Tesla strike update:

Tesla has declared that they have no intention to come back to the table

The strike is ongoing and from the 15th november all work and service by electricians on Teslas charging stations is struck.

From the 17th november The Building Maintenance workers union has struck all work on several Tesla fascilities.

The president of the swedish trade union confederation, Susanna Gideonsson, says that if Tesla refuses to sign a collective agreement they'll be kicked out of the country

Swedish Unions vs Tesla

I'm not sure you've heard, but right now Elon Musk and Tesla are in a union conflict in Sweden. A big one. The biggest one Sweden has seen in decades, in fact. It all started in 2018 when Tesla refused to sign a collective agreement with IF Metall, one of Sweden's biggest unions with over 300 000 members. Now, a lot of companies in Sweden don't have unionized members, but metal workers are traditionally very strong.

So what happened? Tesla refused collective agreements in USA, Germany and Sweden, and all hell broke loose as Swedish unions decided to take action:

17 October: IF Metall warns about a strike. Tesla refuses to negotiate.

27 October: Blockades are created at Sweden's seven Tesla workshops. Tesla calls in strikebreakers, which is NOT well received.

3 November: The blockades are expanded to all metalwork on Tesla cars in Sweden, at 17 workplaces all in all.

17 November: At this point, several other unions joins. Fastighets makes sure no Tesla facilities are being cleaned, no Tesla cars are being loaded or unloaded at the docks, no electric work is being done on Tesla cars, loading stations or facilities.

20-21 November: Most damning of all: SEKO and ST has created a blockade against delivering mail and packages to Tesla. Why is this a problem? Because without registration plates you can't sell a working car in Sweden, period.

No, Elon. You're insane.

23 November: Blockade against paint jobs for Tesla.

28 November: Blockade against construction work for Tesla. Also, on this day Tesla sues the Swedish state and the postal company Postnord for refusing to deliver their registration plates. Unfortunately for them, the Swedish court ruled that Postnord has no duty to deliver anything before the trial. Since the right to strike is protected by the Swedish constitutional laws, it overrules the postal delivery law, according to Postnord. And Tesla cannot get those signs themselves.

So what happens now?

We'll see, but things are not looking good for Elon. Good luck with your useless cars, you worthless capitalist piece of shit.

Meanwhile in Sweden - Tesla Strike Edition

So we all know about the strike action against Tesla in Sweden? Yes? Yes, good.

It was in the news in Sweden today that apparently, someone on Tesla tried contacting the Minister for Employment about the strike-situation, very literally asking for "an audience". Yes, that wording. He asked for an audience to discuss the situation.

Of course, that request was also rejected. Because the government is not supposed to get involved in these things - it's between the unions and the companies, the government doesn't really have a say.

IF Metall, the company that Tesla is beefing with, have made a statement on the matter saying that it's clear that the people at Tesla have no fucking idea about how things work in Sweden.

But let it just sink in for a moment that someone at Tesla thought this was a good idea. We don't know if they had directions from higher up (perhaps even from the Rat himself?) or if they just acted alone. But they acted. And they thought they could get the government involved. They thought they could get the government to intervene on Tesla's behalf.

Let it sink in just how willing they are to take underhanded actions and also just how UNwilling they are to accept that they're not going to get their way.

Oh and also apparently Norway is getting involved now too and are saying that they'll stop the import of Tesla cars into the country if Tesla does not agree to IF Metall's conditions at the latest on the 20th of December.

Danish union joins Swedish workers’ strike against Tesla

Danish transport union 3F Transport joined the dispute between Swedish union IF Metall and Elon Musk’s Tesla over the latter’s refusal to sign a collective agreement, Euractiv reports.

IF Metall has received support from Danish union 3F Transport, which has decided to enter into a sympathy dispute with its Swedish colleagues, after six weeks of intense struggle and industrial action over a collective agreement at Tesla workshops in Sweden.

Now harbour workers and drivers will not be able to receive and transport Tesla cars to Sweden. Jan Villadsen, chairman of 3F Transport, noted in a press release:

With the sympathy strike, we are now putting further pressure on Tesla. Naturally, we hope that they will come to the negotiating table as soon as possible and sign a collective agreement.

Some Swedish labour unions have recently come forward to Tesla to demand collective bargaining agreements for their workshops. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is not in favour of this idea.

The union IF Metall has tried to negotiate with Tesla for a while, but now a strike is drawing very near, according to union representative Veli-Pekka Säikkälä.

Swedish Radio News has approached Tesla for comment but received no reply

Living in Sweden rn is kind of hilarious. Do not go on twitter if you like unions though, they think politicians should stop people from striking in the only situation you're legally allowed to strike in Sweden (workers are only allowed to strike if they don't have a collective agreement so Tesla brought this on themselves, as far as I understand it wasn't even that they provided an agreement the workers didn't accept, they just refused to make one at all)

And here's Finland joining the strike against Tesla!

The finnish trade union AKT has joined the strike actions. Starting dec 20th, they will block the transport of Tesla cars to Sweden.

This means that's there is no way for Tesla to get their new cars from the factory to the swedish market.
