Summer Solstice is the most powerful day of the year for the Sun God. Because this Sabbat glorifies the Sun God and the Sun, fire plays a very prominent role in this festival. A candle should be lit for the entire day, especially if it is cloudy or raining. The fire represents the sun and is a constant daily reminder of the power of the God.
