Hi Pia.
I'm curious; do you think Mallory and Mount is going to be as 'epic' or as complex as Fae tales Verse?
And do you mind sharing some of it's worldbuilding with us?
Hi anon!
Mallory & Mount will have more complex building than the Fae Tales Verse, because it's not set on earth at all. It has different names for the days of the week, the months of the year, and its currency system is different, for a start. It has different festivals per different culture. It has new species of dog, and tree, and bird, for example (though some are recognisably based on dogs and trees and birds we have here).
It won't be as epic in some ways however because the characters aren't fae, so their stories can't stretch across decades in the same way. They can't heal from the same bombastic ridiculous injuries. They can't go and literally die and then literally come back from the dead because a Mage sacrificed some of her lifespan to save someone. In fact many of the characters have chronic illnesses and disabilities.
And it won't be as long, I don't think. The length of Fae Tales is now daunting to many new readers. So I don't really want to write a series that long again.
It will definitely be epic in other ways though! There are definitely life and death stakes, a lot of dangers, and big potentially morality destroying decisions on the line.
There's a metric fuckton of worldbuilding that has gone into the Mallory & Mount world, enough that I have a 150+ page private Wiki about it complete with hyperlinks. I'm going to share one file lol:
Blaubaas: Horse
A heavy drafthorse originating in Skemmerlicht and also found in Donwall, who often trade blaubass for the Whytefern draft. Blaubass means 'blue boss.'
They are blue-to-black drafthorses with a heavy winter coat, suited for mountaineering, difficult journeys and sled-pulling. They are slow but determined and weather dock-work well, and do not stain as badly as the Whytefern draft. Frugal and economical on food, and survives well on horsebread.
Function: Crate and stock pulling, carriages, heavy transport, mountain passes, cold weather journeys.
-
I know it's not that interesting, anon, but I really don't want to reveal any spoilers yet, and I'm worried I will. You can always check out the mandm tag for more about the world itself.

🩺 sup squadfam? 27fem drug back into my grey's anatomy era (tysm FB shorts) so i'm on my hands and knees begging for the mcdreamy to my mcsteamy except original characters please ✨ basically gimme a classic i'm in love with my bestfriend trope but make it angsty and dramatic and toxic af. i have so very many thoughts i'd be happy to work out in dms or over discord.
i consider myself semi to advanced literate. preferred length 3-4 paragraphs. aside from starters no novella please i'm Too old and busy, it would take me 9 years to respond and i'll lose interest/get intimidated sorry. i don't match length and i don't expect you to either so long as everyone is contributing to progressing the scene/story then we're all good. happy to provide writing samples if requested.
topics/themes i want to explore: cheating, internalized homophobia, dubcon annnd so much more, anything we can come up with tbh just fuck me up the same way these tv dramas do ukwim
i'm really looking for a long term rp with someone who also enjoys creating a story, writing side characters, worldbuilding, the whole nine. this would take place in a separate server on discord using tupperbox. if interested please react and i'll be in touch!
like if you're interested and anon will get back to you

🛒🎶🌞👀🤯 for the fanfic asks :)
thank you :)
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
answered here!
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
sometimes, i feel like it depends. some days i need music to concentrate but others it distracts me. i'm never consistent with it, but one of the songs i've found really inspiring lately is same color as the sun, by flor. i saw them open for the maine in december, and they played this, and i've been obsessed with it ever since. it's such a good tarlos song imo
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
not really, tbh. lately i've just been trying to squeeze it in whenever i can
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
there's this one idea i had on a random trip to the library back in december, where carlos works as a librarian and tk holds a grief group for teens at the library every week. usually it doesn't happen during carlos's shift so they've never crossed paths before but a schedule shuffle one week means carlos ends up (accidentally) eavesdropping. and having just lost his dad a month before and still very much in the grieving process, carlos finds himself looking for excuse after excuse to listen in on tk's group, drawn to him for a reason he can't figure out.
it's going to explore carlos's grief process in a way i'm really excited about, i'm loving working on it right now :)
🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
action is always super hard, so i mostly avoid it, tbh. my fics are way more character-focused than plot-focused (and almost never have high action scenes) because i feel most comfortable writing that way. i also find anything in the realm of fantasy so difficult, i have such admiration and respect for the people that wrote those kinds of stories because the worldbuilding alone feels so intimidating

hiya there! one piece fan here. the manga was published VERY shortly after my birth, and im a working adult atm. so there's a lot to catch up on. and i mean this in the most honest way possible, there. is. a. lot.
if you want to experience the whole thing from beginning to end, you may have to spend, idk, years? depending on how much free time you want to spend. ofc if you read the manga it cuts down on time, because the anime has fillers every now and then. but some fillers are pretty outstanding and bring some personality to the table.
im not very good of a fan because i like smoother animation. so, ive skipped majority of the manga/anime in favor of watching recent episodes, then reading wiki pages if i get confused about any lore/backstory. btw the recent films starting from one piece film: strong world have god tier animation and were thought up by oda-sensei himself. the great thing about them is that they introduce you to the characters every single film, so they're newcomer-friendly!
but also, one piece is. unmatched in terms of worldbuilding. with like. 20+ years of content and oda-sensei's dedication to the universe, it's staggering to see islands, communities, and people so fleshed out that by the end you either care for them or at least understand where they're coming from --- including some of the worst villains.
it's pretty good. but to get through it, you have to commit but pace yourself or do what i did: pick a place to start and get additional info as needed. one piece is almost as old as i am. not a lot of new readers are picking it up because of its sheer length. but it is rewarding on its own.
one piece makes me want to go on adventures with my friends, make new friends, eat the most delicious food possible, beat up an oppressive government, and learn more about the world. it's an experience, i tell you. and it's worth the time spent.
we're approaching the end of one piece now, which might seem like my little (talented, showstopping, spectacular, etc) brother is retiring from a career that hes been in since he was born or smth, which is odd because im an only child. i'll be sad to see it end, but at the same time i can finally sleep knowing that i can actually read the beginning of one piece all the way to the end if i have the time
p.s. also one piece makes you cry for a fucking boat. thats how good a storyteller oda is.
okay, first of all. can i tell you how beautifully written your ask was? 😭 i felt like you sat me down to tell me a story and i’m just… OKAY WOW. if you’re not already a writer, you need to get in those drafts asap and write something oh my god 🫣💕 but anyways, you truly sold me on at least giving it a try. i feel a little intimidated because most fans seem to be like you and grew up with the show. i regret not watching more anime with my older brother tbh. BUT I WANT TO GIVE IT A TRY. if i can rewatch almost 20 seasons of grey’s anatomy, i can watch one piece. you better not leave me because i’m going to have to talk to you about it OKAY 😤😤

So, I finally checked out The Amazing Digital Circus after being constantly bombarded with analysis videos of it in my recommended the past few weeks.
To be honest, I was kinda intimidated by it for a while cuz of its popularity, not wanting to potentially piss people off...I-I know that new fandoms tend to be the most.....v-volatile (as I can safely say as someone who was in the FNF fandom when that game was new)....People just get really swept up in the hype of things new and shiny and don't really wanna poke holes in it until later, y'know?
But, I'm happy to say that I enjoyed it! It's VERY interesting, and did a good job keeping my attention, especially the dark moments. Mostly more cuz of the characters than the story, TBH. Stories about being trapped in a video game are a dime a dozen, but the characters in this one REALLY deserve to rest after breaking their backs carrying this pilot. XD
Overall, very stylish aesthetic too, some genuinely creepy moments AND jokes that made me laugh. Pacing was good - story was easy to follow, information came out slow enough for me to keep up. Worldbuilding has a lotta potential, did a good job explaining itself while leaving the perfect amount of mystery.
This is something I'm not hyperfixated on at all, but it IS something I can see myself being a casual fan of if it gets picked up.
My favorite character is Jax, by the way, cuz I'm once again a super predictable lover of snarkers and sadists. XD If there's anything I could potentially fixate on in a show proper, it'd probably be him, but right now I'm just generally charmed by him and find him funny and that's really it

Just for organization (and funsies because it's only 1 am and I'm bored) I wanna make a list of all the (magic) characters I have so far for this unnamed magic school story. Also idk if bullet lists are a thing on tumblr so like don't judge me if the format is weird jfshfjjsjs
Humans:
-Claire Celeste Estrella, the Amber Star Witch (the main character, 1/3 of a prophetic trifecta of witches, the character my friends ask me if she's written on purpose to be autistic, to which I say idk I write her like I'm writing myself so like)
-Heather Dean Forester, the Limelight Hydrangea Witch (Claire's best friend, he calls her by celeste, honestly he's kind of a boring design but I'm in love with him he's literally Just a guy who likes plants)
-Nova Éliane Jones, the Pink Sun Witch (lowkey starts off like she's the Mean Popular Girl trope but that's only because she's another 1/3 of a prophetic witch trifecta and she's charismatic and tbh just has great fashion sense, and Looks Like the queen bee of her friend trio,, tl;dr she's intimidating because she's popular but she's actually nice)
-Pippa Jane Owens, the Dandelion Witch (my DAUGHTER, in my top 3 favorite characters even though I haven't even written her yet, I just think she's neat. She's in Novas friend group, and I'm considering the idea that she somehow went to preschool or elementary school with Heather and Claire)
-Halia Ka Hiwa Kapule, the Red Hibiscus Witch (the third member of novas trio, if the Heathers were nice then Nova would be chandler, pippa would be mcnamara, and halia would be Duke. Not toxic, just in the sense that she's extremely perceptive and smart and easily on par with nova in popularity and intimidation from it. Idk I really like her outfit, leather coats over sweaters look DistinguishedTM)
-Divya Deshmukh, the Hourglass Witch (hrngh purple and gold color palette,, them and another character are the rebellious seniors who know all the Campus Secrets and Gossip, I love them very dearly, and their existence provided me a neat piece of worldbuilding so I appreciate that)
Non-humans (people native to the ~other world~ that the school takes place in; if not specified, assume they're an ElfTM):
-Daphne Rosa Clover, the Lilypad Witch (Claire's love interest, one of the few people in this world that is interested in the science behind magic rather than just what it can do. I love her dearly, pastel green and pink is one of my favorite color palettes)
-Sock Elm Dragonfly, the Feather Witch (the other senior that messes with freshmen alongside Divya. They're lowkey dating, idk. This is the one character I didn't name myself, but Sock is a better name for them than I probably could've come up with, I likely would've defaulted back to plant names since THEYRE ALL UNISEX TO MEE)
-London River Knight, the Lavender Moon Witch (the last 1/3 of the prophecy, also he's a werewolf? I haven't actually decided whether he's a Classic Werewolf or just a kemonomimi like some other characters. He's a pale lanky emo boy with grey hair idk what else to say, I just think he's neat, one of my favorite characters fjshhfsh)
-Serra Mun, the Cherry Witch (the VERY FIRST character I created for this story like 5 or 6 years ago. He's a catboy, of course. Frenemies with London, and as much as I want to ship them I fear the cliche of cat x dog but god dammit it's funny watching the way they bicker, especially since that's their first introduction from the pov of Claire and heather as their roommates, another one of my absolute favorites <3)
-Welwitschia Gloska, the Teapot Witch (well this is interesting. According to the laws of symbolic magic, she shouldn't exist, since a student by the same name and symbol just died the previous year. Perhaps there's more types of magic that can touch the soul, where symbolic magic cannot?)
-Bela Briar True, the Wisteria Witch (at the time of writing this, the most recently created character. They also probably shouldn't exist according to what people believe they know about souls, death, and the recycling and reincarnation of symbols. People tend to think of their existence as world breaking. It'd be like if it was discovered that gravity wasn't real and everything we know about modern science was completely wrong. They fully lean into this reputation though, and purposefully sneak around and generally act like a freaky little gremlin)
Non-Students:
-Professor Adriata Sweetweb, the Lavender Witch (the underworld necromancy teacher. I'm going to put it here first that every professor is a huge weirdo, so just imagine every professor I mention unless otherwise specified as being balls to the walls Extra in design and personality. As eccentric as humanly possible, and then more because none of them are humans)
-Professor Edith Dire, the Purple Foxglove Witch (the kitchen witchcraft teacher. It's basically a cooking class but with magic food, drinks, etc. She had her entire body turned into a wooden puppet so she could consume magic food containing her own symbol of a Foxglove, because otherwise it's poisonous.)
-Ewa Gloska, the Silver Moon Witch (1/3 of the previous prophecy 400 years ago, believed to be deceased)
-Ursa Elara, the Golden Sun Witch (1/3 of the previous prophecy 400 years ago, deceased)
-Altair Tahtinen, the White Star Witch (1/3 of the previous prophecy 400 years ago, deceased)
-Prastopé, the Lamb (one of many deities of the underworld. Also one of the friendliest ones, as her domain in the underworld is a vast meadow under pink skies, full of lambs that act as her eyes and messengers, meant for the souls of children. Underworld necromancers that wish to enter the underworld or simply speak with any deity tend to aim for Prastopé, as she has a reputation for being the most understanding and the least wrathful)
-Flutyx, the Ferrywoman (every underworld deity has at least one ferryman that brings the right souls to their domains in the underworld. Flutyx is the wife of Prastopé, and her only ferryman. While not as visibly soft and bright as Prastopé, being draped in black fabrics and dark colors, souls tend to feel at ease in her company. If Prastopé is the shield for the souls in her domain, Flutyx is the sword.)
-Paris insert last name (the actual first character I made, but he wasn't made FOR this story and is really just a super old character I completely forgot about and suddenly remembered and wanted to bring back. Anyways he's like in charge of what is essentially TSA for interdimensional travel lmao)
Characters I need to make but haven't yet
-all the other professors, too lazy to copy paste the list of classes I made rn
-more deities for both the underworld and over-overworld
-way more students as side characters but I unfortunately get way too attached and have to give everyone a Story
-the non-magical characters like yknow. The FAMILIES of the students lmao
-the Principal? Headmaster?? Of the school. And the one before them because it's important for the Lore
-some more characters related to the folklore of the world because history is a big aspect of this story and the characters arcs
-there's a character I accidentally retconned out of existence who was once named Barley and I really want to find a way to implement him back into the world because Heather deserves a love interest tbh, also it's needed for his ArcTM

i probably will also be sucked into the grishaverse. likely very far into the future though cause everyone so far has told me they’re hard to get into lmao and i already have the worst time trying to get into books
oh my god yeah so much of my interpretation of characters (especially nikolai) comes from the fics i read. and LMAO i mean you must be doing something right then. who needs to watch several seasons of shows to know the characters anyway?? 100k is so impressive either way i can barely put out a few thousand myself. i have a wip that’s 17k but i haven’t touched it in months tbh
i’m also tempted to write my own nikolai fics but i’m too lazy to google stuff about the world building and i have a need for making things somewhat accurate :’)
i think they are a little difficult to get into because s&b is a lot more stereotypical YA series but i still loved them; after there’s the crows duology and then a nikolai duology!! six of crows is incredible
i have 2 100k+ long fics rn and idk how i’m functioning i have too many things bouncing around in my head lmao. my one shots have been getting steadily longer, after i ended up with 40k words that stemmed from one line of dialogue ive just accepted i can’t write short things anymore
definitely write nikolai stuff!! he’s so much fun to write for. but i totally get it i was so intimidated to write for the grishaverse even after i finished the books because there’s a lot of worldbuilding but eventually you get into the groove and it’s fun

😡 :  Worse role play-related encounter and what advice you would give to others to avoid similar situations?
hahah , oh gosh. you know , i've had some shitty encounters but this one tops it off.
a few months back , i was rping in a very very small fandom fandom and my oc was just...really well thought out. i legit put so much into her. well, i ended up making her single shipped to a "friends" canon character from the show. well, what happened was my health got a bit rocky. i've got endometriosis and there are days that i'm in an extreme amount of pain. so i took some time off from rp because i needed rest and had no energy over it.
keep in mind , i explained to my "friend" what was up and she seemed to understand. well, i came back from that small like week long break to her dropping me completely. i don't mind it. i understand. but i was never told. so i asked her if i had done anything wrong. and the crap that i got back is just...let me say this : i am STILL so fucking insecure about my writing and all.
she deadass told me that i'm a horrible ship partner because i'm not around hardly for our ship when i legit needed some time to feel better. then she proceeded to say a bunch of other stuff that hurt. idk what i did. at this point , idc. it's the trash taking itself out . but she legit made me feel terrible about my character , my writing and just...a person in general. so , basically , we cut ties. i blocked her and all of her blogs. i want nothing to do with her.
this is the same person who has a whole ass discord with her besties who make fun of me and two other people. constantly. but anyways. so yeah, worst experience.
my advice is, fuck people. if they can't understand HEALTH COMES FIRST, then DROP THEM. there was a lot of things that hurt me that she said tbh. about how my oc is too bland , etc when she wasn't but i think what hurt me the most was the fact that she said she understood and made me feel liek i have to CONSTANTLY be online. it sucked. so since, i've been so self concious about my writing , etc. like i wanna build things up with people. worldbuilding is what i THRIVE on. but im also scared to get too involved 80% of the time because of that situation.
another point of advice is , watch what you say to other people...shit hurts man. being told youre intimidating hurts. being told you're not around much , hurts. being told you're not a good rp partner hurts the most though. be nice human beings. <3 the world needs more of them.

What do you think sky mages primarily do? Moon mages are described mainly as illusionists, and sun mages are described as healers. But sky mages are supposed to be “excellent acrobats, dancers, and sometimes thieves.” So does that mean they’re mainly performance artists?
The full quote is “Even with limited physical strength, a Sky mage can learn to perform feats of incredible agility, making them excellent acrobats, dancers, and sometimes thieves.”
Tumblr media
There’s other good info in there too, though, about magically enhancing movement to provide bursts of speed and leaps of great strength. The word that comes to mind when I consider all these options is versatility. The wind is very changeable. The Sky primal might be the one with the widest variety of applications out of all of them.
Performance art could be an actual Skywing thing, and I’d love to see it. Practically speaking, though, such basics as acrobatics, poise, body mechanics, artistry, speed, and accuracy might be the Skywing equivalent of Moonshadow dance, grace, teamwork, and other community-minded skills. Everyone learns them. They’re some of the basic building blocks of their culture. And then they take them and use them widely, not necessarily only as their narrow focus.
Example: Rayla can dance very gracefully. But she isn’t a professional dancer, she’s an assassin. It’s a skill she learned because dancing is part of magical community spells, and probably also a big social thing, in her culture. But if you had a dance-off with her, she’d probably wipe the floor with you anyway.
Tumblr media
In the same vein, Skywings might all have an collective sociocultural level of grace, speed, and athleticism because those skills are used in everyday life.
That said, there’s evidence in TTM that the Moon Druids danced their spells and were incredibly graceful at it. That level of grace and poise was professional, not social. They’d need their dancing to be top notch.
Tumblr media
So Sky mages may need their ability to be dancers and acrobats because those skills, at a professional level, are needed to perform their best magic.
Skywriting, anyone? I want skywriting! Hah, that would be really cool! I always think about that cloud swirl over Katolis Castle in the opening shot of S1E2 and wonder if it’s Skywing or Storm Dragon created, as opposed to a general harbinger of doom, or maybe a nod to Runaan’s Hurricane--a very specific harbinger of doom in this context.
Tumblr media
Anyway! Sky mages aren’t held to any particular moral calling any more than anyone else, I guess, so any light-fingered tendencies would only be bolstered by the ability to yeet themselves to safety, whether through strength, agility, speed, or actual wings. Look at all those versatile options!
I could only guess at what worldbuilding is in place for Skywings when it comes to mage specialties. I hope they have uhhh weather elves, I guess, who can tame storms and shoo rainclouds here and there, to keep the land below balanced, neither too hot nor cold, too wet nor dry. And I hope they’re kooky as heck! Chubby hobbitlike Skywing mages who potter about Xadia from cliff to peak, happily tending the land below as their personal garden and genially beaming down on everyone, but not wanting to go on any particular adventures of their own. That’d be cute as heck, tbh.
Anyone familiar with ElfQuest? Winnowill? Ooh she was a piece of work, an excellent villain! A Skywing Winnowill, treating people as breezes to be plucked and turned, changing the currents of fate around her. Basically a cult leader, powerful, charming, intimidating, and creepy af. “Staying outside the chaos” by controlling it. It’s the very antithesis of a Skywing, really, and therefore fabulous villain material. Almost an Aaravos, but fully integrated into the living world.
On a much lighter note, messenger elves would be vital in times of crisis. Maybe there are Skywing mage cultural attachés that dwell in the various elven capitals, or at least visit regularly, or who can be summoned in case of emergency, so that the separate communities can begin to work together against some kind of common threat? That would play to their strengths--speed and accuracy--while also letting them stay safe and away from fighting if they didn’t wish to engage. That’s basically what Ibis did: he fetched and gathered and assembled those who wanted to fight together, and then he uh, well we don’t know whether he fought or not, but he wasn’t on screen as a combatant. But he did use his skills in a way no one else could, and he played a vital part in assuring that battle’s success beforehand.
Tumblr media
Not everyone has to be a combatant in Xadia, but can you imagine a Skywing mage in battle? Hoo boy! Even if they simply held an ordinary weapon and only enhanced their physical speed and strength, they’d be astonishing. Tossing the odd spell about on top of that makes me wonder... do Skywings have combat heroes? Is that a thing they celebrate? Or is it more like just one more option among so many that such a choice carries no more glory than choosing to be a masterful dancer?
Maybe that very versatility is why the Skywings are so spread out across Xadia. If a binary identity belongs to Sunfires and Moonshadows, then perhaps we can look at the Skywings’ range of options as far more than merely a spectrum--as a cloud, equal yet diffuse. They may blow together, or they may blow apart, and yet they are always cloud stuff. Maybe Skywings tend to hang out with other elves of like mind, or with no one, like Nyx, just as much as they hang out together, as birds of a feather.
As far as Callum’s future mage options go, it really depends on who trains him and how much exposure he gets to the basics behind the magic he’s learning. But Rayla is graceful and acrobatic on the ground. Looks like Callum will become graceful and acrobatic in the air, to both match and mirror her. And that’s super cool.

If you ever decide to write the necromancer Fallout AU, what would you write about?
OHOHOH. Based on our convos about the AU, it should absolutely be set in the west/Fallout New Vegas setting to dig into the Weird Western genre.
For worldbuilding, I would use the factions as different necro houses/philosophies. I really like playing with what factions might look like. Off the cuff and probably would change with more thinking, but:
-Followers interested in the medical potential of Necromancy, but also preserving history, maybe even speaking with the dead.
- Khans use life and death energy they find in the earth/nature, and have some cool and very private rituals they don't share with outsiders
- House would absolutely be like the 8th house, dabbling in Bad Magic and using others Thalergy (life energy) to uncomfortable ends.
- TBH the Legion would absolutely be the Bone House, have skeleton-slave thralls and instead of being conquers, be isolationist and be very authoritarian about their beliefs and religion. Everyone thinks they are Super Weird
- Boomers may also be a good Bone House...
- NCR uses thanergy (death energy) of conquered people to increase their military might.
I also read a FACINATING bit of meta about how necormancy in the Locked Tomb trilogy is an allegory for the colonialist and existential destructive power of nuclear energy, so Fallout is the perfect AU setting. I would want to explore that more explicitly, make it less of an allegory and more of a mechanic of how necromancy works.
For some reason I would LOVE to explore the solar power plant and that weird-ass laser as a plot point or key location? I love the weird implications of life-giving energy/power and a destructive potential hidden beneath it.
As for characters and plot, I have NO IDEA. I'm so intimidated by Muir's brilliance I don't think I could come close to the incredible characters she makes or the bizarre situations they are in... I wouldn't want to re-tell the New Vegas plot, or rely too much on The Locked Tomb's. Hmmm.... 🤔

I would love to hear more about the stories themselves and your thoughts as an author, like which stories came to you easily to write vs which plotlines did you really have to wrestle with (aside from the monstrosity that is anryuu epic), which ones have your personal favourite storylines and which ones do you think you'll be able to work on for the rest of the year? just small behind the scenes questions bcs i dont know what to ask really im just excited to read them as they come ;;;;
Oh boy. This is uhhh.... gonna be a rant lmao. I appreciate the ask a lot! :D Having a chance to talk about the stories when someone wants to hear is very nice, so thank you!!!
Under a cut because long.
Anryuu Epic is a big deal right now. It’s enough of a monstrosity that it has to have its own blog too ( @anryuuepic ), and, well... I can’t write it for quite a while. Because of its sheer size, there’s just so much worldbuilding, plotting, and character development that has to be done to keep everything straight that I won’t be able to actually start on it for at least a couple more years, depending on how much time I have to work on it... I love it, I really do, but damn is the work overwhelming.
Execution Program is a tricky case. I have the entire first part figured out in pretty good detail in my head, except for the actual play-by-play plotting, and as well as I know the whole concept, I probably could write it next year if I wanted to... but the issue comes in that I really want it to be a visual media. A manga or webcomic is what I’m aiming for, but considering that drawing is not my thing at all, I’m kind of stuck tbh. :/ I’m just holding onto it until I can figure something out. And considering doing a prototype written version.
Infinite 9 needs a lot of work. I had one concept originally that I decided I didn’t like, so now, it needs fixed up almost entirely. Once I sit down and get it figured out, it should be short enough to handle fairly easily, but I still have some major worldbuilding/plot debates to make decisions on.
Memento Mori is in a similar boat. I changed the original concept not too long ago, so now, I need to make sense of things in the new way. I have the plot pretty well figured out, but character-building just hasn’t wanted to work out for me. Once I actually sit down and do it, it won’t be too lengthy/difficult I don’t think, but again, I have to get the time and motivation to do that.
Herman’s story is another case of me needing it to be a visual material. I’m basically dead-set on it being somehow animated, mostly because I don’t think the jokes will work in any other way. Like with Execution Program, I’m just kind of holding onto it for now...
Here There be Monsters is another old favorite. It was a huge focus of mine during my teen years, and tbh, will probably be third largest of these stories in terms of book number and sheer length. It want it to be complicated, but my old designs and ideas need a lot of fleshing out now that I have an adult mind going for me, and it feels kind of intimidating. ;w; Like with Anryuu, I’ll need to figure out a lot of stuff before I can actually write it.
STASIS is actually kind of started! I plan to write it very soon, but I need to rewatch/read its inspirations again before I can go for it. I have the entire thing plotted out in detail, so it’s just a matter of when I get those media consumed again. Which is... difficult, considering how busy I tend to be.
Higanbana Club is another one that I probably could do at almost any time with a bit of plotting and figuring out the last major elements needed. The problem with it is that I’ve been told (and agree) that I should wait a bit before I do it. It’s a very important story to me, so people have told me that I should wait until I have a few novels under my belt before attempting something that matters so much. And I think that’s a fair point.
Vanishing Line, I could also likely start at any time. I’d need to work out the details of the plot and a few more characters, but overall, it’s in a state where minimal work could have it ready to go! I know the ending, most of the plot, and everything, so it wouldn’t be too hard to get together and go for when I have the chance. It’s a story that’s come to me very easily/quickly.
Four Years is tied with Angelica’s Eden for the second-largest/longest of my stories. I didn’t exactly intend for it to happen at first, but the longer I look at what I want the plot and story to be, the more it expands. There’s a LOT of things that I want to include and a lot of development that I want to happen. Tbh, my biggest hurdle with it is expanding the cast, since the first time I tried to write it (in 2017) failed mostly because I didn’t have enough people to work with... or people motivating me. >.> I’d like to do stuff with it soon, I think.
Asteria Garden is yet another case of me having changed the original idea (it was too... happy) and needing to rework stuff for it to be writable. Again, I need to fix just, a lot, so it’s a matter of me having the time to sit down and make sense of everything.
Chamillane has undergone some recent rework too— namely, that it became a three-part story instead of the one-part one I had assumed it would be. Stephane went from the main villain to one of three, and I’m going to have to adjust a lot to make that work. That said, I adore the other two antagonists I came up with, and I can’t wait to make their stories work!
The Girls of Virtue has been both an incredible experience and the biggest thorn in my side I’ve ever written. I love it dearly, I really do, but the pace at which I’ve written it makes me want to beat myself. I know it’s because life keeps beating me over the head with a stick, but I’m so disappointed in how slow it’s been. ;w; That said, we’re like four chapters away from the end, so look forward to that as soon as I can get it done! Hopefully soon.
SILVER is one where I’m kind of.... confused? I thought I had a clear idea for it, but the longer I thought about it, the more off it started to seem, and now, I’m looking at some big questions that need to be answered. I still love what I’m doing with it (especially Marlow!), but there are some pretty major issues that I need to sort through before it becomes writeable.
Angelica’s Eden.... yikes. It’s another one where it got out of control very fast, and now, I’m looking at a presumable seven parts to the full thing. I love where it’s going, but considering that it’s tied for current second-longest along with Four Years, I have a lot of work that needs to be done before it’s in writeable shape. The plot is coming along pretty well, though! The three parts I do have are tying together nicely, and I just need to brainstorm the other pieces that will pull the whole thing into one coherent storyline~
Yamitsuki is current kind of on hold? I need to get at least a good chunk of the way into Nightfall before I start it, so it’s just sitting at its blog, @yamitsukigame , before I get around to doing serious work on it. I’m having fun with the characters, but it needs to wait for a while.
Nightfall. Ah, the original work that’s so popular it almost offends me. XD I don’t know what I did to make it go over so well, but it almost bothers me that it gets so much more traction than everything else. I love the attention, I really do, and it is quite the experience.... it’s just a little bizarre to me that it became so well-loved out of absolutely nowhere? Actually, now that I think about it, it’s also probably one of my longest. Just in game form. I need to work on it more often, but hhhhnn motivationnnnn is slow.
White Snow, last of all! It’s another one that’s pretty much ready to write— I’m just having a hard time catching the mood when it’s still in the heat of early fall. I think it’ll come to me again quickly once winter starts up, so expect something then, most likely! It’ll be pretty short, I think, so here’s hoping I can handle it at a good pace when I get there?
Thanks again for the ask, anon!!! :D

tagged by @hua-fei-hua to list the top three favourite fics of my own, chat about them, & tag some writer friends to do the same :D thank you Hua!! 💛
i’m sure the majority of my newest followers came for the JJK content but i’m going to highlight some of my other fandom work here since my current favorite JJK fic is still a WIP atm :3
let me love those bruises out of you — hxh | killugon | T | 2k words (oneshot)
pure self-indulgence. all of my killugon fics are but man, i love a good nightmare-induced hurt/comfort full of consent, words of affirmation, and tackling one’s trauma together. this one took a few months to come together because i was continuously dissatisfied with the end (which happens to me a lot, unfortunately) but i’m really proud of a lot of the dialogue and just the overall tender vibe i accomplished toward the end after much struggle lol
think with your head, not that thing in your chest — hxh | leopika | T | 3k words (oneshot)
let me tell you, leopika fully possessed me for a good month during which i wrote when i don’t touch you it’s a mistake in any life & this before they flounced off into the void again leaving me with three additional WIPs that may never see the light of day. thankfully i was able to bang this out beforehand; it’s one of those fics where you have a super niche need and you can’t find it anywhere so you have to create it yourself. it’s different from my normal cavity-inducing fluff but it was fun to try something packed with a desperate sort of yearning that ends in a semi-realistic bittersweet tone.
you put your arms around me & i'm home — toz | sormik | G | 2k words (oneshot)
tbh this one is probably not on anyone’s radar because the fandom is older and i came into it 1000 years late lol but i really enjoyed writing the environmental descriptions in this. i have a tendency to include very minimal background information when i write because i focus a lot on the characters feelings and actions/dialogue, so this was a nice change of pace for me stylistically. worldbuilding can be intimidating for me but on the few occasions i’ve given it a go, i like to think i did pretty well lol
Tag | @sincerelysamedt @storybookprincess @rainyeyedgal & anyone else who would like to! 💕 i don’t know many active writers anymore but please feel free to use this as an opportunity to showcase your work 🥰

oooh hello! If you're doing the Reverse Unpopular opinion thing: Lord of the Rings/the Silmarillion? :D
ooo ok
i feel like lotr gets a bit of a bad rap as being ‘boring’ or like, taking itself too seriously? which i personally think is really misguided and generally comes from people who either find tolkien’s writing style intimidating (which is fair) or simply. haven’t read any of his books and aren’t aware how fun and silly they can be
lotr is definitely dense and difficult to read, don’t get me wrong! but it’s also enormously entertaining if you can get past that. (personally, i tend to prefer the books to the movies because i find the way the way that tolkien writes humor to be a lot more fun than the way the movies’ creators do it lol) i hold that lotr is 500% better and more entertaining if you don’t take it seriously
and that extends to the silmarillion as well! the only way i was able to get through the whole silmarillion was by making jokes and memes about it. there are also many parts of it that are absolutely hilarious when you think about them for a while (like. pretty much anything at all to do with feanor sdkfkjldsf)
i also mostly really love the tolkien fandom! there are so many talented people in the fandom and i would say it’s one of the chiller ones i’ve been in (with exceptions of course, but no fandom can be perfect!) there aren’t any huge shipping wars mostly, and one of the bonuses of tolkien leaving so many gaps in his worldbuilding is that there is a lot of space for fans to fill in and have fun playing in! it’s really beautiful and i’m very glad i got to be part of it
i really like how there is such a sense of place in lotr, and how the setting works to build upon the themes of the story and also just. create emotion in the narrative? you feel something when you see lothlorien as the fading remnant of a beautiful place, or minas tirith the ancient city that has become cold and hard with war, or minas morgul the once great citadel that is now fallen and corrupted. it’s a really amazing part of tolkien’s writing and also something the movies did a fantastic job of capturing and using for their own storytelling! every scene, every prop, every set and costume is so carefully designed to tell the visual story of the film (that’s one of the things i love and admire so much about film in general tbh.... truly some of the greatest movies in western cinema)

The post you shared about fanfiction is super interesting! Also, when they mentioned world building, I thought of your stories, because I feel that you have ended up crafting worlds wholly beyond the scope of Skam Fr and even the tropes that would have inspired them. Anyway, you have some nice stories lol
awww thank youuuuu <3 that’s very nice to hear. and yeah fanfic has taught me so much, and given me the confidence to just try a lot of fun things and discover that i do love worldbuilding, even though it was a thing that really used to intimidate me ^^ it’s always kind of strange, the mainstream image that fanfic has, because even though yeah some of it is very weird or badly written (and tbh...that’s not necessarily a bad thing, everybody has to start somewhere! and even those tend to have a lot of heart) i have just read some fucking incredible things that more than rival published stuff AND they have the bonus of just being really original and fresh because they are not bound to the requirements of the market and its limited ‘wisdoms’

2020 Fic Year in Review
I was tagged by @aurorawest ! I’d been planning on doing something similar eventually and I like the directed questions here, so it worked out well.
Total number of completed stories: 27
Total word count: (I’m terrible about keeping track of word counts so this is total posted word count, thank you ao3 statistics) 189,970
Fandoms written in: MCU, the very tiny fandom of the Netflix series Into the Night, and I got one very, very short Les Misérables fic done
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? I guess about what I expected? Maybe a bit more, actually, I only ended up being about 40k short of my word count from last year, I didn’t think I’d actually get anywhere close. So that’s good!
What’s your own favorite story of the year? For the tiny airplane fandom, I really liked ‘we are the sleepers, we bite our tongues’. And I’m just going to keep saying ‘where is your sting’ for the MCU lol.
Even though also, I mean, ‘alone amidst the ruins’ is definitely the one I’m most proud of. I worked so hard on it. I just don’t revisit it as much because I spent so much time working on it, whereas I do occasionally reread ‘where is your sting’. XD
Did you take any writing risks this year? Hm. Striking out in a new, very different fandom was a bit of a risk. One that resulted in multiple nights looking up things like ‘how to fly a plane’. :) And also it was really the first time I started writing for a fandom that I had 0 other input other than canon. Before I start writing for a new fandom, I’ve usually read a whole lot of fic and gotten a sense of the audience and what else is out there. But...there was nothing else out there when I started writing. This was all me and it was a little intimidating, especially with some of the technical stuff.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? Several! 2021 New Year’s Writing Resolutions:
- Not have such a damned complex about writing. Look. I had a whole time this year, I think we all did, and I just want myself to chill tf out about this one thing. Just chill out a little bit, self. Chill.
- Write about more space ghosts. And by that I mean more episodic space adventure plus magic and/or ghosts (bonus points for ghosts) style fics. Sort of along the lines of some of my older whumptober prompts (like ‘1. stabbed’ ‘5. poisoned’ and ‘7. kidnapped’ from ‘pain and other human sensations’ or ‘hurts like ghosts’). I didn’t really do any this year, had a lot more short, angsty fics. The closest I think I got was the whumptober prompt ‘enemy to caretaker’ or maybe ‘withdrawal’. But I have some ideas and even though those fics are a lot of work because of worldbuilding stuff, I want to do that work because they’re really my favorite type of fics.
- Make progress on series. I’d really like to get my next fic in ‘the nine in the tree’ finished before the next Doctor Strange movie is released, and make some progress on the third fic in ‘the dead reign there alone’ considering it’s been like...a long time and I think if I make any progress on it, I’ll feel better.
- Write more second drafts. Oof. Like, this is the most obvious advice that I should have absorbed a lot time ago, but like...writing a second draft makes the writing better. I get that now. I probably won’t do full second drafts for everything, but yeah. More focus on editing/rewriting in the new year.
Most popular story of the year? ‘like a tear on a cheek’ got the most kudos, by quite a bit. I’m happy for it, it was really sappy and indulgent, and kind of a mouthpiece for my own thoughts about forgiveness and redemption. I think that probably struck a chord XD
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I logically know why this is the case, but tbh my two more extreme AUs I think were slightly underappreciated, if I do say so myself. I did my first actual all-human AU with ‘panic room’ in January, and then my ‘medieval-ish’ fantasy AU ‘a keen scourge through the wintry air’. Like, I get why these didn’t get as much attention as others I wrote this year, I still think they’re a little underappreciated. XD
Most fun story to write: Obviously, I found ‘where is your sting’ to be the most fun. ghosts in space!. It was pure Sakaar Trash Party with ghosts and overwrought dialogue, I had a lot of fun.
Most unintentionally telling story: in a chapter of ‘alone amidst the ruins’, I included a line about the WHO advising on the wearing of masks.
a line that I swear to God, I wrote last year. got to it during the rewrite and had to go lie down for a bit.
Biggest disappointment: Even if I knew I probably wasn’t going to get all the way through the whumptober prompts this year (2018 was a - somewhat scary in hindsight - lightning strike of dedication and inspiration. I don’t know how I did Fall 2018 and I’m not sure it will ever happen again), but I would have liked to finish the ones I had started. Coming up on the end of the year and I’ve left one multichapter fic hanging, and still haven’t finished the ‘possession’ one which should be easy to finish.
This is also more a regret than a disappointment but I do sort of now regret my choice to publish all the whumptober prompts separately. Urgh, I think I would just be happier if they were organized into collections by fandom, they just bury everything else and some of them are so short and I really, really wish I had stuck with my method of organizing them in one document. Errrrr, regret. Like there are definitely benefits to doing it this way, but...still. Wish I had done it the other way.
Biggest surprise: Honestly, getting any comments and kudos from the tiny airplane fandom was an absolutely delightful surprise. Thank you, anyone who kudosed any of those works <3
- - -
So, 2020. What the fuck was that, am I right? It honestly feels like another world already. Like I’ll remember doing something and be like...hm not sure that actually happened to me, sort of feels like that happened to someone else and I just watched. I know I’m supposed to tag people, but also #SocialAnxiety (even in fandom). but please please please if you are a fic writer and want to take a moment to reflect on your writing experience this year, consider this an open tag!!!

BNHA/MHA First Watch-Through Notes
1x01
these are... stupid... and... a mess. bc I am stupid and a mess. you have had your warning. I didn’t even go back and skim through this when I was done I’m just releasing these little bastard thoughts into the void they’re not my problem now
I’m watching dubbed btw
I know, I know... it’s the only one I have access to rn tho
I... do not know how to feel about funimation’s new intro?
well I guess it’s not really new but
listen I haven’t watched anything of funimation’s since the og fruits basket ok I’m used to the DUN-DUN *funimation* ((....you should be watching))
he is. babie. green babie.
but also why do these small children have such wild hair colors
I mean I’m here for it
I just wasn’t expecting it
oH SHIT THEY GOT POWERS POWERS
so this is the famous deku
I’m guessing this is like a flashback or memory or something?
I missed the bully’s name
speaking of the bullies, they changed order? It was wings, fire, stretchy hands, but now it’s fire, stretchy hands, wings. I know that they probably wanted to show the “leader” closest and that’s why but,,
also wtf?? these are kids. like bullies should not be a thing, I think we can all agree on that, but yeah, it’s gonna happen. but these kids are, what? eight? nine? maybe their powers (’quirks,’ whatever) aren’t super powerful yet, but this blonde kid has fire powers. has nobody talked to them about just how dangerous this is? forget roughing the other two up or intimidating them or giving them a hard time, this could genuinely escalate and get way out of hand super fast, and someone could get seriously injured.
oof. boy is dead.
this eight year old (purple hair) sounds like he’s a thirty yo new teacher trying to sound hip and cool but also wise and knowing to his class who Does Not Care
OH
that wasn’t purple kid?? that was current deku???
wack
then this fourteen year old sounds like he’s a thirty yo new teacher trying to sound hip and cool but also wise and knowing to his class who Does Not Care
also they were four?
jeepers heckin criminey who starts beating people up at four years old
have to say though, I loved that sky-to-puddle transition
jiminey fucking crickets I’m not even a minute into the episode these notes are going to be stupidly long I’m sorry
!! I love his little skipping-dance thing when he’s impatient at the crosswalk!
alright... I’ll admit it... his character design is pretty adorable
also tf is that thing
it looks half shark half poorly drawn dog
I mean I get it’s probably a person and that’s their quirk or whatever but
did this kid just run all the way across the city just to watch this guy start shit at the station so he could see the heroes take him down??
I mean respect tbh but also priorities kid
also I really appreciate that the cops are just kind of calmly directing everyone and everyone else is just kind of chillin like “oh. another villain. that’s too bad.” like tbh that’s one of the things that always kind of annoys me about movies and shows like this where there’s like repeatedly villain attacks because yes they are scary, especially when you’re caught up in them, but if you’re just kind of there and not directly in the action or being directly threatened, then why are you freaking out? you’ve lived in this city for how long? there’s an attack every, what, two days? this isn’t routine for you by now?
I started this like 15 min ago and am only like a minute and a half into the ep smh
ngl this intro kinda pops off
that hero guy seemed... kind of evil lookin tho
love the animation oml
also the lyrics to this are great???
OH IS THAT A NARRATIVE FOIL I SEE IMPLIED THERE
I THINK IT IS
“and they were narrative foils” “oh my god they were narrative foils”
k ngl rewinding real quick bc I missed some of the intro and there’s always so much fun stuff to see and unpack in those
also I wanna read all the lyrics
k so I was wondering this before but I’m just gonna say it... why does the hero guy have rabbit ears
alright character designs lookin p fire so far
last guy I keep missing but he kind of looks like steven universe?? idk I still have to watch that show too tbh so,,,
does the big hero guy turn into a giant bird?
oh that intro got me excited for this
these characters look so lit!!
“the first incident?” so this isn’t just like a natural factor of their world? it hasn’t always been going on? there was, like, a definitive start to it all? was that kid really the first incident or the first one they noticed? was that actually the first incident or is it just like the commonly told first incident, like an old myth/legend/folktale/old wive’s tale?
interesting that it started with a baby and then moved to people of all ages?
oh they don’t know the cause of the quirks? interesting
((why do I feel like finding out the answer to that is gonna be like A Big Thing™ at some point in the series))
I really like the visuals they put with this exposition?? idk why it’s just,,, very appealing
also his voice is very nice to listen to tbh, so that’s a definite plus
I hate it when the main character’s voice is super annoying
but like how long ago was it that this started? he just said “before long”
I like that in this universe they actually acknowledge that hey comic books are a thing and this whole superheroes/villains/powers thing is kind of ridiculous bc it’s legit like playing out scenes straight from those comic books but also this is real life and it’s actually happening and really does pose a lot of danger and complications to a lot of people, so we’re going to treat it as something real and serious and affecting us
I might’ve spoken too soon but I really hope they don’t blow that mindset
I feel like too often superhero shows/movies just either completely gloss over the effects this stuff has on society as a whole, or it’s like a completely new thing for them, like there’s never been the concept of a fictional superhero or a comic book there before.
“was an age of heroes”??? oh no what happens
k but why is this guy dressed like the ‘do not cross’ lines
kind of a lame hero costume tbh :/
why. does he have. sleeves. but no shirt.
edna mode would never do you like that honey go see her
“Death Arms”?? what kind of alias is that?? also wouldn’t it make more sense for arms to be uncovered than his chest, then??
“The Punching Hero”
I’m sorry I Cannot take this guy seriously
waterbending??
asdkfdls idk why but this firehose guy really reminds me of that one alchemist from fmab with the top hat and the monocle and the peg leg that spun like a top and Scar murked
“rescue specialist” see?? that makes sense!! it makes me so happy that they’re actually thinking more about the worldbuilding and how dangerous scenarios would work if 80% of the population had powers of different kinds, beyond “big bad guy meet big good guy. punch punch good guy wins”
also dear god thank you for putting someone on crowd control I know I was just saying it was great these people weren’t really treating this like the end of the world and it is good that they were mostly staying back by themselves but. they were still standing very close to an ongoing fight. priorities, people. self preservation. they are things. that I do not believe most people in superhero universes have in the slightest.
aww he’s too short
(but is he shorter than edward elric)
((do we know))
(((somebody please tell me if this information is available)))
alsdfkj l;a that guy calling in late bc the train got held up by the villain... do you think that’s another equivalent of “oh...I’m...sick... yeah, totally, I’m sick” and “my dog ate my homework” to them? “there was a villain attack” or “some idiot on my block decided to show off their quirk and it got out of hand”
ope Big Hero™ is here
...why am I surprised that they have fans?? I mean I guess that makes sense they’re basically celebrities and public figures right?
okay Big Hero™ is Kamui got it
wait no that is not the Big Hero™
but they are another hero and their name is Kamui got it
“Kamui Woods” ok that’s actually helpful I was gonna ask what his skin was supposed to be bc I didn’t think it was scales and it does look kind of like bark... Now going to take that as permission to assume it’s the latter
kamui kind of reminds me of some pokemon but I’m not sure which one?? I’m sorry idk pokemon v well but thy def remind me of one of them
“...a fAnBOY” he looks and sounds like he just tricked someone into confessing to murder why is he so smug about that smh
you know what. speaking of. I don’t get why everyone views being a fan of something/someone as something to be embarrassed or ashamed about?? why do people make fun of other people for it? why do we treat it like some big dark secret we try to hide? when did liking something become a bad thing? like?? sorry I have hobbies and interests and you don’t? sorry I think this person is talented? sorry I thought this book was life-changing? sorry I listen to this album so much because it’s good? sorry this show made me laugh during a really rough time? like goddamn it’s nobody’s business what you like unless you’re trying to force it on you when you’ve asked them to stop or it’s hurting someone? if they’re being safe and respectful about it for everyone involved then there shouldn’t be a problem? stop making people feel like freaks or be scared to enjoy something just a little too much? just let people have good things in life and consume the media that makes them happy? it has little to no effect on you? I don’t get why it’s you’re problem?? sorry to get all soapboxy this is something that’s always really annoyed me
does kamui have flowers on their belt
icon
k but isn’t wood like... really easy to break tho
I mean... comparatively speaking?
“illegal use of powers during rush hour traffic” alsfjsadlkf
wait so he’s listing charges for the guy, does that mean heroes are officially licensed here and can actually arrest people? and... actually work with law enforcement?? gasp no wait but I thought that was impossible except for The One Officer On The Inside That The Hero Has Convinced Of Their Cause™
hold up... “assault, robbery, and illegal use of powers during rush hour traffic... you are the incarnation of evil” ...bro chill lmao
I mean those aren’t good things but,,,, buddy “evil” can get so much worse holy shit sunflower child has no idea what’s in store for them
the show can do a hell of a lot even if they decide not to go that dark
well deku did say he was new
also off topic but I just looked it up and DEKU IS HALF A FOOT TALLER THAN ED
I’M SORRY BUT THAT’S HILARIOUS
CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS EXCITED GREEN CHILD MEETING ED THE GREMLIN ELRIC AND JUST TOWERING OVER HIM
he’d probably get along well w al though so ed would have to like him anyways
ok but back to bnha
ope kamui just got upstaged
but honestly?? he was actin a lil cocky and she seems like a queen so I ain’t mad about it
oh great creeps are everywhere apparently
YES THANK YOU THEY NEED TO INCLUDE SUPERPOWERS IN LEGISLATION SOMEHOW OTHERWISE PEOPLE CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING GEEZ
just. more worldbuilding that I appreciate.
jfc they muzzled him?
ok i wasn’t that mad about kamui being upstaged (idk why I kinda like the guy) but now she’s acting a little too cocky for me and I feel kind of bad for Death Arms and Backdraft (?) because they definitely do deserve at least a little credit
yes. official. overseen by the government. I’m not saying it’s necessarily a good idea bc I’m not getting into the whole mess the MCU basically did regarding that, but it really does add to the worldbuilding and making it seem more realistic/draw you in a little more because you can bet that would be a thing that would actually happen in some capacity if such a large percentage of the population had superpowers, and crime was at an all-time high at the same time, with normal methods without powers likely not doing much to combat that, and it being even harder because everyone’s is different
wow so they really do have roles similar to celebrities huh?
I actually love how he’s analyzing the new hero
that’s!! the good!!! nerdery!!!!
ngl thought that guy was gonna be like “well that’s never gonna happen” lmao glad he didn’t turn out to be an asshole
this guy’s hair and his sweater need an upgrade
I’m sorry honey it’s just not a Look™
I mean ngl I’d probably wear it but also I am the absolute last person to look to for a good idea of fashion so
wow we hate asshole teachers
this kid’s hair grows wtf
they seriously just break out their quirks when they get annoyed?? I mean me too probably but
oh wait he’s not totally an asshole
but that still is kind of a dick move because even if it seems really really likely that most of them do, a lot of them probably feel like that’s just what’s expected of them or that that’s their best bet at an ok life, or they don’t think they’ll actually be able to get a career as a hero, and he has to know that there are kids (or at least one) in his class who don’t have powers and who will probably be shut down at every turn on that career track??
also what is it with the absurd number of people whose hair grows/flys/whatever and whose hands change chape and/or elongate
the girl who just throws up the rock n roll sign is my favorite
also why does this teacher remind me of gilderoy lockhart
I get that his eye thing is part of his quirk... but does he face no consequences health-wise from putting his grubby fingers all over his eyeballs?? you don’t know where your hands have been
ah
the famed bakugo
we finally meet
you seem like a cocky asshole and if I remember correctly you have firepowers
you know who else seemed like cocky assholes and one point or another and had firepowers??
roy mustang and zuko
and one of those guys is an awkward, angry turtleduck, and the other one is a rightly smug bastard who succeeded in pulling a coup on the government who was surveilling him and holding half his team hostage
so yeah I have a feeling I’m gonna like this guy
probably
at some point
eventually
it might take a while
“the only place worthy of me” oh dear
All Might!! Big Hero™ has a name!!
oh being a hero solely bc you want to be rich and popular? lame
aklsdfsjaslkfd teach just callin deku out in front of everyone
r.i.p.
it was nice having you as a main character for eight whole minutes I’m sorry you have to face death-by-embarrassment you deserved better
ope
bakugo doesn’t want anyone stealin his thunder
lemme guess deku is also his Main Rival™ or at least will be
awwwww poor guy
how much you wanna bet he gets the highest scores in all the exams bc he studies the heroes so much and that’s how he gets in
that lady got forcefields for her quirk? damn she lucked out
“this cash is mine” *drops cash*
are all the heroes like fine mt. lady can deal w the guy she keeps stealing all our credit anyway so there’s no point??
....is that all might?
k but... y’all should be taking notes on the heroes too if you want a better chance at that career and better schools for it? I know they’re probably making fun of it bc he doesn’t have a quirk but still
also I find it really interesting that the kids all act like the quirks are absolutely everything but at that scene on the street earlier people were complaining about missing the days they didn’t have to worry about “every rando w a quirk” or something... like maybe it’s because the kids grew up w it? Idk just the difference in mindset between (presumably) generations seems cool to look into
wow we love bullies so much
no we don’t pls stop you’re not as cool as you think you are
DESTROYING SOMEONE’S NOTEBOOK/JOURNAL/SKETCHBOOK IS ONE OF THE MOST DICK MOVES SOMEONE CAN MAKE CHANGE MY MIND
alright bakugo you’ve definitely moved onto my shitlist for the moment
don’t stay there
well you know what they say about greatness... some people are destined for it, yeah, but some become it, and some have it thrust upon them
cliches are there for a reason buddy
and either way... I could be wrong but... there doesn’t seem like anything great or heroic about bullying people... I mean idk that’s just my opinion but
god I hope they eat bakugo alive at ua
deku I know you’re a sunshine child but you have to get in now. you have to. out of pure spite. please.
yeah, friend 1b is right buddy...
destroy him deku
DESTROY THEM DEKU
oh suicide jokes huh
bakugo you’re on thin fucking ice you’ve just moved way up in my shit list
wow I hate him <3
EXACTLY
THANK YOU DEKU
I hate it when shows have someone make a suicide joke like that and just? no one addresses it?? or the characters don’t seem to realize that it needs addressing, at least to themselves??? so this is refreshing
voiced my thoughts exactly
he really is an idiot
NO BUDDY YOUR DREAMS ARE STILL POSSIBLE AND VALID
YOUR NOTES ARE SALVAGEABLE
he really is a jerk deku you’re right
awww little deku is so cute
alright I’m gonna make a prediction
this is his mom right
is this gonna be
another
dead anime mom?
and lemme guess she always told him she was sure he’d be a hero/she knew he’d become one, and then she died, and that’s why he’s so set on it
probably not
but just... placing my bets now
w h a t  is this child doing
he’s a hair’s breadth away from head-desking
are we... just gonna... ignore that robbery that was happening on the street a few minutes ago
OKAY WE GET IT YOU’RE HERE CAN YOU GO BACK TO SAVING PEOPLE THEY’RE STILL IN DANGER
HIS CACKLES I CAN’T
alsdkjf;lsjk I feel bad for him but also,,, that transition was gold
but also the face his mom made before he started laughing... she knew he probably wouldn’t get one didn’t she
but why do they assume it won’t happen if they don’t get it by a certain age? they said after that baby people all around the world were getting powers, and showed people of all different ages when they said so. that implies that they got those powers at those ages, after the baby was born but not when they were children themselves? like yeah there’s probably some point where you’d consider them “aged out” and therefore less likely to get a quirk but... she just said he’s in kindergarten.
fourth generation? so the appearance of quirks isn’t a super recent thing then
they can tell if someone is going to manifest a quirk or is starting to by looking at x-rays?
also I know I’m seriously overusing the word “interesting” but
maybe I’m reading too far into this but it’s also kind of interesting that his father and his (current) main antagonist have such similar powers?
OH!!!! lore drop!! kind of!!! that’s a really interesting (wow there it is again) thing they chose to be an indicator for that kind of thing in this universe
*cue izuku contemplating chopping off his pinky toes*
I feel like... all might’s... not gonna be that great....
DEAR LORD HOW MANY TEARS CAN THIS CHILD HOLD IN HIS EYES
also ngl when little deku’s eyes are wide and he doesn’t move he looks really creepy and kind of like a child-sized doll
like pinocchio
how sure are we that deku isn’t made of wood
hmmmmmmmmm I do love this animation
ah Internal Angst™
the fuck is that laughter??
skin suit? no thanks
but guess we aren’t ignoring that earlier scene
yeah all might’s in the city alright
he’s gonna break this up isn’t he
yepppppp that’s him
idk I think alex louise armstrong did it better sorry bud :/
“texas smash”??
he just... punched liquid apart
this kid’s still gonna go flying and hit the ground hard buddy thanks for your help
oh he stuck around
and he’s not hurt too bad
“justicing”
he’s using the city’s sewer system being difficult to navigate as his excuse for why he wasn’t paying attention to keeping bystanders safe like he “usually” does?
the armstrongs do the sparkle better
a;ldkfsdlfls this is really funny to watch ngl
“that’s... a pretty good point.” yeah no shit lmao
I love how he’s just. awkwardly patting deku.
yeah he’s gonna end up accidentally adopting this kid isn’t he
is he hurt?? or did the other guy actually take him over while deku was unconscious??
nah I think he’s just hurt I’m p sure he really did get the guy
but still
that was... a big boom.... that’s not good
he’s just.... abandoning this kid on the rooftop??
but also he probably really does have to go if blood is coming out of his mouth
do heroes in this universe have secret identities?
I feel like yes but also no??
watch as this guy’s like “I don’t have a quirk either” and he’s just. like. an armstrong or something
that or he’s gonna crush this kid’s dreams and be like “no, it’s not possible” and I will be forced to ensure deku becomes the most successful hero ever out of Even More Pure Spite™ even if he idolizes the guy
oh yeah he’s gonna get his dreams crushed
IS ALL MIGHT GONNA VOUCH FOR HIM AND GET HIM AN OPPORTUNITY AT UA BC HE FEELS BAD FOR HIM
hmm this outro kinda slaps too
overall feelin good, like it so far, definitely think I won’t have trouble continuing watching at least for now
