DAY 2 - TERRAFORM

Like father, like son.

UNLIKE ALL THE OTHER ANGST EVERYONE ELSE HAS, I am going to terraform the one and only Luna!

And I decided, why not add a bit of... story into it! Well not much, but I think it is enough.

As we all know, humans are looking for celestial bodies to make a new home of, and what better home could be other than our own moon! So, the humans decide to terraform Luna. Which.. I think he would mind, but after a while I don't think it would be too bad, unlike all the mars arts we saw today.

I asusme this new Luna is probably more like a.. how can I put this? Holiday home. I assume there would be a lot hotels and other stuff instead of civilisations. Though I do think there would be a few dependant nations living on it!

Anyways, enjoy the art! Hope you like some happiness along with other's angst!

“Human, we are en route to the Forest Planet Svoltyrnak, and will arrive within hours. I suggest you—“

“Wait, ‘Forest Planet’? That’s an actual thing? Not just a lazy scifi trope? How can a whole planet be defined by a specific biome?”

“Well it is an ancient colony of… Ah, you’re human. I forget about you people. You permanently inhabit the entire range of biomes across your homeworld, correct?”

“Nearly.”

“You evolved to sapience among…subtropical grasslands? Yes? And expanded from your tropics to the tundra. This is in fact an oddity among the Sophonts of the galaxy. It’s one of the reasons the galactic community has taken such an interest in your people.”

“You mean why we’re highly sought after mercenaries and scouts less than a decade after inventing FTL.”

“In brief. Most sapient species are more or less biologically locked into the type of environment in which we evolved. Even post technological civilization, strict temperature preferences, reproductive cycles, or necessary symbiotic and parasitic relationships make settling outside our preferred biome supremely difficult and uncomfortable. My own people are highly adapted to subtropical tide pool regions.”

“You look it.”

“Thank you. As such, when most Sophonts venture out into the galaxy, the worlds which they build for themselves are usually to their specifications. With proper planning, upwards of 60% of a terraformed world’s land-surface can permanently suit even the pickiest organism. The other 40% is usually an exercise in extremity to support the livable space.”

“So a forest planet…”

“One of the most prolific empires of the last galactic age favored temperate woodland biomes. Much of the galaxy is dotted with worlds whose surfaces almost exclusively resemble, I would say, your Canadian pine forests.”

“So if Earth had gone exploring without having made contact with the extant galactic civilization, we would have found…”

“Several dozen Planet Canadas within proverbial ‘spitting distance’ of your homeworld, yes. My people were…confused.”

Island design how???

how do you all create so cool animal crossing new horizons islands~~?

I feel no matter what I try they all look like crap in comparison~~~

course I'm bad at terraforming too tho~~~ hopefully the "hard mode" challenge I'm doing will help fix that, cause you're kinda forced to make your own patterns and clothes and stuff~~~

and I never have an island theme......

tho I like kimonos and try to collect them in game so maybe a rural old fashioned town aesthetic?

but the name tho~~~ I like what I got going on but I don't thin "nectarlake" makes for a good rural Japanese town theme.....

is there a cap on flowers? last island I was flower breeding and I had them EVERYWHERE bc I was breeding all the colors but the "lily of the valley" wouldn't spawn at all~~~

and I waited until I thought I had 5 stars to even check my island rating~~ lol

now cause the reset I got to get there again and I wanted to be slow and chill about it this time~~~ it's supposed to be a chill relaxing game (and I don't play it that way half the time then get bored and reset lol)

been watching youtube videos of "island inspiration" and speed builds of stuff and I'm like "how?? I'm not that creative or talented in my own opinion~~~

and I always try to put the shops and museum in line w resident services .... idk why I do this~~~ or what kind of good build you can do with it...... really early tho and don't even have the able sisters yet so won't get terraforming for a while~~~

so got plenty of time to plan~~~~

This is my starter house on my LP world. I finally finished the terraforming after only...3 months(?) of procrastinating, and I'm really happy with it so far. As with all Minecraft projects, I still consider it a WIP though, because there are still a few tweaks I'd like to make (does anyone ever truly finish a Minecraft build?).
