*though he does find it cute when you become flustered due to something he did

*when you become too flustered, you’ll hide your face, to which Caine will pull you into a hug and hold you close to him, apologizing for making you so flustered

*he’s not trying to do it on purpose, he promises!

*whenever you become shy, you will hide behind Caine if he’s around, pressing your fingers together in a nervous manner

Caine x assistant!reader

Requested over on ao3! Reader is supposed to be an AI assistant.

You are one of Caine’s helpers, but you weren’t anything like Bubble. You were (human-like/animal-like, etc) and couldn’t be popped like them. Besides, you enjoyed helping Caine and seeing all that he would come up with for the characters’ adventures! While you may not have been around with Caine since the beginning, you had been helping him for a long time, but lately you’ve noticed something. You knew you liked being around him, but lately, you felt different… not in a bad way but it was odd.

You figured one of the others would have an answer for you, so you figured you could start there. You didn’t want to tell Caine yet until you were sure about these feelings you had. What you didn’t know, however, was that he felt the same thing towards you, but kept it hidden quite well. Also he knew what you were up to, with his many eyes around the place.

You had decided to ask Ragatha, since you knew Jax would not help you, and even if he did, he would make fun of you for it and laugh at you, which you didn’t need at the moment and the others probably wouldn’t be much help either.

“Oh, hello, Y/n! Is there something I can help you with?” You nodded as you landed on the ground in front of her.

“Yeah, there’s something I want to ask about. I don’t want to go to Caine about this yet, since I’m… unsure of what it is.”

“Of course, I don’t mind at all! But… you do remember that he has eyes everywhere, right?”

“Well, yeah, but like I said, I wanted to talk this out first.”

“Fair enough. Come on, let’s go talk it out.” With that said, she motioned for you to follow her, which you did.

Meanwhile, in someplace you were not aware of, Caine was talking to Bubble about, well, you!

“They’re my assistant, yet I can’t shake these feelings I have for them.”

“You should just tell them how you feel, boss!”

“I can’t do that, Bubble!” Caine turned to face away from his other assistant, his arms crossed. “As much as I want to.”

“But you know they feel that way towards you!” Bubble floated around to his front, getting a bit too close to him, making him back away.

“I am aware of this, yes.”

“Then just tell them! What are you so nervous about?”

“It’s not that I am nervous, Bubble.”

“Then… what is it?”

“I have no idea!”

“…if you’re not going to tell them, then I will!” And with that, Bubble disappeared.

“Bubble, you little menace, you get back here!” Caine took off after them.

Back with you and Ragatha, you had finally found what these feelings were that you felt around Caine.

“So that’s what it is, huh..” you tapped your chin in thought. “Well… even if I did tell him, there’s no way he would feel that way! Right?”

“I’m not sure, Y/n. But uh, it looks like you’ve got company.” Confused, you turned around to see Bubble approaching you two, with Caine right behind them.

“Y/n! There is something Caine would like to tell you!” You could just hear the mischief in their high pitched voice. Before you could ask what was going on, Caine had caught up to Bubble and popped them.

“I am very sorry for them!”

“It’s fine, Caine. What did you want to talk to me about?”

“Well, my wonderful assistant, let’s go talk elsewhere.” You glanced back at Ragatha, who only shrugged but nodded in agreement, as if to tell you to go with him. You shrugged in response and looked back at Caine, before following after him.

Once you were in a more secluded area, you two stopped and looked back at each other. It was quiet for a few moments, before you spoke up.

“Alright, now that we’re by ourselves, what did you want to tell me?” You asked, tilting your head to the side in a curious manner.

“Well…” Caine sighed a bit, taking a moment to gather his thoughts. “It’s about… us.”

“About us?”

“Yes, my lovely assistant. You see, I am aware of your feelings for me.”

“I figured as much.” You rubbed your arm, feeling a bit awkward now.

“However! I’ve been thinking… and uh, I feel the same way about you.”

“Wha-? You do?”

“Yes, I do.”

“I… I’m happy to hear it!” You smiled faintly and took a step closer to him.

“I’m sure you are, Y/n. I’m just… happy you feel the same way.” You laughed a bit and nodded in agreement before you asked,

“Hey, Caine..? Could we keep this a secret from the others for a little while longer?”

“Of course, my dear. They don’t have to know a thing.”

“Good. Because I’m not ready for what they’re going to say just yet.”

“Well technically they don’t really need to know. So it’s really up to you.”

“Perfect. Now let’s just… stay here for the time being.” You and Caine spent what felt like the next few hours in the same place, talking about not only possible ideas for adventures, but about other things you could think of, just happy to be spending time together.

Pomni, Kinger, Caine & Jax's reaction to their s/o abstracting

warning(s): angst, hurt no comfort, self-blame, "death" of the reader, implied "death"/abstraction of another character (spoiler: Kinger), hopeful outcome note(s): There's nothing incredibly heavy or detailed, just tread carefully if "death" is something you are sensitive to, please. The "hopeful outcome" implies that Caine will at some point in time be able to fix those who've abstracted. A/N: I was feeling particularly cruel and wanted to write some angst, this came to mind and I'll be honest. I made myself a little sad.

Pomni

She never saw it coming, of course, you were acting different lately but she didn’t think it would… lead to you abstracting…

It took forever for things to get some semblance of normalcy, and you being with her was a major part of it.

Sure the relationship in a place like this was a bit, weird, but you cared about her, and she cared about you.

You kept her sane and grounded, so when you were found abstracted? It felt like she failed you.

Ragatha tries to assure her that you aren’t completely gone. Like Kaufmo you’re being kept in the cellar. Caine claims the abstracted are being kept there until he can find a way to “fix” them. (Whether he’s genuine or not though, none of them know.)

It’s all empty promises though, she still feels like she failed you.

Kinger

Not again…

Kinger silently promised himself not again, he was fine being friendly with everyone else that fell into the circus, but he had no intentions of being more than that.

But then you happened, and while he was still in shambles from the time and the insanity spent here, you were there beside him. Like a knight in shining armor.

He hadn’t been around when you abstracted, in fact, he didn’t know you abstracted until there was yelling, and boom an abstraction was causing chaos.

Kinger didn’t know who it was until it was sent off to the cellar, actually, he didn’t know who it was until he realized everyone was present except you.

There’s a high probability that losing someone again, losing you, is what ends up being his own downfall. The other’s (not including Jax) try their all to get him to calm down but it’s not enough, it’s too late…

Caine

Of all the humans to be pulled in he never once got attached.

This was never supposed to happen, he’s incapable of love.

Caine does his best to keep the humans from abstracting, and as many eyes as he has over the place, there are always ones that slip through his grasp.

Of course, he’s not around when you abstract, it takes a bunch of hooting and hollering from everyone before he shows up and oh hey an abstraction.

At an immediate glance, he knows it’s you, abstractions never remotely look like the person they were before but he knows it’s you. You don’t recognize him as you lash out, of course you don’t, you can’t.

He’s unsure about tossing you with the others in the cellar, there’s nowhere else he can truthfully keep you without causing problems. So into the cellar, you go.

Caine visits you though, not for long but he does check in on you. Not that anything changes, but out of all the abstractions down there, he knows exactly which one is you.

You’ll be the first human he fixes as soon as he’s able to.

Jax

His s/o abstracted? Nice joke, though it’s in poor taste. You’re completely fine, he just saw you earlier.

Jax doesn’t believe it until he sees it, and seeing it absolutely ruins him. He’s seen countless others get abstracted and thrown into the cellar, but why, why does it have to be you?

Why couldn’t it have been literally anyone else? He didn’t give a shit about anyone else, the one person he cared for, and you…

Similarly to Pomni, he feels it’s his fault like he could’ve, no should’ve done more. Was he so wrapped up in everything else that he didn’t notice the signs? Why didn’t you talk to him? You didn’t, didn’t do that on purpose, did you?

For the first time ever, the others are genuinely worried about Jax, they all saw/know how much you meant to him. The two of you even spoke fondly about what the two of you would do if you got out of the circus.

For a while Jax becomes even more irrational and unhinged, they try not to hold it against him too badly, even when he oversteps. He’s grieving and none of them know just how long that’ll go on.

Jax isn’t quite the same afterward, but he makes sure that nobody else tries to worm their way into his heart.

If it’s possible, he’ll make sure Caine fixes you the second he’s able to. Even if Caine can fix only one person, it’s going to be you.

Gotta say, massive fan of the work you’ve pumped out, especially for TADC (it came out two weeks or so ago and there’s this much already what?!)

Glitchy pain

I've written for something like this before. And I wasn't sure if you wanted angst or fluff. But since what I wrote before was angst I'm gonna just donna do my ideas on this one. Also to anyone else who feels like requesting don't be afraid to ask for a lot of characters. My max is like 10 and only because Tumblr doesn't like super long posts. I honestly don't think I would have a max if not for that. But really from like 7 pm to 4 am I got a lot of free time and the want to write. So ask to your hearts content. TADC crew x (kind of) abstracted reader

Caine

Caine was floating around when he heard what sounded like a pained and glitchy scream? He quickly floats over to where he heard it from only to find you clutching your head crumpled up into a ball on the floor. He was about to float down and ask you what happened before he noticed the random glitches, black spiky flesh, and randomly colored eye balls all appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye. So he backed off, a little sad over the fact you were abstracting but life goes on. Until you let out another pained scream, it was almost like the abstraction reacted as the second you screamed it reverted a bit and slowed down. It continues like that for who knows how long. You in a mental and physical battle with abstraction. Caine just staring completely taken back by what he was witnessing. After enough time you vomit a nasty and seemingly living blob of black goo onto the floor and pass out. Caine stares at your motionless body for a few seconds before snapping out of it. He puts the weird goo blob into the cellar and takes you back to your room. He doesn't even know how to react, so he sits there at your bedside waiting for you to wake up. Once you do he is relived to find it's still you, speaking in full sentences and everything. Sure your voice and body have the occasional glitch but overall you're ok. So he leaves you be, mostly. He still needs to study your code for how you did that. But past that and him being a bit more "walking on egg shells" around you, but nothing really changes. And not wanting the others to think your a threat, you and Caine don't tell anyone.

Gangle

Gangle was wandering around looking for you. Her comedy mask broke again and you were the only one who knew how to fix it properly. She could patch it up sure but it never lasted long. Much like Caine she heard you scream out, only difference being she recognized your voice. She quickly changed from casual and aimless stroll to sprint with reason finding you leaned against a wall holding your stomach looking like your about to throw up. She runs up to you and places a hand(?) on each side of your head staring into your eyes. She in a panicked voice asks "Are you ok?! What happened?!" You half shove her away a garbled and messy version of your voice half screaming out that it isn't safe. You quickly regret taking the energy to speak and move as a giant surge of pain jolts up your digital spine forcing you onto your knees. You let out another pained groan/scream as black goo starts oozing out of your mouth. It's only then that Gangle realizes your glitching! She panics and tells you to stay calm while she gets Caine. Gangle sprints off with a mission luckily finding Caine rather quickly. She especially screams at him to help her/follow her. He listens and follows her. When she gets back to where she left you, your passed out. But you aren't glitching anymore. And your not fully abstracted. She carefully walks over to you and sets a gentle hand (ribbon) on your face feeling a whole lot of relief when you half swat at her hand in your sleep. She'll watch you while you sleep making sure you aren't disturbed but when you're awake and she's sure you're ok you are going to be getting a whole lot of cuddles from her. Her comedy mask can wait.

Zooble

Zooble was missing a leg and was hobbling/jumping her way towards your room to ask if you'd seen it. She knocked on your door only to receive no response. She knocks again. Nothing. So she unlocks it with the spare key you gave her. She is stunned by what she sees. Obsessive scribbles covering your walls. Wall paper torn and dirtied. Just leave me alone.) She cautiously walks over to your bed and peaks over it. Your laying there curled up into a ball torn and broken items surrounding you. Y-your abstracting?! B-but... Zooble doesn't even really register the fact. She's in shock from seeing you like this. (I mean I would be too) You let out an ear piercing scream and claw at your own face with enough force to tear the skin, if you weren't digital at least. The glitching gets much much worse for a few seconds before just, stopping. No rhyme or reason that she can see. But you can bet your a&$ that after like 5 seconds pass and you stop showing signs of abstraction she's going to huddle near your spitting out so many questions. Mainly ones like "ARE YOU OK!?!" and "Your still with me right?! RIGHT!?!"

Kinger

Kinger would more likely then not be there when your first started glitching. And that might make him officially lose it. Your the second person in this hell (Queener) who he felt close too. And he outlived you too. Still you aren't abstracted yet. Maybe their's still a chance! So he sprints off screaming out for Caine in a voice that is loud enough to make you go deaf if you were too close to him. When he finds Caine. And he will find Caine he grabs him by the shoulders and sprints towards where he last saw you. He basically throws Caine at your glitching form and yells at him to fix you! In that second you stop glitching Caine did nothing and Kinger will basically tackle you. He'll pick you up and hold you over his head like a spear and sprint towards your rooms. Once there he will set up the comfiest coziest pillow fort possible then get you all comfy inside. Once he's sure your at least mostly safe and he's at least mostly calmed down he'll ask you about what happened. (Despite him being pretty crazy I really do feel like out of everyone he would be the best at communication in a friend or relationship. I mean he's that crazy and yet he still has manners and knowledge about a lot. Tbh he might become my fav. Idk it's possible.)

Ragatha

You were helping out Ragatha with a surprise she was making for everyone to lighten their moods when you said that you feel kind of sick so you were going to call it a night. She nods thanks you for the help you gave then gives you a quick peck to the lips as a send off. Not to much to her surprise you choose to lay in her bed instead of yours. Just something you do when you don't wanna be alone. She shrugs it off and keeps working actually quite grateful that you decided to not leave, not fully at least. She keeps working but stops when she hears some very concerning noises coming from your sleeping body. She turns around to see you tossing and turning an abnormal amount in your sleep, as well as making a lot of noises that sound like when someone is choking on their own blood. Concerned she carefully walks over to check on you only to recoil when she notices the glitching. She trips over her own foot and falls over onto her back. She quickly but clumsily gets up and gets back to you. She shakes you a bit trying to wake you up, but you don't only concerning her more. She yells calls out for Pomni who pokes her head through Ragatha's door a second later. Ragatha nearly screams at her to go get Caine. Pomni startled by Ragatha's tone turns heel and runs off to look for Caine while Ragatha stays with you. She keeps whispering things like "You're gonna be ok" and "Pomni's getting Caine just hang in there". Always keeping a hand on you not caring when it starts glitching out too. When Pomni returns with Caine, Ragatha full on yells at him to help you. He looks at you, then back at her, then with a apologetic tone says their isn't anything he can do as abstraction is one of those things he doesn't have control over. Ragatha breaks into tears. So she's gonna lose you, she was even there. BUT SHE CAN'T F@%#&$* HELP?! She holds onto you like you're her last tether to reality. And you seem to get better. Your at the very least don't seem to be in pain anymore! So she squeezes you, really f&$%@#* hard happier then should be possible that your improving.

Jax

Jax found you in his room voice glitching you huddled over in pain. At first he thought it was a revenge prank and acted accordingly. "Haha, very funny Y/N. Now get out of my room I need to do something." That is until you vomited up a ton of pitch black goo. Then he started taking it more seriously. He quickly crouches down and wraps an arm around you to try and provide some support. He freaks out and quickly pulls his arm back when you vomit up more goo and starts visibly glitching. He panics and quickly looks around his room locking onto a like 3 day old unopened water bottle. He opens it and hands it to you as well as a thing to squeeze that half yells to just hang in there he'll be right back. He sprints around not even knowing who to get. He sees Ragatha and half tackles her. He shouts directly into her face that you need help and that you in his room. He tosses her in the direction of his room then continues sprinting around not long after finding Caine. He grabs Caine ignoring his protests and runs back to his room where he fins Ragatha sitting next to his bed you tucked in. Your not vomiting anything and you aren't glitching. You're just shivering. He hears you mumble his name and literally kicks Ragatha and Caine out quickly getting to your side. After he feels he wont get hurt he quickly gets into bed holding you close "If you ever do that again I'm going to take back my vow to not tease you." He falls asleep with his chin resting on your head.

Pomni

At first when you started glitching Pomni didn't really know it was abstraction. She's never seen someone abstract after all, only seeing the finished product. But when you keep getting worse and worse she realizes that something is wrong. So she leaves you with a quick kiss then runs off to the communication thing Caine made after the whole Kaufmo incident. She calls him and when he picks up she screams into the phone that your glitching out. When Caine appears next to her she runs back over to where you are not even checking if Caine is following. When she gets back to you, you're still in really bad shape. She turns back to Caine and yells at him to help you. When he tells her that he can't she starts hyperventilating, then she sees him pick you up and the cellar hole open?! OH F&#$ NO! She basically punches Caine then clings to you protectively, ready to throw hands with Caine if she has to. Caine tries and pull her off when she starts glitching but she has the grip of a professional rock climber. So Caine has to keep curing her glitches at they appear. Cause in his mind your beyond help but she isn't. Then you start to improve. No more coughing and the glitching has slowed down! Pomni glares at Caine then turns back to you with a scared and tired smile on her face. Once your ok enough to talk you are going to get an earful. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL HER YOU WERE FEELING BAG ENOUGH TO ABSTRACT?!?!?! (Sorry this was so long. I got a little carried away. And surprisingly I'm pretty proud of this one. I hope you enjoyed it!)

୨୧ I dont really think Caine would be really scared or creeped out by you at the start, because he's an AI so, his reaction would be a totally different than the others, i can see him complimenting you actually.

୨୧ When you first got into the circus, you were just so eerily... calm? it impressed him a bit since everybody freaked out whenever they got to the circus, thats the first thing that kinda got him curious, but he just brushed it off when he found out its just in ur nature.

୨୧ When you talk slowly and smoothly like those creepy characters, he would just get a bit impatient, Caine is a very eletric and excited robot, so i dont really think he would have much patience with you when you start talking.

୨୧ One thing that can annoy him a bit is the fact you were just so mysterious, you werent really present on the adventures and when you were you just would blend in the background and didnt really do much, it was like you were a digital ghost or something.

୨୧ He would question the others of why they were so creeped by you, like i said, your weird nature wouldnt really have an effect on him so its very likely that he wont get why the others are so scared of you.

୨୧ About how he reacts to your creepy hobbies; he just doesnt really finds it age appropriate, like, why do you have so many gory drawings?! why do you keep trying to decapitate Jax?? to use his head as a souvenir?! reader!! that is not age appropriate!

୨୧ He would try to drive you away from those creepy hobbies, only upsetting you and making you "calmly" threat him saying you would make him eat his own eyes, but it was an empty threat since you cant do much to the RINGMASTER of the circus, and it didnt really work but oh well.

୨୧ He finds your character unique because it can 'almost blend in the dark easily' and he says that because one day he went out in the night to just wander around since he's an AI and doesn't really need sleep and... thats when he saw you, putting a message with a cute bow wrapped knife in Jax's door... you looked really nice in the dark btw.

୨୧ Yeah, overall, he just thinks you are another silly goof.

୨୧ I think Jax would be really fucked up, he made a HUGE mistake when he tried testing your patience at first, calling you "edgelord" and etc, he got a chance at first when you just decided to ignore him, but, he tried his luck again by trying to nag you with his pranks.

୨୧ He laughed at you threatening to give him 'a DIY plastic surgery' on his face, thinking you were just trying to be a "edgy kid"... until your brutal payback..

୨୧ Now you are haunting him, congrats, you have instigated fear into the 'funny' purple bunny that now everytime he sees you in a adventure, he gets more worried in making sure you aren't trying to stab his back with a axe than causing chaos and violence.

୨୧ This man was so flabbergasted when you tried to 'payback' his prank with setting up a axe trap in his room door to try and decapitate him, thats when Jax knew he fucked up.

୨୧ The others praise you because whenever your in the same room as Jax, he shuts up for the first time and as long as you're present in the same room as him, he wont bug anyone and that makes everybody so much happier.

୨୧ He has to check his door for traps EVERY MORNING to not get greeted with a knife to his forehead or worse: with you instead.

୨୧ You probably haunt his dreams, Jax probably had a nightmare that had you included, oh wow you have officially turned into Jax's living nightmare, like why is this happening to him?! is this karma for his pranks?! god help him.

୨୧ He hates you and your voice and everything about you! Thanks to you, now everybody has an argument to mock him, thanks to YOU everybody knows he's not that tough, even Gangle laughed at him!

can we get soft angst hcs of caine comforting a reader who entered the circus but found solace in escaping their old life?

Dang it didn't take long for the requests to come in haha, but yessss I'm eager to write for TADC now!! (just note my hcs/interpretations of the characters will change as more episodes come out).

When you first arrived to the circus not long after Pomni, Caine was worried that you were going to freak out over trying to find an exit (that definitely does NOT exist).

So he just cuts to the chase and states you're stuck here forever. There's no exit doors or hidden portals or secret keys, so you can just give up on returning to your old life altogether.

But you don't look scared in the slightest.

Confused? Yes. Certainly.

However once you've taken in all this information, you just stand there with a smile and a relaxed posture--a display that concerns Caine a lot.

"They seem happy, boss.." Bubble whispers. "Is that a good sign?"

"Not sure. Never seen anybody react this way. Maybe they're just holding it all in and pretending to be fine when they're really no--WOAH, stop the presses!!!" His eyes bulge out of his head/mouth(?) as he sees the tears running down your cheeks. "You're crying more than Gangle does on Tuesday! Is it true that you were masking your emotions????"

"..huh? What..oh no!" You laugh and wipe away the tears, before explaining to the ringmaster that you were indeed very happy.

You spoke of how sad and dull your life was outside of this game.

It was your escape, a comfort, and you've been a huge supporter of its development over the years.

Even in your sleep, you never stopped thinking about it--you always had dreams of being in this very circus, having loads of fun with the other characters and joining their wacky adventures.

So to learn that (somehow) you became a permanent part of the game is literally a dream come true!

Of course, you weren't expecting the presence of the Abstracted and Pomni's constant freakouts, but you couldn't be happier.

Caine was surprised that you remembered so much of your old life (whereas poor Pomni couldn't even recall her own name).

But he sees you're content with starting a new life here in the Digital Circus and grins, eager to plan some exciting fun and games for you to enjoy.

He will, however, make a point to pair you with Pomni so you could help her calm down and show her that being in this virtual world wasn't so bad.

It's probably not the best idea, though, as nothing you say comforts her.

"I mean, your old life could've been really bad and-"

"But what if it was good? What if I had tons of friends and a great family and a successful job and.....oh god..what if I had PETS?!!!" She wails. "Who's gonna take care of them?!!!"

Had she remembered at least one little bad detail from her old life....persuasion would come a lot easier.

But Caine encourages you to keep trying anyways.

he doesnt really have a preference of where he likes to kiss you! he kind of just peppers you all over that he can reach! he does tend to default to kissing the back of your hands as well as your cheeks! theyre the easiest to kiss without doinking you with his teeth!

pomni

likes kissing you on the cheeks as well as the mouth. she doesnt pepper you with kisses as much as caine, really just kisses you a normal amount.. once in the morning and once before bed when she gets real set and comfortable in the relationship!

ragatha

cheek kisses and forehead kisses are always her go to! theres something more tender about kissing your partner on the forehead as opposed to kissing them in the lips, at least in her opinion!

jax

thinks that kissing is gross- hes a little weird about affection and kind of has the cooties mindset, but on the occasion that he does kiss you its usually a quick peck on the cheek.. so i guess the cheek is where he likes to kiss his partner! definitely needs some time to mature and get used to it before he really shows you some affection- but even then hes not all that affectionate as a person or partner... not physically at least...

similar to caine he likes to kiss you on the back of the hands, usually taking them in his before pressing where his mouth would be to it! his second choice is on the lips, though!

zooble

not much of a kisser like jax but thats because they would prefer to hold hands or something within that ballpark. though when they do kiss you, its usually an awkward 'peck' to your cheek, they dont want to poke you with their sharp head or bash their face against yours..

gangle

despite her shy personality, kisses on the lips are common for her! cheek kisses are also pretty common as well! she doesnt kiss often, but she does lean into it just a bit when the relationship develops! she kind of becomes less shy about loving you!

gummigoo

kissing with his snout can be a little... awkward... but he likes kissing you on the cheek! in the most non sexual way, he also enjoys kissing you on the neck, especially if youre ticklish!

*Caine didn’t think it was possible for nightmares to happen in the digital circus, but when you came to him after experiencing one, he knew something wasn’t right

*but for now, his first priority was to help you and calm you down

*though… he was a little surprised that you would come to him for this instead of one of the others. To be fair, you were his s/o, so of course you would go to him!

*Caine didn’t mind though, he was just focused on you right now

*he had brought you back to your room/someplace more comfortable, had you lie down and he lies there with you

*and if you want to talk about it, he’s more than happy to listen, but if not, then that’s okay too!

*Caine will keep you close to him and talk a little bit before you feel calmed down enough to get back to sleep

*though sleep isn’t really needed in the digital circus, it does make you feel a little better

*Caine will stay by your side until you wake up, in case you have another nightmare

Nightmares were never really a big issue for you when you were back in the real world, since you didn’t get them very often for whatever reason that you weren’t complaining about. However, that’s all changed when you ended up in the digital circus. While you didn’t have nightmares every time you fell asleep, they were more frequent than what you were used to and it did bother you. You didn’t really tell anyone about the nightmares since you figured they would either not care or just brush it off as the digital circus getting to you, so you kept quiet about it.

That is, until one night cycle, you had fallen asleep, or at least, what felt like going to sleep in this world. It had started off as a nice dream, which of course that part you didn’t really remember. The next thing you knew, you were sitting up, your eyes wide with fear as you looked around the room. The worst part about these nightmares was that you couldn’t remember a thing. Sure, you would think that would be the good thing, but it wasn’t always good.

You got up out of your bed and went over to the door, opening it and walking out into the hallway which lead to the others rooms. You closed the door behind you and started walking down the hallway, hoping to find a certain ringmaster along the way. Yes, you were looking for Caine, since you figured you could possibly get some answers behind these constant nightmares you were having, and possibly get some sleep in the process.

“Caine?” You called out, looking around the area you were in as you shoved your hands into your pockets. No response.

“Caine?” You called again, but louder, hoping to get his attention.

“Yes, my dear Y/n?” You flinched a bit as you heard his voice from behind you. You turned to face him, as if relieved to see him there. “Is something the matter, you don’t look too good.”

“Yeah, that’s actually… what I wanted to talk to you about.” You rubbed the back of your head as he moved closer to you, as if inspecting you.

“Very well, let’s go somewhere else.” He grabbed your hand and the next thing you knew, you were in another room, one you had been in a few times when you two would have a chat. You had pulled up one of the nearby chairs and sat down, Caine now across from you.

“Alright, tell me what’s going on.”

“Lately, I’ve been having these nightmares. Most of the time I don’t even remember anything about them, I just wake up with wide eyes, breathing heavy as if I had just been chased by something.”

“I see..”

“I’ve never had this issue before, Caine.”

“I’m afraid I don’t have an answer for you, Y/n, the others have not informed me of any nightmares they have had, but! If it makes you feel any better, I could see if I could help make things better for you.” You stood up and went over to him, pulling him into a hug, which caught him off guard.

“Whoa..! Uh, Y/n, are you alright, my dear?”

“I’m fine. What, I can’t hug you? Is that also against your weird terms and conditions or whatever is it?”

“No, not at all, I was just.. not expecting that.” You felt him hug you back, the two of you now sitting in a comfortable silence for a few moments.

“…don’t let the nightmares bother you, Y/n. I will do what I can to help you.”

“Thank you, Caine, I really do appreciate it.”

“Now come on, let’s get you back to your room.”

“…I don’t want to let go, I’m comfortable.” Caine was quiet for a moment, before he picked you up, and the next thing you knew, you were both back in your room.

“I suppose I can stay until you get back to sleep, if that helps you.” You smiled faintly and nodded.

“That would be nice, thank you.”

“Of course, Y/n, I don’t want you, or anyone else really, to suffer from nightmares, but… especially not you.”

“Thanks again, Caine.” You mumbled as you closed your eyes. “I know we don’t really need sleep here, but it does feel nice.”

“It’s no problem.” You felt him lightly pat your head before falling asleep, or at least, the closest thing you can get to sleep in this world.

★ The first thing he did after giving you a new name and explaining where you are was to bring you around the grounds. Show you all the places you can go and the places you shouldn't. Pretty standard introduction.

★ While he showed you around it became apparent that you were a bit different from the other humans. He just couldn't put his finger on it. Oh well, he'll figure it out later! (Spoiler: he doesn't)

★ He doesn't realize what his feelings are trying to tell him. Sure, he knew that he liked being around you but he didn't think it was that big of a deal. Caine tried to not let his fondness for you overshadow his roal as the ringleader.

★ It can be compared to a parent trying not to have a favorite child. Yes, he has one. But he's worried that the others would feel less special if he said anything. He's gotta love the 22-45 yo children equally!

★ He's the last person to realize he has a crush on you. Everyone is talking bets on when he'll figure it out. Except for Kinger, the chess piece is so oblivious to his surroundings it's not even funny.

★ The moon is so jealous of you. Even downright mean to you. Between the moon and the sun you should choose the sun. The choice is yours after all. "Oh, it's you.." "Caine, don't you think your new friend is a bit much?"

★ Personal space? We don't know her. He's touchy with everyone but he's even moreso with you. Unless of course you ask him not to touch you, then he'll respect your boundaries and stop.

★ He'd like to tell you about some ideas he has for future adventures. One condition though, you cant tell anyone what he shows you. You gotta pinky promise him! He can't have any surprises ruined, now can he?
