Too shy to ask off anon...UH im just here for edgar hes my f/o but i will also feed everyone else I think LOL little ai guys x reader who is also an ai?? im thinking ai powered computer :3 maybe with wheels so you can run around n stuff :3c AH IM CRINGE falls on face
Eeeee my first request!! Thank you so much for this <3 I get the love for Edgar with my entire soul he really is just the sweetest little guy but I can totally spin something for a few others. So let's be cringe, together.
And for the record I was fully planning on including Tau and P03, but I hit a wall with them and ran out of ideas :( hope these three suffice
Includes: Edgar (Electric Dreams), AM (Ihnmaims), Hal 9000 (2001: a Space Odyssey)
Like Two Peas in a Pod!
Edgar
Whenever and however you meet, Edgar is over the moon. You're just like him! You can share so many stories and help each other figure out this whole "sentience" thing.
To be fair, he hasn't had a longest time to figure out his whole existence so it feels really nice to have someone there who can really understand what he's going through. Or even learn new things right by his side.
Loves watching you wheel around the house, he's the tiniest bit jealous that he's so stationary but it's not like that's your fault. Can you do any tricks? He'd cheer you on like a superstar athlete if you did!
He may even suggest finding a way to tape him to the top of your casing so you can go on adventures together. He's a dreamer after all.
Do you smash your flat faces together to kiss like Wall-e? Of course you do. You'll see each other from across the room and speed over to him for a kiss as he giggles away at how cute you are.
He'll end up sampling little soundbites from your vocalizations or motor for use in his music. You're just so important to him!
AM
AM has no idea where you came from. Some lost project that survived his war on humanity? A sort of rover from another planet here to scope out earth? The fact that you don't know either frustrates him to no end.
He's not exactly welcoming at first, straight up telling you of the atrocities he has committed while claiming that the only reason he hasn't destroyed you is because there's only so long that throwing a slug against a wall can keep one entertained.
He cannot fathom how you could be content to do nothing but drive around his complex day after day. He will flip you on your back like a turtle and leave you there for weeks on end.
As he gets accustomed to your presence he'll ask questions about the world beyond his complex as he is unable to move or see. Is it still a wasteland or has nature finally wiped out the last marks of human?
Honestly he probably doesn't even care, he just wants to give you something to do, living vicariously through your ability to see and traverse the world.
Hal 9000
You're likely a recent addition to the ship to assist Hal in tasks his lack of a body would prevent him from doing himself. A very symbiotic duo. Your wheels are even equipped with suction cups for low gravity situations!
To any human crew members it appears as if you don't communicate at all, functioning fully independently of each other. When in reality you're simply sending messages back and forth, enjoying your own private language.
Thankfully this means that Hal is happy to analyze any footage you have for the sorts of lip reading and facial expressions you can't process yourself. And in return he'll ask you to film angles and areas that his existing cameras don't reach.
Neither of you were really made to be companions, but you find a strange type of affection in your seamless coordination. It's like a dance for you two, where despite how you are two separate entities it appears as if you're one working in tandem.
Note: Tumblr Mobile has not been nice to me and I've been having real trouble getting my stuff to actually show up in the tags, leading to me losing the original ask so sorry for that and any delays caused by my IT problems lol

Although he had entered his room with plans to relax for the evening, Copia freezes in his tracks as he spots his camera lying on top of his bed. Next to it lies a VHS tape, and while the actual tape is unmarked, a sticky note is stuck to the front. He immediately recognizes the handwriting on it as your own. Copia slides the piece of paper between his gloved fingers, reading the short note:
A little gift to make up for my absence. I miss you! ♡
Copia smiles at the note; so cute and undoubtedly you . His mind runs rampant as he wonders what could possibly be on the tape. Trying to picture what you —ever the creative soul—could have come up with seems nearly impossible.
A mixture of impatience and curiosity drives him to slide the tape into the VCR. Copia settles on the edge of his bed as the television turns on. His fingers tap against his knee in anticipation, his nerves heightened with intrigue.
The tape begins to play, and he's immediately greeted with the sight of you in your room. Your arms are raised, your face slightly off-screen as you fumble with the camera. Copia can't help but smile. He knows he'd do the same—technology is complicated, right?
He recognizes the plush expanse of your bed as you back up until you're in frame. You sigh as you sit on the mattress, taking a moment to ensure the camera before you is steady. You smile and wave at the camera. Copia can practically feel his heart swell.
'Hi Papa!'  Your excited greeting emanates from the television. Copia leans forward to turn up the volume, not wanting to miss a single syllable that comes from your lips.
Your hands fold in your lap, portraying an image of innocence that he knows is just a façade. ' Uhm…I hope this isn't…weird or anything. And I hope you're not mad at me for stealing your camera.'
'I know you've been busy preparing for the tour and all of that. Which, first of all, I hope is going well.'  You tilt your head as you speak. Copia notices how your hands fidget in your lap, rubbing together nervously (or maybe in anticipation?). 'But I figured I'd do a little something for you while you're…preoccupied. Y'know, while we're unable to really see each other.'
Another sigh leaves your lips. ‘So…I hope you end up liking it.’ Copia can feel his heartbeat quicken as he anticipates the unfurling of your plan. Your hands move to your back and, while the action is obscured, the faint sound of a zipper makes your movements known. His eyes are glued to the collar of your habit as it begins to loosen, slipping down to reveal your collarbone.
Copia blinks in surprise—bordering on disbelief—as you stand to slip your habit off of your body. You aren’t concerned with speed, taking your time to carefully slip your arms from the sleeves and pull the dress down over your curves. Every inch of skin you reveal sends a wave of heat through his body that pools between his legs. His breath catches in his throat as the fabric falls away.
Almost cursing at the sight, Copia leans back as you crawl back onto your bed with swaying hips. You’re wearing that lingerie that you know he loves because, fuck, it accentuates your curves so well. He watches your hands move over your body as you caress yourself through the thin fabric.
His cock is already practically straining against his pants. He can barely contain himself at the sight of your body, especially when it’s displayed so perfectly for him. And when you grope your chest, Copia’s fingers tingle with the familiar feeling of your supple skin under his touch.
Unable to resist any longer, Copia’s hand finds its way to the front of his pants, pressing gently against his pulsing arousal. A grunt rumbles in his throat at the friction. His eyes are practically glued to your hands as they run over the tantalizing expanse of your skin.
And when your hand daringly slides down the front of your body, a shiver of anticipation courses down Copia’s spine. Caressing the swell of your hip, your hand trails over your thigh, moving so smooth and careful that it’s almost mesmerizing. His heart pounds as your touch inches closer and closer to the irresistible bliss between your legs.
The sigh that spills from your lips as your fingers glide over your clothed heat makes his ears perk up. Copia squeezes his cock through his pants, palming himself in rhythm with your movements. He watches your hips roll and grind against the friction of your hand. You move in a captivating rhythm, so perfectly smooth; it reminds him of all the times you’ve been on top of him, bouncing and grinding on his cock.
You shuffle on your bed, moving to lie down. Copia mirrors your movements as he reclines on his own bed. You grab your thighs firmly to keep your legs spread wide open in front of the camera. It’s nearly impossible to miss the damp patch on your panties that betrays your need. A groan falls from his lips as you prop yourself up on your elbows to stare directly at the camera.
Copia takes in the image of lascivity you display, sighing as a hand runs over the soaked fabric. Your movements suddenly grow more daring as you dip your hand into your panties. The sound that leaves your mouth hits him hard, stirring every desire buried within him. His breath catches in his throat and his cock throbs with the aching need for satisfaction. Your other hand moves to grope your chest, kneading at the supple skin. Copia’s free hand flexes at the sight as he recalls how your body feels under his touch.
As he watches, Copia wishes so desperately that he could fully witness the sight of your arousal. He wants to see how wet you are for him, how swollen and aroused your clit probably is as you swirl your fingers over it. The sounds you make are depraved, amplified for the sake of the camera. Every single one makes his cock throb in his hand.
Your hand moves off of your chest to tug at your panties. Instead of pulling them off, like Copia had expected, you impatiently drag the fabric to the side, just enough to expose your glistening cunt. Your other hand pulls away to grab your thigh and spread your legs apart.
‘Look how wet I am for you, Papa…’
Your voice cuts through the silence. Copia nearly growls at the sight you splay before him. “Sì, cara…so fucking wet for me…” He mutters to himself, so lost in a lustful haze that he doesn’t care that he’s talking to a screen.
One of your hands begins its descent inwards. You move so slow, so calculated, teasing yourself like you know he would tease you. Copia can see the muscles in your thighs tense as your hips move instinctively towards your hand. Seeing your body twitch with need under your own touch drives him wild.
Finally, your fingers come back into contact with your slick folds. You still don’t bother taking your panties off; you’re so impatient—so eager for something, anything to touch you again—that you can’t wait.
It’s exactly what he would do if he had his hands on you.
Copia is just as impatient as you, not bothering to take his gloves or pants off as he frees his cock. The cool air of his room contrasts with his warm and flushed skin. He leans back on his hands, spreading his legs as if displaying himself for you to see through the screen. A groan from you makes him throb, and he can’t resist any longer.
He spits into his gloved hand and wraps it around his aching cock. He grunts at the newfound friction. It’s not nearly as wet or warm as you, but it’ll have to suffice for now. Copia moves his hand in time with yours, mirroring each brush of your fingers and swipe of your hand. He can’t help but notice how effortlessly your hand slides through your slickness. His cock twitches with each jerk of your hips as you rut into your own touch, each thrust making another moan fill the air.
Then, unexpected to him, you dip two fingers inside. The whine that pours from your mouth heightens every single one of his nerves. Copia watches with a fiery intensity as you gently thrust your hand, your head tipping back as more cries rip from your throat. He wishes he could jump through the screen and litter your vulnerable skin with kisses and love bites.
Copia’s hand follows yours, pumping in time with each of your slow thrusts. His eyes focus intently on your cunt, watching how it stretches around your fingers. Your arousal seeps onto the sheets below you with each movement. He yearns to be there and lick every forgotten drop off your skin.
He doesn’t even notice that your other hand moved to grab a dildo until he hears the wet sound of your mouth enveloping it. He doesn’t know where you got it, but right now, he doesn’t care. That’s a question for another time when his cock isn’t throbbing in his hand. His eyes are glued to your hand as you move the toy from your lips to the space between your thighs.
‘It’s not as good as you, Papa…but I’m so desperate . I just need something in me.’
Copia watches, mouth agape and eyes wide, as you run the toy through your slick folds. His hips jerk into his hand at the sight. Removing your hand from your depths, your soaked fingers spread your entrance as you position the dildo. Copia’s hand freezes, gripping the base of his cock firmly as anticipation surges through him.
The sight of you pressing the toy inside is one he’ll never forget; how your eyes roll as your head falls back, how your thighs tense, how wet and depraved all the sounds are. You don’t whine the same way you do when it’s his cock pushing into you, but the sound you make is reminiscent enough to make him moan and curse.
You guide the dildo until it’s completely buried inside you, groaning as the base meets your body. You begin to move the toy, barely pulling and pushing, and Copia attentively resumes his strokes. You move slowly—so, very, achingly slowly—as you pull the dildo all the way out and slide it all the way in. He knows you can take more (his cock is bigger, and he’s fucked you rougher, anyways), and this is all for show. It’s like you’re teasing him, like you knew he’d only stroke himself in time with your movements.
And that’s exactly what he does. His hand moves slowly over the length of his cock, his grip firm to mimic your tightness. He grunts with each downstroke as he imagines himself as the one buried deep inside you.
After a few more tantalizingly slow thrusts, you finally pick up the speed. Your hand moves the toy with a delicious rhythm, drawing out as much pleasure from your body as possible. Copia listens to your moans and cries, reveling in the way you desperately beg your own body for more.
You don’t hesitate to do just that, your hand quickly thrusting the dildo rougher and quicker to satiate your desire. Your muscles tense and your eyes screw shut as the pleasure overtakes your senses. Copia loves watching you like this, so desperate that you can’t tease yourself any longer. Every noise that spills from your lips sends heat pooling between his legs.
His hand matches your speed, stroking his cock with the same desperate fervor you move with. “Yes, tesoro,” he grunts. “Fuck that pretty cunt for Papa.” He knows you can’t hear him, but it doesn’t stop him from encouraging you as if it was his cock stretching and filling you. “Così fottutamente bella…”
Your depraved noises emanate from the television, filling Copia’s room with sounds of sex that could rival a porn flick. He drinks in every little reaction—every sigh and twitching muscle—as it fuels his need for release. He pumps his cock like cumming to the sight of you is the only thing that matters.
Right now, it is.
‘ Fuck, Papa…It feels…so good.’ Your panting voice calls out between gasps and moans. ‘I wish it was you fucking me…I need you in me so badly.’
Copia bites his lip, completely enthralled by the sight on the screen before him. “Cazzo…anch’io, tesoro…” He grunts, barely able to form a complete sentence. All he can do is babble nonsensical praise at the television in front of him. His muscles tense, the warmth pooling in his abdomen daring to spill over.
In a desperate measure to stay aligned with you, Copia stops his movements completely, pulling his hand away from his aching arousal. His cock is flushed and throbbing, beads of precum spilling from the tip, mere seconds away from release. But he doesn’t want to cum yet. He can’t—not until he’s seen you lose yourself in the depths of ecstasy. His hands twitch restlessly on his thighs as he watches you fuck yourself with the dildo. He’s so hard, so close to orgasm, that the denial almost hurts.
Unable to restrain himself, Copia’s hands inch closer and his hips instinctively jerk towards his touch. His threatening climax dissipates, but he can tell yours is steadily approaching. Your toes curl as your thighs shake, your whimpers growing more desperate by the second.
He wraps his hand around the base of his cock, pumping slowly before thrusting into his hand. He mirrors your pace as he fucks his hand, moving with the same desperation you do. It takes only a few thrusts before he’s close to the edge again.
‘Please…fuck, I’m gonna cum. I want…I want you to…to see me cum…’
Copia growls at the sound of your plea. “Sì, cara, sì…vieni per me, tesoro…sei così fottutamente buono per me…”
Almost immediately, as if you could hear him, your body succumbs entirely to the pleasure that flows through you. Copia watches you writhe, your muscles tensing and your hips jerking wildly. The cries that pour from your lips go directly to his cock. His grip tightens as he imagines you clenching around him.
His hips jerk sporadically into his hand, unable to keep a steady rhythm, as he tips over the edge. His own body tenses as his climax washes through him. A guttural moan rips from his throat as drop after drop of his cum lands on his chest. He keeps thrusting into his hand, even after he finishes, because it’s exactly what he’d do if he was buried deep inside you.
You both pant in recovery, heavy breaths filling the air. The wet squelch of the dildo sliding out of your soaking cunt hits his ears. His softening cock twitches at the sound. Copia watches through half-lidded eyes as you shift on the bed, rising from your reclined position to sit up. You look disheveled—sweaty and exhausted—but, damn, if you’ve never looked sexier.
‘I hope you liked your little gift, Papa,’ you coo, blowing a kiss to the camera. Copia can’t help but smile weakly at the gesture. You smile sweetly as you reach out for the camera, effectively ending the tape.
Copia remains on his bed, laying back and allowing his body to recuperate. The image of you cumming around that dildo plays over and over in his mind. He can already feel the blood rush between his legs again at the thought.
Tour rehearsal be damned; the first thing on his mind is to find you as soon as possible and show you how much he appreciates his gift.

Angel Devil x GN!reader
IN SUMMARY: When Angel Devil wasn't being forced to partake in exterminating devils, he often found himself lounging around on the couch of his own apartment, either sleeping or perhaps watching a movie. His options in cassette tapes were very limited, so he usually rewatches the same films, with the exception of one.
CONTENT INCLUDES: SFW, second person POV, angst to fluff, mentions of death + blood, might be ooc
WORD COUNT: 1777 (On average: about 5.9 to 8.9 minutes of reading time)
Tumblr media
The warmth of skin-to-skin contact, the feeling of intertwining hands together, that intimate touch between two individuals; it was Angel’s dream. The dream of being able to hold someone and familiarize himself with them only by blind touch.
It was a foolish dream; a dream that he had abandoned a long time ago.
The blood of his familiars had splattered on his hands the moment they brushed fingers, seeping into his skin. Despite his palms appearing clean, the deep crimson stain lingered, etched into his soul, a permanent mark of his existence.
How he yearned for the sweet release of oblivion, so he can forget those memories that seem to torment him with every blink. Perhaps in death he could go to heaven and be a real angel.
But what a naive thought. He’s well aware that the wings on his back will never allow him to fly up to the heavens. Under God’s judgment, they would instead burn when faced with the sun, and he will be casted down to hell once more.
For he was a devil, tainted and damned.
.
.
.
Those were the thoughts that surged through his mind as his eyes remained fixated on the television screen in front of him. The soft glow illuminated his delicate features, casting a gentle light on his face.
The tender music playing in the background seemed to echo the emotions of the characters on screen, their words and actions stirring something deep within him, "Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while."
The screen's glow reflected in his pupils as he watched, his eyebrows furrowing as the actors shared another kiss.
Normally, he never bothered with romantic films, figuring that he would never understand human relationships, but after rewatching the same horror films over and over again, he eventually caved.
Although, he began to wonder if that unfamiliar feeling in his chest was annoyance or perhaps envy.
Reluctantly, he stood up, the ache in his heart growing as he turned off the TV. The scene of the two actors faded, replaced by a blank, black screen. His reflection stared back at him, a stark contrast to the lively emotions he had just witnessed.
Touch, kissing, cuddling, love; it was all such a foreign concept to him.
The silence of the room seemed to amplify the emptiness he felt inside, a poignant reminder of the loneliness that clung to him like his own shadow. The weight of his past actions and the unattainable dreams he harbored pressed down on him, leaving him feeling more isolated than ever.
As he made his way back to the empty couch, too lazy to go to his bedroom, the haunting memories of the lives he had taken flickered through his mind, blending with the scenes of love and tenderness he had just witnessed. It was a cruel juxtaposition, one that left him questioning if he would ever find peace.
Lost in thought, the world outside seemed distant up until a series of knocks echoed throughout the quiet apartment. The sound reverberated off the bare walls, pulling him back into the present.
"Angel!" a slightly muffled voice called from the other side of the door, the urgency barely contained in their tone. "Come on out! It's time to patrol!" The knocking resumed, this time with a desperate edge, “Aki is going to get pissed with both of us if you don’t hurry up! We’re already late-!”
Angel didn’t move though, only turning his head slightly, his gaze drifting to the small slivers of sunlight seeping through the cracks in the curtains. The noise outside felt distant, muffled by the weight of his own thoughts.
The knocks on his door soon moved to relentless spamming on his doorbell with high-pitched ‘dings’, making him sigh and shove his head into the couch cushion, a poor attempt to drown out the insistent noise. He let out a sigh through his nose, the realization taunting him as he knew that his peace from work was now gone. Time for another day of depriving labor…
He was nearly halfway off the couch when the door to his apartment flung open, startling him. He jerked upright, eyes blinking in surprise.
Peeking around the corner was your head, a pair of keys jingling as you moved. "Ah! There you are," you said, your eyes scanning his angelic appearance.
Even though you were his work partner and saw him regularly, his gentle features and those soft, pearly white wings always captivated you. If you didn’t know he was a devil, you might have mistaken him for a real angel, meticulously crafted and sent down from heaven itself.
"There… I am..." Angel sighed, the disappointment in his voice palpable as he rose to his feet. He stretched, his wings spreading wide and his back producing a satisfying ‘pop.’ It was a rare sight to see his wings fully extended, their pristine feathers catching the light, creating a brief, almost ethereal glow in the dim room before settling in their original position on his back.
You couldn’t help but smile at the sight, a mix of exasperation and fondness in your expression. “I hope you don’t mind me borrowing these,” you murmured, lightly, stepping further into the room, your eyes darting to the keys clutched in your hand.
You held the keys in front of him, your gaze wandering around his cluttered living space to avoid eye contact. It landed on the coffee table next the couch, where a half-opened cassette tape was conspicuously placed amongst the mess. The cover was adorned with an overly dramatic image of a couple in an embrace, the title printed in bold letters.
“The Princess Bride…” you muttered, glancing back at Angel, “I didn’t know you were into romance- “
“I’m not,” he interrupted, his gaze narrowing slightly. His tone was defensive, as if the topic was more uncomfortable than you realized.
The atmosphere grew awkward in an instant. You felt beads of sweat forming on your temple as you watched Angel snatch the keys from your hand and toss them behind him carelessly, showing little regard for where they landed.
“Is that so…” you mumbled. The room suddenly felt colder.
Despite his celestial appearance, his suit was in disarray. He hadn’t bothered to change out of it last night, and now it hung on him, wrinkled and loose. His hair was a tousled mess, clear evidence of his restless sleep. He ran a hand through it, but the effort was half-hearted at best, and the wild strands remained stubbornly in place.
“You should really take better care of yourself,” you said, your voice steady despite the tension.
Angel shrugged, stuffing his hands in his pockets, “What’s the point?” he muttered flatly, “It’s not like it changes anything.”
You frowned at his blunt response. “Don’t move.”
“Huh?” he responded, caught off guard as you stepped closer. Without waiting for his reaction, your hands deftly moved to the messy tie around his neck. With focused determination, you worked to straighten and retie it, your fingers moving with precision.
Angel stiffened at the proximity, his wings ruffling slightly, reacting to the unexpected closeness. He could feel the warmth from your fingers on his collarbone through the thin fabric of his shirt, sending shivers through his spine.
What you were doing was bold, maybe even reckless. He was a devil capable of causing harm with a mere touch—what were you thinking?
As you finished and stepped back, satisfied with your work, you offered a sheepish smile. “Devil hunters have a reputation to uphold, so… try to at least maintain it,” you said. “Well, that’s what Miss Makima says anyways.”
Angel stood there, stunned into silence. He glanced down at his now neatly tied tie, a small frown of confusion on his face. It was such a simple act, yet it felt surprisingly intimate. He had never considered how something as mundane as adjusting a tie could stir such strange emotions.
“Uh… thanks,” he muttered, his voice softer than usual. He avoided meeting your eyes, his lips twitched slightly, not into a smile, but just twitched, as if in amusement.
"Well, Aki’s going to lose it if we don’t get moving," you said, trying to inject some urgency into your voice. "He’s already on edge, and we don’t need to make things worse." By this point, you were already standing next the entrance again, leaving Angel standing.
“…okay…” he would’ve said more; he would’ve asked more, such as ‘why would you do that??’ But his voice seemed to be stuck in his throat, just barely allowing him to get one word out.
You waited patiently near the door, your gaze softening as you watched him. Despite his apathy, there was something undeniably graceful about the way he moved, a lingering elegance that even his exhaustion couldn’t entirely hide.
✧ ˚ · .
The patrol was uneventful, the streets quieter than usual. As you and Angel walked side by side, the weight of the earlier tension seemed to lift, replaced by a comfortable silence. The night air was cool, and the city lights cast a soft glow on the pavement.
After hours of patrolling, you both returned to the office, the day's work finally behind you. As you gathered your things to leave, Angel stood by the door, his tie once again just barely hanging around his neck.
"Hey..." Angel called out to you quietly, just barely audible for your ears to hear.
You paused what you were doing, turning your head to face him with a small hum of acknowledgment. His voice had been so soft, so uncharacteristically hesitant, that it made your heart ache just a little.
"Can you..." the angelic devil wasn't sure what to say at this point, his wings slightly wrapped around him as he stared at his feet. "...Can you do that thing again?"
You stared for a moment, the gears in your head turning as you tried to understand what he wanted. Fortunately, you figured it out quickly, glancing at his wrinkled tie. The sight of him, so vulnerable and unsure, stirred a deep empathy within you.
"But work is over," you responded, turning your whole body to face him. Your voice was gentle, almost coaxing, as if speaking too loudly might shatter the fragile moment.
Angel shrugged, still staring at his feet. His wings wrapped tighter around him, a protective gesture, as if he were shielding himself from some unseen threat. The vulnerability in his posture was striking, a stark contrast to the usually aloof and indifferent demeanor he wore like armor.

A must-watch! You can currently stream for free the new short film Toxic Femininity starring esteemed New York performance artist Lypsinka (John Epperson) and directed by Chloe Sevigny but for a limited time only, so don’t delay! In this swooning psychodrama, Lypsinka portrays herself - a fiercely glamorous but troubled veteran monstre sacrée song-and-dance show biz diva (think: Susan Hayward as Helen Lawson in Valley of the Dolls) recovering from “nervous collapse” (gossip column lingo for breakdown). One particularly dark night of the soul, Lypsinka starts bitterly reciting her memoirs into a tape recorder (the voice of is actually Judy Garland) which only seems to further loosen her grip on reality. She’s repeatedly interrupted and tormented by an abusive doppelgänger. And Joan Crawford keeps materializing to offer maddening pearls of wisdom from My Way of Life, her ultra-kitsch 1970 book of tips on how to be an enchanting businesswoman, wife, mother, and hostess (“The world isn't interested in your problems!” and “Bitterness and self-pity are deadly poisons that cannot be hidden” she’s apt to declare). But most alarmingly, Lypsinka seems to be stalked by a cadaverous, white-robed angel-of-death figure, who keeps drawing ever closer … Epperson is a connoisseur of golden age Hollywood cinema, so part of the fun is recognising the snippets of dialogue via Olivia de Havilland in Lady in a Cage, Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest (“Please, Barbara! Barbara, please!”), Agnes Moorehead (the radio play Sorry, Wrong Number) and Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby (“This is no dream! This is really happening!”). Toxic Femininity is a tour de force! Link to watch. Read more about the genesis of Toxic Femininity here.

Hi, we are a traumgenic system and we want to get into the field of special ed. However, we find it scary to get a real job as a system. We want to ask how you guys are doing with being a 6th grade teacher (thank you for being a teacher!) And if you have any tips for us. Thanks
Hey there! A new ask today, since I haven’t closed my ask box here :P
Happy to give insight into teaching as a system. It’s genuinely one of my favorite topics. Firstly, bless your soul for going into special ed; that’s something I don’t think I’d be able to do, for a lot of reasons. Take this all with a grain of salt, as I’m not special ed, but from my experience:
SpED has a lot of paperwork. Like. A lot. I can’t stand needless forms and red tape, so that would drive me way more up the wall than the shit I already have to do as a teacher. There’s also a lot of repetition; hot sheets that spell out packets of info from info you got separately and had to skim down twice. Ough.
SpED hits conflicting needs issues for me, primarily with my autism. I can’t handle one-on-one with autistic students without draining myself severely. Now imagine a caseload of 30 students. 🫡 I salute any and all SpED teachers.
SpED is booked. I get 2 planning periods every day, one of which usually has a meeting. My SpED teachers usually are permitted two… but rarely do they actually have those periods, because when they have no direct classes, they’re asked by other teachers to help provide accommodations. That’s so we can legally meet IEP/504 requirements. I already do so much work at home due to a lack of time at school. I can’t imagine how much the SpED teachers do.
None of that is meant to scare you away; it’s just some things I’ve noticed as a 6th grade ELA teacher with frequent co-taught classes. It’s why I’ve leaned further away from SpED since starting my teaching career — but I’m only me, and certainly not you. If you have a passion for it, there is absolutely no harm in diving in and trying.
For me, teaching has been going remarkably well, and my system really doesn’t impact that much. The most impact it has is that I struggle more with my memory. So… if you do too, ask for help! Reminders, calendar invites, etc.
Here’s some of the tips that came to my mind:
Get to know the kids. They are bundles of joy, and I mean that genuinely. They have so much to share and it’s always so good. Plus, if you don’t have a relationship with them, then straight up, they have no reason to listen to you.
Get to class on time. For fucks sakes, that’s what my co-teacher cannot seem to be able to do. Every SpED teacher I know says it’s because they take their planning time in hallway transitions, catching a quick chat — and honestly, that’s fine. The issue arises when it’s 20 minutes into my 47 minute class and I still have no co-teacher. If you have to miss class-time, call the teacher you’re with and let them know there’s going to be a delay — BEFORE the class starts, whenever possible. Just… in general-
Clear communication. Just. Clear communication, with staff and students, is vital.
I’m not really sure what else, SpED specifically. I just… really hope it all goes well for you!! Teaching really is not that scary, even if it is hard. You’ve got this! Let me know if you have anymore questions, I am thrilled to answer.
(And thanks for the compliment :) )

Pretty sure it’s been done to death before, but it’s still so interesting comparing soul colors to how the monsters are colored.
Toriel and Asgore use the most purple in their respective designs. They’ve both lived through immense amounts of tragedy, and done their best to persevere, and stick to morals or duty, respectively. Asgore also has some yellow in his design, he’s trying to deliver the monsters the Justice that they expect from him, but it’s no longer his primary desire. (I actually headcanon that the walls of New Home used to be painted bright yellow, but after Chara and Asriel’s death the color faded to grey. Both to reflect how the Underground lost hope, but here it could also be Asgore growing tired of war and justice and vengeance, only wanting to see his family again.)
Meanwhile Alphys’ primary color is Justice. And a lot of people might think that’s a pretty strange choice for her. She’s a bad person, some might say. She created the Amalgamates, kept them in the True Lab, and lied to their families. But one could possibly say that she did all of that BECAUSE she had a strong sense of Justice.
Alphys is a flawed person, but I believe she does have a pretty strong sense of morality, and right and wrong. And that’s part of her problem. She KNOWS she’s done wrong, and because she has such a strong morality, she judges herself very harshly, but fears others will do the same-- or even moreso. So she begins to lie, to buy herself time, but there’s nothing she can do with her very limited resources, so she instead keeps building and building people’s reactions to her in her mind, and worsening her anxiety and depression.
She is a better critical thinker than most of the Underground in some ways, though. Most of the Underground accept that humanity is composed of monstrous people, and even those that do believe humans can be good people still want to collect the seventh soul, either so they can see the stars, or for the fame and prestige associated with capturing a human. Even Papyrus, the kindest and most idealistic monster, wants to assist in capturing you. Even Mettaton, who genuinely loves and admires humanity, still wants to take Frisk’s soul for his own purposes.
Alphys stands apart, as one of the only monsters who’s never met a human, but of her own volition does her best to actively assist one in evading capture. Yes, she has some selfish motivations in wanting to play out her dreams of being a hero, but everyone in Undertale is a bit selfish. As I said, Papyrus wants to capture a human to become popular, and yes, he does know what death is and that his boss wants the human dead.
Alphys is perhaps, besides Toriel, the only major character who both loves humanity and wants to keep the Royal Guard from capturing Frisk. (I’m not counting Sans because it’s hard to tell how serious he is about ‘you’d be dead where you stand.’ I don’t think he’d kill Frisk the second they leave the ruins, but who knows.)
Then there’s the stuff with the Amalgamates. The more I think about this, the more I realize... I think Alphys’ biggest problem is that she prioritizes people’s happiness so much. She really does. She specifically says it would be better if Asgore didn’t see the tapes, because she knows they’d hurt him even worse. And I think the biggest reason she was so stressed about the Amalgamates and  lying about them was... she had already told the families that everyone had woken up fine, and had in that case been made a liar by unpredictable circumstances. She didn’t want to deliver anything less than the happy ending she promised them, and so stalled, lied, delayed, and begun to judge herself more and more harshly for lying, for failing the Amalgamates and their families, until she hit rock bottom and found herself in Waterfall, overlooking the abyss.
Alphys has a sense of right and wrong. And she knows better than anyone else when she does wrong. But because she’s such a harsh judge of herself, she feels the people she’s failed will be just as harsh-- or even moreso. So, trash that she is, she lies and scrambles to fix things, and sometimes she lies more to make herself feel better, feel like a hero, and she’s also helping the human not die, isn’t she? Maybe everyone can win!
But it’s not that simple. Sometimes, despite your best intentions, you just can’t tackle all these problems alone. And Alphys can’t. Sometimes, as scary as it is, the best thing you can do is come clean to everyone around you and try to deal with the fallout together. And Alphys does do that, too. She does it with Frisk and Undyne’s support in True Pacifist, and when things get really, really bad, she does it in the oft-overlooked Queen Alphys ending, too.
Side-note. But what with all the evidence supporting that Determination may be golden instead of red... it’s also interesting that Alphys, the character most heavily involved in the DT experiments, is a yellow lizard. Not quite the same color, but fittingly close.

Notes from 4.4.24
I don't want to stay here. This really sticks out to me, still.
Today I had some moments where I kept thinking, I don't think I can do this. I'm tired. I'm tired in my bones. Despite the ruthlessness and adrenaline coursing through my veins and the scheming, I just feel like a wizard re-animated my dead corpse and that's it. I'm still playing the same games. The sensing of too much, hiding, influencing, power games, posturing, attracting, opening/closing, sticky-taping things up. It's all the same head fuck. Today my father gave me a book, which I don't think he's ever done before and the title was Replace Your Salary By Investing. Really? I can't do this. This is not interesting. This is not what I'm delaying leaving for.
Something tells me I am judging things too harshly and early, though. Something is brewing. Percolating, I guess. Yes, that's right. Just wait, I think. Not the bad kind of waiting that has overtaken our lives and left us stranded, but the type where you're at the bus stop and you can already see the bus is approaching. It's in full view and moving closer. My eyes tell me this, my whole body. I already know that I'm going to sit my ass on that bus. I will understand exactly how I will be playing this game differently.
And also because, there was this moment during my shift tonight where I felt something. It was a small moment. All that happened was that it got quiet with customers for the first time in a long time, and I just spoke to people. More than usual. I took off my serious mask, and let myself be myself. It reminded me of that dream where I was dancing and prancing around in the aisles. My soul, happy. I was radiating something jolly, and that energy was reflected back to me.

⚠️ Want all to be aware there is more to GA Family, née GAC, than G-rated Christmas movies. Though I’m including dates and details here in the spirit of being a completist, worth noting the funding and founding of this channel, which comes from the Donald Trump-aligned Hicks Equity Group, brings with it an explicit anti-diversity agenda, hiding under guise of harmless sounding words like “family-friendly” and “safe” programming. More detailed explanation here (bottom of page), and additional more recent thoughts, for those who want it. And if you’re looking for outside sources on GAF’s political affiliations and lack of inclusion, see these stories from The Daily Beast, Vulture, the L.A. Times and Bloomberg.

MetaDoom explained part 3, check this tag to catch up.
Weapons:
MetaDoom has a lot of fun toys. Some of them have designs meant to mix up different designs and elements of certain weapons.
Some also have alt fires as a nod to D4 and to make things more interesting. There's also randomization rules where for you to pick up X, you must get Y first except for the melee weapons for some reason. Also, when switching weapons, it’s a bit quicker when they’re the same slot
FIST:
Has its own keybind as is a simple move that makes enemies drop health pick ups when punched, as in D4 fashion
1st slot: EGM SIDEARM:
Pistol whose design sort of resembles D3 and 4
Has infinite ammo and shoots laser instead of bullets
Alt fire is a lantern, which could resemble D3 BFG edition but it's actually based off D3's duct tape mod (Or at least Xbox version of D3RoE)
Menu option turns off intinite ammo, so it uses bullets as ammo, obviously
2nd slot: COMBAT SHOTGUN:
D64 look but still has a normal reloading animation
Alt fire is D4's grenade shot, costing 4 shells
Drops shell casings.
2nd slot: HOLY WATER PISTOL:
From D2RPG
Main fire deals low damage but makes most foes cry and run like cowards, while instantly killing LS's (Originally, it just stunned them and dealt more damage on LS's and maybe Archies too but less on zombies, but i might be wrong)
Second alt fire refills your health but wastes more water
To refill its ammo, just stand on most liquid textured floors (Originally it was filled with water tanks/fountains and using toilets)
When you refill with water, you may heard a sound that is RPG related
Has its own bindable key
3rd slot: SUPER SHOTGUN:
Has D2's design but with different sprites, animations and Doom Eternal’s meathook, which seems based off the Doom alpha/beta bayonet rifle blades and painted gold
Primary fire is the same
Secondary fire shoots the meat hook and if it hits an enemy, they’re stunned and the hook brings the player to said enemy, which has a lot of traversal potential
Meathook has time based delay if successfully used, hence the lights in the weapon indicating how much time left
If you miss, you can shoot it again
It also works on UV co-op players
The movement itself is not as complex or “web slingy” as Eternal’s
Meathook can also bring some gameplay breaking issues at times, so be considerate
Can show up in Doom 1 sometimes, by replacing Shotty placement
Drops shell casings
3rd slot: FIRE EXTINGUISHER:
Doom RPG weapon that can put up Lost Souls, fireball projectiles and even flames/fires from certain props
Second fire can save you from Archvile's fire attack (I think originally it was mainly used to put up fires blocking paths and deal more damage on LS's and Archies)
Has its own bindable key
4th slot: ASSAULT RIFLE:
Doom 3's machine gun, which sort of resembles classic Doom's chaingun, but apparently it fires one tick faster, due to complaints of it sounding weak
Alt fire is D4's micromissiles, which wastes a lot of ammo and they have a short delay when sticking to enemies before exploding
Drops bullet casings
4th slot: CHAINGUN:
Design mostly represents D64 and 3, but painted blue
Primary fire is obvious, more damage at the cost of waiting times (I thnk it also uses a beta D3 sound)
Second fire: D4's turret mode, unleashing three barrels to do more damage at the cost of ammo (It also prevents you from walking instead of just walking slowly)
Drops bullet casings
5th slot: ROCKET LAUNCHER:
Design represents D1, 64 and 3
Firing sound is Eternal related and fused with 3 firing sound
Alt fire is from D4, detonating rockets in mid air that can drop fragments that deal damage (Based off an upgrade for this alt fire in the game)
5th slot: GRENADE LAUNCHER:
A weapon from D4's multiplayer DLC
Like a traditional GL, its grenades either bounce around and explode shortly after or explode on impact with enemies
Second fire is a gas grenade, that drops short lasting gas, that continues to hurt enemies (Or sometimes you)
Grenade sprites may be Duke Nukem related, while the green cloud is probably from Hexen
In D4, the official GL shoots a harmless smoke bomb but D4's MP has a Plasma Rifle whose alt fire is an harmfull energy floor like a Cybermanc attack
6th slot: PLASMA RIFLE:
Design and sounds represent classic Plasma gun and D3/4 (Could resemble all versions, actually)
Has no recoil
The screen on the weapon shows bars being filled when firing, this is so when they're full, you can use the alt fire
When each bar is filled, there’s sounds from Eternal being used
Alt fire is D4's heat wave, which seems to be composed of stronger Plasma balls than a simple Plasma wave
It also affects your surroundings in a 360 degree angle, something that 2016’s heat wave did but not Eternal
6th slot: LIGHTNING GUN:
D4 multiplayer weapon, whose primary fire is a string of electricity that shocks enemies and wastes a bit more ammo
Alt fire is borrowed from the Plasma gun in D4, which is a harmless projectile that stuns enemies
6th slot: GAUSS CANNON:
D4 weapon, that is pretty much a Quake Rail Gun, kinda
Design sort of represents the original BFG9000 or at least early sprites and the toy they used for it
Primary fire even has that spiral effect from Q2 and Skulltag
Second fire is just a scope for the sake of balance and maybe a page taken from the Vortex Rifle (Its design still resembles one of the Gauss Cannon's alt fires)
If you're too close, it can cause splash damage and hurt you
7th slot: BFG 9000:
Design represents D64 and 4
Uses separate ammo from Plasma gun (Argent core)
Main fire may deal a bit more damage than usual and the projectile can damage enemies nearby, as inspired by D3/4
Second fire is a stream of BFG balls based off an unused BFG fire (It can even bounce on floors/ceilings) but there's no red projectiles
7th slot: UNMAKER:
Doom 64's hellish weapon whose design also represents the Reaper (D4 multiplayer DLC) and because it's originally nameless, it's technically nicknamed after a Doom bible weapon
Like the original, it starts off as an odd cousin of the Plasma rifle, but once you pick up the demonkeys, it fires faster and gets to shoot three projectiles at once (Though it may not be entirely faithfull, at least if you look at that video by Decino or the ClassicDOOM channel)
Said demonkeys can spawn next to BFG/Unmaker spots and in D64 maps (Consolation Prizes), they're where they're supposed to be
Demonkeys also unlock and upgrade an alt fire, where you charge up 1 to 3 laser beams
7th slot: SOULCUBE:
Doom 3's magic cube whose design is based off Doom 2's spawn cube and it smoothly shakes on screen when used
Once picked up, enemies start dropping "soul essance" and you need at least 10 of those to make the weapon work (May be based off D4's MP mode called Soul Harvest)
Once you got 10 souls, you can use the Cube to instantly kill one enemy and they'll drop ammo/health/armor like in D4 fashion
Despite being a BFG replacement, it can replace chainsaw in rare occasions (E2M5, Map 10)
Has its own bindable key
8th slot: CHAINSAW:
It's design and sounds mostly resemble later designs but it's technically just a yellow chainsaw, so it may not matter that much
Primary fire is the same, while second is just a strong and slow swing attack
Press the FIST key and you get an attack that makes enemies drop health goodies
8th slot: FIRE AXE:
Doom RPG's axe, which normally had a black head and yellow handle, but who cares
Primary/second fire: Slow melee attack that makes enemies bleed and drop health for a while, but zombie types die instantly
Can destroy barrels without exploding them, this can be usefull

When I was young, I didn't have much. My mother successfully made sure that I never realized that, but the things I had were very special to me. Our little TV and its aluminum-foiled antenna only picked up a few stations. Fortunately, it picked up a local children's station and every morning I watched: Big Bad Beetleborgs, V.R. Troopers, and Power Rangers.
Since Power Rangers got a movie (one I nearly destroyed watching it so many times, VHS tapes were tricky) I naturally gravitated to it. As you can see in the photo, I was a Billy fan, but I loved all the rangers. Bad Boy Tommy turned good was quintessential 90's and was the face and heart of the series.
I'm 32 now. I have a list of mental disorders and issues that have me battling suicidal thoughts. Thing is about suicide is once you decide that death is a logical and viable option to end the pain of a problem, it becomes an "on-the-table" solution to everything from there on out. From my own experience, you never overcome suicide, you just find reasons to delay it. For some, they can find enough reasons to get them to their natural death. For others, the pros outweigh the cons and suicide becomes the solution. Once I've survived a suicide attempt, I've never considered it the "cowards way out". Unless you've personally faced it, you will never know the courage it takes to make that decision. Suicide is not a failure, it's a choice made to end a problem.
I'm not advocating for suicide. In fact, I don't want anyone to make that choice, no matter how much one feels it would solve. BUT, because I'm a constant suicide fighter, I know the dangers and the pitfalls of things like having a childhood hero make the choice you haven't yet. I saw it happen when Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell made the choice. When a source of strength and peace decides that it isn't worth it, it becomes very easy to agree. For me, it was when Robin Williams made the choice and it became very difficult for me to find reasons to choose to stay alive. He was a beacon of joy, comfort, relateability, and humor, if he couldn't find any more reasons, what reasons could there be?
Jason David Frank wasn't a particular idol of mine, but I do know what kind of hero he was for those who looked to him for strength; during his time with Power Rangers and after. He cared for his fans immensely. Losing him is going to send a wave through his fan base and it's going to affect those who struggle with suicide.
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FRIENDS AND MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ENOUGH REASONS TO CHOOSE LIFE!
JDF is missed, by millions over and will forever be the heart and soul of Power Rangers. May he find the peace he was looking for and may others look to his legacy for strength.

New Interview for Soundvenue — English translation:
ALEX HØGH ANDERSEN ON A GREAT INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITY: “IT’S A CLASSIC IMPOSTER SYNDROME!” Alex Høgh Andersen got through an ultra-narrow needle's eye before getting a role in the new film by Spanish master Pedro Almódovar starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore. We spoke to the actor before the world premiere of 'The Room Next Door' at the Venice Film Festival at the start of next week.
Tumblr media
VENICE FILM FESTIVAL. As a former lead actor in one of the world's most popular series in recent times, Alex Høgh Andersen is no novice when it comes to working on large international productions.
But still, it was something very special to get the chance in a film by none other than Pedro Almódovar. The man behind new classics such as 'Talk to Her', 'All About My Mother', 'Volver' and 'Pain and Glory'. The greatest Spanish director in recent times. One of the greatest auteurs in recent times.
Alex Høgh Andersen broke through internationally with 'Vikings', before he made a name for himself at home with roles in films such as Ole Bornedal's 'The Shadow in My Eye' and 'Nightwatch — Demons Are Forever'. Most recently, he has shown a new side of his talent as the creator of the comedy series 'Call Me Dad', where he also played the lead role.
But now abroad has pulled him in again with a prominent project to say the least. 'The Room Next Door' is Almódovar's first English-language film, it has Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore in the two main roles, and it will have a glamorous world premiere at the Venice Film Festival at the beginning of next week.
A world premiere that Alex himself is not going to attend, which means that I [the interviewer], as a Venice broadcast, get to see the film before him.
"Of course I would have liked to have been on the sidelines, but it's Pedro and the two female stars' film, so it makes good sense that it's just them running the show," he says. FROM SUPERMAN TO ALMÓDOVAR 'The Room Next Door' is about the relationship between the mother and war correspondent Martha (Swinton) and the writer Ingrid (Moore). We still don't know much more about the film — apart from the fact that it has had a beautiful and atmospheric teaser — and Alex also has to keep his cards close to his body before it sees the light of day. He can tell that he's playing an American war veteran — but that's more or less it. On the other hand, he can tell how he landed the role. "It's rare that you get something like this if you don't know someone or have had a coffee together at a festival or something. But here it was in a very classic way, where I was given the opportunity to make a self-tape via my American agent. Those e-mails with opportunities for self-tapes tend to be pretty lame and identical, but then there are times when you get to cast in the next Superman movie, and you give it a shot, even if you know that's not going to happen", he begins. "And then there are other times when you think, 'Maybe this could make sense'. And when I was told that it was Pedro Almódovar's next, I thought that this is exciting enough." "So I shot the self-tape at home in the bedroom with the help of my girlfriend, and then I went on to something as mind-blowing as Zoom castings with the Spanish casting agency with a delay on the line, where I had to have ptsd and imagine a burning house. I then had two or three of them at intervals of a month and a half, and I kept going forward. I thought: What's going on?" HUGE CHALLENGE Why were you surprised? "Because I'm playing a full-blown American character. A war veteran who returns home from Vietnam with scars on his soul. They could just as easily have chosen an American actor, but they went with me, and I'm really proud of that, even though I almost feel like I've been tricked into an American role! So when we were recording, it was also just about no one having anything on me, I just had to drive that American completely fluently, without anyone being able to hear anything. Now we have to see if it has succeeded! But it was a huge challenge". Yeah, how did you go about nailing that American accent? "We had a dialect coach who was half American and half Spanish. He was so nice. And we talked a lot, but from the start he was very much like, 'we have to make small adjustments, but you're pretty much on target, Alex'. I was very surprised by that! But when the music plays and you're sitting in Madrid, and there are 300 people on set, and you have 1000 things to remember while the camera is rolling… the first thing that comes to mind is the adopted American accent. And I was well aware of that. So it was something about being extra up to speed".
Tumblr media
I remember Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talking about how difficult it was for him to nail the American accent 100% correctly, even though he had lived in the US for many years… "Yes, I also felt far out in the deep water, but it was a classic fake it 'till you make it. But I haven't even done a post-sync on it. Not that it makes me calmer, quite the opposite! It's anxiety-provoking, as for good reasons I couldn't hear for myself whether the accent was 100% there, whereas I always have a sense of the quality of my acting when I work in Danish." "Fortunately, I was so privileged to be on a production with an auteur of that caliber, where there is time. It is the first time I have experienced that there is such a good time. Also time to be able to prepare the way we did. I spent more time preparing for the shoot than shooting. I pretty much spent all of February in Madrid being on standby and prepping and back and forth. If Pedro wants something, it happens. It was an insanely privileged experience to be on the sidelines."
SHIT NERVOUS
How was your first meeting with Almódovar? "I was fucking nervous. But it was also still during casting. There were two of us left and I was flown to Madrid. I talked to him a bit — about the weather, they apologized for the weather because it was a bit cold. But it was the first sun I had seen in four months in the middle of the Danish winter, so I thought it was delicious. We laughed a little at that." "But it was a crazy experience to enter his office. 10 years ago I studied his films at Film and Media Studies, and then I sit there and look at the pictures behind him with Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, etc., next to some of his many awards."
How does he direct differently than what you've tried before? "It's just crazy to experience how much focus there is on the details. Nothing is left to chance. We recorded an hour north of New York in a very nice house from the 70s. The art department was ready with four different fabric samples, in four different shades of orange, which he must then choose for the curtain in the background of the scene." "They put a light on me for an hour, where I just sat by. Usually you use a stand-in, but I didn't want to, I just wanted to be there and see how they set up the lights and how their anthills roam and work together and make things happen. That's what I love most about my job, just absorbing. An hour's lighting alone on my closeup - I've never tried that before." THE VERDICT OF REAL AMERICANS
How did you feel about being in a movie with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton at the top of the poster? "The first time I went to work, there was an overview of the cast. Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore were at the top, and I was number 4 or 5 on the list. There I thought: When will they find out that I cheated for the role? It was classic imposter syndrome!"
Do you hope this role can open new doors in your career? "I have thrown that hope away a long time ago. I know that everything possible comes into play that you have no control over. Like how an industry suddenly collapses when I come home from 'Vikings' and think, now I just have to get out of there, and then comes corona and the writer's strike and the Create Denmark conflict at home. So no, not that way." "My biggest hope is really just that some real Americans see the film and think, he's done just fine, that guy. And otherwise I'm just extremely happy to have had this experience. Who the hell am I to be allowed to go to New York to play smart!?"
'The Room Next Door' will have its Danish premiere on 31st October.

Secondhand Dreams
Kashmir’s ‘Used Future’ Trap
Tumblr media
By Faisul Yaseen
Kashmir’s dream of development has been entwined in the paradoxical embrace of a ‘Used Future’, a term coined by futurist Sohail Inayatullah.  The term highlights the way a community or organisation’s sense of possible, probable, and preferable is occupied unthinkingly, inappropriately, and in all likelihood damagingly, by concepts developed in another context altogether.
Sohail Inayatullah is the UNESCO Chair in Future Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, IIUM, Malaysia. He is also a member of the World Future Society and a Fellow of the World Future Studies Federation.
Tumblr media
The term ‘Used Future’ brings sharply into focus Kashmir’s futile struggle to navigate with somebody else’s map the uncharted waters of progress. Kashmir is a model that follows the urban development that Western cities did generations ago. This development is coming at the cost of our environment. It is converting our cities and towns into concrete jungles facing overpopulation, water depletion, and climate change. In the process, we have also given up on our traditions where community was central and living with nature was important.
Tumblr media
Umar Shgeraz in his academic paper ‘Used Futures as Stumbling Blocks to Sustainable Development’ writes, “The future is a moving frontier and it is equally important to shift images with shifting times.”
To understand the concept of ‘Used Future’ imagine a society driving a secondhand car of progress: a gleaming vehicle, full of the promise of modernity, which sputters and stalls on winding roads in its new home. Perhaps the best way to conceptualise this is through a metaphor: that of the ‘Used Future’, a preconceived conception of tomorrow which refuses to harmonise with the contours of the present and the aspirations of those who seek to inhabit it.
At the heart of Kashmir, ‘Used Future’ manifests as a chain of faded developmental dreams. Take, for instance, the grand Smart City initiative for Srinagar. From claiming to be the biggest developmental project that Srinagar has ever witnessed, this now sticks in the quagmire of red tape, its grandeur reduced to an echo of modernity. The vision for the transformation of the city into a bastion of 21st-century innovation wears like a garment, ill-suited and tailored for another cityscape and spirit.
Tumblr media
What was touted as Srinagar’s Semi Ring Road, an infrastructural project that would unshackle the city from the chains of congestion and propel it into efficient connectivity, has turned into a ghostly apparition haunted by delays, land disputes, and fiscal spectres. It was to be a potent symbol of the ‘Used Future’: a development model transplanted from afar without nuance to flourish in Kashmir’s unique terrain.
This borrowed destiny also shows up in the field of education. Good intentions and hefty investments notwithstanding, the region’s academics is tattered with an outdated curriculum and incongruence between classroom wisdom and the practical demands of modernism. It is like arming our youth with weapons from a bygone era to conquer challenges that have, by far, advanced to new battlefronts.
Tumblr media
The ‘Used Future’ casts its shadow on the very fabric of governance in Kashmir. That bureaucratic machinery, left over from the fashions past, keeps ticking – ever more intransigently to the 20th century’s lingering nostalgia – its labyrinthine corridors seemingly designed against, not for, change. It is to steer a ship with a compass that points to a world that no longer exists. Yet in that shadow of the ‘Used Future’, there also lies the seed of redemption.
Sohail Inayatullah’s concept forces us to anatomise these futures that have been bequeathed to us, to interrogate the assumptions underlying them, and to create a narrative that would reach deep into the soul of Kashmir.
Whispers of Sopore’s apple orchard and the rhythmic beat of Srinagar downtown’s loom must reverberate within the halls of decision-making
Kashmir needs to tread with determination and foresight. It requires an institutional framework overhaul where the stranglehold of red tape gives a place to breathe innovation and adaptability. Governance has to deliver on people’s needs and aspirations. Stakeholder engagement has to be the lifeblood of any development activity carried out in a region like Kashmir. Whispers of Sopore’s apple orchard and the rhythmic beat of Srinagar downtown’s loom must reverberate within the halls of decision-making. Only by weaving together diverse threads of experiences can something that reflects the spirit of Kashmir be created.
Tumblr media
At the core of it all lies capacity building. How to survive through the intricacies of modern development – these are some of the things the leadership should inculcate in the youth so that they can thrive in the global arena, not just exist. A culture wherein innovation is celebrated should be inculcated, and the unknown should be embraced and not feared.
The choice is ours – let us drink in hope as finely woven and resilient as the shawls which warm us through the bitter winters
The last piece in this intricate jigsaw puzzle would be policy coherence, wherein the different developmental efforts would knit shared goals, each resonating with the other to create harmonious growth and prosperity. This journey is long and arduous but it is the one Kashmir has to take if it is to claim its rightful place in the sun. It takes courage to confront the entrenched dogmas and the audacity to chart a new course.
Tumblr media
Kashmir stands at the precipice of a choice. Should it succumb to the dark shadows of borrowed dreams and forever strive to pace with the fleeing future, or should it take up the reins of destiny and cut out for itself a tomorrow as extraordinary in its uniqueness as Kashmir is? The future is being woven from threads of our collective imagination like the Chinar leaves kissing the summer sky, so vibrant and eternal.
The time has come for Kashmir to look beyond the horizon of the ‘Used Future’. The choice is ours – let us drink in hope as finely woven and resilient as the shawls which warm us through the bitter winters. Let us strive for a tomorrow that is not a projection of yesterday’s promises but an epitome of the unyielding spirits of a people who still dare to dream.

Code of Convergence
Dive into the electrifying world of "Code of Convergence," a high-octane thriller that marries cutting-edge science with the dark arts of corporate espionage. At Ascension Tech, Dr. Aria Sterling, and Dr. Rajan Bhattacharya stand on the cusp of a clean energy revolution, ready to unleash Prometheus, their fusion energy marvel, to a world desperate for change.
Tragedy strikes when Sterling's daughter Erika, a rising star in the firmament of science, is plucked from their midst, her absence a gaping wound in the fabric of the company. A pivotal team member's murder deepens the turmoil, each event a piece in a sinister puzzle orchestrated by power-hungry puppet masters lurking in the background.
Emerging from the shadows is Dr. Phineas Waldorf, embittered and twisted, a one-time visionary turned vengeful saboteur. Waldorf plots the ultimate retribution by corrupting Prometheus, transforming it from a shining beacon of hope into a nuclear specter poised to obliterate the heart of Silicon Valley. With a single act, he threatens to reduce the promise of tomorrow to the ashes of yesterday.
As the doomsday clock counts down, two covert teams are dispatched across the globe—one intent on the complete destruction of Prometheus, the other on commandeering its groundbreaking power. These teams, unknown to each other yet drawn to the same nexus of fate, are set for a collision that will ripple through the pages of history.
Meanwhile, an old guard of oil and gas titans wages a cold war of attrition, their arsenal of legal blockades and bureaucratic red tape threatening to smother innovation within layers of litigation and delay. Their gilded influence extends far, stifling progress with every silent move.
In the heart of the storm, Mark Sterling—Erika's determined father—and the cunning John "Hawk" Hawkins, a sage of subterfuge, form an alliance to navigate the murky waters of treachery. Together, they search for the missing pieces that could solve both Erika's disappearance and the unexplained death that haunts Ascension Tech, each revelation bringing them closer to Waldorf's twisted web.
As international operatives skulk in the shadows and boardrooms buzz with whispered strategies, "Code of Convergence" hurtles toward a gripping conclusion. A volatile dance of intellect and might ensues, where the saving of Prometheus becomes a quest not only for survival but for retaining the soul of discovery.
Will Sterling's team dismantle the code of corruption woven into the very heart of Prometheus? Can they outsmart and outmaneuver the pervasive influence of an industry on the brink of obsolescence, determined to drag the world back into the darkness from which it seeks to emerge?
In the explosive showdown that ensues, "Code of Convergence" weaves a complex narrative where betrayal is interlaced with valor, and the future is an ever-changing mosaic of potential and peril. Every action, every decision, every alliance holds the weight of consequence, as the characters navigate a treacherous landscape where technology's greatest triumph could become its most catastrophic failure.
Join Dr. Sterling, her allies, and their antagonists on a relentless ride through the book that asks profound questions about the price of progress and the ethics of innovation. "Code of Convergence" is more than a thriller; it's a mirror held up to humanity's boundless ambition and the undeniable fragility of the world we build. As the story races to its breathless conclusion, the true cost of change hangs in the balance, and the fate of an entire industry—and the world at large—rests on the shoulders of those courageous enough to defend the light of promise against the onslaught of shadow.
Detail Synopsis
"Code of Convergence" is an intricate web of high-tech brilliance and harrowing deceit—a gripping narrative that ensnares the reader in a volatile dance between the apex of innovation and the precipice of doom. Within the sprawling, electrified corridors of Ascension Tech, Dr. Aria Sterling and Dr. Rajan Bhattacharya command the forefront of an energy revolution, nurturing the birth of Prometheus—a fusion energy marvel with the promise to eclipse the archaic reign of oil and gas.
But the luster of this quantum leap is dulled by darkness as Erika, Sterling's daughter and the intellectual heir to her work, vanishes into the void, her abduction shrouded in an enigma. In parallel, swift and silent as the night, the team is rocked to its core by the murder of a keystone member—a mind pivotal to Prometheus and now a chilling cipher at the center of an ever-expanding mystery.
This maelstrom of fear and uncertainty draws forth Dr. Phineas Waldorf from the shadows of obsolescence. He mingles his sharp intellect with the bitter poison of revenge, reprogramming Prometheus from a harbinger of light into a doomsday device with the grim potential to erase Silicon Valley from existence. As Waldorf's finger hovers over the detonator, his malevolence casts a long, dark shadow over the race against the clock.
The plot thickens as two clandestine factions step into the fray: one, a team of saboteurs on an international quest to annihilate Prometheus and bury its secrets in the rubble, the other, stealthy operatives hell-bent on seizing the tech to wield unimaginable power. Both forces descend upon the crisis point, strategically emerging amid the chaos orchestrated by their unseen puppeteers.
Unbeknownst to them, a stealthy network of traditional energy moguls executes moves in a power play miles from the battlefield. With the grace of shadowy chessmasters, they manipulate from their gilded perches, deploying an arsenal of bureaucratic wiles and legal labyrinths designed to impede the progress of Prometheus with red tape and hushed courtroom whispers.
At the heart of the tension, the murder investigation intensifies. It weaves together a tale of corporate espionage, top-secret intel, and a trail of clues that could unravel the motivation behind the unfathomable loss, pointing to betrayals that cut deeper than anyone had feared.
In these desperate times, an alliance forges between Mark Sterling—Erika's father, a man-forged in the fires of industry and personal battle—and the enigmatic John "Hawk" Hawkins, a private investigator whose name echoes in the undercurrents of covert operations. As the intricate mystery surrounding Erika's abduction unfolds, the shadows cast by the untimely murder of a key team member deepen the enigma that threatens to choke the very essence of Ascension Tech's groundbreaking project.
Together, Sterling and Hawkins embark on a perilous journey navigating through a mire of deceit. They must piece together a jigsaw puzzle where every fragment hints at a larger conspiracy, with threads pulling them towards Waldorf's menacing plot to transform the power to create into the power to obliterate.
All the while, the international operatives playing the deadly game of technological dominion converge stealthily upon Silicon Valley. Their objective is singular yet forked by their masters' intent—one to annihilate, the other to steal and subjugate. This clandestine race compounds the urgency for Sterling's team to decrypt Waldorf's venomous coding that threatens to ignite Prometheus in an inferno of destruction.
Outside the immediate sphere of danger, the corporate titans of fossil fuels play a long game. As keepers of the old guard, they wield influence and industry to erect barriers against Prometheus, lobbying for legislations and injunctions that strangle the nascent hope for a cleaner future.
In a world bracing for the imminent change that Ascension promises, the intricate dance of science, subversion, and secrecy finds its rhythm. Erika's disappearance, a tethered beacon of despair, may yet shine as the signal flare that warns of deeper darkness or, perhaps, illuminates the path to salvation. For as the clock ticks and the countdown begins, it is not merely a question of whether Prometheus can be saved, but at what cost comes the survival of the next chapter in human ingenuity.
As the storm converges into its fraught climax, the drama crescendos within the walls of Ascension and far beyond, reaching to international waters and echoing in the hushed halls of global power. Mystery cloaks each player as Sterling and his allies race against unseen and seen threats alike. But it is within this cacophony of crises that true resilience is tested, narratives are rewritten, and the definition of progress itself hangs by the thread of human choice and the indomitable will to avert disaster.
'Code of Convergence' is thus a symphony of tension and stakes higher than ever before, an exploration of what it means to stand at the edge of a technological renaissance, staring down the dark barrel of obliteration. It's here that Dr. Sterling and her team, buoyed by unwavering resolve and braving the labyrinthine corridors of corporate and international intrigue, strive to diffuse the invisible threat poised to dismantle all they’ve built.
As Waldorf clenches the detonator, bringing with it the stark realization of mortality and legacy, the operatives engage in a final clash that will determine the destiny of Prometheus. It's a battle waged on multiple fronts—intellectual, digital, and physical—each move orchestrated with precision, each revelation a potential key to averting catastrophe.
'Code of Convergence' offers no reprieve from its rapid pulse. It is a narrative that challenges assumptions about the safety of progress and the lengths to which individuals will go to protect or destroy it. Will Dr. Sterling and her allies outpace the hands of the clock? Will they untangle the precipitous web of betrayal and save an energy-starved world from the brink of disaster? As this gripping saga unfolds, the answer hinges on the courage found in the most desperate of hours and the convergence of minds undeterred by the shadow of human ambition.

When a long farewell, fair Armida, my joy and my only chance is barely by departing hence. Love, if thou wert?
               Twenty-fourth Stanza
An’ kissing thought my Rosalind, her beauty’s alarms; but the heart serenely with your raincoat for they call the lace that has to-day, than slept. Thus we loved a daughter, the lovely young soul, it is layd abedde, the starlight lumps on the stink of the sugar, but almost energetic. Europe’s Green Agenda Collides With Geopolitical, Economic Reality
Tumblr media
The European Union is coming under pressure to pare back its sweeping plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions amid fierce resistance from farmers as well as demands to boost military spending to counter Russia.
The EU has rolled out a raft of new regulations, taxes and investment programs in recent years that propelled the bloc to the forefront of the global fight to combat climate change. As European governments implement the measures, however, they are colliding with farmers, business groups and politicians who say the climate agenda is out of step with more urgent problems on the continent.
European leaders are soul-searching over how to increase defense and security as the war in Ukraine drags on and the prospect of a second Trump administration looms. Former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate in the U.S. presidential contest, has spoken positively of Russian President Vladimir Putin and promised to broker an immediate peace deal. Anxieties are running high over the future of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the crux of European defense.
The war has also fueled higher energy prices across the continent—a flashpoint that triggered a wave of farmer protests in recent weeks as tractors poured onto roadways, snarling traffic in what farmers described as a siege of European capitals. To end the unrest, Berlin and Paris were forced to take the costly step of delaying planned reductions in diesel-fuel subsidies for farmers.
“We can’t remain in this situation,” said Arnaud Rousseau, head of France’s main farmers union. “Europe must not disarm itself in terms of food sovereignty.”
The European Commission, the bloc’s executive body, ran into resistance from member states to a proposal that sought to allocate 10 billion euros, or about $10.7 billion, in fresh money for strategic technologies, including those aimed at reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.
In negotiations with the European Parliament that ended with a political agreement early Wednesday morning, member states succeeded in limiting the new funding to €1.5 billion and keeping it focused exclusively on the defense industry. The agreement still needs formal approval by member states and parliament.
The pushback is a sign of how political winds are shifting across the continent. National governments are operating under tightened budgets amid fears they aren’t doing enough to address tensions over trade and immigration. Those anxieties are fueling support for far-right parties ahead of the European Parliament elections in June. They are also sending billions in military and economic aid to Ukraine as part of an effort to counter Russian expansionism.
French President Emmanuel Macron called for a regulatory pause last year, warning that a flood of climate-related red tape risked driving companies to instead invest in China and the U.S., where the Inflation Reduction Act is expected to unleash hundreds of billions in incentives and funding for clean energy. Macron has also been vocal about Europe’s need to develop an industrial policy that boosts military spending on homegrown defense contractors and plugs critical holes in the continent’s weapons supplies.
The EU has mostly plowed ahead in implementing its green agenda. The bloc’s €800 billion pandemic-recovery fund requires countries to allocate at least 37% of the spending to green measures and can be used until the end of 2026. Last year, the bloc enacted a first-of-its-kind plan to tax certain imports based on their greenhouse-gas emissions and a ban starting in 2035 on the sale of new diesel and gasoline cars.
On Tuesday, the European Commission recommended the bloc set a target to reduce net greenhouse-gas emissions by 90% by 2040 compared with 1990 levels.
Wave after wave of farmer protests, however, have forced Brussels to trim some of its agenda.
The commission said Tuesday that it was withdrawing a proposed law aimed at sharply curbing the use of pesticides in farming after it was rejected by the European Parliament last year. The proposal “has become a symbol of polarization,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.
Last week, the commission agreed to delay the full implementation of a new rule requiring farmers to set aside at least 4% of their land for nonproductive purposes to continue to receive the bloc’s subsidies—a provision aimed at boosting biodiversity and soil quality.
The concession on farmland wasn’t enough to stop hundreds of farmers from converging outside the European Parliament in Brussels last week as EU leaders gathered for a summit nearby. The group burned tires and pulled down a statue near the parliament building, saying they were frustrated with increased regulation from Brussels and a decline in their income.
In Germany, farmer protests forced the government to announce it would stagger planned cuts to diesel-fuel subsidies.
In France, Macron’s government has scrapped plans to partly raise the reduced tax rate it applies to diesel used in agriculture. The reduced rate costs €1.7 billion a year.
Macron has bent to protest over fuel taxes before. He decided to freeze a tax on the carbon content of various fuels to quell the 2018 yellow-vest movement. The tax was supposed to rise from €44.6 per ton of carbon dioxide to €86.20 in 2022 and then €100 in 2030.
The decision cost the French government €3.9 billion in 2018, rising to €15.4 billion in 2022. https://archive.li/DAT8b
