Nim Sketch Dump

as promised, here's a big sketch dump of my sona/oc nim! this isn't gonna be a popular post and I don't care 👍

I didn't originally intend to post these so I've referenced some art works heavily but I've written the name of the artist and I'll type it out too! if any of the artists see my references and is uncomfortable with it please let me know and I'll remove it from this post :D

the first ideas for his "modern design" (he's been around and recycled for a loooong time). the pose in the top right hand corner is taken from @/hiraethminds! they are a very cool artist and inspire me a lot. though the grey-ish tones as the major colour goes away I still really like the centipede tattoo, centipedes are rad as fuck and you can't tell me otherwise

I started to play with the idea of a goat design for him here! which is strange because like. that's not even his main design or motif or anything, I just really liked the idea I guess LMAO also Aurelai belongs to my mate of the same name! she's not on tumblr (yet) but you should still like her because she's cool and awesome

a treat for my qsmp enjoyers!! an unfinished short comic I sketched on the day tallulah lost her first life. the other characters in this are my old ocs, don't even worry about them

I straight up just have the image that inspired me in this one. its by @/sss-eriema and it was a gift from GOD. I was trying to sort out the colours and wanted to incorporate both orange (my favourite colour) and green (my close second favourite colour) but wasn't having much luck. eriema's artwork showed me that it can work in a more muted way and it was very very helpful!!

I started to get the colours down in the bottom right corner!! I really like this sketch page honestly. some bonus self portrait sketches because I wanted to try and put some more of my own features into his design as my sona! also in the notes I was debating between the two eye shapes and I'm still thinking about it. I think the bottom ones fit his personality more and are way more expressive but I just like the Vibe of the top ones

a lot of little drawings with varying styles! also more slimecicle. I am adhding so hard for him right now, it's concerning.

t. this one is the reason for the blood tw in the tags. I just really like drawing blood. as a treat. don't come for me this is my self-indulgent safe space leT ME BE EDGY </3 also the writing is a little hard to read so I've put it in the alt! and more qsmp doodles!

I'm starting to ditch the goat design but this one is my last hurrah. basically settled on the general colour scheme now! and more qsmp stuff. its literally gripped my brain I can't escape it, even in my personal work

then I realised. nimbus-BUGS. bugs! what if bug? this was a really fun study for using more creature features that I wasn't used to! loving the mandibles tbh

my most recent sketch as of posting! I might update this later, but this sketch page is probably the most gratuitously referenced, the expressions in the bottom left and top right were basically ripped from @/microwavablesquid so if you like those please check them out! the basic design structure of the full body was referenced from @/aresonist, retroactively I realised a lot of my design choices. uh. they also made LMAOOO so if my design in General tickles your brain, follow them!

as for his lore and basic information for what he actually Is, uhhh. ??? I don't know HAHAHA he's a little guy! he's creature! is he human? probably not but no one could say for sure! is he bugs? is he 1000 bugs in a trenchcoat? sometimes he's goat I guess??? I can never decide on a design and I think that aids his cryptid-like habits. he shows up sometimes, vibes and can't die in a way that matters! he has a running motif of my fake-God-thing, the centipede ouroboros, so I was like "what if he was a harbinger of the ouroboros, what then." and I like to imagine he has video game logic where when he dies, he basically respawns. also weirdly it's worked out in a way where he has lots of biblical motifs, like my name is literally nimbus, like the halo, and he's a messenger of a god like some fucked up blorbo angel. also lily of the valley is my favourite flower and I like drawing him with it, it also has lots of symbolism in the bible?? wild.

I sincerely doubt it but if you guys have any questions about nim or want to draw him or anything I would Die. I would just keel over. you'd take me out.

You know who I haven't talked about even though they're important to me too? Laëlia, Alex and Adrien.

One time in class I wanted to design a triad because I thought it would be fun and I didn't have a lot of OCs who were dating someone (still don't lol) so I came up with these three. I like to call them the thrio because - listen I was in highschool and I needed a nickname because saying their names all the times was annoying when referring to all of them, so thrio it is. Adrien almost was a girl, but I decided to make him a guy because I wanted to practice drawing guys more :') they're in love they live together and they're my go-to for cute romantic shit that's actually for real romantic (as opposed to Meri and Cilia who are just roommates being roommates)

- Laë is cheerful, positive and energetic. Her laugh is loud, her smiles are blinding, and you can tell when she's invested in something. She claps at the happy moments in movies and she will get you to dance with her at a party at least once.

- Alex is quiet, a bit shy and focused. He seems cold from an outside perspective, but he just doesn't go towards people easily. He has trouble trying out new things but he likes having clear goals to strive for. He's a good cook and doodles flowers when he has the time.

- Adrien is kind, caring and a stable presence. He's the one who brings a bag with a water bottle, snacks, band-aids, tissues, a charger and a pen and paper when going out. He's very chill, knows all his friends' favourite pastries, and there's always space in his cargo pants if your pockets are too small.

- They all have a colour that's "theirs" (as do all of my OCs on some level) : Laë is pink, Alex is blue like his hair, and Adrien is orange.

- When I said I designed them together I wasn't kidding, they match in lots of silly little ways: Laë is more "sun themed" and wears more gold, Alex more moon themed and wears silver, and Adrien is star themed and has more copper tones. Heights as well, Laë is smaller (5'2), Adrien is - also small but in the middle (5'6), and Alex is the tall one (6'2)

- Alex and Laë are childhood friends, they were neighbours as kids and started dating in high school. They met Adrien at uni.

- I do have a few HCs about like, their intimacy, but tbh that's not the most fun aspect. I'm more of a soft domesticity, cuddle pile on the bed person myself so that's the kind of situations I put them in.

- Laë likes to steal Adrien's tops because cute oversized boyfriend shirts, and since Alex does it too sometimes he has a big collection, because otherwise he wouldn't have enough for all of them. They also share jewellery, and Laë does her boyfriends' nails sometimes.

- They're all bi <3

- Alex has a big family (he's the guy whose uncle knows Meredith's mentor), his older sister Emilia has a toddler and there's another sibling but I haven't thought about them yet lol. Adrien is an only child and his parents suck, and Laëlia has a little sister, Ophelia, whom she loves dearly.

- Alex's full name is Alexander Nero, which is bad but he's not the one who got it the worst out of all my OCs so it's fine. His siblings also have greco-roman themed names, I just gotta figure them out lol.

- My favourite soulmate AUs for them are either matching tattoos or "everything I write on my skin appears on theirs", but I don't think about those too much because well, aro. I do have HCs for both those AUs because that would be fun though

Oooo I've got a few!! Most of my irls use two variation of my name: Ily or Ile.

Usually Ily Is for family or closed friends, since It sounds the most sweet n looks like the I love you acronym.

Ile's more for Friends . Like the name ud scream in the supermarket if you lost your child

For a time period I went by Creep, which Is a nickname coming from my old yt channel. I mostly used It w italian peeps so I didn't think much of It until I came here😭

For photography: took a lot of depressy walks around my lil town in the country. A friend and I used to walk around taking pictures during our high school breaks too.

For painting/drawing: was always into it tbh. Would draw or find any reason to pick up a thing that can leave a mark and just doodle. Got into painting a lil later in middle school.

Nail art: teeny canvas and it made my man hands look pretty every now and then lol

Hmmm sometimes complete silence tbh. Especially when I paint. I can’t be jamming to songs or I muck up and cry xD mmm but if it’s for simbs or photography I have music 24/7. YouTube videos sometimes if I’m editing something.

if you go on my art blog pictures of him are tagged #ap voider!!! he is a purple halibot/a violibot and he's at like??? a low ranking captain kind of position. during the plot of another planet, which is what I Call this set of ocs, he's sent as part of a mission to kidnap important management figures for a company based on saturn, who have significant investments in major trade in the solar system, which is the location of the next lep'ridae invasion (halibots being robots that work for the lepridaes). he's responsible for leading the charge on andru, who is some kind of up and coming middle management and speculated to be important to the future of the company, however once on the journey back to base, there is a mild emergency and voider, not being used to being on a ship of this size/style, decides the best option is to use an escape pod/small ship to get him and andru out of there, and to head to mercury, which is an old lep'ridae base, so that he can send a message to his higher ups to come pick him up. along the way they meet judi, an engineer from neptune, and roban, a space pirate from mars. shenanigans ensue until they get to mercury and then the plot hits you in the face with feels

also these two end up boyfriends did I mention that????

anyway. voider is SPOILERS actually technically more of a cyborg??? sad stuff happens on mercury man im :'(

post-mercury he gets a scar and a scarf but he MIGHT also get some other details I just need to think them over. for now have these doodles I did in college

explaining his transgenderisms in detail requires I talk about major ap spoilers, HOWEVER it's all planned out so he kind of. realises he was trans The Whole Time, so we get the coming to terms with being trans thing without having to spend half the time misgendering and deadnaming him, thank God.

he's also very very gay tbh. he's very cocky but he's a bit all bark and no bite. all the halibots have a bit of a 20's - 40's aesthetic going on, and so he talks like an old timey bbc news presenter and uses bits of old slang. he thinks he's hot shit and he's not really but he is in my heart I love him 🥺🥺🥺

he LOVES the smell of chocolate and generally loves cute deserts and makes andru buy loads of them so he can feed his organic boyfriend cute things. he's infodump and stimming friends with roban and the pair of them generally snoop on andru and judi doing stupid stuff together. he's honestly Lovely but he IS very mischievous and a huge bastard. if you've ever seen that skit about the guy who moves into an apartment and instead of filling his toiletry box with. toiletries he just fills it with rubber ducks and it just gets Worse, that's voider. just good old bastardly fun

hes Very gay for andru but kind of doesn't realise it and andru only comes to terms with his sexuality over the course of the series, so the two are absolute Idiots when it comes to asking each other out, but they're very cute together imo

tbf tho andru is like. Considerably Short compared to the rest of the main ap cast, who are all over 6 foot compared to his 5'6-5'7 kind of height

btw it's not an eye! it's a black screen that kind of functions as an eye

I ALSO FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT ALIS who is an enby yellow halibot/goldibot and kind of started out as a self insert to drop into the background as voider's old boss but is now kind of their own character with Issues™ projected onto them.

halibots come in eight colours depending on ranking (green/cyan/blue/purple/pink/red/orange/yellow from lowest to highest ranking) and there is also One white halibot called Lancer who works Directly for the leader of the lep'ridaes. the last two significant halibots in the series are chessi, a pink halibot/rosibot who is like voider's old co-worker, and one I can't really talk about much because SPOILERS

i'm mostly interested from when u started drawing (again)??i think u mentioned in like 2016 or something about the loomis method is how u started drawing faces?? i can't remember much but just from that time to now 🥺 and like talking abt what u did and how u've improved over the years and what you've used and stuff 🥺 if thats alright?

I can def include that in a video!! Thank you for letting me know! Tbh I don’t really focus on art videos much anymore so I might not get to this until I have a speedpaint, so in the meantime if you’re interested:

I did start art in 2016. I wouldn’t really consider my doodles from a child a part of my art journey, but perhaps that’s because I was horrifically insecure about my art as a child (and still am because I never felt like a “real artist” << this imposter syndrome only really fizzled when I moved to university a few months ago). 

I did start drawing faces with the Loomis method. I no longer use this as I sort of know the face well enough to “intuit” where things will go (this is genuinely just because of practice). The Loomis method is my #1 recommendation when it comes to art, specifically if you want to draw portraits. But tbh, any resource that shows you how to break down the proportions of the face is great (people all have their own variations). I didn’t one day decide not to use the method, it just sort of happened after constant sketching practice.

My art didn’t really got “good” until 2018 (aka I think pieces I made then age well now). 

All I did to improve was draw? I didn’t have a routine (some people sketch every day, I just sketched whenever, maybe a few times a month). I don’t draw often anymore (maybe once a month or less), but have retained most of my skills from my years of practice (tho the more practice the better). Something important to note: I strongly believe my improvement happened so quickly because I focused on realism. The moment I started studying the realistic human face rather than stylizing, my art improved exponentially.

In terms of tools, for digital art I’ve always used the same stuff: my Huion H610 Pro tablet and Krita. I now block in big shapes (all my paintings start in black and white) with an “oil” brush (sort of my replacement for the Loomis method) just to get proportions semi down, and then go in and refine each element of the face with an airbrush (right eye first, then the nose, mouth, left eye, and hair etc). I then go in for a final render with that same oil brush, then pull it into Photoshop and use blend modes to colour (the colouring changes for every painting, but I mostly use the colour, multiply and soft light blend modes). Then I’ll edit the painting with adjustment curves (if necessary) and retouch in colour (if necessary).

For traditional, I’ve always used a Canson XL mixed media sketchbook (the little blue one). Even though I mostly only use pencil, this sketchbook is like, always on sale, so I always just get it lol. I draw mostly in mechanical pencil, sometimes in colerase pencils. I’ve recently gotten into gouache (I have the cheap reeves set), and would love to do more watercolour despite not being great at it lol. I don’t really have a “medium” per se. I kinda play around with everything.

Left: I take on the challenge to draw like 15 characters for my sister in a month lol (this really got me comfortable with the digital medium). Tried out a more painterly style than the above of Roosevelt. Middle: Experimenting with values/colour. Right: Getting comfortable in my new digital style. My style looked like this for a few months.

hello, it’s me again. i tired myself out with haisley’s so jaq’s if going to be considerably shorter. let’s go. 

BIO.  aaaahhhhhhhhhh shhiiittttt *begins understanding things*

jacques daingerfield was born in france to two very average parents. like his mother was a teacher and his father was a financial analyst. nothing wild or crazy going on there, and to top it off he was the middle child, and well, you can tell. 

he has four siblings. he was the third kid, and well, he spent most of his childhood fighting for any kind of attention, usually by making inappropriate little jokes or you know, fart noises. yes his parents were generally exasperated with him, but that behavior made sure they paid attention to him. and honestly that was all jacques wanted. 

again, jacques had a pretty average upbringing. he went to school, he was actually pretty popular among his peers despite being so annoying (definitely very unpopular amongst his teachers for generally that class clown that sat in the back and always interrupted), and he excelled academically without really trying too much. well, in every subject but english funnily enough. jaq always struggled in english, which is why it was incredibly ironic that when his parents separated they decided to move to uk with his father. jacques was ten at the time, and he still doesn’t understand the decision.

so yes, jacques was the kid in class with the weird name and weirder accent who could barely communicate with his classmates. it didn’t take long for them to stop really trying to pronounce ‘jacques’ properly. jacques became jack without much input on his part, and by the time jacques had got enough of a handle on the english language to correct them the americanized name had already stuck. even at nine jacques was smart enough to know that insisting on the correct french pronunciation of his name just kind of made him sound like a pretentious french asshole, so instead he spun it. he embraced it. started signing all of his papers and assignments with ‘jaq’ with a q like it was his brand or something. even as a child jaq will give himself credit for being clever af. 

it actually worked pretty well honestly. the older jaq got the more he grew into himself, and the more comfortable he got with the english language. honestly a lot of how jaq learned english was through video games and youtube videos and cartoons, like those were some of his go to resources. spent a lot of time playing games with strangers and tested his english out with colourful trash talk. actually started his first ever youtube channel was basically that as just a way to practice his english a bit. all he did on there was play video games, and honesty he didn’t even show his face. the channel wasn’t that popular, but he had fun making it. 

jaq on the other hand had gained popularity by the time he was in middle school. granted, that popularity was mostly due to the fact that he had a popular older brother and sister, was french and therefore ‘cute’ (jaq didn’t pretend to understand how girls brains worked then, and he still doesn’t now) and his family always had the newest gaming system at their household, and even then it wasn’t wild popularity. but it was enough that barely anyone teased him for his thick french accent anymore, and yk what jaq would take it. he weirdly got even more popular with the guys in his grade when they found out about his youtube channel. they found it funny, and they would generally watch his videos and come tell him about their favourite parts later, ask him about how he got past a certain level or learned a certain cheat. jaq soaked up their admiration like a sponge, right into his ego. they were the beginning of jaq getting the big head he proudly sports today. 

that said for most second form jaq’s youtube channel was just a hobby. something he did for fun. like i said earlier, jaq actually did really well in school and his parents always expected him to follow in his father’s footsteps and go into something in business. after all, it would be an easy transition with both french and english under his belt. they knew he would excel. 

but then he met madi. and somehow the two started doing videos together for fun, and it quickly expanded into something a lot bigger. something that jaq wouldn’t have even dreamed of doing before. suddenly the picture perfect future he had planned for himself just seemed boring in comparison to what he and madi had going on, and so jaq easily picked that instead. his parents weren’t all that happy about it, of course, after all jaq had full scholarships to some schools just waiting for him to accept and he ignored all of them in favour of making videos of him playing games online. they still don’t understand, but jaq doesn’t really need them too. he’s happy with what he’s doing and he figures he can always go into business when he’s old and boring. 

he moved out of his parents house straight into an apartment with madi when things between them started getting really tough. they can’t really speak without the whole ‘we’re so disappointed in you’ conversation coming up so jaq doesn’t really speak to them unless he has to. both of his older siblings went into business like their parents wanted, and his younger siblings are on the same path. his little sister wants to be just like him though, and that warms his heart tbh. 

has come to TWENTIES to have a good time! wants to break into the acting industry like dylan o’brien and maybe show his parents that a ‘real’ career can come from something like this. his parents begged him not to come on this show and embarrass them so that is definitely what he’s about to do. 

HEADCANNONS. there are a lot of people who need to shut up.  not me though 

thinks he’s funny! sometimes he is

fun fact, made his instagram handle as a joke, much like awkwafina. was just supposed to a little dig about how many times he has to say ‘jack with a q’ whenever someone spells his name. but now the dangerous q is his brand, and just finds it really dumb and funny. 

a bit of a kleptomaniac. will swipe something he thinks is cool mostly just to do it. has very little impulse control. loves to pull pranks and generally make trouble, but not in a way that will ever actually hurt anybody because he’s not a whole idiot. not the biggest fan of cops. 

is an artist. will spray paint your walls and probably has spray painted the walls of his apartment. will doodle weird things all over napkins or receipts or whatever he can get his hands on. has drawn out little video game characters he wants to be in his future games, and actually is considering going to school for a video game programming degree just for that. the funny thing is with his grades he could probably do it. is teaching himself coding in the mean time. 

 the type of person to start drumming on the counter or desk with his hands or like pencils or pens when he’s bored. will make up fun little raps on the spot. 

incredibly intelligent but doesn’t like to talk about it. would much rather act dumb than act like he has any braincells. he doesn’t want to give anyone expectations. 

all the youtube success has definitely gone to his head in the way that?? he just thinks they’re untouchable like he cannot compute the concept of their channel failing or their future endeavors failing. definitely thinks that TWENTIES will lead to much bigger things for them. will walk into his future acting auditions like he’s the shit. 

an introvert with extrovert tendencies. needs to be by himself to chill out and recharge but can like work a room honestly. can make friends pretty much everywhere he goes. a bit of a charmer when he wants to be. 

a smoker unfortunately. also a bit of a stoner. definitely has a juul on him at all times, like i said he tends to keep it behind his ear and then be like ???? where’s my juul. 

needs glasses but refuses to wear them. is very stubborn about it tbh. does not want to get contacts because he hates the idea of putting something into his eye. so you can catch him squinting sometimes like a fool. 

one of the first things he treated himself to with his first big youtube check like outside of rent was a tattoo! it’s on his ribs and it’s just a drawing he did himself but he loves it and it was the start of an addiction. he has about five. also has a few helix and orbital piercings on his left ear. 

another muse of mine with a tiktok, but jaq just uses his to make music for the most part. will turn the mickey mouse club house theme song into bars! (if you’ve seen that tiktok,,,, ily) 

a big nerd. reads comic books. watches anime. will get very reasonably upset about the avatar the last airbender movie whenever it’s brought up.

can cook really well, but whenever he does it it’s pure chaos. like julian/brad leone in the kitchen for sure. but the food comes out tasting really good, so???

is jewish af. knows a bit of hebrew and a bit of yiddish because of his grandparents mostly. is kind of ??? a lot more lenient with things now that he’s not around his parents as often i’m ngl. 

brings his ds everywhere and you can literally catch him on the bus vaping and playing animal crossing because he hasn’t bothered to get a american license yet 

is always willing to take a picture with a subscribers and they’re always the weirdest thing. there are pictures of subscribers like pretending to stab him in the eye. prom pose pictures with subscribers. the weirder the better tbh

has gone to vidcon a few years in a row, always has the wildest time. there is video footage of him waking up in some strangers bathtub with a feather boa around his neck. it’s probably on instagram.

Sonictober day 1 (belatedly)- Rings! I don’t think Turbo has ever seen a power ring or even knows what they’re useful for tbh. I actually started doing inktober/sonictober by accident- I’ve just been out so much that drawing in my sketchbook has been happening, and my current hyper fixation is sonic stuff already oops. I think day 1 was rings- I’ve seen at LEAST two different ‘sonictober’ inktober promt sets so I'm probably just gonna pick my faves day to day if I decide to take part!

(This was actually only a doodle a few cm big on my page, so it didn’t take being scanned super well. To liven it up I threw on some filters and rough colour in photoshop.)

Tbh I'm analyzing your art for my visual arts class and I was wondering if you could talk about how you came up with some of the designs for your characters and what has changed over the years? Maybe a little bit about how you change their designs for different AUs?

oh!! This is such a cool question BUT FIRST, THANK YOU for choosing to analyze my art for your class!!! CUT FOR LOTS OF TEXT

Hmm I don’t really have a logical way of designing my characters tbh LOL... often I start off with a basic skeleton of their personality, then I’ll doodle a bunch of different ideas until I find the one that I feel fits best! I base a lot of my character design around personality, so I often change my characters’ design somewhat as their personalities develop. I don’t think they’ve changed too much overall, it’s more of me getting a better handle on how I want to portray them. Something I think about a lot too is their closet!! Bc I think clothes say a lot about a character! For Tyler, I wanted him to be confident and easy-going, charming and a little of a show off. He doesn’t mind standing out, likes being outdoors, is active. SO I gave him obnoxiously bright orange hair, messy hair that can’t be tamed LIVELY like he is, but overall well-groomed... dresses casually for the most part, not afraid to show skin AND DIMPLES bc i wanted him to have the kind of smile that draws people in?? Doesn’t like restricting clothes or too many layers, doesn’t mind bright colors.... WHEREAS FOR FAY, he’s meant to be reserved, clean-cut and organized, doesn’t like to draw attention to himself, practical --> so neutral coloured clothes, nothing flashy or unnecessary... I wanted him to be small but intimidating, so he’s bony with sharp eyes.. and I wanted him to be more androgynous looking. Emmett is meant to look friendly and kind, so I wanted his features to be softer and rounder, no hair in his eyes... but also he opposite of obnoxious LOL kinda hunched in and low key uncertain. For AUs I try to keep all of this in mind when designing their outfits! So tyler’s outfits tend to be skin tight/ shows skin (ALL THE CROP TOPS) / Only 1-2 layers. But someone like JC would be more covered up. Jc wears the same clothes in like almost every AU  because he likes to be in the background, so he dresses like a plain office worker all the time LOL In more fancy AUs though I try to give Jc more of an intimidating look? He’s meant to be someone who looks scary but isn’t really, so I like to give him fitted jackets, dark colours, stuff that emphasizes his broad shoulders. And for younger Jc who’s more shy and jittery.. I’d give him baggy clothes that he can hide in. Over-sized everything on him to emphasize his awkwardness and discomfort with himself.With Jc.. I always try to cover up his front and arms design wise, all with v simple pieces to not stand out E.g.

I’LL FINISH OFF with cyrus bc hes my newest oc!! and he’s changed the most I think, design wise

at the start I didn’t really have an idea of who cyrus is, and i just had this vague idea of a quiet guy with curly hair. HE WAS JUST A NORMAL GUY at this time and I was still playind around with hair + eye colors. Later on I decided I wanted a more mysterious looking person... the kind of guy that blends in but on a second look you’re like h e y he looks like he’s PLANNING TO DO SOMETIHNG I BETTER KEEP an eye on him!!!!!! I was thinking dark hair... maybe black.. but I thought dark blue was more interesting iwthout being too in your face. He was initially more serious personality wise.. but I had too many serious characters so I went for something more lighthearted . I wanted him to be (exaggeratedly) expressive so I gave him high arched brows... DEEP BLACK EYES that are subtly not human... and half lidded eyes so he’d look like he’s constantly judging. A very OUTlandish person who can also look very normal if you take away all the sparkle and bling. OK I THINK IM GOING OFF TOPIC AND RAMBLING but i hope that helps u out a bit in terms of what goes through my head when I design my OCs/ outfits for my OCs! Honestly I don’t think I’m always 100% successful at portraying all these things in my chars when I draw them, so idk if it would even be something you see in my doodles. I GUESS!! THE GIST OF IT IS: it’s 80% based off their personality and 20% random designs with no reasoning behind them whatsover haha LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED MORE or something more specific!!! rip that’s all I write too... tbh I used to write original fiction before but I find myself much less constricted by fanfic? I can explore the characters here more than I can in original fiction where worldbuilding takes most effort

oh definitely paper! if I could I’d buy printed out fanfic too!

I was about 12 I think? it all started with harry potter, like everything else has, and I regret not a second of it!

sometimes when i get very excited about what i’m writing i’ll tell my fandom friends about the specific AU that i’m writing about but in terms of reading the full length fic, i don’t have anyone that i let read before anyone else. it’ll be on ao3 for everyone at the same time.

my desk, my pc. I can write on my phone but I like to edit as I go and it’s hard to do on the phone.

for fun, but with the aim of possible future publication maybe?

always computer. i have only recently begun writing fics on my phone because i’ve been traveling a lot and i don’t always have my laptop on my person, but it’s still much more comfortable to sit down and type on a proper keyboard.

at my uni, yes. and it completely sucked bc they didn’t teach anything, just had us write random shit for 3 years so eh

everything? like, any random thing or thought I’m instantly trying to weave into my writing, turn it into a prompt. every new experience is just a basis for me to write on.

oh wow ok this is a difficult one bc I don’t think I even have a wip 7 pages long //sweats let me see... aha, okay, I found one! from back in march when I asked people to send me over some numbers for one of those writing memes and @theexitgarden I believe (??) sent me the prompt “I don’t think anyone could be as lovely as you” for victuuri and I kind of got a blind!victor au from it?? wELP here’s the fragment of it:

His music is vibrant in a way that he couldn't play on his piano alone and the clap of the blades that he can hear from the speakers of his TV makes him only more certain – this boy, Yuuri Katsuki, is skating to the sound of Victor's soul as if it's his own.

It’s that time of year again, time to look over the last twelve months of creative productivity! This year was a very on-and-off one, with many months of next to nothing and a few months where I was super busy with animation work! Read on for full details on each month (with links to things in bold)!

January:

Started the year mainly keeping myself busy with gaming livestreams on my Twitch channel. Near the end of the month me and the rest of the Lucky Hit crew made the tough decision to retire the YouTube channel so we could focus on our individual Twitch channels. We did come back to the channel for the odd podcast and salt or hype stream throughout the year, along with some backups of gaming streams from Twitch. Lucky Hit was a massive part of my life for the last nine years but we all agreed it was time to move on.

Art wise I was commissioned by PCwrzd to make a set of emotes for his Dreamcastic Channel (7 made in Jan, with an extra 8th in Feb), one of which can even be bought on a t-shirt! I also started on a Dreamcast related experiment...

February:

Most of this month was gobbled up by a fan translation project for the game Bokomu no Tatsujin on the Dreamcast that I on a whim made a start on despite no real knowledge of Japanese! I mostly used translation sites and software to roughly figure how the text then put my own spin on the games quirky script. 

The game also has a lot of big cartoon font work so I decided to re-do these hand drawn! The first (and so far only) release on the project came out in March. This release has pretty much all the in-game text translated, only thing missing is subtitles for the cut scenes which tbh is a task far too big for lil’ ol’ me. Check out his article I wrote on the Dreamcast Junkyard about the process and I also talked about it on a YouTube video in October!

There were also more gaming streams throughout this month, with help from my newly acquired OSSC and GDEMU!

March:

I really got trapped in an artist block for most of this year up to this point. So after another month of mostly streaming games I decided to finally do another art stream and out popped this quick art based on early Fantasy Zone concept art! Soon after I finally did a full-colour illustration of Drillbot ViVi’s little sister ReV, an emote for my Spelunky streams and a Phantasy Star Online commission for PCwzrd!

April:

Despite that rebound into making art in the last week of March I almost immediately fell into another art block for most of this month! I made birthday card art for CherryT, doodled a new OC and did more game streams. That’s about it! Wheels were turning at the end of the month for something BIG, however!

May:

So May and June were quite possibly two of the busiest months in my working life! To start with I worked on an animated project called ‘Annabelle’s Journey’, with characters based on a child’s drawings with a simple scribbly style on top of photos of note paper. While only one out of eight chapters are available to watch publicly, this was the longest piece of animation I have ever worked on, clocking in at 7 minutes and 20 seconds, with only one month to work on it!

To make matters worse at the very same time lockdown ended and I returned to my cinema job with half of our staff quit, meaning I had to somehow juggle the animation and lots of shifts! It was a rough time with very little sleep, but the animated short was really fun and one of my proudest projects!

June:

Previously unseen concept art for the ‘Not on your telly’ intro.

With the money from the Annabelle project I finally upgraded from my old Wacom Intuos 4 to a XP-Pen 15.6″ Pro....a tablet with a screen on it! I was expecting a steep learning curve but I was surprised how quickly I got used to it, which is just as well as another animation project with a short deadline landed on my lap: an intro to a online variety show called Not On Your Telly! This was a mix of doodly drawn bodies and photo based heads lip synced to lyrics. It’s only 28 seconds but I also had about a week to make it! 

I also made a new animation showreel, because...well *points at the above two months*

July:

Boy did I need a break from drawing after all that! So outside of a Worms commission for PCwzrd I did exactly that and just did game livestreams throughout July!

August:

This month was very, very busy at work so most of my spare time was spent resting off. I made time for a couple game livestreams including a seven hour one about SAGExpo 2021.

September:

A pretty active month when it comes to drawing...for myself for a change! This included five character pieces celebrating the release of the new Wario Ware, a fan art of Amy Rose (been yonks!) and an illustration of ViVi and Rev together. I also spent an absurd amount of time making this page of my website organized.  I managed to hit 500 followers on Twitter, so I did an OC art raffle to celebrate! The winner was revealed in...

October:

Twas a good end of the year for YouTube stuff!

The result of the Twitter OC art raffle was this illustration of Farnoggin’s character Drex Apex. This was livestreamed and it gave me the idea to do a sped-up timelapse of the whole process, something I haven’t done for years! This made me wanna start uploading semi-regular videos on my AnimatedAF YouTube channel again, using moments from my art livestreams as a basis.

I celebrated my 1 year anniversary on Twitch with a silly doodle, cut together videos about me talking about the times I did work for SEGA and the BBC, and reuploaded some videos/streams from Lucky Hit that were not strictly gaming related. Speaking of Lucky Hit, more gaming streams were backed up there including this years Sonic Hacking Contest and 30 Years of Toejam and Earl.

Finally I did another commission for PCwzrd, this time for a parody trading card of Ryo Ha’nuk’i.

November:

A very quiet month for art, with only one fad-chasing illustration to speak of. I also did a bunch of doodling in the game ART SQOOL on stream which I then cut down into a let’s play for my Youtube channel.

December:

Literally the first day of December I came down with the you-know-what and was shut in for ten days. Once I started to recover from that I got back to work on more time-lapse videos of art streams from last year and a couple more reuploads from Lucky Hit, one of which I illustrated a new thumbnail for.

I also made birthday card art for my mum of her Wurlitzer jukebox and a new Christmas illustration featuring my OCs and an elf and toys. It hasn’t been released just yet as of writing but I also made an OC secret santa over on Newgrounds. Oh, and one of those Art vs Artist things if that counts for something.

Noh Taehyun Soulmate Au

First december upload and first Taehyun~

 • When you turned 13 your soulmate sign finally, finally, came into play after years of you waiting,  • Staring at your friends tattoos/words or sympathising with friends who couldn’t see colour, or knew they where going to lose it,  • You loved what your soulmate key was going to be, but you hated the waiting, impatient from a young age,  • But when you reached 13 you knew, now, whatever you wrote on your skin would turn up on your soulmates,  • You waited for a while first, a bit apprehensive and unsure,  • Although you knew this was fate; that most Soulmate signs where perfectly true, you still slightly doubted how this whole thing could possibly work,  • So you waited, jittery about making a move,  • Until you were sat in a class at school, trying to wrap your head around multi-step quadratics when you look down to your book in dispare, but find notes on your hand being quickly scrawled,  • You don’t understand what the equation they’re doing is, or how your soulmate is seemingly easily breezing through this maths, but you stare in wonder as ink seems to grow from your own skin,  • It hypnotizes you, his letters and numbers short and precises and sprouting from one another in a mesmerising pattern, you trace the appearing ink with a finger,  • Once the writing stops, the urge to write back is overwhelming, you stay back, afraid to make a fool of yourself, make your soulmate hate you, before even meeting them,  • So you bring your own pen to your skin, slowly, carefully drawing a perfect smiley face next to the complete working you, a small thumbs up next to it,  • You watch, anticipating whether they’ve seen it, how they’ll react, will they reply?  • Another, smaller, smiling face appears next to yours, a nod to you that they’ve received your graffiti, but it still makes your heart hammer and a smile stretch wide across your face,  • And that was the blossoming start of a relationship quite different to most,  • Normally, when people with this soulmate key turn 13 they immediately write to each other on their skin,  • Asking names and locations and where to meet, usually meeting up within a week,  • But you’ve never been one to go for the normal route, and it actually takes the two of you a few years to Actually meet, and even that’d be by accident,  •  You’re too shy, always afraid that your soulmate wouldn’t like you, and he must feel the same,  • Because you draw sprawling doodles, intricate and detailed and beautiful with your biro in your spare time, and your soulmate sometimes adds bits on themselves,  • They’re not great at drawing, but you still find it utterly adorable,  • Your skin becomes a canvas for both of you, your different writing and coloured pens lacing together smoothly, and even when you run out of skin you find more space on a different arm, different leg,  • Through the few years they grow more and more artsy and delicate and beautiful, learning how to draw with each other,  • Your parents would scream at you for drawing on yourself but sOuLMaTeS,  • You write notes to each other, hidden,  • You wake up to ‘have a good day’  • 'Good luck on your test today’ after having jotted the date down quickly one night,  • ’ Happy birthday’  • 'Today will be a good day, smile a lot’  • Hidden on your neck or behind your knee or even just in your wrist,  • Lmao u cringy as hell but do you care??? Nope,  • You sometimes ask him for help with maths, equations written on your forearm with multiple question marks, to which he shows you step by step how to complete it,  • Or he writes essay questions, and you write your ideas down to help, or you help to describe covalent bonding in atoms,  • lmao You barely know each other but you bond over how hard school is,  • Sometimes one of you get edgy and ask each other questions and it’s like a huge event okay,  • 'What’s your favourite colour?’  • 'Do you like dogs?’  • (A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION)  •  And then over time you get braver,  • 'What’s your name?’  • 'Do you have and sibling?’  • 'How old are you?’  • Like it actually hurts how slow the two of you go and the stupid questions but you’re fine with the pace, and by the looks of it, Taehyun,  • A name you’re now in love with,

  • Is fine with it as well,  • And not to mention all your friends are completely done with you and how star struck you are with this stranger and how slow you move they just wanna find out WhO iT IS so you can stop being so dreamy and Actually spend some quality time with your soulmate,  • Because despite having to wait a while for your sign, it’s one of the best keys out there, making it very easy for you to find your Soulmate,  • So while you stay at your basic level of sweet, fluffy communication, everyone else is dying for u,  • And you become known at school for your soulmate sign,

New opponents to try new skills on???  New people to trade game play tactics with??  • You all volleyball nerds Honestly,  • So to pass the time on the bus ride there you doodle down the length of your leg, after no time at all you see another black line join your doodles, a content smile etching itself onto your face,  • You spend a decent amount of time catching up with everyone from the other teams in person, sharing gossip and new matches you watched and being goofy,  • If you’re new to the meetups the rule is you have to play a match against the second newest so everyone can check you out and whatever first yanno, just a right of passage kind of thing,  • So you settle next to some friends on the floor, ready to analyse everything about the new team,

 • Oh how different the match goes,  • The team walks on and it’s when the whistle goes that you notice it,  • The setter of the new team has black sprawling patterns across his left leg, peaking out from his knee pads and shorts, spiraling down his legs in loops and intertwining vines,  • You watch his set, his throws always a little to the left but nothing uncontrollable,  • This guy was your Taehyun, the guy you seemed to have known forever, however untrue that was,  • The guy that made you grin and left cute messages for you to wake up to, your cute fluffy ball,  • Now stood on a court, legs strong and face serious, except for a smile ghosting the sides of his face,  • Your plan on analysing the team went out the window rip,  • But you watch as his team revolved heavily around him, you watch how his eyes scan the court to decide the next steps, effortlessly leading his team,  • You watch his tell tale signs, how his eyes flicker when he’s going to dump, how he signals to his team who he’s going to pass to next,  • Normally you couldn’t pick any of this up, but the boy with ink appearing across his skin, something he obviously proudly shows the world, who makes your heart race at a glance draws your eyes to even his smallest of motion,  • And you’re not the only one who has noticed, in fact everyone has,  • All of the teams at the meet know you well, one of the gatherings’ longest members and someone who nearly always had ink appearing on their skin for everyone to see,  • So as they watch the game, they also send smiles to you, hitting your back in congratulations or hugging you from the side having matched your legs together,  • In fact the only people not to notice seem to be the new team oops,  • You always thought you’d panic, meeting Taehyun, but even just looking at him brings a peace to your heart and a reassuring warmth,  • So when the game ends, with their lose,  • (but that’s chill because the newbie always always lose their first match DW),  • While you have no idea what to say, you don’t feel panic,  • Everyone disperses to play a few organised matches before dinner and then to the dorms, but you wonder towards the new group with a few others to welcome them to the training camp,  • “Taehyun”  • The name rolls off your tongue smoothly as if it was made only for you as his eyes snap to you, smiling in greeting,  • He’s shook™ for a second, before his eyes drop to look you up and down in questioning, where they stay glued to your legs,  • I mean it sounds really weird but it’s not I swear,  •"Y/N?“  • Your name has never sounded so right, so made for you than in that moment, his dark eyes raising to meet yours in question, you get the pleasure of watching it click in his eyes as his face floods with how you feel,  • He wastes no time in pulling you into a tight hug, hands flat on your back as if checking if you’re there for real,  • You copy him, feeling his warmth, your soulmate, under your palms and everything seems right, in your heart and out, and you don’t know how you lived without this sense of fullness you had before,  • And damn if you guys don’t proceed to be the cutest couple at the camp, if not ever tbh,

what’s your favourite flower/tree/plant? I love nature wow. My favorite tree is definitely a Weeping Cherry Tree or Willow. My favorite flowers are sunflowers and roses! Plants in general, I just really love cacti? It’s a product of having family I adore in Arizona haha
