A little bit of Vaughn lore cos I love talking about him: I was staring at a recent picture I took of him & Alex bein' all cutsie. :3 (they are together in an au I have, well... an ot3 between them & goro), and I was just thinking how different it is to pair vaughn with a woman, I'm not used to seeing it xD

But it got me thinking about a headcanon I made a long while ago.. vaughn was quite the ladies man in his early to mid twenties during his street kid phase. He worked as a bartender at Lizzie's for a couple of years, and during those couple of years he came across a lot of beautiful ladies ;) He had his little f boy phase for sure jdnsfkjgng

But the one person he always had his eye on during that time was Susie Q, and they had a pretty intense "fling" for almost the entirety of vaughn's time bartending.

I kinda wanna dig into that, maybe make a photostory about it one day, it's so hard to pair anyone with vaughn other than goro but I keep forgetting he did have a lot of flings in the past, lol.

obviously the poll is still going, but i think i’ve gotten enough courage from it to post something original! which is what i wanted :b so..this is one scene that’s from like, the middle of the book, in which a mysterious pov is inserted between chapters… consider telling me your thoughts! replies are on, dms are open, anon asks are on! ahhhhh i’m nervous

Sometimes, late at night when the wind howls, and he has nothing but a thin sheet wrapped tightly around him, he remembers.

He gets glimpses of laughter and sunlight and fingers intertwined with his; of hushed whispers late at night, the words muffled to the point of unintelligible mumbling, like he’s listening from another room. He sees vivid moments of wild smiles and even more wild hair, and he aches.

These memories are buried with a grief that’s so deeply rooted inside of his chest that he can feel roots inertwining with the valves of his heart, threatening to burst out of him in blooms of blue and yellow. His lungs feel as though they’re about to collapse into themselves, which he realizes is because he’s not breathing.

Knows that when he does, he won’t be able to control what noise escapes.

He puts his hands over his mouth to muffle the overwhelming urge to sob, and finds that his cheeks are already damp with tears. His body heaves with the gasping breaths, he’s choking on the air that seems to be unable to get into his lungs.

And just as quickly as these moments of remembering come, they’re gone.

His body goes lax against his bed, arms falling limply to the sides; he’s dizzy with confusion as he continues to breathe heavily.

These moments afterwards are almost worse, because he doesn’t remember what took his breath away, and the more he grasps at the memories, the more they crack and crumble into dust and then into nothing. He’s left confused and bone tired with tear tracks beginning to dry uncomfortably on his cheeks, waiting for his breaths to even out.

I thought I'd redo my intro post and this time make it ✨pretty✨

I'm Cat [she/her | aroace] and I write sci-fi and fantasy with a dose of cosmic horror. I love mixing genres and general experimentation. Whether my work is marketable or not is less important than having fun. My absolute favorite things are found family, robots, and time travel, and I am a firm believer that platonic relationships can be just as fierce and important as romantic ones. Most of my novels are set within a shared universe I call the Starfish Saga and that's my main focus, though I do have quite a few exciting projects outside that.

I am quite shy but love making new writer friends and am open to tag games and ask games and other sorts of writerly socialization.

Dreams of the Spiral: a prelude to Records of the Spiral about the band Red Tape Rocket and the summer things got really weird (still being planned)

BL3 Remix/Siren Song Lore Post

I couldn't think of a better way to title this but basically this is the rewrite I've been working on for quite awhile and I think it's good enough to post

The majority of the story is somewhat still intact with a few key differences. (More under the cut)

Pre-BL3 

Angel ended up surviving the Control Core assault but was left in critical condition, Lilith helped with her recovery to the point that she became Angel's new mom.

The Calypso twins are not sirens, instead they are Eternals and decided to impersonate as siren's to trick the masses into joining their cult, going so far as covering their rashes with makeup and making fake siren tattoos.

Ava is instead the phaseleach siren and actually came to Pandora because of a strange voice telling her to.

(This would take place when she was 10, so 3 years before BL3's story took off.)

Maya ended up staying in Pandora instead of going back to Athenas since after giving some thought, Athenas maybe her birth home, but all she remembers is being sheltered for most of her life and being used as a threat.

Like in canon, Maya takes Ava in, but more as a daughter rather than just an apprentice.

Tannis is still a siren like in canon, however since Angel is still alive with her powers still intact, Tannis has a different ability rather than phaseshift.

(That being called Phasesight)

Borderlands 3

Pandora 1

The Calypso's did to ambush Lilith, however Tyreen leached her a lot longer than canon, to the point where Lilith was left in a coma 

Fiona is here. While rebuilding the raider, Vaughn recommended a few people he knew with one of them being Fiona and let's just say that she and Lilith became more than just allies.

Fiona was at first staying in Pandora, but after Lilith was attacked she didn't want to leave her side and force herself into the ship while also in complete hysteric 

Prometheus 

Lor’s character is slightly altered, mainly his aggressiveness is toned down and he's way less rude that how he is in canon (still a bit stressed though)

Sasha's here, Malawan believed that she'd disappeared but in reality she was in hiding sabotaging Malawan’s plans.

Athenas

Mostly the same in canon instead with Ava tagging along with the Vault Hunter's since Maya did promise her that she can do a mission as long as she keeps her tattoos hidden from the monks and she'd stick with the Vault Hunter's.

Maya refuses to even step foot on Athenas, she only left the ship when she found out how to open the Anchorhold.

Shortly before, she found out that she was never abandoned by her parents, but was kidnapped by Sophis.

Prometheus 2

The storyline is the same as canon up until the vault of the Rampager.

Troy attempted to leach Maya's powers, but failed miserably and was stop by one of the Vault Hunter's

Maya survived with her powers intact and only suffered a broken wrist.

Troy…wellllll….he ended up getting shot in the head by Moze, killing him instantly (at first...)

This was also when the raiders found out that the Calypso were Eternals.

Before all that, Maya was (attempting) to scold at Ava for putting herself in danger, but after Troy's attempt to kill Maya failed, his subsequent death and the twin's true status revealed, Ava bolted back to the ship and locked herself in her cabin.

Before she had tried to stop Ava, Maya noticed something that the kid dropped. It was a brand new Maliwan corrosive SMG with a note from Ava explaining that she was doing a little snooping and found both the blueprints and developers notes on said gun with the majority of the notes involving Maya's cloud kill ability.

What broke Maya’s heart the most was what's on the keychain ring, it was a tag that said To: Mom, Love ya🩵 From: Ava

This was the first time Ava called her mom…….and she felt like she'd ruined it……

After that, the rest of the BL2 vault hunters join Sanctuary lll and let's just say…..they were pissed.

There basically family at that point and if you go after family, your making it personal

While everyone is arguing on what to do if they came across Tyreen again, Krieg kept silent, brainstorming with himself on what to do with that rat boy's sister if he sees her again.

Due to what happened before, Maya was out of commission (both mentally and emotionally) for awhile

Eden-6

By the time of the Eden-6 arc, Tyreen used her powers to revive Troy (basically the unused Evil Troy design)

Aurelia is still working with the raiders and is undercover, joining the C.O.V to get more info.

Troy still has a weird thing for her but unlike canon……she's not interested in him and think he's a creep (that and she straight up told him that she's a lesbian)

Pandora 2

Prior to Tannis’s capture by the C.O.V, she and Fiona have started to become closer, Tannis also admits that while she's happy for Lilith and Fiona, she can't help but feel a little jealous.

Maya and Ava were able to reconcile, Maya even gave Ava her old Hellfire SMG, to which she was stoked about.

The boss battle with Troy ends a little differently, instead of dying he tries to leach one of the VH's but was instead leached by Ava, leaving him on the brink of death.

Before she fucked of to somewhere else, Tyreen leached what's left of Troy, so some part of him is still with her.

Nekrotefayo 

The raiders still meet Typhon, but instead of how it played out in canon, everyone stops seeing him in a good light not only after learning that he's the father of the Calypso's, but that he's the reason on why the twins act like that and how casually he talks about his shitty parenting.

Maya and Krieg hated him instantly, not only for the fact that the only thing that Typhon values about his late wife involved sex, but also talked about it in front of a 13 year old.

Tannis still admired Typhon at first, but she started to see the cracks and is now both embarrassed and disgusted at all the praise she gave him.

Lilith had since awoken from her coma and wanted to join the Vault Hunter's trip to Nekrotefayo, much to the displease of the other raiders.

And let's just say that it's taking every amount of her strength to not straight up kill Typhon.

The raiders then realized that Typhon was a huge liar and that he was never a vault hunter.

The vault on Nekrotefayo was already opened by the time he and his wife Leda arrived, the shit he said on his audio logs either never happened or were grossly exaggerated, but most damningly he stole Tannis’s research notes from her early days on Pandora and claimed that he open the vault of the Destroyer.

While Typhon was restraining Tyreen, something in Lilith snapped and……she ended up murdering Typhon…….

Pandora 3

From then on the storyline is the same as canon, up until the final cutscene where Lilith sacrifices herself after getting her powers back.

Instead of dying or going MIA, she survived thanks to the Watcher, but was gravely injured.

Once she has recovered, she announces that she's retiring and is making Maya the new leader of the Crimson Raiders.

Tyreen miraculously survived the battle. Everyone believes she's dead and she'd like to keep it that way.

its weird with long distance relationship, esp if u have severe trust issues and keep asking urself if ure good enough for them, if they might lose interest in u, or worse if I might lose interest in them— but the moment we start talking (after what weeks?) the whole conversation is me just heart eyes on the screen and smiling asf that I think ppl rlly could guess from a mile far that I looked like a puppy in love.

and they're not wrong. I'm genuinely happy to be with them and for them I deeply wish them the best and I have and always try to be the bestest friend and lover for them.

i have know this for long that as long as I can, I'll give my full support on them and give them the treatment they truly deserves. who knows what'll happen in the future: if we do stay together, or we break up again, or we stay friends, or something more— ik that I'll try to be there for them.

I've posted this on my insta yesterday but i also want to show my appreciation here—

To Dan, I know that the chance of me meeting you is nearly zero and I wouldn't get to thank him for creating ghostbusters & ray, but I still wanna say that, I thanked you decision to share your hyperfixation on the paranormals that inspires you to make this silly ghost movies because they now become my most favorite movie and I don't think any other can top these. Ray has just being the positive light in my life though I've only known you through the screens for two years and even then— he bring so much comfort and noted myself that I'm worth it. In ways I can't describe & deserving, thank you for making me felt loved and stay as my safe space in my down times.

❄️ Snow In Love Bingo - December Books ❄️

So I’m going to do a reading bingo! I did one last year for my friends birthday and it was lots of fun. I love lists, tasks, goals, and crossing tasks off of lists so I can meet goals so this is gonna be great! I’m doing good so far with 8 books read so I’m on track to finish on time. I don’t think any of the creators have a tumblr but if they do, I’ll definitely tag them!

Gifting Me To His Best Friend by Katee Robert - 3 stars. On the one hand, no one writes sex like Katee Robert. On the other hand, this took a sharp turn into the corny area because a novella is just too short to establish a proper ménage. I can’t believe I’m saying this but for once, it needed less sex. 🎄 Square Fill - Takes place on Christmas/Christmas Eve🎄

First Comes Like by Alisha Rai - 3 stars. This was a solid meh. The cat fishing aspect was handled well but everything else was boring. It felt like the first 80% was a prologue to the last 20% where they finally get married and bang, but then most of the plot should have gone AFTER they married. 🛌Square Fill - it’s low stakes, low heat, and they chill a lot 🛌

Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughn - 4 stars. Some of it really shows it’s age (r slur used by Alana, f slur used by a villain) and some of the drama between Alana and Marko feels a little contrived but I still had a lot of fun with this. The art is amazing, the character designs and conceptions are great, and the planets and species building is fun. 👩🏾‍❤️‍👨🏻Square Fill - Alana and Marko are married at the start of the series👩🏾‍❤️‍👨🏻

Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe - 5 stars. Just amazing and unique art and color work with a really interesting take on the Hades and Persephone myth and Olympus as a whole. It starts cute but the last few chapters get heavy with a date rape (done to Persephone but NOT by hades) and PTSD (due to Hades’ trauma over his dad, ya kno, eating him). 🌟Square Fill - it was recommended by two different people with wildly different taste🌟

Hani & Ishu’s Guide To Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar - 5 stars. This book felt like being hugged. It’s a great exploration of the complexities of bisexuality as well as culture, family, and friendship. Also the romance between Hani and Ishu is so well done and sweet. 💞Square Fill - features fake dating, there was only one bed, hand holding, mutual pining, and more💞

Boyfriend Marerial by Alexis Hall - 5 stars. A little meandering in the middle, but this was really good. Disaster Millennial Gay recruits a stuffy friend of a friend to help revitalize his image, catches feelings. Very funny, very witty, good romance. 📚Square Fill - got it from the Swoonies website📚

Beastly by Alex Flinn - 4.5 stars. This was laugh out loud hilarious. As far as a BATB story, I think Adrian/Kyle and Lindy are great, and I love how active the witch is in the book. I knocked it down because of a Magical Disability Cure, which I talked about more in my goodreads review if you care to read it. 🥊Square Fill - Lindy and Adrian banter/fight all the time🥊

Learn My Lesson by Katee Robert - 4.5 stars. Fixed almost all the issues with the first book. It felt like a retelling of Disney Hercules plus a smattering of other Greek gods. The ménage was very well developed as well. The issues were that Zeus as a villain was interchangeable with Aladdin and it’s still Weird about female bisexuality. 🏨Square Fill - for Hades weird sex dungeon hotel/club/underworld thing🏨

Zombie Au: Fallout 2077 lore: Acid Rain

I was talking with a choom about this, and was kind of just making some stuff up on the spot, since we're both really into this au, we were thinking of how the 'zombies' came to be, well.. 'zombies'.

Acid rain. Lemme explain.

They aren't technically "zombies", they are regular humans who when hit with the acid rain, experience an extreme case of cyberpsychosis. This form of cyberpsychosis is different however, in that when acid rain touches their skin, they go into a zombie like state. Their movements, depending on what stage of cyberpsychosis they are in, are either slower or quicker. Stage one 'zombies' are very slow, still partially human like, and can be saved. They aren't nearly as aggressive, but it's still best to steer clear from them, as being in such a state is still dangerous, and once you're in stage one, you have a very limited amount of time to be saved and treated. Stage two 'zombies' can no longer be saved. They are more aggressive, and when approached by anyone, will act will full force. They still cannot run, but are quicker in speed, and easy to catch up to anyone trying to escape them. They will cause injury, and can turn someone if not careful. Stage three is the most aggressive, and the most dangerous. They will go for the kill, they are incredibly fast pace, can climb, and crawl to catch up to their victims, if bitten or scratched, seek help immediately. You're on limited time. (By limited I mean minutes). Acid rain is nothing to play with. If you suspect acid rain, seek shelter immediately.

I headcanon that during Vaughn & Goro's adventures through the badlands, Goro realized he was immune. It's suspected that due to his implants being so advanced, as he was able to get them re-activated thanks for Vik, caused his immunity. However Vaughn is not immune. Seeking shelter is a lot more difficult in the badlands. They manage, but it's been a journey for sure. They mainly run into stage 1 'zombies', occasionally stage 2. They've never run into stage 3 baddies, and have no idea what they even look like.

Stage 3 remains somewhere in the shadows of NC.

Ok, so...

I really wanna write this, and so I shallllll

Borderlands 3 rewrite pitch

Vault of the destroyer key shows athenas instead of promethea

On the way claptrap or idc who, maybe maliwan screw up the flight and we crash on eden-6 the same time the family jewel does

Gaige and deathtrap are a part of B-team and are also helping in trying to free hammerlock

We fill in b-team on the scenario and they join in, if not all of b-team, just gaige

Gaige brings up how they could use some spare equipment for the ship (insert random ship component here)

Suggests we see axton

Axton joins along and comes aboard sanctuary with gaige (best buds)

Eden six arc goes on mostly unchanged otherwise, focus to get back in space is changed to "might as well do this vault since its here"

Also the eden six vault will have the rampager and maya wont die cus she isnt there and i guess gaige and DT could tag along to guide or somethin'

Tyreen takes the berserker's energy,

here, either the hunters get away as the twins banter or argue, or DT sacrifices himself for gaige and the hunters.

Athenas stufffff

Mostly the same, but instead it'll now be unsure as to why maliwan's run rampant

Mostly the same, they open the chest, get the key fragment, finds out its for promethea

*crew goes to promethea*

Maliwan acquisition occurring, "ah, so thaaaaats whyyy"

Tyreen butts into conversation

Reveals that they's motivated maliwan to do all this so as to show they hadnt screwed up just jakobs but maliwan and atlas too

But this time katagawa jr actually gets troy and tyreen onto the zanara, we think it'd be a good idea to get on there to kill all three at once, katagawa actually was gonna kill the calypsos, almost succeeds.

In the near death experience, tyreen tries to save herself, showing her lack of care of troy, straining relationship further, especially since the difficulties in eden six were shown earlier.

Calypsos escape, we escape zanara as it gets flooded with cov

It'll be graveward, since we know what the calypsos will do

Tannis has the trick

Lilith goes along to, by suggestion of maya

Major character death, i reckon lilith and it badly impact maya

Axton tries to fill leadership from then on out but does so with lighthearted positivity that isnt fitting and brings him down in the dumps with the rest of the crew too

-I feel like the rushed nature of the promethea conflict felt fast, not that it alone is a problem but after being capped off with maya's passing and followed up by cheerful callbacks to fan favorites in a slow reclamation thing on eden-6 feels weird, especially when nobody at all that knew maya from the sanctuary moment of silence onward reacts to maya's death.

-marcus and moxxi barely do anything in the story, why are they there

-The appearances from the planets like rhys, vaughn, loreli, zer0, hammerlock, wainwright, clay, and b-team all disappear once they're done getting help from you, you'd think even some of them would be interested in the whole great vault thing for one reason or another but no, they just evaporate.

-also why do the maliwan armies look so dahl/tediore, the only thing maliwan about them are their robots, multi element throwers and light travel tech.

Description: Ickarus is a 5′1′’ chubby man with a rounder face and glasses that are held together by tape and prayer. His brown hair is cut short and there’s a cowlick at the back of his head that can’t seem to be tamed, no matter what. He has dark brown eyes are wild and darting like he’s trying to absorb every little thing around him. His fingernails are bitten short and are usually painted an assortment of mismatched colors. He wears comfortable clothing, t-shirts and shorts if it’s warm, sweaters and jeans when it’s cold. He always wears his mother’s medallion around his neck and tucked under his shirt- the only thing he has left of her since she went missing.

Personality: Ick is an awkward man, prone to rambling about all sorts of random things and going off on mad tangents. He’s quite excitable but genuinely kind, even if he can be a bit overbearing to deal with. He’s obsessed with the supernatural, particularly alien abductions, conspiracy theories, and fairy lore, and on the internet he’s all over those kinds of forums under the name ickwiththebrokenglasses.

Background: Ick is the only child of Anderson and Iva Vaughn. A quiet child, Ick loved his mother’s stories of fairies and boogeymen and could listen to them for hours. Anderson and Iva divorced when Ick was only a few years old, and since his father was an on the road salesman, Iva had full custody with occasional visitation.

Ick graduated highschool at age 16 but ended up dropping out of college after a hazing ritual ended up with him with alcohol poisoning and broken ribs. He moved back in with his mother and made himself comfortable as a website designer, coding beginning as a hobby and moving up to a rather fruitful occupation. He wasn’t much of a social person in the outside world, but he found people to befriend through the internet, and that suited him just fine. His mother never judged the way he found happiness and even paid for his top surgery as his 25th birthday present.

A few months ago though, his mother left for work and disappeared into thin air. The last place she’d been seen was her favorite coffee shop, but she never got to the subway station she’d take and the library ended up calling Ick when she didn’t show up to work. The police became involved, but nothing came of it. Iva Vaughn had vanished. The unofficial ruling was that Iva, who had a history of mental illness, may have gone to the nearest bridge and jumped off.

Ick, obviously, could not accept this. After he moved in with his father, Ick started his own investigation. His mother had knowledge of things, things that went bump in the dark and moved in the shadows. His current theory is that one of those things got her, and he won’t rest until he finds the truth.
