What are you talking about Dee? Medical facilities aren't anything like "salvation", it's just a place where people are healed?

Sure, some people want to participate in their life, decisions and politics so to associate them to those processes is an interesting thing... but they'd still need somewhere/someone to help/heal them, right?

And it's really where Yuri shines - and reminds us that this support can only happen in AG - because he completely corrects Dimitri, if Dimitri wants to associate commoners to decision-making, they should at first receive education :

I love this last sentence, because man does it ring differently when you consider Yuri was the de facto guy in charge of the Abyss - where people complained in every explore section about Church/Nobles BaD - special mention to Hapi "CoS BaD they promised me they'd cure me but it has been a year since I'm here, I know I am a danger to the people living on the surface, I most likely never told them who experimented on me nor where she was nor what kind of stuff she did to me, and I haven't been cured since!"

Problem is, people aren't in the mood to learn anything when they don't know where their next meal is coming from or where they'll sleep that night.

I know some politician I love to joke about once said "morality don't feed your belly", but this is in the same vein - people can think about education/doing the "right thing" and whatnot... only when their lives aren't in immediate danger, like, say, because they're starving or on the streets.

That's where I think we have the closest "thoughts" Yuri has about the Abyss - sure it's not all roses and daisies, far from that, but it's still a place where people who have nowhere to go, well, can go, and eat.

Yuri is here to remind Dimitri that people still need to survive before receiving proper education, aka, they need "support" to be able to walk on their own legs, or decide to do what they want.

Compare this to Supreme Leader's "if the weak remain weak it's because they're too used on rely on others" and while I really dislike how Dimitri was teetering to close to that edge on his own and only reconsidered when Yuri reminded him of, uh, something that should be common sense - for a Fodlan game, I still find it very nice that this issue was adressed (and it even recontextualises the Abyss from FE16, something FE16 couldn't do bcs, Church BaD).

Now, I know Yuri can join Tru Piss and Supreme Bullshit, but is it any wonder that his paralogue is AG oriented, his supports are AG oriented (save for the ones who are always available + Marianne) and he has no interaction with members of the Empire?

Ah yes, the meeting the boyfriend. But then the reverse... I love these tropes.

Summary: (Y/N) meets the fam. And the tables turn.

Warnings: minor cursing, but not much, usual hurt them we hurt you talk... (Y/N) being sweet.

Dick was nervous as hell. Like never before even. And he is Nightwing, fighting crime and criminals alike. But never would have prepared him for introducing his boyfriend to his family. He loved his family, his brothers and father and Alfred as his grandpa, but they were all protective.

Someone meeting his family meant subtle threats, jabs and once that someone is gone, a background check. It was annoying to Dick and he told his family so. He really did. But his family doesn't really listen to him, saying that it was for his own good. You never know who is dating you due to a connection to the last name Wayne.

So, they might have had a point about that part. But still. Dick knows who is with him due to the connection to the Wayne family. He would know who is with him for material reasons. He knows the signs.

But (Y/N) isn't like that.

(Y/N) is a genuinely the nicest person ever. Happy too. Just happy to exist. Even in Bludhaven. I mean, what more could Dick ask for? He had his own personal sunshine. (Y/N) often volunteered, whether or not is it in an animal shelter homeless shelter, charities and what else. Also, that's the reason why (Y/N) has 3 cats at his apartment and probably will have more if he brings more kittens from the shelter.

All in all, Dick was happy with (Y/N) and knew that (Y/N) was just as serious about this relationship as Dick was. That much was obvious and after a year of dating, just to be sure that (Y/N) was serious about this, Dick decided to bring his boyfriend to his family, so they could meet him.

Dick was... Nervous to say the least. He didn't want his family to run (Y/N) off. (Y/N) was probably the one for Dick. And Dick refused to let it slip through his fingers and allow his family to scare (Y/N) off. Nope. Not happening.

Dick parked the car in the manor's yard, turning to look at his boyfriend, who smiled at Dick.

" Are you nervous? " Dick asked (Y/N), who shook his head in response. " Really? You aren't? " Dick teased and (Y/N) huffed.

" It's easier knowing your night job identity. And then knowing about the others too, you know... It's easier. But no, I'm not nervous. " (Y/N) explained, opening the passenger door to get out.

Dick laughed as he got out too, walking over to (Y/N) to hold his hand, intertwining his own fingers with (Y/N)'s. They squeezed their hands and Dick rang the doorbell, waiting for Alfred to open the door.

" There is no turning back now anyway. " Dick said, making (Y/N) huff.

" I can simply snatch the keys and drive off. " (Y/N) responded, making Dick chuckle.

" You wouldn't. " Dick teased again and (Y/N) opened his mouth to retort, but Alfred opened the door, smiling at the duo.

" Master Dick, it's always great to see you. And this must be master (Y/N). " Alfred said, extending his hand to shake (Y/N)'s. (Y/N) shook Alfred's hand with a smile.

" It's nice to meet you Alfred. Dick always speaks highly of you. " (Y/N) stated, making Alfred chuckle.

" I can only hope so. Please, come in you two. " Alfred said as he stepped aside to let the two in. (Y/N) smiled as he looked around, turning and tilting his head.

" This is a beautiful place... " (Y/N) muttered, making Dick smile. Manor is truly a beautiful place, both inside and out. Dick knew that (Y/N) would love it.

" I agree. But you should see the garden later. It's like a piece of art. Now come on, let me introduce you to my family. " Dick said as he lead (Y/N) into the big dining room, where his brothers and father were.

Everyone stopped talking and turned their heads to look at Dick and the mysterious boyfriend that Dick talked about before.

" Everyone, this is (Y/N), my boyfriend. " Dick announced and Bruce stood up, ready to shake his hand. Dick's brothers followed and soon enough, everyone sat down at the table, ready to be served by Alfred.

" That's a nice occupation. " Bruce chimed in. " No stress, some paperwork I assume, but all in all, a relaxing job. " Bruce elaborated and (Y/N) nodded in conformation.

" That is true, it's a great occupation. " (Y/N) said and then turned his head when he heard Titus coming. (Y/N) knew who Titus was, seen many pictures from Dick.

" Why hello. " (Y/N) said as Titus approached him, curious to see who the newcomer to the household is. Damian watched from his seat, curious about (Y/N)'s reaction with Titus. One way to judge someone's character is to see how they interact with animals. And Damian was very serious about his animals.

Dick watched from (Y/N)'s right how (Y/N) scratched Titus' ear, talking to him as if he was a baby. Essentially, in a universal tone reserved for all dogs. Well, all animals, lets be honest.

(Y/N) watched as Titus walked off, ready to just go to sleep as usual on the couch, making sure to take as much space as possible. As it normally is for dogs, of course.

" He is cute. " (Y/N) stated once Titus walked off.

" That he is. I presume you are an animal lover? " Damian inquired and (Y/N) nodded.

Soon enough, the food was served and everyone dug into the food. (Y/N) was in love with the food, even asking Alfred for the recipe. It was incredible food and (Y/N) was happy once he finished his plate, even bloating up a bit.

Dick smile when he saw that. It meant that (Y/N) was full and happy.

" I have to say... That was amazing... (Y/N) said and Dick smiled at him, putting his hand on his knee.

" Yeah, Alfred is an amazing cook. " Dick noted quietly, sighing quietly from how much he ate. It was an incredible feast, that much was true.

" I'm going to the bathroom, excuse me everyone. " (Y/N) said as he stood up, slowly walking to the bathroom.

Everyone waited until he was out of earshot and then happened something that Dick never expected to hear.

" Dick, if you hurt him, I'm disowning you. " Bruce said shortly, making Dick spit his water out.

" What? " He asked as he coughed the remaining water out.

" You heard me. That boy is sunshine personified. Smiling, happy, nice to animals... How in God's name did you manage to get him? " Bruce questioned and Dick was confused.

" I agree with old man here. He's too good for you. I mean... I agree, you hurt him, you are no longer the member of the family. " Jason said, reaching for his glass of water.

Even Tim and Damian agreed with the fact that (Y/N) was too good for Dick, giving their own older if you hurt him talk... Holy shit.

" Yes you dumbass. " Jason said, making Dick scoff in the process. " We like your boyfriend and he is genuine. He is clearly in love with you and vice versa. And if you mess this up, I'm killing you. " Jason added, making Dick roll his eyes.

" I won't mess it up Jay. "

" Good. If you do, sleep with one eye open. "

Dick scoffed again, crossing his arms. Tim chuckled quietly and Damian snickered quietly.

The subject of being sick came up often in asks, and he struggles really hard with it. It's not obvious, but if you look closely, his quills are pin straight, and he's easily more agitated.

He's not mad at you, it's not your fault, it's just that seeing you curl up into bed brings back so many bad memories of when Maria has flare ups and couldn't leave her bed.

It made him feel useless. His whole reason for being was to help cure illness, maybe not the common cold. He's aware of that, but the point remains.

Shadow gets more docile, even going to ask Maddie what to do. The woman offers to come over and take care of you instead, but Shadow shuts her down quickly. He's more than capable, and he's a little overprotective.

"Are you sure? I don't mind, I don't have anything going on."

"That isn't necessary."

"But it might be better if it's m-"

"I can take care of them."

It's hard to argue with a 5ft hedgehog that can easily snap your neck, so she regents and hands him over some cold and flu medicine along with painkillers and vaporub and instructions. He looks so silly with all of it in his arms, Gatorade, water, the medicine, some food, but it warms your heart. You haven't had anyone really look after you when you were sick, always left to fend for yourself, so it's nice.

Shadow using his hands as personal heating pads for your stomach or the small of your back, you can't seem to remember where you put your heating pad so he sits there with you and just, shoves his hand onto your skin, it's added comfort due to his fur.

Speaking of the others, you try and force him to spend time with team Sonic to varying degrees of success. Mainly the success being if you will also be there and be by his side. The team likes you well enough, always playfully telling you that they can handle Shadow if he ever hurts you.

You'd think they'd learn that this man doesn't play when it comes to you, but they're a bit stupid.

When it comes to any insecurities you may have, he shuts that shit down IMMEDIATELY, you think it's because he genuinely doesn't give a fuck, but no, it's because he cares about you and will logically tell you facts. Does it help? It's varying, but he still tries.

Issue with your weight. He doesn't care. Are you healthy? That's all that matters. He's strong enough to lift you up, and he'll demonstrate it on you if need be. He doesn't know who put it into your head that there's any issue with it, but he'll fix it.

Due to how charismatic Geto is with people, he'd try and convert you by force.

Fighting him will only make things harder for yourself.

I can see Geto doing everything in his power to break you down.

I'm talking things like kidnapping, isolation, degradation, all sorts of things to mess with your head and break your resolve.

Geto may even kill non-sorcerers in front of you to show how weak they are, how you couldn't help them even if you tried just like he couldn't....

Geto would take pleasure in this, too.

If you just agreed with him, if you just listened...

You wouldn't have to go through this.

But, no, you want to be all innocent and righteous.

Fine, be that way, he'll make you see his way.

Geto would break you, making you used to all the bloodshed and whispering small words of propaganda and encouragement in your ear... then he'll make you his little puppet.

He's condescending, laughing when you shake at the blood covering your clothes and hands.

This is the real world, dear!

Why not help him remake it?

He stops being condescending and degrading when you break and listen to him.

At that point you're no longer a Sorcerer... you're a Curse User.

By this point he'd either treat you like a student/successor... or a lover in his cult.

He's so much nicer when he takes the fight out of you.

He plans to reform you, to bring back that fight against normal humans.

There's no need to cry... he'll comfort you once you transition over.

Sorcerer principles are so weak.

Once you drop them, Geto greets you with open arms.

If you're a student, he welcomes you as his newest successor... ready to be trained with a new mindset.

If you're someone he knew years ago, he greets his old friend with open arms.

He knew you'd eventually come to him.

You just needed some convincing.

His pet monkeys aren't allowed to touch you and you're never out of his sight.

You're important to him, which is ironic as this is the man who would shatter your mind just to keep you.

Your abilities are soon used for his motives.

Soon enough you're forced to depend on Geto.

He makes you feel like you need him with his words and manipulation.

Soon you'll forget all about being a Sorcerer.

On Charles, Edwin and Crystal's relationship with violence and how it does(and doesn't) solve their peoblems, and the inherit privledge of considering non-violence can always be the answer.

Before I get to it, sorry I cannot for the life of me find the post that talked about DBDA's relationship to violence aka that it shows that there is always a better solution and how most of the problems are solved through other means. It is a really good post, so if anyone knows it, please send me the link so I can put it here.

Anyway. What I wanted to say is that while yes, I partially agree, I don't think that's quite correct. Or not always. The series definitely makes a point of saying that things should be solved by other means whenever possible, but I think we see 3 instances where that isn't true. The first meeting with The Night Nurse and Charles, Crystal meeting David in the woods, and in part, Charles getting Edwin out of Hell.

Before I get to breaking down how each one was necessary, I think what kind of bothers me is the reaction Edwin and Crystal have to Charles attacking the Night Nurse. Not so much the inital reaction because I understand that they both have trauma connected to violence, but them insisting his reaction was extreme slightly...irks me?

I understand it from Crystal-she had a lot on her plate in the past few weeks and she just got out of abusive rs. Not to mention, she doesn't know Charles and Edwin for that long. But Edwin? My god did I wanna shake him.

Like, don't get me wrong, I love Edwin to death and the fact that he is flawed is part of that but I wish it was acknowledged that his disregard for self defense and to be able to not only refuse violence, but in many cases when Charles steps in to protect him to not even move aside because he knows Charles is there for what it is-a privledge. The fact that he never had ti physically defend himself ever since he got out of Hell is a privledge because Charles does it. And to no small personal cost. I don't think Charles likes to be violent. He doesn't revel in it, and we actually see him break down several times over thinking he is a bad person because he uses violence to defend himself and his friends.

Does he sometimes use it impulsively? Yes, as seen in the episode with the Devlins'. And he pays dearly for hi error, being stuck in a loop that's directly related to his own trauma.

But in some situations, there was no other answer. The Night Nurse would have made him and Edwin relieve their trauma until they gave in. Crystal couldn't help and in that moment, neither could Niko. Charles' violence gave them more time, which gave Edwin and then Niko, more time to think of a peaceful solution. Of a bargain. But it would not have been possible without Charles kicking her off the cliff.

For the scene with David in the woods-yeah, sure he didn't solve the whole problem of David altogether, but he did A) male him fuck off for the forseeable future and B) helped Crystal feel safer due to the fact he defended her when she was powerless. With the violence, he gives her time to gain her powers back, to come and resolve it directly when she feels safe and confident enough to do so.

We see it once again when he goes to save Edwin in Hell. Yes, they get out of Hell by running, but when Charles initally suggests it, Edwin is terrified. "If I run it chases me," he says and he doesn't move. So what does Charles do? He throws a bomb at the Dollhead Spider. Which once again, gives them time to run and escape and perhaps more importantly makes Edwin feel safe.

Violence is considered bad for a reason. But I think who and why someone uses violence is very important. A bully throwing a hit for fun and a victim throwing one back to defend themselves aren't the same. They cannot be the same. And bullies, no matter the form they take, sometimes only understand violence.

I am not saying go ahead and kill someone for bullying you. But I am saying that sometimes, the teachers don't listen until you throw a punch back. Problems should always be tried to solved peacefully, but if you think every problem can be solved non-violently, I think you had the privledge to never have to do so.

Charles takes on the burden of being a protector, of using violence as means of protection and I really hope that's acknowledged at some point. Because while yes, Edwin obviously has his own talents, Charles does his job at a great personal cost. And sometimes, while violence cannot solve the root of the problem, it can give you more time and space to get to the root. And that's okay, as long as you don't lose sight of why are you using measures you are using.

So once upon a time, I'm sure we all know the story of how JK got Jimin to stop dieting unhealthily.

Exhibit b) The live they did after their UN speeches.

V is the one who starts the whole thing by making fun of Jimin apologising after he made his mistake during his speech. (I already talk about JK being there for Jimin here) Other members chime in and at first Jimin is laughing with them. But then at some point he stops laughing, just sits there as they continue to make fun of him. Then he starts chewing on his nails which alot of the time is a sign of nerves

And he absolutely shrinks in on himself. Of course JK notices immediately and that's when he tells the members to cut it out. He tells them how they should be making Jimin feel better. Not making fun of him. Immediately all the members, at the same time, backtrack. They start praising Jimin and saying how they get it.

Because we don't talk about Yoonmin 😏 we have to note that all of them made fun of Jimin but JK only spoke up after Suga said this

Yes. Seven. The summer song of the year. Love to watch it. Love to hear it. So, I think we can all agree its a sex song. Period. That's what it is. It's a proper love making song. A topic we love to discuss on this side of tumblr.... but, have we stopped for a second to explore the romantic side of SEVEN?

So we established SEVEN is basically satellite Jeon in a nutshell. Which that alone is quite big. Always wanting to be with your person, next to your person no matter what. But JK chasing after his love interest from beginning to end till she gives in shows;

He would do anything for the one he loves. He would walk through fire. Through storms. Go anywhere... if it means its for the one he loves. He is devoted, he is all in. Deeper than the ocean. And this is basically what this post is all about, really. JK's devotion for Jimin. Deeper than the God damn ocean.

Jikook don't have an only fans so we haven't seen this in action and there4 have no way of knowing that JK is like this in the bedroom. Jimin made the group ramen (his specialty) and as u can see JK was already telling him how perfect it tastes and yet he hadn't even tasted it yet. Even editors noticed 😂😂

Bv 1 finale no one praises Jimin's santa and he laments as much.

We know our Mimi loves to be complimented and praised; absolutely feeds off of that shit. And JK knows this which is why he immediately tells Jimin "yours is the best" Jimin is so happy to hear this, cheeses so hard that even the editors notice.

Gosh... he was so happy 🥺🥺 Jimin has a praise kink and JK is great at fulfilling this. Aaah. Shit. Now I'm wondering if this extends to the bedroom 🤔 I'm pretty sure it does 🙈🙈🙈

Then we have ITS when JK tasted Jimin's food, once again, high praises.

And then when when Jimin says

JK replied "I know."

Something about this moment drives home to me the fact that Jimin doesn't cook well, at home. JK does. But we already knew this from Jin ("Jungkook is Jimin's chef")

On the topic of praises, when other members try to make fun of Jimin JK will quickly make sure Jimin knows he doesn't feel the same way. This and exhibit b are like sisters. They can go hand in hand 😆

So Bon Voyage season 1 Jimin was cooking for Jin. As soon as Jimin placed the plate on the table JK did not once take his eyes off of it.

And, this was after JK kept going to keep an eye on Jimin cooking even though they weren't team mates or nothing. I'm telling y'all, Jimin sits pretty at home while JK does all the cooking. Anyway, when Jin tastes the food he says;

But the way he says it, its like he's taking the piss. It wasn't complimentary. So JK of course went;

And he couldn't get to that dish fast enough

And he devoured the rest of it

While the rest, mind you, are still making fun of Jimin/his dish. But JK didn't give a shit. His baby had made that plate and by God he was going to enjoy every second of it.

Once again, to me, this cements my theory that JK doesn't get to eat Jimin's food often. He gets way too excited when Jimin cooks, can't wait to taste his food, etc etc.

Which brings us to our next example where one time Jimin brought the entire group cucumber drinks and they hated it. Jhope goes on to explain just how much they hated the flavor.

There is a chorus of all the members agreeing with Jhope and even Jimin accepts that the cucumber drinks were terrible. But low and behold, look what the boyfriend had to say about it

Look, in JK's eyes, Jimin can do no wrong, okay? To JK, Jimin is perfect and that's that. End of story: No further questions. This behaviour is what I was talking about on my whipped post here.

Exhibit e) When JK checks on Jimin.

I don't gotta show many examples of this we've all seen it. JK always craning his neck over members to see what Jimin is up to. He always likes to know where Jimin is, what he's doing, which imo is amazing boyfriend behavior if u ask me.

A moment I've never seen talked about anywhere from BV 1; JK comes into the RV to check on Jimin who's sleeping.

I know he came to check on Jimin because he walks in, takes a peak, then walks back out. Almost like he had confirmed Jimin was okay and now he could go about his business.

Tell me thats not the sweetest, cutest thing ever!

Momiji, Kyo, and what it means to protect the ones we love (part 5 of 5)

From the beach arc onward, we see Kyo intentionally spending more time with Tohru. He asks her to hang out in Kyoto, he eventually agrees to be in the play, they spend the New Year together, and he does little nice things for her when he can, like washing her scarf, or giving her the paper flower when he sees how upset she is.

This isn't wildly different from S1 Kyo, of course. He's done little nice things for her right from the beginning, like going to pick her up from work in E2. But he's more intentional with it now, and he's aware of his feelings for Tohru and desire to spend time with her. He may still feel unworthy of her, but he finally accepts that his presence makes her happy, so he's willing to quash his self-hatred enough to spend time with her, for her sake.

And we see Momiji work at protecting Tohru, most notably in Ask Him For Me, when he tries to accompany her on her mission to find Kureno, and when she insists on going alone, he draws her a map, tells her to stick to the bushes and give his name if she's caught, and tails her to make sure she doesn't get into trouble as she searches for Kureno. (Just look how worried he is! And look at him getting Tohru out of there!) He sees that Tohru feels very strongly about being involved, so he does absolutely everything he can to make sure she can do so as safely as possible. We even see his memory of the night Akito scratched Tohru's cheek, just to make his worries crystal clear.

He also doesn't try to distract or manipulate Tohru when he realizes she's upset. He asks her what's wrong and listens, and he even cries with her.

Takaya also connects Momiji and Kyo in the structure of Ask Him For Me/manga chapters 74 and 75. Momiji's section of this episode is almost bookended by two appearances from Kyo.

Near the beginning, Tohru asks Kyo about Kureno, and he warns her not to go looking for trouble. And at the end, we have that rooftop conversation.

Tohru: It's only natural to want to be with the person you love, to want to be by their side, right? Kyo: What is it? Are you in love with some guy? Tohru: N-n-n-no! It's not about me! Kyo: Don't worry. When you do fall in love, you'll have my full support.

So, in this episode, we have Momiji trying to protect Tohru, and Kyo trying to cheer her up and spend time with her, a complete reversal from where they started relative to each other.

And then, Momiji grows up.

After Golden Week, a bunch of the kids gather at Shigure's house for dinner, and when Tohru notices that Kyo isn't with them, Momiji volunteers to go get him (Momiji really is always the one to invite Kyo to join everyone). In the manga, Tohru starts crying when she notices that Kyo's not with them, no doubt thinking of Kyo's upcoming confinement.

When Momiji arrives in Kyo's room, they have this exchange:

Kyo: You guys are gonna eat here, too? Momiji: It's okay, we settled on curry. Kyo: Whatever. You grew a lot, huh? Momiji: Right? Pretty soon I might be taller than you, and better looking! And then, and then... maybe Tohru will accept my proposal? Do you get that if you give up, something like that might happen? So you shouldn't give up. I'm gonna stop going, 'There's no point in thinking about this,' and giving up. Wouldn't it sting if some other guy took Tohru from you? Well, look at the time! We better go help make curry! Come on!

In the manga, it's made clear that Kyo is horrified that everyone knows he loves Tohru. He stands separate from the rest of the group at the barbecue. In the manga, he and Tohru share a cute moment of blushing eye contact.

I love how Momiji says he'll stop thinking it's pointless, too, after he encourages Kyo not to give up. In a conversation where he could have focused on the fact that Kyo is his romantic rival, he instead focuses on the fact that they both might have futures worth fighting for. They're fighting beside each other, even if they can't both be the one Tohru loves romantically.

Later that episode (or a few chapters later), Momiji's curse breaks. He now has a real future ahead of him, but he sees how Tohru looks at Kyo, and he knows that his own future won't be at her side like he wants.

Kyo: Momiji? Jeez, you're here of all places. Tohru and them are inside looking for you, so- Momiji: What? Kyo: Huh? Uh, nothing. Did something happen? Momiji: My curse is broken. Would it surprise you if I said that? Kyo: What? Listen, you- Momiji: Yours breaking would make Tohru happier than mine breaking. I'm sure she'd be happy. I mean... you know, right? I'm the one this stings. Kyo: Shut up. I don't wanna realize that. It's too...

Gosh, this scene breaks my heart every time. On both of their behalves. Momiji is dealing with his first real heartbreak, and Kyo is dealing with his extremely complicated feelings about loving Tohru, his guilt over Kyoko's death, and his upcoming confinement in the Cat's House.

It's clear Kyo cares for Momiji in this scene, and Momiji really tries to put on a happy face for Kyo, but he can't. Megumi Han does an outstanding job as Momiji in this scene. The way her voice breaks when Momiji smiles and says, "Would it surprise you if I said that?" is just crushing.

The visual storytelling is stunning, too. The wide shots, emphasizing how lonely both Momiji and Kyo are. The way the scene is composed to emphasize the distance between them. The close-ups on their faces when they're each grappling with the thing that's gutting them. The way Momiji's smiles are always immediately followed by the saddest looks. The way their solo shots mirror each other's, at the beginning, middle, and end. We also don't see Kyo's eyes between the moment Momiji says his curse is broken and when Kyo is saying, "I don't wanna realize that."

Before the beach arc, I don't think Momiji would have watched that sort of interaction from a distance, and I don't think he would have let it stop him from making plans with Tohru. He would've just wanted to make her smile and spend as much time with her as possible, even if that meant ignoring her feelings. And he definitely wouldn't have let himself feel sad. Momiji's pain in this scene is evidence of his growth.

That night, Momiji goes to speak to Akito, after having dismissed her the night before. His speech to her might be my favorite moment of the whole series. It's the climax of Momiji's arc, at the very least.

Momiji: I'm sorry I sent you home alone yesterday. I spent the whole day thinking. Wondering why my curse is gone... only mine. I couldn't think of anything that would cause it. But I can say this: Akito, I can't stay by your side for the rest of my life. And you can't tie me down anymore. [Akito slaps Momiji] Akito: Monster! Traitor. Traitor! [Akito beats her fists against Momiji's chest] Akito: If you leave here, leave me, you've got no place to go! Your mother and father won't just welcome you back! No one will! You'll never be happy! Momiji: I know. I've become so free, and so lonely. The curse breaking doesn't mean I'll get the girl I want. And the bonds that unconditionally connected me to everyone are gone. It's too late. I can't go back to before things were broken. But... but don't tell me that not having those things means I can't be happy! Don't just decide that! I feel vulnerable being free, but a happiness might exist for me! It might be somewhere in the future, waiting for me to catch up! I'm going to finally start walking along my own life's path. What about you? How long will you stay here? The person most afraid that if they leave this place, they'll have no home and no happiness... Akito: Shut up. Just shut up. Get lost. Momiji: Okay.

It's almost the credo of the whole series, isn't it? That it's better to make your own way, with no guarantee of love or happiness, than to cling to bonds that have become a burden and wish for things to never change. What Momiji's saying is what Akito needs to accept in order to be free herself.

And Momiji, despite all the loss he's suffered, despite having his heart broken that very afternoon, he's still determined to keep going.

I love this as the climax for Momiji's arc because it showcases the ways he's grown while also showing us the things that have always made him such a special character. He's standing up for himself and his future, not afraid to make Akito angry or say things she doesn't want to hear. He's acknowledging that it hurts, and that he might never have the family he so desires. But he also might.

It's a waste of time to think about loss or life getting harder. The traveler never thought about that stuff.

He still has hope, even as everything seems so dark. And he still tries to help Akito, even after everything she's done to him.

The parallels between Kyo and Akito in this episode/chapter are so well done. For both of them, the pain of moving forward is just too much right now, but Momiji still wants to see them both move forward anyway, and he's telling them this in a straightforward, mature way, rather than manipulating them.

And Momiji's not done affecting Kyo's arc.

After Kyo asks Tohru if she loves him, we see Momiji's face and hear him say, "I mean... you know, right?" Once more, it's Momiji whose voice Kyo hears at such a crucial moment.

It's painful for Kyo to finally accept that Tohru loves him. He doesn't know she already knows about his confinement, and worse still, he knows he has to tell her about the day of her mother's death.

But again, it was Momiji who led Kyo to realize that he loves Tohru in S2, and now it's Momiji leading Kyo to realize that Tohru loves him, too.

After Kyo unloads his guilt on Tohru, and Tohru falls from the cliff, it's really Yuki who gets Kyo to take the final step toward accepting Tohru's love, so I won't say much about that except to point out that Yuki says making Tohru smile was protecting her, and that only Kyo could make her smile like that.

I think this scene, where Momiji and Kagura team up to tease Kyo, is the last time we see Kyo and Momiji together. But they're still affecting each other's arcs all the way to the end.

After Kyo and Tohru get together, they visit Kyoko's grave, and Kyo asks Tohru to move away with him.

It's selfish, and it's going to take Tohru away from everyone else, but he still asks anyway. It's a very Momiji-like thing for him to do.

And then, he says this:

I'm taking her with me. You good with that? I'll keep my promise. I know I'm really late, but... I'll protect her for life. So, we're good, right?

He's taking her with him, and he'll protect her for life. He's learned from Momiji, but he's still Kyo.

As they get ready to leave, Tohru starts reminiscing and starts to cry because she'll miss everyone so much.

Kyo: Clearly you don't get it. Listen up: everyone loves you more than you think they do. So it'll be okay. This isn't the last time you'll ever see them. It's the start of a new banquet, right?

In his last appearance, Kyo hugs her and cheers her up and offers a healthy dose of optimism for their future.

And the last time we see Momiji, he's sitting at the dojo with Haru and Rin.

Momiji: More importantly, how dare Kyo take Tohru with him! I bet he just wants her all to himself. I wanna pinch him! Really hard! Haru: Why not pinch him tomorrow? Momiji: Nah, I can't do it in front of Tohru. Oh, but thanks to him, I have another dream. I'm going to find an amazing significant other, and we're gonna go visit them just to show off! So Tohru had better stay happy. She'd better keep on smiling, or I'll be disappointed.

He's complaining and getting annoyed at Kyo (and threatening light physical violence!), but he's still dreaming of a bright future for himself. And he's trusting Kyo to keep cheering Tohru up in their new home.

When I started thinking about writing this series, the point I thought I'd be making was that Momiji functioned as Kyo's mentor in Fruits Basket. But after putting these posts together, I really think it'd be more accurate to say they were each other's mentors. Their relationship has a mutuality from the start. I hope they remained close as adults.

And I really hope Momiji found an amazing partner.

Cutting Ties

A/N: it's ex Eddie. Steve and Reader aren't dating, bu they are both there for each other on extreme levels. Also, I know that this trope is overused.

Summary: When bad memories come strolling back into town you try to protect the few things that you hold sacred.

He made it big, you always knew he would, you used to talk about it when you both were in high school.

It’s been four years since he left, not wanting to be tied down. Or whatever that means.

You were twenty when he left.

Now, you had your life put together, you had a job with a stable income, you had a roof over your head. You are able to support your daughter in anything she wants to do. She’s in gymnastics and she loves it, it’s a way to get her energy out during the day.

Steve… Steve is your rock.

From the start Steve has been by your side, supporting you in every decision you make. Holding your hand while you sit in doctors appointments. He held you as you cried when the doctor left the room after announcing that you might lose her.

He sat next to you during your twelve hour labour, rubbing your shoulders are you tried to breathe.

You made sure Wayne was in Mia's life, he deserved that much, Eddie doesn't call him anymore.

You didn't know he was in town, you wish you would've. Steve agreed to meet you at three to pick the both of you up after Wayne had made the both of you lunch. The three of you started a tradition, every sunday Wayne would pick you up and either take you out to lunch or one of you would make something.

It was nice. Steve worked sundays so he would pick you up after work.

You wish someone had told you he was in town.

But when there is knocks on the door at 2:30, you meet Wayne's curious eyes, "Did ya boy get off early?"

"I don't think so." You hand Mia her brownie that Wayne had made for dessert, giving her a kiss on the forehead while Wayne goes to get the door.

"Eds! W-what are you doin' here?"

"That's not the welcome I was expecting, old man."

"Wasn't exceptin' ya."

"That's usually what a surprise visit is." Wayne looks to you and it's not like you can't let him in, so you just nod, giving him permission.

Mia has noticed the disruption, stopping mid chew as a strange man walks in. You try to obscure Eddie's view of her the best you can.

Eddie walks in and meets your eyes. He opens his mouth say something but Mia interrupts him. "Mamma, I can't see."

Eddie's eyes go wide as you slowly move over to the side. "Hi! What's your name? Are you grampa's friend?"

"I-I don't understand."

You just sigh, turning to Mia, "Baby, I'm gonna go outside and you're gonna stay and eat this delicious brownie that Wayne made you, okay?"

"otay." and just like that she begins shoving her face once more.

You softly close the door behind you after motioning for Eddie to go outside. "What- Who is that?"

"That's my daughter." You cross your arms as Eddie moves to the picnic bench, you just sit at on the bench while he paces back and forth.

"How old is she?" He knows the answer, you don't have to give it to him, but you do.

"Three."

"You should've told me." Eddie finally meets you eyes, "You should've fucking told me!"

"How?! How was I supposed to tell you? Call you? I didn't have your number, I didn't get an address. You left and said you didn't want to be tied down. What more to tie you down more than a child?" You huff, rolling your eyes at his audacity.

"Even Wayne knew?"

"Once I had her, it was hard to keep quiet." You run your hands through your hair, "It didn't take him long to connect the dots."

"He didn't tell me." Eddie looks angry, he's completely fuming.

"You stopped calling!" You throw your hands in the air, looking at him from across the table.

"Does everyone know?"

"No, they think-" You get cut off by a door opening to your left, it's not the trailer door, it's a car.

"Hey hone-" Steve pauses, looking to you, then meeting Eddie's eyes, "Munson."

"Harington?"

"Steve, will you go get Mia?"

"Uh-yeah."

"Her name is Mia?" Eddie's expression goes soft at that.

That's when Steve walks in the trailer, the door open enough for the words Mia shouts to echo out to the two of them. "Dada!"

"Hey pumpkin."

Eddie meets your eyes, "Is that my daughter calling Steve Fucking Harrington Dad?"

"She's not yours."

"She isn't? So she doesn't have my hair and my eyes?"

jimmy is very encouraging. like if you're down or anxious about something he'll listen intently and give you the most motivational pep talk you've ever heard. he cares a lot and shows it with quality time and just being there!!!

tolkien is very good at listening. he might not understand everything you're going through, but he tries very hard to hear you out and give advice. he also reassures you that he's always there for you

craig isn't the best at showing his own emotions in the first place, so he's kinda. panicky if you're sad. he's learned a lot from tweek though, and will listen closely and try to validate what you say.

clyde doesn't always understand, but he tries. he'll listen to you talk and gives shitty advice, and is generally kinda knuckle-headed. he genuinely cares though

He absolutely does not approve of your friendship with Elio and will try calmly telling you so. He doesn't want to control who you're friends with, but this is an exception to him. He doesn't want you to get hurt or used, so he'll slowly try you to get you to distance yourself from Elio for your own safety.

He only sometimes tell him to soften up a bit or to ask for a happy ending cuz "you scare Chopper", afraid that if there won't be a happy ending in the story, there will be none for them as well.

Usopp goes on shopping with Nami to be sure that she won't buy Zoro anything that will only clown him as she somehow does with casual clothing for Sanji, but well it is his deal... The Glade was split on what to do. Half of us thought we should trust Thomas and try to get out. The other half thought Greenie was insane and didn't know a single thing about being here.

Minho was on the side of trusting Greenie. I was on the side that he was out of his shucking mind.

"Oh come on Newt. One night in the pit, you really think that's going to stop him from going in the maze again?"Gally pointed out.

I'm thinking about Sonic going from just a regular guy, to becoming a rumor, then a myth, then a legend, then, eventually, a deity of sorts.

Like, okay, he's still a normal dude. That is, if normal dudes can run at the speed of sound and harness ultimate power to defeat gods and titans.

But the more people he saves, the more people learn about him. And I would have to imagine that Sonic as a figure feels very mythical to the average person, especially if they've never met him.

This guy protects the planet and has saved it from monumental threats and he has never once demanded anything in return, not even recognition for his actions. And nobody, save for a very small few, knows anything about him.

When crises happen, the average person starts hoping for Sonic to show up and save them all. As time goes on, these hopes evolve into something more like prayers.

When Sonic dies, memorials are created around the planet for the fallen hero. It's strange to think that he's actually gone, even in the aftermath of Eggman's conquests. People visit these memorials and leave flowers or other small gifts, in honor of the hedgehog who saved them all time and time again, and they almost feel more like tribute.

Sonic comes back to life and these memorials become more like holy sites. Just because Sonic's alive doesn't mean there isn't still this drive to treat these places like temples, temples where Sonic is their deity.

It makes Sonic uncomfortable when he starts to come across them, while the Restoration is still fixing the planet. People making offerings and praying in his name, thanking him for protecting the planet and asking him to continue to do so. What's even worse is when these types of people meet him directly, and he has to deal with his worshippers falling at his feet.

He liked it a whole lot better when he was dodging interviews and autographs. He never wanted anything like this.

When he discusses it with his friends, they generally agree that yeah, it is pretty weird. But it also feels like many of them look at him differently these days, too.

Especially Knuckles.

They have a conversation about it once.

"Do you know what makes something a god?" Knuckles had asked.

"Well, I've fought a few of them, so I should probably know," Sonic joked, catching the way Knuckles' frown deepened in a lack of amusement. "Well, they all tend to have a lot of power."

"Sure, but where do you think that power comes from?"

"Uh, chaos energy?"

Knuckles sighed. "It's more than that. Look at Shadow. He's got loads of chaos energy, but you wouldn't consider him a god, would you?"

"I don't know, he is supposedly immortal."

"Sonic."

"What?" Sonic put his hands up. "I don't get your point, Knux. Why are you even asking me this?"

"Gods are formed from worship."

Sonic froze. It hit him immediately what Knuckles was implying. He forces out a chuckle. "I don't think a few misguided people treating me like some otherworldly force means anything, pal."

"You know it's not just a few people, Sonic. This is a global thing that's happening."

Sonic waved a hand. "It'll die down, trust me. It's all just because I was gone for six months and magically seemed to come back. The average person doesn't know the full story."

The full story was this: Sonic didn't feel like a deity. Those six months were the worst experience of his life, and now that he was in the aftermath he still felt bad more often than not. He hid it well, but his time imprisoned and tortured had left its mark, the way he flinched at shadows and shied away from physical contact even worse than before, even as he craved it more than he ever had in his life.

He'd always felt unstoppable, a side effect of his speed, he imagined. And then he was stopped, and the illusion he had viewed himself through shattered.

He had never felt more small. He felt even further from a god than ever.

It didn't help that the world fell apart in his absence. Dealing with guilt on top of everything else wasn't helpful.

"Listen, Knux," Sonic said, letting his tone grow serious. "Don't bring this up with anyone else, okay? The last thing we need is for people to start acting more weird around me. This craziness needs to just blow over."

Knuckles looked at him intensely, studying his expression. Sonic didn't know what he saw, but he sighed. "Fine, I won't. But I still--"

"Great, thanks! I gotta go, I'll see you around!"

"Sonic, wait--!" Knuckles called out too late, the wind rushing past him as Sonic took off, speeding away before the echidna could get another word in.

He didn't get a chance to tell Sonic that his chaos energy signature had started to feel different.

I want a story where Spider stumbles upon a Thanator injured in the previous night's storm or some shit on his way back to Hell's Gate and then he slowly nurtures it back to health all while they form an epic bond and boom, next thing you know he's being protected by the apex predator of the forest. Fuck ikrans, LOOK AT THAT THING. (Plus the fact that a Thanator let Neytiri form tsaheylu with it during the final battle just makes it 1000% better when you think about it.)

-He finds the palulukan on a walk to the village, when it's a pup, and he's little, I'm saying nine or ten. It's gotten sliced on it's farthest back leg by a piece of metal that fell from an old Sampson. It's been there for years, almost fully covered by vines and leaves, and never fallen, so it's odd. In it's attempt to get away, it got caught in part of the metal grate.

-He knows exactly what it is and how dangerous it is, but our boy spends all his time with Kiri Sully, girl instills a deep respect for all of Eywa's creatures but also a deep empathy beyond maybe that of a typical Na'vi. Spider is always so willing to learn and to listen, he's the one who's been most affected by Kiri's connection with the forest

-He knows if he tells any adult that they'll probably put it out of it's misery and say it's Eywa's will, and he did good to find it, but he thinks about what Kiri would say and what Kiri would do. He has his own medicine pouch now, freshly gifted by Kiri. It's not big enough but he also has some dried meat that Lo'ak gave him yesterday that he hadn't bothered to eat because he's not an expert at mask eating yet.

-So, he throws the meat to the palulukan. He doesn't know how long it's been there, but it seems hungry. The closer he get the harder it tries to get away, cutting it's leg even more. So he sits and waits, tossing it pieces of meat. Finally, he gets close enough to touch it's leg. It's very tense but he manages to spread some herbs on it's cut before it turns to swipe at him. Another several chunks of meat later, he is close enough again. He takes the risk and grabs its leg to force it up and out. Immediate regret, he's for sure gonna die, but instead it's just gone. He sort of sits there for a few minutes having a minor heart attack, then finishes his walk to the village to find Kiri, Lo'ak and Neteyam worried out of their minds because he's late and jsut reports the wreckage fall to Jake.

-He tells Kiri about it later, but they keep it secret, not sure the others will understand.

-On his walks alone he starts to feel like there are eyes on him. Just watching, all creepy. He even starts to feel them when he's with his friends. Lo'ak thinks he's crazy, but Kiri says it's just Eywa looking out for him.

-He gets desperate enough to ask Mo'at. She nods all sagely and says it's probably nothing but they should add it to his songcord which are two really opposite statements and he's really confused.

-The next day his friends are busy and he decides to fuck off in the forest himself only to accidentally startle some nantang. The same palulukan, scars on its ankle and leg, busts out of nowhere and jumps in front of him, scaring them off. Then it turns and looks at him, all self satisfied like it's repaid the favor. But when he thanks it and turns to go he still feels it watching. Eventually, he and Kiri take chunks of meat into the woods and just give it gifts and build up trust.

Honestly yeah, if they actually grew to get along then makes a whole lotta sense why Wukong would be upset. There's a thousand layers of tragic, because Imma be honest. I really struggle to see Macaque as being possessive or jealous. He'd going to need a serious trigger to do that, and it would have to be either serious resentment over Wukong not being there (FFM burning) or "Because normally you just RUSH to my rescue." being internalized and acted upon when "Monkey! No violence!" happens. The 1st fight def haunts him as it haunts Wukong bc we see him say "I need to stop dragging you into my mess" post s3. "But no! Wukong doesn't listen to anyone, doing whatever he wants and dragging everybody into his mess." Their fight drives me insane bc for the life of me, I can't imagine what motivates Wukong to throw shade like "always had a sidekick kind of vibe." and "on brand for you to have a worse version of everyone else's powers" and "that's a relief. I thought it was somebody important." or why Macaque wanted to kill him so bad "its going to be soo satisfying killing you with your own powers" why always the power reference? because all this over the MONK??? Nah. What caused them to spit hypothetical vitriol in mystery fight 2 so bad their relationship fractured into this. "It's great to see ya, bud!" being mocked again that time implies their 2nd fight had a heavy connection in bringing up the 1st as well if Mac is literally resurrected bothered over it instead of fight number two. "Looks like our own friend, the Lady Bone Demon" (s3 ep 1??) is ALSO weird af phrasing, because it sounds like Macaque was there during the LBD fight when we know he wasn't..........right? with the close timeline of events and her involvement in Mac's revival + the Diyu also freeing Azure + both of them initially hating Wukong, makes you wonder if its orchestrated to get back at him, like literally every villain thus far. Maybe for erasing his name from the book of life and death?

Especially with the trailer out.

I have a feeling the 10 kings are covering up their crime of releasing Azure and blaming it at Wukong.

Which despite it not at all being his fault, there’s too much evidence against him that unfortunately frames him as the one who released Azure or something…especially since all 10 kings are in a position of power.

Maybe this Season is more on trying to prove Wukong is innocent or something?
