i don't like the growing opinion that people are being 'too hard' on deku for his failing to save shigaraki.

i've seen quite a few people complaining that a lot of the bnha-critical crowd are being too mean to deku for getting tomura killed, arguing that it isn't really his fault, and that hes a 16 year old child soldier who's been failed by almost every adult in his life, why should we be putting all of this on his shoulders? hes just a kid after all?

and the truth is, they're right. deku IS a 16 year old boy whos had the fate of the world thrust on his shoulders. but the story itself just plainly refuses to acknowledge this.

the narrative doesn't acknowledge how fucked up having a school that trains literal children how to be combo cop-celebrities is. it only tentatively acknowledges the fact that a universe having combo cop-celebrities is fucked up, and even then the only people who ever point this out are antagonists, who are portrayed and treated in-universe as untrustworthy. the narrative doesn't care how fucked up dekus circumstances are. the narrative treats deku like hes a fucking messiah here to touch the hearts of the evil depressed villains with his magical empathetic heart of gold before they get blown up or just sent to fucking superhell for daring to challenge the status quote.

deku isn't a person. he's barely even a fucking character at this point. he's a plot device, and a mouth piece for the objectively shitty themes bnha is trying to spout. the themes that tell you that if you're mistreated by society and want to do something about it, you're a villain. that disrupting the status quote and refusing to repent to some random teenage boy spouting empty platitudes at you means you deserve to get sent to fucking superhell. the themes that portray people fighting for civil change as mass murdering supervillains. the themes that look the audience dead in the eye and can call deku the greatest hero to ever live.

deku, who barely spared a second thought to lady nagant telling him the truth about the hero commission. who spouts meaningless platitudes about heroism and morality at nagant, and aoyama, and toga and shigaraki, when even the thought that he should question the world around him comes up. who's constantly talked about as this truly kind, empathetic person, but hasn't spared an empathetic thought to literally anyone who is classified as a villain. who listened to every authority figure around him except the ones who asked him to question his worldview. who saw la bravas tears, shigarakis various breakdowns, himikos plead for understanding, chisakis catatonic state, lady nagants truth, and barley batted a fucking eye. deku, who killed tomura shigaraki.

people don't criticize deku for failing shigaraki because they just hate deku. people criticize deku because of what he represents. because hes a mouthpiece for the atrocious morals and themes of this ideologically rotten manga. because any character he had was chopped up to bits in favor of the incomplete husk we have now. people criticize deku because hes the main character of my hero academia. theres nothing more damning then that.

SAGAU x Reader

SAGAU but you lose interest in genshin, moving to other fandoms. Desperate, they try to intervene.

Little heads up: characters may be OOC due to me just getting into SAGAU after not visiting genshin since Sumeru. Anything past that will be heavily OOC. I'm gonna use CRK for this cause I've been HOOKED to it lately.

You were the divine, the creator in their eyes. You helped them get through their problems with minimal effort. Even if you did it through the body of the Traveler and the other vessels, they knew deep down it was your doing. You loved them wholeheartedly, and in turn, they loved you back.

But eventually, they noticed your influence weakening. Even your most favoured vessels, the ones you put the most effort into making them stronger as if they were your own children, could barely feel your divine presence dwindling slowly but surely.

At first, it started off with you spending less time influencing their actions. You still fought bosses and helped others, but they could feel that you're spending less time with them. They rationalized it, saying that the creator is probably busy.

Time passes and nothing good happened. You mostly just did your daily commissions and logged off and called it a day, if you even bothered to open Genshin. They all wondered what happened to you. Did they do something wrong? Did they fail to appease you? What's the reason for your sudden apathy?

The more faithful ones wondered if they haven't been praying hard enough. The Archons wondered if they've been failing to do their duties or haven't been putting in enough effort to appease you.

They turned to the Traveler, your first vessel, for answers. They wanted to know why you've been neglecting them. They want to know why so they can do something about it. If you've lost the motivation to see them everyday, then clearly something must not be to your liking, right? But even the reason for your absence is unknown to the Traveler.

As an attempt to appease you, they did everything in their power to make you happy. You notice how your inbox is always filled with offerings, your rewards plentiful. Your daily commissions getting way more rewards then normal, how odd...

Even your gacha pulls have been getting luckier to the point of being almost anomalous. Any weapon or character banner you wished for, you practically got something good guaranteed regardless of if you do a single or a ten pull.

But still, they didn't know why you didn't put in the amount of effort you used to put in. That was until they heard your very own voice. You were pulling for one of the newly released characters' banner when, much to no surprise, you got them in less than 10 pulls. After your excitement died down, they heard bits of your mumbling.

"I've been really lucky with my pulls, huh? If only I had the same luck with Eternal Sugar's banner... I've spent about 100 pulls by now. Maybe I should close Genshin for now and farm?"

Eternal Sugar? That was a new name to them. Their curiosity piqued. What exactly was Eternal Sugar? Was that something important to you? Many of them debated on what exactly you were talking about. The more curious vessels of yours, having heard some new information for the first time, decided to try and figure the truth out.

With their combined efforts to bring their creator's attention back to Teyvat, they peered into what you were going to do, wanting to know more. What they saw, however, caused many reactions, mainly negative. They didn't like how you were paying attention to a completely different world and leaving theirs alone for who knows how long. They were the first, and they intended to keep it that way.

After a few loading screens, they were greeted with another world, one of your creation. They have got to admit, it was breathtaking, especially for something made by their creator. But when they saw how you treated literal cookies with more attention, they grew envious. Their love, being given to other beings? That was unacceptable to them. So, they decided to pull some strings.

They rigged your pulls, broke down some of your cookies' upgrades without your knowledge, weakened them. You noticed yourself getting unluckier. You even lose the kingdom arena more despite having meta cookies. Frustrated, you decided to close Cookie Run Kingdom, tired of your seemingly never ending bad luck.

With their Divine Creator frustrated with their bad luck in the other world, surely their grace will focus on them, right? All they need to give you is a little push and you'll never abandon them again; they'll make sure of it. You'll only pay attention to Teyvat and nowhere else. Their actions, no matter how much it hurt you, are all worth it. You're theirs and theirs alone.

I am absolutely impressed by the way Alex and Carlos were so openly honest about the things they both are bringing to the table.

Carlos admitting that he did not expect for Alex to be this sensitive on some aspects of the car, so much so that during meetings he told the engineers to ask Alex directly about some things because he knew he would feel them better and have a better feedback.

Alex admitting that Carlos being here put him in a completely different mentality, whereas last year he would fly over some problems to not overload the team, this time he feels like he can talk about any little problem he finds.
