another year gone, this one certainly did not fly though. i can't believe i've been on here for as long as i have, especially been active as long as i have either. i made a lot of sets this year (for obvious reasons) but i don't think any of them have been memorable to me at all. however, while thinking about it and discussing it with friends, i realized that i could make them do my work for me. <3 hence, this year's wrapped has a feature from people who have been around for me this year in various ways, most of them have heard me cry about why i did this to myself at least once, and all of them have been so so supportive i genuinely would not have even made it halfway through daily joon without them. i probably also would not have made it through Life without them. through this, i also realized i talk to a lot of people. somehow.

i am very grateful for every single person listed here, not only for the past year or past few years of friendship but also because when i texted them with no context right before christmas asking them to choose their favourite gif set and just assigned a month, all of them were like okay cool, no questions asked. you guys are all too cool to be my friends (except shivi <3 i'm kidding) but i'm glad i have all of you fooled into thinking i'm fun. :D thank you all of you i love you guys even if me saying it is an annual event. <3

The Promise

Anyone who saw this show knows why it's here, and whoever didn't, well I envy you. I wanted to slap Phupa on a weekly basis and was screaming "Nan, why do you like this guy??!! at regular intervals.

I think the only good thing that I can say about this show (other than Party) is that I think it was the first interaction I had on BL tumblr and it was with @respectthepetty that like me was suffering through it weekly.

What is there more to say that I haven't said? As @twig-tea and anyone who read my recaps knows, I started really liking this show, and my discussions with Twig about the time traveling aspect in the beginning were great. But halfway through, the show trough any logic out of the window and I began eye rolling and screaming at the screen at an increasing rate.

These two were my lifeline. I apologize to the fans but I was already getting tired of Minato when they threw the amnesia plot in there so I was pulling my hair in the final episodes when Asuka and Shu weren't on screen.

and taehyung calling namjoon to ask him for his song to listen to in the car was sooo sweet. you can really tell tae believes all his bandmates are musical geniuses in their own right and he's such a genuine fan and admirer of them all. he's a sweetheart and he's really been bringing so much extra light to an already wonderful and bright show by tagging along on the trip. they're having so much fun and it makes me happy to watch. i miss them all so much !!

fic like therapy: Spudcity’s How to mend with gold

Summary: Taehyung has a list of things to do to become a better person, and that's how he ends up volunteering at a queer youth centre. There’s only one problem – Yoongi works there. The same Yoongi who rejected him years ago and hasn’t given him the time of day since.

Themes: Social media and celebrity, consent, LGBTQ youth, anxiety, PTSD

Why it resonates: Written in Taehyung's pov, the text captures the dizzying effort to reconcile one’s murky subjective experience with contrary evidence in other parties’ actions and words. This Taehyung is used to negotiating his social reality, deferring to others when they aren't interested in his perspective and lying when reframing isn't enough to keep it pleasant. Some of these discrepancies are deliberate constructions (influencer image, gaslighting “friend”, impossible mother), others are a misunderstanding or the result of broken self esteem. Taehyung starts in crisis, isolated by these tactics and unable to understand his own hurt. Through the fic, Taehyung learns how to trust himself and others by finding a safer way to live and accepting help from those who care.

Personally: A lot of Tae’s struggles feel familiar. The mindfuck of people feeling entitled to your body, the impulse to smooth over failings that don't seem justifiable, and the emotional wall he has built to keep even good friends safe from his “too much” mess. It's soothing to watch Taehyung break this all down, bit by bit, and heal. Especially sweet is Yoongi’s support, first grudgingly and then gently offering the tools and space for Taehyung to find his feet. Also every time a weird Taehyung is loved for his whole self, my heart grows three sizes.

* he likes reading and working on bikes though he doesn’t do much of either these days

* he had a severe drug problem years ago and with taejoon’s help he got clean and was in rehab

* ian is entirely in love with oh taejoon. there’s no question about it despite the fact that he’s not admitted it. he’s known him for 19 years and they’ve always been very close with one another. they eventually started sleeping together and do on occasion even now. it’s a complicated history but ian believes he owes taejoon so much for all he’s received from him. of course, everything between them was pretty much kept a secret though many knew they were close. during their younger years they were attached, almost always seen together. later on down the line taejoon often shows up to see youngwoo
