Oh man can we get a short of Isolde walking in on Cailen and Jeyra playing with a laughing baby MC ? I want ALL THE ANGST 😭
Ps. I’ve sent a couple asks that weren’t answered which I am in no way complaint about because I’m assuming the answer would be in spoiler territory but if the ask itself doesn’t contain any spoilers for the IF would it be ok if you just answered with “I can’t answer this cause it’s spoilers” or something along those lines ? Just so me and any others have the knowledge of what’s ok to ask and what’s currently off limits.
Hey howdy hey! Its not a slight against you or the other anons. I've just had a lot of things going on. But I hope this apology will suffice.
The sunlight poured through the tall windows of the King’s chambers, its warmth doing little to dispel the chill in the air. Isolde pushed open the heavy oak door, baby Taryn nestled in her arms, their soft babbling a stark contrast to the storm brewing in her chest. She had come looking for Caelin, intending to discuss their eldest, Lucian. Instead, she found something that made her steps falter.
Caelin sat on the edge of a low bench, his golden hair illuminated by the sunlight. Beside him, Jeyra knelt on the plush carpet, holding the tiny hands of a laughing baby. Caelin’s gloves lay discarded on the bench beside him, his bare hands supporting the baby’s arms as they tottered unsteadily toward him.
The sight stopped Isolde in her tracks.
Caelin—always so cold, so distant, even with her and their children—had removed his gloves. His hands, the hands he only showed under obligation, rested lightly on the child’s tiny shoulders. His expression was soft, an unguarded smile gracing his lips as he murmured encouragement. Jeyra chuckled, her usual steely demeanor softened into something almost maternal as she steadied the baby.
The air grew heavy.
“Caelin.” Isolde’s voice cut through the laughter, cold and sharp.
The warmth drained from the room. Caelin’s smile vanished instantly, his body stiffening. Jeyra’s hands instinctively moved to pull the baby closer, her expression hardening as she rose to her feet.
“What,” Isolde began, her voice trembling, “is the meaning of this?”
“Isolde—” Caelin started, his voice calm, but she didn’t let him finish.
“Don’t you dare,” she hissed, taking a step forward. “Don’t you dare try to explain this away.”
Her eyes flicked to Jeyra, who now cradled the baby against her hip. The sight burned like acid.
“This… this is why you refuse to hold Lucian?” she spat, her voice rising. “You couldn’t even touch your own son without gloves, but this—” she pointed at the baby in Jeyra’s arms, her hand trembling—“this child is different?”
Caelin stood slowly, his expression carefully blank. “It’s not what you think.”
“It’s exactly what I think, I'm not stupid!” Isolde snapped, her voice cracking. Taryn whimpered in her arms, their small hands gripping her gown, but she barely noticed. “You won’t touch me. You won’t touch our children. But you’ll do this?” She gestured wildly at Jeyra and the baby, her fury barely contained.
“Is this child yours?” she demanded, her eyes blazing. “Tell me, Caelin. Is this bastard yours?”
For a moment, there was silence. Caelin’s gaze flicked to Jeyra who gave a small shake of her head, then to the baby, then back to Isolde.
“Does it matter?” he said quietly, his voice devoid of emotion.
Isolde’s breath hitched. “Does it—” She choked on her words, her free hand curling into a fist. “How dare you. How dare you!”
She crossed the room in a blur of motion, Taryn balanced carefully in one arm as she lashed out with the other. Her hand struck Caelin’s cheek with a sharp crack that echoed in the room.
Caelin didn’t flinch. He didn’t raise a hand to stop her, nor did he retaliate. He simply stood there, the faint redness blooming on his cheek the only evidence of the blow.
“You disgust me,” Isolde spat, tears streaming down her face. “You have a son—a son who idolizes you, who would give anything for a scrap of your attention—and you give this instead? This is what you’ve chosen? To play happy family with her?”
Jeyra shifted, her body tense but still, her arms tightening around the baby she held. The child whimpered, their tiny hands clutching at Jeyra’s tunic.
“Enough, Isolde,” Caelin said softly, his voice steady but tinged with weariness.
“Enough?” Isolde’s voice rose again, incredulous. “You’ve denied me everything. You’ve denied Lucian and Taryn everything. And now I’m supposed to accept this? Without so much as an explanation?”
She shook her head, her voice dropping to a bitter whisper. “You’ll never admit it, will you? You’ll never tell me the truth. Because you can’t even give me that, the dignity of knowing I married a cruel man.”
Taryn began to cry, the tension and raised voices overwhelming the babe. Isolde tightened her grip on them and stepped back, her eyes burning into Caelin’s.
“I hope you rot in the happiness you’ve created,” she hissed before turning on her heel and storming out, her sobbing child held tightly against her chest.
The door slammed shut behind her, leaving silence in its wake.
Jeyra glanced at Caelin, her expression unreadable. “You should have told her.”
“She wouldn’t have believed me,” Caelin said quietly, sinking back onto the bench. He picked up his gloves and slipped them on, his hands trembling slightly.
The baby in Jeyra’s arms sniffled, their cries fading into soft whimpers as she rocked them gently. “And Lucian? You need to build the bridge before he falls into the chasm his mother is dragging him into. Both of your heirs need a father.” she asked after a moment.
Caelin’s shoulders tensed. “I don’t know how to fix it,” he admitted, his voice barely audible.
Jeyra didn’t respond. She turned and left the room, the baby still cradled against her, leaving Caelin alone with the heavy silence and the ghost of Isolde’s fury lingering in the air.

i started replaying totk recently, i say replaying bc i did buy and play it when it was first released but dropped it after a couple days bc i was busy w stuff. and so i'm doing a lot of things now for the first time and obv i can't help comparing it to botw and it's genuinely got me so upset how link has been forgotten by so many people, all the people he helped in botw all the quests he did are just meaningless, all my registered horses were carried over but they couldn't keep the character interactions? all the champions are mentioned once with the exception of mipha there's no memories or divine beasts. the zora who had remembered link for 100 years had forgotten him since botw how is that possible. i had to make an ugly house near tarrey town to hang my weapons bc the hateno house was no longer mine 😭😭😭 somehow it made the game feel lonelier, even though botw was more empty there was much emotion in it.
it's not that i hated totk i liked exploring and finding new outfits, the dragons, rediscovering my favourite places etc but idk i was genuinely tearing up thinking about the champions being forgotten and all of link's previous sacrifices meaning nothing. sorry to send these random messages i don't follow anyone else who still blogs about zelda 😭😭
No, I know exactly what you mean! 😢 Honestly (lol can't remember if I've already said this before or not, so maybe I'm re-ranting here, but) my personal take is that totk shouldn't have been a sequel game, especially because Nintendo doesn't like to concern themselves with the continuity between games that a direct sequel like this just needs. With some tweaking/set up/rewriting, totk could have worked as a stand-alone story, and then they wouldn't have had to take away from what botw achieved in the name of making it more approachable to new players.
And yeah, I didn't hate it either! I liked the gameplay and the weapons system and the feeling of stakes whenever you entered a new town and saw how things had all gone to shit. Loved the wells. I just think it was too eager to pretend botw didn't exist while at the same time leaning on it so heavily that it would fall to pieces if you tried to extract the botw out of it :P

My designs of the Divine Warriors.
Past version + a ver. with evil Shad. Man Shad has changed lol.
I got lazy with Kul’zak’s design. Was sick of drawing armour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to think up of headcanon lore for them but I don’t have much.
Irene the Matron
Goddess of light, health/healing, life, fertility, abundance, peace and motherhood
Region: Ru’aun, Phoenix Drop
Symbols: The purple spring leaf and unicorns
Song inspiration: “Thought I would be satisfied seeing you content at the other side. But somehow I thought these crazy thoughts that I deserve to be loved, I deserve to know love, we deserve to live in love. I wish there's no end to our time together.”
- Bulbel, Mili
“I’ll take your hand and guide you through all the steps one takes to move on to a place, a world unseen to us all. But it’s okay, we’ll be together, my friend.”
- What Will You Leave Behind (End Titles), Maude Plante-Husaruk & Max LL
“Though I’m about to wreck, you still have your life ahead. All things that lose their way can find it again. There is no inertia in the ocean.”
- Adrift, Stray Gods
Shad the destroyer
God of the Nether, shadows, destruction, death and vengeance
Region: Nether, Falcon Claw
Symbols: Red spears and the wolf
Song inspiration: “There was a boy who shared your bones, your eager blood, your affinity for love. He had it all in his hands and he watched it all turn to sand.”
-Holy the Sea, Forgive Durden
”Could this be the day I have waited for when all my hard work doesn't go ignored? Maybe she was right, they will realize I can change the world, open up their eyes. They know I am more than some eager blood. Not some average bones, I believe in love. I just want to prove I deserve this gift. I will change this world, maybe this is it.”
-Life Is Looking Up, Forgive Durden
“The mind plays tricks, you are confused. The man you seek is long gone, dead and cold, a story told by those he trusted, those he loved, and those who then moved on.”
- I Know Those Eyes / This Man Is Dead, Brandi Burkhardt & Thomas Borchert
“Watch out for the wicked ones who call themselves beloved ones.”
-Holy the Sea, Forgive Durden
”You're a fool to think this princess could ever really love a couple of poor boys like us.”
-The End and the Beginning, Forgive Durden
He and Irene were created as opposites, representing the two sides of the moon. Where there is light, there is darkness. They both need each other to exist but they can never truly love each other.
They basically have Celestia and Luna’s story. Shad hated how Irene was so much more loved. He hated how she bloomed with her divine powers while he thought they were a curse. Because of them, the villagers saw him as a monster. He was tied to the darkness against his will. But just like a moth to the light, he could not look away from her.
“The moon will sing a song for me. I loved you like the sun.”
He thought that by joining the Divine Warriors he’d finally be seen as a hero, that he’d be recognized for his actions. But Irene was always number one. With that resentment already growing, the Divine Warriors betraying him was the thing that unleashed all his rage. He became the Shadow Lord and created the Shadow Knights to kill Irene.
Falconclaw was probably the only village that didn’t see him as an evil divinity (aka worshiping Shad the destroyer and not the Shadow Lord).
On that note, Shad probably hated to be called “the Destroyer”, reinforcing his image as “the bad one”. But he accepted the relic for Irene. “I will make this curse my blessing.”
Esmund the Protector
The only one who doesn’t have an FFXIV equivalent.
God of mountains, ice, guards, law, order and miners
Region: O’khasis
Symbols: The Violet sword and the bear
Song inspiration: “I’m sure that she would care to hear your argument as to how your presence is the reason she is sick. But I suppose it’s in vain, since her life is ending when I thrust this blade into her heart a-thumping.”
-The End and the Beginning, Forgive Durden
(Except Esmund would stab Shad, not Irene)
“Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”
-Fix You, Cody Fry
He fucking hates Shad. He copes by saying it’s because he’s evil but he just wants Irene to love him.
Enki the Keeper
God of time, nature, wisdom, knowledge, moon and arcana (magic)
Region: Gal’ruk
Symbols: The blue hourglass and the owl
Song inspiration: “The mountains seceded, the light and dark depleted. We lost Adakias, but regained our science. Our world was finally reunited. So this is my cue, of where to leave you. Now it's your story to retell and pass on because an idea is only relevant if it's being thought upon. So remember, never surrender ‘cause the unrelenting constancy of love and hope will rescue and restore you from any scope.”
-The End and the Beginning, Forgive Durden
“The rest is up to you to do with what you’ll do, to learn and love and laugh ‘til the cycle circles back. I’ll just separate, weigh anchor, disengage, divide and disappear, and see you in the mirror.”
- Genesis, Forgive Durden & Casey Crescenzo
“You really are the chosen one, the calculated sacrifice. Please listen to my last words before I fade away. This is my gift to you: Live for your love every day. Please don't let your tired heart stop beating.”
- The End and the Beginning, Forgive Durden
Enki was also jealous of Irene’s love for Shad but he didn’t feel good betraying Shad. His death was his repayment for what he did.
Kul’zak the Wanderer
God of the stars, wind, wanderers -wandering merchants, bards, rogues, travellers, drifters, …-, freedom and prosperity/money
Symbols: the green walking stick and the elk
Region: Tech’ens
I’m basing off his whole personality of the one and only thing he’s ever said in the whole series: “Imortality? Hm, that doesn’t seem so bad.” So I made him a greedy bastard. Where Irene is the healer and leader, Shad the lancer and dps, Esmund the tank and Enki the support mage, Kul’zak is the rogue. He’s not completely selfish but he’s definitely the most selfish of the Divine Warriors. He helped Enki and Esmund cuz he thought it’d be fun.

AGS are such nerds
Sephiroth, info-dumping about how cool a big mako spring is, somehow knowing about Nibelheim harvest festival lore, going on about how cool Professor Gast was, shutting himself up in the data room for hours, reading a library, info-dumping about the multiverse to Cloud, having math equations in his Supernova limit break, etc..
Genesis inventing a unique apple juice, fixating on Loveless, trying to reenact the entire play, being a theater kid, quoting his hyperfixation all day, having study group clubs dedicated to his theories, etc..
Angeal being a nature lover, reading botanical magazines, hyper-fixating on dreams and honor, giving corny pep talks to everyone, being super careful with his favorite fancy sword, etc
Lol you can tell they are all the children of scientists and academics
They're such nerds lmao. I don't doubt this was the basis of their friendship pre-crisis. Everyone thinks they're all cool and untouchable, when in reality:
Angeal: Did you guys know some plants can move rapidly in response to touches? Their leaves fold as a reflex, a defense mechanism that deters herbivores.
Sephiroth: Interesting. I've heard of a similar defense mechanism where plants produce chemicals to attract predators of the insects that feed on them.
Genesis: Hm. The plant must secrete digestive enzymes to break down the insect and absorb nutrients better.
*Meanwhile, Kunsel and Zack watch them from afar*
Zack: They're talking about money and getting bitches.
Kunsel: Absolutely.

ANNOUNCEMENT: @visionkept has been archived !
Tumblr media
It's finally the time ladies, gentlemen and nonbinary people ! This lovely blog that I have had since 2022 is finally reaching its end. VISIONKEPT is no more as Tomo will resurface back on a NEW BLOG !
Dear friends, thank you so much for so many amazing years in this silly corner of tumblr ( and especially grateful for everyone's patience ). I hope I get to see all of you in the next chapter. THE NEW AND IMPROVED TOMO blog will be COMING THIS MARCH ! Why not now ? Well, I'm taking a month and a week break from Tomo to focus on irl stuff like improving my portfolio and getting more active on the drawing side. Might open a graphic blog one day, who knows.
ANYWAYS, I have to thank you all once more for the support and for giving this character a chance. After almost four years I have finally found the direction I want to take my Tomo and for that, it's for the best to start fresh on a new blog as the new Tomo will have an entire different focus, a kind of REBOOT if you would like to call it that way. Worry not, it's the same idiot you love and care for BUT with a few tweaks in verses and lore.
UNDER THE READ MORE you'll find the NEW RULES AND CHANGES ON TOMO'S CHARACTER expected to be seen on the new blog ! Please ❤️ this post if you have read through them and you would still want to see me and my blond idiot around when I come back. If what you read wasn't of your liking, then it was a pleasure to cross paths with you even if it's for a fleeting moment ! ( Small note : i will slowly start following the people that liked this post on the last days of February ).
CHANGES IN TOMO'S CHARACTER:
Tomoya's name will be changed from "Aoki Tomoya" to Sunohara Tomoya ( yes, to match the spring aesthetic ).
Tomoya's character will be the current reincarnation of TAKAMINE THE MISTSPLITTER and their lore will be heavily tied to INAZUMA'S LORE.
Compared to this old blog where Tomo being alive is more of an AU, the new blog will have a MAIN VERSE where Tomo IS alive. Will be treated as if IN GAME they had been trapped in Ei's plane of Euthymia all this time right until Sumeru's interlude. They manage to break free after Wanderer's Irminsul incident. Currently they are an occasional Crux member that travels around all the nations. MORE TO BE EXPLAINED LATER.
NEW IMPORTANT TOMO LORE. Tomoya got CURSED by the ABYSS when they used to be Takamine and every reincarnation has it. MORE TO BE EXPLAINED LATER.
Tomo used to have a biological sister in the genshin verse. Well, not anymore lol. Making them an only child. At least they still got Chi - chan !
Unless I've approached you to be mains, ALL ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS WILL HAVE A RESET. Lil crushes or platonic bonds do not count on this reset.
NO EI "BOOBA SWORD" OR "KAZUHA WEED JOKE". Makes me uncomfortable and I think they are dumb. Next question.
IMPORTANT NEW RULES:
Will soft block, in some cases hard block, blogs that use AI for icons, edits, etc.
Won't follow blogs with voltro.n, south par.k, haz.bin hotel, and h.elluva boss characters. For multi muses, it will heavily depend on how present said characters are on the blogs.
WILL BE HEAVILY SELECTIVE WITH DOING ROMANTIC SHIPS. I require plotting, interactions and some ooc talk for it to happen. If the excitement isn't the same, it's likely for me to lose any interest and drop it.
EXCLUSIVITY REGARDING SHIPPING. Some do and some don't so I'll practice it IF my shipping partner does the same. If you have it specified in your rules then I'll follow through what's agreed.
WILL ASK FOR THE FOLLOWING GRAPHIC SHIP CONTENT TO BE TAGGED: k*zscr and y*eyato. Have become rather icky around those romantic ships thanks to a certain side of the fandom so I would rather not see any romantic art of them in my TL, so please tag it.
TMKZ WARNING. in this blog i never tagged it properly but on the new one, I'll tag ANY ROMANTIC tmkz art. also i won't be shipping MY tomo with ka.zuhas that got ships with wand.erers / sca.ras. i know i'm practically shooting my foot like this and i might never ship tm.kz here on tumblr but at this point idc anymore. i prefer being comfortable over having a bad taste in my mouth. thank you for your understanding.
TOMO WILL HAVE DIFFERENT VERSES BESIDES GENSHIN. hsr, pokemon, zzz, modern, royal au, even an au WITH TAKAMINE.

In The Glade
Summary: Emissary to the Spring Court is sent to investigate reports of strange happenings in the forest bordering the Autumn Court. There, he discovers a curious creature long lost to ancient Prythian lore: a Woodland Witch.
Pairing: LucienxReader
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Your favorite thing about the Spring Court was the weather. Warm sun, a balmy breeze, and the bright blue skies teaming with fluffy white clouds was an absolute dream. The icing on the cake was the stunning display of plants in every shade of green, peppered with flowers of buttery yellow and soft pink. The entirety of Spring was a beauty, but your home in the Glade was by far the most stunning. It was if it has been carved out in the forest by the Mother herself.
In the clearing of the trees sat a mossy pond of brackish waters teeming with crystals and creatures – for anyone who dared to look. The Glade was, thankfully, mostly untouched by Fae and Humans alike. Your small stone cottage was the only sign of human life in miles, and that’s the way you liked it. It helped preserve the natural resources, allowing the land to replenish and thrive. Being of the last of your kind, a Woodland Witch, you felt responsible to protect the land that you called home.
The Glade was seldom visited, located deep into the dense forest bordering on the Spring Court and the Mortal Lands, so you rarely encountered anyone else. On occasion, Spring Court Fae would make their way through, but you kept a watchful eye from a distance. Your Earth Magic was like an added sense – you could feel the land in your bones. You could feel their magic through the wind.
There was a comfortable warmth in the breeze on a day just a couple of weeks passed the Vernal Equinox when you found yourself at the edge of the Glade, high up in a tree. You were plucking sweet, ripe cherries from the branches. You sat on a branch, arm wrapped through the handle of a wicker basket, and as you reached to pick the berries.
You popped a cherry in your mouth and burst the delicate flesh of the fruit with your teeth. You hummed softly as you savored the flavor. After sucking the fruit away from the core, you spit the pit onto the ground. Instead of the soft rustle of the pit hitting the grass, you were startled by a grumble from below.
“What in the name of the Mother…” A male voice sounded. You felt your blood run cold. Your magic did not sense anyone around. And yet…
You peered down at the forest floor, and you took in the sight of a Fae male with blazing red hair sitting against the tree. His russet eyes met yours, as he looked up at you incredulously. You felt a swell of panic in your chest at the unknown person so close to your home. The rare times that you did get visitors, you usually sensed them quickly enough to hide. But this Fae male, you did not sense at all.
He was intriguing, of course. Long, red hair, tan skin, sharp features. He was enchanting. But just because he was handsome did not mean that he was harmless. In fact, his warrior-like wardrobe, featuring a host of weapons clear on his person, screamed the opposite.
The site of the jewel encrusted sword across his lap was enough to have you scrambling further up the tree. It wasn’t exactly the best defense, especially for a Fae, and a fit one at that, who could easily climb after you. It was hardly in your nature to use your magic for harming others, so you mostly trained in defense. You knew he could kill you in a second if it was his wish.
You abandoned the basket of berries, sending it crashing to the ground. Your expert fingers gripped the bark of the branches as you pulled yourself up the tree quickly.
The male below you stood, and you glanced down and took in his intimidating frame. He was lean, but muscular, and stood at over six-feet tall. He was a good foot taller than you, and you knew he could make it up the tree must faster.
You began blindly reaching for branches in the tree, climbing quicker.
“What in Gods name are you doing?” The male questioned, exasperated.
You deigned not to answer him as you reached again for a higher branch. The bark cut into your hand, and you yelped. The pain startled you, and you lost your balance in the tree. You tumbled down the tree, hitting several branches on your way down.
You managed to catch yourself, gripping on to a limb in the middle of the tree. Your feet dangled, and you kicked at the air trying to pull yourself back up on the tree.
“Be careful!” The handsome stranger called out, “What are you trying to do get yourself killed?”
You glared down at him, “I’m perfectly fine! I know how to climb a tree, thank you,” Your sarcasm was always your mother’s least favorite thing about you when you were a child. But you just couldn’t help it. The male did not seem to want to harm you, but that doesn’t mean you were about to just trust a stranger.
“Looks like you know how to fall out of a tree,” He retorted, “Let me help you before you splatter on the ground.”
You grimaced at his harsh depiction, but you still did not need the assistance of a Fae. This was your home, and you could manage just fine. Or you thought you could.
The branch that you were hang from creaked and you looked up to where the limb met the tree. You watched helpless as the wood splintered beneath under your weight.
“Oh, shi-” You were interrupted by a resounding crack from the branch as it finally released from the tree and sent you crashing to the ground.
You couldn’t stop the scream from erupting out of your chest as you squeezed your eyes shut and braced for impact. Instead of the cold, hard thud of the ground, your body made contact with a dense, warm object. You opened your eyes and found the dark eyes of the handsome stranger staring at your face. He had a curious look on his angular features – a mix between pain and amusement.
You had knocked him right to the ground, landed right on top of him, a mess of smashed berries and leaves surrounding you. Your cheeks flushed red, but you couldn’t help but study the face of the male. He was even more attractive up close. Your heart pounded against your ribcage so hard that you were sure he felt it.
The corner of his lips curled up in a smirk, “So it seems you do want to make my acquaintance after all.”

Hi I saw your tags on that needing to write the fanfic you want to read post and would you like to talk about toxic hylimpa because I would LOVE to hear about it 👀
HI ANON!!!! HI!!! I have a lot of scattered thoughts about this that i've been trying to formulate over the past few days and god i'm so excited to talk about toxic hylimpa
SO LIKE. the interesting thing about skyward sword is that it really does attempt to explain the origins of a lot of things (hyrule, the master sword, zelda's powers, etc). it's set at the beginning of the timeline and generally speaking it covers a lot of bases in terms of origin stories. one of the things it doesn't explain, though...is impa and the sheikah. which is really really funny because impa has been around since the literal first game in the series (irl not. timeline-wise) AND she's a key character in skyward sword but she doesn't get much of a backstory at all. it's also made doubly funny by the fact that most of the things that skyward sword attempts to explain the origins of already had established origins and it's retconning previous lore but zelda is just retcon city at this point so it hardly matters
BUT. I do think the tidbits we get are interesting, and there's a lot to be explored. who are the sheikah in skyward sword? why do they follow hylia? why was impa chosen to lead the reincarnated goddess to the sacred springs and what was her relationship with the old hylia like? my interpretation of their relationship aside, I think hylimpa at its core is a ship that would provide interesting answers to these questions, which is why I'm interested in it and why I like extrapolating on that part of skyward sword above all else.
I haven't even explained my own headcanons. anyway. they're so. weird religious devotion turned into romantic affection turned into confusion once hylia dies and is reincarnated as zelda. I love the idea that a lot of impas feel, like. special-- that they didn't have a lot of self-worth before, and now that they've been elevated to the highest position a sheikah can be in-- zelda's attendant!! zelda's personal servant that enacts her will! whatever she does she cannot lose that, because that is her everything. zelda is her everything. and hylimpa just makes this WORSE because that's an actual goddess!!!! the goddess that chose her, that loves her, that wants her... and hylia loooves taking advantage of that :) not always intentionally, but she's definitely aware of the impact she has on impa. I think ideally hylia kind of leads her on, maybe even throws in a romantic gesture in there once in a while to keep it up but never goes too far. because, well. she's not actually interested.
and then hylia does her little plan thing to save the world or whatever, and impa's supposed to be part of it, but she's. internally very conflicted over it. it guarantees her own specialness, but zelda (hylia) won't remember her. she won't be a goddess anymore, they won't really be the same person, will they? will she love impa the same way?
and then there's that green twink over there idk whatever. I like to add the first hero into the mix here because I love the idea that impa is like, stupid jealous of him. that's hylia's actual special boy and the one she actually has a romantic interest in (in my own writing hylink is also a one-sided thing. literally the most bullshit love triangle in existence. divorce love triangle. love loses.)
idk.

Legends of the Dragon
The myriad legends of the Chinese Dragon permeate ancient Chinese civilization and shaped their culture even today. Its benevolence signifies greatness, goodness and blessings. Instead of being feared and hated the Chinese dragons are highly respected creatures of good fortune that bring ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune. Chinese mythology says dragons control the rain, rivers, lakes, and seas. Many Chinese cities have pagodas where people used to burn incense to ask the dragons to favor their crops or change the weather. Dragons are referred to as the divine mythical creature.
As an animal possessed of magical abilities the Chinese dragon is able to shrink to the size of a silk worm; and then swell up to fill the entire space between heaven and earth. It can make itself visible or invisible, as it so chooses. It can take on human form or that of another animal to carry out some secret mission.
Everything connected with Eastern Dragons is blessed. The Year of the Dragon that takes place ever twelve years is lucky. Present-day Oriental astrologers claim that children born during Dragon Years enjoy health, wealth, and long life. (1964 and 1976 were Dragon Years.
Dragons are so wise that they have been royal advisors. A thirteenth-century Cambodian king spent his nights in a golden tower, where he consulted with the real ruler of the land a nine-headed dragon. Eastern Dragons are vain, even though they are wise. They are insulted when a ruler doesn’t follow their advice, or when people don’t honor their importance. Then, by thrashing about, dragons either stop making rain and cause water shortages, or they breathe black clouds that bring storms and floods.
Types of Dragons
There is more than one type of dragon depicted in Chinese art. In early times there were four main kinds of dragon with many other sub-divisions:
The heavenly or celestial dragon (tian-long) was the celestial guardian who protected the heavens, supporting the mansions of the gods and shielded them from decay. The Tian-long could fly and are depicted with or without wings they are always drawn with five toes while all other dragons are shown with four or three toes.
Spiritual Dragon
The spiritual dragons (shen-long) were the weather makers. These giants floated across the sky and due to their blue color that changed constantly were difficult to see clearly. Shen-long governed the wind, clouds and rain on which all agrarian life depended. Chinese people took great care to avoid offending them for if they grew angry or felt neglected, the result was bad weather, drought of flood.
Earth Dragon
Dragons that ruled the rivers, springs and lakes were called Earth dragons (di-long). They hide in the depths of deep watercourses in grand palaces. Many Chinese fairy tales spin yarns of men and women taken into these submarine castles to be granted special favors or gifts. Some of the di-long even mated with women to produce half-human dragon children.
Treasure Dragon
Believed to live in caves deep in the earth the (fu-can-long) or treasure dragon had charge of all the precious jewels and metals buried in the earth. Each of these dragons had a magical pearl that was reputed to multiply if it was touched. This pearl was as symbol of the most valuable treasure, wisdom.
Over the ages many other forms and hybrid animals related to the Chinese dragon have emerged as part of dragon lore. There are said to be nine distinct offshoots of the dragon that are carved as mystical symbols on doors, gates, swords, and other implements as means of protection and as harbingers of good fortune.
The Dragon Pearl
The luminous ball or pearl often depicted under the dragon’s chin or seen to be spinning in the air, pursued by one or two dragons is thought to be a symbolic representation of the ‘sacred pearl’ of wisdom or yang energy. Pearl symbolism, like lunar symbolism arises from Daoist roots and the connections, are extremely The dragon's pearlcomplex. This pearl can be said to stand most often for ‘truth’ and ‘life’ – perhaps even everlasting life which is made available to those who perceive the truth and attain enlightenment.
The dragon’s pearl can also be thought of as a symbol for universal Qi the progenitor of all energy and creation. The dragons seem to be depicted in attitudes of pursuit. He is seen to be reaching out eagerly to clutch at the elusive object, mouth open in anticipation and eyes bulging with anticipation of achieving the prize afforded by clutching the pearl.
In connection with the dragon the pearl has been called the image of thunder, of the moon, of the sun, of the egg emblem of the dual influences of nature, and the pearl of potentiality’. The pearl is most often depicted as a spiral or a globe. In some paintings it is sometimes red, dragons eggsometimes gold, sometimes the bluish white of a true pearl. The pearl is often accompanied by little jagged flashes that seem to spark out from it, like flames; and it almost always has an appendage in the form of a small undulating sprout, not unlike the first young shoot from a bean.
In Daoist concepts the moon, pearls, dragons and serpents are inextricably linked. Like the snake that is reborn when it sheds its skin, the moon is reborn each month, and both are symbols of immortality. Like the dragon, the moon is always associated with water; its undeniable power over the tides is believed to extend to all liquids on earth. The dragons that lived in the sea were said to be inordinately fond of pearls and collected them and watched over them in great submarine palaces. -The Dragons of China

Alrighty here is [redacted] per anon. You’ll have to forgive the anonymity of [redacted]
The chamber was quiet, save for the faint crackle of the fire in the hearth. The glow of the embers cast long shadows across the stone walls, flickering faintly as the wind whispered through the tall windows. Moonlight poured in, silver and cool, pooling on the floor and catching on the glass held loosely in one hand.
The figure sat by the window, still and silent, staring out into the night as though it might offer answers. The drink in their hand barely moved, though the liquid caught the light, refracting faint patterns onto the table beside them.
They had long grown accustomed to nights like this—nights when the world felt too quiet, too empty. When the past refused to stay buried and clawed its way to the surface.
The name that lingered in their mind came unbidden, as it always did.
Jeyra.
The memory of her was a curse and a blessing. A cruel torment, and yet one of the few things that still felt real in a life where so much had been taken. Jeyra with her easy warm laughter, rich and unguarded, the kind of sound that could shatter even the coldest of silences. Jeyra with her touch, strong yet impossibly gentle, as though she feared breaking what she held.
But those were memories of another time, another life. A time when the world felt smaller, simpler, and love seemed like something they could hold onto. Foolish thoughts. Dangerous ones.
The figure took a slow sip from the glass, the sharp burn doing nothing to dull the ache in their chest.
They had been so naive. They should have known better than to believe it could last. They should have known the cost of it all.
But even now, they couldn’t forget. The way Jeyra had looked at them, her devotion fierce and unwavering, her fire a match for their own. And then there was the child.
The glass trembled slightly in their hand.
The child they should have held.
Their throat tightened as their gaze dropped to the table. A small wooden figure rested there—a bird, its wings outstretched. The carving was crude, the edges uneven, but it was familiar in a way that made their chest ache.
Jeyra had made it. Her hands, strong and calloused, had crafted something so delicate. “A symbol,” she’d said, smiling as she handed it over. “Of freedom. For both of us.”
Freedom. They closed their hand around the figure, the wood pressing against their palm. There had been no freedom—not for Jeyra, not for the child, and not for them.
The child.
They turned back to the window, their fingers tightening around the bird as they stared into the darkness. What would the child have been like? They had imagined it so many times, in stolen moments when grief didn’t weigh so heavily. Would they have been strong like Jeyra? Bright and unyielding, with her easy laugh and fierce loyalty? Or would they have carried their own fire, something entirely new and beautiful?
Their breath hitched. The answer would never come. The child was gone. Jeyra was gone.
The moonlight seemed colder now, harsher as it painted the room in stark contrast.
“I would have protected you,” they whispered to no one. “I should have protected you.”
The fire dimmed further, its light fading into shadows as the night deepened. But the figure didn’t move, didn’t look away from the window.
The drink sat forgotten on the table, the bird still clutched in their hand as they sat alone, the weight of what could have been pressing down on them like an unbearable silence.

A fun post to get away from the ridiculous angry people.
Do you have any theories or thoughts on Lucien’s power levels or his role to play in the books to come?
Do you think he has the potential to be as powerful or more powerful than Rhys? Like Rhys claims mate bonds might just be a way to broth strong offspring. And we know that and Tamlin both had mate bond parent and both of them are extremely strong and powerful. If Helion and LoA are mates than Lucien is the product of another mate bond pair having offspring. And one parent is from the seasonal court and the other is from a solar court and LoA is stated to be from a powerful line of fire users (and I believe she is from the true line of Autumn high lords and that Beron is from a branch line similar to Rhys saying at some point the high lords line branched off from Keir’s family onto Rhys’ family).
Do you think his fire and possible healing (although I think Elain will have strong healing magic) will play a role in the defeat against any remaining Daglen (Koschei) in the books?
Do you think Narben will become Lucien’s sword? Narben means scar/scars in German.
I feel this one is random but were you at all frustrated that Rhys has a red headed girl in his dungeon that can glow and yet not once did he think maybe I should connect her to the other read head that can glow in my court, lol?
Do you think that the day court powers are also connected to the starborn fae line? In HoFaS after Bryce receives her full star power her light was described as a sun multiple times.
Sorry for all these random Lucien and acotar lore asks just wanted to get your thoughts or discuss theory points. 😊😊😊
Hi!!!!
I don't think anyone will ever be as powerful as Rhys since Sarah made it such a point to mention how he's the most powerful HL in Prythian history (though.....you never know, Amren did make that comment that if Rhys were not going to claim what was his birthright the Cauldron's benevolence would be extended to another) but I do think Lucien will have more influence than Rhys.
I don't think Lucien would need to be "the most powerful HL in history" to make what could arguably be the biggest impact in current history. That's not to discredit what Rhys and Feyre did before / during the war, they were willing to sacrifice their lives to save everyone and while that's huge, their grand gestures weren't really enough to usher in an era of peace. As things stand right now there's still a lot of turmoil across their lands. Spring is still in a state of unrest, Beron is scheming to take over more land, the fae on the continent are looking to expand their territories and the humans are trying to figure things out now that the wall is down. While Feysands actions helped them obtain tentative peace, it doesn't seem like they've been able to secure it as a long term thing and I think that's where Lucien (and Elain) come in.
Power is a necessary thing to be taken seriously, knowing that someone with power cannot easily be pushed around, but I don't think Lucien has any desire to really wield that power against others, even those he does not care for, in an effort to have them follow him / do his bidding / accomplish his goals (in the way Rhys used his power to intimidate those around him). With Lucien, I think his biggest strengths are the desire he has to do right by everyone (he wasn't only concerned for Feyre in ACOMAF but all those in Spring, has tried to keep Tamlin from falling apart, helps the NC regardless of his affiliation to Autumn / Spring, helps the humans, etc), his likeable nature (even when Feyre was mad at him she said it was difficult to hate him), and his intelligence. To me, Lucien's greatest strength will come from securing peace for everyone and acting as the one who oversees that peace. With that said, I absolutely think he and Elain will be strong enough to defeat Koschei (I'm thinking Elain will stop him / break Vassa's curse in a way that is similar to Yrene stopping the Valg) and Beron.
I have actually been thinking Gwyn will find Narben considering it's rumored to have been lost in the sea when it would not "bend" to Amarantha. A girl who has water heritage and can "beckon" things to her with her song being the one to find and wield Narben seems to write itself.
I have considered either Mor or Lucien ending up with Gwydion. Mor because she could be a female heir to Theia (since her family was the original ruling family before Rhys's and they are cousins) or Lucien if he were written into the High King plot. Fionn had Gwydion when he reigned over the peace of their lands (not necessarily war) and that would be fitting for Lucien, in my opinion. Not to mention (and to your point about Helion / Bryce), it is possible that he's Starborn through Helion (or maybe even the LoA since there were Starborn Autumn fae - maybe Lucien is a Starborn ancestor twice over). Bryce could use the mask because of being Starborn and it seems like one of Helion's ancestors wore the mask, to the point that it may have left an imprint on his blood (even Nesta seemed to be struggling with the pull of the mask in HOFAS after having worn it a few times despite being made so I don't think being Starborn gives you absolute immunity to wield it without consequence after a period of time). Not to mention Bryce's light is often described similarly to Helions.
"Red head that glows and connect her to another red head that glows" made me laugh. But no, I'm not surprised because I don't think Rhys would subject the priestesses to a complete stranger and unknown threat. Also, while I do think he really likes and respects Gwyn right now, I don't think she is someone Rhys would think to talk to about court business. I also don't think he's aware that she glows.
Thank you for the ask!!! ❤️❤️❤️

prickly pear and dust storm wearing an airman’s saddle with a revolver, and a pegasus saddle with a spring sheath jousting sword. dust storm is going to be one of the crew on the main character ship in my au. i just decided. this is because i love her. here’s the first post i made about her:
but here’s some more lore about her: she is a bounty hunter. she doesn’t get hired to kill people but not for lack of will, it’s just because it’s the pony world and they just don’t kill people that often in pony land. her being on antipsychotics means she does not qualify for the voluntary draft, but she lied on the form

Skyward Sword: A Study
Tumblr media
Imagine, just for a second, that you wake up in Skyloft. A village set on a massive isle suspended in the air, where everyone knows everyone and its an incredibly peaceful life.
Tumblr media
My younger self severely underestimated this game.
I got it for my birthday in 2011. I went to Best Buy with my dad, and up until that point I had only ever played A Link to the Past. All I saw was the Zelda title to our newest console, a Wii that we'd gotten for Christmas last year. As soon as I got home I popped in Skyward Sword, and I was hooked.
Of course, the title of my favorite game was stolen by Twilight Princess (and it'll probably always be like that, although Tears of the Kingdom is a really hard pass solely because of the storyline with Zelda). But Skyward Sword was my introduction to the lore side of everything.
Shortly after getting Skyward Sword, I was given Hyrule Historia. My days were spent tracing Loftwings through the pages on my light board when I wasn't playing the game.
Tumblr media
Slowly, despite my love for the giant birds, Skyward Sword was pushed to the back burner because of Twilight Princess. I actually got stuck in Faron Woods trying to find the Elder Kikwi (I could not find the path up to him for some reason) and became discouraged, quickly forgetting it. When I finally did go back to play it, I ashamedly used the entire ZeldaDungeon walkthrough for it and didn't even try. Today when playing a game, I refuse to look up a walkthrough for anything unless me and my husband both can't figure out how to keep going.
By the end of playing Skyward Sword that way, it had taken me a long four or five years to beat the game, and it always felt inferior to Twilight Princess. Heck, I even gave Link a different name. When I beat Demise, I was 17 and realizing the depth of the story that I'd missed. I erased my save file, and started again. Shortly after, unfortunately, my Wii ended up getting locked in a storage unit.
I'm 23 and I finally have it back. I'm stunned that (so far) everything seems to be working correctly. Picking up on my old profile, I hadn't even gotten past the Flight Ceremony. I've been replaying it when I have free time, which is why I haven't been posting on here. Every puzzle I thought was so hard back then is easy, too easy-- so far.
Tumblr media
I'm just taken aback. The setting. The characters. The soundtrack. Everything is beautiful. The colors. The interactions with early Gorons and Kikwis and Parella before they evolved into what they are now. Knowing that Link and Zelda form a new Hyrule, that Groose may be the ancestor of the Gerudo, and that the giant tree in Faron Woods may be the ancestor of the Deku Tree.
Let's start with the day-to-day life of a Skyloftian. Here, everyone knows everyone. Your whole life is in the clouds; the weather isn't really severe at this altitude, but I'm assuming Skyloft still gets rain and snow sometimes. It's probably chilly a lot of days, but judging from the vegetation I would say a mild, spring-like climate is logical. Depending on your preference, you may grow up to work in the bazaar, farm, or, if you're lucky, join the Knight Academy from a young age.
There must be more that the game is implying, surely. Obviously, you may or may not bond with a Loftwing when you come of age, although not doing so is probably immensely rare. I'm sure there are explorers, travelers, other small sky villages; lore-accurate Skyloft must be fairly large. It's small and simple, but it's all everyone knows.
Link had (if you consider the manga by Akira Himekawa canon) clearly joined the Knight Academy young, but was late bonding with a Loftwing. Until of course he bonded with a Crimson Loftwing, previously believed extinct. This is probably the last of its kind, and again, drawing from manga, is unbeknownst to them a holy bird.
Tumblr media
Zelda is the daughter of the Headmaster, however, and unfortunately without a mother. Gaepora probably thought it best to enroll her in the academy so that he could keep an eye on her, or perhaps just had her stay around the area. Either way, she showed immense promise, becoming a proficient rider, scholar, and swords woman herself (I'm assuming, if she can defend herself on the Surface when she has none of her goddess powers).
Link and Zelda's relationships vary from game to game. However, this one in particular is one where they're more than just friends. They clearly love one another, which is bittersweet considering that they are the first of many incarnations that rarely get together.
Tumblr media
Throughout the game, we witness the story of two fated heroes: a goddess reincarnated in human form and her chosen hero, both entirely unaware of the fate that awaits them. They go from happily living life to being thrown into a wild adventure about the fate of the world in an instant-- and they're still just kids. They're only 17 and a half (source: Hyrule Historia). We witness incredible character arcs: Link making the transition from a sleepyheaded goofball to a hardened warrior (although I like to think he retained his silly traits); Zelda from a level-headed student to a woman whose regaining the memories of her Goddess form, struggling to cope with the transformation; Groose, an awful bully whose only goal in the end is to help Link and Zelda; and even Fi, who learns that she needed to understand the human spirit better in order to retain her holy form.
This is a world only a thousand years or so after the war in which Hylia, the Demon King, and the Ancient Hero fought, the very first incarnations in an endless cycle. This was supposed to be the only time this happened. Demise was imprisoned, but only temporarily even his weakened state. Link was reborn with the courageous spirit of his ancestor. Hylia shed her holy form and was reborn as a mortal girl. This was supposed to be the only cycle of reincarnation-- until Demise cursed Link and Zelda to forever fight against his evil spirit whenever they are reborn.
Tumblr media
After Demise's defeat, Link and Zelda create the new realm of Hyrule, established on the surface. In a perfect world, they'd live out the rest of their days peacefully. But I'm sure their new kingdom had a lot of issues, and I'm sure that the peoples of the Surface weren't all welcoming to the Hylians. Not to mention, Link probably had a lot of trauma from his search for Zelda, and she is living not only with the memories of herself as a Skyloftian, but her memories from being the Goddess Hylia during the Imprisoning War. While their kingdom was at peace and they knew they were safe, they worried for when Demise would ultimately return and wreak havoc once again.
They built the Temple of Time around the Master Sword's pedestal, sealing it away with the powers of the Sacred Stones from the Gorons, Kikwis, and Parella (which would in turn become Koroks and Zora, respectively). Skyloft was forgotten. There were rumors of a city in the sky, or places such as the Temple of Winds, but Skyloft as it was known was largely forgotten. Most Hylians had followed Link and Zelda to the new kingdom on the Surface, although for many years they lived in both places. Newer generations likely would not have bonded with Loftwings. Perhaps some of the civilians who had remained behind eventually evolved into the Zonai in Tears of the Kingdom.
While Hyrule would see villains later on-- Vaati, for instance, as The Minish Cap and Four Swords both take place after Skyward Sword-- the Master Sword would not be picked up again until Ocarina of Time, several thousand years after Skyward Sword.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, I think the most pivotal part of Skyward Sword is the relationship between Link and Zelda. And maybe their descendants-- OoT Link and Zelda, Twilight Princess Link and Zelda-- that never had a relationship felt that some remnant of that longing between the original two. The Spirit Maiden and her Chosen Hero, doomed to an endless cycle. In some instances, they were able to be together, but very rarely. Most of the time, there is little if any record of Zelda's husbands in any iteration, if she ever had any, although there are theories of Link falling in love with Malon, or Midna, or someone else.
Certainly, if you consider Tears of the Kingdom to be in the same timeline as Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, to me, it feels like the legend has come full circle. Eight year old me loved Twilight Princess more because of the fact that I could transform into a world-- now that I'm older, I can really appreciate this tragic and beautiful story.

some destiny (zelda comic) lore
i really have absolutely no problem with AUs, but in the case of my zelda comic i kinda dont like it being called that bc i made it specifically around the idea of offering an origin story to .. everything really that could be true and put the entire series in an entirely different light
like most things in the series around the creation of the world and the godesses etc are told to us, and i always ask questions when sth is just told to you especially in this black and white kind of way
idk if i ever talked about it, probably not bc its somewhat of a big reveal in the comic (though its at the very end) and given how slow i am thats years away so:
the three gods (gods as a neutral term here) exists outside the physical realm in a sort of void like darkness with an endless completely calm ocean they created the world we know as hyrules world, in fact they created two more, each of them filled with life, at some point choosing a mortal to kill and make into a deity as their right hand since the gods cant go into these worlds themselves
they want to enact the plan we see in skyward sword, they want a monster to invade the land, their chosen deity to seal it, die and be reincarnated and start the whole zelda cycle as we know it; why?maybe purely as entertainment, which is why each cycle is so widely different, they are gods and treating life and worlds like their little toys feels kinda right- and they really dont like when their toys act against them, thats not what toys are supposed to do after all
so, courage as i like to call them, was a deity they created using a mortal, but they failed to even make their mortals believe in them, instead they were seen as the monster, the gods lost their patience and drowned their world leaving only courage to survive, while they failed their orders and were hated, they still cared about their world, seeing it slowly drown and abandoned by the gods made them filled with despair, in an outburst they destroy the spring of the gods (an ancient spring that is the first to exist in a world when its created) and it opens up a gate into the realm of the gods, that dark calm ocean of nothing- they go into it and wander into the closest source of light and it brings them into demise's world
demise is the deity of his world, and when courage arrives there they start to attack it, filled with desperation and rage that their world was drowned while this one thrived- demise hasnt failed the gods yet, and he fights and seals away courage with easy, but it lets him doubt the gods words, courage was supposed to be some evil monster, yet they were similar to him and he defeated them so easily, why would he chose to die and be reincarnated as a mortal? he wanted to stay a deity and protect his world forever- he started to stall for time, halting the building of the temples for the hero in the future, and at some point courage broke out of its seal, nothing of it was like before it was a strange and now truly, a monster, and demise killed it to protect his lands, thus making the gods prophecy unable to be furfilled and so the gods abandon his world too, they let mortals turn against him as his world slowly dries out, until there is nothing left alive but him and ghirahim, trying to drive him to madness so he becomes the monster for the the next world in the row, but fail just barely- he too destroys the ancient spring and discovers the gate it creates
so demise travels to hylias world, and hylia, hesitates to seal him right away bc she notices he is not a mindless monster like she was told, despite the gods effort to raise her in isolation and make her into the perfect vassal, hylias curiousity is too much, so she lets demise live, over and over as they battle- which is the story of the comic, at the end they fall in love and uncover the gods plans, that demise was in the same position as hylia is, and he killed a deity jsut like them, that the reincarnation thing might be a lie to get rid of the biggest threat to the gods (the deities needed to be gotten rid of before they realized anything) and replace it with a more controllable mortal once the set up for the play was done, this too has been a cycle in the end the gods make sure this time it ends up how they want, more or less (im leaving out the details for now) and demise gets sealed and hylia dies, both of them taken by the gods but as both resisted them it is not perfect, demise still did not turn into the monster they needed so what you fight in skyward sword is an apparition of him, not him truly, and ghirahim knew he would never be himself again but his desperation and devotion made him try anyway only to end up playing right into the gods hands
and that is how the series started, a scheme of the gods to create their little play, inventing new little adversaries and eviil beings but short lived so easily to reinvent over and over, but its all based on lies, zelda isnt special, she was jsut a mortal that happened to be chosen by the gods to take the role she has now, shes no reincarnation of hylia, none of the things they tell you about hylia are true, its the gods lying to you, and the trio is stuck in this cycle not realizing they are merely being played with
(being sealed or dying as a deity send you to the realms of the gods, where they pin them down on a pillar like bugs (unconcious) and occasional borrow their magic for some tricks and schemes to play with in the world of hyrule, the deities are still there, and will be until the gods decide to kill them fully- and at the end of destiny as demise is take by them, in the last few moments before he is hung up like a trophy he not only sees that courage, who he thought he had fully killed, was already there, but in the darkness were countless remains of abandoned deities hanging dead on pillars, how many times have the gods done this before?)
(possibly not as interesting as i hope it is, but this is what im going for, and it only really works if the rest of the series exists just the same, otherwise the whole point of putting everything in this context would become kinda meaningless? at least thats how i feel about it so i dont like calling it an AU, but im not mad about it bc i guess if you take all the lore at face value it is completely different and doesnt work with canon at all? idk )

Hello! I've been meaning to ask this question since I read Sword-hearted but I was wondering if you've any headcanons you'd like to share about Théoden's sisters (only the unnamed ones or Théodwyn or both, I don't mind!)? (no pressure at all!)
I do indeed! I’ve been working on fleshing out Éowyn’s aunts for a WIP, and International Women’s Day seems like a good a day for sharing these.
Théodburga (born in 2946) was Thengel and Morwen's eldest child and daughter. She took after Thengel in appearance and Morwen in personality. She held greater love toward Rohan than her father did, and during her youth in Gondor, she would often ask her father for stories of Rohan, to which he would (usually begrudgingly) indulge her. She was often more successful if she asked Morwen, who had learned all that she could from the libraries of Lossarnach of the stories and culture of Rohan during her courtship with Thengel. As she grew up, she came to appreciate both sides of her ancestry.
Théodburga married Éoforheard (uncle of Éomund), lord of Aldburg, in 2970 and had three daughters with him (who, though Éowyn grew up in Aldburg with them, had such a gap in ages from her that she never was able to befriend them, and all were married and settled by the time Éowyn was taken to Edoras, leaving her without cousins to ask to come with her and keep her company). After Éoforheard’s death, Théodburga took up rulership of Aldburg until Éomund came of age and she relinquished the rulership to him. She was held by all the people of Aldburg as a greater ruler than her husband had been.
Despite their differences in age and personality, she grew close with Théodwyn after they had both reached adulthood, and she grieved greatly at her sister’s death, wracked with guilt at not being able to draw Théodwyn from either her illness or the depression she had fallen into after Éomund’s death.
Trewred (born in 2952) was the second daughter and took after Morwen in appearance, inheriting her dark hair. Having been under a year old at the time their family moved to Rohan, she had no memory of Gondor, and as a child often begrudged the people of Edoras for speaking ceaselessly of her Gondorian looks, when she herself felt little connection to Gondor.
She applied herself to learning the history of Rohan and often kept company with Gléowine, the court minstrel, learning the songs and tales of Rohan, and spent much time in the company of the older men and women of the court and city, who were held as elders and sages. She became known as a wite, or wise woman, and the people of Edoras often came to her for counsel.
In 2977, the lord of Hytbold in the Eastemnet visited Edoras, and Trewred married him a year later, seizing the chance to escape Edoras, where she felt she could never fully shake off her Gondorian ancestry, however much she immersed herself in the history and lore of Rohan. She and her husband were never able to bear children, and he died only a few years after they married. She never remarried and chose to remain in Hytbold, where she became greatly esteemed among her people for her wisdom.
Trewhild (born in 2956) was the third daughter, and like Trewred, she took after Morwen in appearance. As children, she and Trewred were the closest of the sisters, since Trewred was too young to have any memory of Gondor and Trewhild was born after their family moved to Rohan. That they both visibly reflected their Gondorian ancestry the most of their siblings and yet had the least connection with Gondor bound them all the closer. Trewhild loved (and was greatly skilled at) sparring and feats of arms and often joined Théoden as he trained with the men of his father’s Éored.
Trewhild never married (and as the fourth child felt little obligation to produce an heir) and instead chose to relinquish her title and duty. She stayed often in Hytbold with Trewred, and during the spring and summer would join the nomadic Rohirrim in the Wold, who named her a shield maiden, and protected their herds from Orc raids. It was Trewhild who first inspired Éowyn to want to become a shield maiden.
As a child, Théodwyn was greatly curious about her Gondorian heritage and the land that had been home to all of her siblings but her and Trewred, and often begged Morwen to tell her of her youth in Gondor and to describe for her the flowering vales of Lossarnach. She harbored some resentment over never having seen Gondor and couldn’t understand Trewred and Trewhild’s desire to distance themselves from their Gondorian ancestry. For this Thengel loved her dearest of all his children.
Théodwyn was closest with Théoden, often following at his heels as he went about his duties. When he returned from patrols and from hunting Orc raiding parties, he often brought her little gifts—a wooden horse he had carved while sitting on watch, an Orc arrowhead he had collected after a battle, a bundle of sweet cakes he had bartered from the Éored’s cook—and Théodwyn cherished these.
All of Théodwyn’s sisters were still alive at the time of her death, and though Théodburga would gladly have taken in Éomer and Éowyn, she knew how deeply Théoden had loved Théodwyn and did not want to rob him of the last memory he would have of her, and so she did not counter his offer to raise Éomer and Éowyn.
The general consensus from most fans seems to be either that the three unnamed sisters had died by the time of Théoden’s death and had left no sons who could lay claim to the throne of Rohan (or those sons had died), or that they had moved back to Gondor and married there and thus effectively removed any potential children they might have had from the succession. I don’t personally care for all of Théoden’s sisters and their children having died before the time of his death. It seems implausible to me that absolutely everyone would have died by then, and thus my headcanon about only Théodburga having children.
And I don’t really buy the idea that the two eldest unnamed daughters would want to move back to Gondor because of having spent their youth there, as the oldest daughter would have been between six and ten years old at the time of moving, and the second eldest somewhere between infancy and four years old—too young, imo, to have formed much of a connection to Gondor, or at least the kind of connection that would induce them to move back as adults.
