The way Kou is very judgemental of Akane is wonderful to me, he really just assumes shit about him?? He has a "my senpai is weirdo" view on Akane.

But at the same time!!

Kou looks up to Akane, sees him as a dependable senpai, considering he was an option for guidance, putting him on the same panel as the brother he idolized and the supernatural whose power is knowledge, only stopped from asking for help because Akane was being crazy about Teru's bet.

So on a normal day he would see this "weirdo upperclassman" as someone helpful.

Which leads me to how Kou called Akane when Teru locked himself. HE CRIED TO AKANE OF ALL PEOPLE FOR HELP.

I also genuinely believe he thinks Akane is so cool! He got some awe going on considering how flustered he gets near him.

Honestly this mix of concerned cause he assumes Akane is a weirdo with insane tastes, and flustered cause he genuinely respects him/wants Akane to think he is cool, makes for a really funny dynamic.

Bro really blasts Akane while simultaneously having a kind of admiration for him.

And Akane? Akane also judges him a lot.

He looks down on Kou at times too, cause to be fair, Kou is very spaced out, and their world view does not align.

I will never forget the scene where Akane had to REMIND Kou that "Hey, your friend is dead. Get your priorities straight kid."

But he likes his spunk too, he is inspired by his determination, he wants Kou to succeed. I'm glad Kou goes to him for help cause Akane does like him, if he can help, he will.

He sucks at pep talks though, he comes off as very awkward when he tries to cheer him up.

He also understands Kou extremely well despite barely interacting.

He only scowled Teru after the brothers fought because he ALREADY KNEW Kou would protect Hanako.

Akane could also sense he has some kind of connection with Supernatural MItsuba, who I doubt Kou ever mentioned to him, he is always very silent about Mitsuba. So Akane must have noticed from body language alone?? My boy-

He sees him as a good kid, so much so he goes "you sure you're related to Teru?"

He also appreciates Kou's cooking skills.

mp100 is a very very kind show, i love how compassionate it is and how forgiving it is, but i also love how hard it hammers in that there’s no such thing as a perfect person with endless bounds of patience and forgiveness, and that living your life only to please others isn’t living much at all.

the confession arc is very special to me for this reason, and below the cut is some analysis as to why! obviously, this contains spoilers for all three seasons of mp100.

the confession arc takes mob, this very kind loving sweet person who’s compassionate and has been able to see good in and treat with kindness people like mogami, touchirou, etc, and tells you... hey! this kid actually has (reasonable) building resentment and unresolved issues from being constantly people-pleasing and forgiving and not really acknowledging peoples’ flaws!

and no, it’s not a case of mob having this evil dark side who hates everyone, it’s just a case of mob... being human! expecting him to brush off the way reigen treats him and the way he and teru met and the danger to his life shou and touchirou were, as compassionate and mature as he is about them, isn’t realistic! because no human person is just a walking well of love and forgiveness, and for as mature as mob is, he’s still only a kid!

mob, as ???%, is very violent towards teru and reigen, and i choose to interpret this as how intensely he’s repressed his unresolved resentment for them that he swallowed down in favor of forgiveness and being the bigger person - the wider theme of mp100. we never really see mob express any discomfort around teru for nearly killing him, or around reigen for lying to him and generally treating him like trash sometimes, or around shou for burning his house down... and while i can’t express enough how important the messages of compassion and forgiveness are in this story, i think it’s also equally important to see, in ???%’s rampage, it’s not some evil side of mob or some shadowy separate personality in his body who’s deciding to hurt teru and reigen, it’s mob himself, because he never unpacked his conflicting emotions towards them, and now, when he can’t control himself, they’re running wild.

and this isn’t me saying teru and reigen are horrible people who never earned mob’s forgiveness. of course not! they’re very important people to him, he cares for them a great deal, they help to bring mob down from his violent episode... but as we hear in the mogami arc...

mob, kind as he is, isn’t some all-forgiving, forever-loving kid, and the same goes for his relationships with others. he cares about teru as a friend, he has resentment towards him for what he did that he never unpacked until now - these things coexist!

and there’s the ultimate catharsis when reigen tells the truth about himself, revealing to mob that he’s a complete liar who’s been using and exploiting him from the beginning. he lied to him from the day they met, and those lies ultimately led to the disaster in seasoning city that we’re seeing now. it was mob’s honest belief that reigen was a strong, powerful adult who had everything figured out -

- that led to him being unable to accept the contradictions within himself, and so reigen laying those bare, the fact that he’s a liar and an exploiter, that he too, this person mob has admired and learned from for the whole series, has a part of himself he hates for how it thinks of other people, is what’s able to let mob finally accept himself. 

reigen being a liar doesn’t make him an evil monster who deserves nothing but mob’s resentment - and in turn, mob destroying the city and trying to kill his friends doesn’t make him a violent, hateful murderer. it makes him and mob flawed humans, whose relationship couldn’t ever have healthily continued if those things weren’t unpacked - if reigen never honestly confessed about who he was, if mob kept forgiving reigen without looking inward to ask how he felt. at best, it would have been shallow and dishonest for them both until the end, and at worst... well, mob wouldn’t have been able to repress his emotions, dangerous as they are the more he hides them, forever...

this is why the scene of mob breaking down and crying is so important to me. finally, he feels safe expressing ugly, crude, selfish emotions. until now, when we see mob cry, it’s either tasteful tears running down his face, not changing much of his actual expression, or the complete opposite direction in exploding and bawling his eyes out with 100% sadness and 100% rejection - either mob’s emotions are pretty and subdued, or soul-crushing explosions he has no control over.

(sidenote: 100% rejection is one of the coolest explosions in the series to me and i wish it was talked about more!)

now, though, with the reassurance that he can cry, full-on cry, and it won’t hurt anyone, that he isn’t some selfish evil for being a middle school boy devastated he got rejected by his crush, that he’s allowed to feel broken up and miserable and have it not be an explosion that destroys the city... he cries! he feels all those negative emotions he’d held back, and because he feels safe expressing them, they’re not dangerous at all, they’re just... again, a middle school boy crying because he got rejected by his crush.

mob’s emotions, on their own, aren’t dangerous. it’s his refusal to express them, and the violent outbursts that leads to, that is.

something i love so much about mob psycho 100′s ending is that it’s not an ending at all. it’s just the beginning - finally, after three seasons, mob can actually feel and safely express his emotions. he can be on even footing with teru, reigen, all of them. he can start balanced, open, communicative relationships with those around him, showing that the compassion mp100 preaches goes far deeper than simply forgiving those who hurt you, or giving people chances.

mob’s kindness is so, so, so important to me, and where season 2 was about extending kindness to others, culminating in mob sitting down with touchirou after deciding that letting him die alone would only have been needlessly cruel and reinforcing the man’s worldview that he needed nobody, and that extending kindness towards him was what he needed to properly change - season 3, culminating in mob confronting the parts of himself that may have wanted to leave touchirou behind, is about extending kindness to yourself.

Hanako is always so cheerful and friendly, even when he is pretty open with his feeling it actually take him a while to accept them and to accept to be in a relationship with you. You being a exorsist isn't a problem for him, at first was something that startled him but you had showed him so much kindness that he grows comfortable around you

Hanako tend to do a lot of jokes about you being are exorsist, about how even when being one you end up dating a supernatural, or how he probably had defeat you by stealing your heart, and so on, but even when he makes a lot of jokes he never underestimated you, he knows what you are capable of and he respects and admire your strength

Just as he loves making jokes about you being an exorsist he LOVES bragging about your strength, he will tell everyone who is willing to heard (and those who aren't too), he is always talking about how stronge you are, about your power and the techniques you just show/teach him, about how amazing you look, he is just too excited and in love to shut up

Speaking of, even when he knows you are really stronge (probably even stronger than him) that doesn't stop him from stepping in front of you and shield you whenever you two find an agressive supernatural. He knows you are stronge but he will hate for something to happen to you, he doesn't want to lose you

Is probably that at least once you will protect him from the attack of a supernatural (or Teru another exorsist), even when he is the leader of the mysteries that doesn't mean he can't be hurt, so when you are the one protecting him he feels completely flattered, he feels small and vulnerable in the way that he feels completely safe, like he doesn't have to be the stronge and powerful honorable 7th for once

Hanako doesn't know what he loves more of you, if your strength or your kindness, your power based in the water is one of a kind, even when fighting you can be as gentle and comforting as a pleasant breeze or be powerful and destructive like a tsunami, also, just as the water, you can easily adapt to your surroundings, quickly getting used to the battlefield and fighting with elegancy. Hanako is completely mesmerize by your fighting style and doesn't lose the chance to see you fight, admiring every move you do but still on guard to step in and protect you in case things get out of hand (however he doesn't accept that out loud, never, he only says that he was sure you will do it)

As if it wasn't enough you kindness is the perfect complement, your sweet smile and gentleness while treating him always make him flustered, it took him a while to get used to be treaten with such kindness and even when he felt like he was handling it you just accept him as he is, as the supernatural, as the assassin, and you did it with a smile in your face, he doesn't feel like he deserve it but he doesn't want to lose it either

Hanako is always being playfuly and clingy towards you, always making jokes and teasing you with everything he can, both of you always have a lot of fun, but there are also moments when he just want to be with you in silent, doing nothing but basking in your presence for how comforting it is for him, for how much peace brings him, for how it calms the cruel past that hurts him but isn't ready to talk about

Rainy days remind him of you (but also make him feel a little melancholy, even if you are in the school taking classes), specially the ones where is raining just a little, when is soft and gentle, he tend to stay out let the rain fall on his phantasmagoric body, it isn't like he will get sick anyways actually this is a lie, he gets sick sometimes for doing it, but he doesn't mind at all

Nene Yashiro

Yashiro constantly has crushes on people she finds atractive, normally are crushes that doesn't last long but are stubborn, it was almost imposible for her to don't fall for your kindness and beautiful smiles however the love she felt at first started to grow stronger and more sincere, to the point where it was sure to say that she was in love

Your warm hearted personality always manage to make Yashiro flustered, whenever you are being kind towards her Yashiro quickly gets blushy and flustered, things like offering her your hand and being willing to help her always make her feel special and loved, like if it were out of a romantic novel, although even little things like smiling when you see her or asking her about her day tend to make her heart skip a beat

Even when your kindness is something that Yashiro finds completely endearing and attractive she can easily get jealous over it, she likes whenever you are being kind towards others and other appreciating your kindness too, but it doesn't take much time before she start to feel jealous over it and the more time it past the more it affects her, she could go from feeling threaten for other people to feel insecure and compare herself with others, is pretty obvious that she feels down but she doesn't want to say it directly

Yashiro doesn't pry much details about you, specially at first, is more likely she will know more and more about you as the time pass, that is why is more probably that, if you don't tell her, she will find out about you being an exorsist when you two are dating already

She could get to know that you are an exorsist for seeing you fight or someone telling her, even as an accident, but no matter how she finds out it would be incredibly surprising for her, it would even take some reasurance for her to fully accept because for your personality she never thought that you will even fight anyone

At first Yashiro though that she was the one who brought you to the mess with the supernaturals and even felt bad about it but now that she knows that you are an exorsist (and a powerful one) she feels a lot better, even she start asking your help anytime she gets into troubles or hide behind you when is scare (something that make her feel a little embarrassed)

Yashiro doesn't think much about your power but as she find out that your fighting style is based in water she grows really curious, she has an idea of how it could be but want to see it herself (not that she will put herself in danger just to be able to see it)

Yashiro knows you are powerful but actually getting to see you fight is a whole new thing for her, she can only describe seeing you fight as if you were dancing perfectly, like if it were everything around you what change to follow your lead, doing it with so much elegancy and majesty that make her heart skip a beat, and from that day she looks up at you even more and is really flustered by it

She like to brag about you (even when she got teased and end up being a flustered mess for it) because you are perfect in her eyes, you aren't just incredibly kind but also incredibly powerful, she thinks she can't have a better partner

Kou Minamoto

Getting into a relationship with Kou won't be too difficult, if you two like each other he doesn't see why not, however he is quite flustered by being in a relationship, it would take him a while and even so there will always be something new that manage to make him flustered and blushy around you

Your kindness is something that make him fall for you almost imediatly, being so warm hearted make Kou feels comfortable around you almost imediatly and it doesn't pass much time before he actively search for your company. He isn't strange to kindness but, somehow, everytime you are directly kind towards him he feels special, it makes his heart feels faster because he just feels like if you were an angel

As well, Kou never feels jealous when you are being kind towards others, he actually likes seeing you show kindness and a sweet smile to everyone else, it makes him proud of who you are, and even more because he is dating you

Kou talks about you quite a lot, he can't just stop doing it and is a little embarrassed everytime someone point it out, but more whenever someone tease him for it (his friends and even his brother). He is proud of you as the person who you are but you being an exorsist, and a powerful one, make him even more proud and even make him feel honored of being your boyfriend

Is probably that he didn't know you are an exorsist at first (is more likely Teru is the one who knows) but even in that case it won't take him long to find out since he himself is an exorsist, when he get to know he doesn't underestimated you but treat you as an equal (unless someone tells him how powerful you actually are), so the moment he actually get to know your true strength he feels flustered but a little embarrassed, but that feelings are quickly replace by the excitement (if he gets to know by seeing you fight will be even more impressive for him)

Kou will ask you a lot of things about you being an exorsist out of excitment, he is so curious about your training, how long you have being an exorsist, with how many supernaturals you had fight with and how much you know about the supernaturals. Kou even compare your strengh with Teru's strength only because he says that you two probably are as stronge as each other (he mean it as a compliment, the only time Kou compare you to someone else is to praise you)

After Kou gets used to the idea he will treat you as always and not as some kind of superior when it comes to exorcism or supernatural, and, also, Kou will ask you if you could teach him some things about your own style because he wants to grow stronger

Kou is completely surprised when he gets to know that your style is based on water but he quickly grows incredibly curious, wanting to know how it works and wanting to see you fight. Kou is satisfied if you only explain him how it works or even let him see when you train, but actually seeing you fight it completely mesmerize him, he is normally protective over you, specially when it comes to supernatural, imediatly shielding you without a doubt but seeing you carry the fight is new to him and he love it

After the first time he sees you fight he will only grow more and more mesmerize and curious about your power, asking you more and wanting to see more of it. Soon he will know why it is based in the water, whit that incredible adaptability it has, not matter how it is the battlefield, big or small, filled of things or empty, you always manage to walk as if that place were your home and fight like if you were in the perfect scenario

As well, he is amased and shocked by how you handle your power, you can express your usual kindness in soft attacks that doesn't make suffer anyone or wipe out everything like a powerful hurricane

Kou is constantly praising you and openly telling you how proud he is of you, for your kind personality and for your strength, and he will never grow tired of it

Teru Minamoto

Getting into a relationship with Teru it would take a little bit of time and effort, even when he is always kind and charming all of that is mostly a facade, both has to be close friends first and he has to be able to feel comfortable enough around you before getting into a relationship. You being an exorsist it makes things much easier since is more likely you two had work together at least once and probably know each other for a while now

Teru loves your warm hearted personality, you're always willing to help others and offer a sincere smile, he finds it cute and endearing, even a little hilarious considering that you are a powerful exorsist, he loves watching you interact with others and showing that infinite kindness

Teru can get jealous easy but he doesn't show it much, normally tries to don't do anything about it, he is your boyfriend and that helps him calm down his jealousy, however when is too much he will step in and steal your attention from the others, but it could easily go unoticed since he does it with a smile and kind words, he always find the perfect excuses

Your kindness always manage to warm Teru's heart and that lead him to be protective over you, for his duty as an exorsist he had to give up many things and mature at an early age but being in a relationship with you despite everything makes him feel really happy and he wants to protect that, he sometimes end up underestimating you and sometimes thinks that for being so kind you are also inocent

More than once Teru had step in front of you to shield you from supernatural or try to be faster on attacking in order to protect you, he just want be able to protect you (and sometimes he likes to show off a little in front of you), he normally does it out of insist (due of being the main exorsist for so long too) if you complain and ask him to let you do your work he apologize for it and tries to hold back

Teru is intriged by your fighting style, he had been raised in the Minamoto Clan, following the tradicional fighting style of the family so he had never come across a fighting style based in water and he wants to learn from you, not exactly to use it but how it works. Teru finds it incredibly interesting but what he finds more amusing is seeing you use it

He admires your adaptability and how versatile you can be while fighting, that way you two to can fight together without much troubles, even become a powerful couple, and Teru is grateful for it for different reasons, he can be sure you are safe, he can spend a lot of time together and it makes things easier for him, he doesn't have to be the only one who carries the weight of being the strongest

But as much as he love your strength it also wakes in him an wish to challenge you, and he does whenever things are more calm or he knows is something you can easily handle

As well, as much as Teru loves your kindness and warm hearted personality he feels like is a waste of time whenever you show kindness towards supernaturals, even more when you do gentle but direct attacks while fighting, in his eyes the supernatural doesn't deserve that kindness and he isn't afraid of telling you his opinion right away, however he won't stop you from doing it if you really want

Why does teru hate supernaturals so much

I think the best chapters you could read to get a feel for Teru's dislike of supernaturals would be 9, 10, 72, and 97.

Teru explains in ch. 72 that because being an exorcist is a 24/7 job, he hasn't had a day off in years. We've seen that Teru has been working as one since he was at least 8, which means he had zero time to enjoy his childhood.

Just look! AidaIro even drew art of him staring longingly at an arcade. Poor little guy...

This isn't the long and short of it, but it paints a pretty bleak picture. I wouldn't exactly be able to blame him for hating supernaturals out of resentment for this alone.

Being forced to fight supernaturals since he was young has given Teru many opportunities to see the uglier sides to them, as well. We've already seen some pretty nasty ones in the manga, haven't we? And I'm sure Teru has seen supernaturals bring real harm to people, whether that be through lifelong injury, mental scars, or worse, death itself.

Not only is all of that traumatizing, but he was indoctrinated into being an exorcist at a ridiculously young age. I haven't heard a single character bring this up as problematic in the manga itself, despite the very real danger Teru was facing. Kou admires him and was even jealous about it, since Kou was stuck doing household chores instead.

This just goes to show that Kou has been indoctrinated, too, but Teru feasibly has no reason to blame anything but supernaturals for his lot in life. If there were no supernaturals, he wouldn't have to keep doing this--and why would he ever blame the very people he's working for? They're the good guys, the ones fighting to protect the innocent. It could even be his very own father making him do this. How ungrateful he would look to cast any blame on his father and the senior exorcists...

Eh, now that last part is me guessing a little, but given that we've only ever seen Teru express dislike for supernaturals, I think it's a valid reading of his character. That said, I don't think he's entirely brainwashed, and I could still easily see him acknowledging that what happened to him wasn't fair and harboring secret resentment towards the exorcists. It's just inappropriate to express that aloud, and especially in the very loud way Teru expresses hate for supernaturals. It also makes more sense for him to like the exorcists more by default because he associates positive things with them, unlike supernaturals which have been nothing but bad news.

Teru is a great character in the manga since I feel it's easy to understand why he is the way he is, but he hides so much behind a facade (like Hanako) it's hard to know what he's really thinking sometimes. Writing this post has made this very clear to me. Given that we have seen Teru react very immaturely at times, though, I imagine that his hatred doesn't stem from some super deep and logical reason. And since his mother was revealed to have died from postpartum complications, I doubt there was some tragic childhood event involving supernaturals that made him this way, either. His childhood itself is the tragic event. (._.`)

So in conclusion, I think Teru hates supernaturals because he was indoctrinated from a young age to fear and eradicate them, that this constant exposure to the ugly side of supernaturals has only cemented this hatred, that his 24/7 exorcist job has been a source of great stress for him and ruined his childhood, and that hating supernaturals is not only a socially acceptable form of stress relief, but that it's the only valid form of resentment his upbringing has conditioned him to have.

I hope this helped! I do urge you to reread the manga and jump to your own conclusions, though. And who knows? Maybe you'll reach a conclusion you like more than mine!

Mob is actually really good at drawing, it just takes him a lot of time. when it's something he doesn't really care too much about (like creating a costume for the cultural festival), his sketches are messy and simple, leading people to think he can't draw.

he randomly gives people drawings he made for them. Reigen puts each one on the walls of his apartment. whenever Teru feels lonely, he looks at the drawings he'd been given. Serizawa nearly broke down the first time Mob gave him one. Ritsu receives the most, partially because he lives with Mob, but mostly because of the admiration Mob has for him.

"well.. uh would you like to go first?" you ask with the apparent fear in you voice. the house was filled with dust and cobwebs around, not to mention that this was located in an obscure forest!

"sure, i promise no matter what i'll protect you!" they said with a gleaming smile on their face. that really eased you.

locking hands, you both went into the house with hearts full of courage.

as you entered, the darkness and dust became more discernable. spotting some insects aswell. you both walked forward, using your phones as flashlights to view the hallways clearly.

Both Teru and Ritsu are very competitive, which you can see since their first interaction Ritsu, powertripping, looking to "test" his limits, tries to intimidate Teru, to assert his superiority Unfortunately, this is Teru he's up against, so he fails, and then Teru retaliates In the end, Teru comes out on top of their little ego battle Cause that's all it really is, Ritsu perceives himself as invincible as of right now, and Teru believes that two weeks was enough time for him to fully integrate Mob's philosophy into his belief system, thus giving him the right to preach to fellow middle schoolers Now, their competitiveness doesn't extend only to one another, they both view their relationship with Mob through this lens of competition. Which makes sense, theyre both keenly aware of how strong Mob is and have been deeply affected by the gap in their abilities Ritsu begins by fearing Mob due to The Incident, realizing later on that one of the reasons he wanted psychic powers so badly was so he could have a way to counterattack if the worst happened On the other hand, the incomprehensible size of Mob's power didnt awaken fear within Teru, but admiration Well. It was probably fear as well for those few minutes that he was floating in the sky But instead of fearing Mob, Teru begins to see him as an example to follow Mob is somebody who taught him a lesson, who is much more powerful than him yet is kind and forgiving That's what Mob becomes. A standard to achieve, a role model to follow

Ritsu, too, views Mob as a standard, as a goal, although much earlier than Teru does. In spite of not having powers, he views them as something normal, ordinary. It doesn't make sense to him while they're so far out of reach. Even once he gains powers, Mobs influence on him doesn't waver. Instead of psychic powers, Ritsu chases Mobs conviction and dedication to his goal, to living the life he wants to live

Ultimately, both Ritsu and Teru come to the same conclusion: that Mob isnt scary nor perfect, that he isn't what either one of them perceives him to be, he isnt a paragon of good nor evil Mob is as messy, complicated, and angry as the rest of them. And that's okay.

In the end, both of them make a statement to Mob, declaring themselves on equal footing with him

(Special mention to Teru being Mobs self-proclaimed rival as he fights "Shigeo") And they both fall back on this idea of competing with Mob; gone is the fear and admiration; both of them have gotten to a place where they can actually see Mob for who he is Where Mob isn't idolized or feared, where he's somewhere in reach of a helping hand.

Background Info:

Me and my friends immediately agreed they were in the brass section. Ngl I audibly said "Teru is a trombone bc they're stupid and he's stupid" (I played trombone in band). And my friend that played trumpet said "the brunette seems like he would um actually someone... He's a trumpet for sure". I loved band but like I do love trashing on it more 😭 🙏

Anyway...

Teru and Akane are section leaders for their respective instruments (I'm basing a lot of things from my school's marching band). And they were picked for different reasons. Akane was picked bc he was genuinely the best Trumpet, and Teru was picked mostly due to popularity (he was also good trombone player just not the best).

Akane had a one-sided rivalry with Teru because he hated the fact Teru was picked when he didn't really care about the band. On the other hand, Teru had a one-sided crush on Akane because he admired him and it turned to a crush.

We got Akane constantly trying to one up Teru (and accidentally getting a soft spot for Teru bc no one could really argue with him without getting angry), and Teru completely misunderstanding him (he thought Akane was flirting). It led to Teru blurting out his feelings. Akane was flustered by the confession, and by the realization that he's just had a petty rivalry with someone that definitely wasn't looking at their relationship like that.

Akane accepted the confession after asking Teru for time to think about it. Aoi encouraged it. In this AU Akane sorta gets over his feelings for Aoi after she starts talking about someone else in the same way he talks about her (who is up to interpretation). They're just very close friends that gossip a lot in this little AU.

She knew for a while, Akane was talking about Teru a little too much for a normal person (Not in the "he's a prince charming" kinda way either). So she was rooting for them.

Teru now annoys Akane even more so because now he knows the boundaries he can play within. Other people think they hate each other bc Akane constantly snaps at Teru. But others think they're friends (or more 👀) bc they've seen Teru and Akane walk home together multiple times.

• eventually he falls in love with you and now he's extra curious about what you sound like. He's also more shy but clingy.

• You DO reveal your voice eventually! When Mitsuba heard it the first time he was shocked. Your voice was so soft and gentle! He loved it though he'd never tell you.

• if you have Kanao's eye color, he'll like looking at them. They're just so pretty and calming.

• sometimes he'll snatch your coin and hide it so you'd play scavenger hunt. It makes Mitsuba chuckle.

• basically , Mitsuba thinks youre precious and admires you a lot. He'll tey his best to look after you from Tsukasa you're his precious s/o.

- he'll be extra protective over you... mostly from Hanako. The ghost is just too handsy and nobody is gonna touch Kou's s/o like that.

- when he sees you flip a coin to decide something , he'll find it unique. He'll also encourage you to think for yourself it's okay! Very gentle about it.

- Kou was as red as a tomato the first time he heard ypu speak. It was just too precious. He'll ask you to talk again just to hear you.

- Kou was in awe at your strength. He felt so proud, yet slightly guilty because his s/o beat up his brother.

- even though you can take care of yourself , Kou has already decided to be your protecter wherever you go. He's q good boyfriend.

- overall , he'll do anything to keep you safe , he loves you so much you're his beloved s/o. He's very loyal and caring.

If it wasn’t for me you would think you have fashion taste boy” shows how much he cares for him like, yes he’s scared of him bc Mob is the most powerful esper ever but,.  we get it evil spirit you actually developed positive feelings for this kid and I can bet you are at least a bit hurt to sacrifice this bond in order to become a god (because to be god is to be all alone). Move on.

Note aside, I gasped how Teru’s love and admiration for Mob reached that high point to break dimple’s brainwash. Getting tossed to the air by Mob does things to him for sure.

Akane is a popular kid, arguably the most popular student outside Aoi and Teru, at least in his own class, so let's talk about it!

In his introduction, we are told the basics: how Akane is a childhood friend of Aoi, dutiful, obsessed with her, and so on. During this exposition, we get this small panel of two guys looking at him with a positive opinion of him:

It's important that the stripped shirt guy is the one who says "Akane is so nice" cause it is implied he has a crush on Aoi, or at the very least, that he considers her really cute, blushing when she is just living her life.

So even people who should consider him one hell of a romantic rival don't think badly of him. I would go as far as to say that they are invested in his obvious crush on Aoi because of the amount of attention he gets after being enchanted by the confession tree.

In an arc where everyone starts to get together, is hard to notice or even care about new couples.

But the whole class stops when Akane and Lemon claim to be dating. They surround the boys and talk about it, openly staring at them. (shout out to @bpzau-d-r-a-w-s for pointing out this crowd)

Which I would have assumed is homophobia if it wasn't for how many guys confess to Teru on the daily without being spared a single thought, or the way no one is trying to comfort Aoi.

If he was only known as 'that dude that follows Aoi' the class reaction should be "Great! Her bodyguard is not in the picture anymore! That's my chance!" but they don't spare Aoi a glance. No one cares that "our calm and composed popular queen is crying in the middle of class." right now. They are just... focused on Akane, too shocked by his change of heart to care about much else.

I know is Akane getting this attention instead of Lemon because the class reacted the same way once Akane started studying like crazy to win 'Teru's challenge' in chapter 59.

People don't dismiss his behavior as "hum, weird, well whatever" like when Nene talks to 'herself '(talk to Hanako) in class, they keep crowding and talking about Akane, they are invested, aware of the context of the situation (so they asked him) and familiar enough to take a guess that his behavior is related to Aoi.

So they care about what this weirdo is doing, he is a soap opera to the class! Just look at how invested people get when he says no to Aoi, even the background crew are open-mouthed or confused.

This idea Akane is a boy people pay attention to is everywhere in the manga.

Even for a class representative/council guy, it is ridiculous the number of people who want his help. He is always surrounded by people wanting his help.

I personally can't see that many people approach someone just to take advantage of them, he makes others go "Oh it's Aoi! I can trust Aoi to be of help :D" but I acknowledge that can be seen as a sign of how incompetent his class is or just people wanting to take advantage of him, so I'll talk about the cases people run to him that are nonrelated to his duties, is just his vibes:

Tiara gets super attached to Akane in no time, literally clinging to him out of everyone in the room, running to his side whenever there is an opportunity for it.

Hanako, who is apathetic towards most humans and supernaturals alike, loves his guts. Even if the admiration is not mutual.

Teru and Aoi are prideful people who have the whole school paying attention to them. They look at Akane the most.

Girls especially seem to like him.

We don't see him interact with many girls considering Aoi's jealous nature, but enough to tell the boys in his class call him 'Aoi', and the girls call him 'Akane-kun.' (shout out to @iamhereinthebg for pointing that out)

I am convinced the reason he doesn't get many confessions is because he brutally shuts down anyone who tries.

He isn't like Teru and Aoi, he does not believe in "I'll let them down gently, give them a cute smile to soothe the pain of rejection" he just crushes their hopes without hesitation and makes it clear they have no chance.

The one girl we explicitly see confess to him only ever hoped Akane would accept her chocolate, having no hopes her feelings would be returned but caring enough to let him know anyway.

And Akane still rejected her chocolates.

He seems to be relatively used to confessions, to the point he panicked when Nene said "I've meant to talk to you for ages" and immediately assumed she wanted to confess to him.

His answer is so quick, almost scripted "My heart belongs to another. I'm sorry." it makes no sense if he isn't at least somewhat used to getting love confessions.

Considering how... Unpleasant confessing to a guy who everyone knows has been madly in love with someone else for more than a decade must be, I am not surprised almost no one is brave enough to even try to pursue him. His blunt, borderline rude, way of expressing that his suitors are not welcome probably doesn't help either.

Bonus:

He is no idol, people do not trip over themselves when they see him like with Aoi and teru, but I do think he is considered a 'pretty boy' in canon.

Maybe I am reaching cause I am biased af, but I do find it wild that he is drawn super pretty in other's people pov when he is being playful or flirty, and the person always blushes about it.

Thoughts on Mikalight?

I enjoy it~. They have the potential to be really cute together. I haven’t fully explored it, but I have a real appreciation for it.

While I do like it where Teru’s a devoted servant that has earned Light’s favor and eventually works his way to becoming a trusted advisor of sorts, I really like imagining them together outside of a Kira-related context. Teru would still treat Light as if the sun shines out of his ass. The effort he’d put into altering his strict schedule to fit Light into his life would hopefully be noticed and appreciated. In an odd twist, Light would be the one who’d try to get Teru to loosen up from time to time, like remembering to celebrate holidays together, at least at first. He’d still admire his work ethic and dedication to his job, but he wouldn’t mind seeing that passion directed in other directions (I.e. Light). I think it’d be a bit of a struggle for Teru to get out of his habits to make time for someone else unless it’s already been scheduled ahead of time since we weren’t shown him having much of a social life outside of speaking with coworkers.

I have the funny image of Teru having a rigid written schedule for things like “surprise” meals, date nights, and love making where Light just sighs and says, “lol okay.” However, Teru would still be very attentive to Light’s mood (he’s not easy to ignore, lol). After all, he does canonically deviate from his norm on his own whenever he thinks Kira is limited or at risk. I’m sure he’d get better at reading Light’s “will” with time~.

I still worry that Light would eventually become bored with Teru because of his initial rigid nature. Reliable and loyal (unless suddenly disillusioned), but a little too… routine? That he wouldn’t give Teru a chance. Maybe it would depend on when and how they meet. Sometime when Light’s older and matures a bit, they meet because their careers are related to law enforcement, and gain a mutual admiration that grows into affection. Sounds ideal. They’d probably have some communication problems at first, and I’d wish them only the best~.

This may be only scratching the surface and I’m probably giving these characters too much credit, but here’s some Mikalight thoughts. ❤️

Note that these headcanons are in a kinda canon compliant au where they took at least 1 and a half month to find a way to get back to a boundary ^^ (so they even had to come back to school at one point :D) I just wanted them to create a strong bond before coming back to the boundary (this also create way more angst after with what happens in the boundary but shhht) Honestly idk how the timeline really work but let's say they met Mistumom, and didn't go right away in the red house because they couldn't find it so they had like 3 weeks of searching others stuff before Kou and Nene went upon it and pouf it's back to canon (idk tbh I just wanted them to have more time to speak to each others and to be a weird little group)

Teru is honestly having the time of his life :D He has time for himself, even too much time and he can finally get a good night of sleep! He spends all the time he wants with his sister and he likes that so much. Spending time in front of the tv every morning to watch cartoon with her is one of his favorite things to do! He doesn't hesitate to play with her too and try to help better in the house (with being far away from the kitchen). He doesn't like when there are big exorcist meetings because he has to go and to pretend he doesn't really know what happened with the severance. Teru is too proud and will take care of it. He doesn't want too many exorcists trying to solve the matter so he will play dumb sometimes, pretending not to know it started at his school :) He will definitely prevent his dad to come back home too, he doesn't wanna see him and doesn't want to show he 'failed' at something. Kou has already too many things to take care of, Teru will do everything so his dad won't bother him (their dad is nice, but just, exorcist duties are really important to him and Kou is having a hard time. He will never admit that it is also to protect Akane and Nene) because his dad will sense right away that they are related to supernaturals. And he doesn't want to think about what his dad will do to his friends right now. He will take care of the severance, alone if he has to.

Akane doesn't say it directly but he will definitely force Teru to take breaks and do stuff for him once the severance will be reversed. Because now that the exorcist has time Akane realized how little he had for him before.

Nene dropped her crush on him a long time ago now and loves to watch stupid stuff on tv with him, especially cooking shows. She has a lot of respect for Teru and knows he is hidding stuff from her and has to take a decision on what he will do with Hanako. They are not the closest but she knows once they will go back to the boundary, he will never be able to forgive her for taking Hanako's side (that's what she thinks at least, she heard that Teru wants to exorcist Hanako and understands why, but she can't bring herself to let him do it.)

Kou is in another dimension at this point, and put more pressure on himself with realizing how little time for himself Teru had before. He will let him help in the house and they will do a lot of stuff with Tiara (they definitely went to see an aquarium and the penguins and of course it was to search stuff for the severance of course *coughscoughs*) He admires his brother a lot but has a hard time to decide what he wants to do later and if he wants to be like him.

Nene is NOT having the time of her life. Everything is her fault and she can't bring herself to think she is not responsible for the severance. Even if the others suggest that she isn't the whole reason it happened she won't listen to anything they said. She is at fault here and she will not let herself take a real break before everything is back to normal. She often has to fake her happiness to her mom who definitely can see that she is really sad. She pretended it was for another rejection but her mom definitely doesn't buy it. Even if she will never admit it, everytime she feels really bad and thinks they have no time left before the severance is finished, she put her hands in water to see her scales. That's what makes her remember that everything is not lost and that she still has to fight to get her best friend back (and to destroy Hanako too). She always has the key she got from past Amane, because she can feel it will be useful and hope it will take them to the boundary.

Akane is nice with her but in a Akane way. He will use harsh words with her and say that she has to get her act together if she wanna help. She has known him for some times now and knows that he is worried about her and it's his way for showing that he cares, and that he believes she can do things.

Kou is super sweet with her and tries his hardest not to look too down when he is with her. Nene tries to make him talk but he always refuses saying he is fine. She will wait the time it will take but she makes him know she is here whenever he needs her.

Kou is also in depression land and doesn't really know how to process everything especially since he saw Mitsumom. This meeting absolutely destroyed him and he is desesperate to get as many informations on the human Mistuba as he can. Yokoo and Satou are worried af for him but try to stay cheerfull and call him every nights. He doesn't talk most of the time but the others two do the conversation. Satou sometimes just bake in the background and Yokoo tries the stupidest shit ever in his home to prank every member of his family (They can hear Yokoo's dad scream in the background most of the time because he just had a heart attack). They actually managed to make him chuckle and laugh a few time and they are really happy they did even if they won't say it.

Kou is always thinking about what Natsuhiko told him and even if he never finished his conversation with Nene about this he can feel her stare at him sometimes for more seconds than necessary before she puts a smile back. He knows she is worried about him but doesn't know to talk about this.

Kou actually was thinking of asking Akane but understood right away that he heard or at least understood what Nene and Kou talked about when he was asking her if she knew how to become a supernatural. Akane is nearly giving Kou the cold shoulder treatment when he's really nice with him usually. (well nice in the Akane way ahah) He doesn't seem mad, just disappointed. And Kou thinks it's even worse (he thinks that maybe Teru tolds him since they talked about it over breakfast once). He kinda understand why Akane can be mad at him when he knows his senpai would do everything to forget his supernatural part. They are still in good terms but the other two can definitely see that they are tense around each other.

Kou is a mixt a pure happiness and pure sadness when he sees Teru having the brightest smile ever doing the little things of life like going out for groceries and all. He swore to himself that he will make sure not let his big brother come back to his previous full exorcist life.

Akane suprinsigly is not as depressed as the other two. He lost Aoi yes, and it is partly his fault (and he definitely blames himself for being stupid). But the past is the past and he can't do anything about it now. Being depressed will only make him lost time. He always is better at focusing on what he can do now (representattive of the present amiright? this will be for my Akane character analysis but shht). What he can do to bring her back (them, because hey remember I like the mysteries as a found family so I can assure you he will never admit he misses some of them but he does) even if he sleeps only 2 hours of sleep or none at all each night, it doesn't matter.(he can sleep less than a normal human because he is half supernatural and supernaturals don't need to sleep) How he feels is irrelevant, the important thing is how effective he can be and how he can change things right now. He is so used to do his all into everything he will definitely do it again. Lemon doesn't understand why his friend doesn't have time for him but will never say it makes him kinda sad.

Nene nearly begs him to sleep because his eyebags are so dark she didn't even know it was possible. She also forces him to take a day off to go see Lemon together one day. Even if the blond was laid back as always, they could tell he was really happy. Akane admitted he was wrong (and that a break is cool sometimes) and thanks her for forcing him to do that especially when he saw how sad his best friend was for not seeing him during all hollidays.

Teru is the only one who looks like something in the group but hey they are trying (no Akane isn't trying at all)

Tiara is oh so ready to exorcist Akane until she found out how hilarious he can be to annoy. She told him he reminds her of Fairy and Akane became red of embarassment when he learnt Fairy is her mokke. Nene and Kou go to see Mitsumom everyday since they saw her and help her to bring flowers and clean Sousuke's grave when it's not too hot. She is always really happy to talk about his son and to have people to talk too since she is alone now.

Nene started to take lessons for fighting/self defense with the Minamoto. Teru was oh so happy to teach her how to be ready to destroy Hanako. She is using a punching ball with Hanako's face on it (badly drawn) to take out her anger when she is frustrated about Hanako's decision for her fate. Akane is also delighted to see she swears now and is trying to make her say the worse insults ever. Kou is always shocked in a corner when he hears Nene swears so much (oh my god Senpai said fuck). Akane can't stand hot temperatures because his body is colder than human's thanks to his half supernatural blood so he just lies on the floor all day with a fan in front of him. Teru always accidentaly of course steps on him but Akane is so dead he just complains/insults him and stays on the floor. Teru created a game to see how annoying he can be until Akane finally snaps.

They are forced to play with Tiara sometimes and this is wild af especially because Teru is also having the time of his life. And his creativity is as big as the 5yo girl. Akane is here physically most of the time but is litteraly sleeping while standing, Nene tries her best to be the really cool onee-chan Tiara sees in her and Kou is actually having fun too seeing his siblings being so happy. Nene decided to put Punchill ball hanako as the big bad guy they have to destroy and asbolutely no one complained.

Akane is having a hard time more the far shore and near shore split away from each other. At first he could hear a lot of voice and noises the others couldn't hear (and lot of panick noises of supernaturals not understanding what was happening to them). The less he hears them the more he knows the far shore is getting away. He estimated the time they had left before the end of the severance at 2month max. Teru definitely uses him as a detector for supernatural related stuff since he can feel when he is close to them and is the only one who can read Wosite perfectly (another big headcanon of mine, Supernaturals have a universal language (AidaIro use Wosite in their manga for this so I though I would use it too (maybe this isn't vene a headcanon idk) Since this is an ancient languague this is the one supernaturals uses to speak between them).

Once Akane became half supernatural he knew how to speak and read it right away. Teru knows how to read it too because it's part of his exorcist duty but it's way more fun to use Akane for this. Nene knows how to speak it a little to since she hears Hanako and the Mokke talk sometimes like this (and she is really good at learning foreign languages)

Teru knows Akane has phantom pain from his wound and knows it will come back. But since Akane is pretending he has a healthy body of a 15yo Teru will roll with it too. (even if he is in fact super worried about him, and has a lot of things prepare if something happen because of it. But hey he is Minamoto Teru he will never tell him that)

i headcanon that teru is a big fan of poetry

so when he found out that you, his beloved and sweet s/o was a talented poet he was estatic

he was like a little kid finding out their mom is taking them to McDonald's

he tried to keep his cool and totally not geek out about his favorite pieces of poetry and ask to see your work

definitely romanticizes you writing mysterious poems and leaving them in his locker or something

he just watches you in awe as you form the right words and make up a meaning behind each sentence

he's practically towering over you and blocking the light tell him to stop please

at first he'd be a lil confused, give him some time he'll figure it out (with your help) BUT once he connects the dots he'll be like an eager lil puppy

he wouldn't tell you that he knows about your poetry but he would tell amane, bro is over the moon when he reads your work my goodness

the way you put together your words with such delicacy and thought just marvels them

if you wrote them love letters, especially secret admirer letters, they would wanna respond back with their own poems

amane definitely uses astronomy metaphors and leaves lil cutesy trinkets in those lil letters

tsukasa on the other hand leaves stains on the letters and manages to go through three pens and a pencil just from writing two stanzas, ill let your imagination think of what kinda stains he leaves

if you recite your poems to them they're done for, bonus points if you have an enchanting and alluring voice man they are beet red

the twins would love to watch you do your magic but amane would get a lil nervous since he knows the pressure of being watched whilst doing something as intricate as writing, tsukasa on the other hand is bombarding you with questions about the meanings, why you used that word, etc
