just got the inbox alert about it but here is the new interview with oliver, gugu, show creator veronica west and hello sunshine producer lauren neustadter. it was posted 3 weeks ago and oliver still has his the world will tremble hair

in this interview veronica west explicitly confirms that oliver will be back in season 2 of surface and that the series will continue to explore the relationship and chemistry between james and sophie/tess.

oliver recently started following phil dunster, who has been announced as part of the s2 cast.

He didn't even notice the change of appearance until this point, but the realization that she's neglected something that important TO HER has him instantly shocked and upset on her behalf.

idk it's just a neat little moment of showing how much he cares for his friends, despite the many themes of dislike and alienation from other people that appears in his story.

just curious how are you sure oliver is going to be in the second season of surface?

good question, it's true nothing has been officially announced yet but i'm going by the fact that his character's arc was part of the first season's finale cliffhanger as well as this imo telling exchange in gugu mbatha-raw's instagram announcement of the renewal, in which she tagged both oliver and millie brady.

i could be wrong though of course and this could all be misdirection, but i don't think so.

Obsessed with the fact that if you play as a Dwarven Inquisitor Varric attempts to give up his seat on the merchants guild and gift (foist) his inheritance onto you. He wants out of Dwarven politics so bad. This is after you keep finding pieces of his writing strewn about heavily critiquing the merchants guild and its relationship to Orzammar and Lyrium smuggling.

Obsessed at the merchants guild's response basically being a long suffering, "No, Varric". I like to think this isn't the first time Varric has tried to bequeath his seat.

No but Ed and Stede are dealing with a fundamental tension in their relationship that’s been there since the beginning, which is that for Stede piracy is a fantasy space of freedom and self-actualization and for Ed it’s a world he’s desperately trying to escape because he doesn’t like who he has to be in order to survive there, and that contradiction finally reached a breaking point.

has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...

when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)

(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)

also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question
