I wanted to argue, but I knew Tiffany was absolutely correct. There wasn't anything wrong with the two of them swapping bodies outside of society telling us that men and women could only swap with other men and other women. Which... given the way that their open relationship also defied societal expectations, I suppose it wasn't too much of a surprise that the two of them thought so little about swapping like this. "You're right, and I'm sorry. I... I'm trying, really. You've heard how conservative my childhood was. It's a lot to unlearn."

"Well, maybe it's time to start unlearning," she said, beckoning me closer. "You want to know the real reason I'm still here? It's because of you, stud. I'm here to see you." Did Tiffany just call me a stud? She had to be mocking me, but I could feel myself blushing all the same.

Lilo has carefully decided-upon interests. Don’t you guys think it’s interesting that in the original movie they could have said, “hey, the little girl is going to have her life invaded by outer space aliens; why don’t we make her an outer space enthusiast?” but they didn’t?

Have you ever wondered why that is? Because again, somebody had to choose what would decorate her room. People had to decide what her interests would be. Ever wondered why they picked what they did?

Partly it’s because Chris Sanders likes fun creepiness and dark silly stuff.

But also, Lilo is a character who’s wrapped up in wanting to have someone who stays.

So she takes pictures of tourists, as if they’re “fascinating creatures” even though they’re people like her. Why do you think that is? It’s because she knows they’re leaving. She’s 7 and she knows that there are people who come to her town specifically to leave. So she treats them like exotic anomalies. Because she doesn’t want the “norm” to be “people leave.”

Also, she’s supposed to add onto her desire for people to stay a certain characteristic called “loneliness.” She doesn’t have friends. Why doesn’t she have friends? Because she’s bizarre. She’s a little weird. She likes making voodoo experiments and she makes up stories about fish controlling the weather and she makes up wacky names.

So the two ingredients you have that make up this little girl are:

Is lonely and wants people to stay in her little world.

Is a little weird and has weird interests.

Her room’s not decorated with “OUT THERE, AWAY FROM EVERYTHING SHE KNOWS” stuff because Lilo doesn’t have an interest in the “world outside of Hawaii,” as a place. Lilo loves her own little world. Her favorite singer isn’t a flashy new one, it’s Elvis, ol’ reliable. Her room is decorated with fish. And fishing nets. And seashells.

She’s not a Hawaiian bored with Hawaii but excited about the literal-furthest-place-you-could-go-from-Hawaii, OUTER SPACE. She’s NOT.

She loves her own little world, and she wants everyone she loves to stay in it, because her parents just died. Just left, out of her life, forever. When we meet her, she’s not a character with dreams who needs someone to believe in her or validate her. That’s other characters. It’s not LILO. Lilo is a character who needs Stitch because she’s lonely and she’s lost people and she’s not easy to love, herself. She’s not a character who needs Stitch the way Ariel needs Eric. Jeez.

She’s a desperate-to-STAY-faithful-and-have-others-STAY-with-her character. Not an “Out There” character.

And that stuffed animal? Lilo does not do pink poodles.

My Friend Borrowed my Dad

Dammit my dad is looking way too hot again! I should never have agreed to let Paulos borrow my dad’s body!

A few weeks ago, my best friend, Paulos, called me over to his house, excited to show me something he’d bought from the internet. Turns out it was some sort of “swapper” device that let him, well, swap traits around on people without them noticing. His model was apparently “premium” and allowed him to determine exactly who would know which swaps had occurred and how the world perceived those changes.. Everyone else would be none the wiser. Actually, it was only after we’d been talking for a while that he revealed he’d swapped my clothing with his baby brother when I got there! I swore that my whole life I’d worn nothing but onesies and diapers even if I was perfectly potty trained and it was normal for his baby brother to be wearing a graphic tee and jeans! After he switched us back I realized how stupid I’d probably looked and sounded arguing in only a diaper and a pacifier around my neck!

It’d been a pretty wild ride since then, we’ve been in the forms and lives of professors, threatening our friends with bad grades; cheered for the football team from our own bodies as varsity girl’s cheerleaders; and even spent a very weird day as dogs everyone else regarded as people (they could even understand our barks!). Anyway, one day Paulos really wanted to borrow my dad’s body. I had no idea why he’d want to be in the body of a middle aged man, but he had some kind of explanation about wanting to use his “perceived age” but also “wanted the complete look” or something. I should have probably just said no, but you see the problem was I had a huge crush on Paulos so I couldn’t really say no to him. 

Well now I find out his family and he are on vacation in SF and I definitely saw my dad’s body walking in a “Leather Daddy Catwalk” on Paulos's story. As disturbing as that was, it’s not as bad as having to live with my crush’s body right next to me for the next two weeks! Even my dad’s manspreading while watching TV is unbearable now!

Didascalie emozionali all'Ecomuseo di Cursi

Swapmuseum durante il mese di Ottobre ha permesso a 17 partecipanti dell’Istituto Agrario Egidio Lanoce di Maglie, tra i 17 e i 19 anni, di conoscere l’Ecomuseo della Pietra Leccese di Cursi e di co-creare i contenuti per una speciale audioguida sottoforma di didascalie emozionali digitali.

Nei primi incontri gli studenti hanno visitato la sede di Ecomuseo presso Palazzo De Donno e hanno avuto modo di conoscere le collezioni di pietra lì dentro custodite insieme alla tutor Elena Carluccio.

Inoltre hanno fatto un giro nel paese con l’obiettivo di intervistare la comunità, come è successo con la testimonianza di Giuseppe Panarese, un cavamonte di pietra leccese di 90 anni. 

Infine si sono messi all'opera: hanno creato i testi delle didascalie emozionali delle opere preferite della collezione permanente dell'ecomuseo e le hanno infine registrate con la loro voce.

Destiny Stealers, Destiny Swappers and the reasons why I don't believe this works in the long term

As this concept is gaining attention from some groups of people on tiktok mainly

Hi everyone, as I was scrolling on tiktok I noticed that people started to mention about destiny stealing/destiny swapping that I found interesting that it gained attention from lots of people. It is like everybody needed for this to be coined as a term to mention. Because it happens, right? In the easiest and most common way, we tell a dream of ours to a friend and see that friend achieving it instead of us.

Although I think this is very common and that is one of the reasons why I do not EVER share my goals or inspirations with other people -who don't matter how close we are- , I also do believe that destiny swapping or destiny stealing comes with HUGE KARMA. Let me explain:

There are things that make each person with a character unique. People that are DESTINED to achieve big, receive big go through painful transformations most of the time. Those people who have big dreams to achieve; those are completely PERSONAL to them as a result of their own storyline, destiny of their lives. Therefore they dream what their soul craves. Copying their identity, or mimicking them, or trying to steal their dreams by achieving what they want to achieve first, WILL NOT BRING THEM GOOD IN THE LONG TERM.

Simply because, it is not what they think their soul wants AT ALL. In fact, I think people who copy or try to swap destinies unfortunately do not have a character, persona on their own. All of the desires or dreams a person has told you is unique to their own life experiences, and believe me, those dreams are a result of hardwork and suffering, and when they want to steal it, they simply miscalculate...

Being that person WITHOUT THE HARDWORK OR GOING THROUGH THEIR PAIN is what they are missing. So in turn, the universe, when they think they achieved/stealed the other person's destiny, will show them WHAT IT ACTUALLY MEANS TO BE THAT PERSON. Asking them "are you able to handle it?"

Those people who determined what they want to achieve most of the time spend a lot of time analysing, doing the inner work, understanding where they belong and what they want to do with what they HAVE in their hands in this lifetime. Trying to steal their spot WITHOUT GOING THROUGH what they had been through, I believe will only bring the consequences to the stealer.

Therefore, if you think someone wants to be you, or steal your spot and eliminate you completely, cut ties immediately and do not engage your energy field with them. If you think it already happened, just keep going on and wait, I guarantee you that the person who thought they swapped destinies will shrink in the long run, because that person does not know the ways you took to get where you are right now. So instead, wait, observe and think to yourself, "show me how it is to be like me."

Hope this makes sense to you. I wanted to write these down because I have lived this situations over and over in my life and wanted to give those with concern a little bit of relief that they are safe and the most important value in this life to achieve your dreams is through a great character that cannot be taken by anyone else, because it is completely yours for ever.

“Maybe he’s busy, Jess” Mark offered, trying not to grin too much.

Jessie was right, Mark was having the time of his life. It was fun watching straight-as-an-arrow Brady acting boy crazy. Plus, seeing his body in a “skimpy” outfit wasn’t bad either.

Sulle orme di Sofia - call speciale al Museo Civico E. Barba di Gallipoli

Swapmuseum, nel mese di ottobre 2023, ha coinvolto 30 studenti del quarto anno del Liceo Quinto Ennio di Gallipoli nella call speciale “Sulle orme di Sofia” tra il Museo Civico “E. Barba” e il centro storico della città sulla creazione di un percorso di immagini poetiche ispirato alla vita e alle poesie della poetessa Sofia Stevens. 

Dopo una visita guidata e un’approfondita ricerca sulla storia e la poetica dell’autrice anglo-gallipolina, gli swappers hanno avuto il compito di co-creare i contenuti per una speciale passeggiata poetica itinerante....

...e hanno avuto modo di recitare e interpretare le sue poesie all’interno del festival “Gallipoli in poesia”.

L’attività ha avuto inizio al Museo Civico e poi si è spostata nel centro storico, seguendo varie tappe create dagli swapper sui luoghi significativi e simbolici legati alla vita e alle opere della poetessa. Il percorso è fruibile digitalmente dal profilo instagram del Museo.
