I heard that Stanford had a kissing robot and held hands with a girl before but I can’t seem to find any info on that stuff? Is it a fan thing?

that's mostly in the swine before time stan commentary! but i'm pretty sure cathy was first mentioned in one of bill's codes in journal 3

i'll just paste the entire ford section of the commentary here (but you can see that stan gets some details messed up cos instead of her screaming at ford's hand he says that cathy poured punch on ford when that was the prom incident we see in tots instead)

Y’know, I suppose Sixer might be able to make some sorta drill that could get me back down to the dinosaur cave with some real attractions. Like his inventions always backfire, like (laughs) like this one time in high school, he’ll hate that i’m talking about this so, should I talk about this? Yeah, I’ll do it, okay. So this one time in high school, my brother, Stanford– well, it started out like this; so Fordsy had a fear of girls ever since Cathy Crenshaw got freaked out by his hand in third grade, uh, those of you listening, I’ve got a brother, he’s got six fingers. It’s kinda cool, he’s great at piano, y’know? He could do really cool like, shadow puppets but uh, in elementary school, kids could be cruel and uh, I guess it sorta traumatised him? He tried to hold a girl’s hand. She spilled punch on his head and ever since then he had a hard time talking to girls, unlike- unlike myself. That’s life. Anyway, cut to high school, the guy’s never kissed a girl, prom is coming up and he asked me for advice. “Stanley, I know things have been a little weird between you and me with college but can you talk to me about girls?” Um, and y’know, I said, uh “whatever you do, don’t be yourself. You’re gonna freak ‘em out. Act like me!” And so we tried for a couple of days, we actually traded places. He dressed up as me, I dressed up as him and I was hoping that would make the ladies flock to him. But instead he was ruining my reputation, right? Like he was destroying my game all over the place so we switched back. I said “you’re a hopeless case” and he, (laughs) his solution as he is wont to do was to build like a kissing practice robot, okay.  It was basically a mannequin head with a rubik’s cube for a mouth and a siren attached to its head that would go off if you were kissing it wrong. Like he read a bunch of Mom’s magazines for women about men and programmed that into the machine so the only way to get the siren to stop is for you to learn to kiss properly. Anyway, cut to all of us in gym class, the head falls out of his gym bag. The siren starts going off. The only way to stop the thing is for him to kiss it in front of the whole class! (laughs) Ah, man! Ha… he was still more popular than me. Not my fault. 

For a science fair, I asked Ford to help me invent a football throwing robot just to get someone to throw a football around with me. But, uh, Ford wouldn’t do it, he was mad about the whole Kissbot incident so I had to invent my own football throwing robot. Just duct tape a football to a toaster, call it Footbot. I mean, what’s a guy gotta do to get one game of catch with his old man? Right? Whatever, Whatever! Doesn’t matter!

like, it could be addressed as an idea that is raised and considered, but which Edelgard discards with Byleth's advice and support -- that would make sense! that would be coherent with the theme of the game! that Byleth is crucial to their chosen Lord maintaining hope and orientation in the chaos of the war! it would give us a chance to actually see Byleth meaningfully influencing Edelgard's path in the way she talks about!

but it never comes up, so we never do get to see that

a cute detail in haruka's room

This turned into a half-ramble half-headcanon post so I apologize for how messy it is lol

While watching undercover for the first time I noticed that there seems to be a sketchbook in Haruka's room, in which a colorful tree is drawn

Haruka seems to be hyperempathetic, and usually hyperempathetic people are quite artistic in their worldview and their hobbies, so I have a headcanon that Haruka likes to draw and/or paint, as a hobby and coping mechanism, a little escapism (especially since Haruka's no.1 coping mechanism with traumatic/stressful events seems to be denial—I'm going to elaborate on that in a different post because I've thought about that very, VERY often, and it partially explains why he acted the way he did in T2, to me) (I'm projecting a little bit because I kin Haruka and I'm a (hobbyist) artist myself but teehee)

When he was asked about his hobbies in his T1 interrogation, he just said he liked to talk to the other prisoners, but I think that's because he's insecure about his art being bad or unconventional (it looks like he used crayons or simple markers for the tree drawing. And also, the leaves are all different colors... perhaps I'm overanalyzing a simple scene, but it seemed to me that it's kinda symbolizing how he views & interacts with the world differently because of his neurodivergence. Still, the drawing is quite pretty imo, and he used the colors very well, so even though it's a tree with unusual colors, it still looks beautiful; even though he's different, it doesn't mean he's inferior, and there's still beauty despite how much he struggles to fit in. You know?)

Also also the way a lot of frames in weakness have hyper-realistic, vibrant backgrounds, as well as the blood being colorful (though that appears elsewhere too, like in Muu's MV) it really convinced me that Haruka sees the world through the lens of an artist, a passionate person who feels things very intensely.

Since the prisoners can request anything, I like to think Haruka secretly requested a sketchbook and some crayons to continue his hobby (I'm not sure if he can do that since it's unclear how the prisoners request & receive stuff (I'm a relatively new Milgram fan so I might've forgotten/not have seen an explanation if there's any ueueu))

I like to think he keeps his sketchbook to himself at first, but slowly opens up to the other prisoners about his hobby. First Fuuta and Mu, then maybe Mikoto, then the others (and they're all very nice to him & praise his art!!! Especially Mikoto I think. he would be very excited to see all of Haruka's art!!! Supportive big brother figure) :3c

pro tip: if you need to explain vocaloid (and im using it as a blanket term to vocal synths in general) to someone thats never heard of it before, introduce it as what it is as a product: digital midi instruments with character designs

avoids a lot of the confusion of people thinking miku is either a real person that can write songs, or a fictional character with a canon life and personality and a voice actress that sits in a booth and records songs written by her company

referring to vocaloids as fictional characters doesnt work because the way people outside of the community see fictional characters is completly different to what vocal synths actually are, fictional characters are parts of larger narratives, they have a life and a personality and goals and such, which is absolutely not the case for vocal synths, which ive noticed has been a major point of confusion to people every time i need to explain what kind of music i like to listen to

we are very used to blurring the line but vocaloid is an entirely different beast to regular fictional characters and needs to be introduced as its own concept entirely, and introducing it as in instrument implies it requires human input, which will also likely avoid the confusion with gen ai voice models

I’m proud of the words I wrote in 2024.

Few made it to publication, but that’s okay.

For starting tracking in November and knocking out 12.5k words in two months, on top of the 145k words written since I started in mid-‘23 (give or take), I consider that commendable.

To 2025 being full of more ideas, more exploration and more creativity. And maybe more publishing.

I might do more data analysis, but I’m one person and stats is not my forte. 😂

Goals for 2025:

100k words written (avg of 6,250/month)

Finish two long-fics (fanfic or original), publishing optional

I’m keeping it simple, but I’ll check in monthly (if I can remember) with updates.
