I’m just….UGH NEJI WOULD’VE BEEN THE IDEAL FATHER AND BORUTO WOULD’VE LOOKED UP TO NEJI AS A FATHER FIGURE WHILE NARUTO WAS BUSY…KISHI COPPED OUT WITH THIS ONE….there I said it with my whole chest.

As you can see, Meiten can be a bit stabby-hotheaded-pants like her mother sometimes… Their kids may mostly look like Neji but their personalities are definitely Tenten. They have their work cut out for them for sure!

Just some quick sketches of the kids. I’m missing ChouChou and Inojin but they would’ve made up the squad.

So it's [Shino x Tenten] vs [Gaara x Lee]! Fight!

First, Gai is wailing in the stands because he doesn't know who to root for. How did it come to this?! His students are on opposite sides! How is fate so cruel?! Classic. I'm here for it. Bonus points if Kakashi is holding him while he does it, just gently patting his arm and trying not to laugh.

Tenten and Lee square off right from the beginning! Lee, telling her he won't lose! Even if they're teammates and best friends! He will give it his all! He will-! Tenten summons something from her scroll, interrupting him! What weapon could it possibly be?! Why, it's not a weapon at all! It's a picture of their Sensei! Holding the picture up, she speaks:

"If you attack me, Lee, Sensei will be sad." She can see tears in his eyes already; she got him on the ropes! She goes in for the kill. "You don't want Sensei to be sad, do you?"

That does it! Lee is reduced to a sobbing mess, and Tenten throws her arms up in victory before running over to calm her friend down. Trying to yell over his crying about how it was all a joke, she's sorry and begging him to stop crying.

On the other side of the field, I want Gaara and Shino to stand there silently for a long time with Shino's hands in his pockets and Gaara's arms crossed, looking more like they're waiting in line at the supermarket rather than about to engage in combat. Neither of them particularly needs to be physical for their techniques to work, so they could, in fact, stand there the whole time while Shino's insects try to make their way through Gaara's wall of ever-shifting sand.

The only time Gaara moves a muscle is when Lee starts crying. The sound of his lover distraught makes him cross the field, turning back to Shino momentarily to give a grand speech he's so good at about taking care of those precious is more important than anything before Gaara and Lee disappear from the swirling sphere of sand so he can console him.

The announcer sounding a bit confused about what the heck them and the crowd even just watched that clarified as a battle declares Tenten and Shino the winners.

Under the lacklustre applause, Tenten asks Shino if he actually did anything in his fight with Gaara, to which he replies he doesn't think he did.

....But, like, if they had to fight for real, I think [Gaara x Lee] would win, but it would be tough 🤣

What I Ship Because I’ve Been Semi-Vague

I talk about shipping a lot, but since I talk about whatever’s popular over what I actually like (this may or may not change), you might not know what I actually ship. Or you do because you stalked me or read the few fanfictions that I posted here and will probably move because it’s weird to have fanfics on a mostly commentary focused blog.

Regardless, for anyone who’s interested, here’s what I actually do like. Also, just to make sure that all of my credibility goes down the toilet, all accept one (maybe two) of these is a crackship.

The Ships I Sold My Soul To

These are the ships I like the most. Yes, I’ve already imagined AUs with them and I’ve given them all children. I promise I have a thought process that makes sense (to me) behind them all. However, I don’t want to turn this into a 100,000 word essay, so I’ll try to summarize what I like about them in 1-2 (potentially run-on) sentences. Just know, there’s more to all of these.

NejiNaru (Neji Hyuga x Naruto Uzumaki) - Both characters had their lives decided/changed at birth against their will, but walked out of it with vastly different perspectives. This combined with them having complimentary personalities makes me think that they could have very positive impacts on each other’s lives if they were given just a bit more time to get invested in each other.

GaaSaku (Gaara x Sakura Haruno) - Both characters would greatly benefit from having (emotional) support in a relationship and both characters are deathly loyal to a fault. They also both need and have different perspectives that they wouldn’t hesitate in sharing with each other.

SasuIno (Sasuke Uchiha x Ino Yamanaka) - Both are highly confident, independent people who wouldn’t take shit from each other (which is important when both absolutely pull some shit). They’re also loyal to anyone who earns it, are very driven, don’t stand for people getting hurt unjustly, care deeply for their clans and clan traditions, and roll their eyes at their friends’ shenanigans despite everyone knowing that they’d both kill and die for them.

ChouTen (Chouji Akimichi x TenTen) - They are similar in the best ways and different where it counts. TenTen would motivate Chouji to work harder then complain with him about how hard it is to work hard and Chouji would absolutely help her have more faith in ninjas being able to become great with hard work alone.

ShikaKiba (Shikamaru Nara x Kiba Inuzuka) - Like Sasuke and Ino, they come across as very different on the outside but have a lot of similarities when you dig a little deeper. Along with them being good to have in each other’s lives, each other’s families would also be good influences on them (Shikamaru would benefit from being around very expressive and strong female role models, and Kiba would benefit from being around patient people with higher IQs).

TemaHina (Temari x Hinata Hyuga) - They could relate with each other when it comes to growing up as the older sisters trained to be weapons since birth overlooked in favor of their very talented younger siblings with physically absent moms and emotionally absent, abusive fathers that are not only skilled ninja but also hold great social-political power, but they could still offer each other different perspectives. Temari could help Hinata gain more confidence and stand up for herself while Hinata can help Temari learn how to approach situations with kindness rather than the anger/violence that’s been taught to her.

ShinoLee (Shino Aburame x Rock Lee) - These two are so fucking different and they cover each other’s blind spots so fucking well. Rock Lee is very passionate and memorable, but he doesn’t realize he can rely on others (seriously, he does everything alone) while Shino doesn’t have direction and is insecure about not sticking out, but he’s characterized as being very aware of the importance of teamwork, even when it’s with people outside of team 8.

KakuDei (Kakuzu x Deidara) - Both characters value respect and strength, are able to keep a clear mind even when their short tempers get the better of them, and are deceptively intelligent. Kakuzu could also benefit from taking more risks and Deidara could benefit from keeping his head on the ground, both of which the other could force help them to do.

ItaHida (Itachi Uchiha x Hidan) - Both of them are so devoted to their beliefs that it’s actually a problem (they both only think inside the box and are the opposite of self aware) and both of them would jump at the opportunity to call the other out on it. In the cases where they wouldn’t be able to influence (Itachi making Hidan a bit more patient, Hidan making Itachi more willing to call out bullshit, etc) or call out each other enough to change, they’d be able to easily cover for the other’s weaknesses (like, so easily that they’d be a horrific combat pair).

KisaSaso (Kisame Hoshigaki x Sasori) - These two know what it’s like to believe one thing for years and years then have your worldview shattered in an instant, making them potentially very affirming for each other. They both also value honesty and commit when they decide to trust someone or do something because of their past experiences.

Comfort Ships

These are the ships that I don’t have too much reason behind (even if there is some), I’m not super committed to finding or making content for, and I don’t really think of them in any deep or sophisticated or analytic way. They’re comfy, they’re chill, and that’s all I want them to be.

SasuKarin (Sasuke Uchiha x Karin Uzumaki) - I’ve read so many think pieces about these two and their relationship that this was inevitable. I did this to myself.

ChouSaku (Chouji Akimichi x Sakura Haruno) - They both have body image issues and a deep love for their friends. They are so fluffy, I want them to cook together, and their child would be nicknamed Cherry.

LeeSaku (Rock Lee x Sakura Haruno) - Their development during the Chunin Exams still lives rent free in my brain and they’re both such romantics. This one I switch in and out of shipping.

LeeHina (Rock Lee x Hinata Hyuga) - They have a weird amount of similarities and they’d be cute. That’s it.

SasuHina (Sasuke Uchiha x Hinata Hyuga) - They look nice together and have a bit of a night sky aesthetic. This one is the one that I think about the least, like, I’m not entirely sure if I actually ship them or I just like looking at fanart of them.

Listen, I appreciate you wanting my opinion on the matter, but I've replied to four questions about the Uzumaki clan; are you writing a fanfiction? I'll recommend this page: Here. Be warned, some things are headcanons, not facts.

Sealing techniques can be used in both ways, Tenten uses scrolls to release weapons and hit their targets and, like I've said, sealing a tailed beast inside a vessel is an offensive tactic, as they're used as weapons, the adamantine chakra chains are also a form on fuinjutsu (x)

as for non-canon ships, what do you think about KankuTen (Kankuro x Tenten)?

Personally i ship these 2 when I was 9. Initially i thought they have the cat and mouse vibe (bc Kankuro's cat hood and Tenten's twin buns hairstyle) and looking into it, they're both have similar interests with their weapons, so why not? xD

Kankuro would NOT be my first option to ship with Tenten, not with his sister right there.

But that actually sounds so sweet I'm honestly surprised! Kankuro has a bit of a chaotic vibe and I can see Tenten just going along with it 🥺

Pro-ending or anti-ending: It could’ve been better, but there are some good points.

How would your version of Naruto ending and Boruto play out (don’t be shy, make it VERY LONG, out touch the smallest details):  Orochimaru and Anko reconcile and marry, we get some backstory for Choji and Karui’s love, as well as Lee and Metal’s mom, Log gets more scenes, Mitsuki is the main protagonist, and Boruto gets the shit kicked out of him till he learns to behave. And maybe we could bring Jiraiya back to life…?

Arm around the weapons-specialist, Sakura couldn’t help but chuckle to herself at the bit of teasing. “How observant of you.” Rolling her eyes, before nodding, “But maybe so, if a small one.” An understatement if there ever was one.

“But honestly, it’s a label, right? I’ve never been able to get that talk from you directly.” Adjusting her position slightly as they sat together, to pull Tenten against her more firmly, as she insisted. Though Sakura was trying to play it cool, what was on her mind was plain to see, as she made the gamble to see if she could acquire that same mentioned label.

Meiten: Papa is so merciless when we train together! No fair…

Hizashi (to his brother): Ugh, Nozomi got in the way! Not mom laughing at us…

The Real Treasure - [Shino x Tenten]

An enthusiastic but hurried-sounding yell stole her concentration for only one moment before her attention was solely back on him. The sheathing of her short sword in her left hand made Shino take on a more defensive stance widening his footing and raising his sword higher.

“I wish I had time to dance, Captain, but duty calls,” her hand reached around her and into the leather pouch attached to her thigh, a cunning, knowing look on her features, “try not to be too upset.”

Duty was laughable; she and everyone she knew wouldn’t know duty if it shot her with her flintlock pistol.

An opaque sphere appeared in her fist that took up her entire palm to hold it; for only a moment, her chocolate eyes both determined and hopeful before throwing it at his head.

On muscle memory of duelling practice drilled into him since he could hold a wooden practice sword and years of hand-to-hand combat ingrained into every part of him meant he sidestepped and diagonally slashed from bottom left to the upper right cutting through the dark glass-looking material in a single strike without blinking long before it could hit him.

The air in front of him turned the same seaweed green shade as the sphere. It contained some sort of gas. Thick and vile smelling, it obscured his vision. It made a layer of something clogging and slimy invade his throat, choking him, making his skin feel hot and clammy as if needles dragged across his body but only for a few countable seconds before the ever-present breeze started to disperse it on the air.

When the air cleared enough for him to see her again, she seemed astounded he managed to be still standing.

“What,” Shino’s hands and arms violently shook against his wants so severely he dropped his sword, the metal clanking ominously off the wooden deck below; his eyes could barely understand that his hand flinched violently to the side when his brain told it to stay “what; is; this?”

“How are you still awake?”

“A-Awa-”

His knees hitting the wood made her release a relieved breath and lowered her weapon-holding arm, which he could barely hear over the pain in his legs. Straight after, his hands slapped down hard against the deck as his entire body violently jolted then; the only thing Shino could do to avoid hitting the floor completely. His laboured breathing made his chest burn, and his vision swirled in front of him like he imagined lesser men saw when they had too much rum.

As his consciousness started to fade, the fringes turned black as his arms gave up the rest of their strength, slumping to the deck like nothing but dead weight. Shino cursed her.

She has evaded a fair fight and resorted to underhanded tricks to win. She was a true pirate.

Ino: Hey Tenten, what’re you looking for?

Tenten: My will to live.

Neji: *walks into the room*

Tenten: Oh, there it is!

Ino: Aw!

Tenten: *takes scroll from Neji's pack and unseals it, revealing a fuck-off war hammer*

Naruto Femslash Week!

Day 3:  war | anbu

Meet Konoha’s best infiltration & covert assassination team! Having mastered so many weapons, Tenten’s extremely good at picking one and leaning into that style, creating whole personas around them. And many of those personas have been employed with great success as covers, making her invaluable as a spy. Then in comes Ino, with her amazing and terrifying Jutsu, who can easily capitalize on the vulnerabilities Tenten can open, be it in people or in whole security strategies. They’re not the flashiest power couple, but they always get the job done ;)

Naruto Marching Band Headcanons

naruto: trumpet player. very loud. he’d be a drum major and he’d be a rly good leader always hyping up the band!!

sasuke: DRUMLINE!! he’d play snare and would probably end up being drumline captain

sakura: pretentious clarinet section leader. she’s rly good and she knows it. would be soooo strict on her section omg like she’d yell at them during practice if they weren’t counting loud enough. she can yell at me all she wants. drumline sasuke simp

shikamaru: gives me front ensemble vibes. he thought it’d be easier than marching because he’s ✨lazy✨but he was w r o n g. probably got forced to try out for a leadership role lol

choji: would rock it on saxophone!!! he would do jazz band as well

ino: you can’t look at me n tell me she wouldn’t be in guard n be captain. she’s one of the best dancers in the guard. feeds into the colorguard x drumline stereotype😐😐

kiba: tuba player lol. i feel like he chose band to get an art credit but ended up liking it so he stayed. goes OFF during stand tunes. another simp but only for guard girls lol

hinata: the cutest flute player😭she also has the best marching technique!!

shino: he would play either trombone or sax. he likes the lower sound ya know. he also knows a lot of band secrets/gossip because of how quiet he is👀

neji: another percussionist. has been in both drumline and front ensemble. questionable drum major #2

lee: trumpet section leader!! he’s a such a good player n section leader always supporting his section but still gives them critiques. cries when marching season ends (me too lee, me too :’)

tenten: colorguard n she’d be VERY GOOD at weapons like sabre n rifle she would have the highest tosses

kakashi: hot head band director!😩kakashi would be big on tough love w the band, he wouldn’t be against yelling at them if they were slacking. he’d be good at wide range of instruments n would conduct the highest band during concert season.

might guy: he’d be a brass director and like a dad to the band :’) would also cry during the end of the season

tsunade: COLOR. GUARD. DIRECTOR omg this woman would be the most ruthless guard director out there but it pays off because the guard would be rly good. you know that “PATRICIA!!!” vine? yea that’s her.

Tsunade pursed her lips into a thin line, nodding solemnly. “If it wasn’t so time-sensitive, I’d put someone else on it, I swear.” She tucked a loose strand of her silvery blond hair behind her ear and shuffled the papers on her desk, bringing a personnel file to the top. “And to accompany you… Again, I’m really sorry, but she’s the only one who makes sense. She was in the area most recently out of all available jonin and her weapons expertise makes her the best candidate to accompany you.”

His eyebrows dipped together in mild confusion. He would have requested this partner if she hadn’t been assigned—he agreed fully that they would make the best team for this recovery mission. Shaking it off, he nodded again. “Sounds great, Lady Fifth. Anything else?”

Tsunade let out a breath she had been half holding and leaned back in her chair. Tonton gave a relieved squeak and Shizune pulled her closer to her chest. The Hokage dragged her hands across her eyes, then leaned forward on her elbows.

“Glad you’re taking this so well. I thought you’d at least argue about your fiancé going with you, if not objecting to being sent on a mission right now at all.”

Kakashi jerked his head backwards and to the side, scanning over the Sannin with his single vibrant, gray eye. “I’m sorry if I gave you the impression I like to argue with superiors, Tsunade-sama. That’s really more Naruto’s thing.” She snorted, and he took it as a good sign. “When would you like us to head out? Thirty minutes?”

Immediately, Tsunade shot him down. “She needs a medic to look her over before she can go into the field. I’m happy to do it myself. Her training with her team ends at noon, right?” She glanced at the clock, then gestured to Shizune. “Send Kotetsu or Izumo to pull her, we can’t wait that long.” With a quick nod, she ducked out of the room. “Meanwhile, you can go pack bags for you both. Be sure to grab her med pack, I’ll probably need to give her a bonus prescription or two for the journey.”

At this point, Kakahi’s confusion could no longer be dismissed. Why would his fiancé need extra medication for a mission? He had just seen you when you left to meet your team of genin, and you hadn’t mentioned anything. Maybe the stomach bug you had had a few weeks ago had been worse than you let on?

“Sorry, prescriptions? Are we facing potential poisoning?” He tried, looking for an explanation.

Tsunade shook her head firmly. “Anything is possible, but I’m not concerned about it.” She ran her hand backward through her hair, shaking it gently toward the ends and letting it fall out of the way. “More concerned with making sure she’s getting the correct nutrients. I’ve been working on the nutritional value of shinobi rations, but it’s hard to find something that’s shelf stable, lightweight, and compact without just being food pills.”

Kakashi agreed, a debate he had heard on nearly every long term mission. “So you’ll give us both supplements, fair. Should we do my physical now while we wait on my fiancé to arrive?” He relished the words in his mouth, the phrase “my fiancé” almost a dream to him, even still.

She gave a bemused chuckle, glancing the scarecrow of a man up and down. “Why, you have some kind of boo-boo you need me to kiss?” Tsunade returned to the paperwork on her desk, shuffling it again and pulling the shinobi copy of the mission details file out, holding it out to him. “I trust you to get whatever nutrients you need after all these years of life, Bakashi,” she teased.

He didn’t move to take the file. “What’s going on?” he demanded, as respectfully as absolutely necessary. “What’s going on that she needs a medical check and extra medication to travel on a mission? Why did you think I would object to being paired with her? It’s not our first mission together, not even since we got engaged. What am I forgetting?”

Tsunade didn’t react to his interrogation, continuing to organize paperwork and leaning down to pull open a drawer in her desk, sliding his and your personnel files inside. “The fetus, maybe?” She offered, waving a hand like it was obvious.

The what?

For a moment, Tsunade could almost hear the cogs grinding in the shinobi’s head. You passing him every drink that had been pushed on you in the last few weeks, the stomach bug that he had never caught, and the uptick in morning meetings you had.

Then the cogs were brought to a halt, and the whole world froze. The blood running through his body was ice cold, and he felt his fingertips and forehead tingling. Were you really pregnant?

Was he, Kami forbid, going to be a father?

Tsunade swore, knowing she shouldn’t have said anything violating medical confidentiality, but with the pregnancy already being in the second trimester, she had no idea that you hadn’t told Kakashi yet. “Listen, Kakashi… just sit down, okay?” She looked around, swearing again at the reminder that this damn office had no chairs outside of the one she occupied.

She jumped up, crossing over to Kakashi and pushing him forward into the chair behind the desk. “Breathe, Kakashi, come on.” She shook him gently, then lightly slapped his cheek. “Come on, soldier. You’re Kakashi of the Sharingan, master of a thousand jutsu, pull it together.”

He flatly refused.

The door to the Hokage’s office opened, Shizune and Tonton leading you in. You took a moment to take in the scene of your fiancé hyperventilating behind the desk, the Hokage herself swearing and trying to get him to make eye contact and pull air into his lungs. Then he saw you, and he paused, fear in his eyes.

“Is it true—I mean, are you—love, are you pregnant?” He choked out.

Your hand flew to your mouth as if to put the secret back inside. You knew you’d have to tell him eventually, but you had wanted the moment to be right and he had been so busy with his missions lately. He didn’t know it yet, but you had rented a room at a nearby onsen for next weekend, making sure to get a room with a private bath and windows high enough that no onlookers could see inside so that he could comfortably remove his mask. That would’ve been the way you preferred he find out, when rather than dessert, you slid the sonogram across the table after dinner. Instead, you nodded.

“Yes, my love,” you whispered. “I’m pregnant.” Instinctively, your hand rested over the part of your stomach that had begun showing this last week.

He seemed to melt into chair. “Kami… we’re going to be parents?”

You nodded, a small laugh breaking from your chest. “Yes, Kakashi, that’s the plan.”

Slowly, he gathered himself, standing up and delicately walking around the desk to the doorway where you remained. “I… You want this?” He sniffed hard, blinking twice and taking your hands. “You want to raise a child with me? This child?”

You tilted your head to the side, feeling hot tears sting your eyes. You knew he had issues with his self worth, and that would be something you would focus on for the next few months so he’d be ready for your child.

“Of course, ‘Kashi. There’s no one I trust more, no one I think would make a better father. I can’t imagine doing this with anyone else, and I’m thrilled that I get to do it with you.”

His wiry frame jolted as though he’d been shocked, and the threw himself into your arms, allowing his fears and shock to leave him through tears. Tsunade and Shizune averted their eyes, doing what they could to preserve your privacy. Tonton oinked in solidarity. After a couple of moments, he stood again, wiping dry the parts of his face not covered by salty, wet fabric. He then hooked a finger into the mask at the side of his nose, yanked it down, and brought you into a deep kiss, warm hands wrapping around you and pulling you close.

After the surprise, you let yourself dissolve into him, allowing yourself to be swept into his emotional display. He pulled his face back after a few beats and beamed, smiling as widely as you could remember seeing him grin. Then his mouth was back on yours, this time for just a second, then a firm kiss to your forehead before he secured the mask again. Turning to face the Hokage, he wrapped his arm around your back and held you close.

“Tsunade-sama, all due respect, can Pakkun handle this? I’ll send him with anyone you’d like. Naruto, even, I don’t think he’s doing anything tonight. I can send the whole pack. I can brief Gai, or Tenzo, anyone? And if you need a weapons expert, I’m sure Tenten is more than qualified.” You giggled, watching your fiancé ramble to the leader of the village. “It’s just, I’m going to be a father, and she’s pregnant with our child, and I’ve gotta say, I don’t think we’re going on any missions for the next, say, 18 years? Well, maybe some D ranks. We’ll see.”

As Tsunade opened her mouth, he cut her off with a pointed, “How’s the progress on the Konoha Orphanage coming along? They prepared for one more? Cause I’m not letting anything happen to either of us, for this child’s sake.”

Tsunade glared, but was startled out of the shouting match she was gearing up for by Shizune chuckling. Betrayed, she turned to her companion.

“I mean, this is the reaction you anticipated him having, Lady Fifth,” she giggled.

She slammed a fist on the desk, although with an intense amount of restraint given that the surface was not even dented. Finally, she looked up with a glint in her eye.

“I think Hana Inuzuka gets back this evening. I can give her twelve hours to rest and then she and Tenten, along with Gai, can probably handle it. This time.”

Kakashi was already on his way out the door, pulling you behind him in a firmly clasped hand, before she had finished. He called out a thanks over your shoulder as you left. Together, you giggled as you entered the streets of Konoha.

Your fiancé spun in circles, laughing freely and spreading his arms out. “We’re starting a family!” he shouted to the sky. You knew you would both continue to take missions with this child, and that was a conversation for another time. For now, though, you were content to spend eternity watching the love of your life giddily relish in this moment.
